  1. Welcome to Pomoja Podcast. The place where stronger

  2. lives are built, faith is strengthened, hearts

  3. are encouraged, and Christ -centered homes are

  4. shaped through ordinary conversations that become

  5. extraordinary encounters with God's truth. I'm

  6. your host, Barry Mwamba. Last time, we discovered

  7. something that completely changed the way I look

  8. at difficult seasons. We discovered that while

  9. David was still sitting in the cave, God was

  10. already gathering four hundred men, while Joseph

  11. was still sleeping in prison. God was already

  12. disturbing Pharaoh's dreams. While Shadrach,

  13. Meshach, and Abednego were walking toward the

  14. furnace, God had already gone before them. And

  15. maybe, while you're walking through your own

  16. valley today. God is already moving in ways you

  17. cannot yet see. That conversation left me with

  18. another question, one that honestly stayed in

  19. my heart. If God is already moving, why doesn't

  20. he simply tell us everything? Have you ever wondered

  21. that? I certainly have. Why doesn't God simply

  22. tell Joseph, don't worry, you'll only be in prison

  23. for two more years? Why doesn't he tell David,

  24. Those 400 men are already on their way. Why doesn't

  25. he tell Daniel, the lions won't touch you? Why

  26. doesn't he tell Abraham exactly when Isaac will

  27. be born? Wouldn't that make life so much easier?

  28. Wouldn't faith become so much easier? The more

  29. I thought about that, the more I realized. Perhaps

  30. God isn't trying to make faith easier. Perhaps

  31. he's trying to make faith deeper. Because if

  32. God explained everything, would we still need

  33. faith? That question brought me straight to Hebrews

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  34. chapter 11. And I think for the first time I

  35. began reading it differently. For years I thought

  36. Hebrews 11 was simply a chapter about great men

  37. and women of faith. Now I think it's something

  38. much deeper. It's a chapter about ordinary people.

  39. who kept trusting God while they didn't understand

  40. what he was doing. That changes everything because

  41. suddenly faith is no longer about seeing the

  42. miracle. Faith becomes trusting God before the

  43. miracle. Faith is no longer celebrating the answer.

  44. Faith becomes continuing to pray before the answer

  45. arrives. Faith is no longer standing on the other

  46. side of the Red Sea. Faith is taking the first

  47. step while the sea is still closed. And then

  48. one sentence came into my spirit, a sentence

  49. that has stayed with me ever since. Faith is

  50. not understanding the author. Faith is trusting

  51. the author while he is still writing. The more

  52. I thought about that, the more I realized that's

  53. exactly what every person in Hebrews 11 was doing.

  54. None of them had the complete story. None of

  55. them could see the last chapter. None of them

  56. knew how everything would unfold. They simply

  57. trusted the one holding the pen. And maybe that's

  58. where you and I are today. Not at the end of

  59. the story, not even close. We're somewhere in

  60. the middle chapters. The chapters where questions

  61. are still louder than answers, where promises

  62. seem bigger than circumstances, where prayers

  63. continue even when heaven appears silent. And

  64. perhaps that is exactly where faith does its

  65. greatest work. There is something I've noticed

  66. about almost every servant of God. None of them

  67. had the privilege of reading the last chapter.

  68. while they were living the middle one. Joseph

  69. didn't know prison would become the pathway to

  70. the palace. David didn't know the cave would

  71. become the birthplace of a kingdom. Abraham didn't

  72. know how God would fulfill his promise. Paul

  73. didn't know his prison letters would one day

  74. become part of the New Testament. They all had

  75. something in common. They knew God, but they

  76. did not know the entire plan. And maybe that's

  77. exactly how God intended it. Because if they

  78. had known everything, it wouldn't have required

  79. faith. Faith lives where explanations stop. Faith

  80. begins where certainty ends. Faith continues

  81. walking even when understanding cannot. And I

  82. wonder if that's exactly why some of us are struggling.

  83. Not because we lack God's promises. But because

  84. we want explanations when God is inviting us

  85. to trust and maybe That's exactly where faith

  86. does its greatest work Not after the miracle

  87. before it not after the answer before it not

  88. after understanding before understanding ever

  89. arrives I think that's why Hebrews chapter 11

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  90. has become one of my favorite chapters in the

  91. Bible Because if you remove the miracles for

  92. just a moment, what remains? People, ordinary

  93. men and women, living one ordinary day at a time,

  94. making one decision of obedience after another,

  95. without knowing how their stories would end.

