  5. relationally and emotionally by applying the five essentials needed for.

  6. A more vibrant life.

  7. If you want to have what it takes to live

  8. out your calling in life, stay with us for this

  9. amazing series. Now, in just a few moments, we're going

  10. to tell you about the Daniel Plan DVD study Kit,

  11. a sixth session video based study by Rick Warren, doctor

  12. Daniel Aman, and doctor Mark Hyman. This out of the

  13. box approach to a healthy lifestyle is based on five

  14. essentials faith, food, fitness, focus and friends. You can find

  15. out more right now by going to Pastorick dot com.

  16. While you listen to today's man Or you can just

  17. text the word daily to eight hundred six hundred five

  18. thousand and four. That's Pastorick dot com. Or the word

  19. daily to eight hundred six hundred five thousand and four.

  20. Here's Pastor Rick with the final part of a message

  21. called winning with the hand you are.

  22. Dealt Number three. The third.

  23. Are the circumstances of life, the trauma, the trouble, the pain,

  24. the pressure, the problems, the stress, you know, the.

  25. Suffering in my life. What do I do this? Number three?

  26. I can choose to trust God no matter what happens.

  27. I can choose to trust God regardless of my circumstance,

  28. and that gives you an identity nobody else is going

  29. to have Romans eight, twenty seven to twenty nine. I

  30. love this in the message. God knows us far better

  31. than we know ourselves. That's why we should trust him,

  32. not our own judgment. God knows us far better than

  33. we trust ourselves, so he knows better for.

  34. Me than I do.

  35. He knows us far better than we know ourselves. That's

  36. why we can be so sure that every detail in

  37. our lives of love for God circle, every detail, every

  38. detail in our lives of love for God is worked

  39. into something good. It's not all good, but it can

  40. be worked into something good. God knew what he was

  41. doing from the very beginning. I didn't, but he decided

  42. from the outset to shape the lives of those who

  43. love him, that's you and me, along the same lines

  44. as the life of his son. God's goal is to

  45. make me to make you like Jesus, his son. The

  46. son Jesus stands first in the line of humanity. He restored,

  47. and we see the original and intended shape of our

  48. lives there in him. God wants to use every circumstance

  49. in my life to make me like Jesus. So psal,

  50. I'm thirty four to one. I will praise the Lord

  51. no matter what happens. My friends, when you get to

  52. that point, that's a choice. When you could say I

  53. will praise the Lord no matter what happens, it's the consisses.

  54. I don't know.

  55. Come on, hit me, hit me with your best shot.

  56. I will praise the Lord no matter what happens.

  57. That is a confidence that is not built on money

  58. or sex, or status or passion, possession, position, or it's

  59. built on my relationship to God. And that can't be

  60. taken from me. And I will praise the Lord no

  61. matter what. And that is a confidence you can't get.

  62. Anywhere else in the world.

  63. And when you have that kind of confidence, you are

  64. an amazing woman and you are an amazing man, because

  65. most people never get that kind of confidence. But it's

  66. an identity you're not gonna get anywhere else. I want

  67. you to write this down on your outline. I am

  68. a product of my past, but I'm not a prisoner

  69. of it. I am a product of my past. Yeah,

  70. it has influenced me. My chemistry, my connections, my circumstances,

  71. They've all influenced me. I'm a product of my past,

  72. but I am not a prisoner of it, and I

  73. can be different. That leads me to number four, And

  74. this is a big one, the fourth choice.

  75. I can choose what I think about now.

  76. I can't choose what other people say about me or

  77. what they say to me, But I can't choose what

  78. I continue to allow in my mind. Yourself is created

  79. by your memories. You know, I've studied this for years.

  80. I'm fascinated with the brain since I was born with

  81. a brain dysfunction and has forced me to be dependent

  82. upon God. Your memories actually come from two different parts

  83. of your brain.

  84. Now.

  85. The badful memories, the painful memories, the memories of shame,

  86. the memories of guilt, the memories of anger, the memories

  87. of embarrassment, they're all up there in the amygdala. Your

  88. happy memories are in another part. You know what those

  89. other memories they're never going away. But you can overwrite them.

