  1. Jim Elliot is a name that I'm sure you

  2. probably heard of if you've been a

  3. Believer for a while he was an American

  4. uh missionary who was martyred in

  5. Ecuador in

  6. 1956 he famously wrote he is no fool who

  7. gives what he cannot keep to gain what

  8. he cannot lose he is no fool who gives

  9. what he cannot keep to gain what he

  10. cannot lose

  11. last week we saw how the Rich Young

  12. Ruler had it

  13. all he was wealthy young powerful he had

  14. status and everything else and he didn't

  15. want to part with those things with his

  16. wealth he held on to what he couldn't

  17. keep and so he didn't receive what he

  18. couldn't lose

  19. Jesus in order to receive The Treasure

  20. of Jesus we need to empty our hands of

  21. everything that gets in the

  22. way and follow

  23. him but that raised in the disciples

  24. Minds some questions and Peter said in

  25. verse 28 see we have left our homes and

  26. followed you so Jesus reassures them

  27. that whoever has left things for the

  28. sake of the kingdom of God will receive

  29. many times more in this age and in the

  30. age to come in other words what you gain

  31. from following the Lord following Jesus

  32. will always far outweigh whatever you

  33. lose because you've you've had to follow

  34. him to follow Jesus Will

  35. mean there are some sacrifices to

  36. make but what you gain from following

  37. him far outweighs the

  38. all but just as the blessings of uh

  39. following Jesus far outweigh the things

  40. we have to give up so the sacrifice of

  41. Jesus far outweigh any sacrifice that we

  42. might make

  43. too if Peter thinks that leaving home

  44. and family for Jesus is a big deal Jesus

  45. puts this into perspective by sharing

  46. some details on his own imminent

  47. sacrifice and we'll look at that in our

  48. first point blind to the

  49. mission we have a phrase in England

  50. about the penny

  51. dropping um has the penny dropped have

  52. they got it

  53. apparently the phrase was coined in the

  54. 1930s in the British publication The

  55. Daily Mirror uh the illusion um was made

  56. to machines that require a penny to

  57. operate and sometimes you put your penny

  58. in and the penny would get stuck and so

  59. you'd need to wait for the penny to drop

  60. you can imagine the person slapping

  61. hitting the machine come on trying to

  62. make that Penny to drop because only

  63. it's only when the penny dropped the

  64. machine would spring

  65. dropped despite him clearly

  66. explaining it to

  67. them so first he reminds them of their

  68. Journey verse 31 they are going up to

  69. Jerusalem now Jerusalem was high up so

  70. however you approached Jerusalem you

  71. were always going up to Jerusalem in

  72. that

  73. sense but perhaps there's an illusion

  74. that is more than just their physical

  75. Ascent you see when people went up to

  76. Jerusalem it was often as part of their

  77. worship is often to celebrate one of the

  78. big festivals and that would involve an

  79. offering and as Jesus himself goes up to

  80. Jerusalem the offering he would

  81. give is himself Jerusalem that's really

  82. helpful isn't it if you you book a

  83. holiday or something um sometimes or

  84. you're visiting a new area sometimes you

  85. you might find there's a what to expect

  86. little section on the website or in the

  87. the literature what to expect what do

  88. you need to know about when you get

  89. there they might say well the beach is a

  90. 2 kmet walk or the property has free

  91. wi-fi or um you know this is the

  92. restaurant that you need to go to that

  93. you know there's information about what

  94. to expect when you arrive it's helpful

  95. to know before you get there and Jesus

  96. gives them a what to expect uh when they

  97. get to Jerusalem but his little speech

  98. about that isn't very encouraging at

  99. all speaking in the third person Jesus

  100. shares how he's going to be handed over

  101. to the Gentiles he goes on to say how

  102. he's going to be insulted and humiliated

  103. flogged and killed this is a really Grim

  104. Revelation about what they are to

  105. expect if you knew this was going to be

  106. the reception waiting for you you would

  107. certainly cross Jerusalem off from your

  108. itinery wouldn't you let's give that one

  109. a Miss we'll go on to the next one this

  110. is not a great reception for

  111. anyone but although Jesus knows all this

  112. he still says in verse 31 we are going

  113. up to Jerusalem and everything that is

  114. written about the son of man by the

  115. prophets will be

  116. accomplished and as horrifying as this

  117. prediction

  118. is it's

