First Sermon On.... Moment of Truth Bible Baptist 2/8/26

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's all turn to Matthew chapter 4, verse 23, which 25.

Matthew 4:23

[SPEAKER_00]: And once you turn to Matthew chapter 4, verse 23 to 25, you can please stand to honor the reading of God's word.

Matthew 4:23–25

[SPEAKER_00]: And I appreciate it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he says this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus went throughout all Galilee teaching and their synagogues preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing all kinds of sickness and all sorts of diseases among the people.

[SPEAKER_00]: His fame went throughout all Syria and they brought to him all sick people who were taken with various diseases and tormented with pain, those who were possessed with demons, those

[SPEAKER_00]: and he healed them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Great crowds followed him from Galilee that the capitalist, Jerusalem, Judea and from beyond the Jordan.

[SPEAKER_00]: God bless the reading of his word and you may be seated.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now last week, last week we talked about as certainly called promises promises.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now we weren't able to air it unfortunately, but that's what we spoke about last week.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when we spoke on that sermon about the promises,

[SPEAKER_00]: We mentioned Matthew chapter five and I spoke about how with that wonderful chapter, Matthew chapter five, there was a place in there in which it had been misused by different people in my life and not just in my life, but through sermons before, how people miss understand different parts of that chapter and Matthew chapter five.

[SPEAKER_00]: how people will speak about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that part, Matthew K. to five, was on the Mount of Beatitudes.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that place.

[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I almost brought something out here, I didn't.

[SPEAKER_00]: But something I'd received from that area in my life when I went there 25 years ago.

[SPEAKER_00]: But in reality, it's a beautiful place.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when I was up there, I remember saying it was the closest to paradise I'd ever been.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a beautiful, beautiful place.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they have built a temple up there and everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: because it's gorgeous.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's beautiful trees and palm trees and everything else.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when you see it, you just wonder how anyone could love something more, there's not the more beautiful in this world than that place, however, but see the more beautiful is the words that Jesus spoke.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus spoke such wonderful words up there.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what was Jesus doing up there?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll see, we're gonna take a look at it.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's notice that Mount of Beatitudes is known as that mountain, so very, very well.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it is so beautiful, and I mentioned it, it was January 16th, 2001, that was up there.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a paradise.

[SPEAKER_00]: I remember saying that it's the most beautiful one I've ever seen in my life.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was on that mountain that Jesus gave us first sermon.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now that doesn't mean he didn't hate it, he hadn't spoken to people, he'd already given one of us, talks to people, he'd already healed a couple of people just a few.

[SPEAKER_00]: He'd already caused a miracle.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know he turned the water in a wine.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know he'd already talked to them.

[SPEAKER_00]: He'd already been to the temple and it gave him a little bit of a talk there.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But this is his first real sermon.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now this is important, it's very, very important.

[SPEAKER_00]: So now what we're going to do is talk about what this first sermon was and why we're going to, this is going to be a different sermon for me than usual.

[SPEAKER_00]: Usually I give you, I would talk about certain points.

[SPEAKER_00]: If we go through certain scriptures, talking about what this points are.

[SPEAKER_00]: But this time what we're going to do, and that's why I started the Matthew chapter 4, and we're going to in Matthew chapter 8.

[SPEAKER_00]: But before we do that, what we're going to do is we're going to go through Matthew chapter 5, 6 and 7, so what we're going to do, we're going to go through all the chapters of Matthew chapter 5, Matthew chapter 6 and Matthew chapter 7.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I have to read.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to talk about what these chapters mean, because that is the sermon on the mount.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the title today's sermon is called First Sermon On.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Pastor, that's just silly.

[SPEAKER_00]: We already know where the sermon was.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're going to get to that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go through all of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: But first, let's go to Matthew chapter five, which is the sermon on the mound.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the very first sermon.

[SPEAKER_00]: as the first sermon in his ministry in Jesus' ministry.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's many years of misunderstanding for over 400 years before this, before Jesus spoke, before the sermon, but for over 400 years of false teachers, false traditions.

[SPEAKER_00]: traditions of self-actions that would save people, because the laws had been taught.

[SPEAKER_00]: The laws were taught by the teachers.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now they had taught about the commandments.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this was a port, that law doesn't change.

