  8. The very first Christmas carol is what we call the Magnificat.

  9. This is a song song by Mary. And this series

  10. on the Promiseful Field, we're gonna talk about the four

  11. songs of Christmas, the four Christmas carols that we see

  12. in the Gospels, namely Mary's Song, kay Zachariah Song, sing Song,

  13. and the Angel's Song. So we will take a look

  14. at this four songs for the next four weeks, but

  15. for tonight we will discuss the Magnificat sung by Mary

  16. or Mary's song. Open your Bibles to the Gospel of

  17. Luke chapter one, verses forty six to fifty five. Verse

  18. forty six's and Mary said, my soul magnifies the Lord.

  19. That word magnify means magnificat in the Latin, and my

  20. spirit rejoices in God, my savior, for he has looked

  21. on the humble state of his servant. For behold, and

  22. from now on all generations will call me blessed, for

  23. he who is mighty, has done great things for me,

  24. And holy is his name. His mercy is for those

  25. who fear him, from generation to generation. He has shown

  26. strength in his arms, and he has catered the proud

  27. and the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down

  28. the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble state.

  29. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the

  30. rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his

  31. servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke

  32. to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.

  33. Just very briefly so that you will understand why Mary

  34. sung this song. It's a very beautiful song. The Bangandana

  35. Christmas Carol, Okay, this is a song of Mary, and

  36. I'll give you the background why this is so important.

  37. Heard singing the song. Remember when the Gospel of Luke opens,

  38. there was four hundred silent years intertestamental. We came from

  39. that series last month right or weeks by on four

  40. weeks Malachi four weeks. Right in between Malachi and the

  41. Gospels four hundred years where God was silent. God did

  42. not speak anything, but God was doing something in the

  43. background and the moment. The Gospels when it was written,

  44. it recounted the things that God declared are things that

  45. were happening. Now, two of those stories, as Jesus was

  46. about to be born, were about two women. Okay, Now,

  47. during this time, women were second class citizens, so they

  48. were not allowed to speak. You know, men is a

  49. very male dominated society, and so we see in the

  50. Gospels two women, Elizabeth and Mary, in their stories and

  51. what happened to them. Now, Mary, at this point in time,

  52. an angel visited Mary. But the angel Gabriel you know

  53. the story, and tells her you're gonna be with child

  54. and it's not any child, It's going to be the

  55. savior of the world. Can you imagine that? Of course,

  56. every mother who are mothers here? Can you raise your hand?

  57. Mother's Maha sama nana la natin are special, right, they're

  58. the most beautiful, the most handsome, the most gifted. But

  59. I mean the angel was declaring, your child is going

  60. to be a special child because it's going to be

  61. the savior of the world. Of course, Mary said, what

  62. I'm imagine this. Mary is around fifteen or sixteen years old,

  63. a teenager, of course, is bethrowed to be married to Joseph.

  64. Bethrow means, you know, engage officially, engaged to be married

  65. legally pero. They have not no physical contact yet. And

  66. so Mary was questioning, panomagayarion, how can this be? How

  67. will that happen? And so she was so distressed because

  68. of course women are more forward looking, futuristic, especially in

  69. terms of relationships and things connected to that. Mahame Joseph

  70. the divorced. I mean, you know the story. I'm just

  71. trying to I know what's gonna happen. It's gonna divorce me.

  72. I'm gonna face this craze. I'm gonna be ostracized. Go

  73. he did this? Did this owner? So re imagine the

  74. stress right in Mary emotionally. Of course, Joseph finds out

  75. about this when Mary's a good Joseph p Stai Holy Spirit,

  76. can you imagine? So, you know, Joseph be divorced, and

  77. so what happened? The Angel visits Joseph. Right, I'm just

  78. accounting for part of phrase. You can read it chapter one.

