  1. The further away you get from God, the more trouble

  2. you're going to have in your life, the more trials,

  3. the more difficulties, the more stress, the more things are

  4. going to go wrong because you're not cooperating with your creator.

  5. You're not following God's plan for your life. And the

  6. Bible says, the way of the unrighteous is rough, it's

  7. full of thorns, it's difficult, it's a rocky, rocky road.

  8. The further I get away from God, the more trouble

  9. I'm going to have in my life. On the other hand,

  10. the closer I get to God, the more my life

  11. is going to be transformed. And we can see this

  12. all through the scripture that Paul, when he finally met

  13. Jesus Christ face to face, he was radically transformed from

  14. a literally a terrorist, he was a religious terrorist, into

  15. the apostle of Love, who wrote the most beautiful poem

  16. on love ever written or penned by men. Was transformed

  17. from a depressed person into a courageous person when he

  18. met God. When he got close to God, Moses got

  19. so close to God the Bible says he was even

  20. transformed in his appearance, and people had to even look

  21. away from him. He almost like glowed, and he got

  22. so close to God that God is light, and in

  23. him is there are no darkness at all. He was

  24. literally physically transformed. Now, we all want to be close

  25. to God, but the Bible says, all we, like sheep,

  26. have gone astray. We've each turned into our own way.

  27. In other words, like sheep, we tend to wander. You

  28. don't have to teach sheep to drift off. They just

  29. do it naturally by their very nature. They just kind

  30. of wander off when the shepherd has to bring him

  31. back in, and they'll walk off a cliff, and you know,

  32. sheep aren't really that bright an animal. They'll walk into

  33. a den of wolves, and in all kinds of difficult

  34. and dangerous situations. Sheep tend to wander in. The Bible

  35. says all we, you and me, like sheep, tend to

  36. go astray. We don't tend to stay close to God.

  37. We tend to wander off. How do you get close

  38. to God? How do you stay close to God? And

  39. if you've fallen away from God, how do you get

  40. back in that close relationship to God? Some of you

  41. you can point to a time in your life and

  42. you go man. I remember when I was really I

  43. felt God's presence. I was close to God. I could

  44. sense his friendship, I could sense the fellowship, and there

  45. was a joy in my life. But I've lost that.

  46. You know. It's kind of it's like you let the

  47. air out of a balloon. How do I get back

  48. to God if I've kind of wandered away, if kind

  49. of lost the spark, Because if I'm not close to God,

  50. I don't have the power to make all the other transformations. Fortunately,

  51. we have a story in the Bible on how to

  52. get back to God and how to get close to

  53. the Father. It's one of the most famous stories in

  54. the entire Bible. Jesus told that it's the story of

  55. the prodigal Son, or sometimes it's called the story of

  56. the Loving Father, because it's really more about the Father

  57. than is about the son. And that story is in Luke,

  58. chapter fifteen. Let me read you the story, and then

  59. we'll pull some principles out of it on how to

  60. transform your life spiritually Luke fifteen, verses eleven to twenty four.

  61. Jesus told this story. A man had two sons, and

  62. the younger son told his father, give me my share

  63. of your estate now, instead of waiting till you die.

  64. So the father divided his wealth between his two sons.

  65. A few days later, the younger son packed all his

  66. belongings and left to live in a distant land. See,

  67. he's already getting away from the father. He's getting distant

  68. from the father. And he got as far away, basically

  69. as far away from the father as he could. He

  70. goes to a distant land, and there he squandered the

  71. gift he'd been given. And we've all done that, and

  72. he wasted his life and money on wild parties and

  73. reckless living. Now, about the time all his money ran out,

  74. a se fear of famine hit the land, and he

  75. began to starve because he was left with nothing. Now

  76. he's getting hungry now. The only job he could find

  77. was feeding swine on a farm, and he became so desperate,

  78. so hungry that even the pig slop he was feeding

  79. the swine looked good to him. That no one would

  80. give him anything for his hunger. When he finally came

  81. to a census, he said to himself, this is crazy.

