-
One of the most beautiful lines from the Psalms is recorded in Psalm 46, with God saying this to us.
-
He says, be still and know that I am God.
-
God's presence is often easier to recognize when we slow down.
-
In a world filled with noise, hurry, and constant distraction, stillness becomes a gift.
-
Sometimes God is an absent.
-
We're simply moving too quickly to notice him.
-
Today, let's create a little space to become more aware of his presence.
-
Take 20 seconds and thank God that he is patient with you.
-
Reflect on God's willingness to meet you whenever you turn your attention toward him.
-
As you sit quietly, notice any restlessness within you.
-
Is there agitation or angst that you can hand over to the Lord today?
-
Rather than fighting it, bring it honestly before God.
-
Ask him to quiet your heart and help you recognize his presence in the stillness.
-
Start with this prayer with me.
-
Say, Lord, teach me how to slow down.
-
Help me notice you.
-
Now take the next two minutes and talk to God and allow time to wait on Him as well.
-
Maybe they've conveyed that they feel like it isn't enough, like there isn't enough hours in a day, or maybe you could guess that from their life right now.
-
Take 30 seconds and pray for them, that they would know and recognize God in their everyday life, and that the Lord would help them find and create margin in their heart, mind, and calendar.
-
Say, Father, thank you for meeting us in this stillness.
-
Help me make space and get quiet to hear and see you this week.
-
Amen.
