-
finds you in good shape. And now here's your message.
-
I want to look at diligently, hearken to the voice. Diligently,
-
hearken to the voice. And I trust you know what
-
voice that is. Hallelujah. Diligently hearken to the voice. While
-
you're turning there, I want to encourage you if you
-
have had an interest in the Foundational Discipleship class. We
-
began at last Sunday, and week two is this Sunday,
-
and you could still get in. This would be the
-
last week. But if you call the office or even
-
come this Sunday, preferably call, we can get you in.
-
There's ten weeks that will revolutionize your life. Sunday morning,
-
we're going to be looking at the Shepherd's anointing, and
-
I think you're going to be blessed by finding out
-
some of these things about the Shepherd's anointing. Luke chapter six,
-
verse seventeen. And he Jesus came down with them and
-
stood in the plane, and the company of his disciples,
-
and a great multitude of people out of all Judea
-
in Jerusalem and all the sea coast of Tire and Sidon,
-
who came to hear him and be healed of their diseases.
-
They came to hear and be healed. Again, I encourage
-
you to circle or underline those phrases here and be healed.
-
They came to hear and be healed. A lot of
-
times people just want to be healed. They don't want
-
to hear. Can I just skip the hearing and go
-
to the healings? But healing is a vital part of hearing.
-
Or excuse me, well, you could kind of said it backwards.
-
Hearing is a vital part of healing. Healing of all
-
kinds starts with hearing. Because faith comes by hearing the
-
word of God. We have to hear that Jesus heals here,
-
that he has compassion here, that it's his will. Why
-
would we need to be healed to hear, Because again
-
Romans ten seventeen, faith comes by hearing. So on one
-
O seven twenty he sent his word and healed us,
-
delivered us from all destruction. So they came to hear
-
him and be healed of their diseases. We're going to
-
develop this thought tonight. And they that were vexed with
-
unclean spirits, and they were healed, And the whole multitude
-
sought to touch him, for there went virtue or power
-
out of him, and healed them all. Healed them all,
-
the multitudes. Now, when we read of the Feeding of
-
the five thousand, it says that there was a multitude gathered,
-
and Jesus taught them, and then he realized they were hungry,
-
and he multiplied the loaves and fishes and fed five
-
thousand men, including and women, and an additional women and children.
-
Five thousand men plus women and children. So that could
-
have been a crowd of ten to fifteen thousand people,
-
and that was termed a multitude. Verse seventeen says this
-
was a great multitude. If a multitude is ten to
-
fifteen thousand, how many would a great multitude be? It
-
could have been fifty thousand or more. And they sought
-
to touch him, and they went power out of him
-
and healed them all. But notice a vital part of this.
-
They came to hear him. They came to hear him.
-
Hearing is a vital part of healing. Look at verse six,
-
same chapter, Luke sixty six. And it came to pass,
-
also on another Sabbath, that he Jesus entered into the
-
synagogue and taught, He taught, he went, did he teach,
-
He taught the word, taught the will of God. And
-
there was a man whose right hand was paralyzed. And
-
the scribes and pharisees watched him whether he would on
-
the Sabbath day, not whether he could heal, but whether
-
he would heal. They knew he could, They just weren't
-
sure if he would on their sacred Sabbath, that they
-
might find an accusation against him. But he knew their
-
thoughts and said to the man that had the paralyzed hand,
-
rise up, stand forth. In the midst in verse ten,
-
it says he told him, stretch forth thy hand. Now again,
-
we tend to look at this healing, this miracle, as disjointed,
-
an isolated case, and had nothing to do with hearing.
-
We just think, well, Jesus just selected the man and said, well,
-
you know, stretch forth your hand be healed. We often overlooked.
-
At in verse six, it says he was in the
-
synagogue teaching so all indication is this man with a
-
withered hand heard him, and faith came by hearing. And
-
it's quite likely that Jesus, as we'll see in the
-
book of Acts here in a minute, perceived that he
-
had faith to be healed, and said, stretch forth your hand.
-
Faith comes by hearing the word of God. We know
-
Jesus went about sharing out of Isaiah. The spirit of
-
the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me
-
to preach the good news of the poor. He has
-
sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance
-
to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to
-
set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the
-
year of the Jubilee, the year where everybody goes free.
-
We know he preached that message and others, so it'd
-
be easy to sit there and hear him preaching that,
-
and faith come. He said to him, stretch forth your hand. Well,
-
let's look at that. Your place there in luke, because
-
we're going to come back. But go to Acts chapter fourteen.
-
Hold your finger there in luke, or put a piece
-
of paper or something in there, Acts chapter fourteen. Or
-
ask your neighbor to stick their finger in there for
-
you or something. Acts fourteen, verse seven. This is speaking
-
of Lystra and Iconium, and it says in there they
-
verse seven, and there they preached the gospel, Paul and
-
his company, and there sat a man in Listra, impotent
-
in his feet, being a cripple from So this guy's
-
a man. Now we don't know for sure how old
-
he was, but he's been crippled from birth, so he's
-
probably thirty forty fifty years, maybe more. It could have
-
been seventy years. This way, who never had walked? What
-
a condition, never had walked, and they didn't have all
-
the modern helps back then that they have now. He
-
never had walked. Now, notice verse nine, the same heard
-
marked that word, heard, the same heard Paul speak, who
-
he heard him preach, because it says the verse seventy
-
preached the gospel, preach the good news, the gospel of healing. Obviously,
-
because the same heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding him
-
and perceiving? Paul perceived that he, the man had been
-
crippled from birth, had faith to be healed. Where would
-
the man that's been crippled from birth get faith to
-
be healed? He heard Paul speak and faith. Roman's ten
-
seventeen comes by hearing the word of God. He heard
-
Paul speak, and he had faith to be healed. And
-
Paul said, with a loud voice, stand upright on your feet.
