  1. Sharing good news of great joy to all people.

  2. Elation Church. This is week number four and

  3. the final week in our series that we've entitled

  4. The Door. Everybody say The Door. Now, anyone

  5. here, who's here today and you haven't been here

  6. the first, the previous three weeks? Raise your

  7. hand if you haven't been here. So, okay. You

  8. haven't. I don't know. Anyway. The good thing

  9. about our series is we give you enough information

  10. so you're not just lost in the dark, all right?

  11. So we're going to catch you up, but you're going

  12. to have to listen fast. Look to the person beside

  13. you and say, listen fast, because the preacher's

  14. got a lot to say today, so you better listen

  15. fast. And let your face tell me that you're listening

  16. fast, because if your face looks real confused

  17. and real puzzled, I'll keep saying the same thing

  18. in different ways until the majority of you get

  19. it. So that just goes to show you that if the

  20. service goes long, it's your fault, not mine.

  21. I want you to get it. Because we're not here

  22. just doing time, are we? I mean, we set aside

  23. this time to listen to God, to hear from God,

  24. amen? And God wants you to get it. And I want

  25. you to get it. So, week number four in our series

  26. entitled The Door. Each week we've started out

  27. by looking at one verse in the Ephesians 1 prayer

  28. where Paul is praying for the believers in Ephesus.

  29. And he's praying something. I'm adding a few

  30. more verses in this week to add context. I'm

  31. going to read, what, five verses instead of just

  32. one. Ephesians 1, starting with verse 16. Paul

  33. is saying, I pray for you consistently. How many

  34. of you know if Paul is praying something for

  35. the Ephesians, that he's also praying for everybody

  36. else too? It's not just for them. If it was just

  37. for them, we wouldn't have it. Okay? So God has

  38. preserved His Word that this is for us too. It's

  39. not just for them. And he's saying, I pray for

  40. you constantly. Asking God, the glorious Father

  41. of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you something.

  42. To give you spiritual wisdom and insight. We

  43. all need it. We all need it. To give you spiritual

  44. wisdom and insight so that you might grow. In

  45. your knowledge of God. See, we've got to have

  46. spiritual wisdom and insight before we can grow

  47. in our knowledge of God. It's not just hearing

  48. it. It's getting it. Not just hearing it. It's

  49. getting it. I pray that your hearts will be flooded

  50. with light. So that you can understand the confident

  51. hope. The covenant hope He has given to those

  52. He called. His holy people. Who are His rich

  53. and glorious inheritance. That's who you are.

  54. If you're in Christ, this is who you are. Holy.

  55. Set apart for God. Right? And He wants you. To

  56. understand the confident hope. He wants you to

  57. have a confident expectation. Every time that

  58. word hope shows up in the New Testament, it's

  59. the Greek word elpo, and it's translated a confident

  60. expectation that you can go ahead and get happy

  61. about even before you experience it. That's what

  62. that word means. So he wants you to understand

  63. that. The confident hope he has given to those

  64. he called his holy people. who are His rich and

  65. glorious inheritance. And then this is a verse

  66. we've been focusing in on. I also pray that you

  67. will understand something. That you will understand

  68. the incredible greatness of God's power for us.

  69. We're not just understanding this incredible

  70. greatness of God's power. We're also realizing

  71. that it's for us. For us who believe Him. And

  72. what's that power like? How powerful is that

  73. power? Hey, it's the same mighty power that raised

  74. Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place

  75. of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly

  76. realms. That's powerful. Because in that is where

  77. Jesus accomplished everything for us. In his

  78. resurrection. That's where it was all accomplished.

  79. Hello? Some of you are looking puzzled. I might

  80. have to say it more. Looking a little puzzled.

  81. Jesus purchased it on the cross, but if He wouldn't

  82. have raised from the dead, it wouldn't be available

  83. for us. But now that He's raised from the dead,

  84. it's mine. It's mine. Whoo! All right. So we've

  85. been focusing in for this series on Ephesians

  86. 119. I pray, I also pray that you will understand

  87. the incredible greatness of God's power for us.

  88. Who believe in Him. This power, God's power is

  89. for you. Everybody say it's for me. God's power

  90. is for me. Is it just solely for your personal

  91. enjoyment? Well, I want to tell you something.

  92. It should impact your life before it impacts

  93. anybody else's life. It's not going to flow through

  94. you without impacting you. A pipe cannot allow

  95. water to flow through it without getting wet.

  96. God's power is for you. It flows through you

  97. to accomplish God's will in the earth. Remember,

  98. Jesus taught us to pray. God, I want your will

  99. to be done on earth. As it is in heaven. Because

  100. there's so many things going on in this earth.

