  1. The Bible says, if you want to be more attractive,

  2. you need to learn to be more gentle in your life. Now,

  3. this is true in both men and in women.

  4. Now, one of.

  5. The laws of life is I attract what I am.

  6. I don't attract what I want. I attract what I am.

  7. If you want to attract a godly man, you have

  8. to be a godly woman. If you want to attract

  9. a godly woman, you have to be a godly man.

  10. You can't be some rude dude in a crude mood

  11. and say I really want one of those good women.

  12. Now you will attract what you are. And so gentleness

  13. attracts gentleness, and godliness attracts godliness. Now, since we've got

  14. a bunch of singles in this service for some guys,

  15. let me show you this one Timothy six eleven here

  16. on the screen. Here's the I'm gonna give a verse

  17. for guys and verse for guiles. One Timothy six eleven.

  18. As a man of God, and I want all of

  19. you guys to be men of God. As a man

  20. of God, pursue what God approves of, and then he

  21. gives you the five marks of a godly man. This

  22. is Paul talking to Timothy. He's mentoring his son in

  23. the ministry. He says, pursue what God approves of. And

  24. here are the five things that make a godly man Godliness, faith, love, endurance,

  25. and oh, by the way, gentleness, gentleness. Now, he says,

  26. God approves of godliness. What is God in thiss? It

  27. means I'm trying to let Jesus live through me. And

  28. then he says, another mark of a man of God

  29. is faith. I trust God in every area of my life.

  30. Another mark of a man of God is love. You're loving,

  31. You're unselfish. Another mark of a man of God of endurance.

  32. You don't give up, you don't quit. You have endurance,

  33. you have diligence, you have determination. And then one of

  34. the marks of a man of God is gentleness. That

  35. is strength under control, and that is attractive. Now, I

  36. don't want to belabor this point, but for you single guys,

  37. I'm gonna give you a little advice tonight, because doctor

  38. Love is in the house, all right, Doctor Ricky Love.

  39. Here he is. Guys, if you want to attract.

  40. A good woman, you need to do what Boaz did?

  41. Who Boas? Where is he in the old Deskma, where

  42. is it? Look it up? No, No, I'll tell you.

  43. I'll tell you.

  44. Bo As is in the Story of Ruth, named after her.

  45. In the Book of Ruth. Now here's the story of Boaz.

  46. Boas is a young businessman and he is pretty successful,

  47. and he's got a wheat farm and he's doing a

  48. good job, and he's got he's got his business interest

  49. going pretty good. And one day he looks out on

  50. his field and he sees some stragglers taking wheat from

  51. his crop. Now, he'd already harvest the crop, but there's

  52. a little left over. And a lot of times homeless

  53. people are very poor. People would go out into the

  54. fields that had already been harvested and find the little extra.

  55. This is called gleaning.

  56. And he looks out and he sees one of these

  57. people is a woman named Ruth. And she's very, very

  58. poor because her husband has died. She's a widow, she's young,

  59. but her husband has died. And Ruth decides, I'm going

  60. to take care of my aged mother in law.

  61. My husband has died.

  62. She has no legal responsibility to take care of her

  63. mother in law, but she goes, this is what God

  64. would want me to do. So, I'm going to take

  65. care of my aged mother in law, even though my

  66. young husband has died. And so she's out out here

  67. picking grains in the fields in bo As' this field. Now,

  68. bo As could have gone out. He could have been rude.

  69. He could have been ruthless. He could have been demanding,

  70. and he could have said, get off my property. This

  71. is my property. You don't have any right to be

  72. harvesting my grain. It's my grain, and if I want

  73. to leave it out, there can. But he was not rude,

  74. he was not ruthless. He was not crude. In fact,

  75. he was gentle with Ruth. And not only does he

  76. allow her to pick, he says, I got enough, Let

  77. her pick some grain on my crops. Go ahead and

  78. let her do. He then commends her. He compliments Ruth

  79. for taking care of her aged mother in law, and

  80. he compliments her, and he's very kind, and if you

  81. read the whole story, he's very gentle with this total stranger.

  82. And so then Ruth responds this way.

  83. In Ruth Chapter two, verse thirteen fourteen, Ruth said to Boaz,

  84. you're very kind to me. You have made me feel better.

  85. You have made me feel better by speaking gently to me. Pause, guys,

  86. A woman always feels better when you speak gently to her,

  87. when you're not in a hurry, when you're not rushing,

  88. you're not rude, you're not forceful. A woman always feels

  89. better when you speak gently to her. You have made

  90. me feel better by.