  79. You can read it on your own. But that's what happens.

  80. And Joseph and Mary visited by angel by the same

  81. angel Gabriel had two different responses and buying response Nila

  82. no axl tying angel because there are differences between men

  83. and women, right, but young men may problem. But when

  84. men have problems. When the angel told him this, you know,

  85. men like to go to their man caves. They like

  86. to be alone and think about the problem and sort

  87. it out. Some have self pity Ibanumann whatever. Okay, but

  88. so that's why when on a time of Bassai, Joseph

  89. after and after the angel visited in and a man came.

  90. Mary on the other hand, had a different response when

  91. the angel told her this, guess what happens the bo women?

  92. But e stress ko what do you do aside from

  93. shopping and eating? Okay, but in detO, but normally the

  94. first thing you do is you go to your girl friends.

  95. You go to your bff, right, you go to the

  96. people that you want to talk, You want to let

  97. it out. So that's what Mary does. She goes to Elizabeth,

  98. her cousin. She was probably thinking Nako and Elizabeth too

  99. what I'm going through. I mean, what will I tell

  100. her that I'm pregnant. But it's not by Joseph, and

  101. it's going to be by you know, a ghost. It's

  102. going to be the Father, and it's going to be

  103. the savior of the world. I mean, I don't know

  104. how to tell her, but women just open their hearts.

  105. So as she goes there and tells her what happened,

  106. Elizabeth is not surprised because something a miracle also happened

  107. to Elizabeth. You remember Elizabeth was also barren and beyond

  108. bearing age, there was also a miracle baby. So these

  109. are two miracle mothers. You get Elizabeth mus conti human right,

  110. kay Mary in Banglass. That's why when she recounted this story,

  111. the Bible says that the boy John, the Baptist, who

  112. was in the womb to Elizabeth suddenly, who was filled

  113. in the Holy Spirit. You can read that in the womb,

  114. he was filled with the spirit of God in the

  115. name Holy Spirit. Study it says it leaked to MALUNNAO, okay,

  116. it leaked in the womb of Elizabeth Spana Elizabeth, he

  117. declared Mona. That's why Elizabeth suddenly you know, blessed are

  118. you among women? For now on you will be called

  119. blessed Elizabeth. And I believe because of that, because of

  120. that that glaration, because in the midst of the distress,

  121. Mary's faith was elevated because she understood, Okay, you know,

  122. maybe God is really doing something. The cousin also has

  123. the same thing, something distressful hibapala if you just focus

  124. on the problem, on the things, on the situation, mad

  125. distressca But you know what's the difference. They focus on God.

  126. And that's why out of that declaration that you are

  127. blessed among women, that's when she gave and sang this

  128. song magnificat to magnify in the context of a very

  129. distressful first Christmas. It changed something change when she began

  130. to magnify God. You know, for us, Christmas can be

  131. very distressful, right sometimes you know yu manga of course,

  132. if you are if you are the owner of business

  133. human a thirteenth month makabonus and a the like or whatever.

  134. But atapos nagy year, maybe if you are a salesman

  135. quota or maybe because I guess aside from the traffic,

  136. maybe kulangyu whatever Christmas can be a very stressful season.

  137. In fact, do you know that the two months that

  138. there are most suicides are Christmas or December and February.

  139. For those who are very lonely and things are not

  140. going well in a festive environment, it could be the

  141. most stressful times. And that's why this becomes more important.

  142. How Mary responded to a stressful situation is to magn God.

  143. Magnify God. Mary was able to have a Mary Christmas

  144. because of how she responded. She summarized this in verses

  145. forty six to first forty seven. My soul magnifies the Lord,

  146. my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior. Let me tell you,

  147. whatever you're going through, whatever stress, doubt, unbelief, problems you're

  148. going through, we should take a look at how Mary responded.

