-
If you're taken it before, take it again, it'll bless you. Luke,
-
Chapter six, verse seventeen. Actually, before we go there, I
-
did want to. Last week we were talking about the
-
power twins faith and patience and how important it is
-
to exercise patience or endurance, steadfastness, perseverance. I think the
-
word patience in our Western thinking, in our English vocabulary,
-
we don't really we tend to think a lot of
-
people tend to think of patience, well, I'm just gonna
-
wait and see what happens, and that's how they think
-
of patience. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens.
-
But that's not Biblical patience. Bible patience is we looked
-
at it, who promenade to stand under to its energetic resistance.
-
It's the power of endurance without complaint. It's cheerful endurance,
-
it's steadfastness, perseverance, endurance. Bible says to faith and patience,
-
faith and patience, we inherit the promise. Hebrews says we
-
have need of patients, says we need to run our
-
race with patients, fight or fight with patience, endurance, steadfastness,
-
and again towards the end, I mentioned that, you know
-
a lot of times people think that patience comes out
-
of trials, which is a religious tradition of men that
-
is unscriptural, but many people believe it. They bought into it.
-
It's a clever lie of the devil to get us
-
to somehow accept the trials as in some way instead
-
of resist them and fight them. And I just touched
-
on that. I did want to just add a couple
-
things before move on. If you didn't get here, we
-
weren't here and didn't hear that message, I'd encourage you
-
to get it in the bookstore, listen to it online.
-
The power to win faith and patience because when it
-
comes to healing, the force of patience and during steadfastness
-
is so critical. You're there on Luke six, hold your place,
-
or go to Romans fifteen. Romans fifteen, and we'll look
-
at this first. In the King James, and then in
-
the NIV brings it out. Well, there's many other translations.
-
That's the subtle change there that don't quite get in
-
the NIV. But I said that patience, of spiritual force
-
of patience doesn't come from trials. It comes from the
-
Word of God, from the Spirit of God, from God himself. Now,
-
the religious thinking is, well, trials produce patients, and there's
-
no scripture that says that, the scripture that people have
-
twisted to say that, But when you really examine what
-
it's saying, it's not saying that. And I wanted to
-
just highlight a couple of scriptures before we get into
-
tonight's lesson to buttress what I said last week that
-
patience comes from the Word of God. Look at Romans fifteen,
-
verse four. For whatever things were written in earlier times
-
or four time, were written for our learning that we
-
through patience and comfort of the scriptures. Notice that through
-
patients of the scriptures. If word patients is a word,
-
who pominatee through patients of the scriptures. Notice it doesn't
-
say that we through the patients that comes from trials
-
or the patients from trials. It doesn't say that says
-
patients of the scriptures might have hope. Look at it
-
in the NIV. We'll put that up on the screen
-
because it brings it out in a little clearer from the
-
King James Romans fifteen to four. The NIV for everything
-
that was written in the past was written to teach us. Notice,
-
so that through endurance and the encouragement of the scriptures,
-
the endurance, the patience, the steadfastness, the perseverance of the scriptures,
-
not of trials of the scriptures, we might have hope.
-
Then if you look at the next version and keep
-
it up an NIV verse five, May the God who
-
gives endurance, who promenade patience, steadfastness, perseverance, God gives it,
-
not trials. I mean again, if trials produced patience, endurance, steadfastness,
-
we should be praying for more trials. By want me
-
to pray to to have more trials, Stand up and
-
I'll pray with you right now. You have more trials. Again,
-
if trials produced steadfast and endurance, nobody would have need
-
of patience because anybody's had plenty of trials. Nowhere the
-
scriptures are that we told pray for trials so you
-
might have more patience no patience comes patience steadfastened and
-
comes from scriptures from the God of patience, the God
-
who gives endurance and encouragement, give your spirit of unity.
-
And on it goes Revelations three ten. As a matter
-
of fact, the word of God is referred to as
-
the Word of his patience, the word of his patience.
-
Now let's look at one more James, Chapter one. This
-
is a scripture that gets mangled by religious tradition many times,
-
and I don't have the adequate time to elaborate on it.
-
I'm going to touch on it just maybe we'll get
-
into it. We probably will get into this when we
-
look at roadblocks the healing in one of the future
-
healing sessions healing school sessions. But just notice James, Chapter one,
-
verse two. I'm in the king, James, my brethren, count
-
it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations or
-
test trials. In fact, my Bible updates certain phrases, and
-
it's got count it all joy when you fall into
-
various trials. Knowing this that the trying or the testing
-
of your faith worketh patients. But let patients have a
-
perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire wanting nothing. Now,
-
here's how tradition reads this. Verse two, here's how the
-
traditions of men read it, My brethren, it is a
-
joy when God leads you into temptations, tests and trials.
