[SPEAKER_00]: The book of Matthew.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the first book in the New Testament.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know that Matthew chapter thirteen verses forty seven your fifty Matthew thirteen forty seven through fifteen if you could please stand to honor the reading of God's Word And it says a Matthew thirteen forty seven through fifty it says

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was cast into the sea and gathered all kinds of fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: When it was full, they drew it to shore, set down and gathered the good into baskets.

[SPEAKER_00]: But through the bad way, Seoul shall not be at the end of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous

[SPEAKER_00]: and throw them into the fiery furnace, and there shall be whaling and gnashing of teeth.

[SPEAKER_00]: God bless and honor the reading of his word and you may be seated.

[SPEAKER_00]: June, the twentieth, nineteen seventy-five.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a smidge over fifty years ago.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a very first summer blockbuster.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a movie that came out

[SPEAKER_00]: that surprised everyone.

[SPEAKER_00]: Based off of a nineteen seventy four novel by Peter Binsley.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they made it to a film.

[SPEAKER_00]: Known as jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this movie was the first not the first movie directed by him, but it was a cut and he'd already directed a couple films, but his first big film directed by a man by the name of Steven Spielberg.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was very, very young and ambitious.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was a film that's supposed to come out in a Christmas time in the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name of the name

[SPEAKER_00]: It was made in fresh water.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they had not tested it in salt water.

[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't think about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so they had to, it kept breaking down and it would not work.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so finally, it took a lot longer and took a lot more money than they, and he, and Steven Spielberg was afraid they're going to shut it down.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it took a lot, a lot, a lot a lot of times.

[SPEAKER_00]: So did not come out when it was supposed to.

[SPEAKER_00]: It starred Roy Scheider.

[SPEAKER_00]: Richard Dreyford's Robert Shaw, many other people, and it was also starting another thing, because they couldn't get their shark to work, and it wasn't like the novel I think, doing this, and I was not near as good as me, which is a rare thing to say.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it was also starting something else, music by John Williams.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, to this day, you know you can hear it, you're hitting right now, and you know, and because of that film, I was terrified, terrified, and because of that film, that's why I learned to swim.

[SPEAKER_00]: when they bring out the third horrible film.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when they bring that out, I learned to swim, not because I was brave, but because I wanted to get out of the water, so the pool by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that, so that, so that if some magical way the shark would come out through the pool, it would eat the other kids and not me, real brave ate your own anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: That being said, that being said, it was a surprise

[SPEAKER_00]: movie, where the budget was nine million dollars and it made four hundred seventy seven point nine million dollars.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a huge movie.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was the biggest movie of all time for a couple years till Star Wars came out.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is it was huge.

[SPEAKER_00]: And just when you thought it was safe to go back to the church and see your past, your future on the pulpit, he's speaking about jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: And today's movie, Sherman is not about jaws, not really.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the title of this call, Big Jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Big Jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna tell you a little story real quick.

[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing that I love and hated about that movie with my brothers.

[SPEAKER_00]: We grew up playing, playing, uh, jaw so in time still, uh, every time.

[SPEAKER_00]: We love that movie.

[SPEAKER_00]: They had a game by ideal, but with a jaws game, loved it.

[SPEAKER_00]: My brother had recorded the music off of TV from John Williams and I am in the tub and playing with toys.

[SPEAKER_00]: And suddenly I hear that and I thought it was my imagination.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then I hear it again.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember if I was dressed or not.

[SPEAKER_00]: I just remember I ran into the hallway and got to my room as soon as possible.

[SPEAKER_00]: evil brothers, but I love them anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: That being said, this movie really affected me and still does, you know, millions of people were afraid to swim because of that movie.

[SPEAKER_00]: This one learned this one because of what I said.

[SPEAKER_00]: That being said, I am not going to be speaking to you about the film, Jost.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is not what the experiment is about.

[SPEAKER_00]: Big Jost is about something else, but I am going to have my brother, my wonderful brother, past these pictures.

