History of Islam: Part 4

Here, I'm Brother James, and I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world, and I welcome you once again to the preaching of the cross radio broadcast.

We hope and pray that God will speak to your heart, and we hope and pray that when God speaks to your heart you will listen.

I don't mean to be rude, I don't mean to be critical.

I just know from observing men and women in this day and age that it's not enough to just preach the truth, it's not enough to just declare what's so.

God must find people willing to hear the truth, believe the truth, love the truth, embrace the truth, and I hope, I hope and pray.

I pray that you are among those that really and truly want the truth.

If you want it, you can have it.

That's a great thing about God.

You want salvation, he'll save you.

If you want to know your Bible, he'll teach you the Bible.

If you want Holy Spirit power to live in victory over sin, he'll give it to you.

But but you've got to want it.

He won't force righteousness on anyone, he won't force salvation on anyone, he won't force eternal life on anyone, he won't force knowledge of the truth on anyone.

But if you want the truth, my friend, God wants to give it to you.

And he will.

And so I hope and pray that as you listen today to this fourth in our series of programs on the history, a brief history of Islam, the Islamic religion.

I hope you'll listen carefully.

We are studying the history of those who follow Muhammad.

The first great principle of the Muhammadan religion is the unity of God.

This principle Muhammad claimed to have received directly from God Himself, whose message was delivered by the angel Gabriel.

The Quran contains this commandment God is one God, the eternal God, he begetteth not, neither is he begotten, and there is not any one like unto him.

End of quote.

Now, as we consider this fundamental principle of the Muslim belief in God, we see that Muhammad, while he paid lip service to Jesus Christ and claimed to be the next prophet in line after Jesus Christ, he in actuality called Jesus Christ a liar.

That's a very serious charge to make.

I I realize that.

But Muhammad said in the Quran that God is one God, the eternal God, he begetteth not.

Now Jesus Christ said in John chapter 3 and verse 16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Of Jesus Christ the Lord, God the Father, the one true God, said, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

In fact, he said that in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

So the Holy Bible, God the Father in the Holy Bible, God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible, all three of them, the Father, the Son, and the written word, all three of them claim and state, in no uncertain terms, that Jesus Christ was the only begotten of the Father.

The Bible says in John chapter 1 and verse 14, and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory.

The glory is of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

So the statement of the Quran, the foundational truth of the Quran, or the foundational principle of the Quran, it certainly is not the truth, that God is one God, the eternal God, he begetteth not, makes either Mohammed or Jesus Christ a false prophet.

They cannot both be true prophets of the one God.

When one of them said one thing and the other said something just exactly the opposite.

They cannot possibly both be God's prophets.

Now, I'm going to stay with the Bible.

I'm going to stay with the with the words of the man who rose from the dead rather than the words of the man who died and was never heard from again.

Now, this sentence from the Quran comprises the entire chapter and is said by Mohammedans to be equal in value to one third of the whole Quran.

It is among the first revelations which Muhammad claimed to have received.

Muhammad taught that God was simply a transcendent human being of infinite wisdom, goodness, and power.

He declared that God had human form with hands, eyes, and other bodily attributes.

He believed God to be an absolute and despotic ruler, whom no man might hope to understand, but with whom man might gain favor by absolute submission.

Muhammad pictured God as seated on a throne attended by his principal angels, especially by Gabriel, whose office it was to take down his divine decrees in writing.

The very name Islam means submission to God.

It was given to the faith because of this conception of him as a despotic ruler who took joy in the wreaking of justice on all those who failed to obey his commandments.

There's no mercy here.

There's no grace here.

There's no long suffering here.

There is no there is no tender, gentle, loving man of sorrows acquainted with grief.

There is no Savior who suffered in place of the sinner in this religion.

There is no one who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities in this religion.

Mohammedans believe that God has ordered every event that is ever to occur throughout the entire course of the world's history, and that nothing can in any way avail to wipe out a single word.

So Mohammed predated John Calvin into embracing in embracing Jerome's fatalism.

This Eastern fatalism is distinctly expressed in a rubiat of Omar Kayam, and I quote 'twas writ at first whatever was to be, by pen unheeding bliss or misery, yea writ upon the tablet once for all, to murmur or resist is vanity.