  101. It's not God's will. It's the product of fallen,

  102. brokenness, sin. See, those things aren't going

  103. to be in heaven. No brokenness is going to be

  104. in heaven, right? So that tells us that brokenness

  105. is not God's will. Are you with me? Some of you

  106. are thinking way too hard. Then we started talking

  107. about the door, because there's a door. Everybody

  108. say, there's a door. Genesis 28, 11 through 13,

  109. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against

  110. and to lay down to sleep. And as he slept, he

  111. had a dream. It was a spiritual dream. It was

  112. a God dream. It wasn't just he had some pizza

  113. right before he went to bed. And had some weird

  114. dreams. This is a God dream. As he slept, he

  115. dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth

  116. up to heaven. You might know it, or have heard

  117. it before, as a ladder. Everybody say, Jacob's

  118. ladder. That's where we get that from. From this

  119. text. He slept and he dreamed of a stairway,

  120. a ladder that reads from earth up to heaven.

  121. And he saw something. Angels of God going up

  122. and down the stairway, up and down the ladder.

  123. So we see that something is happening. There's

  124. a door in heaven and then there's... There's

  125. activity happening from heaven to the earth and

  126. from the earth back to heaven. These are his

  127. messengers. These are his workers. Angels of

  128. God going up and down the stairway. At the top

  129. of the stairway stood the Lord. Then Jacob woke

  130. up. He woke up from his sleep and he said, Surely

  131. the Lord is in this place. Surely the Lord is

  132. in this place. What an awesome place. Anywhere

  133. the Lord is is an awesome place. What an awesome

  134. place this is. It is none other than the house

  135. of God, the very gateway to heaven. House of

  136. God. Everybody say house of God. Everybody say

  137. gateway to heaven. Now, house of God, here's

  138. the Hebrew word. It can be translated and has

  139. been translated house, household, temple, or

  140. dwelling. House of God. Temple of God. Dwelling

  141. of God. And the gate, the gateway, here's the

  142. Hebrew word for that. And it's translated as,

  143. in English, an opening, a gate. Or a door. Everybody

  144. say a door. A door between heaven and earth.

  145. Between spiritual realms and natural realms.

  146. There is a door. There's a door. Here's some

  147. more verses to help you out. Then as I looked,

  148. I saw a door. Everybody say a door. Standing

  149. open in heaven. And instantly I was in the spirit.

  150. And saw the throne in heaven and someone, God,

  151. sitting on it. So there was a door. When God

  152. said to John, come up here, I want to show you

  153. something. He showed him a door. And inside that

  154. door was the temple. It was the throne room of

  155. eternity he was looking into. The house of God.

  156. Heaven. The throne room. Everybody say door.

  157. Everybody say heaven. Everybody say spiritual

  158. realm. See what he saw. He moved from natural

  159. to seeing spiritual. His eyes were open. Here's

  160. another one. Jesus talking to a church. He says,

  161. look, I stand at the door and knock. Everybody

  162. say a door. So Jesus is saying, look, there's

  163. a door, and it's between me and you, and I'm

  164. knocking, and I want you to open up that door

  165. and let me come in, and I will come in. If you

  166. will open up the door, I will come in. We will

  167. share a meal together as friends. Everybody say

  168. a door. So where is God? Look at the person beside

  169. you and say, where is God? 1 Corinthians 3 .16

  170. Do you not know that you are the temple of God?

  171. And that the Spirit of God dwells in you? God

  172. is in heaven. He's still in the throne room of

  173. eternity. But He's also In you. If you're in

  174. Christ, he's in you. We're in him, he's in us.

  175. Right? So wherever the spirit and the spirit

  176. realm is, there is a door of opportunity for

  177. us. There's a door. Of opportunity. Have you

  178. ever gone through a phase where, you know, you

  179. know the Holy Spirit's in you, but you didn't

  180. recognize Him. You didn't honor Him. You didn't

  181. communicate with Him. Right? He's there. He doesn't

  182. leave and come back and leave and come back.

  183. He's there. But you only have fellowship with

  184. Him and encounter. the spiritual realm when you

  185. acknowledge Him. That's when you're going to

  186. experience it. So God is in heaven. We've looked

  187. at those verses. God is in us. And I want to

  188. tell you something today. God is eagerly waiting

  189. on you to open your door to Him so His power

  190. can flow through you. I think that's worth saying

  191. again. Even though you can read it. I'm going

  192. to say it again. God is in heaven and God is

  193. in you and God is eagerly waiting on you. You've

  194. got to open the door. He's waiting on you to

  195. open the door to Him so His power can flow through

  196. you. And when His power flows through you, it's

  197. flowing for you and it's flowing to accomplish

  198. His will in the earth. But you have to open the

  199. door. Here's some illustration of what we're

  200. talking about. Matthew 16, verses 13 through

    Matthew 16:13–19

  201. 19. When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea

  202. Philippi, He asked His disciples something. He

  203. asked them, He said, Who do men say that I, the

  204. Son of Man, am? What's the word on the street?

  205. What are people saying about me? How are they

  206. identifying me? So the disciples began to say

  207. what they had heard, right? Some say John the

  208. Baptist. Some say Elijah. Others, Jeremiah. Or

  209. one of the other prophets. And then Jesus looked

  210. at them and said, but who do you say that I am?