[SPEAKER_00]: I hope they're wonderful for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know, I love to say that I don't, but I do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, physically speaking, I don't believe it or not, every time I go to the dentist, they say, open wide, open wide or open wide or I can't get in there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, most people, if they're a betting person, they lose a lot of money.

[SPEAKER_00]: Most people would bet I'd have a big mouth, but believe it or not, physically, I don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: But talking I do, we can oftentimes have two big of a mouth and big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: But Jesus Christ had a lot to say about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Guess what he said, a Matthew, fifteen eleven.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you can write that down.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matthew, fifteen eleven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus said this.

[SPEAKER_00]: That which goes into a mouth does not defile a man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now why did he say that?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because it was in the old law not to eat certain things.

[SPEAKER_00]: In the old Jewish law, God told them not to eat pork.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not to eat certain types of fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we're talking about the different types of crab fish and all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[SPEAKER_00]: because you're going to go to hell if you ate pork today.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hey, Pastor, I'm making them going to hell.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, you're not going to hell if you ate bacon.

[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, I'm going to want trouble.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even bake them today.

[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, I'm talking about the fact that many people teach this.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the point.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, back then there was a lot about different things for different reasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: That law no longer counts.

[SPEAKER_00]: Read the book.

[SPEAKER_00]: I actually'll see that.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is this, it is not that.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was saying this to those who were basically hypocrites and he was talking to those Pharisees and all, who talked about you have to follow the law thoroughly because their works are going to get him to heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus wasn't saying that.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not what goes into the mouth.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's only said.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me.

[SPEAKER_00]: That which goes into the mouth does not defile a man, but that which comes out.

[SPEAKER_00]: of the mouth, this defiles the man.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, the things that are inside of us is what defiles us.

[SPEAKER_00]: We are defiled about what we are, not what we put in, what what comes out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs start King three.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs start King three says this.

[SPEAKER_00]: He who guards his mouth, preserves life, but he who opens wide his lips will have destruction.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh boy.

[SPEAKER_00]: So many times I've talked stupid.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've talked stupid and I know I'm not doing it one by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is not, I want you to understand when I'm up here and I'm saying things about myself and I'm being, but it sounds like the little thing and the salty thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want you to think I'm here to insult myself or belittle myself.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know I've told you so often how I've had low self-esteem and security none of them.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's happened many times this truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: But God, I'm not up here to make fun of myself.

[SPEAKER_00]: God has helped me.

[SPEAKER_00]: I no longer have that humiliating myself, but I'm humble.

[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord has helped me with that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm here being honest with you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So you can be honest between you and the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: Know this is good to admit of their fault so that God can build you up.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not so I care myself down to be funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm being honest with you so that you can be honest with yourself between you and Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to understand that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he who guards his mouth reserves lies, but he who opens wide his lips will have destruction.

[SPEAKER_00]: We sometimes speak too much.

[SPEAKER_00]: We say too much.

[SPEAKER_00]: Many times just because you think it doesn't mean you need to say it.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many times we said something to men?

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen now.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many times do you thought something you said it to a woman?

[SPEAKER_00]: And you've been married and they say, what do you think of this shirt?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not telling you to lie.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you need to be careful.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you're a child, it's a little different.

[SPEAKER_00]: My dad always told me, well, they asked me, and you always tell me, tell the truth, the house was really hard for parents.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, you tell your kid not to lie.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's all good, and that's great.

[SPEAKER_00]: But not lying doesn't mean you tell everyone, boy, I shouldn't have been sure.

[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, you look terrible.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a really good difference.

[SPEAKER_00]: A good balance, a balance between being honest and being a jerk.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's only, I'll be forty-nine in August.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's only taking me probably fifty-two by the ones that I've found it.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm kidding.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's only taking me, it don't take me about forty-seven years to figure it out.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm kidding.

[SPEAKER_00]: But seriously, it's through the Lord Jesus that I found that balance.

[SPEAKER_00]: because I didn't find it on my own if I'm honest.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's through the Holy Spirit because fell up the man of the flesh.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's often opened up his mouth and eaten his wonderful big fat feet.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's through Jesus that he shuts my mouth and wisdom can come.