  90. You can overwrite them, and I can choose what I

  91. think about. Yourself is created by your memories, and your

  92. memories are created by your mental habits, the way you

  93. choose to think. Every time you think a thought, it

  94. creates an electrical current across your brain. It's kind of

  95. like if I were able to take the top of

  96. my head off and show you if I think of

  97. thought every time I think that same thought.

  98. It's kind of like this.

  99. Okay, kind of looks like me, doesn't it. Okay, that thought.

  100. The electrical current goes across your brain when you think

  101. of it creates a pattern. You think it again, a

  102. bigger pattern. When you think a thought a thousand times,

  103. it creates a rut. Some of you have a grand

  104. canyon of doubt in your mind. Some of you have

  105. a grand canyon of depression in your mind. Now, for years,

  106. there wasn't a whole lot of hope that anything could happen,

  107. because for years science has taught, in fact, the entire

  108. twentieth century, everybody thought that the adult brain could not

  109. be changed. This is a standard you read any science

  110. textbook that your brain was pretty much formed as a

  111. child in infancy and then became much more a little

  112. more formed in childhood, and by the time you got

  113. to be an adolescent, your brain was pretty much shaped

  114. and formed. And for the entire twentieth century people basically

  115. believed the adult brain cannot be changed. But then a

  116. guy won the two thousand and two Nobel Prize in Neurobiology,

  117. reproving that you can rewire the adult brain. You can

  118. change your brain. It is elastic, it is not in concrete,

  119. and your brain can change, and it can be rewired

  120. regardless of what's happened in your past. You can change now.

  121. It's great that science finally caught up with the Bible,

  122. because two thousand years earlier, in Romans twelve, God said this,

  123. don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, the

  124. habits and their pattern of thinking. But let God transform you.

  125. Change your mind, change your brain, transform you. You know

  126. what that word transform is in Greek metamorphosis. It's a

  127. Greek word metamorphosis. It's what a cocoon goes through to

  128. become a butterfly. Let God turn you from a caterpillar

  129. to a butterfly. Let God metamorphosize your brain. Let him

  130. transform you into a new person by changing the way

  131. you think, change your brain, change your life.

  132. How do you do that?

  133. You must feed your brain with truth. Whatever you feed

  134. your brain garbage in, garbage out. Now in your brain,

  135. you've got this scale between the negative and the positive,

  136. and everything in the world is putting negative in your life.

  137. You're no good, you're worthless, you don't amount to much,

  138. you're not sexy, you're not coordinated, you're not smart, you're

  139. not athletic.

  140. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah wow wah wow,

  141. wah whah.

  142. And it's adding all these things. And on this scale,

  143. you're putting pebbles of truth, positive pebbles of truth on

  144. one side of your brain, or you're putting negative pebbles

  145. of the world's lies on Satan's lies in your life. Now,

  146. when you get more negative thoughts in your life than

  147. positive thoughts, the truth of God's word and the scale

  148. tips like this, the negative got up the most. That's

  149. called depression. You gotta change it.

  150. You're listening to Pastor Rick's Daily Hope. Rick will be

  151. back in just a moment with the rest of today's lesson.

  152. You can sign up for Pastor Rick's free email devotional

  153. at pastorick dot com. That's pastorick dot com.

  154. The truth is most of us don't pay much attention

  155. to our health until something goes wrong. We put on

  156. a couple of pounds every year and think no big deal, right,

  157. But a few pounds over five or ten years really

  158. adds up and it can even lead to major illnesses

  159. like diabetes and heart disease. That's why Pastor Rick work

  160. together with medical and fitness experts to create the Daniel

  161. Plan Study. The sixth session DVD and workbook study kit

  162. from Rick Warren, doctor Daniel Amen, and doctor Mark Hyman

  163. is an out of the box approach to a healthy

  164. lifestyle based on five is cent faith, food, fitness, focus,

  165. and friends. The Daniel Plan Study gives individuals in small

  166. groups the encouragement and accountability needed to succeed. If you've

  167. been watching the scale go up lately, or your health

  168. is in trouble because of your weight, it's not too late.

