Psalm 119, verse 105 says, Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
-
What a beautiful picture of what life feels like with direction, encouragement, and guidance from the word of God.
-
Sometimes we want God to show us the entire path before we move forward.
-
But more often, he gives just enough light for the next step.
-
Trust and confidence in him grows exponentially when we obey him one step at a time.
-
One day at a time, one decision at a time.
-
As the old hymn says, strength for today and bright hope tomorrow.
-
Blessings all mine and 10,000 aside.
-
The hymn writer knew that the Lord leads us day by day into the life God has for us.
-
And that progression of faithful guidance is the greatest blessing to us.
-
Would you take 30 seconds and out loud thank God for his guidance and direction in your life?
-
Reflect on times when he has faithfully led you through uncertainty and call them out to the Lord and for your own heart to remember.
-
Maybe there is a next step you already know God is asking you to take.
-
Spend the next few moments talking honestly with Him about it.
-
Ask God for courage where you feel hesitant and peace where you feel uncertain.
-
Invite God to help you focus on today's step rather than tomorrow's outcome.
-
Whoever that person is on your mind, pray for their faith and trust in God today.
-
Father, thank you for guiding me faithfully.
-
Thank you for your guidance in the past.
-
Thank you that you are already in my future.
-
Thank you that you have strength for me today.
-
That you have endurance for me today.
-
That you have wisdom for me today.
-
That you have an answer for me today.
-
God, I trust your direction today.
-
Amen.