  91. Speaking gently to me, and so it's going good.

  92. So Boas invites her at the lunch And then at lunchtime,

  93. Boaz says to Ruth, come have a piece of bread

  94. with me, and dip it in the sauce. Now you

  95. thought fondue was Swedish two thousand years before anybody said

  96. the word fondu. Boas is dipping in the sauce with Ruth,

  97. and it says, then Boas pastor some roasted grain to eat,

  98. little granola, and she ate it until she was satisfied,

  99. and she still had food left. He gives her a

  100. doggie bag. Now this is a good thing. He's being kind,

  101. he's being gentle. Now here's an interesting thing out of that?

  102. Simple is it? Because he was kind?

  103. Because he was gentle, they end up becoming an item,

  104. falling in love and getting married. Now, why is that

  105. story even in the Bible? Because Ruth was not even Jewish,

  106. and it was illegal for a Jewish man Boaz to

  107. marry a non Jewish woman, but he did, and God had.

  108. A plan in it.

  109. And in Matthew chapter one, where it gives the genealogy

  110. of Jesus Christ the Messiah, there are four women mentioned

  111. in that genealogy and one of them is not even Jewish.

  112. Her name is Ruth, and God used that marriage as

  113. one of the marriages to bring the Messiah into the world.

  114. In fact, Ruth had a grandson and his name was

  115. King David, King David, And it all happened because Boaz

  116. was gentle with a woman he didn't even know.

  117. Here's the point.

  118. If Boaz had been ruthless, he would have been ruth less.

  119. I've waited all week to share that with you. Okay,

  120. come on, that's pretty good.

  121. Right, Okay.

  122. If Boaz had been ruthless, he would have been ruth less,

  123. and all of that history would not have happened. But

  124. it all started with him just being gentle. Would you

  125. write this down. Gentle Men are gentlemen. Gentlemen are gentlemen.

  126. The way you become a gentleman is by being gentle.

  127. Now that's for the guys. Let me talk to you

  128. women for just a minute. Gentleness is attractive not just

  129. on a gentle man, on a man, but gentleness is

  130. attractive in women too.

  131. One Peter, chapter three, verse four says this talking to women.

  132. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within,

  133. the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which

  134. is so precious to God. Now I want you to

  135. circle the word on fading. God says, I want you

  136. to focus on unfading beauty. I hate to tell you this, ladies,

  137. but your beauty is gonna fade. In fact, all men

  138. and all women are beauty. Faith some of us are beauty.

  139. Start about year one. We recute as babies. But he says,

  140. there is an unfading beauty that is attractive. And what

  141. is that unfading beauty that is attractive The beauty of

  142. a gentle spirit. Gentleness is attractive. Number five. The fifth

  143. reason why you want to learn this quality in your

  144. life is it Gentleness communicates love. Gentleness communicates love, It

  145. diffuses conflict, it disarms critics, it's persuasive, it's attractive, and

  146. gentleness communicates love. Guys, those are her husbands and are married.

  147. The quickest way to improve your marriage. The quickest way

  148. to improve your marriage is to start talking to your

  149. wife more gently. It'll do wonders if you'll begin to

  150. talk to your wife in a more gentle way. Colossians,

  151. Chapter three, verse nineteen. Husbands, love your wives and be

  152. gentle with them. Any fool can be selfish, any fool

  153. can be rough, any fool can be rude. But gentlemen

  154. aren't gentle men. Now this is true not only in marriage.

  155. The key a great marriage is simply the union of

  156. two great forgivers, because you're going to hurt each other

  157. a lot in life. I've been married to Kay thirty

  158. eight years. I've heard her so many times, and she's

  159. hurt me so many times. But we're both great forgivers,

  160. and that's part of gentleness. Now, it's not only a

  161. key to effective marriage. Gentleness you're going to need this

  162. someday is the key to effective parenting. Never discipline, I

  163. said out of anger or out of frustration, but always

  164. gently out of love.

  165. Esian six'.

  166. Four, fathers do not irritate your. Children do not provoke

  167. your children to. Anger, now they don't do things that

  168. make them intentionally. Upset do not exasperate your children to resent,

  169. it rear them, tenderly gently in the training and in the,

  170. discipline and in the council of The. LORD i can

  171. honestly say to you THAT i never remember my father

  172. ever raising his voice against me growing, Up not one.

  173. Time did you ever get? Angry of course he. Did

  174. was he ever upset with? Me of course he was.

  175. Upset DID i ever really blow? It and have every

  176. reason for him to get at, many many, times almost

  177. a daily. Basis but he was a gentle. Man he

  178. had strength under, control and he would not yell at.