[SPEAKER_00]: Only through Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: Only through the Holy Spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Only through the Lord Father God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you've had the same.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs, eighteen, seven.

[SPEAKER_00]: is his destruction.

[SPEAKER_00]: And his lips are the snare of his soul.

[SPEAKER_00]: But Pastor, you said it's so quick.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't hear where it was.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's so fun to say it again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs, eighteen seven, a fool's mouth is his destruction.

[SPEAKER_00]: And his lips are the snare of his soul.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know you've probably caught traps for yourself.

[SPEAKER_00]: For you've been angry and you said something you probably shouldn't have said.

[SPEAKER_00]: The pastor, I don't ever, I've never cursed.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're not just talking about first words, although most of us can't say that we've never said something bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just because you haven't ever cursed, or you don't have a problem, we're not talking about that necessarily.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you can say words that are acceptable, the people's ears, but an attitude to make it good, acceptable word into that word.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what I mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: I bet so.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs, chapter twenty one, verse twenty three.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from trouble.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, thank you, Solomon.

[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, you're right.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, it's not Solomon.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's God who spoke to and through Solomon.

[SPEAKER_00]: We sometimes forget that these are people.

[SPEAKER_00]: We just see the thing written down, and we forget, don't we?

[SPEAKER_00]: No unwholesome word.

[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't it amazing?

[SPEAKER_00]: how through time, words can change from being wholesome to unwholesome depending on the attitudes and emotions of people where they're from.

[SPEAKER_00]: You go down south and some people don't mind saying this word in that word.

[SPEAKER_00]: You go across the river and some people say a certain word or certain words all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: You go to one family and they have their own personal bad words or own personal fun words.

[SPEAKER_00]: We had one in our family for years that I didn't even know wasn't a word.

[SPEAKER_00]: that it's called Tudus.

[SPEAKER_00]: Tudus.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, some people hear that they might think it's on my passing guess.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about that at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Tudus, I don't know how to explain it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's apparently an antimine said it once used a little bitty and it just basically means all how cute it are in that something or what it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So basically, that's what it means.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's like kind of like a little affectionate order that you say, Tudus,

[SPEAKER_00]: I say, and it's kind of spread people who are even in the family setting up to this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and that's all sweet to this.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it means.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not a real word.

[SPEAKER_00]: Families have that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've met people like, someone will say something weird.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't know, oh, Kaka Baka, what's Kaka Baka?

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that family says it.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the point is an add-up to behind the word can be vulgar.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many times have you said a word or something?

[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, ooh, what do you say?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna make something up here.

[SPEAKER_00]: They said, Texapoe.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's the gas station.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and there's one guy I knew in nineteen ninety one said it in a movie, meaning it was a first word of now.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you said Texapoe, you're racist.

[SPEAKER_00]: What?

[SPEAKER_00]: What?

[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, please don't anyone start calling me racist.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said, Mexico.

[SPEAKER_00]: My point is, is that all of a sudden you say something and you're a bad person, because you say, folks, what happens?

[SPEAKER_00]: Now we become vulgar, because we're talking about sexual stuff, all because we say, Mexico.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's weird how one

[SPEAKER_00]: moment talking about this and that is perfectly fine.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of a sudden, another generation comes up and they change the meaning behind.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not so much the word but the attitude behind it and no, that's not a excuse to start cursing in my attitude was good and pure.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, you know what you know and you know it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let me go back to that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let no one wholesome word, this is Ephesian chapter four, plain nice though.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let no unwholesome word proceed out of your mouth.

[SPEAKER_00]: But only that, which is good for building up, that it may give grace to the listeners.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we're speaking in a spirit of just now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean that you should never say anything not nice?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, look, this is taking for granted, but also is taking out a context too.

[SPEAKER_00]: You hear people all the time, say, we're all in supposed to ever be nice, only nice stuff, all in nice stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: You still have to be honest.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by that I mean, but people say, well, wait a minute, what this person says, no, Jesus, you're sitting, you tell them, well, you're going to have a shit, no, that's not nice.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't lie to them.

[SPEAKER_00]: And make them feel safe.

[SPEAKER_00]: What if they're living in sin?