  149. Magnify God. Now, a lot of times the enemy wants

  150. us to magnify the wrong things. The enemy wants us

  151. to magnify the wrong things because there are to two

  152. ways to magnify things. One is called a microscope. A

  153. microscope a microscope makes small things big, and that's what

  154. the enemy wants. He wants for us to make these

  155. small irritations, these small problems become big because you're muhamo

  156. and that's all you can see. And when something small

  157. becomes big, it removes God, and God becomes distant or

  158. invisible to you. All you see are your problems. All

  159. you see are your stressful situations. But when you say

  160. magnify the Lord, there's another way to magnify another instrument

  161. called the telescope. The telescope makes something distant become closer

  162. and we can see it for what it actually is,

  163. right like the stars or the moon or the sun

  164. from Afar palanatima itlam. But through a telescope we can

  165. actually see it. Wow a lao. When Mary says, Mary,

  166. to magnify the Lord, he does. What she's saying is

  167. not to magnify God, now to make a small God big.

  168. What she is saying is to tell us copically, magnify God.

  169. If you feel that God is far away and distant

  170. and small. When we magnify God, we begin to experience

  171. Him for who he really is. We begin to see

  172. the awesomeness of God. And when we see the awesomeness

  173. of God, those big things that's big problems that are

  174. facing us, we actually see it for what it really

  175. is tiny compared to a big and God, a gracious God. Amen.

  176. And that's why Mary was able to have a merry Christmas,

  177. because she chose to magnify God for who he is.

  178. Look at how he started. She started this. She started

  179. by declaring the names of God, the God that she serves,

  180. the God that she worshiped. Let's take a look at

  181. it again. For my soul exalts the Lord. My spirit

  182. has rejoiced in God, my Savior, the Mighty One, the

  183. Holy One. This four words. She began to declare, God

  184. is Lord over any situation. God is in control. Let

  185. me tell you, whatever is happening, you may feel that

  186. you're not in control. That's true, but God is in control.

  187. God is in charge. She began to declare, God, my

  188. God and my savior. Savior does not only mean salvation

  189. from sin, but salvation from things that have befallen you.

  190. God wants to save you even for those distressful and

  191. problematic situations. God is also mighty, the Mighty One, as

  192. it says in NSV. The Mighty One. God is mighty.

  193. There's nothing he cannot do. There is nothing impossible with God.

  194. And God is Holy, the Holy One of Israel, magnifying God.

  195. When she began to declare that, you know, those big problems,

  196. you know, in light of that God who's far seemingly

  197. far away, My God is Lord, my God is Savior.

  198. The problem becomes smaller. God becomes bigger. My God is mighty,

  199. my God is holy. Then you see things in the

  200. right perspective. You see the problems become microscopic, and you

  201. begin to see a big God for who he really is.

  202. And that's why when she recognize and declares this, when

  203. you magnify God, you several ways to magnify. You think thanksgiving.

  204. Some six sixty five says magnify the Lord with thanksgiving.

  205. But here in luke On she says, I read, rejoice

  206. okay over make God okay. Rejoicing magnifies God. So whatever

  207. your situation is, begin to thank God that in spite

  208. of that, that God is Lord, God is Savior. That's

  209. how you begin. And I believe as she went through this,

  210. she because she reflected on who her God is, she

  211. declared three things about God that made her so hopeful,

  212. that made her rejoice even more. And what are these

  213. three things? She began to declare that God is mindful

  214. say that with me mindful, it is a being. Our

  215. mind is full. Look at verse four to eight, for

  216. he has looked in the humble state of his servant.

  217. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed,

  218. for He who is mighty has done great things for me.

  219. You know. Can you imagine? The King of Kings and

  220. the Lord of lords has chosen because she lived in

  221. an obscure place. God's work of salvation began at an

  222. obscure place, in an unknown teenager, in the middle of nowhere. Right,

  223. such a humble beginning. The King of Kings, the creator

  224. of heavens and Earth, chose this teenager, chose even to

  225. dwell for nine months in the womb of that teenager.

  226. Let me tell you God thinks about you a lot,

  227. even as she is mindful of Mary his servant. He

  228. is mindful of you, his mindful, his thoughts are about you.

  229. His mind is full of concerns and thoughts and love

  230. about you. That's what Ps. Chapter eight says. What is

  231. man that you are mindful of him? And the son

  232. of Man that you care for him? This is actually

  233. what Mary was saying. I'm just a humble observant. How

  234. how Lord, why someone hundred and thirty nine says, four

  235. precious are your thoughts about me? Concerning me? Concerning you?

