NOTHING IS WASTED-Conversation Two: When God Is Preparing You Without Telling You

your host, Barry Mwamba. Today, we continue exploring

one of the most comforting truths in all of scripture,

the providence of God, the invisible hand of

God, quietly working behind the scenes, guiding,

preparing. opening doors, closing others, leading

his children even when they cannot yet see where

the road is taking them. Last time, we discovered

something remarkable. God's greatest work isn't

always revealed through spectacular miracles.

Sometimes, His greatest work is happening quietly

through ordinary days, ordinary conversations,

ordinary decisions, ordinary seasons of life.

Today, I want to take you one step deeper. Because

if Joseph teaches us that God works through betrayal,

then Moses teaches us that God works through

waiting. Imagine being Moses, 40 years old, raised

in Pharaoh's palace, educated, powerful, influential.

Perhaps he believed, this is the moment God is

going to use me. Then everything changed. One

decision, one mistake, one act of impatience.

Suddenly, the prince became a fugitive. The palace

became the wilderness. Influence became isolation.

Can you imagine waking up the next morning? No

servants. No palace. No title. No recognition.

Just sheep. Day after day. Week after week. Month

after month. Year after year. 40 years. 40 years

doing something that probably felt insignificant.

40 years wondering if God's purpose had passed

him by. How many of us? would have concluded,

I missed my calling. But what Moses called delay,

God called preparation. Think about it. How could

Moses lead Israel through a wilderness if he

had never learned the wilderness? How could he

trust God for daily provision if he had always

lived in Pharaoh's abundance? How could he shepherd

millions if he had never first learned to shepherd

sheep? The desert wasn't punishment. The desert

was preparation. Sometimes The place you want

to escape is the very place God is using to prepare

you. Then one ordinary morning, Moses climbed

another mountain, probably one he had climbed

many times before. Nothing seemed unusual, nothing

extraordinary. He wasn't looking for a miracle.

He was simply being faithful with today's assignment.

Then one bush began to burn. Think about this.

The miracle wasn't only that the bush burned

without being consumed. The miracle was that

while Moses thought he had been forgotten, God

had been preparing him for 40 years. Providence

had been working long before the burning bush

appeared. Perhaps that's why we become discouraged

too quickly. We celebrate the moment of calling,

but we underestimate the years of preparation.

God rarely prepares us publicly. Most of his

greatest work happens in private. Now let me

take you to another young man, David. I absolutely

love this story. Because David wasn't chasing

greatness, he was carrying lunch. His father

simply said, take food to your brothers. That's

it. No prophecy that morning, no angel, no announcement.

Just a father asking his son to perform an ordinary

family responsibility. Can I be honest? Most

of us would have considered that assignment too

small, too ordinary, too insignificant. Yet hidden

inside that ordinary assignment was Goliath.

David wasn't looking for a giant. The giant was

waiting for David. If David had refused to carry

lunch, he would have missed the battlefield.

If he had despised the small assignment, he would

have missed the historic one. That makes me wonder

how many opportunities from God are hidden inside

responsibilities we consider too ordinary. Sometimes

we pray, Lord, reveal my purpose, and God quietly

answers, be faithful with today's assignment.

Because today's obedience often becomes tomorrow's

platform. Never underestimate what God can do

through one simple act of faithfulness. Then

comes Nehemiah, one of my favorite examples of

God's providence. Because nothing supernatural

appears to happen. No burning bush, no angel,

no vision, no voice from heaven. Just a conversation.

Nehemiah was serving as the king's cup bearer.

Every day looked the same. The same palace, The

same king, the same routine. Until one day, someone

arrived from Jerusalem. Nehemiah asked a simple

question. How are the people? How is Jerusalem?

The answer changed everything. The walls are

broken down. The gates have been burned. Everybody

heard the same report, but only one man carried

the burden. Later, Nehemiah writes something

beautiful. My God put it into my heart. I love

those words. because they remind us that God

doesn't always speak through thunder. Sometimes,

He speaks through a burden that refuses to leave

your heart. Everybody notices problems. Not everybody

receives an assignment. Could it be that the

thing you cannot stop praying about, the injustice

that deeply moves you, the people who constantly

remain on your heart, the ministry that keeps

returning to your thoughts, isn't random? Could

it be that God is quietly placing His purpose

inside you? Sometimes, Calling doesn't arrive

as a lightning bolt. Sometimes it begins as a

burden. I've learned something over the years.

The longer I walk with Christ, the less I chase

dramatic experiences. Instead, I've learned to

treasure daily fellowship with him. Because the

closer you walk with the shepherd, the more familiar

his voice becomes. Jesus said, my sheep hear

my voice. For most believers, that voice is recognized

through a life immersed in scripture. through

prayer, through quiet conviction, through the

Holy Spirit shaping our hearts, through wisdom,

through open doors, through closed doors, through

burdens, through providence. And the beautiful

thing is this, the shepherd still knows how to

lead his sheep, even when they cannot yet see

where he is taking them. Next time, we'll discover

something even more amazing. We'll meet two women,

Esther and Ruth, two ordinary lives. that changed

history forever. Not because they witnessed spectacular

miracles, but because God was quietly writing

His greatest work behind the scenes. Until then,

remember this. Never confuse God's silence with

God's absence. While you are waiting, He is working.

While you are wondering, He is preparing. And

while you are faithfully walking, He is already

arranging tomorrow. Together in faith, together

in Christ.