-
It is a joy when God allows and brings temptations,
-
tests and trials into your life. It doesn't say that
-
James wasn't a masochist. He didn't say, oh, it's just
-
it's such a joy to have temptations, tests and trials.
-
But that's how tradition reads it, and it is a joy.
-
In fact, they tell you, oh, just rejoice when the
-
devil's beating over the head and you're going through all
-
kinds of hard times, just rejoice. And it's not a joy.
-
You're laying in a hospital sick, that's not a joy.
-
You just survived the car accident, Well you can be
-
happy you survived it, but it's not a joy to
-
be in one and on and on. It doesn't say
-
it is a It says count it a joy. The
-
word count is a Greek word which means to lead
-
before the mind, or to consider or to esteem. It
-
says it's It doesn't say it is a joy, but
-
for the sake of the force of praise and joy.
-
Consider it a joy. Say no, I'm going to rejoice
-
in this. I'm going to praise God for the victory
-
in this. Say it's in the ear of sickness or disease,
-
that's not the joy. But consider it a joy. Begin
-
to say, Lord, I praise you for my healing. I
-
thank you by your stripes. I'm healed. I'm considering this
-
a joy that I can come through this trial victorious.
-
I can overcome it. And notice it doesn't say when
-
God puts it on you were God allows it into
-
your life for some sovereign, unknown reason. When you fall,
-
when you fall, not God leads you when you fall,
-
when you fall in the diverse temptation, tests and trials,
-
go ahead and get the force of joy working, because
-
the joy of the Lord is your strength, and the
-
word temptations also means tests and trials Verse three. Knowing this,
-
we can counted a joy. Knowing this that the trying
-
of your faith worketh patience. Now, notice what it does
-
not say the trying of your faith produces patience. Now,
-
if you've got translation that says that it's wrong, I've
-
studied it out into Greek. That word worketh does not
-
mean produce. If it does, we got a major problem
-
because in Philippians two twelve, the same Greek word translated
-
worketh is rendered work out your own salvation with fear
-
and trembling, work out your own salvation with fear. And
-
so if the word worketh here means you know what
-
that's saying, produce your own salvation, we got a problem
-
now because we're saved by grace, not through works, say
-
by faith. So if that word works means produced, and
-
it says produce your the same word and Flippings two twelve,
-
it would have to say produce your own salvation. No,
-
it's translated properly there it says worked out. What this
-
is saying, knowing that the trying of your faith works
-
out patience. When we go through trials, test temptations, it
-
works out the patience that has been worked in by
-
the scriptures and the God of patience. Assuming we've done
-
our work, assuming we've gotten into the word of God,
-
assuming we've spent time with God and he's we've allowed
-
him to work patience who prominade into us, then we
-
encounter a trial, and that spiritual force of patience endurance
-
head fastness, perseverance rises up and it goes to work.
-
Now what happens when it goes to work? Verse four?
-
But let patience have her perfect work. Let it go
-
ahead and work. And what will be the end result
-
is you let at endurance, steadfastness, perseverance, at who Pomenae
-
have her perfect work. You will be perfect and entire,
-
wanting nothing? Whoa wanting nothing? It'll get you out of
-
the trial. How do I know that? Because if the
-
patience and the faith won't get you out of the trial,
-
you'd still be wanting something. You'd be wanting out of
-
the trial. But you're wanting nothing now because patience and
-
endurance Pomenae has had her perfect work. And now you
-
are perfect and entire. You've come through the trial victoriously,
-
faith and patience inherited the promise, and you want nothing.
-
Glory to God, hallelujah. Now I've never seen this before
-
until this week. I was doing some is in my
-
morning devotions and I was doing some reading and this
-
just dropped into me and I thought, oh, there's more
-
light on that passage. Notice if the trials were the
-
ones that were good for us, like people say, oh,
-
the trials are good. I mean, I've read authors of
-
best selling books say it. I've heard them say it
-
on Christian television. It's everywhere almost that the trials somehow
-
are good for us. We don't fully understand. But God
-
brings it into our life, or God allows it, or
-
God has some unknown sovereign purpose because he's perfecting us
-
and producing character in us through the trials. No, that's
-
what the Word does, that's what the Spirit does. God
-
doesn't need the devil. The trials come, Jesus told us.
-
He said, the devil comes to steal the Word of God,
-
and trials and tribulation and pressure arises for the Word's sake.
-
The devil trying to get the Word out of our life.
-
Mark chapter four. Notice it's the trying of your faith.
-
You know what's really on trial. It's not you, it's
-
your faith. The devil's after your faith because if he
-
can get your faith, he can get you. Doesn't say
-
you're necessarily on trial, says the trying of your faith.
