  1. Welcome to Pastor Rick's Daily Hope. Today we continue on

  2. a journey through a powerful series called God's Amazing Promises.

  3. In the upcoming lessons, you'll discover some of the most

  4. profound promises that God has made to you. These promises

  5. are not mere words. They are keys to a renewed life,

  6. inner peace, and a hopeful future. But before we get started,

  7. we want to let you know that very generous friends

  8. of the ministry are offering a one hundred thousand dollars

  9. matching grant. That means every dollar you give right now

  10. to help Daily Hope share the hope of Jesus around

  11. the world will be matched up to one hundred thousand dollars,

  12. making your gift go twice as far. You can find

  13. out more by going to Pastorick dot com or by

  14. texting the word Hope to eight hundred six hundred five

  15. thousand four. Right now, here's Pastor Rick Warren with part

  16. two of a message called God's Promises about giving.

  17. Jesus says, give and it will be given back to you.

  18. And notice in full measure, you don't get a little back,

  19. you get it all back and more given it will

  20. be given back to you in full measure. God's gonna

  21. make sure he outgives you given it will be given

  22. to you in full measure, and what you receive will

  23. need to be pressed down and shaken together. What's that

  24. talking about. Well, let's say if you're getting grained and

  25. people are pouring grain in your sack, and you've paid

  26. for a whole sack, you're gonna shake it like this,

  27. and then you're gonna press it down so you can

  28. get the maximum amount of grain or coins or anything

  29. else into that sack. And he's saying, God wants to

  30. give you so much, you have to press it down.

  31. You have to shake it together to make more room,

  32. because God wants to give you more than your sack

  33. can hold. He says, what you receive will need to

  34. be pressed down and shaken together, but it will still notice.

  35. It will still run over and be poured into your lap.

  36. That makes me think of a lottery. It's just pouring in.

  37. It's pouring into your lap. And then he summarizes that,

  38. Jesus summarizes this this way, the way you give to

  39. others is the way God will give to you. Whoa

  40. that we can just stop right there and in the

  41. message and have you go home and think about this,

  42. that the way I give to others is the way

  43. God will give to me. God is waiting for me

  44. to be generous. He wants me to prime the pomp.

  45. Why because he wants me to learn to be like him.

  46. I can't be like Christ without giving. God so loved

  47. the world that he gave. You've heard me say this

  48. many times. You can give without loving, but you cannot

  49. love without giving. You spell love giv God so loved

  50. the world that he gave. And so if we're going

  51. to be loving, then we've got to learn to be giving.

  52. We've got to learn to be generous. So he says,

  53. give and it will be given to you. And the

  54. way you give to others is the way God will

  55. give to you. That's promise. And he says, if you're generous,

  56. God will give you more than you can handle. Let

  57. me show you some other verses about this that God,

  58. I'll get back more than I actually gave out Proverbs

  59. eleven twenty four says this, some people give generously and

  60. end up with more, while other people don't give what

  61. they should and end up poor. That actually rhymes some

  62. people give generously and end up with more, and while

  63. others don't give what they should, they end up with

  64. being poor. He's saying, you are. You are determining how

  65. much I can bless your life. Proverbs nineteen, verse seventeen

  66. says this, and if you're a businessman, you need to

  67. start and circle this verse. Being generous to the poor

  68. is like lending to the Lord, and God will pay

  69. you back for what you've done. He's saying that giving

  70. is an investment that when you try to give it away,

  71. God says, I'm going to pay you back. He says,

  72. you see a homeless person on the street and you

  73. give him some money. Are you support the Peace Plan?

  74. When you support the Peace Plan, you're helping poor people

  75. all around the world because that's one of our Caring

  76. for the sick and assisting the poor are two of

  77. the key principles of the Peace Plan. He says, when

  78. you're generous to the poor, it's like lending to the Lord,

  79. and God will pay you back. In one of the

  80. translations of this verse, it says, and God pays great

  81. interest on your loan, it's like loaning to the Lord.

