  5. good shape and now here's your message.

  6. Welcome everyone, Welcome to our five PM service. Yes, we

  7. are live. We are here at the center right now.

  8. We are actually continuing our Gospel Explain series and we

  9. are already at our week nine. Imagine that for nine

  10. weeks we have been studying the Word of God. We've

  11. been studying Romance, and we have been studying how Paul

  12. is unpacking what it is to really understand the gospel.

  13. You know, a lot of us might be saying a

  14. gospel Alampon. I've heard that it's been shared to me.

  15. But it's very important for us to slowly unpack it

  16. why so that we will be a able to live

  17. out the right gospel. You know, last week I shared

  18. the Word last week and one of the things, or

  19. one of the main points that I shared was this

  20. that God chose you. God chose you, and that's why

  21. he has forgiven you. God chose you because he loves

  22. you so much. He has actually forgiven you for the

  23. things that you have done in the past, and so

  24. he has given us a clean slate. The Bible says

  25. He has made your sins as far as the East

  26. Avenue is from the West avenue, Macabil and Duluja, and

  27. it's very far from each other. But the question some

  28. of us are still thinking about today. You may be

  29. a new believer, or you may be a believer for decades. Now,

  30. the question that we ask is, Lord Bagnon, I've been

  31. reading my Bible. I've been faithful. Lord. I actually attend

  32. all the services, the online services. I make time to

  33. have my devotion, I attend the victory group. But why

  34. is it that there's this one sin that I feel

  35. like I don't have power to overcome. Why is it

  36. that there's this one sin that I can't break free from?

  37. Why is it that there's this one sin that always

  38. pops out when there's a new season in my life?

  39. Why is it there's just one sin that I can't

  40. I can't get free off. Lord, You've forgiven me for that,

  41. but why is it still there? Why is it still

  42. bothering me? You know, this is a concern of the

  43. church before, during the time of fall, but it is

  44. I believe a church. I believe we are still going

  45. through today. You know, this pandemic actually allowed us to

  46. see your old sinfulness, not in some of you and

  47. I myself, No, I realized when I was locked in

  48. there were hints of the old mean share because I

  49. might lose what I have. But you know what, this

  50. pandemic not only has brought out the old sinfulness of

  51. our past, but it actually birth new ones. Nona, you know,

  52. I believe God wants to encourage you today as we

  53. unpack Romance chapter six, and Paul actually starts with this

  54. Romans chapter six, verse one. He says, well, then should

  55. we keep on sinning so that God can show us

  56. more and more of his wonderful grace? And that is

  57. the question. And so if God is merciful, if God

  58. is loving, if God has forgiven me of all my sins,

  59. you know, God shows you even at your worst, the

  60. Bible says, and so he will just forgive me. You know,

  61. some of us might think that way, We would rationalize

  62. it and say, bahaa man, I need to live out

  63. my life with this one thing. Bahanaman. It's there forever

  64. that I can no longer overcome. Maybe the Gospel is

  65. tell me that what is important is really a place

  66. for me in heaven with Jesus. But you know what,

  67. the Gospel is more than that. And I believe that

  68. as we go through the next verses, as we go

  69. through one to twelve, today, I believe God will set

  70. captives free. I believe God will allow us to see

  71. what it really means. Verse two, it says, of course not.

  72. It was a very straight answer of Paul, Hello, why

  73. would you think that way? You know, I've been married

  74. for eleven years. We celebrated our anniversary yesterday. And one

  75. of the things that I came to a conclusion with

  76. when I was having our date known like date comny

  77. pansa bahhi like take out lahame. You know, I realized

  78. my wife has grown to be more patient. My wife

  79. has grown to be more understanding and loving for the

  80. past eleven years. But do I actually abuse that? Do

  81. I say to myself and so I can do wrong things?

  82. Because why she will forgive me? You know, we do

  83. not respond that way as people of God. We actually

  84. want to be better ourselves. We want to actually respond

  85. in why because we have received so much and that's

  86. why Paul is saying, of course not. You should not

  87. continue the life of sin. He says, since we have

  88. died to sin, and how can we continue to live

  89. in sin? What Paul is saying is that the issue

  90. that you went through before, Remember I saved you, Saben

  91. the Lord say, oh, the issue that almost broke your marriage,

  92. the issue that almost made you bankrupt because of Casino,

  93. that issue of being unfaithful to your wife. Remember it

  94. was not worth it. You remember you went to me.