[SPEAKER_00]: The commandments are still important.

[SPEAKER_00]: But these people, the Pharisees and such, they had been teaching that these actions were going to save them.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were waiting for a Messiah to come that would take out the Romans.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were looking to God's Word to do what they wanted to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, do you realize that people still do that to this day?

[SPEAKER_00]: They look to the Word of God to fulfill their understanding, their access to even Christians do because they're so ignorant.

[SPEAKER_00]: They listen to them own brains and not to the Holy Spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you that way?

[SPEAKER_00]: If so, listen up today.

[SPEAKER_00]: You best listen.

[SPEAKER_00]: because perhaps guys speaking like he's spoken to me, he gets you to shut up to open your spiritual ears, to change your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's had to do that to me, maybe he has to do you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they had nothing but traditions, self-actions to save yourselves, laws, Jewish faith, which is known as Judaism today.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're not talking about the race, by the way, we're talking about their ways or laws.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this was called the Beatitudes.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a setting ground for his ministry.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a blueprint, you see, what one needs to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he had already been baptized.

[SPEAKER_00]: He already gone through the 40 days of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's already spoken of temple like we call before.

[SPEAKER_00]: He had already called the disciples, at least some of them.

[SPEAKER_00]: There had been some miracles, like I said, he was making a reputation.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was making that reputation.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now it was time for the sermon to be taught, to preach the people, to give them some understanding,

[SPEAKER_00]: Not that long ago, I have a thing called replace station five.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we reset things on there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, it raced things.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't mean it to.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was irritating.

[SPEAKER_00]: But have you ever reset things?

[SPEAKER_00]: Had to reset your clock on your VCR or whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it goes zero, zero, zero, zero for every today.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, midnight midnight.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever had to reset things in your vehicle?

[SPEAKER_00]: Then you're bad or you're whatever.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've had to do reset.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus was trying to reset the thinking of these people.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he's had to reset your thinking before.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming I'm assuming he had to do the same with them.

[SPEAKER_00]: So let's now go to chapter five of Matthew.

[SPEAKER_00]: It says, now seeing the crowds, he went over the years, went up on the mountain.

[SPEAKER_00]: And when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

[SPEAKER_00]: The disciples, by the way, in this case, means followers.

[SPEAKER_00]: It means followers.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we know the apostles, those disciples, but the disciples mean to follow your disciples, in a sense.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he, in first to, he began speaking and taught them saying, blessed set of the poor and spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are the pure and heart for they shall see God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you when you when men revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let's say when I said false or excuse me, let's want to use it falsely for his sake.

[SPEAKER_00]: rejoice and be very glad because great is your reward in heaven for in this manner.

[SPEAKER_00]: They persecuted the prophets who were before you.

[SPEAKER_00]: It goes on to say, in verse 13, you are the salt of the earth.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if the salt loses the saltiness, how shall it be made salty?

[SPEAKER_00]: It is from then on good for nothing, but to be thrown out and to be trampled under the foot by men.

[SPEAKER_00]: You are the light of the world.

[SPEAKER_00]: A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

[SPEAKER_00]: Neither do men, light a candle, and put it under a bushel or a basket in this case.

[SPEAKER_00]: But on a candlestick, and it gives light to all who are in the house, let your light so shy me for men, that they may see your good works.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say it again.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let your light so shy me for men, that they may see good works, and glorify your father

[SPEAKER_00]: He then goes on to say him for 17.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have not come to abolish but to fulfill.

[SPEAKER_00]: For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one dot,

[SPEAKER_00]: or one mark will pass from the law until all be fulfilled.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever does and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 20, for I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna say it one more time.

[SPEAKER_00]: For I say to you, unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's saying they're not righteous.

[SPEAKER_00]: Those have been teaching them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 21, you have heard that it was said by the ancients, you shall not murder.

[SPEAKER_00]: And whoever murders shall be in danger of the judgment.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now let's say they get without a cause.

[SPEAKER_00]: Shall be in danger of the judgment.

[SPEAKER_00]: And whoever says to his brother,

[SPEAKER_00]: No, what does rock I mean?

[SPEAKER_00]: It means worthless.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, whoever says just brother Raka shall be in danger of the Sanhedrin, the Sanhedrin were people who were always trying to take other people out.