  119. actually

  120. reassuring uh for us and and for them or

  121. it would be reassuring for them when the

  122. penny finally drops and they understand

  123. what he's doing and why he's going

  124. there why is it reassuring why is it

  125. helpful to know that Jesus knew what to

  126. expect because it shows us that Jesus

  127. wasn't an unwitting victim what happened

  128. to him on the cross it wasn't an

  129. unexpected

  130. surprise it was his

  131. mission this had been

  132. predicted

  133. centuries

  134. beforeand so Psalm 22 speaks about how

  135. he would be forsaken Forsaken and mocked

  136. by his enemies tormented by thirst

  137. pierced through his hands and feet

  138. Isaiah 53 speaks about how he would be

  139. despised and rejected how it be wounded

  140. for our transgressions crushed for our

  141. iniquities and poured out to

  142. death these what to expect

  143. writings have been around for

  144. centuries there was no surprise that

  145. Jesus knew what to

  146. expect but such was his love such was

  147. his compassion for Sinners on on on on

  148. people like you and me that he still

  149. going to go up to

  150. Jerusalem he's still going to do it what

  151. sacrifice what

  152. love I wonder if you've ever

  153. doubted his love for

  154. you then call to mind how Jesus knew

  155. what he was going to and he still went

  156. up up to

  157. Jerusalem for

  158. you what a

  159. savior what Mercy what compassion what

  160. love that's how much he loves you he

  161. went up to

  162. Jerusalem but that's not all at the end

  163. of verse 33 and on the third day he will

  164. rise so he predicts not only his death

  165. he predicts his resurrection as well

  166. Jesus wasn't just hoping somehow it was

  167. all going to be okay he wasn't just

  168. hoping vaguely that that maybe God would

  169. perhaps raise him to life again there's

  170. no if no maybe no you know touch word

  171. like some people do for some strange

  172. reason this is what to expect this is on

  173. the list just as much as his sufferings

  174. and his cross is his resurrection it's

  175. all part and parcel of

  176. it at a later point when it all becomes

  177. clear for the disciples this would bring

  178. much encouragement and actually Peter

  179. could confidently stand up at Pentecost

  180. and preach acts 2:23 he said this man

    Acts 2:23

  181. was handed over to you by God's

  182. deliberate plan and forn knowledge he

  183. could say that because he knew Jesus had

  184. predicted this this was done by God's

  185. deliberate plan and forn

  186. knowledge but right now before it had

  187. happened they don't they don't get it

  188. the penny hasn't dropped in fact it's

  189. hidden from them verse 34 makes it clear

  190. how unclear it was to them it just says

  191. it like three times in in different ways

  192. but they understood none of these things

  193. this saying was hidden from them and

  194. they did not grasp what was said you see

  195. he can make it any more clear that they

  196. don't understand it it's like boom boom

  197. boom they don't get

  198. it we're not told

  199. why why it was

  200. hidden perhaps it wasn't the right time

  201. for them to understand these

  202. things usually God doesn't

  203. reveal all the details of what's going

  204. to happen to us in our lives and that's

  205. often a great Mercy to us every day has

  206. got enough worry for itself isn't it we

  207. don't need to be worrying about that and

  208. that and that it's actually a mercy we

  209. don't know often what's just around the

  210. corner but it is encouraging to realize

  211. that although we don't know what's

  212. around the corner we we don't often

  213. don't know what to expect God

  214. does God always knows and all of your

  215. days are in his hands Psalm 31:14

    Psalms 31:14–15

  216. to15 but I trust in you Lord I say you

  217. are my God my times are in your

  218. hands that is such an encouragement my

  219. times are in your hands your

  220. life your

  221. death your

  222. Resurrection is all in the hands of the

  223. Lord whatever you're

  224. facing take comfort that all your days

  225. are in his hands and just as Jesus rose

  226. if you're in him so you will rise too he

  227. knows he's got it planned he's made the

  228. promises where Jesus outlines the plan

  229. but for the disciples at that point the

  230. Penny doesn't drop and for now they are

  231. BL blind to his

  232. mission blind to the sacrifice he had to

  233. make they were in the dark as to how the

  234. Messiah would save and as the journey as

  235. he Journeys on he encounters Jesus

  236. encounters a man who although he was

  237. physically

