-
One story, one message, and one revelation at
-
a time. I'm your host, Barry Mwamba. Welcome
-
back to another episode of Pomoja Podcast. This
-
is When the Strong Get Tired, episode four, How
-
Great People Quietly Fall. Today, I do not want
-
to preach at you. I want to have a real conversation
-
with you because what we are discussing today
-
is one of the most dangerous realities in life,
-
leadership, ministry, marriage, success, business,
-
and even Christianity itself. How do strong people
-
fall? How do disciplined people slowly lose vigilance?
-
How do gifted people destroy their own future?
-
How do anointed people collapse publicly? How
-
do people who once inspired nations become cautionary
-
stories. Because the truth is, great falls rarely
-
happen suddenly. Most great falls happen quietly,
-
slowly, internally, secretly, long before the
-
public ever notices. And if we are honest, many
-
times the signs were already there. Fatigue,
-
pride, isolation, lack of accountability, secret
-
compromise, carelessness, distraction. loss of
-
spiritual discipline, comfort, success. And this
-
is what makes this conversation important. Because
-
many people think danger only exists during struggle.
-
No. Sometimes the greatest danger comes after
-
the blessing, after the promotion, after the
-
platform, after the influence, after the success,
-
after the doors finally open. And this is why
-
I said in previous episodes, when the strong
-
get tired, they become vulnerable in areas they
-
once controlled carefully. A tired person stops
-
watching carefully. A tired person relaxes spiritually.
-
A tired person begins to lower boundaries. A
-
tired person slowly loses discernment. And sometimes
-
what starts as exhaustion ends as compromise.
-
I want you to think about this carefully. Some
-
people survive warfare, but cannot survive comfort.
-
Some people survive the wilderness, but cannot
-
survive success. Some people survive obscurity,
-
but cannot survive visibility, because success
-
tests character differently than struggle. Struggle
-
forces dependence on God. Success can create
-
the illusion of self -sufficiency. And this is
-
why the Bible constantly warns people not to
-
forget God after blessing arrives. God told Israel,
-
when you enter houses you did not build, when
-
you eat and are full, when silver and gold multiply.
-
Be careful not to forget the Lord your God. Why?
-
Because blessing has a dangerous side effect.
-
It can slowly reduce dependence on God. And this
-
is the deception of this generation. Everybody
-
wants the promise, but very few people want the
-
covenant. Everybody wants elevation, but very
-
few people want the discipline required to sustain
-
elevation. People want the blessing. without
-
the lifestyle that protects the blessing. But
-
hear me carefully. Every blessing is a covenant
-
blessing. Psalm 1 says, blessed is the man, not
-
everybody. The man who refuses certain paths.
-
The man who refuses certain environments. The
-
man who refuses certain lifestyles. That means
-
covenant changes how you live. Covenant changes
-
what you tolerate. Covenant changes your priorities.
-
Covenant changes your private life. A covenant
-
person rearranges life to keep God first, prayer
-
first, presence first, obedience first, purity
-
first, truth first, character first. And this
-
is where many people fail, because they think
-
blessings are sustained only by talent, intelligence,
-
networking, education, or opportunity. No, those
-
things may help you reach a level, but they cannot
-
sustain you there. Character sustains blessings.
-
Discipline sustains blessings. Integrity sustains
-
blessings. The fear of God sustains blessings.
-
And one of the greatest mistakes people make
-
is skipping process. People want crowns without
-
process, titles without preparation, visibility
-
without maturity. But life does not work that
-
way. What you skip learning today will eventually
-
confront you tomorrow. And when it catches up
-
to you, It exposes weakness. It exposes immaturity.
-
It exposes incompetence. And many people are
-
reduced back to levels they never properly grew
-
beyond. That is why some people do not last long
-
in positions. The position elevated them, but
-
their preparation could not sustain them. And
-
the Bible gives us example after example after
-
example. Look at David. David did not skip process.
-
Before the throne there was the field. Before
-
leading a nation, there was loneliness with sheep.
-
Before public victory, there was private preparation.
-
David learned warfare, responsibility, dependence
-
on God, patience, courage. The wilderness built
-
him. But later in life, after success, after
-
power, after becoming established, David relaxed
-
morally. He stayed home when kings went to war.
-
One decision, one moment of comfort. One moment
-
of uncontrolled desire. And adultery entered.
-
Then deception entered. Then murder entered.
-
And from that moment forward, division entered
-
his house. Rebellion entered his family. Violence
-
increased. Pain multiplied. One private compromise
-
affected an entire kingdom. Look at Moses. A
-
deliverer. A giant of faith. A man who spoke
-
with God face to face. Yet one uncontrolled emotional
-
reaction. One moment of anger. cost him entrance
-
into the promised land. That should humble all
-
of us, because it teaches us something serious.
-
No matter how anointed a person becomes, uncontrolled
-
areas remain dangerous. Look at the Israelites.
-
They survived Egypt physically, but Egypt never
-
fully left them internally. Complaining, rebellion,
-
disobedience, lack of gratitude, lack of faith,
-
destroyed an entire generation. Character kept
-
many from entering what God had already prepared.
-
Look at Peter in Gethsemane. Peter loved Jesus.
-
Peter was loyal emotionally. But emotional loyalty
-
without spiritual discernment becomes dangerous.
-
When the soldiers came, Peter cut off the servant's
-
ear. Why? Lack of discernment. Lack of self -control.
-
Personal ambition mixed with misunderstanding.
-
Peter still imagined a political kingdom while
-
Jesus was fulfilling a spiritual mission. And
-
Jesus had to stop everything, heal the man, and
-
protect Peter from unnecessary destruction. Sometimes
-
one emotional reaction can delay destiny. Look
-
at Judas. People think Judas fell overnight.