  211. Who do you say that I am? I mean, I've been spending

  212. time with you. You should know me better than

  213. everybody else. We've been spending a lot of

  214. time together. Who do you say that I am? Simon

  215. Peter answered and said, boy, he was known for

  216. sticking his foot in his mouth, but he did good

  217. on this one. Simon Peter answered and said, you

  218. are the Christ, the anointed one, the empowered

  219. one. That's what Christ means. You are the empowered

  220. one, the anointed one. You are the son of the

  221. living God. You're Christ. I know that made Jesus

  222. smile. He just went... In the back of his mind,

  223. he's going, Peter, you said some stupid things,

  224. but... That's good right there. Jesus answered

  225. and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar -Jonah,

  226. for flesh and blood has not revealed this to

  227. you, but my Father who is in heaven. Everybody

  228. say revelation. This was revelation. It didn't

  229. come out of Peter's peanut brain. Here's what

  230. happened. Peter opened the door. Everybody say

  231. the door. Here's what just happened. Peter opened

  232. the door to the spirit realm and received revelation

  233. from God, and then he said it. Flesh and blood

  234. has not revealed this to you, but my Father who

  235. is in heaven. And I also say that you are Peter,

  236. and on this rock I will build my church, and

  237. the gates of Hades shall not prevail against

  238. it. I saw something this week that we haven't

  239. even saw before. Wait a minute. There's gates.

  240. Everybody say gates. There's doors. Everybody

  241. say doors. So there's a door to God's realm,

  242. the spirit realm, but there are also doors of

  243. hell. of demonic. There's also doors to the demonic

  244. and doors to the satanic. And Jesus said, on

  245. this rock, on this revelation of who Jesus is,

  246. that He is the Christ, the Son of the living

  247. God, on this revelation, the mode in which He

  248. received it, by opening His door to the spirit

  249. realm, come on somebody, By opening His door

  250. and receiving revelation from God, the Father,

  251. the Spirit realm, into this earth and speaking

  252. it out. But there are also other people who are

  253. opening up their doors for the purpose of letting

  254. satanic power flow through. But here's the deal.

  255. That will not prevail. It's not like we're in

  256. a close fight, people. We're not in a close fight.

  257. It will not prevail against revelation from God,

  258. from His power. There's no question who wins.

  259. As a matter of fact, Jesus kicked out his teeth

  260. on the cross. He's just a roaring lion now. He

  261. can't even bite you. All he can do is gum you

  262. a little bit. He can mess with batteries, but

  263. he can't. Jeffrey talked to me about changing

  264. the batteries. I said, I don't know. It had a

  265. full bar, so we'll just go with it. So, the gates

  266. that are open from the satanic, demonic realm

  267. for their power to flow through, it will not,

  268. cannot prevail against you when your door is

  269. open to God. Peter's door is open to God's power.

  270. He spoke divine revelation in agreement with

  271. God's will and God's plan. Because that's why

  272. Jesus came. He is the Messiah. When he's saying

  273. the word Christ, I mean, he's basically saying,

  274. I believe that you're the Messiah. You're the

  275. Christ. You're the empowered one. You're the

  276. anointing one from God. You're the Son of God.

  277. That was a powerful statement. Where the spirit

  278. realm, Paul... Peter had opened his door to the

  279. spirit realm and then that flowed through. Look

  280. at the person beside you and tell them it can

  281. happen to you just like that. It can happen in

  282. your life just like that. Let's keep going with

  283. the story. Jesus said, I'll give you the keys.

  284. Of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you bind

  285. on earth will be bound in heaven. Whatever you

  286. loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. How

  287. does that happen? By the door being open. You're

  288. binding and you're loosing. God is giving us

  289. the keys. That's the method, the ability, the

  290. authority to open or close the door. That's what

  291. keys do, right? And if you don't have the key,

  292. you can't open it and you can't lock it. You've

  293. got to have the key. Jesus has given the keys.

  294. He's given you the keys to the door, the authority,

  295. the ability to open or close the door of spiritual

  296. influence in the earth, and He lets you decide.

  297. He lets you decide. Keep going. This is just

  298. a few minutes later, right? Everybody just say

  299. a few minutes. A few minutes. From that time,

  300. Jesus began to show his disciples that he must

  301. go to Jerusalem, suffer many things from the

  302. elders and chief priests and scribes, and be

  303. killed and be raised again on the third day.