  82. At my father's home, even the lowest paid workers eat well. Well,

  83. I'm over here far away dying of hunger. So he goes,

  84. I know what I'm gonna do. He says, I'm going

  85. to re turn home to my father and humbly say, father,

  86. i have sinned both against God and you, and I'm

  87. not worthy to be a part of the family or

  88. called your son. But please just make me one of

  89. your servants who works for you. So I'm not even

  90. gonna be a family member. Just hire me out as

  91. a servant. Make me one of your servants who works

  92. for you. And with that attitude, he headed back home

  93. to his father. But while the son was still a

  94. long distance away, he hadn't got all the way back home.

  95. His father saw him coming, and filled with love and compassion,

  96. he ran out to his son, threw his arms around

  97. him and kissed him. The son said, no, he's got

  98. his prepared speech. Father, I have sinned against both God

  99. and you, and I'm no longer worthy of being called

  100. your son. But the father said to his servants, quick,

  101. bring me the fine robe in our house and put

  102. it on him. Then get my signet ring for his finger,

  103. and shoes for his feet, and then roast the calf

  104. that we've been fattening up. We're gonna celebrate with a

  105. feast of eating and drinking. For this child of mine

  106. was distant and dead, but now he's back and alive.

  107. He was lost, but now he's found. And so the

  108. party began. Don't you love that story? Don't you just

  109. love that? Yeah, you can clap for the story. That's

  110. for Jesus. That's an incredible, incredible story, and it tells

  111. the story of how every one of us tends to

  112. wander away from our creator, wander away from the father

  113. who made us, wander away from the God who loves us.

  114. This kid starts off staying, God, our dad or father,

  115. I want you to give me much rightfully mine. It's

  116. all about me, give me my. It's a very self

  117. centered life. And that's where we usually start in life.

  118. Give me my, God, give me my. I want mine now.

  119. And we're by the way. We're in a hurry, and

  120. I want it and I want it now, and if

  121. I can't pay for it, I'll put it on credit.

  122. And so we're always in a hurry. Give me mine now.

  123. And so he takes off and he packs up, and

  124. he heads off for Sunset Strip in Jerusalem, and there

  125. he wastes his money and his time and his energy

  126. on wine, women and song, particularly women, and he really

  127. gets mets up and he hits the skids and he

  128. becomes homeless. And then on top of that, the nation

  129. goes into a national recession because there's a famine in

  130. the land, and now nobody has anything to eat, So

  131. nobody's gonna give a panhandler or a street guiding to

  132. eat because they don't have anything to eat. And then

  133. he can't even find a job. Things go from bad

  134. to worse. Finally finds a farm where he hires himself

  135. out to do the worst job on the farm, slopping pigs.

  136. Now for a jew that's not a good thing. That's

  137. not kosher, because you're not even supposed to touch a pig. Okay,

  138. you're not even supposed to have anything to do with pork.

  139. He gets the worst job a Jewish kid could get,

  140. slopping pigs, and he gets so hungry and he gets

  141. so desperate. He's going, man, this stuff looks good. You

  142. gotta be serious, seriously desperate if you think pigslop looks good.

  143. And it says nobody gave him anything. And then it

  144. says he wises up, and it says he came to

  145. his senses and he goes, shoot the servants, the poorest

  146. paid guys in my dad's employment eat better than this.

  147. What in the world am I doing? Now? He knows

  148. he doesn't deserve his father's love. He knows he doesn't

  149. deserve he's just wasted half of his dad's inheritance, all

  150. that his dad's burned his entire life working to earn.

  151. And he goes, I know what I'm gonna do. I'm

  152. not gonna go home and ask God to or asking

  153. the father to just accept me back in the family.

  154. I'm just go home and say, look, hire me. I'd

  155. rather be a servant in your house than be over

  156. here in a distant country, starving to death. And you

  157. know the rest of the story. As we saw the

  158. father's response. Now from this story we gain the four

  159. things you need to do to get back to God. Now,

  160. I don't know where you are today. You may be

  161. way way way way way way way way way far away.