  238. blind he sees enough to believe and

  239. that's our second point a man sorry a

  240. blind man in

  241. need it's just a fantastic device device

  242. you know what I mean it's only when they

  243. start to go wrong that you go oh okay

  244. you know they're quite delicate

  245. intricate there's a lot that can go

  246. wrong with an eye and as you start to

  247. get older you suddenly realize this

  248. precise little um sort of contraption in

  249. your head is is is is actually not

  250. performing quite as well as it was when

  251. it was younger and you know suddenly if

  252. you're like me you start taking your

  253. glasses off to read things up close

  254. don't you or you know and then you need

  255. two glasses and then you need very fol

  256. it's like who but whatever sight you've

  257. got left you know that's precious isn't

  258. it it's such a blessing sight is a real

  259. blessing and as Jesus uh comes into the

  260. vicinity of Jericho he meets a man

  261. without the blessing of sight this man

  262. is sitting by the roadside begging

  263. Mark's account of this tells us it was

  264. bartmus we don't know if he'd been blind

  265. from birth

  266. or whether he' suffered some sort of

  267. injury or disease of of some sort um

  268. blindness apparently was quite common

  269. much more common in those days than it

  270. was in in these days but for this man

  271. however he got his blindness normal life

  272. can't be carried

  273. out he can't have worse back then there

  274. was a

  275. stigma uh about attached to uh blindness

  276. so illustrated by the deciples in John

    John 9 chapter mention

  277. chapter 9 you don't need to turn to it

  278. I'm sure you're familiar with it but

  279. when they saw another blind man they

  280. said to Jesus who sinned was it this man

  281. or was it his parents there was just the

  282. Assumption there's a blind man of course

  283. it's it's punishment for sin that that's

  284. why he's blind that was the thinking of

  285. the day and so this this BTO M this

  286. blind man not only is he got all the

  287. inconvenience and that the sorrow of

  288. being blind there's this attached to him

  289. people are looking down on him judging

  290. him you're a blind man that must be

  291. because of your sin or someone in your

  292. family sin so they looked down on him

  293. they judged him his situation is pretty

  294. Grim isn't it it's unlikely that he's

  295. going to be able to marry or have his

  296. own family he can't earn money he's

  297. treated as a second class Citizen and

  298. perhaps he's even starting to believe

  299. what other people say about him you know

  300. may maybe I did do this maybe I did do

  301. something I brought this on myself maybe

  302. God is punishing me for for some sin

  303. that I've

  304. committed he's got no real hope no

  305. future no potential perhaps he might

  306. think he didn't have any worth as well

  307. he's he's isolated from people he's

  308. isolated from

  309. God his self-esteem is going to be Rock

  310. Bottom isn't it it feels worthless no

  311. one cares he's just hanging on to life

  312. well his eyes might not be working but

  313. his ears are he hears the approaching

  314. commotion this is well beyond the normal

  315. hustle and bustle of the streets

  316. something big is going

  317. on you know as individuals or as a

  318. church how much Buzz is there in our

  319. lives because we know

  320. Jesus you know how much excitement do we

  321. go do people know

  322. wouldn't it be good if people looked at

  323. us as individuals and asked as a church

  324. and wondered what is all the excitement

  325. about why do they do it why do they go

  326. to church why do they sing what what is

  327. it about these

  328. Christians wouldn't it be good if people

  329. looked at us and say they've got

  330. something and I want that

  331. too there should be something about

  332. Christians that despite our

  333. britishness people can still recognize

  334. they have got something worth

  335. celebrating they've got something worth

  336. having so back to bartus he's inquiring

  337. what's going on there's a big noise

  338. there's a big fuss there's a big buzz

  339. going on because Jesus is coming to

  340. town and he say what what's going on and

  341. they say in verse 37 Jesus of Nazareth

  342. is passing

  343. by Nazareth was a a small village

  344. probably between 300 or 500 people it

  345. was somewhat detached from mainstream

  346. Israel and uh it it looked it was it was

  347. just sort of sort of place you look down

  348. on maybe some people sort of look down

  349. on trobridge and go I've heard it no I'm

