  6. each other through the power of God's Love and God's Word.

  7. In just a little while, we're going to tell you

  8. how to get the Lord's Prayer Words of Hope and

  9. Happiness gift book. This life giving resource will help you

  10. strengthen the hope of the children you love by introducing

  11. them to the Lord's Prayer. Go to Pastorick dot com

  13. eight hundred, six hundred five thousand and four. That's Pastorick

  14. dot com. Or the word Daily to eight hundred six

  15. hundred five thousand and four. Right now, here's Pastor Rick

  16. with the final part of a message called the Prayer

  17. of Dependence.

  18. I once did a study on VH one and on

  19. the Rolling Stone magazine the top five hundred love songs,

  20. and I went through the list, and about half of

  21. them aren't even love songs. They're lost songs. You gotta

  22. give it to me, Give it to me now. I

  23. want it. I gotta have it, And if you don't

  24. give it, I'm gonna take it. Rock on. You see,

  25. I'm really just a frustrated rock star. I know that's

  26. not a love song. Hey tell you that, But you

  27. know we're gonna party all night and you're gonna give it,

  28. give it, give it, give it, give it to me.

  29. That is a lust song. Has nothing to do with

  30. the other person, has all to do without meeting your needs. Now,

  31. God says, I want you to learn to love, and

  32. love is all about sharing. Give us today our daily bread. Now.

  33. God wants you to learn to trust him. And one

  34. of the ways you learn to trust him is by sharing.

  35. You see, God is testing you every day of your life.

  36. God puts you on this planet and the entire time

  37. you're on this planet, God is testing you to see

  38. your reaction, and he's testing you in many different ways.

  39. But one of the things he's testing you for is

  40. how much will you trust God? How much will you

  41. depend on God? And the number one way God trust

  42. tests your faith. You know what it is, money finances.

  43. It's the number one way God tests are you gonna worry.

  44. Are you gonna trust me? Are you gonna worry about

  45. your finances or are you gonna trust me? Are you

  46. gonna be stingy? Are you gonna share? Are you gonna

  47. hold on and hoard because you're afraid you're not gonna

  48. get anymore? Are you gonna be open and generous with

  49. people around you who are in need? God is testing you.

  50. He wants you to learn to be like him. Now.

  51. The problem is the more money you've got. I hate

  52. to tell you this, but it's true. The less you

  53. depend on God. You see, you don't depend on God

  54. when you can just go charge it. You don't ever

  55. pray about it, You just go buy it. You got

  56. a big bank account. The more money you've got, the

  57. less you depend on God. You depend on your bank account,

  58. you depend on your checkbook, you depend on your investments.

  59. It's why the Bible says it is more difficult for

  60. a rich man to get into Heaven than for a

  61. camel to go through an eye of a needle. Why

  62. does he say that because money is bad? No, not

  63. at all. Some of the greatest saints in history were

  64. quite wealthy. Why is it because the more money you

  65. have the less you tend to depend on God, you

  66. tend to depend on your bank account. That's why the

  67. Bible says that the poor God has chosen to be

  68. rich in faith. Why because you don't know God's all

  69. you need t God's all you got. The greatest people

  70. of faith that I've met in life, none of them

  71. live in America. None of them. Because when you don't

  72. have anything, you're dirt poor. You don't have a house,

  73. you don't have clothes, you don't have food. You're dependent

  74. on God for your daily bread. We not at that

  75. level of dependence. And yet God says, I want you

  76. and to trust me, and I'm testing you to see

  77. how much you'll depend on me. And I'm testing to

  78. see whether you will share. I supply to you. Three

  79. things you need to remember. Number one, what God gives

  80. to me, he wants to give through me. Very important principle.

  81. I had to learn this many years ago and it

  82. changed my life. Whatever God gives to me, he wants

  83. to give through me. God is looking for people that

  84. he can bless the world with. And he looks around

  85. and said, will you be a cup or will you

  86. be a straw? If you're a cup, you just give

  87. us this day or day to bread, and you fill

  88. up my cup and that's it, and I'm going to

  89. keep it all. But if you'll say, God, I'll be

  90. a straw and you can channel through me to other

  91. people blessing, physical materials, special blessing. God says, that's the

  92. kind of person I want to bless. My life is

  93. an example of that truth that the more you give

  94. in your life, whatever you give in your life, the

  95. more God blesses you and blesses you. Because the more

  96. you care about other people, the more God cares. He says,

  97. whatever I give to you, I want to give through you. Now,

  98. let me give you an example of this. Look up

  99. here on the screen. Very important verse tewod Corinthians, chapter nine.