[SPEAKER_00]: They were extremist, in other words.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now we see extremist all the time on television.

[SPEAKER_00]: Straight extremist who want to take out folks and

[SPEAKER_00]: called them unworthy worthless.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they're saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, but whoever says you fool shall be in danger of hellfire.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, by the way, fool means another, in other words, foolish means worthless.

[SPEAKER_00]: Those are stupid.

[SPEAKER_00]: This doesn't the same as being ignorant.

[SPEAKER_00]: like we know because I remember I know Christians who said you should never call a gesture or fool.

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, that's not the same as saying there is no God.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the same at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: I know that it could be dangerous.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what it's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we got to understand this.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, first 23.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar and there, remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, yeah, therefore, I'm going to say again, leave your gift there before the altar and go on your way, first be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift.

[SPEAKER_00]: Reconciled with your adversary quickly while you are on the way with him, last your adversary delivering you to the judge and the judge delivering you to the officer and you be thrown

[SPEAKER_00]: You will, by no means, come out of there until you have paid the last penny.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, pay your debt as we're saying to the people that you get problems with.

[SPEAKER_00]: It goes on the same for 27.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have heard that it was said by the angels, you should not commit adultery.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery, with her already in his heart,

[SPEAKER_00]: And if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away for it is profitable that one of your members should perish.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'll say again, for it is profitable that one of your members should perish and not that your whole body be thrown into hell.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish and not that your whole body be thrown into hell.

[SPEAKER_00]: He goes on the same verse 31.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was said whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife except for marital unfaithfulness causes her to commit adultery and whoever marries her who is the force commits adultery.

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you have heard that it was said by the ancients,

[SPEAKER_00]: This is verse 33, by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you have heard that it was said, by the ancients, you shall not swear falsely.

[SPEAKER_00]: But, Shaofe, feel your oath through the Lord.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this was the verse.

[SPEAKER_00]: And are the verses that we read last time.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say to you, do not swear at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: Either by heaven, or it is God's throne.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nor by the earth, for it is his fustle, for by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nor shall you swear by your head because you cannot make one hair white or black.

[SPEAKER_00]: But let your yes mean yes and no me know for whatever is more than these comes from the evil one.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this says in verse 38, you have heard that it was said, and I for an eye,

[SPEAKER_00]: and a tooth for a tooth, but I say to you, do not resist an evil person, but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him and do other, excuse me, turn to him, the other as well.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if anyone sues you in a court of law and takes away your tunic, let him have your cloak also, and whoever compels you to go a mile, go with him too.

[SPEAKER_00]: Give to him who asks you, and from him who would borrow from you, do not turn away.

[SPEAKER_00]: It goes on to tell us to love our enemies and it says this.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have heard that it was said, this verse 33, you have heard that it was said, you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy, but I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good for those who hate you and pray for those who spifily use and persecute you.

[SPEAKER_00]: that you may be sons of your father who is in heaven for he makes his son to rise on the evil and on the good and since rain on the just and on the unjust for if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not even the task collectors do the same, and if you greet your brothers only what are you doing more that others do not even text collectors do the same keep in mind he's saying that it's not because he thinks bad on text collectors, but he knows that they do.

[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, it's a task collectors writing this down Matthew.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to understand that, a law you're in them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, and if you reach your brothers only, what are you just verse 47 again?

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you greet your brothers only, what are you doing more than others?

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not even the tax voters do so.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, be perfect, even as your father, who is in heaven is perfect.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm stopping there for a minute.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's chapter five.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lie.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we're gonna move on before I do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me explain to you what Jesus is doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is explaining to them, all the things they've been taught.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go by law alone, and you read only these words, and you read only the things that have been taught by the law,

[SPEAKER_00]: and you read only word for word.

[SPEAKER_00]: These things gonna be misconstrued.

[SPEAKER_00]: And misunderstood, it's kind of like what people do all the time in the news.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you go only word for word, what you hear of certain channels, it's gonna make certain people look guilty before you even hear what others are saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you go only in the Word of God, it makes a sound as if you're supposed to take an eye out.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you've done wrong, that's not what it's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of times it's speaking figuratively, it's speaking in a whole other way, but there's, but others take it literally.

