  2. to see what God's going to do through Daily Hope

  3. in this coming new year. Thank you so much for

  4. your support. I love you, I'm praying for you. I

  5. thank God for you. I appreciate you more than words

  6. can say. Have a happy New Year.

  7. This is Pastor Rick's Daily Hope, the Bible teaching ministry

  8. of Pastor Rick Warren. Today we continue in a series

  9. called Transformed. In these lessons, Rick uncovers key principles found

  10. in God's Word that will completely transform our lives from

  11. the inside out in every area including spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, relational, financial,

  12. and vocational. Now, if you can improve in any of

  13. these areas I just mentioned, stay with us, because in

  14. just a few moments we're going to let you know

  15. how you can have your very own Transformed study kit

  16. from Pastor Rick, which includes a seven session DVD and workbook.

  17. You can take a sneak peek right now by going

  18. to pastor Rick dot com while you listen, and if

  19. you want, you can just text the word Daily to

  20. eight hundred, six hundred five thousand and four to find

  21. out more. Right now, here's Pastor Rick Warren with the

  22. final part of a message called how to get Closer

  23. to God.

  24. Okay, now, here's the third step to getting back to God,

  25. to getting back in his love and his grace. Not

  26. that he doesn't love you, He always loves you no

  27. matter where you are, but to feeling that love. Here's

  28. a third thing. I get fed up. I own up.

  29. Number three, I offer up. I offer up my life,

  30. I offer up myself, I offer up my total being.

  31. And this is a third thing that we find this

  32. young man did. He got fed up. He came to

  33. a census. He owned up. He says, I've sin against God,

  34. and then.

  35. He offered up. Now.

  36. Notice in Luke chapter fifteen, verse twelve, the son drifted

  37. away saying give me my share. And in Luke fifteen nineteen,

  38. when he comes back, he returned to the father saying,

  39. make me a servant. Do you notice any change in

  40. attitude there? Hello, He leaves saying give me, give me,

  41. give me, give me, give me, give me. He comes

  42. back saying make me. That is transformation. That is true transformation.

  43. When your heart moves from self centeredness to God's sinneredness,

  44. that's transformation. Are you there yet? Are you still in

  45. the gimme, gimme, gim me, give me, gimme. What can

  46. God do for me? Give me my stuff now to

  47. make me your servant. That's the transformation. He returns, saying,

  48. make me. That's a heart transformation, and that is the

  49. greatest transformation of well, from self.

  50. Centered to God's thereness. Are you letting God do that

  51. in you? Now?

  52. That transformation, it doesn't happen overnight. God is still working

  53. on me on this one, and it's gonna be your

  54. entire life. He's gonna work on It's never instant, but

  55. there is a decision that starts the process. Second, during

  56. these three eighteen, says this, we reflect the Lord's glory

  57. and are being transformed. That means a continuing process. We

  58. are being transformed, not just once, but on a ongoing basis.

  59. It's a process.

  60. We're being transformed into His likeness now with ever increasing

  61. glory which comes from the Lord. Was the spirit that

  62. word transformed? You know, the Bible was written the New

  63. Testament in Greek. You know what the word there is

  64. in Greek metamorphouso Does that sound like anything, you know, metamorphosis.

  65. It's the word we get metal. What's the metaphor of morphosis.

  66. It's when a butterfly goes from a caterpillar to a

  67. pupa a chrysalis, and from a pupa a chrysalis into

  68. a butterfly. That's metamorphosis. It hadn't happen overnight. In fact,

  69. there's that stage where it's sitting there in that chrysalis.

  70. It forms that little cocoon. It's pretty ugly. Ever seen

  71. one of those things, doesn't look very beautiful to me,

  72. But when it breaks out, that butterfly is stunning. I

  73. so badly want to be that, and I want you

  74. to be that. I want you to be transformed from

  75. the lowly caterpillar into the beautiful butterfly. That is what

  76. transformation is all about. It is metamorphosis. It is going

  77. from you know, when you're a caterpillar, what can you do?

  78. Not much except munch on leaves ba boom boom boom

  79. boo boom boo boom boo boom boo boom, and you're

  80. stuck on the ground. And I'm sure when caterpillars have

  81. looked in the air, butterflies go. You never get me

  82. up in one of those things. God made you to

  83. be a butterfly. God made you to soar. God made

  84. you to be beautiful, not ugly beautiful. But you've got

  85. to go through the transformation process. And the transformation process

  86. is number one. Get fed up with the way you've

  87. been living, and then own up. Get honest to God. God,

  88. I admit I have been living for myself. I've been

  89. doing it my way, and do that check up, and

  90. then offer up myself. Transformation is a process, but the

  91. starting point is what the prodigal son said.