That's Omar Calvin Kayam.

Speaking for the fatalist position.

God Himself, according to Mohammedans, revealed to Muhammad the principles of their religion, which he divided into two parts.

The first part is called faith or theory.

It's made up of the following six points.

Number one, belief in God.

Number two, belief in his angels.

Number three, belief in his scriptures.

Number four, belief in his prophets.

Number five, belief in the resurrection and day of judgment.

Number six, belief in predetermination of good and evil.

Not one word about Jesus Christ.

Not one word about Jesus' death on the cross.

Not one word about Jesus' resurrection.

Not one word about the forgiveness of sins.

Not one word about eternal life.

Not one word about joy, happiness, fellowship with one's maker, redemption, regeneration, nothing.

Nothing at all.

The second division is called religion or practice.

It's made up of four points.

Number one, prayer and purification.

Number two, alms.

Number three, fasting.

Number four, the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Many times daily, in all his prayers, the faithful Mohammedan repeats the sentence There is no God but God.

To this they invariably add, and Muhammad is his prophet.

The God of the Mohammedan also directs the activities of the angel host through the four angels who stand closest to his throne.

These are the angels Gabriel, who writes down his divine laws and decrees, Mikhail, M I C H A I L, who fights the battles of the faith, Azrael, the angel of death, and Israel, who will blow the trumpet on the day of judgment.

Besides these four, there is Eblis, the angel of despair, who fell from grace because he refused to worship Adam, and became the equivalent of the Christian Satan, roaming to and fro in the world and tempting men into all manner of wickedness and mischief.

So though the Muhammadan doesn't have Satan, he has Eblis.

Yet when he wants to curse and condemn the Western world for corrupting the Arabic world with their depraved, debauched morals, music, movies, and manner of dress, they speak of the great Satan, not the great Eblis, which is curious indeed.

There are in the Muhammadan faith many millions of the angel host, some act as singers of hymns of praise, some serve as messengers, some work as intercessors for mankind.

These angels are sexless, created from the purest fire, and have no human desires or necessities.

So they bear no resemblance to the angels of the Bible, who are all male, who were created by the word of God's power, and whose human desires have gotten them into trouble on more than one occasion.

The Quran states that there is another order of beings also created of fire, but of much grosser material than these angels, though not so gross as man.

They are called jinns, J-I-N-S, Peri, P-E-R-I, Div, D I V, and numerous other appellations.

They eat, drink, and perform other bodily functions, the same as mankind.

They marry, they have children, they are subject to death.

Some of these are good and some are bad.

They are supposed to have inhabited the world long before Adam was created, but are now confined in a remote part of the world because they had fallen into almost general wickedness.

Close, real close.

The Muhammadans believe that every person is attended by two guardian angels throughout his whole life.

So in that they agree with other pagans.

Their duties are principally to write down in a book all his good and bad deeds.

These angels are changed daily.

I guess that's to keep them from getting worn out or keep you from getting too familiar with them.

But on the day of judgment, a man's deeds, the record of his deeds, will be presented to him.

In his right hand if he is to be saved, and in his left hand if he is to be condemned.

So there's no doubt about it.

There's no question whatsoever.

The Muhammadan religion, the faith known as Islam, presents no salvation apart from good works, and since, since all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, since one sin is enough to damn a soul, according to the Holy Bible, there is no salvation to be found in the exercise and practice of the Muhammadan religion.

There are ninety-nine names of God in the Arabic languages with which true Muslims tell their beads.

If you don't know what that is, that's that's well, you just wouldn't believe it.

Oh, who else would do something like that?

I'm trying to trying to think as there's some some pagan religion that that has a little string of beads that they use when they pray and and uh say uh tic-tac-toe three in a row, fi-fi fum, uh Fred Barney, Wilma, Yabba Dabba Doo, uh one of the one of those things.

Uh anyway, every one of these names was used by Muhammad in the Quran.

And I've got a list of the names here, but uh I'll not read them uh to you.

Uh I'm trying to look just at a quick view and see if any of these names is a Bible name.