-
The devil's trying to steal your faith. But if it
-
was the trials that made us perfect and entire and
-
got us through, what knew what this would say? Let
-
the trials have their perfect work. I thought, I never
-
saw that before. That's what it would say. If it
-
was the trials that were producing all the good, it
-
would say, go ahead, let the trials have their perfect work.
-
That you may be perfect entire wanting nothing. But it
-
doesn't say that. You see how we read stuff into
-
the scriptures that isn't even there. People put on these
-
religious glasses and these traditions of men because so many
-
times they've been seminary trained with just more tradition and more.
-
You know, we had well, we had that video series
-
The God who Speaks, and that guy on the video
-
series said that, how did he say it? He said
-
it took him ten years to unlearn what he learned
-
in four years or something like that. And I told
-
you I had a guy that went through seminary. He said,
-
I had to unlearned ninety eight percent of what they
-
taught me. So it doesn't say the trials have their
-
perfect well, says let the patients the force of who
-
promenade have a perfect work. You'll be perfect entire wanting nothing.
-
And I'll just throw in one more nugget here and
-
we'll move on verse five. If any of you lack wisdom.
-
Let him ask of God that gives to all men liberally,
-
and a braid'sknot, and it shall be given him, and
-
we're gonna have time. But it goes on to say,
-
make sure you're asking faith without waving. Got it? When
-
you ask for wisdom in a situation, you got to
-
believe you receive, right, Then you can't waver and say, well,
-
I hope he gets it. He does. I hope I
-
know you say I believe I received wisdom. Now this
-
almost seems as you read this passage, you think, what
-
hits like he changed horses in midstream. It's like, why
-
do you start talking when he's talking about patience and
-
going to come through trials, and all of a sudden
-
he start talking about wisdom. Well, what he's talking about?
-
This word wisdom is a Greek word sophia, and what
-
w Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament word says, one
-
of the meanings of sophia is insight into the true
-
nature of a thing. When you're in a trial, sometimes
-
you're thinking, what is going on here? How did this happen?
-
How did this door get opened? How do I get
-
out of this mess? What do I need to do.
-
You need Sophia, You need wisdom, and he says, if
-
you lack that wisdom, that insight into the true nature
-
of what's going on, ask of God. The little Greek says,
-
Ask of the giving God, who gives you all men liberally,
-
and a braid's notot and it shall be given you.
-
Sometimes when you're in a trial, or sometimes when you're
-
dealing with sickness or disease or financial lack or something
-
like that, or things just he going wrong in your life,
-
instead of just trying to get an instantaneous healing, will
-
say say God, what's going on here? How's this getting in?
-
How's the door opened to the enemy, what's happening here?
-
It's good to pray, say, Lord, is there's something in
-
the natural that I need to do or stop doing?
-
Show me, because sometimes God can heal somebody just keep
-
doing the very thing that got him in that mess
-
in the first place. Like the classic illustration I give
-
the guy that smokes cigarettes and he's got a lung problem,
-
and he says, Oh, God, heal my lungs. If God
-
were to heal his lungs and he kept smoking, he'd
-
still have the problem. So we need wisdom, Sophia to
-
know what's going on sometimes. And if you don't get
-
anything when you ask, don't fret or fuss or try
-
and dig something up. Say Lord, I'm just trusting you
-
to show me if I'm missing it somewhere. I need
-
to know something Other than that, I'm just going to
-
keep standing. I'm going to keep believing. Don't get under condemnation.
-
Don't let the devil beach you over the head like, oh,
-
you must got some terrible sin in your life, and
-
you'll know it if you do. Don't try and manufacture something,
-
all right, So that's just about patience. Go back to
-
Luke's six. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming
-
Luke chapter six here and be healed. Hallelujah. We didn't
-
even start to read that, did well? Okay, that's good
-
Luke six seventeen. And he came down with them. Jesus
-
came down with them and stood in the plane and
-
the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of
-
people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the
-
seacoast of Tire and Sidon. Now, notice a great multitude.
-
How many is a multitude? While scripture indicates a multitude
-
is about a thousand or more. How much would a
-
great multitude be. There's a lot of people, And notice
-
this great multitude came to hear him and to be
-
healed of their diseases. They came to hear and be healed,
-
To hear and be healed. Circle that or underline that
-
phrase here and be healed, Here and be healed. That's
-
the theme for tonight, the message title tonight, and the
-
theme for these next eight sessions of healing school. Here
-
and be healed. It's not some clever phrase that I
-
made up. It's right out of the word here and
-
be healed. Here and be healed. They came to hear
-
and be healed of their diseases, and they verse eighteen,
-
that were vexed with unclean spirits, and they were healed.
-
And the whole multitude sought to touch him, for there
-
went virtue or power out of him and healed them all.
-
That's Jesus, our healer, healing of all kinds. Notice in
-
verse seventeen, they came to be healed of their diseases.