  92. Make me. That's offer up, make.

  93. Me, transform me, change me.

  94. God.

  95. I don't want to live the rest of my life

  96. the way I'm living right now, Change me. Romans twelve

  97. to one. This is our theme verse. But let me

  98. read you the verse before it. Because God is merciful

  99. to you. Offer yourselves, Offer yourselves. That's it. I offer

  100. up myself. That's step one. I get fed up. Okay,

  101. I own up, and now I offer up. Offer yourselves

  102. as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This

  103. is your spiritual act of worship. And don't be conformed

  104. to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by

  105. the renewing of your mind.

  106. No transfer until you do the offer up.

  107. It's important to notice the father's response Luke fifteen twenty three,

  108. filled with love and compassion. He ran out to his son,

  109. threw his arms around him, and kissed him. He said,

  110. bring the best, bring the best robe, bring the best

  111. bring bring the best shoes, bring the fatted calf. In

  112. all these things the father's response. Notice he didn't wait

  113. for the son to come home while he was still distant.

  114. He ran out the moment you just say, God, I'm

  115. tired of living the way I've been living. God, I'm tired.

  116. He will do more than halfway. He will run out

  117. to meet you. God is not waiting for you to

  118. come knock on the door. He's waiting for this moment

  119. in your life where he runs.

  120. Out to you. He takes an issue.

  121. He throws his arms around you, he kisses you, and

  122. he says, okay, look, I know you blew it.

  123. Go get the best rope, get the best clothes in

  124. the house.

  125. And then he says, go get my signet ring. Do

  126. you know why he says that. You know what a

  127. signet ring is? In those days, the signet ring was

  128. your credit card. Because you take the ring and you

  129. press it into wax, and that was like a credit card.

  130. He said, go get my unlimited Black American Express and

  131. bring it out to my son who just blew half

  132. of my income. God isn't holding the grudge. He's ready

  133. to lavishly pour this on you. Bring out the best,

  134. bring out the best shoes, do all these things. God

  135. has a better plan for your life than you can imagine.

  136. To Pastor Rick's Daily Hope, Rip will be back in

  144. for more. The good news is God's Word contains timeless

  145. truths that can transform every area of your life from

  146. the inside out. That's why Pastor Rick created a very

  166. sign up. My email is Rick at Pastorick dot com.

  167. That's Rick at Pastorick dot com. Once again, here's Rick.

  168. How do I get back to God?

  169. I get fed up, I own up, and I offer up.

  170. And then there's one other thing I do. Once I

  171. come home and I'm entrapped in God's love, and he

  172. hugs me and he kisses me, and he says, bring

  173. out the best. All is forgiven, All is forgiven. Go

  174. get the credit card, Go get the rope, Go get

  175. the shoes. Let's let's have a barbecue. Get that fatted calf,

  176. and we're gonna have Lucille's barbecue tonight. Okay, and we're

  177. giving him the ribs, all right, and it's gonna be great.

  178. It's gonna be finger licking good time.

  179. All right.

  180. Here we go, and in that celebration, you now come home.

  181. Not to condemnate, you come back to God in celebration.

  182. Here's the fourth thing. I lift up my praise.

  183. And I just go, thank you God, thank you for

  184. your grace, thank you for your love, thank you for

  185. your goodness. I lift up my praise. Luke fifteen, here's

  186. what the father says. We're gonna celebrate. We're gonna celebrate

  187. with a feast of eating and drinking. We're gonna celebrate

  188. with a feast of eating and drinking. He was lost,

  189. but now is found. So the party begins and life

  190. becomes a party. When life comes to transformation. The Bible

  191. says in Psalm sixty eighty four, sing to God, sing

  192. praises to his name.

  193. Lift up.

  194. There's that word, lift up my praises, lift up a

  195. song to him. His name is the Lord. Now let

  196. me just tell you something for your own transformation. You

  197. need to start singing at church. Some of you just said,

  198. I'm just coming to hear rick. I had a psychologist

  199. friend who anytime somebody came to see him for depression,

  200. his first question was, did you sing all of the

  201. songs at church last week? And if they said no,

  202. he said, then I want you to go and I

  203. want you to sing all the songs at church for

  204. the next three weeks and come back and see me.