  95. And so God is saying, why would you want to

  96. continue to do live life like that? So very excited

  97. going on, I'm eating my words, and so allow me

  98. to unpack this word of God today. You know, Paul

  99. wants us to know a lot of things today. He

  100. starts with verse three. It says in the ESV version,

  101. do you not know?

  102. What?

  103. Does that mean? It's very important for us to know why,

  104. because knowing is half the battle. If you remember that

  105. cartoons type in your chat box what that is, Knowing

  106. is half the battle. If we don't know what it is,

  107. we won't be able to respond right. And so for Paul,

  108. he starts with, we need to know. You know, there

  109. are three people that are tuned in right now. One

  110. is they think they know, the other is they really

  111. don't know, and the other one is they have forgotten.

  112. We all are part of these three segments. And I

  113. believe this word is timely for you. Say that with me.

  114. Wherever you are, You may lie down in your couch,

  115. you may actually cooking dinner right now, just say that

  116. this word is for me today. As we continue, it

  117. says you need to know that all of us have

  118. been baptized into Christ. Jesus were baptized in his death.

  119. What does that mean? Paul was actually just saying that

  120. we are already dead to sin and alive in Christ.

  121. We're actually going to talk about this for the next

  122. few minutes. What does it really mean to be dead

  123. to sin and alive in Christ. We need to know

  124. this as people of God because it will determine how

  125. we'll live our lives. So what does it mean? Verse four,

  126. he says, for we died and we were buried. You know,

  127. a person who is dead needs to be buried. You

  128. can't be buried if you are alive. And what do

  129. we see? And when something is dead, that may be

  130. a plant, that may be a person, that may be

  131. whatever that is what do we see. You know, it's lifeless.

  132. It does not respond when you talk to it. It

  133. won't respond. Why it's dead already. And that's why Paul

  134. was saying that we need to bury the dead. It's

  135. not responding anymore. You know. Going through this, studying, this

  136. preaching all throughout this week, I actually was praying, Lord,

  137. how do I actually preach this? And God reminded me

  138. of my old self that I would say to you

  139. that my dead self, the dead francis the dead to sin.

  140. You know, I went back memory lane and this is

  141. what I realized. Lord, Wow, I couldn't imagine living that

  142. life until today. It gives me the goose bumps now,

  143. and I'm thankful for it because those things that I

  144. never want to remember, those things that haunted me in

  145. my lives, are already dead. The Bible says it was buried, buried,

  146. It says buried with Christ. By baptism. Paul now actually

  147. talks about baptism. What is baptism. It's actually immersion when

  148. when on the Baptist baptized Jesus and Binaptaiza are you

  149. would actually rise? But the baptism that Paul was talking

  150. about was the life of Jesus and the death of Jesus,

  151. and that he actually rose again. I remember when I

  152. was in Macau Cominilla, Tim and our team went to

  153. Macau for ten days. We were able and privileged to

  154. witness and actually baptize the new people who were part

  155. of victory Macau. And one of them I still remember

  156. his name is names Jiggy big guy. He's a I

  157. think around six to one. And guess what we were

  158. actually baptizing him in a baptub in our hotels. And

  159. so when Jiggy went in and said, pastor Baha in

  160. the Omalubug and late Alabast would go Baha me my

  161. e one me my ew and Acelana in Dina who goes,

  162. you know, bad water. Baptism is an internal reality of

  163. what crisis is done. It's a public generation. But when

  164. we receive and accept and know the story of Christ,

  165. what we're saying is that we identify with him, we

  166. are part of him. And that's why when he was submerged,

  167. when he was baptized, he was actually once again raised

  168. from the dead, it says, and just Christ was raised

  169. from the dead by the glorious power of the Father

  170. now we also may live new lives. Very important to

  171. know today. What does it mean to be dead to

  172. sin and alive in Christ? It's this that God has

  173. given us new life. We have new life in Jesus.

