  1. Take your Bible if you will turn with me to first

  2. Corinthians chapter number 16 We had a good time

  3. and I appreciate the men the boys with our church

  4. and I did not know that they had a frog video

  5. there and My frog look like a frog act like a

  6. frog jump like a frog But we had a wonderful

  7. time. I want to start as you turn in first Corinthians

  8. chapter number 16 just talk about the men we

  9. we had a wonderful time of fellowship, wonderful

  10. time with the games, but it was also a time that

  11. was spiritual. And Brother Jerome, this afternoon,

  12. he said, Pastor, it was almost like a revival.

  13. And in a way, he's right. It was almost like

  14. a revival in some of our hearts and our minds

  15. with the preaching, thinking about God. There

  16. was a revival in my heart, and I believe there

  17. was a revival in many of the men and the young

  18. men during this little camp meeting. Now, we

  19. get to 1 Corinthians chapter number 16, and we

  20. look at verse number 13 and 14. If you'll stand

  21. with me for the preaching of God's word, or the

  22. reading of God's word, I should say, and we're

  23. gonna read those two verses together. 1 Corinthians

  24. chapter number 16, starting in verse number 13,

  25. we'll read 13 and 14. Ready? Watch ye stand fast

  26. in the faith. Quit you like men, be strong. Let

  27. all your things be done with charity. Now verse

  28. 13, watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you

  29. like men, be strong. Now the theme of our camp,

  30. we sang glory to his name, but I got up and I

  31. preached on Thursday night, be strong, be strong,

  32. be strong. And by the way, strong as far as strength,

  33. praise the Lord for strength, but be strong in

  34. the Lord. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ

  35. Jesus. We need to be strong in the Lord. Then

  36. Friday morning, we got up and we had a flag.

  37. And the flag right there is a symbol. We live

  38. in America. I'm thankful for the American flag.

  39. I'm thankful that we live in the United States

  40. of America. I'm not ashamed of that. I'm thankful

  41. that the liberty that we have to read our Bibles,

  42. the freedoms that we have, I am thankful to be

  43. an American. But we talked a little bit about

  44. a banner. And sometimes a Christian, we serve

  45. under the banner of Christ or the flag of Christ.

  46. But sometimes we pretend to be Christians, serve

  47. under the banner of Christ. But in reality, we

  48. act more like we are under the banner of the

  49. devil. It's important for us men to not only

  50. say we're Christians, but act like Christians,

  51. live like Christians. We went a little bit further

  52. and we got to Friday night and we looked at a

  53. light, a light. Jesus is the light, walk ye in

  54. the light. Many people don't walk in the light,

  55. they walk in darkness and boy, we need to make

  56. a concerted effort to walk in the light. And

  57. then Saturday morning, It was important, we looked

  58. at the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary

  59. when he said, it is finished. And it is finished.

  60. But tonight, we're gonna look at this verse,

  61. watch ye stand fast in the faith, quit ye like

  62. men be strong. Let's go to the Lord in prayer.

  63. Dear Father in heaven, we love you. Thankful

  64. for our church this Sunday night. Thankful for

  65. what you did in my heart during those days of

  66. the camp meeting, Lord. And Lord, I pray that

  67. it continues tonight. maybe a little bit of like

  68. a revivalistic service. I pray decisions are

  69. continued to be made, Lord, and help us to have

  70. a service that honors you. We love you, in Jesus'

  71. name. Amen. You may be seated and you know, the

  72. camp meeting ended with a pile of clothes and

  73. we packed up on Saturday and I had so many clothes

  74. with my kids that we filled the back of my van

  75. with just dirty, wet. that nasty clothes. We

  76. got home and we had to get laundry done. But

  77. you know, as we came home with the dirty clothes,

  78. we also came home with a spiritually filled heart,

  79. filled with the word of God. Be strong. Boy,

  80. the Christian banner, that was giving us a banner

  81. to them that fear thee. Walking in the light,

  82. it is finished. And it continues here in the

  83. first verse there, verse 13, watch ye. Say that

  84. with me. Watch ye. What does that mean? The Apostle

  85. Paul writing to the church at 1 Corinthians is

  86. a carnal church. It's a church with many struggles

  87. and difficulties. They had lacked paying attention.

  88. They had really gotten to the point where they

  89. were more interested in themselves, their own

  90. ideas. And Paul says, no, watch ye, watch ye.