  304. Saint Peter. Everybody say Saint Peter. St. Peter.

  305. Then Peter said, hey, Jesus, come here. I got

  306. to talk to you about something. I ain't going

  307. to let this happen. What you talking about? You're

  308. going to go to Jerusalem. Be crucified. You're

  309. going to be killed. Not on my watch, Jesus. Peter

  310. took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Jesus. Hello?

  311. Far be it from you, Lord, this shall not happen

  312. to you. Now, wait a minute. What was the will

  313. and the plan of God? Come on, stay with me. What

  314. was the will and the plan of God? For Jesus,

  315. He came to die on the cross, right? He came to

  316. lay down His life. That's the plan and the will

  317. of God that Jesus is telling them about. And

  318. then Peter goes, Nuh -uh. You think that's good?

  319. For Peter to speak against the plan and the will

  320. of God? Where does that come from? What door

  321. is open? Well, Jesus is going to flat out tell

  322. him what door is open. Jesus turned and said

  323. to Peter, get behind me, Satan. Peter didn't

  324. turn to Satan, did he? I mean, he didn't like

  325. the Lord. No, but he opened up the door. He opened

  326. up his door. Jesus said, get behind me, Satan.

  327. You're an offense to me. That's a... That's a

  328. door open to the power and authority of hell.

  329. And you've got to get behind me. You're not going

  330. to stand against the plan and the will of God.

  331. Get behind me, Satan. You're an offense to me.

  332. So now Peter's door is open to Satan's power.

  333. Just a few minutes after it was open, and you

  334. know what? Same thing can happen in our lives.

  335. It's up to us. We can open the door. By the way,

  336. the door is your mind. Everybody say your mind.

  337. That's what the door is. You can open the door

  338. to God and the spirit realm and receive revelation

  339. from God or You can open the door to things that

  340. are against God, against His plan, against His

  341. will. That's good preaching right there. Anyway,

  342. why did this happen? Jesus even explained why

  343. it happened. He said, you know what? Here's the

  344. problem, Peter. You're not mindful of the things

  345. of God. That's the problem. That's why you just

  346. said what you said, because you're not mindful

  347. of the things of God, but the things of men.

  348. That word mindful, here's the Greek word, it

  349. means to think, it means to set your mind on,

  350. to have that kind of mindset. His mindset changed

  351. very quickly. Like Peter. What you are mindful

  352. of determines what influence the door of your

  353. mind is open to. Happens the same way in us as

  354. it happens in him. What are you mindful of? Your

  355. mind is a door to spiritual power. Now, we've

  356. talked about two things. We talked about our

  357. mind being the door, and then we talked about

  358. how to transform our mind or renew our mind.

  359. And that happens through focus, and it happens

  360. through your imagination. The object of your

  361. focus, the object of your imagination, opens

  362. the door of your mind to one of two spiritual

  363. flows. And these are the main categories of spiritual

  364. flow. Life and blessing or death and cursing.

  365. See? Everybody look at me. If we can get a hold

  366. of this truth, It'll change our lives. See, I

  367. don't want you to just get it today. Just today

  368. and hold on to it for a few minutes. I mean,

  369. this will change your life. Your life will look

  370. different tomorrow if you can get a hold of this.

  371. It'll look different this afternoon. If you'll

  372. get a hold of this, your life will look different.

  373. I'm not talking about theory. Just something

  374. to give to increase your intellect. If you'll

  375. receive this, it'll change your life. The object

  376. of your focus and imagination, that's what opens

  377. the door. That's what opens your mind, your focus

  378. and your imagination. And it's going to open

  379. it to one of two spiritual flows. I'm going to

  380. give you some verses to support what I just said.

  381. Romans 8 and 6. For to be carnally minded, fleshly

  382. minded, earthly minded. That's the Greek word,

  383. sarx. It's translated all those ways. To be a

  384. meathead. Thank you for laughing. To be carnally

  385. minded, fleshly minded, earthly minded, or merely

  386. of human origin or empowerment minded is death.

  387. But to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

  388. Everybody say focus. Everybody say imagination.

  389. Because what we focus on is going to turn into

  390. imagination. It's going to turn into a mental

  391. picture of a future probability of what we are

  392. expecting. Deuteronomy 30, 19. God tells His

  393. people, I've set before you life and death, blessing

  394. and cursing. He says, choose life. What if your

  395. teacher at school, what if they gave you a question

  396. and then they gave you the answer? You'd be,

  397. something would be wrong if you picked the wrong

  398. answer when the teacher just told you what the

  399. right answer was. Bless their little hearts.

  400. I have set before you. It's set before you. It

  401. is set before you. Life and blessing, death and

  402. cursing, it's always set before you. And God

  403. says, I want you to choose life. I want you to

  404. choose life. I've done so much for you. To make

  405. it possible for you to choose life and blessing.