  162. Maybe I haven't been in church in years and years

  163. and years, or maybe you are a little bit closer,

  164. or maybe you're a little bit closer, but maybe even

  165. you've just been distant for a week and you've had

  166. one of those weeks and you just thought, you know,

  167. I really don't feel God's presence in my life, and

  168. yet we all long to be close to God. How

  169. do I get back to him? You do these four things.

  170. This is the pathway back to spiritual transformation. Number one.

  171. I get fed up. That's the first. I get fed

  172. up with my life. I get fed up with my circumstance.

  173. I get fed up with the way I've been living.

  174. I just get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

  175. I am not gonna live this way anymore. I am

  176. too stressed out, I'm too lonely, I'm too depressed. I

  177. am overworked and busy, and I don't even like myself.

  178. Why would anybody like me? I don't even like me.

  179. I don't like the life I'm living right now. Now.

  180. Let me just say this, Nothing is going to happen

  181. in your life until first you get disad with the

  182. way you are. Nothing's going to happen in your life

  183. until you decide I don't like this. I'm tired of

  184. being stressed out all the time. I'm tired of being

  185. frustrated all the time. I'm tired of being overworked all

  186. the time. I'm tired of feeling distant from God. You

  187. gotta get desperate, you gotta get hungry, you've got to

  188. get anxious for change. Nothing happens until you get fed up.

  189. In that passage in scripture, it says this, he wasted

  190. it all, he had nothing left. He got desperate and hungry,

  191. and he finally came to his senses. And that's where

  192. transformation starts. Are you there yet? If not, it's okay,

  193. God I'll just leave. Let you stay there, and he'll

  194. allow a little rain in your life. And if that

  195. doesn't work, he'll allow a little bit more in your life.

  196. And if that doesn't work, he'll send the storm. Why

  197. because God loves you just the way you are, But

  198. He loves you too much to let you stay that way.

  199. He will not let you waste your life. And when God,

  200. you know, wants to come and get our attention, he comes,

  201. and he he knocks on the door, And if we ignored,

  202. he just knocks on the door again. And then if

  203. he we ignored, he knocks on the door again, and

  204. if we ignored, he blows the door down. Some of

  205. you have had the door blown down in your life.

  206. And you've lost your job, or you lost your marriage,

  207. or you lost a friend, you lost something. Why Because

  208. God does everything he does in your life out of love.

  209. He does not want you to miss him, and he

  210. does not want you to waste your life. You know

  211. the old phrase, you can lead a horse to water,

  212. but you can't make him drink, but you can salt

  213. his oats make him thirsty. God often makes you thirsty

  214. by putting salt in your oats. And when you start saying,

  215. I'm just so unsatisfied with my life, I just don't

  216. like the way I'm living. I don't like this. Hello,

  217. that's God knocking on your door. The first step in

  218. transformation is for you to get disgusted, to get discontent,

  219. to get fed up with the way you're living. Jeremiah

  220. twenty nine, verse thirteen says this. God says, you will

  221. find me when you get serious about finding me, and

  222. you want it more than anything else. See, God's not

  223. gonna reveal himself if I just kind of want to

  224. do it on the casual it's kind of a part

  225. time hobby. I gotta get fed up with the way

  226. I'm living. Say, there's gotta be more to life than this.

  227. There's got to be a better way to live than this.

  228. There's got to be asaner way to live than this.

  229. You get fed up. Second step. You own up first,

  230. I get fed up. Second, I own up. I own

  231. up to my own sin. I own up to my

  232. own sin. That's the second thing that this young man did.

  233. He goes, this is nuts, this is nonsense, this is crazy.

  234. I can't maintain this lifestyle I've been living right now.

  235. It's just not sustainable. It's not fulfilling, and it's not sustainable.

  236. When he came to his senses, and that is you know,

  237. he wakes up. You see, to live without God is insane.

  238. To live without God does not make sense. To live

  239. without God is not rational. To live without the creator

  240. who made you is not logical. It doesn't make sense.

  241. When he came to his senses, he said, I have

  242. sinned against God and you, and nothing's going to happen

  243. till you come to stage two. And stage two is

  244. you go all right, I just need to own up here.