  96. Sometimes we read Hebrews 11 as though those

  97. men and women knew they would become heroes of

  98. the faith, they didn't. Abraham had no idea millions

  99. of people would one day call him the father of

  100. faith. Joseph never imagined that one day children

  101. would learn his story in Sunday school around

  102. the world. David never thought the songs he was

  103. writing in lonely caves would become worship

  104. for generations. Paul never imagined that letters

  105. written from prison would become part of the

  106. New Testament. They were simply living, trusting,

  107. obeying, one day at a time. And maybe that's

  108. exactly what faith looks like, not seeing the

  109. entire staircase, but taking the next step because

  110. you trust the one who asked you to move. I think

  111. sometimes we make faith look much more complicated

  112. than it really is. We imagine faith as something

  113. extraordinary, something reserved for spiritual

  114. giants. But when I read Hebrews 11, I don't see

  115. superheroes. I see people who simply decided,

  116. I'm going to trust God today. That's all Abraham

  117. could do. That's all Sarah could do. That's all

  118. Moses could do. That's all Daniel could do. That's

  119. all Paul could do. And maybe that's all God is

  120. asking from us today, not to understand the next

  121. 10 years, simply to trust Him today. Because

  122. the truth is, God rarely explains himself completely.

  123. Have you noticed that? He gives Abraham a promise,

  124. but not a calendar. He gives Joseph dreams, but

  125. not an explanation of the prison. He anoints

  126. David King, but doesn't tell him about the caves.

  127. He calls Moses, but doesn't describe 40 years

  128. in the wilderness. He calls Jeremiah, but doesn't

  129. promise everyone will listen. He calls Paul,

  130. but also tells him, I will show him how much

  131. he must suffer for my name. God gives enough

  132. light to take the next step, but rarely enough

  133. to see the entire journey. And maybe that is

  134. intentional, because if God showed me every chapter

  135. of my life today, would I still need faith tomorrow?

  136. Probably not. I would simply be following information.

  137. Faith begins, where explanations end. Faith continues,

  138. when emotions fluctuate. Faith remains, when

  139. circumstances refuse to change. Faith keeps praying,

  140. when heaven appears silent. Faith keeps worshiping,

  141. when the prison doors remain closed. Faith keeps

  142. loving, when life becomes difficult. Faith keeps

  143. obeying, when obedience doesn't immediately make

  144. sense. And I wonder if that's why God never gave

  145. Joseph an explanation. Because Joseph didn't

  146. need an explanation. He needed God's presence.

  147. David didn't need an explanation. He needed God's

  148. presence. Daniel didn't need an explanation.

  149. He needed God's presence. Paul didn't need an

  150. explanation. He needed God's presence. Do you

  151. see something beautiful here? The more I read

  152. the Bible, the more I realize God often gives

  153. us something better than explanations. He gives

  154. us himself. Moses understood that. When God told

  155. him, my presence will go with you, Moses didn't

  156. ask for a better strategy. He didn't ask for

  157. a detailed map. He simply answered, if your presence

  158. does not go with us, do not send us from here.

  159. Why? because Moses had already discovered something.

  160. The presence of God is greater than knowing tomorrow.

  161. And I think that's where faith reaches maturity.

  162. Not when I finally receive every answer I've

  163. been asking for, but when I can honestly say,

  164. Lord, I still have questions. There are still

  165. things I don't understand. There are still prayers

  166. I'm waiting to see answered. But I know you,

  167. and knowing you is enough for me to keep walking.

  168. I believe that is the faith Hebrews chapter 11

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  169. is talking about. Not faith that understands

  170. everything, faith that trusts someone, faith

  171. that has discovered. The author is trustworthy,

  172. even when the chapter being written doesn't yet

  173. make sense, and perhaps. That's why none of those

  174. men and women quit Not because they had all the

  175. answers but because they had become convinced

  176. that the one writing their story would never

  177. stop being faithful and That thought led me to

  178. another question if faith is trusting the author

  179. while he is still writing What happens? When

  180. the chapter you're living looks nothing like

  181. the promise he gave you I think that's where

  182. Abraham's story begins. Because if there is one

  183. man in the Bible who understood what it meant

  184. to trust God without having every answer, it

  185. was Abraham. Think about it for a moment. God

  186. comes to Abraham and makes an incredible promise.

  187. I will make you into a great nation. It's a beautiful

  188. promise, an extraordinary promise. But there

  189. was one problem. Abraham didn't even have a son.