  91. Pay attention, stay awake spiritually, be alert.

  92. By the way, the devil is as a roaring lion walking

  93. about seeking whom he may devour. And when we

  94. don't pay attention, when we don't. watch when

  95. we don't, you might say, pay attention or stay

  96. awake spiritually, that devil will devour us

  97. spiritually and destroy our lives. The devil's

  98. not playing games. Sin is not harmless. The Christian

  99. life is not a game. It's real. And tonight, praise

  100. the Lord, this is a tremendous crowd for a Sunday

  101. night, but we need as Christians to pay attention.

  102. The Bible says in Proverbs chapter four, it's

  103. wisdom, it says, keep thy heart with all diligence,

  104. for out of it are the issues of life. Watch ye,

  105. watch ye, watch ye. There was a man who came

  106. to our camp, and I got to talk to him. He's a

  107. contractor for the military. And I spent some

  108. good time with this man, a dear man. And he talked

  109. about the Iran war and how his life has been

  110. very busy helping out the military. And he talked

  111. about when he was in Bahrain, he had stayed at

  112. a hotel. And he talked about the Iranians bombed

  113. the hotel that he had stayed after. And I really

  114. didn't think about. much about it but he said

  115. there's a lot going on behind the scenes and

  116. then all of a sudden he said he went to the base

  117. on Bahrain and he said it was odd when he went

  118. to the base on Bahrain during during the Iranian

  119. war he said there was no guards on duty he said

  120. we just drove on to the base and I said just

  121. drove on to the base say we just drove on the

  122. bay I said that was odd and I don't understand

  123. it all But when you have a military base or you're

  124. at a military post and you don't have a guard,

  125. you don't have a watch, You can allow the enemies

  126. to come in. And when we don't stand watch, we

  127. can allow the enemies of Satan to come in and

  128. destroy our lives. Boy, our church needs to stand

  129. our watchy, our individuals as men and young

  130. men right now, we need to pay attention spiritually.

  131. We need to be alert. We need to not be careless

  132. because being careless, we've become an easy

  133. target for the devil. Boy, as a church here tonight,

  134. young and old men and women, pay attention. Watch

  135. ye, watch ye, keep your heart with all diligence.

  136. And it leads to this, are you paying attention

  137. spiritually or are you just drifting? Are you

  138. like that base set during that Iranian war without

  139. a guard? Makes no sense to me. Look at the next

  140. part right there in verse number 13. Watch ye,

  141. what's this next little phrase? Stand fast in

  142. the faith. Stand fast in the faith. Say it again

  143. with me. Stand fast in the faith. What does that

  144. mean? Stand fast in the faith. Do not move from

  145. what you know is true. Stay anchored in the faith,

  146. even when pressure comes. Stand fast, don't move

  147. away from the faith. Don't move away from the

  148. word of God. Don't move away from the great God

  149. that you love. Now, if I could give an illustration,

  150. Daniel, if you'll come up here, and this is a

  151. young man, and boy, I'm a preacher, and I'm trying

  152. to lead this young man to stand fast in the faith.

  153. Now, young man. I want you to get busy in the

  154. work of the Lord. You have a life lived ahead

  155. of you that can be used in a great way for God's

  156. honor and glory. I want you to stand fast in

  157. the faith. I want you to take this nail, and

  158. I wanna anchor it into the word of God. If you

  159. could just pretend for a moment that this is

  160. the faith, this is the word of God, and take

  161. yourself and anchor yourself in the word of God.

  162. Pick up a hammer, nail that into the... the board

  163. right there, and it's young man, don't be negligent,

  164. pay attention, and stand fast in the faith, drive

  165. it deep into the faith, live for God, live for

  166. God, have a heart for God, have a zeal for God,

  167. have a love for God, hey listen to me, young

  168. man, nail it, drive it deep, because when the

  169. devil comes, when destruction is on your doorstep,

  170. when you stand fast in the faith, you're gonna

  171. be driven deep into the word of God, it's gonna

  172. be hidden in your heart, and you can live for

  173. the king. King of kings and Lord of lords, stand

  174. fast, young man. Do you listen to me? Stand fast,

  175. young man. Did you drive it deep? Young man.

  176. Young man. The devil comes along. He begins to

  177. look at what's going on. And he said, okay, young

  178. man, you're now 16 years of age. You're gonna

  179. be turning 17. You're gonna be turning 18. And

  180. boy, young man. I'm glad that you're real about

  181. this Christianity thing, and he's gonna send

  182. some temptation your way. He's gonna send some

  183. lust of the flesh your way. He's gonna send some

  184. opportunities your way. Young man, listen, the

  185. devil's on your doorstep. He's knocking at your

  186. doorstep. Did you drive the stake deep? Are you

  187. driving the stake deep? That's what happens to

  188. a lot of Christians. Boy, it's not that they

  189. don't have a parent or mom and dad who tell them

  190. to drive the nail deep or stand fast to the faith.

