Publisher transcript
Transcript
-
God speaks through his word, but he also speaks through his creation, through beauty, rhythm, wonder, and design.
-
Creation declares his glory.
-
Psalm 19, 1 and 2 says, The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
-
Today, if you can, get outside for this time of prayer or move near a window.
-
You might not have a great view or even a view of nature, but get somewhere where you can at least see the sky.
-
Pause this guided prayer for a moment.
-
And today, let's listen to creation and declare the glory of the Creator.
-
When you are ready, take 15 seconds to thank God for revealing himself through creation, for the beauty that reflects his heart.
-
Repeat this prayer after me.
-
God, help me notice you in the world around me.
-
Give me eyes to see evidence of your work.
-
Give me eyes to notice evidence of your presence.
-
Use creation to speak truth of who you are to me today.
-
Your faithfulness, your beauty, your enormity, your sufficiency, your sovereignty.
-
Speak to me today.
-
Through your beauty, creativity, and order.
-
Now quiet yourself before God and meditate on the ways creation tells us about the character of God.
-
If you are in nature right now, look around.
-
Look out your window and notice his handiwork.
-
If you aren't, close your eyes and picture a place or time where you are in nature and meditate on the environment and what God might want to remind you about himself today.
-
You might feel silly or even numb.
-
Maybe you feel like this exercise in prayer and meditation doesn't fit your personality.
-
But don't limit the creator.
-
Wait on him in stillness.
-
Open our eyes to see you everywhere.
-
Amen.