  236. Do you know that? Maybe you don't realize it, maybe

  237. because of what you have experienced, maybe of the negative

  238. things that you've encountered. D to Van saying, are you

  239. in the last this year? You think that God thinks highly?

  240. Maybe can alimta the Lord. Maybe God does not hear me.

  241. Maybe God does not really care about me. But let

  242. me tell you the Bible says otherwise, how precious to

  243. me are your words? If I were to count them,

  244. they would be as numerous or more numerous than the

  245. sand in the seashore, mas Madam, But easy the Lord,

  246. dono ka bou hangin, then a'sa beach. Can you imagine

  247. that God is thinking about you? You're the back. God

  248. is thinking about you, and his thoughts about you are not.

  249. He's not saying Hinda Bible in late Nanamah. No, his

  250. thoughts about you are precious. His thoughts about you is encouraging. Wow.

  251. This is my son and my daughter. They're precious to me,

  252. and this is their destiny as they continue to follow me.

  253. God's thoughts for you are precious God is always thinking

  254. about you and remembering you. Who wants to know God's

  255. thoughts about you? Anyone? Do you want to know what

  256. God thinks about you? Can you raise your hand if

  257. you want to know? Okay, sir, what's your name? Jerome? Okay?

  258. Can you stand up? Jerome? Jerome? God just wants you

  259. to know that you know this season, you feel like

  260. as you serve Him, as you you tried everything, you

  261. feel like they're you've been being pressed, you have. You

  262. feel pressure in several sides, but the words even saying

  263. you know, even in that pressure, I'm I'm releasing a

  264. treasure inside of you because because there's something about your

  265. faith and perseverance and you feel sometimes you feel like, Lord,

  266. I'm gonna serve you no matter what, and God approves,

  267. and God is going to reward. Do not give up,

  268. my son, because I am a great rewarder for those

  269. who diligently seek me. I know your sacrifices. I know

  270. the times that you feel like you know okay, but

  271. you always want okay, the extra mile for me, and

  272. whatever you've done, it will return back to you because

  273. in the next three months it will be a season

  274. of returning back. It's gonna be coming back to you.

  275. The sacrifices that you have, those are the thoughts of

  276. God for you. Thank you. Listen. I don't have time

  277. to go around. Okay, see Francis n Lam Okay after

  278. the service doubtah okay, as I being thoughts to the

  279. God for you. Let me tell you you go. You

  280. can listen God, God's voice. You want to hear God's voice.

  281. It's through the Bible, because that's His word. You read

  282. it every day and you ask God, God, speak to me.

  283. Man does not live on bread alone, but on every

  284. word that proceeds from the mouth of God. You take time,

  285. that's just to read. When you pray. Don't just tell God,

  286. Lord Uncle, you slow down, you stop and you listen.

  287. Let me tell you God will speak to you in

  288. greater ways, more ways than you've ever imagined. That's why

  289. in the season, in the season, in the midst of

  290. the bustle, in the hustle of Christmas, you stop and

  291. you listen. And that's how you will come encourage and

  292. you will understand the mind of God for you not

  293. to harm You give you hope and the future. Right,

  294. That's what Mary understood this God, who is awesome, who's big.

  295. He's thinking about this humble servant. He's thinking about you

  296. and me. But not only that. God is not only mindful,

  297. but God is mighty. Say that we need God is

  298. mighty verse fifty one. For he has shown strength with

  299. his arm. He has scattered the proud in the thoughts

  300. of their hearts. Of course, it's very anthropomorphic. Or God,

  301. who is spirit, is given human qualities if you may

  302. the strength of his arm. In fact, the Bible normally

  303. says God's arm is not too short to save. That

  304. word strength that we're read in verse fifty one is

  305. a very important word, peculiar word in the original language kractos,

  306. which literally means the working of mighty deeds. That word

  307. strength literally means God is working mighty deeds for you.