  205. I never really understood why he was doing that until

  206. this week a global study came out done by Swedish

  207. researchers and that they've done this scientific study. It concluded

  208. that the habit of group singing, not singing by yourself.

  209. The habit of group singing is good for your health.

  210. It is great therapy to sing with other people. It's

  211. good for mental health. They prove it's good for your

  212. emotional health, it's good for your social health and it's

  213. good for your physical health in all different areas and

  214. extensive study and they discovered that singing with other people

  215. lowers your blood pressure, releases endorphins which makes you feel good,

  216. improves your mood, build your confidence, relieves loneliness, releases negative

  217. emotions and stress, and creates positive study emotions. Another study

  218. showed that people who sing and worship each week live longer.

  219. I want you to live longer.

  220. Now.

  221. It referred to this book. So I went out and

  222. bought this book this week. It's called Imperfect Harmony, Finding

  223. Happiness in Singing with others. It's fascinating study that these

  224. guys have done on this. So we're going to do

  225. something good for your health right now. You're going to

  226. live a little bit longer. I told you I was

  227. going to give you two new habits. One of them

  228. is the habit of a regular checkup. And here's the

  229. other habit. I want you to intentionally start singing all

  230. the songs, even the ones you don't know, even the

  231. ones you don't like, even the ones you think are

  232. too loud, even the ones that's not your style. I

  233. want you to sing them because it will lower your

  234. blood pressure release endorphins, improved mood, build confidence, relieve loneliness,

  235. re meets making emotion of stress, and create posmotion. That's

  236. called transformation. Now the Father celebrated. He had a celebration,

  237. not a condemnation, a celebration. When the sun came back home.

  238. I'm fed up and I'm owning up, and I'm going

  239. to offer up. And now I lift up my praise

  240. and we're going to party, and we're going to celebrate,

  241. and we're going to sing. One Corinthians eleven twenty four

  242. says this, On the night he was betrayed, the Lord

  243. Jesus took bread, and he spoke a prayer of thanksgiving,

  244. and he broke the bread, and he said, this is

  245. my body, which is given for you. Do this to

  246. remember me. He said, I never want you to forget

  247. how much I love you. So I'm going to give

  248. you two symbols to remember my death, my burial, and

  249. my resurrection. And those two symbols are baptism and the

  250. Lord's supper. If you haven't been baptized, you should be baptized.

  251. It's one of the ways of saying I have come home.

  252. I'm getting close to God. I'm coming home and baptism

  253. is one and the Lord's Supper is the other.

  254. Now it says he.

  255. Prayed a prayer of thanksgiving before he served communion. The

  256. word thanksgiving in Greek is the word EUCHARISTO you ever

  257. heard the word eucharist. The Lord's supper communion is often

  258. called Eucharist. Where is that word from? It's from. Eucharist

  259. is simply the Greek word for thanksgiving. And when we

  260. take the Lord's Supper, when we take the Eucharist, when

  261. we take communion, we are saying thank you God, Thank

  262. you God for not coming and condemning me when I

  263. come home, but having a celebration when I come home.

  264. Thank you for your grace, thank you for your mercy,

  265. thank you for what you've done, thank you for all

  266. the things that you've done. I receive it with thanks. EUCHARISTO.

  267. I am so grateful God for your grace. I am

  268. so grateful for your love. I am so grateful that

  269. you don't scold me, you save me, that you don't

  270. scare me, you save me. And I am so grateful

  271. as I take these elements to remember what you have

  272. done for me. And just as they had the fatted calf,

  273. we take communion together to say, Lord, thank you. We

  274. receive this with thanksgiving. Let's bow our heads for prayer.

  275. Father.

  276. When we think of your grace, we are overwhelmed. It

  277. makes our hearts want to sing. There's no way that

  278. we deserve this kind of reaction, this kind of celebration,

  279. this kind of welcoming when we come home. But we

  280. come to you, and first we say we're fed up.

  281. We're fed up with the way we've been living. We're

  282. fed up of life without Christ. We're fed up with

  283. doing it all on our own power. We're just fed

  284. up with all of that. And we own up. We

  285. realize that you haven't moved, but we have. And the

  286. reason we're not close is because we've allowed other things

  287. to cloud our vision of you. We have allowed idols

  288. in our lives. We have loved other things more than you,

  289. and that has made you feel distant. But we come

  290. back and we we own up to our sin, and

  291. then we offer up ourselves. We're not saying give me,

  292. give me, give me anymore. We're saying, make me, make me,

  293. make me Lord, transform our lives during these fifty days.