  350. not going to say that but um some people

  351. don't speak about trobridge in very nice

  352. terms maybe that's similar to Nazareth I

  353. don't know but strict Jews would look

  354. down you if you came from Nazareth so

  355. much so that Bartholomew otherwise known

  356. as Nathaniel heard about Jesus when he

  357. heard about Jesus he said Nazareth can

  358. anything good come from

  359. there now on this occasion when they see

  360. Jesus of Nazareth is passing by it

  361. doesn't seem like it's an insult of a

  362. slur it's just a way to identify him

  363. that's that's who he was to them this is

  364. Jesus of Nazareth that's where he comes

  365. from so they they talk about him in that

  366. way but look at how bartmus addresses

  367. Jesus not as they do he doesn't call out

  368. Jesus of Nazareth has have mercy on me

  369. verse 38 can you see he it's different

  370. he says Jesus Son of

  371. David he's different isn't it you see

  372. btoa sees clearer who Jesus is than all

  373. these people who can see

  374. physically son of David with a was a

  375. Messianic title 2 Samuel 7 tells us that

  376. it's going to be one of David's sons who

  377. Reigns on the Throne

  378. forever uh Psalm 89 Isaiah 9 Jeremiah 23

  379. Ezekiel uh 34 Amos 9:11 shows us that

    Amos 9:11

  380. the Messiah was going to be the son of

  381. David that's why Matthew at the

  382. beginning of his Gospel Matthew chapter

    Matthew 1 chapter mention

  383. 1 vers1 clearly lays out the fact Jesus

  384. is the son of David he is the one he is

  385. the promised one he's the

  386. Messiah BAS recognizes that Jesus is the

  387. son of

  388. David not just a Rabbi from Nazareth but

  389. the

  390. Messiah so having understood something

  391. about Jesus about who he is and no doubt

  392. having heard other people's testimonies

  393. about the sort of things Jesus was doing

  394. he cries out for

  395. Mercy now this is fascinating back trap

  396. with me to at verse 13 that's similar to

  397. what the tax collector prayed God be

  398. merciful to me a

  399. sinner and God granted that tax

  400. collector mercy so does bartmus does he

  401. get

  402. Mercy not right away he gets told to

  403. shut up doesn't he verse 39 those who

  404. were in front rebuked him telling him to

  405. be

  406. silent again it's interesting because if

  407. you cast your eyes back to the end of

  408. verse 15 where the par parents were

  409. bringing their their children their

  410. babies to Jesus to to to be blessed the

  411. same thing happens the disciples rebuke

  412. the parents don't bring them Jesus is

  413. far too important he hasn't got time to

  414. be dealing with these these children

  415. children of class as second class

  416. citizens but then Jesus stops and he

  417. invites them no let the little children

  418. little children come to me come

  419. on and it's the same here this guy he

  420. he's not put off he shouts even louder

  421. son of David have mercy on

  422. me Jesus stops what he's doing and He

  423. commands them bring BTO bring him to me

  424. isn't that isn't that wonderful everyone

  425. else is saying be quiet Jesus is you

  426. know interested in you and Jesus stops

  427. everything and said no no bring him to

  428. me Jesus

  429. embodies the mercy the compassion the

  430. kindness of

  431. God when we cry out to Mercy God

  432. hears Jesus

  433. stops it's almost like there was this

  434. big Royal procession going and then and

  435. Jesus is there he's the center of it all

  436. the bars everything going on and he

  437. stops he issues this command bring him

  438. now if Jesus is concerned for little

  439. children if Jesus is concerned for tax

  440. collectors if Jesus is concerned for the

  441. the blind all these people that are in

  442. the second class citizen category who

  443. are perhaps Sinners and not very

  444. important do you know what that says to

  445. me that says to me no matter who you

  446. are God is interested in you Jesus is

  447. interested in you you might be unknown

  448. in this world you might be

  449. unimportant you might think no one knows

  450. you no one sees you no one really cares

  451. but Jesus Does does he sees you he hears

  452. you God hears genuine cries for mercy

  453. and can I just encourage you don't be

  454. put off seeking the Lord

  455. easily it seems to be always the ca case

  456. someone starts to get serious about

  457. their their faith they want to seek the

  458. Lord suddenly everything piles in to try

  459. and get in the way doesn't that um

  460. family gets busy work kicks off Hobbies

  461. Health just everything just gets in the

  462. way and before you know it you've kind