  191. They've got a parent, they've got a Sunday school

  192. teacher, they have a preacher, they have the

  193. word of God especially that says drive the nail

  194. deep. And they look and smile sometimes and they

  195. pound on that nail a little bit. But in reality,

  196. many young men and young ladies and young men

  197. and young women, they have the Bible. It's stand.

  198. You can stand on it. And boy, it's good, the

  199. Christian life. There's nothing better than the

  200. Christian life. But sometimes we don't drive

  201. it deep into there. Young man, boy, praise God.

  202. God is a God of second chances. And listen. Satan

  203. knocked you down, but a just man follows seven

  204. times and rises up again. You've got another

  205. chance. Stand fast in the faith. Drive the nail

  206. deep. Drive the nail deep. Love God. Live the

  207. Bible. Stand fast in the faith. You can trust

  208. God. Go deeper. Boy, know why you believe what

  209. you... The devil comes along and says, young

  210. man, he becomes knocking on your door, but you

  211. drove the nail deep. You drove it deep in the

  212. faith. You know why you believe what you believe.

  213. You've been saved by the blood of the crucified

  214. one. You have an answer from God's word. You've

  215. hit it in your heart. The devil comes along and

  216. says, young man with temptation, oh, now he may

  217. bend you a little bit, but he's not gonna break

  218. you. Come on, man. He tries to hit you this way.

  219. Then all of a sudden, And by the way, resist

  220. the devil and he will flee from you. And boy,

  221. sometimes a young man does not drive that nail

  222. deep in the faith, doesn't drive that nail deep

  223. into the word of God, just rides on the coattails

  224. of maybe mom or dad. No, have your own faith.

  225. Stand fast in the faith, go be seated. Boy, that

  226. one nail that's driven to you, it holds, that

  227. one little nail that's a little tapped in there,

  228. it's loose. And when pressure comes, that deeply

  229. driven nail remains, but that shallow one gives

  230. way. Standing fast is not pretending to be strong

  231. on the surface, but standing fast means you drive

  232. your faith deep down inside. You know why you

  233. believe. By the way, this is interesting. Ephesians

    Ephesians 6:13

  234. chapter 6 verse 13 says this. Wherefore, take

  235. unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be

  236. able to withstand in the evil day, and having

  237. done, not some, but it says having done. all

  238. to stand. The world's going the wrong direction,

  239. and oh boy, the pressure of this sin -sick world

  240. is on the next generation. We need to stand fast

  241. in the faith. It's interesting, I read an article,

  242. this is recent, and this is the title of the

  243. article, the three giants players, the San Francisco

  244. Giants, three giants players attacked. the LGBTQ

  245. community and weaponized the Pride rainbow. And

  246. you begin to read it, here's what it says, three

  247. San Francisco Giants pitchers disgraced themselves

  248. at the team's Pride night. weaponizing the Pride

  249. rainbow and attacking the LGBT community. And

  250. then Leydon Rupp leads anti -gay attack against

  251. LGBTQ pride. Starting pitcher Leydon Rupp and

  252. reliever JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker, who collectively

  253. lost the game in a five to one drubbing, chose

  254. to wear the rainbow pride caps. And please forgive

  255. me, this is just what's written here. And as

  256. a middle finger to the LGBT community, the size

  257. of a Kuwait Tower, they wrote a Bible verse on

  258. their caps. They wrote a Bible verse on their

  259. caps, drenching it with hate. The verse inscribed,

  260. Genesis chapter nine, verses 11 through 16, each

  261. player had a different variation of exactly which

  262. verses. It's supposed to be an empowering gesture

  263. from God, supposed to be an empowering gesture

  264. from God, declaring the rainbow as a covenant

  265. between him and mankind, promising to never flood

  266. the earth again. It's in Genesis. Instead, these

  267. three players weaponized that verse, choosing

  268. the giant's pride night specifically in attempt

  269. to steal away the only symbol the LGBTQ community

  270. has to unite us, the rainbow. We stole that from

  271. the LGBT. We've had that a lot longer than they

  272. have. It's God's rainbow. It's God's rainbow.