  82. So you're not really giving that money away because God says,

  83. I'm going to pay you back with interest. Giving is

  84. an investment number seven and the promises of God about

  85. giving in generosity. God promises that if I learned to

  86. give like God tells me to give, God promises to

  87. meet all my needs. Now that just sounds too good

  88. to believe. It just sounds too good to be true.

  89. But over and over and over in scripture, God says,

  90. if you'll put me first in your money, and if

  91. you'll learn to be generous and not tightfisted, not tied wad,

  92. open handed, open hearted, I will meet all your needs. Philippians,

  93. Chapter four, verse seventeen and nineteen. Paul says this, I

  94. want you to have the good that comes from giving.

  95. Circle that I want you to have the good that

  96. comes from giving. The whole reason I'm teaching this message

  97. is because I love you and I want you to

  98. have the good that comes from giving. I know the

  99. good that comes from giving. I've been doing it all

  100. my life. I've been blessed all my life because I've

  101. learned the good that comes from giving. Most of you know,

  102. Kay and I are reverse pilors. We give away ninety

  103. one percent of our income and we live on nine percent. Now,

  104. we didn't start there, But how are we able to

  105. live that way? Because the good that comes from giving.

  106. God just says I'm not going to let you outgive me,

  107. and the Bible says this, I want you to have

  108. the good that comes from giving. My God will use

  109. his wonderful, richest in Christ, Jesus to give you everything

  110. you need.

  111. You're listening to Pastor Rick's Daily Hope. Rick will be

  115. Every year, people tell us how much they benefit from

  116. the Bible verses found in the Daily Hope Prayer Journal,

  117. so for the very first time, created a special scripture

  118. card set with fifty two life changing verses found in

  119. this year's prayer Journal. These verses will encourage you in

  120. difficult times and help you experience the piece you can

  121. only find in Jesus. This set of beautifully designed cards

  122. will help you memorize scripture so you can recall God's

  123. word when you need it most. You can also use

  124. them to minister to others. Give one to a friend

  125. and write a personalized note of encouragement on the back.

  126. If a scripture really speaks to you, frame it, put

  127. them in places where you can read them during the

  128. day for encouragement. And today, when you give a gift

  129. to help Daily Hope take the Hope of Jesus to

  130. a world in need, We'll send you the Experiencing God's

  131. Peace Scripture card set to say thanks. Visit pastor Rick

  133. zero four to get your copy of Experiencing God's Peace

  134. Scripture Card set. And all this month that any gift

  135. you give will be matched by very generous friends up

  136. to one hundred thirds dollars. There's only two days left

  137. to have your gift matched to and receive You're Experiencing

  138. God's Peace Scripture guard set, so please contact us right

  139. away again, that's Pastorick dot com or call eight hundred

  140. at six hundred at five zero zero four. Thank you

  141. so much for your support, and don't forget to mention

  142. that you heard Daily Hope on the radio.

  143. Now back to more from God's Word with Pastor Rick Warren.

  144. And the Bible says this, I want you to have

  145. the good that comes from giving My God will use

  146. his wonderful, richest in Christ, Jesus to give you everything

  147. you need. Wow, do you believe that verse? If you know,

  148. you got to just take an exact on ife and

  149. cut it out of your Bible. Jesus said, I will

  150. make sure you get everything you need. Now. Notice he

  151. didn't say I'll give you all your greed. He says,

  152. I'll give you everything you need. There are some things

  153. I think I need that I really don't need. God

  154. says all your needs will be met, doesn't say all

  155. your greeds, all your desires, all your lust will be met.

  156. You know it's not like, well, I want to rolls Royce.

  157. That's not a need. But he said, I will give

  158. you everything you need if you learn to be generous.