  190. Have you ever thought about that? God spoke about

  191. a nation while Abraham was still waiting for

  192. one child. I don't know about you, but if I had

  193. been Abraham, I probably would have had a few

  194. questions. Lord, you set a nation. Can we first

  195. talk about one son? And maybe... That's exactly

  196. where faith begins. Faith begins when God's promise

  197. seems much bigger than your present reality.

  198. Every morning Abraham woke up. The promise remained.

  199. But nothing around him seemed to change. Another

  200. day passed. Nothing. Another month. Nothing.

  201. Another year. Still nothing. Can you imagine

  202. that? The promise hadn't changed. God hadn't

  203. changed. But Abraham's circumstances looked exactly

  204. the same. I think that's where many believers

  205. quietly struggle. We don't struggle because God

  206. has never spoken. We struggle because He spoke.

  207. And then everything became quiet. We expected

  208. immediate movement. God invited us into waiting.

  209. And waiting is probably one of the greatest classrooms

  210. of faith, because waiting forces us to answer

  211. one question. Do I trust God because I already

  212. see the miracle? Or do I trust Him simply because

  213. He spoke? Those are two very different kinds

  214. of faith. One depends on visible evidence. The

  215. other depends on the character of God. And when

  216. I read Hebrews chapter 11, I realize God never

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  217. asked Abraham to believe in the impossible. He

  218. asked Abraham to believe. In him, that changes

  219. everything, because faith is not confidence in

  220. circumstances. Faith is confidence in the one

  221. who made the promise. The promise may seem impossible,

  222. but the promiser remains faithful. Sarah eventually

  223. learned the same lesson. At first, she laughed,

  224. not because she hated God, because the promise

  225. seemed impossible. Humanly speaking, It was impossible.

  226. Time had already spoken. Age had already spoken.

  227. Biology had already spoken. Everything around

  228. her was saying, it cannot happen. But God had

  229. already spoken. And when God speaks, His word

  230. always has the final authority. That's why I

  231. love something the angel asked Sarah. Is anything

  232. too hard for the Lord? Notice, God didn't explain

  233. how. He simply reminded her who he is. Sometimes,

  234. God answers our questions, not by explaining

  235. his methods, but by revealing his character.

  236. That thought really challenged me because I realized

  237. I spend too much time asking, how? While God

  238. keeps reminding me, look at who is speaking.

  239. Maybe faith has never been about understanding

  240. God's methods. Maybe faith has always been about

  241. knowing God's heart. And that's exactly what

  242. Abraham learned. He never knew every detail.

  243. He simply became convinced that the God who made

  244. the promise was faithful enough to fulfill it.

  245. Then something beautiful happened in my heart.

  246. I realized every servant of God eventually reaches

  247. this place. A place where they stop depending

  248. on explanations and start depending on God's

  249. character. Joseph reached that place. David reached

  250. that place. Daniel reached that place. Paul reached

  251. that place. And perhaps, God is inviting us there

  252. too. Not to understand everything, but to know

  253. Him so deeply that even when life doesn't make

  254. sense, our confidence in Him never changes. Because

  255. once you know the author, you stop panicking

  256. every time you don't understand the chapter.

  257. And that made me think about Joseph again, because

  258. no one, perhaps more than Joseph, lived through

  259. chapters that looked completely opposite to the

  260. promise God had given him. Yet somehow, he never

  261. stopped believing. God gave Joseph two dreams,

  262. beautiful dreams, powerful dreams, dreams about

  263. purpose, dreams about influence, dreams about

  264. leadership. Imagine being Joseph that morning.

  265. You're 17 years old. God has just shown you something

  266. extraordinary about your future. If someone had

  267. asked Joseph, what do you think happens next?

  268. What do you think he would have answered? Perhaps,

  269. God is about to open doors. Perhaps my life is

  270. about to become easier. Instead, his brothers

  271. hated him. Then they betrayed him. Then they

  272. threw him into a pit. Then they sold him as a

  273. slave. Then he was falsely accused. Then he was

  274. forgotten in prison. Can you imagine how confusing

  275. that must have been? Because if I compare the

  276. dream to the journey, Nothing seems to match.

  277. The dream speaks about leadership. The journey

  278. speaks about slavery. The dream speaks about

  279. honor. The journey speaks about humiliation.

