Psalm 100 in 1967 declares, before I was afflicted,
-
I went astray, but now I obey your word. Today,
-
Lord, I surrender my season to you, the place
-
where I am, the circumstances surrounding me,
-
the doors that have opened, the doors that have
-
closed, the things that have changed, and the
-
discomfort I do not completely understand. God.
-
I do not want to run simply because something
-
has become difficult, but I also do not want
-
fear, familiarity, or comfort to keep me somewhere
-
when you are calling me forward. Give me discernment.
-
If you are telling me to stay, give me strength
-
to stay. If you are telling me to wait, give
-
me patience to wait. If you are telling me to
-
return, give me humility to return. And if you
-
are telling me to move, give me courage to move.
-
God, teach me the difference between a difficult
-
season I must endure and a completed season I
-
must release. Do not allow temporary discomfort
-
to make me abandon an assignment you are still
-
developing. But do not allow temporary comfort
-
to make me remain where your purpose is calling
-
me to leave. Holy Spirit. direct my steps. God,
-
Israel entered Egypt because Egypt was once a
-
place of preservation, but Egypt was never the
-
promise. So help me understand that something
-
can have been right for yesterday without being
-
right for tomorrow. Teach me to be grateful for
-
what a place has given me without becoming imprisoned
-
by familiarity. If a season has completed its
-
assignment, Give me grace to release it. If a
-
door has closed because you are redirecting me,
-
keep me from continually trying to reopen it.
-
If something that once fit no longer fits because
-
you are developing something new within me, help
-
me recognize the change. And if I am trying to
-
leave before I have learned what this season
-
came to teach me, slow me down. Do not let me
-
escape the classroom before the lesson is complete
-
Lord sometimes I ask you get me out of this But
-
perhaps you are saying let me first get something
-
out of you So refine me here if there is pride
-
in me remove it if there is impatience in me
-
Discipline it if there is fear in me strengthen
-
my faith if I depend too much upon people's approval
-
Bring me back to you. If my priorities have become
-
confused, reorder them. If comfort has weakened
-
my prayer life, awaken me again. If I have wandered,
-
bring me back into obedience. Your word says,
-
before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now
-
I obey your word. So God, do not allow my difficult
-
season to be wasted. If this season makes me
-
pray again, let me pray. If it makes me seek
-
you again, let me seek you. If it makes me reconsider
-
my priorities, reorder my life. If it exposes
-
something that needs to change, change me. If
-
it teaches me something I will need in my next
-
assignment, teach me completely. God, protect
-
me from looking backward when you are calling
-
me forward. I refuse to return to familiar bondage
-
simply because unfamiliar freedom requires faith
-
i refuse to worship comfort i refuse to worship
-
familiarity i refuse to make security more important
-
than obedience my security is in you my future
-
is in you my purpose is in you therefore i declare
-
i will not miss my next season because i am afraid
-
to release the last one i will not move before
-
god i will not remain behind god I will move
-
with God. I declare that every temporary place
-
will produce what God intends to develop in me.
-
The pit will not be wasted. The waiting will
-
not be wasted. The wilderness will not be wasted.
-
The uncomfortable season will not be wasted.
-
I will learn what I need to learn. I will surrender
-
what I need to surrender. I will release what
-
I need to release. And when God says move, I
-
will move. God, order my steps. Sharpen my discernment.
-
Quiet the voice of fear. Break unhealthy attachment
-
to yesterday. Give me wisdom for today and prepare
-
me for tomorrow. If the place is temporary, teach
-
me there. If the season is difficult, refine
-
me there. If the door is closing, direct me.
-
If the road is opening, lead me. I declare. I
-
will not confuse my current location with the
-
conclusion of my story. God is still writing.
-
God is still directing. God is still preparing.
-
God is still repositioning. And whether he tells
-
me to stay, wait, return, or move, I choose obedience
-
over comfort. I am learning. I am moving. I am
-
becoming. I am being refined for a purpose. In
-
the name of Jesus Christ. Amen You are not alone.