  169. Join the thousands of people who've lost weight, improve their

  170. health and improved their relationships through the Daniel Plan. We'll

  171. send you a copy of the Daniel Plan DVD Study

  172. kid to say thanks, when you give a gift to

  173. Daily Hope to help share the hope of Jesus with

  174. people around the world. Just go to Pastorrick dot com

  175. to get your copy, or you can call eight hundred

  176. six hundred five zero zero four. That's Pastorrick dot com.

  177. Or call eight hundred six hundred five zero zero four

  178. and thank you so much for your support.

  179. Once again, here's Rick.

  180. Now, when you get more negative thoughts in your life,

  181. then positive thoughts the truth of God's Word and the

  182. scale tips like this. The negatives got the most. That's

  183. called depression. You got to change it. Now, how do

  184. you change it? By putting pebbles of truth in your mind?

  185. And I'm not just talking about coming on Sunday. You

  186. feed your mind in the Word of God. You read it,

  187. you memorize it, you meditate it, You do the forty

  188. days in the words stuff we talked about, and you

  189. write little cards down and you memorize the Word of God,

  190. and you write out affirmations based on the Word, and

  191. you feed your mind. And the more you every time

  192. you put these pebbles, suddenly the.

  193. Scales start telthing.

  194. Uh.

  195. And when you get here where they're equal and you

  196. have as many negatives as you have positive. You know

  197. how you feel, you don't you feel nothing? You say

  198. I feel empty, I feel blah. Well, congratulations, you've moved

  199. from depression. Okay, you say I don't feel anything. I'm

  200. not happy, but I'm just not sad anymore. Fine, you've

  201. moved to hear. That's called blah. But the more you

  202. keep feeding your mind with the word of God, that's

  203. a technical term, it's in the dictionary. The more you

  204. feed your mind with the world of God, all of

  205. a sudden, when you get like this, that's called happiness.

  206. And happiness is a choice. Don't blame anybody else for

  207. your unhappiness. You're as happy as you choose to think.

  208. You're as happy as you choose to believe. You're as

  209. happy as you choose to fill your mind with the

  210. right things Philippians four eight. Here on the screen, dear

  211. brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as

  212. I close this letter. Fix your thoughts. That means intentional.

  213. It's an intentional focus. Fix your thoughts. Fix your thoughts

  214. on what is true and honorable and right. You need

  215. to fill your mind with the truth, not lies. You

  216. need to mind fill your mind with what's honorable, with

  217. the right thing, not the wrong thing. Think about things

  218. that are pure and lovely and admirable. That doesn't sound

  219. like television. Not many admirable, pure and lovely things on television.

  220. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

  221. That means you get the garbage out of your life.

  222. You don't watch junk TV. There's some movies you don't

  223. go to, and there's a lot of books you just

  224. don't read because you think about things that are excellent

  225. and worthy of praise. Now, let me give you a

  226. suggestion on how.

  227. To do this.

  228. Those of you who are interior decorators are going to

  229. hate me for this. Don't put stuff on your walls

  230. that doesn't inspire you. Don't put stuff on your walls

  231. that doesn't mean anything to you. Surround yourself visually and

  232. orally with things that create good memories that tell you

  233. who you are and tell you whose you are, so

  234. you see it.

  235. All the time.

  236. Put the Word of God on your walls. Put promises

  237. on the wall, Put beautiful sunsets on the old. Put

  238. whatever inspires you. Put things that create the positive memories

  239. in your life. To reinforce those things the best of

  240. both worlds is to take a positive memory from your

  241. past and put a scripture on it. I was talking

  242. to the guy I work out with every day, and

  243. he was showing me that he grew up on a

  244. farm in Nebraska, and he took this beautiful picture of

  245. the pathway down from his old house, and at the

  246. bottom he wrote a scripture on I will follow your paths,

  247. O Lord. That's combining a beautiful memory with the word

  248. of God, and that double reinforces it in his mind.