  245. I need to face up to the fact that I

  246. have been not living God's way. I've been living my way.

  247. I've been doing it my way. I've been doing it

  248. the way I think is best. I've been doing it

  249. the way that protects all my fears. I've been doing

  250. it the way that tries to control everything around me.

  251. Even though I know I can't control it, I'm still

  252. trying to control it all. And I'm getting tired of

  253. holding onto all of the controls. I'm about ready to

  254. resign as general manager of the universe because I've noticed

  255. it isn't cooperating with me, and so I own up.

  256. And what do I own up to? I own up

  257. to my sin. When he came to his census, he

  258. said said, I have sinned now. In Isaiah fifty nine,

  259. verse two, there on your outline, the Bible says this,

  260. it's your sins. Your sins have separated you from your

  261. God and have hidden his face from you. Have you

  262. ever prayed and you felt like God was a million

  263. miles away? Have you ever prayed and felt like your

  264. prayers are bouncing off the ceiling? Have you ever prayed

  265. and felt like there's just like this veil between me

  266. and God. I can't see God, I can't hear God,

  267. I can't feel God, and I feel like I'm just

  268. talking to myself. Where does that come from? Your sins

  269. have separated you from your God and have hidden his

  270. face from you. That's where it comes from. It comes

  271. from your sin. If you feel far from God, guess

  272. who moved. God hasn't moved. God didn't move. God didn't

  273. go on vacation. God didn't move away to a foreign country.

  274. God has always been there and he has never not

  275. been there, and he loves you unconditionally. But if you

  276. few far from God, you're the one who moved, and

  277. you moved away by giving your love to something else.

  278. When you give anything else your love, there's a word

  279. for that in the Bible. It's called an idol. Now

  280. we think idols are like these little stone things that

  281. people bow down to in words no no, no, no no.

  282. An idol can look like your car. An idol can

  283. look like your job. An idle could be a dress,

  284. and idle could be the way you look. Anything that

  285. you love more than God becomes an idol. The First

  286. and second commandments say, thou shalt have no other gods

  287. afore me thou shalt not make any false idols. Money

  288. can be an idol, success can be an idol. Golf

  289. can be an idol. These are not bad things. They're

  290. just not deserving the first place in your life. So

  291. I own up to my sin. Your sins have separated

  292. you from your God. The fact is this, You're as

  293. close to God as you choose to be. You can't

  294. really blame anybody else. You can't blame your husband, you

  295. can't blame your wife. You can't blame your mom, your dad,

  296. the brother. You can't blame the government. That's one thing.

  297. You can't blame the government for you spell blame, be lame,

  298. and that's being lame when you blame other people for

  299. your spiritual condition. Well, if my husband were a more

  300. dedicated believer, really, well if my girlfriend was more on

  301. fire for Christ. Really, you are as close to God

  302. as you choose to be. And the fact is you

  303. haven't been desperate. You haven't been fed up enough to

  304. say I am desperate to know God. God. You know,

  305. if I were to hold you underwater, you would struggle.

  306. But when you really started running out of breath, you

  307. would really struggle because you would be desperate for air.

  308. When you're that desperate, you don't just get fed up.

  309. You own up and he say I've got to know God.

  310. You're as close to God as you choose to be. Now,

  311. when I own up and I say, God, I've owned it.

  312. I've been going my way. I've been I've been doing

  313. your way. I've been going my way. I've been doing

  314. what I want to do. When I do that, what

  315. is God's response to my facing up to my sin?

  316. He goes, yeah, Yeah, let me tell you what else

  317. you're doing wrong. No, he doesn't rub it in. When

  318. I come and I say, God, I've really you know,

  319. you know what I've done. I'm really sorry. What does

  320. he do? Well, look at the next verse. Here's the

  321. prayer you should pray, Psalm fifty one. By the the way,

  322. David prayed this prayer after he'd committed adultery and killed

  323. a wife's husband. So this is a pretty serious sin here.