  100. God who supplies seed for the sower. That means the

  101. farmer who's out sowing seed. God who supplies seed for

  102. the farmer and bread to eat. Notice that God says,

  103. I don't want to just give you daily bread. I

  104. want to give you daily seed. I'm going to give

  105. you enough that you can eat it bread to eat,

  106. but I'm also going to give you more than enough

  107. so that you can plant some of it. I'm gonna

  108. give you more than enough, so you have bread to

  109. eat yourself. But you also can use some of it

  110. to give away, and you can use some of it

  111. to invest, and you can use some of it as seed.

  112. I'm not just gonna give you bread. I'm gonna give

  113. you seed. God who supplies seed for the sower and

  114. bread to eat, will also supply you with all the

  115. seed you need, and he will make it grow. This

  116. is amazing promise, and he will make it grow, and

  117. he will produce a rich harvest from your What generosity

  118. this whole promise is built on. Are you willing to

  119. share what He supplies with you? Are you willing to

  120. pass on the blessing others that God blesses you with.

  121. He'll make it grow and produce a rich harvest from

  122. your generosity. He will always make you rich enough to

  123. be generous at all times. He said, Wait a minute,

  124. I'm not rich enough to be generous. Oh, yes, you are.

  125. No matter how much you've got, you can be generous.

  126. There's the story of a Bible a woman in the

  127. Bible who only had two pennies, and yet she gave

  128. him away. You can always give something. It's a myth

  129. that you, oh I don't have enough to give. You

  130. can always give something. And God is testing you. He says,

  131. a rich harvest for a generalisity. He will make you

  132. rich enough to be generous at all times, so that

  133. many will give thanks for your gifts the people you help,

  134. the poor, your neighbors, your friends, whoever. And he says,

  135. this service you perform, in other words, being generous with

  136. what God has given you. This service you perform will

  137. not only meet the needs of God's people, but will

  138. also produce an outpouring of gratitude to God. And he

  139. says this when you're going through a tough time and

  140. you say, God, I don't have much, but whatever I've got,

  141. I'm willing to share it. I only got a little

  142. food here, but I'm willing to invite somebody over for dinner.

  143. I'm willing to share whatever I've got. God says, I'll

  144. do three things. One you grow spiritually, Two other people's

  145. needs get met, and three God gets thanks. He gets praised.

  146. God says, when you do that, I Am going to

  147. open the door of blessing in your life like you

  148. cannot believe. And that leads me to the second truth,

  149. very important truth. When I meet others' needs. God takes

  150. care of mine. When I meet others' needs, God takes

  151. care of mine. This is a test. When I meet

  152. others' needs, when I focus, even though I don't have

  153. much at all, I've just got a little. When I

  154. work on helping others, God says, that's kind of person

  155. I'm gonna bless. And he takes care of my needs.

  156. And let me show you an amazing verse. It's there

  157. on your outline, and I want you to notice what

  158. it says. And I'm gonna have you number the five benefits. First,

  159. he says, share your bread with the hungry. Okay, I

  160. can do that. I got it. Then he says, open

  161. your homes to the homeless poor, got it, Give clothes

  162. to those who have nothing to wear. Got it. And

  163. do not refuse to help your own relatives. Oh come on,

  164. I was with you, Lord till you got to that one.

  165. Do not refuse to you mean I gotta help, oh

  166. uncle so and so, our aunt so and so. Yep,

  167. God says, this is a test.

  168. You're listening to pastor Rick's Daily Hope. Rick will be

  169. back in just a moment with the rest of today's lesson.

  170. You can sign up for Pastor Rick's free email devotional

  172. Perhaps the most important role you can play in the

  173. life of a child is teaching them to trust God

  174. through prayer. It's the key to living with hope. Jesus said,

  175. we should always pray and never give up. That's why

  176. it's important to strengthen the hope of children by introducing

  177. them to Jesus's model for prayer at an early age.