-
No. The Bible already exposed the pattern early.
-
Judas was stealing secretly from the money bag.
-
Untreated compromise became an open door. Greed
-
entered. Corruption entered. Satan entered. And
-
eventually Judas destroyed himself. What is tolerated
-
privately eventually manifests publicly. Look
-
at Samson. A man born with purpose. A judge of
-
Israel. A carrier of supernatural strength. But
-
Samson kept entertaining what God warned him
-
about. Philistine women, uncontrolled attraction,
-
carelessness, pride in his gifting. And slowly,
-
the strong man became weak. The anointed man
-
became vulnerable. The man who once defeated
-
lions eventually could not discern Delilah. And
-
what did he lose? His eyes, his strength, his
-
freedom, his dignity, and his assignment was
-
shortened. One uncontrolled appetite weakened
-
a divine calling. Look at Solomon. one of the
-
wisest men who ever lived. Yet wisdom without
-
discipline still becomes vulnerable. His attraction
-
toward women slowly pulled his heart away from
-
God. Compromise became normal, and eventually
-
idolatry entered Israel. This is serious because
-
it teaches us something. A person can be incredibly
-
gifted and still slowly drift spiritually. Look
-
at Noah, a righteous man, a survivor of judgment,
-
a man used by God to preserve humanity. Yet drunkenness
-
exposed vulnerability. and weakness entered his
-
house through lack of sobriety. And if we are
-
honest, we still see this pattern today. Pastors
-
falling publicly, leaders collapsing publicly,
-
ministries destroyed publicly, marriages destroyed
-
publicly, businesses destroyed publicly, people
-
who once inspired millions becoming headlines
-
overnight. And we must be careful not to become
-
arrogant while discussing this. Because this
-
is not about saying, we are better than them.
-
No. This is a warning for every single one of
-
us. Without prayer, without accountability, without
-
humility, without discipline, without the Holy
-
Spirit, any human being can fall. And I believe
-
this is one of Satan's most sophisticated strategies
-
against the Church today. Because sometimes he
-
cannot stop your blessing. So he waits. He waits
-
until you become established, until you relax
-
spiritually, until you become distracted, until
-
prayer weakens, until success creates comfort,
-
until boundaries disappear, until hidden compromise
-
begins. because he understands something many
-
people ignore. The higher the elevation, the
-
greater the impact of the fall. And when spiritual
-
leaders fall publicly, the damage spreads far
-
beyond one individual. Weak believers become
-
discouraged. Unbelievers mock Christianity. Some
-
people walk away from church entirely. Others
-
stop trusting spiritual leadership completely.
-
And Satan uses these public collapses as sophisticated
-
weapons against the body of Christ. This is why
-
sustaining blessings requires vigilance. The
-
higher God elevates you, the more careful you
-
must become. Not fearful, but spiritually watchful.
-
And this is why the fruit of the Spirit matters
-
so much. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
-
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self -control.
-
These are not weak Christian words. These are
-
protections for destiny, especially self -control.
-
Because many destinies are not destroyed by lack
-
of opportunity, but by lack of self -control.
-
Joseph understood this. When Potiphar's wife
-
tempted him, he ran. Not because temptation was
-
weak, but because Joseph understood something
-
many people forget. Secret compromise can destroy
-
public destiny. And sustaining blessings is not
-
easy. It requires discipline. It requires accountability.
-
It requires daily surrender. It requires prayer,
-
fasting, meditation on the word, humility. and
-
continuous dependence on the Holy Spirit. Because
-
no human being naturally remains humble forever.
-
No human being naturally survives elevation forever
-
by human strength alone. We need God daily. And
-
Psalm 91 says, He who dwells. Because the blessing
-
is attached to the dwelling. The protection is
-
in the dwelling. The peace is in the dwelling.
-
The discernment is in the dwelling. The strength
-
is in the dwelling. Many people want Psalm 91
-
protection while living far away from Psalm 91
-
presence. But our God is a covenant -keeping
-
God, and covenant changes how you live. So today,
-
do not only pray for elevation. Pray for the
-
character to sustain elevation. Pray for integrity.
-
Pray for discernment. Pray for humility. Pray
-
for discipline. Pray for the fear of God. Pray
-
for the strength to remain watchful after success
-
arrives. Because blessings can be received in
-
a moment, but sustaining them is a daily walk
-
with God. Let us pray. Father, in the name of
-
Jesus, we thank you for every blessing, every
-
opportunity, every door, every level, every platform,
-
and every assignment you have trusted us with.
-
But Lord, today we ask for something deeper.
-
Give us the character to sustain what you give
-
us. Protect us from pride. Protect us from distraction
-
after elevation. Protect us from hidden compromise.
-
Protect us from secret weakness. Teach us to
-
remain humble when doors open. Teach us to remain
-
prayerful during success. Teach us to remain
-
disciplined when temptation increases. Holy Spirit,
-
restore spiritual vigilance inside of us. Restore
-
discernment. Restore hunger for your presence.
-
Restore integrity. Restore purity. Restore self
-
-control. And Father, for every tired believer
-
listening today, restore their strength before
-
weakness becomes compromise. Do not allow one
-
moment of distraction to destroy years of obedience.
-
Keep us aligned. Keep us watchful. Keep us dwelling
-
in Your presence. And may the blessings attached
-
to covenant, obedience, discipline, and intimacy
-
with You remain established upon our lives. In
-
Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for joining me today
-
on Pomoja Podcast. And remember, when the strong
-
get tired, they must not run away from God. They
-
must return deeper into His presence. Until next
-
time, stay prayerful, stay watchful, stay aligned,
-
and continue walking in purpose.