  280. The dream speaks about influence. The journey

  281. speaks about isolation. Have you ever had a season

  282. like that, where what God promised and what you

  283. are experiencing seem to be moving in opposite

  284. directions? I think many believers quietly lose

  285. heart right there. Not because God failed to

  286. speak, but because life stopped looking like

  287. the promise. And yet, Joseph never stopped being

  288. Joseph. Have you ever noticed that? He served

  289. faithfully in Potiphar's house. He served faithfully

  290. in prison. He interpreted dreams with the same

  291. integrity, whether he was wearing a servant's

  292. garment or a prisoner's garment. His circumstances

  293. kept changing. His character didn't. That really

  294. challenged me. Because sometimes we postpone

  295. faithfulness until the miracle arrives. Joseph

  296. remained faithful before the miracle. He remained

  297. honest before justice. He remained excellent

  298. before promotion. He remained dependent on God

  299. before deliverance. And maybe that's what faith

  300. really looks like. Faith is not waiting to become

  301. faithful when life finally makes sense. Faith

  302. is remaining faithful while life makes no sense

  303. at all. Then something else caught my attention.

  304. Joseph never spent his life trying to force God's

  305. promise to happen. He didn't escape the prison.

  306. He didn't manipulate Pharaoh. He didn't seek

  307. revenge against his brothers. He simply remained

  308. faithful where God had placed him. I wonder how

  309. often we exhaust ourselves trying to open doors

  310. that only God can open. Joseph teaches us something

  311. beautiful. Your responsibility is faithfulness.

  312. God's responsibility is fulfillment. That takes

  313. a tremendous burden off our shoulders because

  314. faith doesn't have to manufacture the miracle.

  315. Faith simply continues walking with God until

  316. his time arrives and maybe That's why Joseph

  317. could later say to his brothers, you meant evil

  318. against me, but God meant it for good. Notice,

  319. he didn't say, now I understand everything. He

  320. simply recognized that God had been writing another

  321. story behind the one everyone else could see.

  322. The pit wasn't the end. The slavery wasn't the

  323. end. The prison wasn't the end. They were chapters.

  324. necessary chapters, chapters Joseph would never

  325. have chosen, but chapters God refused to waste.

  326. And then it suddenly became personal for me.

  327. How many chapters in my own life have I been

  328. trying to close while God was still writing them?

  329. How many times have I called something a failure,

  330. that God was calling preparation? How many times

  331. have I prayed, Lord, get me out? while God was

  332. quietly saying, Barry, I'm not finished writing

  333. this chapter yet. That thought changed me, because

  334. maybe the goal is not to escape every difficult

  335. chapter. Maybe the goal is to remain faithful

  336. until the author turns the page. And when I thought

  337. about that, my mind immediately went back to

  338. David. Because if Joseph teaches us how to trust

  339. the promise, David teaches us how to worship

  340. while you're still waiting for it. And perhaps

  341. that's where we'll begin next time. Because David,

  342. Daniel, and Paul all discovered something that

  343. Joseph had not yet fully revealed. They discovered

  344. that faith doesn't simply keep believing. Faith

  345. begins to sing. Faith begins to worship. Faith

  346. begins to write. David sang in the cave. Daniel

  347. prayed in exile. Paul wrote from prison. None

  348. of them knew that what they were doing in those

  349. dark moments would one day strengthen generations

  350. they would never meet. Think about that for a

  351. moment. David thought he was writing songs to

  352. God. God was preparing the worship of his people

  353. for thousands of years. Daniel thought he was

  354. simply remaining faithful in a foreign land.

  355. God was revealing his kingdom to generations

  356. yet unborn. Paul thought he was encouraging a

  357. few churches from a prison cell. God was building

  358. the theological foundation of his church. None

  359. of them realized that while they were simply

  360. trying to remain faithful, God was creating a

  361. legacy. And maybe, That's one of the greatest

  362. lessons of faith. Faith is not only believing

  363. that God will fulfill his promise. Faith is continuing

  364. to worship, to pray, to write, to obey, even

  365. when you have no idea how far your obedience

  366. will reach. Perhaps the greatest works God accomplishes

  367. through our lives are the ones we will never

  368. fully understand while we are living them. And

  369. that is exactly where our next conversation begins.

  370. Because if faith continues walking, even without

  371. explanations, what happens when God turns your

  372. cave, your exile, or your prison into a testimony

  373. that will outlive you? I cannot wait to explore

  374. that with you. Until next time, keep trusting,

  375. keep dwelling, keep obeying. Because the author

  376. is still writing.