[SPEAKER_00]: You still be kind about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, don't go in.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to hell.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, be nice to them, but do with love and compassion, tell them the truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: If they think I'm going to go to heaven because I used to go to church.

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, that's not why we go to heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just going to say it to you right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you are in the pews of this church a day or if you're home now watching and you're watching this.

[SPEAKER_00]: or foolish talking, nor course joking, oh, Saturday Night Live.

[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-oh just about every person who's alive.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let there be no filthiness, or food is talking, or course joking, which are not fitted, or what's not fitting, instead give things, no way to mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean you can't tell Joe?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not what we're saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every comedian out there right now thinks, you're not funny unless you're vulgar, saying every other curse word, I would say, how many letters it doesn't matter how many letters it's the attitude, it's the filth, it's the value, no.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want time, I like this comedian whose name was Symbad.

[SPEAKER_00]: You still around, but he's had a stroke, so he can't do as much.

[SPEAKER_00]: Good Christian man.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was a, his father was a pastor.

[SPEAKER_00]: The people I've had many people when I was young who said, he's not funny because he won't curse.

[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have a courage to curse.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said, no, I say he has a curse not to.

[SPEAKER_00]: It has to courage to be unfilty.

[SPEAKER_00]: It takes more courage not to be of the world than to be of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: It takes courage not to be a part of a side that there's more folks of folks.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you were ever on a team in recess, mirror when you're kids, and you join the side of the team where there's three people playing, or the other side of the team where there's third team, I guarantee that when you join the side of the three, I think it's more courage to the side of the two knows going to win, and by the way, they're not going to win spiritually.

[SPEAKER_00]: But my point is, it takes a lot of courage.

[SPEAKER_00]: It takes a lot of courage.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is, is we're not to purposely speak foolishly and filthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying to you make filthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: When tomorrow you stub your toe, I hope you don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if you do, and if a filthy word comes out, though it's something that's I'm going to help.

[SPEAKER_00]: No.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is not that.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is if you do apologize and work on it, work on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's all.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, God's showing you weakness and is allowing you to see it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then work on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, I've got to.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's times that the way and what if you don't say it, you're saying it here, which means it's here.

[SPEAKER_00]: But now you must also put away all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy language out of your mouth.

[SPEAKER_00]: I love Dr. Dave Jeremiah.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said something this morning, it might have been from a week or two ago, that I disagreed with.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I agreed with him, and I disagreed with him at the same time.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said that

[SPEAKER_00]: if you find yourself, you know, ticked off at someone that anger was already inside of you.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why I say if you're in a situation where you know you're quick to anger, yeah, the situation if you can.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Christmas comes or Thanksgiving or a birthday or something

[SPEAKER_00]: You know you have to go to a family's house and that's okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what if you have a family member, you know gets on your able of a nurse?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, here's the thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you know you don't want to talk about politics with them or another subject or whatever else that gets under your skin, get out of that situation when it changes subject.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if they're just a kind of, I'm just going to say, if they're the kind of jerk who knows to get you, get you, get you, just walk away.

[SPEAKER_00]: If they just keep following you and find, say, hey, I'm not having any more.

[SPEAKER_00]: Remember what I always quote, first on four, four, greatest he was in me that he who's of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I wait a minute.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'll always say that's come at the devil.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you saying that my cousin or my son-in-law or my, my nephew is the devil?

[SPEAKER_00]: Your cousin, your nephew, your sister is being used like a puppet of the devil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, now I'm moving on to another part of big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Someone who had big jaws and we don't even hear about too much is Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So turn with me out to the book of Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah had big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah had big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now Jonah had big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pastor, I thought that he was eaten by a whale, not a shark.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, he wasn't.

[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't eaten by a shark, and he wasn't eaten by a whale.

[SPEAKER_00]: If he ate by a great fish, a big fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the fish right now is getting a puffed up head saying, see, they said, I'm great.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what they meant.

[SPEAKER_00]: That make your big.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, but anyway, so the thing is he was eating my fish, but even before that, Jonah had big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what do we mean by that?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's look at Jonah chapter one.