  308. Imagine that, Hindi Lama ordinary Lord EuMA. You know, extraordinary

  309. even impossible things, mighty deeds. God is a mighty God.

  310. Let me tell you there is nothing impossible with him.

  311. You know. In the ministry that I am in today,

  312. in the spirit empowerment ministry, let me tell you I've

  313. seen more of these things than ever before. But it's

  314. not just for pastors, or for me, every single one,

  315. every believer, everyone who believes and puts his faith in me.

  316. This power is accallable. His strength is for you. His

  317. strength he wants to work mighty deeds in your behalf Mary.

  318. Remember Mary, how can this be? Angel? How can I

  319. become pregnant? I'm a virgin? And of course the famous

  320. reply in verse thirty seven and of Luke one, for

  321. nothing is impossible with God. You know the word nothing,

  322. but do you know what literally means? It means nothing

  323. while I'm impossibly by Lord, nothing is impossible with God.

  324. Let me tell you this very I like other translation

  325. in the New NIV of the verse thirty seven, the

  326. translation of nothing is impossible with God is for no

  327. word from God will ever fail. They know why nothing

  328. is impossible because whatever promised God has for you, he

  329. will fulfill it. That is what the series is all about.

  330. Promise fulfilled God is a promise keeping God. Every promise

  331. that he has said he will keep it. He never fails.

  332. No word of God will ever fail you. God's power

  333. is made manifest through his promises. If you want to

  334. see the power of God in your life, you hold

  335. on and have faith in that promise. Persevere, do not waiver,

  336. stand on his promise. Stand on that promise and watch God.

  337. Sometimes you feel like we're holding onto the promise. Do

  338. you know what? It's God's promise holding onto you, supporting you,

  339. making sure that you make it. It's not about you,

  340. It's about God. Do not waiver, Rejoice and declare and

  341. magnify God through his promises through the Bible. You know,

  342. let me share the story. I have a small group,

  343. a victory group when I was in victory Ta Tepunan

  344. and in You know, this is a very prayerful, a

  345. woman of faith when the prayer and one of her

  346. faith goals is that her blinks would get saved. Okay. Now,

  347. her siblings who reside in the US are top medical doctors,

  348. brilliant minds, talent and top medical doctors in the US,

  349. practicing doctors. But they both of them are atheists. And

  350. every time she would share with them, she would visit,

  351. they would always argue, you know, why are you trying

  352. to change us? Can't you just accept us? You know?

  353. Is that the kind of Christianity that you cannot accept

  354. who we are and what we are? So they and

  355. a stalemate and she would always get frustrated. But one

  356. day one I think one prayer and fasting, which will happen.

  357. This is January, when you come back by January eighth. Okay,

  358. this is a pray liude already, Okay, prayer and fasting.

  359. She believed God. She stood in the promise of God

  360. and Acts chapter sixteeded. But if you believe, you and

  361. your household will be saved. And for her it seems impossible.

  362. Because Taladan elumbress for years trying nothing happened. And so

  363. that year, you know, something happened to her. She actually

  364. went through what we call a thyroid storm if you're

  365. in a medical profession. There was something wrong with her

  366. thyroid and so she got hospitalized. And long story short,

  367. the carona water in lungs and she you know, had

  368. as fixation ogay. In other words, she flatlined for ten

  369. minutes because puna water in loss and she could not breathe,

  370. and so they had to they had to remove the

  371. water punch into her lungs before they can revive her.

  372. So ten minutes flat line, well up dead okay. And

  373. when they were able to revive her after ten minutes comatose,

  374. and so all the family came including the two brothers

  375. when they came doctors in the US. No more, there's

  376. no more hope. But the husband began to declare and

  377. stand on God's word. No Bible says in someone oh three.

