-
When we live our lives in obedience to Jesus, choose to follow Him, Scripture describes our role as salt and light.
-
You are the salt of the earth, Jesus says in Matthew 5.13.
-
And later in verse 14, he says, You are the light of the world.
-
Our relationship with Jesus is meant to be reflected to a world that desperately needs him.
-
And as we walk in this reality, others will see our reflection of Jesus and be pointed to him.
-
Let's read through Matthew 5.13 through 16 together.
-
You are the salt of the earth.
-
But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?
-
It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
-
You are the light of the world.
-
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
-
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
-
Instead, they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.
-
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
-
Ask God to remove distractions as we spend time praying today.
-
Thank God that He has called you saw and light.
-
Pray that they would see Christ clearly through your words and actions.
-
Amen.