  463. of forgotten the Lord You've stepped

  464. back you you you forgotten what it

  465. was take a leaf out of this Blind Man's

  466. book and carry on calling cry out to the

  467. Lord whatever stage you're at in your

  468. spiritual journey cry out to the Lord

  469. perhaps you have perhaps you've been a

  470. Believer for a long

  471. time but somehow you'll walk with the

  472. Lord has grown weak and

  473. distant can I encourage you don't don't

  474. give up don't just accept well that's

  475. how it is I'm just going to have a weak

  476. faith and just muddle on cry out to the

  477. Lord Lord have mercy on me help me I

  478. want I want to know you I want to love

  479. you I want to follow you Lord do

  480. something in my

  481. life God has promised his people back in

  482. Jeremiah 29:13 you will seek me and find

    Jeremiah 29:13

  483. me when you seek me with all your heart

  484. Hebrews 4:16 says let us then approach

    Hebrews 4:16

  485. God's throne of grace with confidence so

  486. that we may receive mercy and find Grace

  487. to help us in our time of need don't let

  488. other things get in the way of you

  489. seeking the Lord walking with the Lord

  490. of knowing the

  491. Lord but you know I think this passage

  492. speaks into how we treat people with

  493. disabilities and maybe that the poor

  494. poor and the marginalized people as

  495. well accessibility law I'm sure has been

  496. a pain for many people up and down the

  497. country having to change their buildings

  498. do all sorts of things and it's it's not

  499. always easy it's not always practical

  500. and it can be a pain can't it but

  501. actually I think as a church surely we

  502. should be at the Forefront of making

  503. Jesus accessible to all shouldn't we

  504. it's for the needy for the poor for the

  505. downtrod the marginalized for those in

  506. need that God is ready and willing to

  507. stop everything for did you no Jesus is

  508. on the way to Jerusalem to Die to Save

  509. the World and he stops for this blind

  510. man you might excuse Jesus if he say I'm

  511. sorry I mean I've got a a really

  512. important Mission I've got to do this

  513. but he stops everything crowd whoa wait

  514. we're going to deal with this one guy

  515. it's impressive isn't

  516. it it's too easy to see people with

  517. additional needs or perhaps the elderly

  518. perhaps the terminally ill perhaps The

  519. Unborn as well they're just a a pain

  520. they're a problem there's something to

  521. just we have to sort of tolerate we'll

  522. put them in the corner somewhere and

  523. just hope they go away or something you

  524. know it's hard work isn't it they demand

  525. resource and effort

  526. but Jesus stops everything and commands

  527. this blind man who everyone else just

  528. wants to say shut up be quiet get back

  529. in your box he says no bring him to

  530. me so a reminder we must be careful not

  531. to ignore or silence those who are

  532. marginalized like everyone they need

  533. Jesus too it's interesting that he He

  534. commands barus to be brought to

  535. him I guess the crowded the street was

  536. crowded wasn't it bartus is somewhere

  537. over there um how's he going to make his

  538. way to Jesus how's he going to get there

  539. he he can't

  540. see see this special provision made for

  541. this blind man now some of you go and

  542. get him bring him to me everyone else

  543. had to wait and even help him come to

  544. Jesus as a church it's good to be aware

  545. of whatever particular needs there are

  546. amongst us isn't there some people might

  547. need especially help to be brought to

  548. Jesus but whatever someone's particular

  549. challenges

  550. are if they're spiritually blind they

  551. need to be guided to Jesus don't

  552. they you if someone is on their sort of

  553. path to Jesus there's all sorts of

  554. obstacles and things that get in their

  555. way that they they don't

  556. know they need to be guided they need to

  557. be brought there s all sorts of wrong

  558. directions they go into isn't this what

  559. Jesus commands us to do Matthew 28:19 go

    Matthew 28:19

  560. and make disciples go go on go and make

  561. disciples don't just sit there and wait

  562. for them to come to us go and make them

  563. go and get them bring them to

  564. Jesus so as we go about on our daily

  565. lives let's not be deaf to those who

  566. need to be brought to Jesus whatever

  567. their

  568. needs let's not Overlook those who

  569. appear to be less

  570. important because like everyone they

  571. need to be guided towards Jesus for the

  572. downtrodden and the marginalized are

  573. precious to