[SPEAKER_00]: I knew of a personal one time who literally thought that they were supposed to take their eye out.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not kidding you.

[SPEAKER_00]: They literally thought that they were supposed to take their eye out because they thought they were perfect.

[SPEAKER_00]: You'll focus on not perfect.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're never going to be perfect.

[SPEAKER_00]: And these statements in here that Jesus was speaking to them was to state that their law that they had learned from the law givers, the Pharisees and others, were incorrect, not that the ancients were incorrect, not that the Jewish way was incorrect.

[SPEAKER_00]: but that they had made it incorrect by years and years and years and years of humanity, that their human way was incorrect.

[SPEAKER_00]: So why was he giving in such a way that could be misused?

[SPEAKER_00]: Walk, tell you why.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not because Jesus is incorrect, but the people that take it misuse it isn't correct.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: We do it to this day.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen people take many of the things that we just said.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I told you one last week, right here in verses 33,

[SPEAKER_00]: through 37.

[SPEAKER_00]: It tells us that we're supposed to not make promises.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is a tell us not to make promises.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's saying not to make false promises.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's telling us not to lie.

[SPEAKER_00]: We already know we're not supposed to make lies.

[SPEAKER_00]: But someone could take those words and just skew it just a little bit and say, you're not supposed to make a promise.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's not what Christ is saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know that now.

[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about last week.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the truth is, is this whole

[SPEAKER_00]: of sermon on the map has been misused and don't worry we're going to get there we're going to go through all these things.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things on here that was said this but he says it straight out that even your tax collectors, the people that they thought Portia, even your tax collectors aren't supposed to be this way.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words he's speaking them on their level.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the parables are all about what he gets to later on in his life.

[SPEAKER_00]: He speaks in a level they can understand.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why a lot of times, I speak what I used to call fillables to the kids.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would, I would a lot of times fill in the gaps for the children to understand on levels of stories that could get.

[SPEAKER_00]: I speak in a way that people can understand.

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of times we'll tell you stories.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the same thing that Dr. Adrian Rogers used to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Reverend Reverend Billy Graham and others will talk in stories of the news stories to communicate.

[SPEAKER_00]: so that they will understand.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus did the same.

[SPEAKER_00]: He did the same.

[SPEAKER_00]: He said, I for nine, two, three, two.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was in my law.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was, but it wasn't being literal.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was saying, if someone took something from you, give them the same time at equally.

[SPEAKER_00]: What was he really doing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is setting up to say that they were sinners.

[SPEAKER_00]: and that Jesus was going to die to fulfill things for them.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get to all that later.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's not go to chapter six, because we still got a lot to read.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see what it says in chapter six.

[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, we already talked about the first sermon.

[SPEAKER_00]: The second part here is sermon on the mount.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know it's a sermon on the mount.

[SPEAKER_00]: We know that.

[SPEAKER_00]: What is Jesus doing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is correctly resetting any racing things they had learned, rebuilding things.

[SPEAKER_00]: taking away the false doctrine or the false interpretation and teaching true gospel.

[SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever had to do that where someone has now, how about if there's anyone here who works with cars and all, maybe someone has heard through the great vine the way to do things and they've messed up their vehicle and you've had to, if you've ever had a work on you had to reset it because someone messed it up.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've, you know, it's, it happens.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or how about your house?

[SPEAKER_00]: Is someone with reset your heat because they thought, or whatever it was?

[SPEAKER_00]: Something in your house is being reset.

[SPEAKER_00]: They did something wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you had to go reset the whole thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: It happens often in your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have to reset something that someone did incorrectly in your life.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, God is trying to reset what they're used to.

[SPEAKER_00]: Trying to take away in a race there, have this.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need to see any hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll raise mine.

[SPEAKER_00]: I ain't in what you would call a habitual person.

[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be careful how they say that it can sound bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm a habit for a person very badly.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you are too.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think all of us are at times.

[SPEAKER_00]: We all have different habits, I'm a habitual man.

[SPEAKER_00]: All of us have habits, and we get into a mode.

[SPEAKER_00]: We get into a way of doing things, and we don't like to change sometimes.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we got to change.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is what Jesus is doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've got news to tradition.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've got news to it, but I'm going to reset it and make it correct to tell you the sad truth.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of them still haven't been set correct, but many of them have.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe even as Christians, we get set in the tradition of how we worship, of how we hear things of emotional traditions.