  178. And we're excited to tell you about a very special

  179. resource to help you do just that. It's called The

  180. Lord's Prayer Words of Hope and Happiness. This book brings

  181. the poetic scripture of the King James version of the

  182. Bible to life. Readers young and old will enjoy thoughtful

  183. insights from New York Times best selling author Pastor Rick

  184. Warren and stunning illustrations by award winning artist Richard Jesse Watson.

  185. It's sure to become a meaningful bedtime ritual, a treasure memory,

  186. and a lasting legacy that bears good fruit for generations

  187. to come. This wonderful book is a perfect way to

  188. share the beauty and richness of the Lord's Prayer with

  189. the children the Lord has placed in your life, and

  190. we'll send it to you to say thanks. When you

  191. give a gift to Daily Hope, your gift will be

  192. used to help take the good News of Jesus Christ

  193. to people everywhere. Just call eight hundred six hundred five

  194. zero zero four or go to Fastrick dot com. That's

  195. eight hundred six hundred five zero zero four, or go

  196. to Pastor Rick dot com. Thanks so very much. There

  197. are only three days left to get your copy of

  198. the Lord's Prayer Children's Gift Book, so don't wait.

  199. You're listening to Pastor Rick's Daily Hope once again. Here's

  200. Pastor Rick Warren.

  201. When you're going through a tough time and you say, God,

  202. I don't have much, but whatever I got, I'm willing

  203. to share it. God says, I'll do three things. One

  204. you grow spiritually, two other people's needs get met, and

  205. three God gets thanks, he gets praised. God says, when

  206. you do that, I am going to open the door

  207. of blessing in your life like you cannot believe. And

  208. that leads me to the second truth, very important truth.

  209. When I meet others' needs, God takes care of mine.

  210. This is a test when I work on a helping others.

  211. God says, that's kind of person I'm gonna bless. And

  212. he takes care of my needs. And let me show

  213. you an amazing verse. It's there on your outline, and

  214. I want you to notice what it says. And I'm

  215. going to have your number the five benefits. First, he says,

  216. share your bread with the hungry. Okay, I can do that.

  217. I got it. Then he says, open your homes to

  218. the homeless poor, got it, Give clothes to those who

  219. have nothing to wear. Got it. And do not refuse

  220. to help your own relatives. Oh, come on, I was

  221. with you Lord till you got to that one. Do

  222. not refuse to have you mean, I gotta help old

  223. uncle so and so, our aunt so and so. Yep.

  224. God says, this is a test. Doesn't matter whether they

  225. deserve it or not. This is a test. Now, he says,

  226. when I meet others' needs, he'll take care of mine.

  227. And God makes five amazing promises. I want you to

  228. number them there on your outline. Put a number number

  229. one one, he says. Then number one, My favor will

  230. shine on you like the morning sun. That's good. I

  231. get God's favor in my life. Number two, he says,

  232. your wounds will be quickly healed. WHOA, my financial wounds, yeah,

  233. my emotional wounds, yeah, my relation of wounds.

  234. Yeah.

  235. He says your wounds will be healed quickly because you

  236. help somebody else. Then number three, he says, I will

  237. always be with you to save you. That's a good thing.

  238. Number four right, number four, My presence will protect you

  239. on every side. WHOA? And number five, And when you pray,

  240. I will answer you. Oh. The best time to learn

  241. to be generous. The best time to start tithing is

  242. in the middle of a drought, of a difficult time.

  243. There's a third principle. You write this one down. Whatever

  244. I give to God God, he multiplies. Whatever I give

  245. to God, he multiplies. If I give God my talent,

  246. he'll multiply my talent. If I give God my energy,

  247. he'll multiply my energy. If I give God my time

  248. and I start my day with the daily quiet time

  249. with him, he will multiply my time. If I give

  250. God my money, he will multiply my money. If I

  251. give God my relationships, he will multiply my relationships. Whatever

  252. I give to God, he's going to multiply and give

  253. it back. This is the story example in the Bible

  254. of the feeding of five thousand people. There's a miracle

  255. in the Bible, and Jesus did it to teach this truth.

  256. Five thousand people had followed Jesus out in the middle

  257. of the desert and he teaches them for all day.

  258. And at the end of the day, they're hungry and

  259. there's no McDonald's anywhere, and the disciples, the twelve guys,

  260. come to Jesus that Jesus them all away. They're all hungry.

  261. And Jesus looks at these twelve guys says, you guys

  262. feed him. I'm sure they swallowed hard on that one.

  263. What's he doing, He's testing their faith? Will you depend

  264. on me? You guys feed it? It's likely if he

  265. says the Saddleback Church, there's millions of people in southern

  266. California are spiritually hungry. I want your church to feed him. God,

  267. we can do that. We're just one church. You have

  268. it with me. I can do it. And they go

  269. out and they find in this entire crowd of five

  270. thousand people, one little boy brought a sack lunch and

  271. he's got his little lunch pale, and inside his lunch

  272. pale are five little loaves of bread, little tiny rolls,

  273. and to fish, to dried fish. He's the only God

  274. who's got a lunch. And a little boy brings his

  275. lunch to Jesus, said, Lord, you have this. Whatever I

  276. give to God, he multiplies. And Jesus took that bread

  277. and those loaves, and it says he prayed and he

  278. broke it, and he blessed it, and he multiplied it.