  574. him so Jesus's command bartmus is taken

  575. to him and let's look at that in our

  576. final point the blind man is given

  577. sight it's been

  578. said there's no such thing as a silly

  579. question

  580. but Jesus's question might at first

  581. appear a little bit

  582. redundant Jesus asked the blind man in

  583. verse

  584. 41 what do you want me to do for

  585. you and we might think well this is

  586. fairly obvious isn't it he's blind

  587. anyone can see that it's obvious what

  588. this man is going to

  589. want but actually I don't think it is

  590. quite as obvious as we imagine

  591. imine we think it's obvious because

  592. we've read the gospels we know Jesus we

  593. know the sort of things he

  594. does but we're forgetting this is

  595. miraculous you know this guy might have

  596. just been wanting food or some sort of

  597. money what he's asking for is a miracle

  598. so this is no this is not obvious at

  599. all he's he's asking for a miracle and

  600. that that requires faith

  601. what he's asking for for Jesus to do is

  602. humanly impossible let's not forget that

  603. he's asking for Jesus to do something

  604. humanly impossible and if you remember

  605. last week Jesus said what is impossible

  606. for man to do is possible for God that's

  607. what he's asking for something that only

  608. God or God's power can do

  609. here and Jesus wants everyone to be

  610. clear what is being asked for he wants

  611. this man to publicly give voice to his

  612. faith which does verse 41 uh Lord let me

  613. recover my sight it's good that everyone

  614. can hear clearly what he being asked for

  615. they can understand this is no um just

  616. mistaken thing um Jesus isn't just

  617. forcing this miracle on this man it's

  618. it's an Act of Faith he's asking for it

  619. and Jesus will hear

  620. him vocalizing something is often very

  621. helpful it brings Clarity crystallizes

  622. things doesn't it this is why important

  623. they've

  624. some this is why at times of

  625. baptism It's a Wonderful chance to

  626. testify this is what Jesus has done for

  627. me our story clarifies to everyone this

  628. is how it is I am a sinner Jesus came he

  629. found me he stopped at some point in my

  630. life he reached out and he saved

  631. me if you haven't been baptized can I

  632. can I urge you

  633. don't put it off it's a great

  634. opportunity to testify to What the Lord

  635. Has Done in your life it it might be

  636. terrifying but what a wonderful thing it

  637. is to give voice to your faith in Jesus

  638. and tell others and to be

  639. clear yes Jesus Christ is my Lord and

  640. Savior and I want you to see I want you

  641. to know what he's done for

  642. me the New Testament doesn't know of any

  643. unbaptized believers

  644. except for the criminal on the cross but

  645. given his circumstances will cut some

  646. slack the New Testament pattern is you

  647. believe and you're baptized that's how

  648. it happens it's a demonstration of what

  649. Jesus has done for us that our faith is

  650. in

  651. him it's good to publicly Proclaim our

  652. faith BTO bartus publicly voices his

  653. faith in Jesus and he asks for for a

  654. miracle and it is by faith in Jesus that

  655. we are saved too it's not good enough to

  656. have a a vague

  657. Faith just a faith in some kind of

  658. higher power as if all gods are somehow

  659. the same it's not good enough to have a

  660. faith in

  661. humanity it's not Faith itself that

  662. saves it's who that faith is in there's

  663. a a theologian guy called BB Warfield he

  664. writes it is Christ that saves through

  665. faith the saving power resides

  666. exclusively not in the Act of Faith or

  667. the attitude of Faith or the nature of

  668. Faith but in the object of faith in

  669. Christ

  670. himself let me read that

  671. again it is Christ that saves through

  672. faith the saving power resides

  673. exclusively not in the Act of Faith or

  674. the attitude of Faith or the nature of

  675. Faith but in the object of faith in

  676. Christ himself so it is faith in Christ

  677. that

  678. saves and it's imagine back then it was

  679. a noisy Street lots of people around

  680. he's surrounded by crowds and bartus

  681. expresses his

  682. faith in Jesus who's there in front of

  683. him he hears about Jesus he calls to

  684. Jesus he brought up close and personal

  685. to Jesus and his faith is in Jesus and

  686. he ask him I want I want to get my sight

  687. back that's how you're

  688. saved you hear about Jesus someone

  689. teaches you how to come to Jesus we cry

  690. out to Faith In Jesus for mercy and help

  691. I wonder if that's ever happened to you