  159. Look at a couple of other verses there. Again, there's

  160. so many these verses. I had to cram them on

  161. your outline and still left out you know so many

  162. Proverbs twenty eight, Verse twenty seven says this, he who

  163. gives to the poor will lack nothing. Circle that will

  164. lack nothing. If you want to lack nothing in your

  165. life emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally, then you need to learn

  166. how to give to the poor. But he who gives

  167. to the poor will lack nothing. But he who closes

  168. his eyes to their need will receive their needs, will

  169. receive curses. When you're driving along and you come up

  170. to stoplight and there's a homeless person on the side,

  171. do you just kind of keep looking forward and you

  172. close your eyes to what is on your side? The

  173. other night, Kay and I took our eldest grandchild for

  174. her sixteenth birthday up to see Phantom of the Opera

  175. in la and we turned under an underpass bridge, and

  176. I believe there were probably twenty people camped out in

  177. tents living under that. Every bone in my body wanted

  178. to stop right there. There were cars behind us, and

  179. we couldn't because I'm going I can't turn my eye

  180. to this. And I know that Kay, every time she

  181. sees a homeless person, she stops, she rolls down her window,

  182. and she helps him out. That's one of the reasons

  183. God has blessed us is because he says, you'll lack nothing,

  184. but if you close your eyes to the needs of

  185. the poor, your life's cursed. Here's another verse about the

  186. same thing. Second Corinthians, chapter nine, Versus seven and eight.

  187. You should give as you have decided in your heart

  188. to give. In other words, nobody can tell you what

  189. to give. What's generous for you is your decision based

  190. on how much income you have. But he says you

  191. should decide what you've decided in your heart to give.

  192. Never give reluctantly or under pressure, because God loves the

  193. person who gives cheerfully. Now you've heard me say this.

  194. If you ever feel pressured by anybody, including me, on giving,

  195. don't do it. Don't give why because you don't get

  196. any credit for it. You don't get any blessing out it.

  197. God doesn't want stingy givers. God doesn't want grouchy givers.

  198. God wants people who give cheerfully. That Greek word, there's

  199. the word hilarious. It means hilariously, I enjoy it. People

  200. Often you'll hear say, well, I give till it hurts. No, No,

  201. give till it feels good, till it becomes joyful. Don't

  202. give reluctantly, don't give under pressure, because God loves a

  203. cheerful giver. Now that's the premise. Here's the promise. Then

  204. here's the promise. God will generously provide for you. Sow

  205. that here's the promise. In all things, at all times,

  206. you'll have all that you need and plenty left over

  207. to give more to every good work. You might circle

  208. all the alls in that. I mean, it's like there's

  209. no wiggle room. God has not allowed any wiggle room

  210. for himself in this promise. He said, if you learn

  211. to give generously, cheerfully, generously, spontaneously, not out of neglect,

  212. not out of regret, not out of pressure, not out

  213. of compulsion, but cheerfully and generously, he says, You're going

  214. to have all you need at all times, in all things,

  215. in all places. There's no wiggle room there. God says,

  216. I am guaranteeing I will meet your needs. Do you

  217. believe that verse? Let's go to a couple more promises.

  218. Number eight. God says that if I learned to give

  219. like he gives, he will multiply what I give him.

  220. He'll take what I give him, and he will multiply

  221. it and make it go even further. Now, there's so

  222. many examples of this in scripture that I don't even

  223. know which one to choose from. I could tell you

  224. about the story of the Jesus feeding the five thousand,

  225. where he took a few loads and a fish, a

  226. bread and fish, one boy's lunch, and he fed five

  227. thousand people with it. By he took it, he broke it,

  228. he blessed it, and he multiplied it. And throughout the Bible,

  229. God does this principle of multiplication, the miracle of multipation,

  230. many many times. He takes a little, and what you get,

  231. whatever you give God, he turns into a lot. So

  232. whatever you need more of, give it to God. Let

  233. me say that again, whatever you need more of, give

  234. it to God. You need more time, give your time

  235. to God. Put him first in your time. You need

  236. more money, give your money to God. Put him first

  237. in your money. You need more energy, give your first

  238. energy to God, and he'll multiply. You'll have more energy.

  239. You know. Throughout the Bible, God compares giving and generosity

  240. to planting seeds. Let me show you a couple verses.