  378. I mean, if you read someone O three, it's very

  379. very parallel to how Mary Okay magnifies. But anyway, it says,

  380. there reba, praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget

  381. not his benefits, who heals us, who saves us. And

  382. so every night he would declare, he would have a

  383. prayer meeting in the hospital. They were given favor, and

  384. so she would we would be there, and so every

  385. night you would pray, and you know what, the two

  386. brothers were there just observing in the prairie meeting because

  387. and you know what, after ten days, when the doctor says, well, Pagassa,

  388. she woke up from her comatos. And after that the

  389. doctor they took a look at her as well. She

  390. woke up. But she still, like you know, going to

  391. be like a vegetable or tanagual adam. She will not

  392. be able to go and live a normal life. But

  393. every day he began to pray, and you know what,

  394. there was a miracle within forty five days of declaring

  395. and standing on the word of God, she got home

  396. from the hospital fully healed. I mean, I not have

  397. time to tell our story. But because of that incident,

  398. the two brothers went to church and began to testify.

  399. You know, there's no way, there's no physical way this

  400. could have happened apart from a true and living and

  401. powerful God. Let me tell you nothing is impossible with God.

  402. Whatever you're going through today, that seems impossible, that seems

  403. too big, let me tell you God is bigger than that.

  404. I Behavian young lenznakinagamito. Okay, So God, Mary understood God

  405. was mindful of her, That God is mighty in her behalf.

  406. And finally, that God is merciful. Say that to be merciful,

  407. Louid of Verse. God exalted those of humble estate. He

  408. has filled the hungry with good things, and he has

  409. helped his servant Israel. Those three words, you know, I mean,

  410. who will God move for? He will not just move

  411. for anyone, but he will move for those who are humble,

  412. those who are hungry, and those who are helpless. In fact,

  413. there's a contrast here about the proud, about those who

  414. are arrogant. You know, the ministry of preparation preparing for

  415. Jesus I described by John the Baptist. Every mountain will

  416. be brought law and every valley will be filled up.

  417. God is in the business of exalting the humble and

  418. humbling the exalted. That's why I don't know about you,

  419. but I would rather humble myself under God's mighty arm

  420. and let him exalt me. Let him exalt you, because

  421. if you exalt yourself, then God will be the one

  422. to humble you. Because God opposes the proud but gives

  423. grace to the humble. That's the state of Mary. That's

  424. what God came in. And let me tell you, God

  425. does a lot better job at doing both about humbling

  426. and exalting people. But let me tell you this Christmas

  427. season is a season that feeds on the discontentment of people.

  428. That's why those commercials informercials, right, ads, But you need

  429. to buy this, you need to get this. This is

  430. a new model. Especially this Christmas season feeds on that discontentment. Right.

  431. But the only discontentment that we should have is a

  432. discontentment for more of God in our lives, because if not,

  433. then you will be running after the wrong things. We

  434. should be hungry for him. Only the hungry will be filled.

  435. Have you ever tried to go to vikings or circles

  436. or one of those buffet places. You will not be

  437. able to be space. Right, some of you need space

  438. for God. You need to make room for God in

  439. your heart. You need to make room for God in

  440. your life. In fact, that's another song of joy to

  441. the world. Right, Let every heart prepare him room. You

  442. need to make room for God. Don't just find a room,

  443. make room for God. Anyway, that's beside the point. But

  444. every the hungry will be failed. And God extends his

  445. grace and mercy to the humble, to the hungry, to

  446. the helpless. God, contrary to the saying that God helps

  447. those who help themselves, God helps those who are helpless.

  448. God looks and remembers, and is mindful and extends power

  449. and help to the helpless. And let me tell you

  450. as I close this evening, I believe God wants us

  451. to experience the true meaning of Christmas. That's why this Christmas.

  452. Instead of magnifying all these things, let us magnify God's greatness.

  453. God's graciousness, as revealed in Jesus Christ. Amen, what kind

  454. of songs are coming out of your mouth this Christmas?

  455. Maybe you song you Pascuna sta. We need to sing

  456. the right songs. What are you magnifying this season? Are

  457. you magnifying your problems or God's promises? Let me tell you,

  458. just like Mary, in spite of whatever situation you're going through,

  459. magnificant could be real for us as we magnify God

  460. in spite of what we are going through today. Let's

  461. a bow down and pray. Father, thank you for your word.