[SPEAKER_00]: It said this in Jonah chapter one, now the word of the Lord came to Jonah, son of a midday, or midday, midday.

[SPEAKER_00]: I excuse me, saying, get up.

[SPEAKER_00]: Go to Nine of the great city and cry out against it because their wickedness has come up before me.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what got told me to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: We understand what it's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, God is going to destroy Nineveh.

[SPEAKER_00]: These people are going to die.

[SPEAKER_00]: and Jonah had a job.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what does Jonah do?

[SPEAKER_00]: It says in verse three, but Jonah got up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: He went down to Japa and found there a ship going to Tarshish.

[SPEAKER_00]: He paid his fair and went down into it to go with him to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you two things, first of all, Tarshish.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nine of us is here.

[SPEAKER_00]: Partish is here.

[SPEAKER_00]: He went to the opposite direction.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now listen to these words to flee from where the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was running from God.

[SPEAKER_00]: So two things have to happen here.

[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, he had big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[SPEAKER_00]: Not because of what he said out here, what he was saying in his heart, what he was saying in his mind, because here's the thing you need to know about Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was scared to go to Nineveh.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pastor, why was he scared to go to Nineveh?

[SPEAKER_00]: Nineveh was known as a rough place.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now think of a place maybe down south of the river, whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you know of a neighborhood down there.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not even going to name a name.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you know of a neighborhood down there.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's rough.

[SPEAKER_00]: A rough area south of river.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's really rough.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you're afraid to go there because you know gains, you know of a drug dealing of theft or whatever, and you're scared to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so there's wisdom in that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how they, but then what if God tells you to go there, I'll be with you, but you have a job otherwise I'm going to destroy that area and your job is going preach and you say, okay, and then you decided to go in there, you're going to go all the way up to a northern area.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not really against them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're going against God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the thing is, is Nineveh was a rough area.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were most like pirates, pirates, type of folks were going there.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were rough.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were mean.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were praising other gods.

[SPEAKER_00]: And God was going to destroy them.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he went to opposite way running from the President of the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he went to JavaScript and said, running from God,

[SPEAKER_00]: But what did God do?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he brought a storm.

[SPEAKER_00]: He brought a storm.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the storm came upon him and he was in the bottom of the ship.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why was he in the bottom of the ship?

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's more comfortable there.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, he was hiding.

[SPEAKER_00]: He played hide and go seek.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was going, and God said, Marco, no, he did.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, Jonah, and Jonah didn't answer what happened was a storm is coming and all the sailors, all the people say, whoa, something's going on.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were yelling and praying after their gods.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're false gods.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they're trying to think and God allowed there's to happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: They said, we don't know what's going on.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to die because the waves were going to sew up above them and they were going to, they were so terrified.

[SPEAKER_00]: They went down to the bottom of the ship and they said, hey, wait up.

[SPEAKER_00]: They said, we can't figure out what's going on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe here, God's trying to get you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So Jonah, he knew the moment he knew.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, oh, man, throw me overboard.

[SPEAKER_00]: And well, they cast lots and they saw it was doing it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said throw me overboard.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they didn't want to do that because they did have a heart for me or not.

[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't want to throw them overboard, but it wasn't stopping.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they threw him overboard and he hit that water.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it all because he listened to his big jaws and not God's true words.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when he hit that water, a moment he hit the water, guess what happened?

[SPEAKER_00]: The storm stopped.

[SPEAKER_00]: But God had made a great fish, specifically for this, specifically for this situation.

[SPEAKER_00]: But pastor, how did God know he's God?

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows what you're going to do twenty years from now.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows if I'll be here twenty years from now.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows exactly what's going to happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: How could he, you know, his God?

[SPEAKER_00]: He knew you were going to be sitting in this pew listening to me or at home watching me.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knew that way before, back when Abraham Lincoln was giving his address, you know, you was going to be here now.

[SPEAKER_00]: How could he, you know, that his God, the creator, he'd create the whole universe and he didn't know what he was going to be wearing today, by the way, you all look vulnerable.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he knew, he knew, he knew, he knew, because he's God, they're all knowing, omniscient.