  241. That's a very common metaphor. He says that every time

  242. you're generous, every time I give to God or to

  243. other people and need whatever, he says, it's like planting

  244. a seed. Tewod Corinthians chapter nine, verses ten and eleven

  245. says this, just as God gives seed to farmers and

  246. bread for food. God gives you a supply of seed,

  247. in other words, to plant. He gives you a supply

  248. of seed to plant, and then He makes it grow.

  249. So there's a great harvest from your generosity. And here's

  250. the rest of the promise. God will make you rich

  251. enough to be generous at all times. Now, you might

  252. want to write this down. Giving is not a debt.

  253. I owe, it's a seed. I sew. Giving is not

  254. a debt. I oh, it's a seed. I sew, and

  255. I sew it in faith. God doesn't need your money,

  256. He doesn't need my money. Then why does God want

  257. to teach me giving? To teach me to trust him

  258. and so I become more like him and to become

  259. more generous. Giving is not a debt. I owe, it's

  260. a seed. I sew. Now, when you plant a seed,

  261. do you get one seed back?

  262. No?

  263. You get a whole plant with a lot of fruit

  264. and eat in those fruits. There's a multiplication of seed.

  265. No one has ever planted one seed and got back

  266. one seed. If I take a kernel of corn and

  267. I plant that corn in the ground, I don't get

  268. one kernel of corn back. I get a stock with

  269. three or four ears of corn, with literally hundreds and

  270. hundreds and hundreds of kernels on that corn. This is

  271. the principle of multiplication. He says that if you'll take

  272. when you give to people, if you'll take your money

  273. and use it to help others, God says, I'll multiply it

  274. so that when it comes back, it's multiplied. You don't

  275. get one seed back when you plant it. You get

  276. one hundred or one thousand seeds out of that one blessing.

  277. Now here's the important part that I want you to get.

  278. God says, you can plant. I'm giving you just like

  279. I give a farmer seed to plant. I'm giving money

  280. for you to use for good. Money is a tool.

  281. Money is neither good nor bad. It's just a tool,

  282. and you should use money for good rather than bad.

  283. Any money I just spend on myself, it's gone. Any

  284. money I use for good is actually building an investment,

  285. and it's multiplying in heaven. But when you plant a seed,

  286. you reap a harvest. Now, God lets you decide the

  287. size of your harvest. It just all depends on how

  288. much seed you plant. Here's what the Bible says. Tewod Corinthians,

  289. chapter nine, verse six. Remember this. Okay, Now, anytime the

  290. Bible says remember this, God wants you to remember it.

  291. Remember this. Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and

  292. whoever sows generously will also reap generously. That means God says,

  293. you get to decide. I get to decide how much

  294. God blesses my life. And how do I decide how

  295. much God blesses my life by my giving? If I

  296. sow just a few seeds, then I'm going to reap

  297. a small harvest. If I sow a lot of seed,

  298. if I give a lot away, then I'm going to

  299. reap generously. The size of the harvest is determined by

  300. the size of sowing. God leaves it up to you.

  301. If you have little faith, then you get a little result.

  302. If you have a lot of faith, you get a

  303. lot of result. If you sow extravagantly, you get an

  304. extravagant result. Back now, in planting seed and waiting for

  305. the harvest, the harvest is never immediate. I want you

  306. to get this because a lot of people don't understand this.

  307. The harvest is never immediate. Seeds take time to grow,

  308. so you plant in one season, in the planting season,

  309. and you harvest in another season, maybe six months later.

  310. It's not instant. This is true in your generosity and

  311. your giving. It's not like I give something to somebody else,

  312. or give something to God today and this afternoon God

  313. makes up for it a slot machine where you put

  314. in the coin and pull the you know, the one

  315. armed bandit, and all of a sudden you hit the jackpot.

  316. God is not a gambling man with like like a

  317. like a slot machine. No, he is like a farmer.

  318. He says, you plant in one season and you reap

  319. in another. Look at this verse on the screen. Ecclesiastes eleven,

  320. Verse one says this be generous, and instantly you'll be rewarding. No,

  321. it doesn't say that. Doesn't be generous and what one day,

  322. one day, one day, you will be rewarded. There is

  323. always a time delay between sewing and reaping, between planting

  324. and harvest, between giving and receiving. Why is there always

  325. that delay? Because God wants you to trust him. Are

  326. you going to do the right thing? If you saw

  327. immediate results every time you gave, there'd be no faith needed.