-
Verse eighteen, those that were vexed with unclean spirits, So
-
that could be demonic oppression of any sort, or mental oppression.
-
Healing of all kinds, And it says verse nineteen, the
-
whole multitude sought to touch him. So who knows what
-
was in that whole multitude that they were dealing with,
-
And they were all healed. Healing of all kinds starts
-
with hearing. It starts with hearing. Now, most folk they
-
want to bypass the hearing and just go right to
-
the healing. Sometimes you don't need to be seeking the healing,
-
you need to be seeking the hearing. Why do I
-
say that Romans ten seventeen. What's it say? Faith comes
-
by hearing? How are we healed by faith? Remember? Jesus
-
said to the woman with the issue blood, woman, your faith,
-
not my faith, not my power, not my virtue. Woman,
-
your faith. Yes, virtue had gone out of Jesus. But
-
he didn't say, oh, it is my great virtue. Woman,
-
at your healed? He said, no, woman, it's your faith
-
that has made you whole. He said to the blind man,
-
according to your faith, be it unto you. Faith is
-
the substance of things hoped for. Jesus said, whatever you believe,
-
you shall receive. All things are possible to those who believe.
-
Why do we need to hear? Because faith Romans ten
-
seventeen comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.
-
Proverbs four twenty to twenty two. If we don't look
-
at tonight, we'll look at it next week, It says,
-
my son, my daughter, attend to my word. Incline your
-
ears to my sayings. Let them not depart from before
-
thine eyes. Keep them in the midst of thy heart.
-
For they my words are life to those who find
-
them in health Hebrew word healing, medicine, remedy, and cure
-
rapha to all their flesh. Now, everybody wants to get
-
to the healing of all their flesh. But prior to that,
-
it says, attend to his words. Incline your ears to
-
his sayings, that they're not depart from before your eyes.
-
Keep them in the midst of your heart. Here and
-
be healed. Here and be healed. Now, what's Psalm one o.
-
Seven twenty say he sent his word and it healed them?
-
How did the word heal them? Because faith comes by
-
hearing the word of God. Now, if we harken back,
-
hold your placer and go to Exodus fifteen. If we
-
harken back to the beginning of the healing covenant, this
-
great revelation of yahweh Rapha, which we've talked about in
-
teaching on the Names of God on Sunday mornings. But
-
we go back to this healing covenant that God established
-
not only with the children of Israel, but with you
-
and I as yahweh Rapha or jehovah Rafa. The Lord
-
your healer, the Lord your physician, the Lord your doctor.
-
Is what it literally means, the word rapha, the he
-
your healer, your physician, your doctor. If we harken back
-
to that, Notice what so many people just gloss right
-
over it in order to get to the latter part
-
of verse twenty six. I am the Lord of healthy.
-
You know, everybody just like pretty much glosses over everything
-
that comes before that. Just I want to get to
-
the part I am the Lord that heals me. Oh, yes,
-
Lord heal me. But notice is the Exodus fifteen twenty six,
-
and He and God said, if say if say it again,
-
if say it again, if you gotta circle that in
-
your bible, if you will diligence, hearken, say diligently, hearken, diligently,
-
hearken if you will diligently hearken to the voice here
-
and be healed. If you will diligently hearken to the
-
voice of the Lord your God Yahweh Elohem, and will
-
do that which is right in his sight, and will
-
give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes.
-
I will put or Hebrew, I will allow none of
-
these diseases upon thee which I brought upon the Egyptians.
-
He brought them upon the Egyptians. They weren't his children,
-
they were his enemies, and it was judgment upon them.
-
But God's not doing that the children, he says, which
-
I've permitted to come upon the Egyptians and judgment for
-
I am Yahweh Rafa, the Lord that healeth thee He says,
-
I am your healer, I am your physician, I'm your doctor.
-
And he said, you will discover that and realize that
-
if if I don't like the if I don't want
-
there to be any responsibility on my part. I just
-
want God to do it. I don't want to have
-
to do anything. If if you will diligently hearken to
-
the voice of the Lord your God, and will do
-
that which is right in his sight. One way you
-
could look at this is one great promise and covenant
-
and two great conditions, hearing and doing, hearing and doing,
-
hearing and doing. Now we're going to break it down
-
a little bit more, but you'll notice it says, diligently
-
hearken and do and then give ear and keep. Those
-
could both fall under that same category. Hear and do,
-
here and do. He said, if you hear and do,
-
I will be yahweh rafa to you. That rhymes I'm
-
a poet and didn't know it. My feet are longfellows.
-
Here and do here and do here and do. Now,
-
notice he says, if you diligently hearken to the voice
-
of the Lord your God. No God wants us healed.
-
Healing is his will, Healing is his desire for his children.