  406. I've done so much. But he says, but if you want

  407. to choose death and cursing, that's up to you.

  408. I'm going to respect your decision. I sure do

  409. want you to choose life and blessing. What about

  410. Jeremiah 29, 11? How many of you have memorized

  411. this verse? A time or two. For I know the plans

  412. I have for you, says the Lord. Do you know God

  413. has a plan and a will for you? I know the plans

  414. I have for you, says the Lord. They're plans

  415. for good. Everybody say good. Not for disaster.

  416. To give you a future and a hope. That's God's

  417. plan for you. That's God's will for you. It's

  418. for good. Everybody say good. I don't know. It's

  419. been about a year ago, maybe a year and a half

  420. ago. I looked up that word good. That's translated

  421. good. And guess what I found? I mean, I'm ashamed

  422. to say because I've been preaching for a long

  423. time, but I never actually looked up the Hebrew

  424. word right there. But the Hebrew word there is

  425. shalom. My plan and my will for you. is wrapped

  426. up in who I am because I am Yahweh's shalom.

  427. I am the Lord your peace, and my plan for you

  428. is peace. So if you're not experiencing peace,

  429. you're not in the flow of the plan and the will

  430. of God because your door's open to somebody else.

  431. We're just going to talk when a rubber hits the

  432. road, but that's the way this works. I'm not

  433. going to namby -pamby around. I'm going to tell

  434. you. God's plan and will for you is shalom. It's

  435. for your safety. It's for your well -being. It's

  436. even for your happiness. Choke on that a second.

  437. God wants you happy. I can't tell you how many

  438. preachers have said, God ain't concerned about

  439. your happiness. He's just concerned about your

  440. holiness. He's concerned about both. He wants

  441. you to be happy and holy at the same time. He

  442. don't want his children to walk around and look

  443. like their mama raised them on lime juice in

  444. the bottle. That's not his plan and his will.

  445. God's plan for you is good. His will for you

  446. is good. It's for your safety. It's for your

  447. well -being. It's for your happiness. And then

  448. it even is translated friendly. It's for your

  449. welfare. It's for your health. It's for your

  450. prosperity. It's for your peace. Prosperity is

  451. bigger than stuff and money. It's so much bigger

  452. than that. Because there's a lot of people with

  453. a lot of stuff and a lot of money that they don't

  454. have peace. Commit suicide, don't have peace.

  455. God's not against you. having things either.

  456. I have to say this because I talk to different

  457. people. I mean, if David was a man after God's

  458. own heart, and he gave an offering one day for

  459. the temple, personal money, not the nation's

  460. money, his personal wealth, he gave billions

  461. in one offering. But he's a man after God's own

  462. heart. So God's not against you having some stuff,

  463. some nice stuff. But just having stuff is not

  464. prosperity. Not according to the Word of God.

  465. It's got to be with peace before it's prosperity.

  466. Abraham, Solomon, take your choice. John 10 .10.

  467. I want you to think about this. has a door being

  468. opened into your life. You allowing a door to

  469. be opened. The thief comes, if he gets through

  470. the door, he's coming to steal, to kill, and

  471. destroy. But, if our door is open to Jesus and

  472. to God and the Holy Spirit, He says, I've come

  473. that you may have life and that you may have

  474. it to the fullest, more abundantly. Everybody

  475. say, life and blessing, death and cursing. Old

  476. Testament, New Testament. I mean, it flows straight

  477. through. Listen, God's will and God's plan is

  478. discovered in His words. And His Word establishes

  479. something. I hope I proved it to you. There are

  480. so many more verses that I can give you if you

  481. don't believe what I just told you. But His Word

  482. establishes that His will for you is life and

  483. blessing. Life and blessing. God wants life and

  484. blessing for you. But like I said, He will respect

  485. your choices. Romans 12, 2 tells us this, and

  486. do not be conformed to this world. Don't let

  487. this world smash you into a mold. Do not be conformed

  488. to this world, but be transformed. How are we

  489. transformed? By the renewing of our mind. That

  490. word transform, transform, change form. I want

  491. you to see it as this. God's power flowing in

  492. you and through you to change temporal things.

  493. Because everything natural is temporal. Everything

  494. spiritual is eternal. So how do we renew our

  495. minds? Colossians 3, 1 and 2. If then you were

  496. raised with Christ, who's been raised with Christ?

  497. If you've been raised with Christ, then you need

  498. to focus. You need to seek things which are above

  499. where Christ is. Seated at the right hand of

  500. God. We're supposed to live our lives from being

  501. seated with Christ in heavenly places instead

  502. of thinking, well, one day I might get there.

  503. In Ephesians, it says, we are seated with Christ.

  504. Now, we're seated with Christ in heavenly places.

  505. And it's like, no, I'm not. I'm standing here

  506. in the gymnasium in Davenport. But positionally,

  507. spiritually, I'm seated with Christ. And we're

  508. supposed to live our lives from the flow of heaven.