[SPEAKER_00]: I can't go to that church because it doesn't make me feel the way I like to feel.

[SPEAKER_00]: therefore is first to therefore when you do your charitable deeds do not sound the trumpet before

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, when you do your charitable deeds, verse two, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites doing the synagogues and industries that they may be honored by men.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when you do your charitable deeds,

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not let the left hand know what your right hand is doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why I wore this tie by the way.

[SPEAKER_00]: This tie is the Lord's Prayer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Listen what it says.

[SPEAKER_00]: In chapter 6 verse 5, when you pray, you should not be like the hypocrites for they love to pray, standing in the synagogues and on the street corners that they may be seen by men, truly I say to you that they have their reward, but you and you pray

[SPEAKER_00]: And when you have shut your door, pray to your father, who is in secret, and your father who sees you in secret or award you open, and let me stop for just a second.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why we have things like prayer causes.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you have one.

[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't mean you literally have a cause that you get in, but you have a private place so that you can be alone with God.

[SPEAKER_00]: But this too has been misconstrued.

[SPEAKER_00]: Misunderstood.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I've heard this been said many times.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're not supposed to pray out loud.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard it said a lot of times, but a lot of people with some people I've known very, very well.

[SPEAKER_00]: They just take this one verse and they misunderstand it.

[SPEAKER_00]: They think that means if you pray out loud, for instance, at the end of the sermon, I'll ask someone to pray out loud.

[SPEAKER_00]: that doesn't mean that you, that person's a braggados discreet, doesn't mean that at all.

[SPEAKER_00]: What it means is the people that pray out loud if they pray out loud for the reason, like the Pharisees did, to be braggados just to be prideful to say, Lord God, look at a wonderful prideful life.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what is wrong.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing a kind of jokingly, but folks, that's true.

[SPEAKER_00]: People were doing that.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a great tiger in the sky, I've heard of that person who wants to pray that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: I do a guy one time to give a, this is used to be the church many years ago when I was a boy, they would pretty much redo the sermon after the sermon.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember when my father used to call on this individual, he'd be like, no, oh, dad, why didn't you call on him?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because I knew he was going to be there for at least 10 minutes.

[SPEAKER_00]: And, oh, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a horrible thing, because you knew that they were going to do just what this is telling you not to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: You had to be careful, by the way, I'm not trying to judge any of those of you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Good fellow lovin' can't what you seem to have.

[SPEAKER_00]: The point is that you got to be careful.

[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta be careful to be doing it for the right reasons, not for the wrong reasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: So this is what it goes on to say.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you, when you pray, enter your closet, verse 6, enter your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your father who is in secret, and your father who sees in secret or award you openly.

[SPEAKER_00]: But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as, uh,

[SPEAKER_00]: where they think they will be heard for their much speaking.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not be like them for your father knows what things you have need of before you ask him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore pray in this manner.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our father who is in heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Hallelujah be your name.

[SPEAKER_00]: Your kingdom come.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're will be done on earth as it isn't him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

[SPEAKER_00]: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: This makes people think that if you haven't forgiven someone of what they've done wrong to you, you can't be saved.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard people say this before, that's not what it's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's saying that when you don't forgive people, that's a sin that's hanging on to you because that saves heavy on your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't raise hands, don't raise hands.

[SPEAKER_00]: How many of you have had someone who's done something terribly wrong to you?

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's been so hard for you to let go.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it wasn't done to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's done to a loved one.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I have a harder time.

[SPEAKER_00]: I could forgive people like that, not hard for me at all, but maybe you saw someone who did something wrong to your daddy or your mama or your child.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you would like to just swat them across the munch with, because you know, you love that person and it's difficult for you, especially you mama's.

[SPEAKER_00]: Your babies, who is a part of you physically, you see someone hurt your baby and you want to come out like, like, a lion, really, it's understandable.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you got to forgive to you.

[SPEAKER_00]: Why not because of the other person.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's good.

[SPEAKER_00]: You want to forgive them.

[SPEAKER_00]: You want to love them to still.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking about letting your baby be hurt.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, Oh, well, they don't matter.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: What I'm saying is it hurts you.

