Listen to the words of the gospel writer John.
-
In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.
-
John 16, 33.
-
We live in a world full of instability, political unrest, uncertainty, and fear.
-
Yet Jesus promised us peace that cannot be shaken.
-
His kingdom is steady, even when everything else shifts.
-
Before we ask anything of the Lord today, let's start with praise and gratitude.
-
Thank God for the first ten things that have come to your mind.
-
Praise God for the first five things about him that come to your mind.
-
Over the next two minutes, tell the Lord the things trying to steal your peace, then invite Jesus to bring his overcoming peace in the middle of those situations.
-
Picture him taking it from you, placing his hand steady on your heart.
-
Let the Holy Spirit guide your imagination as you visualize the Prince of Peace entering the space and situation that has been disrupting your peace.
-
Ask on their behalf that God will guard their heart and mind with this perfect peace.
-
We rest today in your victory and declare that no storm can shake the peace you have given us.
-
Thank you for your words of comfort.
-
That even though in this world we will have trouble, we can take heart because you have overcome the world.
-
Breathe in and say, take heart.
-
Breathe out and say, He has overcome.
-
Amen.
