-
Do things cut as deeply as betrayal?
-
It's one thing to expect opposition for an enemy, but it's another thing entirely to be wounded by someone you trusted.
-
Betrayal can leave you unsettled.
-
It can make you question your instincts, your openness, even your willingness to trust again.
-
Psalm 55 gives language to this kind of pain.
-
David writes, if an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it.
-
But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend.
-
Scripture does not rush past this pain.
-
It makes space for it.
-
And instead of withdrawing from God, David brings his wounded heart directly to him.
-
And today, we're going to practice the same.
-
Let's start by thinking God that He is faithful, even when people let us down.
-
Praise Him that His love does not shift or turn away.
-
Thank you for being faithful, Amen.