  174. Say that with me wherever you are, new life in Christ.

  175. Why is that very important? You know a lot of

  176. people when they go to God, when they accept God,

  177. the invitation of God, what would they do. They would

  178. want the forgiveness, Lord, forgive me, I want to free

  179. me from this, and so they would receive Christ just

  180. like an altar call. But what happens. They just want

  181. the forgiveness, but they continue with the old life. They

  182. just want the forgiveness of God, but they don't embrace

  183. the new life. One of the stories that I've always

  184. share is one of our Victory Weekends where there was

  185. this girl in Green Hills way back who actually was

  186. excited to get baptized. But at the same time, as

  187. soon as she was submerged, nonilu blum a too big

  188. a maya. We would raise her, you know, we would

  189. tell them, you know, let this is a celebration, so

  190. you have to actually declare, shout freedom, I'm free. And

  191. everyone was celebrating but this one particular woman, as soon

  192. as she was actually raised a picture of being raised

  193. with Christ, she actually cried, cried, and you would see

  194. in her face that it was not a crime. It

  195. was not tears of joy, but there was sadness. There

  196. was sorrow, and she was going through a hard time.

  197. We were concerned, and so one of the victory group leaders,

  198. her victory group leader, actually talked to her, ministered to her,

  199. and we learned this. She was so sad, she was crying.

  200. You know why. You want to know why? Thank you

  201. for the three people that said why. It's because she

  202. knew that as soon as she was raised from that water,

  203. it was also a signal to start a new life.

  204. It was for her to decide to leave the relationship

  205. that she was in. It was a wrong relationship that

  206. she had to leave. It was a wrong relationship that

  207. she had to break free from. You know what, only

  208. through a new life that comes from Jesus that we

  209. can live lives away from our pasts. Amen. Not only

  210. that verse six, it says we now, yeah, and Manipabasa,

  211. we know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ,

  212. so that sin get this. Paul says, lose its power

  213. in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

  214. Sin might lose its power in our lives. You know,

  215. to be slaves is to be powerless. To be slaves

  216. is to be overpowered by the master. And so the

  217. question is who is the master? In our past it

  218. was Sin? But you know what, Jesus turned off that switch.

  219. Jesus killed the power that no matter how high the

  220. voltage of sin, there is that how much how you

  221. are controlled by sin, the vaccina moga. You know what,

  222. God killed that power. He turned it off. One of

  223. the things that I've experienced during this pandemic was actually

  224. to change the battery of our car. And so what

  225. happened months before the pandemic, we were able to engine

  226. wash our car and so it's really clean. Soplin is

  227. in love. It's just having a men. Know, when Indian

  228. bug starts a big behin Indian battery. I popped the

  229. hood and I saw it was very clean. It was

  230. it actually I felt like it was new. But you know,

  231. when I called Moto light and when they got there,

  232. this is what he said, sir, put in battery klana,

  233. not in balatan. So Indian putting and jumps start Cri Lana.

  234. It's dead. You know, it has no power. It actually

  235. won't allow your car to move forward. It actually ough't

  236. allow your car to turn on. There, it won't allow

  237. you to do anything. Why because it's dead. The battery

  238. is dead. Why am I saying this? You know, the

  239. battery actually looks like it had power, but the reality

  240. is it didn't have any It's just that baggage that

  241. it's there. It's useless already. And so what am I saying?

  242. You know what? Sin has lost it power? And this

  243. is a very powerful moment. If you're at home, if

  244. you're with someone, say this with me. Sin has lost

  245. its power over my life. I want you to declare

  246. that once again, Sin has lost its power in my life.

  247. You know, when you compare the two batteries, the new

  248. one and the old one, it was the same model.

  249. You know, you would look at it and you feel

  250. like oho. But you know what, God has turned off

  251. the power of the enemy. God removed the power from them.

  252. Why is that very important? I want to show you

  253. a picture of the cross. Do you see that? You

  254. know this cross actually has sins that are nailed on

  255. the cross. And this is what Christ not did. If

  256. you are able to read those sins, whatever has been

  257. a struggle in your life, you know, the enemy is

  258. actually sharing to you that it's not actually crucified. As

  259. if it is, it still has power, but really it

  260. does not. There is no power in those sins anymore.

  261. Why it's been nailed on the cross, it's stuck there,

  262. it's been buried, it's been wiped out clean. Sin has

  263. no more power in your life. Again, sin has no

  264. more power in your life. You know, when it tells

  265. you to do things and you listen to it, it

  266. actually doesn't have any power. The question is are you

  267. still listening to that voice? As you continue verse seven,

  268. it says, for when we died with Christ, we were

  269. set free from the power of sin, not only sin, powerless,

  270. what else? Because power? Paul says, we are set free.

  271. You know, slaves, when they are free, they can do

  272. anything they want. But some of you might say, lemon

  273. bro the most sabini. You know, the devil made me

  274. do it. Hello, why are you doing it? It has

  275. no power over you. You know I learned this. No,

  276. just like what I've been preaching today, we need to

  277. know this. Why because if we don't know. We don't

  278. know what to do best example, And I love sharing

  279. this testimony because this is my personal testimony. You know,

  280. I've been a believer for quite some time. But there

  281. was this one sin I was talking about a while ago.