[SPEAKER_00]: omnipresent, the point is that I know.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so by the time we get the chapter two and Jonah hit that water, he was swallowed by that big fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, why was he afraid?

[SPEAKER_00]: Why was he afraid?

[SPEAKER_00]: In first of all, where is Niva?

[SPEAKER_00]: Nena, Niva, is he was very prejudiced towards the Niva, but Niva

[SPEAKER_00]: is the Syrian city near modern day muscle in Iraq.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where it is.

[SPEAKER_00]: And also, it's near the Tigris River.

[SPEAKER_00]: But what did they worship?

[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about their false gods.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, actually, they had, I don't know about a godness, sir, but they had a goddess, same thing in the sense of this woman.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's called Ishtar.

[SPEAKER_00]: Ishtar is what they worshiped.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so they had that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by the time we get to chapter two, when he hit that water, he was swallowed by the big fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he lived in the belly of the big fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, why do people call it a whale?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, a couple of reasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes scientists use this scientist, don't know where they're talking about when it comes to the Bible.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking about true scientists.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about scientists who say that we're created billions of Europeans a year ago by nothing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But these people will say, well, a man can't live in a belly of a fish, only of a whale.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, guess what?

[SPEAKER_00]: If God especially created a fish just for this, he can do anything he wants.

[SPEAKER_00]: But don't tell God something.

[SPEAKER_00]: You listen to God let him tell you something about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing is is that whenever he was swallowed by this fish and he lived in there, he was inside there in the chapter two.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking to God the whole time.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're listening to God to talk to him and he had a change of heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was no longer listening to the big jaws of himself.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he was now listening to the true jaws of God, the true mouth of God, the true words of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he was changing.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I'm gonna go God's way.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows better.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we need to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now let's talk about the big jaws of the fish, the big jaws of the fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever heard, have you ever heard the phrase, gonna need a bigger boat?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where the movie Jaws, but you know, you know, that wasn't in the script.

[SPEAKER_00]: The actor came up with that when they were doing it.

[SPEAKER_00]: A great line still done this day.

[SPEAKER_00]: Too often, we Christians of people that try to make up what we're going to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we tell ourselves we're going to need a bigger boat.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to need a bigger boat.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, in truth, other people say, I'm going to need a bigger mouth that becomes a problem.

[SPEAKER_00]: We have two big of a mouth.

[SPEAKER_00]: How about this?

[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna need a bigger heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: And here's a better one.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna need bigger ears now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking physically because I've seen people with ears that are pretty big.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking spiritually.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of just hearing, we need to start listening, not to self, not listening to self, listening to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs, chapter three,

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse one through seven.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is what it says.

[SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs chapter three, verse one through seven.

[SPEAKER_00]: My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments.

[SPEAKER_00]: For length of days and long life and peace will they add to you, do not let mercy and truth forsake you.

[SPEAKER_00]: bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, so you will find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lead not on your own understanding in all your ways of acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not be wise in your own eyes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: It will be health to your body and strength to your bones.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I went to verse eight on that.

[SPEAKER_00]: By the time we get to chapter three, something else happens.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: gets puked out, puked out to the shore.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you see, Jonah went to the opposite side of Nineveh, but God said, not a bigger boat, but a bigger fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he had that fish taken to where he was supposed to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: To Nineveh, you see the thing is, his God will take us and send us to where we're supposed to go if we will just listen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not listen with our big jaws, but listen with a big heart and the big ears of spirituality, what's we should.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, he went.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when he went, he had a true heart, even though he'd been puked as it goes, this is gross.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why would God do this?

[SPEAKER_00]: No, he got up off the shore.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if he watched himself.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he went, he walked a day, he's walking, went in into the book.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he spoke to the people and he preached the word of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, God is going to destroy the city.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the people heard it and listened and the word got back to those in charge.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they decided that they were going to do something different.

[SPEAKER_00]: They decided to change just like Jonah decided to change in the belly of the fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: They decided to change.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what do they do?