-
Think about he's put healing in the body. You cut
-
your finger, even without exercising any faith, it heals. Why
-
is that he's put healing in the body. Your body
-
heals itself. I was ministering to somebody on the phone,
-
praying with them this week, and they said they got
-
disinfection and it's eaten away some of their jaw. And
-
they said, but the doctors say, God, you are something else.
-
The doctors say the jaw will actually re regenerate itself
-
and grow back out. They said about six months it'll
-
come back out. The Lord, you're amazing. But God wants
-
us healed. It's his will, it's his desire, and we
-
do things to hinder that, spiritually and naturally. Spiritually, doubt, fear, unbelief,
-
wrong confession, these kind of things. Naturally, not taking care
-
of ourselves, not getting enough rest, enough sleep, enough exercise,
-
enough fresh air, not eating right, putting junk in our bodies.
-
We do all these things to hinder the healing that
-
God wants us to walk in. You can argue with it,
-
you can debate about it, you can pooh pooh it,
-
you can mock me, you can say I'm off the wall,
-
but I'm standing on fact and you're standing on fiction
-
on wishing, because there's no truth to what you're thinking.
-
If you don't believe what I just said. Whatever man sows,
-
that's how he also reap. Don't be deceived. God is
-
not mocked. Whatever we sow, we reap. God has put
-
healing in the body. He's given us an amazing immune system,
-
and it should function a peak efficiency where it constantly
-
drives away sickness and disease. Why doesn't it because we
-
do things to hinder our immune system. Now, maybe you
-
know some people you know it just thero'ugh, no fault
-
of their own. They were born with it or something
-
like that, and thank God there is healing for that.
-
Don't get under condemnation. Just try and encourage us to
-
receive all that God has for us. Nothing is impossible
-
with God. Think about it, Nothing is impossible with God. Well,
-
somebody says, well, I just believe if God wants me healed,
-
I'll be healed. If God wants it, it'll just happen.
-
Why did Jesus then tell us to pray thy will
-
be done if his will is being done automatically. Why
-
would we need to pray your will be done on
-
earth as it is in heaven. If it's being done automatically,
-
that's a we're wasting our prayers praying that. No, it's
-
not being done automatically. Satan is the god of this world.
-
We're in a fallen world. So let's look at this
-
a little closer. Notice, he says diligently, hearken to the
-
voice of the Lord your God. This word diligently hearken
-
is actually two. It's actually a Hebrew word repeated twice.
-
It's like, remember that will keep him in perfect peace,
-
Shalom shalom. And the only way they could translate it
-
is how do you translate shalom shalom well perfect peace?
-
And this diligently hearken is one Hebrew word shama, which
-
means to hear, repeated twice, so it's if you will
-
shama shamah. This a word that's found about one thousand
-
and sixty times in the New Old Testament shmaha here,
-
and it means, according to Hebrew dictionaries, we'll have it
-
on the screen here. It means to you here intelligently,
-
with the implication of attention and obedience. See it's not
-
just hearing it goes in one ear and out the other.
-
It's hearing intelligently with attention and obedience. In the Hebrew thought,
-
if you don't obey, you didn it here, just like
-
a parent's thought if your kids don't obey, they did
-
it here. Kurt. If you say to Mason to go
-
do something, and then an hour later you say, well,
-
you never did that, did you hear me say oh yeah,
-
I heard your dad. No, you didn't hear me, because
-
you still didn't take the trash out. You didn't hear
-
me or heard your dad. No, you did it. If
-
you'd have heard me, you'd have done it. And that's
-
in the Hebrew mindset. If you don't obey, you haven't heard.
-
And how many times people hear don't obey, which is
-
why the New Testament tells us time and again be
-
doers of the word and not hearers only. In other words,
-
make sure you hear with the understanding attention obedience. In
-
the Hebrew, they would say, one way to say it
-
would be listening, listen, listening, listen. The Theological word Book
-
of the Old Testament says this about smah. The basic
-
idea is that of perceiving a message to hear involving
-
effective hearing. Notice that effective hearing. You know there's a
-
difference between hearing and effective hearing. And Jesus says, if
-
you will effectively hear, I'll be your healer. I'll be
-
your yahweh rafha hear and be healed. The Greek word
-
translated here that he looked at where they hear and
-
be healed. It's it's in the Greek translation Old Testament.
-
They use it to translate the word shmah. It's effective
-
hearing and they hurt. Now we're gonna see tonight and
-
in the weeks to come, we're timing again in the
-
New Testament. They came and they heard and were healed.
-
We tend to think that, you know, the crowd just
-
kind of showed up and Jesus starts saying, heal, heal, heal,
-
he'll be He'll be healed, and just kind of people
-
just kind of walked up and hey, Jesus, ooh, I'm healed.