Uh but I don't see one.

Well, the creator, I guess you could you could say God's the creator.

Um, but apart from that, he's living, God's the living God.

That's that's Bible.

Um but uh that that's about it.

Mohammedans believe in but one God, they emphatically deny the Trinity.

They believed Jesus to have been a prophet.

What a strange thing that you could say that Jesus Christ was God's prophet and then not believe what Jesus said.

The Lord Jesus Christ said, I and my father are one.

He said, If you've seen me, you've seen the Father.

Thomas said, My Lord and my God, and worshiped him.

And Jesus Christ received that worship.

If he was not God, if he was not one with the Father, if you could see him and not be seeing the Father, then Jesus Christ was not a prophet, he was a liar.

Somebody's not telling the truth.

It might be Jesus, it might be Muhammad.

I'm betting my soul on the one that rose from the dead.

The Quran or the sacred book of the Muhammadans is regarded as the direct word of God by hundreds of millions of people.

It is read through through start to finish, daily, in many Mohammedan mosques.

Now they don't read the whole thing every day, but they they start and and daily read through verse by verse, line by line.

It is constantly studied in their schools, and because of these facts, the Quran is said to be the most widely read book in the world.

You say, What about the Bible?

Well, most Christians uh have a Bible, but they don't read it, so that that may cause it to fall into second place.

The word Quran in Arabic means the reading, or that which ought to be read.

There are important dates of the Quran as recorded in Muslim history.

It was written by Muhammad in 610 AD.

It was published by Abu Baker in 635 A.D., translated into Latin in 1143, into French in 1647, and into English by George Sale in 1734.

It's a little shorter than our New Testament, has 77,639 words.

It can be read entirely in oh seven hours, ten hours, depending on your reading speed.

It contains 114 chapters whose lengths vary from a single sentence to several pages.

The chapters are called surahs, S-U-R-A, and the longest of these contains 13,000 words.

Muhammad declared that the angel Gabriel appeared to him at many times throughout his life and gave him the various passages at these times.

Gabriel, said Muhammad, told him that the actual book itself existed in heaven and was closely guarded by angels.

It lay on a table of incredible richness and vast extent.

It was originally written by God himself, who ordered Gabriel to transmit it to mankind.

The Muhammadans will not willingly suffer the Quran to be in the possession of an unbeliever, although they've certainly had to back off that position in the United States of America, because like so many of these groups that are out for world conquest and dominion, they take advantage of American liberty and freedom to come to power, and then once they have the power, they take away the liberty and the freedom in the name of their God and their religion.

The Mohammedans treat the book itself with the utmost care and reverence.

Now, if you don't believe that's true, just go to Saudi Arabia and stand on a street corner and preach the Bible.

Now make it a good sermon.

You're only going to get one.

Try it in Iran.

Give tract distribution and public preaching a shot in Libya.

You know, I get these phone calls, these letters from these Muslims in the United States who say, oh no, no, no, no, it's not that way.

It's not that way here because you don't have the power to stop people from preaching Jesus Christ is the Savior of sinners.

But where Muhammadans have the power to stop you, they'll stop you.

The Muhammadan never holds the book below the waist while reading, never handles or touches it until they've carefully cleansed themselves by washing and the legal rites of purification.

On the cover, lest this should be forgotten, they write, Let none touch it but they who are clean.

They write quotations from it on their banners, carry it with them wherever they go, and they embellish its covers with the rarest jewels and swear sacred oaths upon it.

Twenty-nine chapters of the Quran have prefixed the various letters of the Arabic alphabet, some one only, and others several.

These letters are called signs, and their meaning considered a most profound mystery known only to God and the prophet.

So it does nobody any good living on earth today.

Several passages of the Quran which contradict each other are explained by the learned Muhammadan doctors who say that God commanded several things in the Quran which afterwards were cancelled and abrogated.

Sometimes the letter of the law was abrogated, and sometimes both the Spirit and the letter.

Throughout the Quran, God is assumed to be speaking, sometimes in the use of the pronoun I, sometimes in the use of the divine we, which is a strange thing for God to say if he's not a trinity.

We.

God, isn't that plural?