  229. Respect gentleness earns Respect proverbs, eleven verse.

  230. Sixteen.

  231. Women if you want to be respected as a, woman

  232. here's what The bible. SAYS a woman of gentle grace

  233. will be respected a woman of gentle grace will be.

  234. Respected that's also true of. Men if you want to

  235. be a leader in any area of, life you're going

  236. to have to learn what we're talking about. Tonight if

  237. you want to be a leader in the, church if

  238. you want to be a leader in, government if you

  239. want to be a leader in, business if you want

  240. to be a leader in your, home if you want

  241. to be a leader in your, community in your, school

  242. or in any other. Organization every great leader is a gentle.

  243. Leader the greatest leaders of all time were the most

  244. Gentle jesus being a supreme. Example but for, instance the

  245. greatest president in our history Was Abraham. Lincoln no one

  246. was more gentle Than Abraham. Lincoln and he even showed

  247. gentleness in the way he treated the Defeated southern states

  248. with respect and brought them back.

  249. In in a gentle.

  250. Way if he hadn't been a, gentleman that we haven't divided.

  251. Nation gandhi was a gentle. Person Martin Luther king was

  252. a gentle. Person George washington was a. Gentleman he was

  253. truly known as a. Gentleman and great leaders are Gentle you,

  254. know there's a story in The bible that you really

  255. ought to know, about and it's the story of a

  256. guy Named Ria.

  257. Bohm in The, bible.

  258. There was a guy Named King david who united all

  259. twelve tribes Of israel.

  260. And they became one.

  261. Nation and together the twelve tribes became quite, powerful and.

  262. They had a lot of, land and they were very.

  263. Strong it was the.

  264. Apex of the Power solomon, HAD i Mean Abraham david

  265. had a son Named. Solomon solomon expanded the empire Of

  266. israel and united the tribes even, more and they were

  267. at the greatest power at that point in.

  268. History they were the most powerful nation at that.

  269. Time solomon was the wisest man in the. World he

  270. was the wealthiest man in the, world and he was

  271. the most powerful man in the. World and he had

  272. this great united. Kingdom and Then solomon dies and he

  273. turns this, enormous huge kingdom to his young son Named Ria.

  274. Boham Ria boham had no experience.

  275. In leadership at, all and so he starts by doing

  276. the right, thing and then he does the wrong. Thing

  277. he starts by going to the older leaders of the.

  278. Nation they are called the, elders And Ria boham goes said,

  279. Look i'm just a young. GUY i don't know anything about,

  280. leadership And i'm thrust in this. Position would you guys

  281. tell me what DO i need to do to earn

  282. the respect of the nation and be the kind of

  283. leader my Father solomon and my Grandfather david.

  284. Were and he did the right. Things he.

  285. Listened he went to the, elders the, wise and you

  286. should be listening to older men and older women in your,

  287. life listening to them, always at every stage of your.

  288. Life and the elders of the nation say To Rea,

  289. Boem i'll tell you, what if you'll just do two,

  290. things the people will follow you. Anywhere first if you

  291. genuinely serve them and you show that you're there to

  292. meet their.

  293. Needs and, second if you always speak to them.

  294. Gently don't do a power, surge don't do a power,

  295. grab don't be on an ego. Trip speak to them.

  296. Gently he, said these people will follow you anywhere'll they'll

  297. be petty in your.

  298. Hands they'll do whatever you ask them to do as. Leaders,

  299. now that's the good thing he.

  300. Did the bad thing is he paid no attention to

  301. the advice of the. Elders and so then he goes

  302. to all the young. Guys he grew up with all

  303. of his, peers and he, says what do you guys

  304. THINK i should do? Now they weren't any wiser than he,

  305. Was they had no more experience than he. Did so

  306. he says to his, friends young, friends what do you

  307. THINK i should do as the new leader of this?

  308. Nation and the young men gave him the exact opposite.

  309. Advice they, said you got to prove that you are an.

  310. Authority you got to prove you have the right to be.

  311. King you got to be, tough you got to be,

  312. hard you got to do me. Demanding you need to

  313. lay down the law right now and let everybody know

  314. that you're in, charge and you. Can't you have to

  315. be unbending and you need to. Prove because you're, young

  316. you're going to need to prove that you are the

  317. authority and the. Leader and that's exactly what he followed that.

