  1. There's a line in the gospel today that is as honest as it gets.

  2. Jesus says, the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness.

  3. That's not about bad people.

  4. We're talking about you and me, all of us.

  5. Because we are all like the idea of light.

  6. We love the idea of light.

  7. We just don't always like what it reveals.

  8. Why?

  9. Because light exposes things.

  10. It shows what is really there.

  11. And sometimes it's easier to stay in the dark.

  12. Now, if we go to the first reading, the apostles are arrested, thrown into prison.

  13. Why?

  14. Well, not because they did something wrong, but because they were living in the light.

  15. They were speaking the truth.

  16. They were witnessing to the resurrection.

  17. And here's the moment.

  18. In the middle of the night, God sets them free.

  19. The doors open.

  20. They walk right out.

  21. If that were us, what would we do?

  22. Thank you, Lord.

  23. I'm going home, right?

  24. That's maybe what I would say.

  25. Or I'm going to stay quiet for a while.

  26. Let me lay low.

  27. I got the message.

  28. But the angel says something very specific.

  29. Go.

  30. Go and tell the people everything about this life.

  31. Everything.

  32. Not part of it.

  33. Not the safe version.

  34. Everything.

  35. And what do they do?

  36. They go right back to the temple.

  37. The same place they were arrested.

  38. The same place it could happen all over again.

  39. That's the difference.

  40. Do you see it?

  41. When you encounter the risen Christ, you don't just change your life, you change your priorities.

  42. This is where the gospel hits.

  43. Jesus says, People prefer darkness to light.

  44. Why?

  45. Well because light asks something of you.

  46. Darkness lets you stay hidden.

  47. Light calls you forward.

  48. Darkness lets you stay comfortable.

  49. Light calls you to change.

  50. That's the tension that we live in.

  51. Because part of us wants the light, and part of us wants to stay where no one sees too much.

  52. And here's the truth, you can't live both.

  53. At some point you have to choose.

  54. Why?

  55. Because it gets exhausting.

  56. The apostles chose and it cost them everything.

  57. They were arrested, threatened, pressured, but they didn't go back.

  58. So let me bring this to you because this is where it gets real.

  59. When you're life, you are are you choosing comfort over truth?

  60. Where are you staying quiet when you should speak?

  61. Where are you avoiding something you know needs to change?

  62. Where are you living half in the light and half in the darkness?

  63. Why?

  64. Because the resurrection doesn't just invite you to believe, it calls you into the light.

  65. Come on, step into it.

  66. But here's the good news.

  67. Jesus doesn't bring you into the light to expose you.

  68. He brings you into the light to heal you.

  69. That's the difference.

  70. The world will expose your shame.

  71. God reveals in order to be able to restore.

  72. So don't be afraid of the light.

  73. Don't avoid it.

  74. Don't run from it.

  75. Because the same God who opened those prison doors is trying to open something in your life right now.

  76. And the question is not, is the door open?

  77. It is.

  78. The question is, will you step into the light or go back into the dark when it's convenient?

  79. Because once you've seen the light, you can't pretend that you haven't seen it.

  80. And if you choose it, if you really choose it, you won't just be free, you'll start to live differently.

  81. And then people will notice.

  82. Wow, you really love the Lord.

  83. You love Jesus.

  84. And that's when you become a witness to the truth.

  85. Not perfect, but real.

  86. Giving testimony to the world of what Christ has done in your life.

  87. And then that's what changes the world.

  88. Amen.