  328. You know, you know, like this jackpot I put in this,

  329. I get this, I put in this, I get this

  330. this week. You know. I remember one time I was

  331. out on the patio after service and a guy came

  332. up to me after a message that I taught on tithing.

  333. And he came up to me and he said, Pastor Rick,

  334. tithing didn't work for me. I saw no return on it.

  335. I said, well, when did you start? He said, last Sunday.

  336. Last Sunday. You know that's not like a season away.

  337. God says, have you developed a habit of being generous?

  338. I want to see if you've developed this habit before.

  339. I'm not interested in playing games with you. Now. Let

  340. me just pause right here and share my personal testimony.

  341. I learned generosity at a very early age. As a child,

  342. my parents gave me three little envelopes and later three

  343. little piggy banks, and they would give if my allowance

  344. was three dimes or three nickels or three quarters, and

  345. then later it was three dollars. As I got older,

  346. one's envelopes was marked tithing, one envelope was marked saving,

  347. and one envelope was mark spending. And if I got

  348. that money. I was taught from an early age you

  349. don't get to go out and just spend it all

  350. on yourself.

  351. Thank you so much for listening to Pastor Rick's Daily Hope.

  352. We've got some incredible news to share with you. Very

  353. generous friends have given a one hundred thousand dollars matching

  354. grant to this ministry. That means all this month, every

  355. dollar you give to help Daily Hope share the transforming

  356. love of Jesus with people around the world will be

  357. matched up to one hundred thousand dollars. Here's Rick to

  358. tell you more.

  359. Hi, everybody, you know. As we come to the end

  360. of this year, one of the things that worries me

  361. the most is that there's still about three thousand people

  362. groups small tribes in the world where there are no Bibles,

  363. no believers, and no body of Christ. We call these

  364. people the unreached, unengaged people groups, and it's one of

  365. the reasons we started Daily Hope to take the good

  366. news to the final frontier. We need to make every

  367. effort to reach these people with a Bible, a believer,

  368. and a new church. Now, thanks to your support, we're

  369. being able to do this. Thanks to your support, we're

  370. now broadcasting on radio stations literally, not just across America,

  371. but all around the world. We're in places like Rwanda

  372. and Uganda. We're in places like South Sudan which has

  373. very very little, Zambia, Korea, things like that. But we're

  374. also reaching even more people and more nations through the

  375. world with our Daily Hope podcast online. It goes literally

  376. to the whole world. Now, as we've end this year,

  377. I want to express to you how much I appreciate

  378. your per support and your financial support of Daily Hope

  379. for this global I can't do it without you. You

  380. can't do it without me. And as you consider your

  381. year in giving, I want to ask you to pray

  382. about giving a special gift to Daily Hope. Together we're

  383. partners and going to the final frontier of people who

  384. have never heard of Jesus Christ. Now, the good news

  385. is this, a generous friend of Daily Hope is offering

  386. at the end of the year a matching gift. That's

  387. a challenge gift, which means they will match whatever gift

  388. you give. In other words, whatever you give will be

  389. doubled because of their matching that gift. So I'm going

  390. to ask you, I'm going to be very boldest give

  391. the biggest gift you can possibly give at the end

  392. of the year. At this Christmas time, God gives his

  393. gift to us. We give our gifts back to Him

  394. in Thanksgiving, and out of Christmas, we give our gifts

  395. to Jesus. It's his birthday. And when you do, it

  396. will be matched by a donor, doubling the impact of

  397. your gift. Thanks so much, and we're going to enjoy

  398. the end of the holiday seasons and we're going to

  399. enjoy the new year together. God bless you.

  400. You can give right now by going to Pastorick dot

  401. com or by calling eight hundred six hundred five thousand

  402. and four. We'll say thanks by sending you the brand