  273. And you know what I mean by the stand fast in

  274. the faith because in the world today, have you

  275. ever read the comments? I don't like reading

  276. comments. But if you ever read the comments of

  277. stuff like that, you know one comment said this,

  278. wow. the imaginary man in the sky. And when I

  279. read that comment, I said, well, one day you're

  280. gonna stand before that imaginary man in the

  281. sky, and you're gonna answer them, because of

  282. the point of the one man wants to die, and after

  283. that, the judgment. And so you have to understand,

  284. we need to be men who stand fast like men, who

  285. are deeply driven in the faith in the word of

  286. God. Stand fast. Then look at this, in verse

  287. 13, watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you

  288. like men. Amen. Quit you like men. Quit you like

  289. men. What does that mean? That means act like

  290. a man. Act like a man. Be courageous. Be mature.

  291. Be responsible to the men. Be an example to the

  292. young men. Grow toward a manly, godly adulthood

  293. right there. The world has a lot of males, but

  294. it doesn't have very many men. And in our church,

  295. there's nothing wrong with being a man. We live

  296. in a world where some of you ladies, they attack

  297. a godly lady and make you feel inferior for being

  298. a virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. But can I just

  299. tell you the Bible says a virtuous woman, her

  300. price is far, far above rubies. And listen, you're

  301. not second rate citizens. You're greater than

  302. great. You're something that is precious in the

  303. sight of God. But you're a woman. That's the

  304. way God created you. And you women are something

  305. that I am not. God created me a man. There's

  306. nothing wrong with being different. There's nothing

  307. wrong with being a man. And there's nothing wrong

  308. if you're a woman of being a woman, but the world

  309. begins to blend things and mix things. Quit you

  310. like men. And the world has a lot of males, once

  311. again not enough men. Godly men take responsibility.

  312. Godly men tell the truth even when it's hard.

  313. Godly men work hard. Godly men protect what is

  314. right. Godly men control their spirit. He that

  315. hath no rule over his own spirit like a city

  316. that is broken down and without walls. A godly

  317. man is not ashamed of Christ. Quit ye like men.

  318. Quit ye like men. Boy, stand fast. Quit ye like

  319. men. Be a man. Be a man. Well, we need some strong

  320. Christian men. It was interesting at the camp.

  321. I went over there to the Well, I did, I did,

  322. I did, I went to the ice cream shop. Oh yeah,

  323. and I bought ice cream, not for myself, no, no,

  324. no, no. I did it for my son. Now, he shared,

  325. he shared, you know, three scoops, he shared,

  326. you know, he shared two scoops with me. And,

  327. you know, pretty quickly, like, man, I'm gonna

  328. do what a dad has to do, I gotta help him out,

  329. you know, that's what we gotta do. But over there

  330. was a young man that came to our Bible Institute

  331. many years ago, Kerry Charles. and Kerry Charles

  332. came over there. His dad was the pastor of Central

  333. Baptist Church in Yorktown and Kerry Charles,

  334. his dad, preached at our Bible Institute many

  335. years ago. I have the video of that and taught

  336. an amazing lesson and just of being a man of

  337. God and living for God. I'll never forget the

  338. night that he did that. By the way, about a year

  339. and a few months ago, John Charles preached at

  340. our church, Kerry Charles' dad, and dying of

  341. cancer. And if you were here this night, John

  342. Charles, the pancreatic cancer, he came in here

  343. and he was filled with the spirit of God, had

  344. the joy of the Lord, and preached a message that

  345. was powerful and wonderful. At the end of the

  346. message, you were here, there were tears shed

  347. galore. I remember coming down and my heart was

  348. moved, and boy, he preached a powerful message.

  349. Talk to Kerry Charles. And I was reminded of

  350. Kerry Charles as living for God. Kerry Charles

  351. has the joy of the Lord. Kerry Charles, boy his

  352. dad in his 50s moved on into eternity, but Kerry

  353. Charles watched his dad be a man. Watched his

  354. dad in a difficult situation continue on. Watched

  355. his dad dying live for God. And boy, look at

  356. that, and I said, that is a great man, a man

  357. with a trial, with a difficulty, but he followed

  358. the example of the Bible, quit you like men.

  359. Look at this last one, if you will. Watch ye,

  360. verse 13, stand fast in the faith, quit you like

  361. men. What is this last one? Be strong, be strong.

  362. Oh, that was the first message we started with

  363. for the men and boys camp. Be strong, Joshua

  364. chapter one, verse six says, be strong. Joshua

  365. chapter one verse seven says, only be thou strong.