  509. If then you were raised with Christ, seek those

  510. things which are above where Christ is. Sitting

  511. at the right hand of God. What are we supposed

  512. to do? Set our mind. You're in charge of what

  513. your mind is set on. And in this series, we've

  514. talked about something. Thought birds are always

  515. flying. Everybody say, thoughts, birds. Just

  516. picture thoughts as birds. How many of you, all

  517. of a sudden you think something, and you're like,

  518. where did that come from? Where did that thought

  519. come from? All of a sudden, just thought flies

  520. by. Listen, we can't control what birds, what

  521. type of birds fly around our head. But we can

  522. control which one builds a nest in our hair.

  523. So we've talked about it in this series. You

  524. take each thought captive to the obedience of

  525. Christ. That's what the Bible says. If that thought,

  526. picture it as a bird, if that thought wants to

  527. land in your mind, to build a nest in your hair,

  528. to establish... This is what you need to be established

  529. in, basically, if it's building a nest in your

  530. hair. And it's not from God. It doesn't line

  531. up with the plan and the will of God. This thought

  532. that's all of a sudden wanting to build a...

  533. This bird that wants to build a nest in your

  534. head, you're supposed to smack it down. Not today.

  535. Because you can't control the thoughts, but you

  536. can control what you focus on. You can't control

  537. what you meditate on. And if you let it build

  538. a nest in your hair, that's what you're going

  539. to be focusing on, what you're going to be meditating

  540. on. And I'm speaking from experience. Because

  541. I'm no different than you are. A preacher isn't

  542. different than you. I have thoughts. I have thoughts

  543. flying around my head too. I've got to choose

  544. which one builds a nest in my hair. You do too.

  545. I haven't perfected this. I'm just on the same

  546. journey that you're on. But I'm standing here

  547. on the authority of God's Word and telling you

  548. that if you want the flow of God in your life,

  549. the power of God in your life to transform your

  550. temporary circumstances, you've got to open the

  551. door to Him. And close the door that wants to

  552. bring death and cursing and destruction to your

  553. life. You've got to close it. I can't close it

  554. for you. I can only close it for me. I can't

  555. even close it for my wife. She can't close it

  556. for me. It's up to you. Focus is a key contributor

  557. to renewing your mind. Imagination is also. I

  558. thought that was the next slide, so I said it

  559. and then the next slide came up. So focus is

  560. a key contributor to renewing your mind. And

  561. here's what you've got to do. You've got to refuse

  562. to focus on any thought or any temporal condition

  563. that does not agree with who God is or your position

  564. in Christ. Or what has been provided for you

  565. in Christ. You've got to refuse any focus that's

  566. against those things. That's how you walk by

  567. faith and not by sight. I mean, we sing it in

  568. the song. But you're in charge of your focus.

  569. Are you going to focus on what you see? The temporary

  570. condition that you might be going through, is

  571. that what you're going to focus on? Are you going

  572. to focus on the promise of God and who God is

  573. and what He has made available to you and who

  574. you are in Him? That's what you've got to focus

  575. on. Imagination is a key contributor. You have

  576. to direct your imagination. To see future probabilities

  577. in agreement with who God is. Your position in

  578. Christ. What you have in Christ. You've got to

  579. see it. You've got to see it in your imagination

  580. before you're going to see it in your life. I

  581. need to say that again because y 'all are looking

  582. at me like, what in the world did he just say?

  583. You've got to see it. before you see it. The

  584. door has to be open to imagining the future probabilities

  585. in your life that are now aligned, not like the

  586. way you see them right now with your natural

  587. eyes, but you've got to see them. aligned to

  588. who God is, what God has promised, who you are

  589. in Christ, what He has made available to you

  590. in Christ, that's what you've got to see in your

  591. mind's eye. Because as long as you keep seeing

  592. and imagining death, cursing, destruction, as

  593. long as you keep imagining that, that's going

  594. to continue to be the focus and that's going

  595. to open the door. for that reality, the power

  596. of that reality to come into your life. And you

  597. might say, I don't want this much responsibility.

  598. I just want God to zap it. Just zap me and change

  599. my focus and change my imagination. No, He gives

  600. us His Word. Hallelujah. Whatever you're seeing

  601. today, Whatever you're feeling today is subject

  602. to change because it's temporal. And we want,

  603. I hope you want, the power of God to flow through,

  604. the same power that raised Jesus from the dead,

  605. flow through to change this temporal. By the

  606. power of His eternal. Oh God, help us get it.

  607. And all that was just like... Now we're going

  608. to talk about new stuff. I mean, some of this

  609. has been new, right? But here's the other contributors.