  324. So I'm fifty one to one to four. David says, this,

  325. be merciful to me, Oh God, because of your constant love,

  326. because of your great mercy, wipe away my sin, Wash

  327. away all my evil, and make me clean. I recognize

  328. my faults, and I'm conscious that I have sinned against you.

  329. What's your circle of phrase? Recognize my false That means

  330. to own up. I face up to my sins. I

  331. own up to my sins. He says, I recognize my fault.

  332. And what is God's response when I own up? When

  333. I face up? Look at the next verse. The Lord says,

  334. no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I

  335. can remove it. I can make you clean as freshly

  336. driven snow. Not a beautiful verse. He says, no matter

  337. what you've done, no matter who you've done it with,

  338. I can I can remove it. This is this is

  339. the uh, this is the oxy clean versus the Bible. Okay,

  340. he said, man, I can take it out. You know

  341. that's stain. You think, Man, I'm never gonna forget that

  342. one bad and that was so bad and it's gonna

  343. haunt me the rest of my life. God says, I

  344. can remove that stain. This is the stain remover verse

  345. in the Bible. Now, doctors will tell you that every

  346. so often you need to go and get a check cup,

  347. and you need to have your heart checked every so often,

  348. and you had need to have your colon checked every

  349. so often. That's a fun one. Anybody want to give

  350. a testimony on that right now? Okay? Anybody have you

  351. know personal story from this week? Yeah? Okay, Uh, But

  352. you have to get regular checkups quiet because if something's

  353. growing wrong in your body, you want to know sooner

  354. or not later. Right And the same is true with

  355. your your life. If sin starts growing in you, it

  356. can become a cancer. It's better to nip it in

  357. the bud, like Barney Fiffe would say, before it gets

  358. really big. You gotta do this spiritual checkup on a

  359. regular base basis. And where do you do it. You

  360. do it in your thought life. It's a checkup from

  361. the neck up, and you got to think about your thoughts.

  362. Just like you need a physical checkup regularly, you need

  363. a spiritual checkup regularly. Tewod Corinthians five seventeen. Anyone who

  364. belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old

  365. life is gone, a new life has begun. Now that's

  366. a positional statement. What that means is God says you

  367. are a new person. Doesn't mean you don't have to

  368. stay the same anymore. You don't have to listen to

  369. those old impulses. You now have a new power in

  370. your life to make it through. The Bible says this.

  371. Test yourselves and make sure you're solid in the faith.

  372. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourself regular checkups,

  373. and if you fail the test, do something about it.

  374. I love that message paraphrase, and that's what we're talking

  375. about here. In owning up, the Bible says that before

  376. you take the Lord's supper that you should do a

  377. spiritual checkup every time. That this is a time to

  378. pause and not to just get fed up, but to

  379. own up and say, Okay, is there anything in my life?

  380. Pal one thirty nine, search me, Oh God, and know

  381. my heart, try me and know my thoughts. See if

  382. there be any wicked way in me, and lead me

  383. in the way everlasting. That'd be a good verse to

  384. memory someone thirty nine, three twenty four. It's a it's

  385. a search light verse. God says this verse in Second Corinthians,

  386. First Corinthians eleven. A man ought to examine himself before

  387. he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. So,

  388. in other words, we need to do this second thing.

  389. I get fed up, and then I do an own up.

  390. I get a face up to what I need to do. Okay,

  391. Now here's the third step to get in back to God,

  392. to getting back in his love and his grace. Not

  393. that he doesn't love you. He always loves you no

  394. matter where you are. But to feeling that love. Here's

  395. a third thing. I get fed up. I own up

  396. number three, I offer up. I offer up my life.

  397. I offer up myself. I offer up my total being.

  398. And this is a third thing that we find this

  399. young man did. He got fed up. He came to

  400. his senses. He owned up. He says, I've sinned against God,

  401. and then he offered up. Now. Notice in Luke chapter

  402. twelve fifteen, verse twelve, the son drifted away saying, give

  403. me my share. And in Luke fifteen nineteen, when he

  404. comes back, he returned to the father saying, make me

  405. a servant. Do you notice any change in attitude there? Hello,

  406. He leaves saying give me, give me, give me, gim me,

  407. give me, give me. He comes back, saying, make me.