Uh yes.

So God are you a trinity?

Oh no, no.

That's what the Christians believe.

It's believed by the Muhammadans that Muhammad himself could not read or write, and many historians agree.

The Quran was written entirely by scribes who were near Muhammad shortly after he received one of the surahs.

The fragments thus taken were written on flat stones, pieces of leather, ribs of palm trees, and some indeed had been tattooed on the backs or breasts of his followers.

The great quantity of them, however, came from the memories of his closest servants to whom he repeated them at the time of the revelation.

The form of the Quran is semi poetic, but it has no regular metrical form.

Only occasionally does it fall into a root.

Sort of spontaneous rhythm.

A regular form of rhetorical rhyme is maintained throughout.

The rhyme prose was a favorite form among certain writers of Muhammad's day.

And when such verses are spoken about the desert camps, they are very impressive.

The Quran contains the greatest profusion of thought and material.

Many of the surahs are in praise of the greatness and goodness and the majesty of God, while some are moral precepts, some are civil laws, some directions for ceremonies, some histories of ancient prophets and saints, some threats of hell or promises of paradise.

Some are even directed to certain individuals.

One regulates the conduct of Muhammad himself in regard to his wives.

One rebukes him for a neglect of duty.

Many were received when some problem was particularly pressing and contained directions to fit the situation, such as the one upholding Muhammad's method of dividing the spoil after murdering people and taking their possessions and property.

The Muhammadans believed that 104 sacred books have altogether been delivered by God to mankind, ten by Adam, fifty by Seth, thirty by Enoch, ten by Abraham.

The other four the Pentateuch, the Psalms, the Gospel, and the Quran.

They accuse the Jews of having lost or corrupted these sacred works.

The Quran contains an account of creation where God says, quote, We created mankind, we said, we said unto him, therefore, we said unto Eblis, and we said, Isn't that curious?

The Bible says in Genesis 1, God said, Let us, plural, make man in our plural image.

That's what the Quran has.

And yet the Christian believes in the Father and the Word and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one and the Muhammadan is not.

How odd, how odd.

According to the narrative told by God Muhammad and recorded in the Quran, the first man was created and set down to abide on earth to take the place of the fallen creature known as Eblis.

Now I want to ask you something.

I'm just asking.

If Jesus Christ was a prophet, sent by the one true God of heaven, and he spoke the truth, and Muhammad was a prophet sent by the one true God who spoke from heaven and told the truth.

That former prophet Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

That former prophet said, He that believeth on me shall never perish.

That former prophet said, I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish.

I want to ask you something.

If the former prophet said he could and would give everlasting life, and the prophet that came after him, that'd be Muhammad, not only never claimed that he could give everlasting life, never claimed that he could forgive sins, never died for anybody's sins, never rose from the dead.

Why would you risk your eternal soul following a man who left it up to you to do good works, try and get yourself into heaven?

When you could put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved you, gave himself for you, offered his body to be broken for you, shed his blood to wash away your sins, and then rose from the dead with the power of an endless life.

Why would you not trust Jesus Christ?

And if you had the choice between a Savior and a man, between someone who offers you eternal life and someone who says if you go out and kill enough people that disagree with us, you might get to paradise.

Why wouldn't you take Jesus Christ?

Now there's only one reason.

There's only one reason you wouldn't trust Jesus Christ as your Savior.

You think Him to be a liar.

So you've got to do one or two things.

You've got to quit pretending that you respect Jesus but you follow Muhammad.

And just come out and be honest and say you believe Jesus Christ is a liar and you reject him, or, or you've got to say with all due respect, I'm going to reject Muhammad, the dead prophet, and I'm going to trust Jesus Christ, the risen, living, and glorified Savior.

That's your choice.

I can't make it for you.

I've made mine.

I made mine.

I chose Jesus Christ.

I'm trusting Him as my personal Savior.

And I'm trying my best every day to do good works.

But they won't get me to heaven.

I'm already in.

I'm already as good as there with the door shut.

God gave me eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Now that was my choice.

I urge you, I encourage you, I plead with you, I strongly recommend that you make that same choice and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Neither is there salvation in any other.

There is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