  610. There's one more contributor. Everybody say one

  611. more. One more contributor. Beyond focus, beyond

  612. imagination. And you might not see words as being

  613. a part of a renewed mind, of renewing your mind,

  614. but I want you to see it differently today. Because

  615. your words, the words out of your mouth, are

  616. key contributors to renewing your mind. Proverbs

  617. 18, 21. Everybody say, death and cursing. Death

  618. and cursing, life and blessing. Oh, look, here's

  619. another verse. The tongue can bring death or

  620. life. Those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

  621. I think I need to read it again. The tongue can

  622. bring. We can look at it this way according to

  623. the series. The tongue can open the door. The

  624. tongue can open the door of your mind to bring

  625. death or life. And those who love to talk will

  626. reap. You don't say might reap. It says we'll

  627. reap the consequences. Boy, y 'all got quiet.

  628. You must not love to talk at the moment. This

  629. works both ways, you know. If you love to talk

  630. about life and blessing and the promises of God,

  631. guess what you're going to reap? Everybody say

  632. life and blessing. If that's what you love to

  633. talk about, the faithfulness of God, the goodness

  634. of God, the promises of God, the provisions of

  635. God, that's what we need to be talking about.

  636. Because if we talk about that, we're going to

  637. see life and blessing. But so many times we want

  638. to talk about what we feel. We want to talk about

  639. what we see. Hello? I'm just like you. But I

  640. want to grow. Does anybody want to grow? I want

  641. to grow. I don't want to be talking about death

  642. and cursing and loss and lack. I won't be talking

  643. about that all the time. Even if I see it, I

  644. don't want to talk about it. I want to talk about

  645. life and blessing. Because whatever we talk about,

  646. Is the Bible true or is the Bible true? Whatever

  647. we talk about the most is what we're going to

  648. reap. And we can sit back and we can blame situations,

  649. we can blame people for what we're experiencing.

  650. But if you want to know what's responsible for

  651. what you're experiencing, go in your bathroom

  652. when you get home, look at yourself in the mirror,

  653. and go. Say, God, why does it seem like I'm experiencing

  654. death and cursing instead of life and blessing?

  655. And then go. And that's your answer. That's what

  656. the Bible says. Your tongue is like a bit in

  657. a horse's mouth. It's like a rudder on a ship.

  658. And it is steering your life towards what you're

  659. talking about. I love you. That's why I'm preaching

  660. hard. Because I don't want anything except for

  661. you to experience in the life and the blessing

  662. of God. It's available. I mean, let's go back

  663. to our story. What's the final step in Peter

  664. releasing this spiritual power through the open

  665. door of his mind? What was the last step in both

  666. instances? Words. You're the Christ, the Son

  667. of the living God. There's the flow. Far be it

  668. from you, Lord. This shall not happen to you.

  669. There's the flow. Hello? And then in week number

  670. two, I focus on this story. But what example

  671. did Jesus give to describe Wrong focus and imagination.

  672. Everybody say, birds and flowers. Birds and flowers.

  673. But pay close attention. Jesus says, don't worry

  674. about these things, and it's not just a head

  675. situation, is it? I don't know, you've probably

  676. read this a thousand times like I have, but all

  677. of a sudden I was reading it, and I was like,

  678. wait a minute. Don't worry about these things

  679. saying. Everybody say words. Don't worry about

  680. these things saying. What will we eat? What will

  681. we drink? What will we wear? These things, listen,

  682. dominate the thoughts of unbelievers. That's

  683. what unbelievers say. That's what unbelievers

  684. set their mind on. And sometimes I look at, I

  685. don't want to be an unbeliever. I don't want

  686. my mind set. I don't want my focus and my imagination

  687. set the way that unbelievers, because I'm a believer.

  688. Somebody smile. Even though it hurts a little

  689. bit, just go ahead and smile. You know, it makes

  690. you feel better if you smile, even when it's

  691. hurting a little bit. Your Heavenly Father already

  692. knows. Listen, the things you say, I'm about

  693. done. I know it don't seem like I'm about done,

  694. but I'm about done. Hold on. The things you say

  695. are important to renew in your mind. Because

  696. your tongue is connected to your brain. Captain

  697. Obvious right there. Your tongue is connected

  698. to your brain. And I want to tell you this. As

  699. I was studying and as I was preparing, I was

  700. like, I believe this is from God. What you hear

  701. from you has more impact over your life than

  702. what you hear from others. So what are you hearing

  703. from you? I mean, we don't want other people

  704. to say things bad to us or around us, but what

  705. you hear from you is going to have more impact

  706. on your life than what you hear from other people.

  707. Words open the door for the spiritual to transform

  708. the temporal. Everybody say words. Proverbs 21,

  709. 23. Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut.