  366. Joshua chapter one verse nine says, have not

  367. I commanded thee, be strong. And then we went

  368. to second Timothy chapter two, thou therefore

  369. my son be strong, be strong. And oh, we had a

  370. strength contest on Thursday night. And we had

  371. some of the weakest men were ended up being the

  372. strongest men. I had a 45 pound weight and they

  373. were to throw it. and the first men, the hulking

  374. ones, threw it and went about, some of them,

  375. seven feet. Then one of the littler guys, I think

  376. one of my sons, rather than throwing it, he rolled

  377. it, and it went way far, and so he won the strong

  378. man's, he was the smart man's contest, I should

  379. say. But be strong, be strong. This is not talking

  380. about physical strength, but spiritual strength.

  381. And it's important, finally, my brethren, be

  382. strong in the Lord and the power of his might.

  383. Well, be strong in the Lord. You know, have you

  384. ever thought about that? I am weak, but thou

  385. art strong. Thinking about my life. My life,

  386. how many times that I have failed. How many times

  387. I've said something that I regret. How many times

  388. I've felt helpless in the will of God. Helpless

  389. in doing the will of God. Now, I know it's the

  390. will of God, but I feel helpless. And then I'm

  391. reminded that that's the way we all are. In reality,

  392. we all are helpless. And it says this in 2 Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  393. chapter 12. It says, The apostle Paul, and lest

  394. I should be exalted above measure through the

  395. abundance of the revelations, there was given

  396. to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of

  397. Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted

  398. above measure. For this thing I besought the

  399. Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And

  400. he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee,

  401. for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

  402. Then the apostle Paul said, most gladly, therefore,

  403. will I rather glory in my infirmities that the

  404. power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I

  405. take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,

  406. in necessities, in persecution, in distresses

  407. for Christ's sake. This is the famous part, for

  408. when I am weak, then am I strong. You know we

  409. are weak, but you know when we're weak and we

  410. realize how weak we are? It causes us to look

  411. up to the great God we have who is not weak at

  412. all. And he is a powerful God, a holy God, a

  413. righteous God, a God that'll help us in a great

  414. way. Like again, what I'm saying, sometimes I

  415. feel weak, very weak, helpless, and struggle.

  416. I look at the responsibility I have as a husband,

  417. as a father, as a pastor, and I say, in my mind

  418. sometimes, I can't do it. But then I realize

  419. I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens

  420. me. And you know, I feel weak, but when I realize

  421. he has the strength, boy, all of a sudden, it

  422. takes a weight off my shoulder. It was a weight

  423. that I was never meant to carry, and I come into

  424. that yoke with the Lord coming to me, all ye

  425. that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give

  426. you rest. God gives us strength. We're at the

  427. very end. Men, young men, ladies tonight. When

  428. you go home from this Sunday night campout, remember,

  429. watchy, are you paying attention? Are you paying,

  430. are you standing fast in the faith? Young men,

  431. have you driven this deep? Drive it deep. I didn't

  432. drive it deep enough. But it would be a good

  433. thing, you know, you think about that. Stand

  434. fast in the faith. It may be a little bit ridiculous,

  435. but I hope we get the point. When you damage

  436. the floor, I'd rather damage the floor and get

  437. something to remember in our life that won't

  438. damage our life. It's important, stand fast in

  439. the faith. Quit you like men. Boy, be strong.

  440. Let's pray. Dear Father in heaven, we love you.

  441. I love the men, the young men. I know you have

  442. a special plan for them, but I pray that you

  443. help us to take seriously your word. I pray that

  444. we watch, that we pay attention. I pray that

  445. we stand fast in the faith. I pray that we quit

  446. ye like men. Help the men to be men and realize

  447. that's okay. Help the ladies to realize that

  448. it can be ladies, virtuous women. That's not

  449. only okay, it's wonderful. God, I pray also that

  450. we're strong, not in ourselves, but in you. I

  451. pray that we drive this home in our hearts and

  452. our minds, and we go home and remember these

  453. truths. We love you, we need you, bless the invitation,

  454. in Jesus' name, amen. Stand with me, if you will.

  455. We're gonna have an invitation. Remember where

  456. we started, Brother Jerome, you said this morning,

  457. Pastor, it was like a little revival. You'd gone

  458. home and you used that thing, be strong, be strong,

  459. be strong. We all should go home. And some of

  460. those things we should say is, boy, I'm gonna

  461. pay attention. I'm gonna stand fast to the faith,

  462. I'm gonna quit you like men, and I'm gonna be

  463. strong in the Lord, do business with God as the

  464. piano plays in the organ.