  408. That is transformation. That is true transformation. When your heart

  409. moves from self centeredness to God's sinneredness, that's transformation. Are

  410. you there yet? Are you still in the gimme, gimme,

  411. gim me, give me, give me. What can God do

  412. for me? Give me my stuff now to make me

  413. your servant. That's the transformation. He returns saying make me.

  414. That's a heart trend and that is the greatest transformation. Well,

  415. from self centered to God's sendreness. Are you letting God

  416. do that in you? Now? That transformation it doesn't happen overnight.

  417. God is still working on me on this one, and

  418. it's gonna be your entire life. He's going to work

  419. on It's never instant, but there is a decision that

  420. starts the process. Second, Dreen these three eighteen says this,

  421. we reflect the Lord's glory and are being transformed. That

  422. means a continuing process. We are being transformed, not just once,

  423. but on a ongoing basis. It's a process. We're being

  424. transformed into His likeness now with ever increasing glory. And

  425. I leave that for just a minute, which comes from

  426. the Lord. Was the spirit that we'd transformed. You know,

  427. the Bible was written the New Testament in Greek. You

  428. know what the word there is in Greek metamorphous. Ou

  429. does that sound like anything? You know? Metamorphosis? It's the

  430. word we get met what's the metaphor of morphosis. It's

  431. when a butterfly goes from a caterpillar to a pupa

  432. a chrysalis, and from a pupa chrysalis into a butterfly.

  433. That's metamorphosis. It hadn't happened overnight. In fact, there's that

  434. stage where it's sitting there in that chrysalis, it forms

  435. that little cocoon. It's pretty ugly. Ever seen one of

  436. those things. It doesn't look very beautiful to me, But

  437. when it breaks out, that butterfly is stunning. I so

  438. badly want to be that, and I want you to

  439. be that. I want you to be transformed from the

  440. lowly caterpillar into the beautiful butterfly. That is what transformation

  441. is all about. It is metamorphosis. It is going from

  442. you know, when you're a caterpillar, what can you do?

  443. Not much except munch on leaves b boom boo boom

  444. boo boom boo, boom boo, boom boom, and you're stuck

  445. on the ground. And I'm sure when caterpillars have looked

  446. in the air butterflies go. You never get me up

  447. in one of those things. God made you to be

  448. a butterfly. God made you to soar. God made you

  449. to be beautiful, not ugly beautiful. But you've got to

  450. go through the transformation process and the transformation process is

  451. number one. Get fed up with the way you've been living,

  452. and then own up. Get honest to God. God, I

  453. admit I have been living for myself. I've been doing

  454. it my way, and do that check up and then

  455. offer up myself. Transformation is a process, but the starting

  456. point is what the prodigal son said. Make me. That's

  457. offer up, make me, transform me, change me. God, I

  458. don't want to live the rest of my life the

  459. way I'm living right now. Change me. Romans twelve to one.

  460. This is our theme verse, but let me read you

  461. the verse before it. Because God is merciful to you.

  462. Offer yourselves. Offer yourselves. That's it. I offer up myself.

  463. That's step one. I get fed up. Okay, I own up,

  464. and now I offer up. Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice,

  465. holy and pleasing to God. This is your spiritual act

  466. of worship. And don't be confis to the pattern of

  467. this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

  468. No transformation until you do the offer up. And it's

  469. important to notice the father's response. Luke fifteen twenty three.

  470. Filled with love and compassion, he ran out to his son,

  471. threw his arms around him and kissed him, and he said,

  472. bring the best, bring the best robe, bring the best

  473. bring bring the best shoes, bring the fatted calf. In

  474. all these things. The father's response. Notice he didn't wait

  475. for the son to come home while he was still distant.

  476. He ran out the moment you just.

  477. Say, God, I'm tired of living the way I have

  478. been living.