-
You know, no timing he is says they heard and
-
were healed. They took the time to hear and be healed.
-
Why was that? Because faith comes by hearing the word
-
of God. In Acts chapter fourteen, I believe it is
-
Paul was preaching the word and there was a man
-
there who had been lame from his mother's birth. He
-
had never walked, and now he's a grown man. And
-
Paul was preaching the word, and it says and he
-
perceiving that he had faith to be healed. Where did
-
he get the faith to be healed? Because Paul was
-
preaching the word and hearing procedes healing. And Paul said,
-
and Nyas, I said to you, take up your bed
-
and walk, get up. You're healed. And Anya's did it
-
here and be healed. Now. Most folks want to skip
-
the hearing. They just want to be healed. Most people,
-
you know, they just want to get forget the hearing.
-
Just heal me, just heal me. I heard Keith Moore
-
who used to work at Rama Healing School in Tulsa,
-
and they have healing school every day, and he was
-
one of the healing ministers, and he gave an illustration.
-
He said, this be prior to after the at afternoon
-
session between meetings. Basically, this couple came to him from
-
out of town and they said, brother Moore, would you
-
pray for us? Pray for my husband more specifically, he's
-
been diagnosed with a terminal disease. He's been given only
-
months to live. We'd like you to pray with him
-
and pray, lay your hands on him, anoint him with
-
oil so he could be healed. And so he said
-
he began to talk to them and just by talking
-
to him and listen what they had said, he said,
-
I proceed I knew they had no he had no
-
faith to be healed, and if I were to lay
-
hands on him and anoint him with oil, all that
-
would do was produce more discouragement and disappointment in him.
-
You know, we do that something we actually think about
-
doing injustice to people, to pray for him before they're ready,
-
before they have really any faith to be healed, because well,
-
go ahead, yeah, just go ahead, pray for me. And
-
then they boy pray for me. They don't get here
-
on anything. Well, they get discourage and they think it
-
doesn't work. I told the story before. I've had a
-
Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship International dinner one time, and there
-
was a guy there in a wheelchair and the Full
-
Gospel Businessman. Back then, during the charismatic renewal, they would
-
pray for a fence post. And I saw this. I'm
-
standing off to the side and its like the Lord
-
gave me inside. And I'm just watching this and there's
-
this guy in a wheelchair, and this guy comes up
-
to him and says, hey, brother, can we pray for you?
-
He goes, well, okay, and I say, hey, guys, come
-
on over here. In about six guys surround they started
-
praying binding and loosing and casting out, casting in and
-
let go brother, hold on, brother, and all kinds of
-
things going on. I'm standing there watching this, and God says,
-
all they're doing is producing more unbelief and discouragement in him.
-
He's had this same experience many times before. He's got
-
no faith to be healed. He's just hoping something will happen,
-
trying to get it on everybody else's coattails. And I
-
was like, WHOA. What they needed, somebody needed is take
-
that man aside and say, hey, I'm going to teach
-
you the Word of God. We're going to get into
-
the scriptures and see what the Bible says about healing
-
so you can have faith to be healed. But most
-
people don't want to do that. So back to my story,
-
Brother Moore said to this couple, well, he was talking
-
to him and they could tell the guy had no
-
faith to be healed. He said, hey, the next session
-
of healing school begins in about an hour. Can you
-
come to that? And they go, oh, no, we got
-
a shopping trip planned. And he said, you nearly need
-
to come to this session to hear the word. They go,
-
oh no, we've been planning this shopping trip for a
-
long time, and we're just going to do that, he said.
-
Never heard from him again. The guy probably died because
-
people don't understand the importance of hearing. They just want
-
to skip that and go to be healed without any faith.
-
Most people don't understand the importance of diligently HARKing to
-
the word of God so he can be yahweh rafa
-
for them. Now, you know, if they did, if people
-
fully understood the importance of hearing, there going to be
-
an empty seat in here tonight. There's all kinds of
-
sick folk out there, but people don't want to take
-
the time to hear. Now, I can pretty much guarantee
-
you if it started getting noised about the cripples were walking,
-
blind eyes were being opened, that her being raised up,
-
we couldn't We'd have to bring in more chairs. You
-
couldn't get enough people in here. But you say, oh,
-
somebody's teaching on healing and building faith for healing. I
-
gotta go shopping. Brother Moore talked about another time he
-
ministered to a person under the same circumstances. You need
-
to come to the session. We got one starting in
-
about fifteen minutes and they said, Wow, this is there
-
work in my garden. I can't come what happened? What
-
you go? I mean, I've seen it over the years.
