Have you ever noticed something strange? Sometimes
-
the opportunity to sin does not feel shocking.
-
It feels familiar, almost natural, almost comfortable
-
and the reason is simple. The seed was planted
-
long before the temptation arrived. There are
-
seeds planted in our lives without our knowledge.
-
Seeds planted quietly in our subconscious. Through
-
movies, through Hollywood, through TV series,
-
through images, music and stories that slowly
-
shape how we think. And the danger is this. When
-
the opportunity to sin finally appears, it feels
-
familiar. not because it is right but because
-
the seed was already planted. This is one of
-
the most subtle weapons the enemy uses against
-
believers. the silent infiltration of sin through
-
the mind. But there is another type of seed,
-
not the one planted without your knowledge, the
-
one you knowingly entertain, the one you allow
-
to stay, the one you feed with your attention,
-
the one you keep looking at. The fruit in the
-
Garden of Eden was pleasant to the eyes, attractive,
-
desirable. Lot pitched his tent near Sodom, a
-
city known for its wickedness. But the next thing
-
we know, he was already living inside the city.
-
Because that is how sin works. We think we can
-
stay near it without entering it. We think we
-
can play close to the line without crossing it.
-
But playing with sin is a game we will always
-
lose. Because while we entertain that seed, deep
-
inside our hearts, we already know something.
-
Part of us wants it. And this is where the real
-
battle begins. Because the struggle against sin
-
is not only outside of us, it is also inside
-
of us. We encounter temptation every day. We
-
see things that influence our thoughts. We hear
-
things that awaken desires within the flesh.
-
None of us is completely exempt from this battle.
-
Even the apostle Paul spoke about it honestly.
-
He said that he wanted to do what was good, but
-
sometimes he found himself doing the very thing
-
he did not want to do. Paul was describing the
-
war between two natures within us. The nature
-
of the flesh and the nature created by God through
-
the spirit. This internal conflict is the reason
-
why walking in holiness can sometimes feel like
-
a constant fight. No one is completely immune
-
to this struggle. Not believers, not leaders,
-
not even preachers. That is why sometimes we
-
hear about ministers. priests or well -known
-
leaders falling into sin. People are shocked
-
when it happens, but the truth is that the battle
-
they faced is the same battle every believer
-
faces. Jesus revealed this reality when a crowd
-
brought to him a woman caught in adultery and
-
wanted to stone her. He simply said, he who is
-
without sin among you, let him cast the first
-
stone. One by one, they walked away. Not because
-
sin was acceptable, but because their conscience
-
reminded them of their own struggles. I am not
-
saying this to justify sin. Sin destroys lives.
-
Sin destroys families. Sin destroys destinies.
-
But if we want victory over sin, we must first
-
understand where the battle begins. It begins
-
with the seed. Sometimes the seed is planted
-
without our knowledge. Sometimes it is the seed
-
we knowingly entertain. Victory begins with honesty,
-
recognizing the seed, acknowledging the temptation,
-
being aware of the areas where we are weak, recognizing
-
that truth is the first step to victory. Deciding
-
to resist is the second step, and sometimes resistance
-
requires something radical. Do not place yourself
-
in the envi - environment that feeds the seed
-
Joseph understood that when temptation pressed
-
him when pressure increased he did not negotiate
-
he ran Sometimes the most spiritual decision
-
you can make is simply to run away Joseph ran
-
Samson stayed Joseph resisted the seed Samson
-
entertained it and what Samson entertained eventually
-
destroyed him Winning this battle requires more
-
than a quick remedy. It requires a lifestyle,
-
a lifestyle of prayer, a lifestyle of discipline,
-
a lifestyle of surrounding yourself with people
-
who strengthen your faith, a lifestyle of staying
-
close to the word of God. Sometimes it requires
-
fasting, sometimes it requires accountability,
-
but above all, we need help from the Holy Spirit
-
because even the disciples struggled. Some doubted,
-
some returned to their old lives, but Jesus did
-
not give up on them. He told them they would
-
receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon
-
them. That same spirit still strengthens believers
-
today. So fight the good fight of faith. Do not
-
let sin win easily. Do not entertain the seed
-
that will destroy you tomorrow. Resist. Stand
-
firm. Because every seed you refuse to feed dies.
-
But every seed you entertain will eventually
-
produce fruit. So choose carefully what you allow
-
to grow in your life. The seed you entertain
-
today becomes the battle you fight tomorrow.
