-
As we get started today, close your eyes.
-
Picture yourself leaning into these few moments with Jesus.
-
If you can, physically move yourself to a new space to signal to your body and mind that we are about to start something new.
-
Repeat this after me.
-
God wants to talk to me today.
-
I'll take a deep breath.
-
Hard seasons have a way of dulling joy.
-
But Jesus reminds us that joy rooted in Him is not taken away by circumstances.
-
It runs deeper than what we feel or see.
-
Let's read John 16, 22 together.
-
This is what it says.
-
So with you, now is your time of grief.
-
But I will see you again, and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
-
Take 20 seconds to thank Jesus for a joy that cannot be stolen, a joy anchored in his presence, not your situation.
-
Ask him to restore joy in your heart even as you walk through difficulty.
-
Ask him to show you how to restore joy even when life feels like it's getting the best of you.
-
Remember, it is good to ask God for specific things.
-
He loves hearing the desires of your heart.
-
He isn't afraid or disappointed when you talk directly.
-
Steady, present, and full of hope.
-
What emotions are arising to the surface?
-
Take thirty seconds and pray for someone walking through grief or loss.
-
Ask Jesus to guard their joy and strengthen their heart.
-
Amen.