  282. There's this one sin that actually I kept it from

  283. everyone Lata. I actually did it while nobody's there, so

  284. that nobody will get hurt. Alamna man Lord beginning as

  285. having to okuru diba. That's how I rationalized it. I

  286. was actually addicted to smoking. I smoked a lot, as

  287. in soul Brah, I smoke three packs a day of

  288. the tents no, and I was so consumed by it,

  289. but that even though I wanted to quit, I couldn't.

  290. I would always say, yohana sah, you got turned them by.

  291. But taanato, it's gonna kill me, you know, said this

  292. afternoon as you have done diriching. You know, I was

  293. addicted to it. I could not get free from it,

  294. even though it was not good for me. Imagine that.

  295. But you know, when I learned that there's freedom in Christ,

  296. I learned that it is not by my might that

  297. I can win this battle from this addiction, but only

  298. through Christ. When I learned that it was Christ's battle

  299. for me. When I learned that I needed to be still,

  300. when I learned that I needed to surrender it to God.

  301. You know what happened, miraculously when I prayed to God.

  302. The next day, there's no craving. Otoma practically stopped. I

  303. was not. I didn't experience being a cold turkey, a

  304. hot turkey, a lempo whatever. I was free from it.

  305. And guess what I actually the next day, I actually

  306. developed an allergy when I smell smoke. Imagine that from

  307. being in bondage to smoking to being free. You know,

  308. sin has no more power in our lives. We need

  309. to know this. Sin has no more power. And you

  310. have been set free. We have been set free by Christ.

  311. You know. The problem is some of you have been

  312. set free, but you feel like you're still in that cage.

  313. Some of you are set free already, but you feel

  314. like Indiannam and Telegray. You know what God is reminding

  315. you today. You need to know this, that you have

  316. been set free. And so if the enemy is telling you,

  317. turn off that preaching now. Macgjosi, you know what that's

  318. a lie. You know whenever you hear these words India.

  319. But I need to carry this sin, but I just

  320. need to hide it forever. You know what, that's a

  321. lie and it's not you talking. It's the enemy deceiving

  322. you and lying to you. Why And that's why it's

  323. very important if you can actually save you know. One

  324. of the powerful verses that I hold on to is

  325. this found in James Practical Faith. James four, verse seven

  326. says submit yourselves therefore to God. We go back to

  327. God and say, Lord dicto. Just like my story and

  328. how I got I broke free from that addiction. And

  329. the important part is this, resist the devil, Resist the devil. Devil, Oh,

  330. my Lord, forgive me, resist the devil life. Oh, thank

  331. you Lord. Na going back to the spirit. They need

  332. this STRUCTI on a calaban. His name is devil, indeed devil.

  333. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Isn't

  334. that encouraging that we can actually live our lives away

  335. from the enemy. Resist him and he will flee. He

  336. has no Powerada, no less than I am. As we

  337. continue verse nine, and Paul gives us a proof of

  338. why we need to know this and what is the

  339. most important part that we need to know. Verse nine,

  340. He says, we are sure of this because Christ was

  341. raised from the dead and he will never die again.

  342. That's very important. He did it once. Death has no

  343. longer Death no longer has any power over him. Verse ten.

  344. When he he died, he died once to break the

  345. power of sin. You know, Jesus dying on the cross

  346. was more than enough. He doesn't need to die and

  347. die again. He just needs to defeat it one time.

  348. You know what. We are partakers of that victory, it says,

  349. But now he lives. We live for the glory of God.

  350. He lives for the glory of God. This is a

  351. very important part that we need to know. Paul says,

  352. we need to know this that Jesus has won the victory.

  353. It's very important that he has not only did it

  354. to forgive you, but to give you a free new

  355. life and to free you from sin. And he turned

  356. off the power of sin. John eight, verse thirty. Success.