[SPEAKER_00]: They started setting in burnt ashes and they decided to cover themselves and decided to change completely.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the difference between having a big mouth, having a big heart, having a big ears, that listen and change completely.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, in the movie, it's odd.

[SPEAKER_00]: There is a part where they have these great, big, yellow barrels.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they can see where the shark was.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know what they did that?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking about in the movie, but why they did that while making the movie, because it couldn't get that shark to work.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so they had to have it where you knew where the shark was and end up being some of the best things in the film.

[SPEAKER_00]: You see, some of the accidents happen to be in the best thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But they had the big yellow barrels indicated where the big jaws of the shark was.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was near.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just when you thought it was a safe to ease in your service to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just when you thought it was safe to ease in your service to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: God sometimes send big yellow barrels to show you that you need to see if there's still big jaws around.

[SPEAKER_00]: The big inner mouth, yes, to speaking.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we're not to ease.

[SPEAKER_00]: If we start taking the easy and our service to God, problems happen, your big jaws will start coming back.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you start to ease and your service to God, you'll start getting away again.

[SPEAKER_00]: And just when you thought it was safe to take it easy and your service to God, all of a sudden, here came those big yellow barrels, the Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's what happens to chapter four, well, Jonah was telling everyone they were gonna die.

[SPEAKER_00]: And here's a horrible thing that Jonah did.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was almost up before to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: He got up to the top of the mountain, look before to see what God was gonna do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what, when he saw it wasn't gonna happen, he got mad, got mad about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what do God do?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, God, he had a vine grow, a great big vine.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he ended up loving that vine.

[SPEAKER_00]: He folks, if he could have, he would have built something, I'm just adding this in.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he would have lived under that vine.

[SPEAKER_00]: All he loved that vine.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what?

[SPEAKER_00]: He loved the vine so, so much.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then the night came, and at night, there came a little warm, and a warm ate up that, you know, you know, how the worms and bugs are, they ate of the vine.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by the time he woke up the next day,

[SPEAKER_00]: as it vines their fauna part and he was so mad.

[SPEAKER_00]: He says, oh, it's not fair.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my vine is gone.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wish I was up and die.

[SPEAKER_00]: And God called out to Jonah and he said, here you are heartbroken and mad and wish you could die over a vine that you did not, that you did not plant, that you did not do anything with.

[SPEAKER_00]: And yet this great city of Nineveh with all these people, with all these people.

[SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't have minded if they had died.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Jonah had a change of heart once again.

[SPEAKER_00]: He had a great change of heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he realized that he had gone back to the big jaws moment, allowing his big jaws to get in the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what is my point of all this?

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, that you will serve the Lord God and you will do well.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if you don't continue to open up the big ears and the big heart, allow your little mind to be moved on God,

[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't keep your eye on the big yellow barrels of the Holy Spirit to move you and keep your eye those big jaws will come back and you'll see that big yellow barrel because the Holy Spirit needs to remind you you still got big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: and it's gonna get in the way, if you're not careful, and why?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're still an imperfect being, but you have the perfect Christ inside you, but that doesn't make you perfect, it makes him perfect, who has saved you beyond your imperfection.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to remember that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to remember that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Big jaws, big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Be careful of what your big jaws say.

[SPEAKER_00]: Be careful of what your big jaws say.

[SPEAKER_00]: Turning with me now,

[SPEAKER_00]: As we're nearly done, turn with me on to Matthew, chapter twelve, thirty one, through forty one.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matthew chapter twelve, thirty one, through forty one.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it says, Jesus said,

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, I say to you, all kinds of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever, excuse me, whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit,

[SPEAKER_00]: will not be forgiven neither in this world nor the world to come.

[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: That means do not deny the spirit when it tries to tell you to come to Christ and ask for forgiveness of your sins.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, people all times ask what that means because they think, oh, oh, if I said something bad, I'm not going to have that.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not what it means.

[SPEAKER_00]: It means when the Holy Spirit comes to you and tries to tell you, you need to ask forgiveness of your sins and you deny that, that's what it means.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to have it because folks, you could go to heaven or for the Holy Spirit anyway.