  294. If you've never accepted jesus gift of salvation. Say Jesus Christ,

  295. right now, I accept your gift of salvation. Thank you

  296. for loving me and dying for me on the cross.

  297. I give myself back to you. I offer up myself

  298. to you, make me your servant, and I ask you

  299. to transform my life in your name.

  300. I pray Jesus. Amen.

  301. Hi everybody, This is Rick and I hope you enjoyed

  302. today's broadcast. You know, if you just prayed that prayer

  303. for the very first time, or you just recommitted your

  304. life to Jesus again today, would you let me know

  305. about it. There's something real about sharing your commitment. So

  306. write me Rick at pastor Rick dot com and say, Rick,

  307. I prayed that prayer of commitment. I gave my life

  308. to Christ. And I'll send you some material that will

  309. help you on your journey with Jesus. And I'll also

  310. pray for you. God bless you.

  311. This is Pastor Rick's Daily Hope. We're so thankful that

  312. you've chosen to spend some time with us. If you've

  313. missed any part of this broadcast, including portions we didn't

  314. have time for today, just go to pastor Rick dot

  315. com and listen online. Anytime. Rick will be back to

  316. close out time today. But first, you know the world

  317. is shouting for our attention with answers to our relationship struggles,

  318. solutions to our financial troubles, and explanations to our search

  319. for meaning. But the world's promises leave us empty and

  320. searching for more. God's word contains the only answers that

  321. promise to transform your life from the inside out. That's

  322. why Pastor Rick has put together the Transformed Study Kit,

  323. which includes a vegan, leatherbound interactive workbook and a seven

  324. video session DVD. Right now, here's Pastor Rick to tell

  325. you more.

  326. During this series on transformation, we've been talking about seven

  327. key areas of your life spiritual health, physical health, mental health.

  328. We've talked about emotional health, your relational health, your financial health,

  329. even your vocational your career health. God cares about every

  330. one of these areas in your life.

  331. Did you know?

  332. He wants to bless each of these areas And He's

  333. given us principles and steps in his words for living healthy,

  334. fulfilled lives, not for our happiness alone, but ultimately for

  335. God's glory, for his happiness, for his joy. God enjoys

  336. watching his children be effective in life. Now the truth is,

  337. we can't change or transform these areas on our own.

  338. We have to start trusting God to create the changes

  339. within us. The Bible teaches that the closer we get

  340. to God, the more our lives will be transformed. And

  341. in Jeremiah twenty nine thirteen, God says, you'll find me

  342. when you get serious about finding me and want it

  343. more than anything else. So I want you, and I

  344. want me and all of us to get serious about

  345. discovering God's wisdom and allowing him to transform our lives.

  346. Imagine the difference the world would be if lives were

  347. really true transformed by the grace of God. Now, it's

  348. always been my goal here at Daily Hope not just

  349. to show you what God says to do and how

  350. to do it, but to supply you with practical tools

  351. for doing it on a daily basis. So I've created

  352. a special Transformed Bible study Kit. Now in this kit,

  353. there are a number of resources that I want you

  354. to have. First, seven lessons on DVD that help you

  355. go deeper and explore what the Bible has to say

  356. about each of these seven key areas of your life.

  357. And then there's a two hundred and twenty five page

  358. workbook filled with tools for personal evaluation, goal setting, daily devotions,

  359. versus to memorize, a place to take notes and journal

  360. information about additional resources. This study kit can be used

  361. not just in your personal life, but as a small

  362. group study guide with your friends. I want to send

  363. the Transformation Bible Study Kit to you as my gift

  364. to tell you how much I love you and to

  365. say thanks for your financial support of Daily Hope. If

  366. you can give any kind of financial support to keep

  367. this broadcast expanding throughout the world to share the message

  368. of hope of God's Word, I want you to have

  369. the Transformed Bible Study Kit when you give to Daily Hope.

  370. It helps us share the message around the world in

  371. places where there are no Bibles, no bodies of Christ,

  372. and no believers. I want you to know that I

  373. love you, and I thank God for you, and I

  374. hope you'll join me next time as we continue to

  375. look into God's Word for our daily hope.