  279. And as he began to tear it apart and break

  280. it apart, it began to feed everybody. And it fed

  281. all five thousand people, with five thousand witnesses to this miracle.

  282. And then it says when they picked up all of

  283. the leftovers at the end, there were twelve basketfuls of

  284. leftovers of fish and loaves that weren't eaten. He always

  285. gives you more than you can handle. He took it,

  286. he broke it, he blessed it, and he used it.

  287. That's what God does in your life. The hard part

  288. is the breaking part. When God takes you and then

  289. he breaks you, and then he blesses you, and then

  290. he uses you. It's whatever I give to God, he multiplies.

  291. Look at this verse on the screen we talked about

  292. give us this day our daily bread. The Bible says,

  293. then cast your bread upon the waters, and after many days,

  294. you'll get it back. What in the world does that mean,

  295. cast your bread on the west. It sounds like I

  296. have a soggy loaf of bread if I throw it

  297. on the water. It's just an old expression, you know.

  298. It's like when we have the expression you're pulling my leg.

  299. It doesn't mean you're pulling my leg. I mean you're

  300. you know, you're kidding me. You're putting me on And

  301. cash your bread upon the waters and then you'll get

  302. it back. It's just this old principle that says whatever

  303. you give the God, he's going to multiply and give

  304. back to you. Let me give you another example of it.

  305. Look at this verse. It's possible to give freely and

  306. become more wealthy. It's possible to be generous and become

  307. more wealthy, but those who are stingy will lose everything. Now,

  308. the First Church in Jerusalem was very famous for this.

  309. They were world famous for their generosity, world famous for

  310. their compassion, helping each other out. I want you to

  311. be that way. I want this church to be world

  312. famous for its compassion, for its generosity, for its trust

  313. in God. Now, friends, I don't know where you're hurting today. Okay,

  314. you may be hurting financially already. Some of you are.

  315. I know some of you are hurting from something way

  316. long in the past, or emotional hurt or physical hurt.

  317. You're going through a tough time right now. Regardless of

  318. what you're going through, I want to invite you to

  319. become a part of a movement, a movement that says

  320. we're gonna trust God even in tough times. But I'm

  321. gonna call it the STS Club. I'm gonna see God

  322. as my source. I'm gonna trust God for today, and

  323. I'm gonna share what He supplies STS. How do you

  324. do that? Two things? You first, accept Jesus Christ into

  325. your life. Last verse on the screen, Jesus said, the

  326. true Bread of God is the one who comes down

  327. from heaven, and he gives life to the world. Sir,

  328. they said, give us this bread every day of our lives.

  329. Jesus said, I am the bread of life. No one

  330. who comes to me will ever be hungry again, and

  331. those who believe in me will never thirst. No matter

  332. how much you eat in a few hours, you get

  333. hungry again. No matter how much you drink in a

  334. few hours, you get thirsty again. Spiritually, there's a hunger

  335. in your heart that only God can feel. No woman

  336. will ever feel that hunger in your heart. No man

  337. will ever fill that hunger in your heart. There is

  338. that man does not exist. It is a hole in

  339. your heart and it's a hunger for God. And you

  340. don't know it. But it's God you're looking for and

  341. you need him. And when you let Him feel that hunger, huh,

  342. you never thirst again. You never hunger again. Now, I

  343. challenge you to open your heart to Christ and then say,

  344. we're gonna see God as our source, not Washington, not

  345. Wall Street, not my job, not anybody else. And I'm

  346. gonna trust God on a daily basis, not for monthly bread,

  347. for daily bread. And I'm going to share whatever He

  348. gives me, even if it's a little, I'm gonna share it,

  349. and I'm gonna watch God multiply it. Jesus, today, i

  350. want to take the STS challenge and this next year,

  351. I'm going to see you Lord as my source, and

  352. I'm gonna trust you for today, and I ask you

  353. to help me to worry about nothing and pray about everything,

  354. and help me to thank you in all things and

  355. to keep my mind on the right things. And then

  356. I want to share whatever you give me that what

  357. you give to me, you want to give through me.

  358. I want to focus on meeting others needs so you

  359. can take care of mine. Me to learn that whatever

  360. I give to you, you're going to multiply. And I

  361. pray this in your name. Amen.

  369. trust God through prayer. It's the key to living with hope.