[SPEAKER_00]: It sits on your heart and it hurts your heart.

[SPEAKER_00]: Pick that up off your heart and let it go.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's heavy on your heart, it will hurt you forever and ever, and that's why God says, the forgiveness sins are your father came for give your sins.

[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, you've not let go of it, so therefore it's still there as the sinning on to it.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he's saying.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now I move on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 16, move over when you fast.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do not be like the hip-acraced.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do we need to fast?

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's important once in a while.

[SPEAKER_00]: don't make it a repetition.

[SPEAKER_00]: I knew of a guy, what time we told me, trust every Tuesday, because that's what I do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, whether you go once again, and everybody what you do, and they took me a while.

[SPEAKER_00]: I did, I have, and everyone's a great while I will.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't do it often, and I don't do it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't make it a repetition, because then that becomes a habit too, and it's not a spiritual matter.

[SPEAKER_00]: Fast things are spiritual matter, and some of us have very hard time doing that because of medications and other things.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you need to be careful when you do that too.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't do it for the wrong reasons because once again, this is what he's talking about.

[SPEAKER_00]: The hypocrites do it for the wrong reasons.

[SPEAKER_00]: So here we go.

[SPEAKER_00]: Moreover, when you fast for a 16, when you fast do not be like the hypocrites with a sad, countenance that means your face for they did figure their faces.

[SPEAKER_00]: So they may appear to men to be fasting.

[SPEAKER_00]: Truly, I say to you, they have their reward.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the face they make like like stand member of a lower hearty when you make that face.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they're doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: They want you to know what they're going through.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 17, but you, when you fast anoint your head and watch your face so that you will not appear to meant to be fasting.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 13, or 19, do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where math and rest destroy, and where thieves break in and steal, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whether near neither math nor rest destroy, where thieves do not break in nor steal for where your treasure is, your heart be also.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you just talked about that earlier in Chinese school, didn't we, mentioned it?

[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's a well-known thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it's true.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then we go on to say, I'm first going to the light of the body is the eye.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if your eye is unclear, your whole body will be full of darkness.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, if the light that is in your in you is darkness, how great is that darkness?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so what you just do is clean out that dirty closet in the mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: And of knowing and knowledge and belief.

[SPEAKER_00]: So what he's doing here.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if your eye is unclear, verse 23, if your eye is unclear, I already read that, but I'll read again.

[SPEAKER_00]: But if your eye is unclear, your whole body is full of darkness.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness?

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 24, no one can serve two masters.

[SPEAKER_00]: for either he will hate the one and love the other.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or he will hold to the one and despise the other.

[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot serve God and money, a folks before you go looking at just a rich.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't serve God and sports either.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't serve God and lust.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't serve God and collectibles.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't serve God and food.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever it is you have problem with, make sure God comes for God and romance.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have to be careful.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen people, God, let me find a woman.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let me get the woman.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, have time for God.

[SPEAKER_00]: I need God in the man.

[SPEAKER_00]: If I get a man, I don't have time for God anymore.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have to wrestle all the time, just like you do, I have to wrestle all the time with it, just like you.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're human beings.

[SPEAKER_00]: And not even realizing our minds can be pushed, things that we pushed around our minds, and it's before long, God takes the back seat and it shouldn't be that way.

[SPEAKER_00]: It shouldn't be that way, but it happens.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've got to be careful with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 25, therefore I say to you, take no thought about your life, what you will eat or what you would drink, nor about your body, what you will put on, is it not more than food and the body than clothing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Look at the birds of the air!

[SPEAKER_00]: For they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them.

[SPEAKER_00]: Are you not much better than they?

[SPEAKER_00]: Who among you by taking thought can add a tube it to his statue?

[SPEAKER_00]: Why kicks out about clothing?

[SPEAKER_00]: Consider the lilies of the field.

[SPEAKER_00]: how they grow, they neither work nor do they spend.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's efficient to the day, it's a trouble there of, and that is chapter six.

[SPEAKER_00]: But you see, people miss quote that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they think that means you're not supposed to have things.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've had people say, over and over, God doesn't want you to have clothes.

[SPEAKER_00]: God doesn't want you to have a car.

[SPEAKER_00]: God doesn't want you to have a job.