  710. And you will stay out of trouble. That's what

  711. the Bible says. Watch your tongue and keep your

  712. mouth shut. Hey. If you're not going to speak

  713. in line with the plans and will of God for your

  714. life, it's better to say nothing. Because a lot

  715. of the trouble in our lives comes from the words

  716. we have said. Because we're reaping what we sowed,

  717. and what we sowed was words. Speaking truth from

  718. the Word of God in alignment with the will of

  719. God and the purposes of God. Listen, that directs

  720. and strengthens your mind's focus. It's part

  721. of renewing the mind. It's not just saying words.

  722. It's renewing your mind. Because when you speak

  723. truth from the Word of God in alignment with

  724. the will and the plans of God, life and blessing,

  725. that directs your focus. That directs your imagination.

  726. It gives substance. It gives something for you

  727. to focus on. It gives focus on something for

  728. you to imagine. It gives substance to that. Because

  729. you're not just creating some fantasy in your

  730. mind. Your imagination that you are directing,

  731. you can use your words to build the picture of

  732. the future probability of God's plan and will

  733. being fulfilled in your life. Life and blessing.

  734. Your words give substance to that when they're

  735. in a line with the plan and will of God and His

  736. purposes. So, that don't make sense, but I know

  737. what I meant to type. Sometimes I change the

  738. way I present it and I forget to delete stuff.

  739. Listen, you can use your words. To capture thoughts.

  740. You can also use your words to change thoughts.

  741. I talked about taking each thought captive to

  742. the obedience of Christ. When that bird flies

  743. and all of a sudden you're hearing something

  744. that's opening up the wrong door, you know what?

  745. Don't just try to fight that battle in your mind.

  746. Speak against it. In line with the will and the

  747. plans of God. Darkness, you're not going to take

  748. me down this time. I'm not going down that road

  749. again. Do you mind if I share just what you shared?

  750. Is that going to embarrass you? Do you mind if

  751. I share? You're in the hospital. And all of a

  752. sudden, you were having hallucinations. And then

  753. you said, no, God, take these away. I know this

  754. is not supposed to be the imagination of my mind.

  755. It's in a place it don't need to be. And you

  756. look to God to take it away and you haven't had

  757. one since. Right? She shared that with me on

  758. Thursday. But I'm telling you, this is real.

  759. What I'm telling you is real. I'm not going there

  760. anymore. Because this is what God says about

  761. me. This is what God wants for me. God wants

  762. life and blessing for me. His Word is very clear

  763. that that is His will and His plans. So I take

  764. that thought captive. I take that imagination

  765. captive. I even stop my words and take those

  766. words captive to the obedience of Christ. I've

  767. got to quit preaching. I told you I was about

  768. done. Works two ways. And I'm not talking about

  769. negative and positive. I'm talking it works two

  770. ways positive. You can speak words to build and

  771. reinforce positive focus and imagination. And

  772. you can speak to capture and redirect wrong focus

  773. and imagination. So we need to be building. Our

  774. focus and our imaginations with our words according

  775. to God's plan and will, life and blessing. And

  776. then if we have a focus or a thought or an imagination

  777. that's death and cursing, then we need to speak

  778. to capture it and redirect it. Keep your words.

  779. In agreement with who God is. You've got to know

  780. who God is. You can get on the podcast. We did

  781. a whole series on the names that God gave us

  782. to tell us who He is and what He wants to do

  783. in our lives. Get on the podcast if you don't

  784. know who God is. Or just Google it. You can get

  785. a lot of verses and explanation on who He is.

  786. How you can put your trust in Him. You have to

  787. put your trust in Him in order to experience

  788. who He is. Keep your words in agreement with

  789. who He is. Keep your words in agreement with

  790. who you are in Christ. Keep your words in agreement

  791. with what you have in Christ. Keep your words

  792. in agreement with that. It helps to renew your

  793. mind. Your mind is the doorway. This is our concluding

  794. statement for the whole series. Your mind is

  795. the doorway that spiritual power flows through.

  796. It's your mind. Keep it closed to the flow of

  797. death and cursing. Keep it closed. Just like

  798. Peter should have kept it closed, he shouldn't

  799. have said, far be it from you that this would

  800. happen. You've got to close that one. Keep it

  801. closed to the flow of death and cursing. Keep

  802. it closed to anything that's against the plans

  803. and the will of God. And keep it open. Look to

  804. the person beside you and say, keep it open.

  805. Keep it open to the flow of life and peace. Keep

  806. it open. And how are you going to keep it open?

  807. How are you going to keep it closed? Same three

  808. ways. By your focus. By what you set your mind

  809. on. By what you meditate on. You're going to

  810. keep it open or closed by your imagination of

  811. future probabilities, where your life is going

  812. from today to tomorrow. And you're going to keep

  813. it open or closed by the words that come out

  814. of your mouth. This online worship experience

  815. was brought to you by the friends and partners

  816. of Elation Church.