[SPEAKER_00]: It couldn't be done.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it means.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to move on now.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse thirty three either make the tree good and it's fruit good or else make the tree corrupt and it's fruit corrupt for the tree is known by his fruit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh generation of vipers, how can you being able to be good things for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

[SPEAKER_00]: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things and an evil man out of the treasure brings forth evil things.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say to you that for every idol war that men speak, they will give an account on the day of judgment.

[SPEAKER_00]: For by your words, you will be justified.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by your words, you will be condemned.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then some scribes and Pharisees

[SPEAKER_00]: said to him, teacher, we wish to see a sign from you, but he answered them, an evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign.

[SPEAKER_00]: And no sign will be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: So with a son of man, be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

[SPEAKER_00]: The men and Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and will condemn it because they repented and they're preaching of Jonah.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now one greater than Jonah is here.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll stop there.

[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, if you have a King James, it used a phrase whale.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is another reason why people sometimes get that confused.

[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't because Jesus was wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's because the interpretation was wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's all.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing wrong with that, but I'm saying, you know, okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says a Matthew fifteen eighteen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matthew fifteen eighteen.

[SPEAKER_00]: But those things which proceed out of the mouth comes from the heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they defile a man.

[SPEAKER_00]: They defile a man.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we as Christians need to put away the big jaws and the jaws of horrendous words and horrendous speaking yes, even horrendous speaking in the mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: What got Jonah in trouble?

[SPEAKER_00]: Was it because we have, he didn't say it out loud.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he said it in his heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said in his mind, therefore his actions came about.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to be careful of things that we say.

[SPEAKER_00]: We need to be careful of things that we say.

[SPEAKER_00]: People said, yeah, but I didn't say it out loud.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you said it in your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: You said in your mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: So be very careful.

[SPEAKER_00]: By our actions we are known.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that will what we say in a heart in mind will come true.

[SPEAKER_00]: Your actions.

[SPEAKER_00]: So be very careful.

[SPEAKER_00]: Be careful of your big jaws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure that we listen with our big spiritual ears.

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to what?

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Make it be that our jaws get a little smaller, but let it be the words not of you, but the words of Christ.

[SPEAKER_00]: And let me close with Luke six, forty five.

[SPEAKER_00]: out of the treasure of his heart bears what is good.

[SPEAKER_00]: And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bears what is evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now today, we've spoken about a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: And as we look upon our hearts, we can see a lot of good and a lot of bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes we were so busy talking, we sometimes don't even listen to things we say.

[SPEAKER_00]: And as this week goes on, make sure you pay attention.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're so sometimes busy listening to others, it's good sometimes that hear ourselves.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if we start paying attention to what we say, we might be appalled.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know I am when I start to listen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said, you know, I should have said that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why did I say that?

[SPEAKER_00]: You know why?

[SPEAKER_00]: because I'm so busy just stepped up to kick the big jaws, but I'm not paying attention what the Lord has me to say.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, earlier today in San Francisco, we spoke of Peter.

[SPEAKER_00]: Peter, when he was speaking, he spoke a lot of stupidity.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when he shut up and he allowed the Lord Jesus to speak how things changed for the Roth, didn't it?

[SPEAKER_00]: Receive us.

[SPEAKER_00]: The same can happen for you and it will just let him do the talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: And our jaws will change.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's close and prayer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that you speak to us today and through us always.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray our lives will change from this day on.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray a Lord God, our talking will change.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our listening will change.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our hearing will change.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray our lives will change.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for those Lord God who are about to go on that big adventure.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for those Lord God who are about to go through difficulties.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray for those Lord God who are going through difficulties now, whether it be mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray Lord God you will show the answers right now, Lord God there are some who are terrified, who are scared, and that's okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they have reason to be, but I pray Lord that you will show them, and Lord that you also show them that they're not alone, that you're with them through their difficult times, that you will help them through it, and that you will heal them through it Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray Lord God that you will comfort them in this difficult time, and I pray Lord Jesus Christ, that you will give them the answers, and that you will speak it to them, and even through them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray all of this in your holy and precious name, Lord Jesus and all the people said Amen and Amen.
