The House in the Middle of the forest-BONUS

Every marriage has a beginning, but not every

beginning has God. My story starts with a parable

my father told me, one that took me more than

20 years to fully understand. He said, marriage

is like discovering a beautiful house in the

middle of a vast forest. A man walks by, sees

the house, and he's immediately drawn to it.

Something about the beauty, the warmth, the laughter

inside, makes him want to enter. But the moment

he steps inside, he realizes three things. The

door only opens from the outside. The windows

are sealed shut. The house is warm, even uncomfortably

warm. And still, the couple living inside is

joyful. My father looked at me and said, if you

want your marriage to endure the heat, you must

know the foundation. The foundation of marriage

is not romance. It's not compatibility. It's

not desire. The foundation is God. Unless the

Lord builds the house, those who build it labor

in vain. Before I asked my wife to marry me,

I asked God. I prayed, I fasted, I waited. I

waited until the Holy Spirit opened my eyes,

until I heard in my spirit, she is the one. And

because God started it, God sustained it. When

storms came, when winds blew, when rain beat

against our marriage, It did not collapse because

it was built on bedrock. A strong marriage is

not built on feelings. It is built on a foundation

anchored in God's purpose. Lord, guide our marriages.

Be the foundation beneath our feet. Let your

spirit lead every decision we make. Because you

promised, the blessing of the Lord makes rich