-
I've been in full time ministry about forty years, and
-
over that time, I've gone into hospitals a lot to
-
minister to people. Nine times out of ten, if not
-
nine point eight times out of ten. You go in
-
to see somebody. Sometimes they're a death's door and what's
-
going on? They're watching the boob tube? No faith in that,
-
no hearing in that. I've ministered to people before and
-
they're I mean serious conditions. I say, here, I'll give
-
you some healing messages on CD or give you some
-
books on healing, and then I follow up on them
-
a week later, ten days later. How you doing? No?
-
Not too good, brother, Tim. You know I'm still struggling.
-
I don't see anything better. I know you prayed, but
-
it's just not any better. Well did you read the
-
books I gave you? Well? No, I hadn't gotten around
-
to it. Well have you listened to the messages? No?
-
And in the background I can hear the stupid television
-
going time and time and time again. Sometimes I call somebody.
-
It's very sick, and it's like I can't even hear
-
what they're saying because it's televisions. Also, I'm going to
-
visit people in their house. I'm trying to minis healing. Finally,
-
I say, can we turn that off? It's like, ah,
-
this addiction to television watching General Hospital is not going
-
to get you healed, and as the stomach turns, it's
-
not going to do it. Hear and be healed. If
-
thou wilt diligently hearken, look to it again Etuy fifteen
-
twenty six. If you diligently hearken, Well, let's keep that
-
definition up. Know what there it is if you diligently hearken. Now,
-
let's hurry o back to that definition. If you diligently hearken.
-
Schmash Shama, the theological word Book of the Old Testament,
-
says the basic guy of the hear is that of
-
perceiving a message to hear, involving effective hearing. Listen, to
-
pay attention, to understand, hear critically obey. Obey, That says
-
is to give attention, be attentive. Do people give attention
-
to the word of God? Are they attentive to the
-
word of God. Do they read it, do they study it?
-
Do they memorize healing scripture? Why does God tell us
-
to diligently hearken to the word because most folks aren't
-
doing it. That's why he has to tell us that.
-
Why does he say, in proverb, for my son, my daughter,
-
attend to my word and climb your ear to my saying,
-
because most folk aren't doing it. Why does he say
-
keep it in the midst of your heart because most
-
people don't do it. But when we do it, he said,
-
my words will be health and healing and medicine to
-
all your faith. He said, when we do it, I'll
-
reveal myself as yahweh Rafael to you, your physician, your healer,
-
your doctor. Well, can't we just skip everything prior to that,
-
all of verse twenty six and just get right down
-
to yahweh Rafha. Just do it, Lords, I can go
-
back to watching television. Heal me of this incurable disease
-
so I don't have to go to the hospital, pay
-
all those medical bills, and I can go back to
-
watching television. Just do it, Lord, Just I mean people
-
come to me of frequently. Pie, do you just would
-
you pray for me? Would you annoint me? Well, if
-
you do, you know what scriptures are standing on. Huh,
-
No faith to be healed. Heybody just want some miracle.
-
They just want it automatically, without taking the time to
-
build faith. W Vine says the word schma means says
-
it can be both intellectual hearing and spiritual hearing. Remember,
-
Jesus said he that has ears to hear, let him hear. Everybody.
-
He said that to had physical ears. But he said,
-
if you have ears here, here, here, spiritually here intelligently.
-
So he says, diligently, hearken to the voice of the
-
Lord your God, and do that which is right in
-
his sight. And give ear to his commandments. Back to
-
the Exodus fifteen twenty six. Give ear to his commandments,
-
give ear to his commandments. Give your ear to his commandments.
-
And I'll be the Lord your healer. Give ear to him.
-
But what do most people give ear to? Secular news,
-
secular music, secular television, secular music. That's what they give
-
ear to. They don't give ear to the Word of God.
-
And faith comes by hearing the word of God. Not
-
faith comes by hearing secular music, secular television, secular magazines,
-
secular news. Faith doesn't come from that. Fear comes from
-
that comes from the secular. Faith comes from the Word
-
of God. People hear all that stuff and saturate themselves
-
and they get in fear, like, oh, they said it's coming.
-
They said, it's all over. What am I going to do?
-
But you get into the Word of God and faith
-
comes in. It's like, the Lord is my shepherd. I
-
do not want no weapon formed against me. Shall prosper.
-
He's my rock, my refuge, my shield. What are you
-
giving ear to? Now? Think about it, all of us people,
-
all the time, God's people commonly ask God to give
-
ear to their prayers and petitions and supplications. But you know,
-
God also asks us to give ear to what he's saying.
-
Oh God, listen to what I say. Oh God, I'm praying,
-
I want you to hear what I'm saying. But God
-
also says, I want you to hear what I'm saying.
-
Give ear to his commandments and notice and keep all
-
his statutes. Now, this is a related word to diligently
-
hearken shama. It's the Hebrew word shamar, and it means
-
to hedge about, to guard, protect, a tend to watch over,
-
to watch over carefully. He says, take all his commandments,
-
his statutes, and guard them, protect them, watch over them carefully.
