  1. This is a prayer for examination, exposure, and

  2. refinement. Search me, O God, and know my heart.

  3. Try me and know my thoughts. God, today I am

  4. not asking you first to change what is happening

  5. around me. I am asking you to search what is

  6. happening within me. Search my heart. Search

  7. my motives. Search my thoughts. Search my desires.

  8. Search my relationships. Search my habits. Search

  9. my reactions. Search my words search the places

  10. within me that success may have hidden Comfort

  11. may have covered and position may have protected

  12. God Show me me Not the person I think I am Not

  13. the person others believe me to be not the person

  14. I present publicly Show me the condition of my

  15. heart when nobody is watching and if the fire

  16. is revealing something within me Give me the

  17. humility to see it. God, when pressure brings

  18. anger out of me, don't let me only blame the

  19. person who provoked me. Show me what needs healing

  20. within me. When correction makes me defensive,

  21. show me what pride may still be protecting. When

  22. somebody else's success makes me uncomfortable,

  23. show me whether jealousy has found a place in

  24. my heart. When waiting produces frustration,

  25. show me where impatience is still governing me.

  26. When rejection makes me question my worth, show

  27. me where I have depended too heavily upon human

  28. approval. When authority exposes something different

  29. in me, remind me that influence was never given

  30. to feed my ego. And when temptation reveals an

  31. appetite I thought I had conquered, teach me

  32. not to hide it, justify it, or feed it. God,

  33. expose the seed before it becomes a harvest.

  34. God, refine my tongue. Your word teaches me that

  35. a small rudder can direct a great ship and a

  36. small spark can set an entire forest on fire.

  37. So God, refine my tongue. Teach me to govern

  38. my mouth. When I am angry, guard my words. When

  39. I am offended, guard my words. When I am misunderstood,

  40. guard my words. When I possess information that

  41. could damage another person, give me wisdom.

  42. When gossip reaches my ears, give me discipline

  43. not to carry it further. When I have the opportunity

  44. to humiliate someone, give me the character to

  45. refuse. When I am corrected, teach me to listen

  46. before I defend myself. When I disagree, teach

  47. me to disagree without becoming destructive.

  48. When silence will protect peace, teach me to

  49. remain silent. When truth must be spoken, give

  50. me the courage to speak it with wisdom, love

  51. and self -control. God, do not allow my mouth

  52. to destroy what my prayers have been asking you

  53. to build. Do not allow one uncontrolled reaction

  54. to damage years of obedience. Do not allow temporary

  55. anger to create permanent consequences. Put a

  56. guard over my mouth Teach me to govern what you

  57. have given me before you increase my influence

  58. Don't let me defend what you are trying to remove

  59. God when you reveal something within me Do not

  60. allow pride to make excuses for it Take away

  61. the words That's just how I am Take away the

  62. excuse Everybody does it Take away the defense

  63. They started it Take away every justification

  64. that protects something you are trying to transform.

  65. If it does not belong in the person you are preparing

  66. me to become I surrender it. If pride must leave,

  67. let it leave. If bitterness must leave, let it

  68. leave. If uncontrolled anger must leave, let

  69. it leave. If jealousy must leave, let it leave.

  70. If an unhealthy appetite must die, let it die.

  71. If a dangerous relationship must lose access

  72. to my life, give me the courage to establish

  73. the boundary. If compromise has become comfortable,

  74. awaken my conscience again. If success has made

  75. me spiritually careless, bring me back to dependence

  76. upon you. If applause has become too important

  77. to me, teach me again to live for your approval.

  78. If authority has changed the way I treat people,

  79. humble me. If my private character cannot sustain

  80. my public assignment, refine me before you enlarge

  81. me. Holy Spirit, help me, Holy Spirit. I need

  82. your help. I cannot refine myself by human strength

  83. alone. Produce your fruit within me. Give me

  84. patience when I want to react. Give me gentleness

  85. when I possess the power to be harsh. Give me

  86. humility when pride wants to defend itself. Give

  87. me wisdom when emotion wants to decide. Give

  88. me discernment when compromise presents itself

  89. as something harmless. And give me self -control

  90. when temporary desire attempts to compete with

  91. permanent purpose. Teach me to recognize the

  92. moment before the moment becomes a mistake. Teach

  93. me to recognize the seed before the seed becomes

  94. a harvest. Teach me to recognize compromise before

  95. compromise becomes bondage. Teach me to recognize

  96. the spark before the forest begins to burn. I

  97. will not waste the exposure. God, if you reveal

  98. a crack in my foundation, I will not be angry

  99. because construction has stopped. I will thank

  100. you for showing me the crack before another floor

  101. was added. If you expose weakness before expansion

  102. I will receive the warning. If you expose pride

  103. before promotion I will receive the correction.

  104. If you expose an appetite before greater access

  105. I will receive the protection. If you expose

  106. my tongue before increasing my voice I will receive

  107. the discipline. If you expose my character before

  108. increasing my authority, I will receive the refinement.

  109. Because I understand now, exposure can be mercy.

  110. You may be showing me today what you refuse to

  111. allow to destroy tomorrow. So I will not hide

  112. from what the fire reveals. I will not defend

  113. it. I will not normalize it. I will not blame

  114. everybody else for it. I will bring it before

  115. you, and I will say, God, refine me. Therefore,

  116. I declare, I declare that the fire will not be

  117. wasted. I declare that pressure will not merely

  118. hurt me, it will teach me. I declare that what

  119. God reveals, I will have the courage to confront.

  120. I declare that what must be surrendered, I will

  121. surrender. I declare that what must be healed,

  122. God will heal. I declare that what must be disciplined

  123. I will bring under the authority of the Holy

  124. Spirit. I declare that my tongue will not destroy

  125. my testimony. My reactions will not control my

  126. destiny. My appetites will not govern my decisions.

  127. My pride will not sabotage my purpose. My relationships

  128. will not pull me away from God's direction. My

  129. private life will not become the enemy of my

  130. public assignment. I declare that my character

  131. will grow with my calling. My discipline will

  132. grow with my opportunity. My humility will grow

  133. with my influence. My wisdom will grow with my

  134. authority. And my self -control will grow with

  135. my access. I will not merely ask God for greater

  136. things. I will surrender to the preparation required

  137. to carry greater things. God, search me, know

  138. my heart, try me, reveal what is within me, and

  139. when you reveal it, give me the courage to place

  140. it on the altar. Because I would rather be corrected

  141. before expansion than destroyed after promotion

  142. I would rather have the impurity exposed in the

  143. fire then carry it into my purpose I would rather

  144. allow God to refine me today then allow an undisciplined

  145. weakness to destroy tomorrow what took years

  146. to build. Therefore, I declare, I will not fear

  147. the refining. I will not waste the exposure.

  148. I will not defend what God is trying to remove.

  149. The fire is revealing. The Holy Spirit is correcting.

  150. My character is developing. My discipline is

  151. strengthening. My heart is being purified. And

  152. I am becoming capable of carrying what God has

  153. entrusted to me. I am being refined for a purpose.

  154. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. You are not

  155. alone.