  479. God, I'm tired. He will do more than halfway. He

  480. will run out to meet you. God is not waiting

  481. for you to come knock on the door, or he's

  482. waiting for this moment in your life. He runs out

  483. to you, He takes an issue, He throws his arms

  484. around you, He kisses you, and he says, okay, look,

  485. I know you blew it. Go get the best rope,

  486. get the best clothes in the house. And then he says,

  487. go get my signet ring. Do you know why? He

  488. says that you know what a signet ring is. In

  489. those days, the signet ring was your credit card, because

  490. you take the ring and you press it into wax,

  491. and that was like a credit card. He said, go

  492. get my unlimited Black American Express and bringing out to

  493. my son who just blew half of my income. God

  494. doesn't holding the grudge against all the the dumb stuff

  495. you've done. He's ready to lavishly pour this on, bring

  496. out the best, bring out the bestes, do all these things.

  497. God has a better plan for your life than you

  498. can imagine. If you knew there was a better way

  499. to live than there is right now, the way you've

  500. been living, wouldn't you want to know about it? Yeah,

  501. that's what transformation is all about. People said, well, I'm

  502. living the good life, and you are. You live in America,

  503. you live the good life. You're looking good, you're feeling good,

  504. you got the goods. You know, there's only one problem

  505. with the good life. It isn't good enough.

  506. You were made for more than the good life. You

  507. were made for the better life.

  508. Life. You cannot even imagine anymore than that caterpillar can

  509. imagine what it's like to be a butterfly. You can't

  510. even imagine it. You cannot even imagine it. It is

  511. so much better. And there are people who live next

  512. to you and they got the car, and they got

  513. the cash, and they got the clothes, and they're going,

  514. I'm living it, I'm living the good life, and they're

  515. missing the better life. And then there's one other thing

  516. I do. Once I come home and I'm enwrapped in

  517. God's love, and he hugs me and he kisses me,

  518. and he says, bring out the best. All is forgiven,

  519. All is forgiven. Go get the credit card, Go get

  520. the rope, Go get the shoes. Let's let's have a barbecue.

  521. And in that celebration, you now come home, not the condemnation.

  522. You come back to God in celebration. Here's the fourth thing.

  523. I lift up my praise, and they just go, thank

  524. you God, thank you for your grace, thank you for

  525. your love, thank you for your goodness. I lift up

  526. my praise. Luke fifteen, here's what the Father says. We're

  527. gonna celebrate with a feast of eating and drinking. He

  528. was lost, but now is found. So the party begins

  529. and life becomes a party. When life comes to transformation.

  530. The Bible says in Psalm sixty eighty four, sing to God,

  531. sing praises to his name. Lift up. There's that word,

  532. lift up my praises, lift up a song to him.

  533. His name is the Lord. Now the Father celebrated. He

  534. had a celebration, not a condemnation. A celebration when the

  535. son came back home. I'm fed up and I'm owning up,

  536. and I'm gonna offer up and now I lift up

  537. my praise and we're gonna party, and we're going to celebrate,

  538. and we're going to sing. Let's bow our heads for prayer. Father.

  539. When we think of your grace, we are overwhelmed. It

  540. makes our hearts want the same. There's no way that

  541. we deserve this kind of reaction, this kind of celebration,

  542. this kind of welcoming when we come home. But we

  543. come to you, and first we say we're fed up.

  544. We're fed up with the way we've been living. We're

  545. fed up of life without Christ. We're fed up with

  546. doing it all on our own power. We're just fed

  547. up with all of that. And we own up. We

  548. realize that you haven't moved, but we have. And now

  549. the reason we're not close is because we've allowed other

  550. things to cloud our vision of you. We have allowed

  551. idols in our lives. We have loved other things more

  552. than you, and that has made you feel distant. But

  553. we come back and we own up to our sin,

  554. and then we offer up ourselves. We're not saying give me,

  555. give me, give me anymore. We're saying, make me, make me,

  556. make me. If you've never accepted Jesus gift of salvation,

  557. say Jesus Christ right now. I accept your gift of salvation.

  558. Thank you for loving me and dying for me on

  559. the cross. I give myself back to you. I offer

  560. up myself to you. Make me your servant, and I

  561. ask you to transform my life. In your name. I

  562. pray Jesus Amen.