-
It's the same Hebrew word that God told Adam and Eve.
-
He said, guard the garden, protect the garden, and they
-
didn't do it, and the devil got in, and God
-
saying guard your life, protect your life, so the devil
-
doesn't get in. Keep all his commandments. It means to
-
watch carefully over, to pay close attention to the theological word.
-
Book of the Old Testament says it means to exercise
-
great care over, to be careful to do or perform.
-
Do all my commandments, perform all my commandments, it says.
-
It expresses the careful attention to be paid to the
-
obligations of a covenant. We are in covenant with Yahweh,
-
God with Yahweh. Rafa wants to establish a healing covenant
-
with you, and he says, if you do this, I'll
-
do this. He said, if you diligently hearken, give your
-
keep and obey what I'm saying, I'll do this. I'll
-
be your doctor, your physician, your healer. I'll take sickness
-
away from the midst of you. Exodus twenty three, twenty five.
-
You know God said that, He said, I will take
-
sickness away from the midst of you. That's a promise.
-
It's a condition of the covenant. And people think, well,
-
I don't understand God must not a minute because I
-
don't see it, and I don't se anybody else see it.
-
And it's not working because we're not fulfilling the conditions
-
of the covenant. Hear and be healed. They came to
-
him to hear and be healed. He perceived he had
-
faith to be healed. He heard, and he perceived he
-
had faith to be faith comes by hearing the word
-
of God. My counsel to somebody had a terminal disease
-
would be shut yourself up in the bedroom and do
-
nothing but listen to the word of God on healing
-
and read healing literature and do nothing but healing until
-
you either die in there or come out healed. And
-
there's a high probability you'll come out here. But what
-
most folks do, Doctor gave me two months to live,
-
and they watched television the whole time, waiting to die.
-
Waiting to die. It means frequently, it's frequently used to
-
speak of personal discipline. This is the theological word book
-
of the Old Testament for Shamar. It's used to speak
-
of personal discipline and the need to take heed in
-
respect to one's life and actions. We don't want to
-
do that, take heed to my life and actions? Can
-
I just live spiritually sloppy and still walk in divine health? Okay,
-
let me wrap it up here. We'll summarize this passage.
-
We didn't get it all in. I wanted to show
-
some of the more New Testament scriptures on here and
-
be healed. We'll take it up from here next week.
-
One great promise or one great covenant, four great conditions
-
in this verse Hebrews Exodus fifteen twenty six, the healing
-
covenant yahweh rafa establishes the number one. Diligently hearken to
-
God's voice. Diligently hearken to God's voice. So, in other words,
-
hear it, attend to it, obey it. Do what God
-
tells you to do. Now, really, these aren't this complicated.
-
There are four basic things, and if we'll do them,
-
God says, and I'll be yahweh rafa to you. You
-
do these four things, and I will be the Lord
-
your healer. Diligently hearken to God's voice. Hear it, attend
-
to it, obey it. Do what God tells you to do.
-
Number two, do what is right. Do what is right.
-
He said, if you diligence hearkened the voice of the
-
Lord your God, and do that which is right in
-
his sight. Do what is right in his sight. In
-
other words, live holy and righteous, Be godly in your
-
life and conduct. Live holy and righteous, Do what is
-
right in his sight. Be godly in your life and conduct.
-
Third thing he tells us to do, give ear to
-
his commandments. Give ear to his commandments, or feed on
-
the word of God. Feed on the word of God.
-
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
-
word that comes out of the mouth of God. Who
-
said that, Come on, who said that man shall not
-
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
-
out of the mouth of God. Jesus said that I
-
can feed on the word of God. And then the
-
fourth thing he says, keep all his statutes, keep all
-
his statue, do the word, perform the word, discipline yourself,
-
guard yourself, acknowledge Him as God and Lord Word, and
-
live free from my doolatry. Well what you're talking about.
-
Why do you say put idolatry in here, Because anything
-
we have in our life that supersedes God is number
-
one in our life is an idol. Anything we're putting
-
ahead of God, a hobby, a sport, recreation, money, a job,
-
a person, it's an idol. God has to be number one.
-
So he says, keep all his statutes, acknowledge Him as
-
God and Lord, and live free from my dolatary. And
-
then the great commandment, love love God, and love others.
-
Love God, love people, Love God with all your heart, soul,
-
mind and strength, and love others as you love yourself.
-
And he says, I will be to you. Yahweh rafa,
-
yahweh rafa, hallelujah. Hear and be healed. When people don't hear,
-
oftentimes they're not healed. But when they do hear, they
-
are healed. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
-
Let's stand up and we're going to sing a song