  318. Advice you know what. Happened the whole nation. Rebelled they

  319. went into riots and chaos and eventually civil, war and

  320. ten of the twelve tribes Of israel split from Rear

  321. broham's kingdom and started a whole new. Kingdom and that

  322. was the end of The United. Israel and from then

  323. on they have no more power as a. People why

  324. Because Ria boham refused to be. Gentle it was just

  325. a stupid. Thing, instead he threw his weight. Around, listen

  326. anytime you have to stand up in front of a

  327. group of people says excuse, me everybody in ther business,

  328. room in a, clubhouse or or in a, boardroom anytime

  329. you say excuse, ME i am the. Leader if you

  330. have to tell the people you're a, leader you. Ain't

  331. if you have to tell him you're. Not it he who,

  332. thinketh he, leadeth and hath no one following him is

  333. only taking a. Walk so leadership is, earned it is,

  334. learned and it is. Discerned it is never. Demanded if

  335. you demand that you're the, leader you're not a. Leader

  336. you're a. Dictator and that's a big. Difference there's ma

  337. being a boss and a. LEADER a leader leads by

  338. example and leads by. Influence, now gentleness earns, respect and

  339. the more gentle you, are the more respected you're going.

  340. To be as a.

  341. Leader the greatest leader in The bible, was of, Course.

  342. Moses moses Liberated israelites from four hundred years of. Slavery

  343. he took on the most powerful men in the world

  344. at that. Time pharaoh let my people. Go he had

  345. nothing But god on his, side and that was. Enough

  346. and he was, fearless and he was unafraid to go

  347. speak truth to. Power and, yet here's what The bible

  348. says About, moses the greatest leader in The bible numbers chapter,

  349. twelve verse. Three moses was a very meek and gentle.

  350. Man in, fact he was more gentle than anyone else

  351. on the face of the. Earth this is why you

  352. can understand meekness is not. Weakness gentleness is not. Weakness

  353. in The, bible there are only two people in the

  354. Entire bible who were called meek or. Gentle only two

  355. in the Entire. Bible you know who they, Are moses And.

  356. Jesus neither of them were. Weak jesus knew how to

  357. call the shots and turn the tables upside down when

  358. he needed, to and you, know turn over the money.

  359. Changers and he had no problem being. Strong he was

  360. strength under. Control here's the amazing. Thing moses is the

  361. only other man in The bible called. Meek and yet

  362. do you know what moses persistent sin. Was he had

  363. an anger management. Problem moses had a, temper a violent.

  364. Temper in, fact it is moses temper That god trouble

  365. throughout his entire.

  366. Life one Day.

  367. Moses got so, mad got so, angry he killed An.

  368. Egyptian he murdered a guy out of. Anger that's pretty.

  369. Angry another, Time god gave him The Ten commandments up

  370. On Mount. Sinai he came down and he saw all

  371. the people and they were, all, like you, know having an.

  372. Orgy and he got so angry at. That he throws

  373. down the Ten commandments That god had made for him

  374. and they break And god, says you're making the second, set,

  375. buddy it's. True and he had to go back up

  376. and he had to carve personally the second. Set god

  377. had given him the first, set but he broke him

  378. out of his. Anger another, Time god said that people were.

  379. Thirsty he, said, WELL i want you to speak to

  380. the rock and water will come out Of he, says, No,

  381. lord we've always done it another. WAY i want to

  382. do it the traditional, way and he struck the. Rock

  383. he got angry and struck the. Rock it was anger

  384. that Kept moses out of The Promised. Land she had

  385. a lifelong. Problem how the guy has a lifelong problem

  386. with anger be the only other guy in The bible called.

  387. Gentle here's the, reason and this should give hope to

  388. you who struggle with anger. Management moses was, teachable and

  389. when people spoke to him about areas of his life

  390. that needed to be, changing he didn't get angry back at.

  391. That he learned from. Them, now you may have a

  392. struggle controlling your. Temper the real issue is not. That

  393. the real issue is are you? Teachable and when somebody

  394. points out that you have a temper, problem do you

  395. humbly listen and respond with gentleness or do you get

  396. mad at that too and have a hissy fit and a.

  397. Cow moses was meek because he was. Teachable now there's number.

  398. Seven gentleness is a witness to. Unbelievers gentleness witnesses to.

  399. Unbelievers when people look at, you and non believers are

  400. watching you all the, time and they're watching to see

  401. are you any different than they are when you're? Understressed

  402. are you any different than they are when you are under?

  403. Pressure when you respond to pressure.

  404. With, gentleness that is an incredible testimony to the.

  405. World here's what The bible.

  406. Says titus three to Two believers should never speak evil of.

  407. Anyone circle that if you're a, believer not only AM

  408. i as a pastor not to do, That you're not

  409. to do. That believers should never speak evil of.

  410. Anyone that means you can't disagree with.