  249. You can rewire your brain.

  250. You can. It's a choice.

  251. I can choose what I think about. I can choose

  252. my consciousness. Now there's one more choice that I can make,

  253. and remember, the fifth card is the wild card. This

  254. is the wild card that can change the number and

  255. the suit of the color of every other card that

  256. I've been dealt. And the fifth choice that I can

  257. choose is this. I can choose Jesus as my savior.

  258. And when I talk about savior, I'm not just talking

  259. about saving you out of hell and into heaven. I'm

  260. not just talking about saving you from your sins and

  261. forgiving you. You ought to have done that. If you

  262. haven't done that, you need to settle that one today.

  263. That's the first thing. But I'm talking about letting Jesus

  264. be your savior every day. This changes everything because when

  265. I choose Jesus as my savior every day, I get

  266. the power to follow through on these choices. I can

  267. make these choices, but I'm not going to stick with

  268. them on willpower. I've got to make choices and then

  269. depend on Jesus to give me the power to do

  270. these things.

  271. I choose them as my savior.

  272. And I said, hey, Jesus, I need you to save

  273. me from my chemistry. I need you to save me

  274. from my physical, emotional, mental defects.

  275. I need your.

  276. Salvation in my heart, body, mind. Jesus, I need you

  277. to save my relationships. They're going south. I need you

  278. to save me to have healthy relationships, not hurtful harmfulness.

  279. And Jesus, I need you to save me from my circumstances,

  280. from the problems, from the pressures, from the trauma, from

  281. the trouble. And Jesus, I need you to save my

  282. mind and help put a guard up there, help me

  283. put on the helmet of salvation.

  284. What's a helmet for? To guard your mind?

  285. So you've protected you from the thoughts that come in

  286. and influence because your mind controls your life. I need

  287. you to save me, Jesus, I need you to save me.

  288. Not from sin, I need you to save me from myself.

  289. The Bible says this on the screen. When someone becomes

  290. a Christian, he becomes a brand new person. Inside. He's

  291. not the same anymore. A new life has been done.

  292. It's like being born again. It's like starting over. That's

  293. a whole new identity. Now you think that you're waiting

  294. on God to change something in your life. God, I've

  295. really wanted to be married.

  296. God.

  297. I've really wanted to get healthier. God, I've really wanted.

  298. To have that job.

  299. God, all those things that you think you're waiting on

  300. God for God says, I'm waiting on you to use

  301. the wild card I gave you, because according to your faith,

  302. it will be done unto you.

  303. Pray this prayer, Dear God.

  304. There are some things in my hand that you've dealt me,

  305. and that life has dealt me, and that others have

  306. dealt me that I don't like. But I thank you

  307. for the wild card that you made me in your image,

  308. and I can make choices. So today in your power

  309. and in your strength, I choose to get healthier. I

  310. choose to do the things that will give me more

  311. energy and a healthier body, and a healthier mind and

  312. healthier emotions.

  313. You made my body.

  314. Lord, Now give me sense to heed your laws, and

  315. you think about what you need to do in a

  316. practical way to get healthy or healthier. Then say, Lord,

  317. I choose to build healthy relationships. I am so scared

  318. to death, but I'm going to risk building some new

  319. healthy connections.

  320. Jesus Christ.

  321. I want my heart to be filled with you by faith,

  322. and I want to be strong in love, and I

  323. want to.

  324. Be built on love.

  325. Dear God, thank you that I can choose, and I

  326. do choose what I think about. No more garbage in

  327. my mind, no more junk, no more pornography, no more

  328. gross stuff. I choose to think about what you want

  329. me to think about. Most of all, Jesus, I choose

  330. you as my savior, and I pray this in the

  331. name of my Savior, Jesus.

  332. Amen.

  333. Hi, everybody, this is Rick and I hope you enjoyed

  398. share at different times in life. You can pray for

  400. give generously so that God can continue to spread this