  692. I wonder if you've ever had that

  693. personal Encounter of

  694. expressing that faith

  695. in Jesus Lord Save

  696. Me Jesus replies in verse 42 recover

  697. your sight your faith has made you well

  698. your faith has made you well that that

  699. term well it can just mean physically

  700. fit physically healed physically whole

  701. but it can also be used spiritually as

  702. in in a term of for salvation saved you

  703. your faith has saved you this is what

  704. seems to happen happen to Bart in fact

  705. that's why in Mark's account um Mark

  706. seems to supply his name because he's

  707. probably known to the church there and

  708. so in other words this is refused to do

  709. verse 43 he follows

  710. Jesus did you see that he follows Jesus

  711. not just as one of the crowd just

  712. tagging along it says he glorifies

  713. God I wonder what what do you think that

  714. look like for btoa to glorify God what

  715. do you think that inv involved do you

  716. think he was just walking along head

  717. down just I'm glorifying God that's it

  718. is that how we glorified

  719. God do you know I I can't help but

  720. picture maybe I'm wrong but I can't help

  721. but picture B going up and down the

  722. crowd saying did you see what Jesus did

  723. for me did did you see that I was blind

  724. and I couldn't see Jesus came and and he

  725. opened my eyes and now I can see and

  726. yeah we saw we were were in the crowd

  727. okay did you see can can you picture him

  728. going around the crowd just telling

  729. everyone I mean surely that's how he was

  730. glorifying God testifying to what Jesus

  731. has done in his

  732. life surely that's it I want to tell you

  733. what Jesus has done in my life and that

  734. brings us back to the idea of

  735. witnessing to our to those around us for

  736. Jesus it starts it's marks but a start

  737. by our baptism we tell others what Jesus

  738. has done and then we spend the rest of

  739. our lives glorifying God by testifying

  740. Jesus has saved me he's done this for me

  741. he's changed me he's saved me and he's

  742. doing this this is one of the ways we

  743. glorify God by pointing to what Jesus

  744. has done in our lives he's forgiven me

  745. he's given me WIP me clean he's a work

  746. in

  747. me part of glorifying God Is by pointing

  748. to what Jesus has done and is doing in

  749. your life part of glor glorifying God Is

  750. by living in a way that demonstrates

  751. that Jesus is worth

  752. knowing over time perhaps the joy of our

  753. Salvation does

  754. diminish perhaps we lose the

  755. buzz we lose the

  756. excitement perhaps we

  757. dread talking about our faith even with

  758. people close to us let alone people we

  759. don't know so

  760. well perhaps when people look at us they

  761. don't get the impression that we're

  762. actually very excited about Jesus rather

  763. they sense that we're bit embarrassed

  764. about him

  765. really perhaps we need to

  766. pray with King David restore to me the

  767. joy of your

  768. salvation perhaps we need to cry out

  769. once again to the Lord open my eyes AR

  770. fresh to who you are

  771. Jesus perhaps we need to cry for Mercy

  772. revive me revive us give me a fresh

  773. Vision renew me restore me do something

  774. in me Lord because I feel so dry and

  775. dead because don't you want to be one

  776. who is truly excited about

  777. Jesus I'm sure none of us want to be

  778. those sitting here looking at the person

  779. next us and go well how come they seem

  780. so full of the joy of the Lord and I'm

  781. not I want to be full of the joy of the

  782. Lord don't you so let's pray Lord do

  783. something in me don't you want to be the

  784. kind of believer who glorifies God I

  785. do don't you want to be one whom people

  786. can look at and they can't help praise

  787. God because of what he's done in you and

  788. what he's doing in

  789. you Jesus isn't deserving of our silence

  790. or embarrassment if you're a Believer

  791. here it's because Jesus has done

  792. something amazing in your life if you

  793. are a Believer it's because Jesus

  794. stopped by he put everything else on

  795. hold and he had an encounter with you he

  796. heard your cry for Mercy he opened your

  797. spiritual eyes he saved you following

  798. Jesus doesn't mean being ashamed of him

  799. it means sticking close to your savior

  800. it means telling others what he's done

  801. in your life what he's doing in your

  802. life and bringing as many as you can to

  803. meet with

  804. him so that they can know him have an

  805. encounter with him and glorify him

  806. too let's be quiet before the door