[SPEAKER_00]: God doesn't want you to collect.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have people saying my dad was materialistic, because he was a collector of Coca-Cola stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: And other things, I'm a mere tierialist.

[SPEAKER_00]: I got quite nonsense.

[SPEAKER_00]: But here's the thing, God isn't saying you're bad because you may have a collection of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or you may be a bad person because you have clothes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how bad you are because you have shoes to wear.

[SPEAKER_00]: And also what he's saying?

[SPEAKER_00]: He's saying not to let the things have you.

[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of these people are all about he had to have material material and riches or riches or riches.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna hear things over and over again, rumors, and rumors of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we have to have acceptance of who he is to listen to him, to listen to God the Father, the Lord, Jehovah, y'all away.

[SPEAKER_00]: And not all the voices and the teachers around us.

[SPEAKER_00]: So let's now go to the last chapter, chapter seven.

[SPEAKER_00]: Here's one that you've heard.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we just, our brother just spoke about this today.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows what I'm all about.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so for everyone who asks for Caesar's first eight, and he who sees fines and him who knocks, it will be open verse nine.

[SPEAKER_00]: What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, you will give him a stone.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father who's in heaven give good things to those who ask him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Took me years and it was the hardest period of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the exact same time that was spoken to Luke 631.

[SPEAKER_00]: Is the exact same time as the exact same teaching?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's said differently, but doing the others you'd have them doing the same thing, same thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, it then goes the same verse or team.

[SPEAKER_00]: Enter at the narrow gate.

[SPEAKER_00]: For why does the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction?

[SPEAKER_00]: and there are many who are going through it because small is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life and there are few who find it.

[SPEAKER_00]: See, these are great statements that say, we've heard 500 times in our life, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But they're true, they're important, and they're all together, because Jesus is not only clearing the way for what they've taught, he's not showing them the way which is him.

[SPEAKER_00]: Amen.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then it goes on to say,

[SPEAKER_00]: ever 15, beware, here we go.

[SPEAKER_00]: We wear the false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But inwardly, they are ravenous wolves.

[SPEAKER_00]: You will know them by their fruit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Dumin, gather grapes from thorns.

[SPEAKER_00]: Our fizz from fizzles.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even so, every good tree bears good fruit.

[SPEAKER_00]: For a corrupt tree, bears evil fruit.

[SPEAKER_00]: It goes to say, a good tree, this is verse 18, a good tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor a corrupt tree bear good fruit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, by their fruit, you will know them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I say this to you now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say it again, verse 20.

[SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, by their fruit, you will know them.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is from that scripture that I say by their actions, they are known.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you're right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Or as my brother said, they make their own reputation.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 21, not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's a heartbreaking thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, everyone says to me, Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father, who is in heaven, many will say to me on that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast that demon's in your name, and to many wonderful works in your name, but then I would have cleared to them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I never knew you, to par for me, you who practice evil.

[SPEAKER_00]: who declare that they knew him and we're doing his will.

[SPEAKER_00]: Verse 24, whoever hears these things of mine and does them, I will be like him to a wise man who built his house on a rock and the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house and it did not fall, where it was founded, it was founded, excuse me, where it was

[SPEAKER_00]: And everyone who hears these things of mine and does not do them will be like, like into a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat that on that house and it fell and its fall was great.

[SPEAKER_00]: When Jesus finished these things that people were astonished at his teachings,

[SPEAKER_00]: for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what was he teaching about as I said what ago?

[SPEAKER_00]: He was teaching about acceptance of who he was and is and always will be.

[SPEAKER_00]: He Jesus is God.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is of God, the Father.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's to Hover.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're not to listen to all those other voices in this world.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, you're hearing voices all over the place.

[SPEAKER_00]: It comes the time that you need to be just like I said.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't be like Elijah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't be like Elijah who is afraid and runs away from the popular people who are in charge.

[SPEAKER_00]: Don't listen to the loud winds and the earthquakes and the fires or your freight of, listen that still small voice that's in your heart that has saved you.

[SPEAKER_00]: You listen to that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Regretary is he who's in you that he was of the world first off, four, four.

[SPEAKER_00]: So the full sermon title today was took me why to get to is first sermon on the mountain of misunderstandings.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's what Jesus was doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: This was his first sermon that was on the mountain of Beatitudes, but he was talking to them about all the misunderstandings they had because they'd been missed talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's so many things we'd get missed talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: Even using these sermons that he was teaching.