  357. So if the sun sets you free, you are truly free.

  358. I'm gonna say this, and I hope you get this.

  359. You know, the enemy in calabanat In is one of

  360. the great deceivers. And even though Talon Nasha sore loser Yan,

  361. so he will do his best to distract you, to

  362. get you off your game, so that you will also

  363. lose in life. But you know what, God has already

  364. won the victory. Flee, resist the devil, and he will

  365. flee from you. Amen, it's the devil. Okay, it's not devil,

  366. all right, as you can tinue you. Verse eleven, Paul says,

  367. not only do we need to know? He starts with this,

  368. so you should also consider yourselves to be. What does

  369. that mean? Consider yourselves to be? It's not only knowing,

  370. but also believing. Why Because to know is to have

  371. it here in your mind, but to believe is to

  372. have it here in your heart. The Bible says we

  373. need to consider ourselves as if we are already victorious.

  374. Why because that is the reality. To consider yourselves that

  375. we are no longer in the power of sin. We

  376. have changed power. Who is the master of your life? Now?

  377. It's not sin anymore, it's Jesus. You know. I remember

  378. the story of a Christian no and he actually went

  379. in a one way street pandemic man the money quite

  380. one way milium Basna traffic enforcer answer w w j D.

  381. What would Jesus. Do it's just Christian Sabina brother, yeah,

  382. brother with Saba beatitudes. The boss as a beatitude. Blessed

  383. are the merciful, so that you will also receive mercy.

  384. So sab traffic enforces to mataua tapos mini antik it.

  385. Do you want to know what the traffic enforcers said

  386. to this Christian? You guys want to know. If you

  387. want to know, just type it. I want to know.

  388. I'm gonna tell you this is what he said. The

  389. Bible also says sin no more. You know, the Bible

  390. will tell us that we can live our lives free

  391. from sin. Yes, sin is there in front of us. Yes,

  392. we are not perfect. Yes we will sometimes fall down,

  393. Yes we will. We're not perfect until we meet Christ.

  394. Not But you know what, we can actually live our

  395. lives stop sinning. We can actually have that choice not

  396. to continue to sin. Why because it has no power

  397. over us anymore. We are already free from sin verse twelve.

  398. And before I read this verse and this is our

  399. last text. You know. Not only is Paul saying that

  400. we need to know that we are already dead to

  401. sin and alive in Christ. He says we need to

  402. believe that we are dead to sin and alive in Christ.

  403. And that's why, just like my story a while ago,

  404. Verse twelve actually summarizes this, we need to live it out.

  405. Do not let sin control the way you live. The

  406. Bible says, do not give in to sinful desires. So

  407. the question is what are we doing with our lives.

  408. Are we accepting defeat or are we believing in declarin

  409. that we have won the battle over sin? The Bible

  410. says we are already a new creation. The question is

  411. how do we respond? How do we live it out?

  412. I like this verse and I always share this to

  413. the guys. And I'm talking to the guys, the single

  414. or married guys. You know, I know you may not

  415. say it, you may not share it, but there is

  416. always that temptation in the battle of purity. And I

  417. want you to keep this verse in heart. I want

  418. you to keep this Bible verse near you so that

  419. you can declare it when you are in that situation

  420. where you and there is temptation coming near you. It

  421. tells Psalms one one nine, verse nine, how can a

  422. young person keep his life pure? He can do it

  423. by holding on to your word. We can actually live

  424. our lives pure when we hold on to the word

  425. of God. When we continue to meditate on the word

  426. of God. You know, I just need to get my

  427. Bible to just make a point. I'll be back in

  428. your screen, okay, and I'm back. You know D. L.

  429. Moody said this. You know this Bible will actually stop

  430. you from sinning. I'm going to say that again. You

  431. know this Bible will stop you from sinning. But you

  432. know what the reality is, sin will also stop you

  433. to read this Bible. We need to live our lives

  434. in meditating in the world because this word of God

  435. is a lamp to our feet that guides us, It

  436. directs us, It allows us to be free from temptations.

  437. The Bible says, God will give us an escape from

  438. the trials that we will go through. You have to

  439. remember this, and I'm going to end with this where

  440. we started. We are already what dead to sin and

  441. alive in Christ. Not only do we need to remind

  442. ourselves to know, we also need to remind ourselves to believe,

  443. and we need to live it out. I'm gonna say

  444. that again. We need to know that we are already

  445. dead to sin in alive in Christ. We need to

  446. believe it that we are already dead to sin in

  447. alive in Christ, and we need to live it out,

  448. to live a life that is pleasing with the Lord.

  449. Second Corinthians, chapter five or seventeen says, Therefore, if anyone

  450. is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old

  451. has passed. Behold, the new has come. We're gonna say

  452. that again. Behold the oldest past own and the new

  453. has come. That is who you are in Christ. Amen.