[SPEAKER_00]: We give him his talk all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's time to give our misunderstandings to God.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he could set us right on them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to tell you that the first time I read any of these, that I understood like that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We have to be retot every day, don't we?

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, young kids right now, I say you guys, kids, you guys are young people, but you guys are in school.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you guys are still fresh in school, relearning in every day.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's great.

[SPEAKER_00]: I got to do this for you, but you don't even know yet.

[SPEAKER_00]: When you get out of school, you're still going to remember everything you've been taught in that school.

[SPEAKER_00]: But after a few years, you're going to have to look back up again.

[SPEAKER_00]: You guys have something we didn't have.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have the internet.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can look at that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't have that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm back in my day.

[SPEAKER_00]: No, but we didn't have that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you're going to realize, wow, this doesn't say fresh like a daisy.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is doesn't.

[SPEAKER_00]: And your daisy, if you do.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the truth is, one day, you're going to realize how the brain doesn't say fresh on these things.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same with the word of God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Stay with the word God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every day has to be retied, stay with him in prayer, in understanding, in learning and reading, stay with him.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is why it's important to come to church.

[SPEAKER_00]: More than just Sunday morning if you can, if you can.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's good to stay with the Lord God each and every day.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's why it's good to learn His praise songs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you listen to Christen Reel.

[SPEAKER_00]: Good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing wrong with that.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's not hymns, you listen, maybe it's pop songs that are, are, are, are Christian.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do whatever it takes to keep the spirit going to take you fresh.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't eat once a week, at least I hope not.

[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's why you're also much thinner than me.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I say, make sure that you keep eating the word and being in spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure that

[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was his first sermon on the mount that he had many more to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to close here.

[SPEAKER_00]: As we started in Matthew chapter four, verse 23 and 25, then we went to chapter five, chapter six, chapter seven.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was a lot of reading.

[SPEAKER_00]: More than we usually do, I know.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to finish the Matthew chapter eight, verse one through four.

[SPEAKER_00]: When he, we know that's Jesus.

[SPEAKER_00]: When he came down from the mountains,

[SPEAKER_00]: And then the Leopard came to worship and worship him saying, Lord, if you're willing, you can make me clean.

[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus reached out his hand and touched him saying, I will be clean and immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

[SPEAKER_00]: Then Jesus said to him, see that you tell no one, but go your way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded as a testimony to them.

[SPEAKER_00]: The moment he got done, setting things right, the people knew who he was.

[SPEAKER_00]: They knew that he was the Messiah, and that's where everything truly began.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the people started coming to hand for cleansing, for healing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Jesus' ministry truly, truly, truly began, and it never stopped until he died on the cross.

[SPEAKER_00]: And rose from the dead and even then, he's still working throughout this day.

[SPEAKER_00]: and he wants to work through you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So let this sermon, the very first sermon on that mount, be working through you today.

[SPEAKER_00]: And anytime you have a misunderstanding, go back to that sermon, read it again.

[SPEAKER_00]: And know that it's not trying to tell you how wrong you are for how wrong the misteachings are.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that through him, you were set right.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's close and prayer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord Jesus, thank you for correcting us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for correcting our misunderstandings each and every day.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord, we know that no one is correct without you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Lord, I pray that at the times that we are trying to teach people about you or speak to people about you, that we let go of any kind of arrogance, any kind of thought of pride of how good we are, because we know we're not.

[SPEAKER_00]: Without you, we can do nothing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Lord God, I just pray that you will help us to be humble in you.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I pray that people will not hear us or see us or see us or what I pray that they will feel the Holy Spirit.

[SPEAKER_00]: You pray, Lord God, they will hear and feel you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray you'll correct each and every one of us and all of our loved ones of the people they we know, but even more importantly, all the people that you know.

[SPEAKER_00]: Lord, I pray that

[SPEAKER_00]: There will be someone here today that has been taught and learned something new today.

[SPEAKER_00]: More importantly, Lord, I pray that we feel closer to you today, closer than we did yesterday, closer to the Mars we do today.

[SPEAKER_00]: I pray this and your holy precious name, Lord God, amen.