-
Paul wasn't shy about performing miracles and healings. I want
-
everybody to know what's going on. And he the man
-
crippled from birth, leaped and walked. WHOA, what a sight
-
that would have been. Hallylujah. I think this guy maybe
-
got a little pentecostal he leap and walk. I don't
-
think he jumped up and say, oh that's nice, thank
-
you Lord. You know he probably got WHOA you would
-
I would if you hadn't walked your whole life. He
-
leaped and walked. Now, notice Paul did three things. The
-
man did three things, and God did something. Paul preached
-
in verse seven, perceived in verse nine, and said in
-
verse ten. Paul preached the word he perceived, and he
-
spoke the faith command broke out what he had perceived.
-
The man heard the gospel verse nine, had faith verse nine,
-
and responded to the faith command and leaped and walked
-
when Paul said to him, stand upright on thy feet.
-
Even though the power God obviously came on him and
-
came into him. That man could have said, Paul, you
-
don't know what you're saying. I've never walked. I can't walk,
-
I can't stand up. You have to help me. Somebody's
-
got to help me. He could have done that, Paul,
-
what are you talking about. Don't you know I've been
-
crippled from my mother's womb. I can't get up. No,
-
he responded to the faith command, and he leaped and walked.
-
He did. Paul did three things. The man did three things,
-
and God did something made him whole. Hallelujah, Glory, glory, glory.
-
All right, let's go to Let's go back to Luke.
-
Still got your finger there right, or your neighbor's finger
-
or something Luke chapter eight. We're there in Luke six.
-
Go to Luke eight, verse forty eight. Luke eight forty eight.
-
Notice this is I'm cutting in here, but this is
-
the case of the woman with the issue of blood.
-
And she crawled up and touched the hem of his
-
garment and was healed. Remember this woman had been very sick.
-
She spent everything she had on many physicians and was
-
nothing better, but rather grew worse, she touches the hem
-
of his garment. Power goes into her and knows what
-
Jesus says eight forty eight, daughter, be of good comfort.
-
Your faith has made you whole. He didn't say my power,
-
my virtue has made you hold my divinity, or anything
-
like that. He said, your faith has made you whole,
-
and your faith will make you whole. Go in peace,
-
go into shalloon, Go into wholeness, go into completeness. Jesus
-
spoke Aramaic and Hebrew, so he would have said go
-
in the little Greek it reads, go into peace, or
-
go into shalloon. Your faith has made you whole. Go
-
on into wholeness, completeness, wellness, nothing broken, nothing missing, It's available.
-
It's part of the Covenant. Verse forty nine. While he
-
yet spoke, there comes one from the rule of the
-
synagogue's house saying to him, your daughter's dead. Trouble not
-
the master. Well that's a bad report, if there ever
-
was one. That's a word of finality, or so it
-
would seem. Your daughter's dead. They ain't come and say
-
it's not looking too good. They said she's dead. Leave
-
him alone, don't trouble the master. And I think it's
-
we modern religion or modern The response by most people
-
today would be, oh, well, I guess it wasn't the
-
lord's will. She's dead. Wasn't the lord's will. Maybe God
-
had some sovereign reason. Well, that's too bad. But notice
-
Jesus' response. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him
-
and said, fear not, believe only she'll be made whole.
-
Fear not. I mean, that's the very thing that's going
-
to come on somebody, right there is fear dread says
-
fear not. But he says, you gotta do that's the
-
stop the fear. But you gotta do something in the positive.
-
He said, believe, fear not believe only. It's not enough
-
to say, okay, I won't fear, I won't fear got that.
-
Do something on the positive. Believe only only believe, only
-
believe all things are possible. Only believe fear not, only
-
believe she'll be made well. Faith is vital in healing.
-
Remember the two blind men Matthew nine, twenty eight twenty nine.
-
Jesus said, believe you that I am able to do this,
-
And then they say yay, Lord, And he said, according
-
to your faith, be it under you not according to
-
my power. That's how religion tends to read it. But
-
it says according to your faith. Remember, in his own hometown,
-
Nasa said he could do their no mighty work because
-
of their unbelief. He could do no mighty work he
-
wanted to, but he could do no mighty work because
-
of their unbelief. Now again, if he did the miracles
-
and signs and wonders to as God and to prove
-
his divinity, he would have done it there to say
-
I'll show you people. I mean, you ever want to
-
make a good impression. It's in your hometown. But he
-
could do there no mighty works. He said, I do
-
nothing of myself. It's the Father in me who does
-
the works. He said, the works that I do, you
-
will do also down fourteen twelve. We'll do them also
-
down fourteen twelve to fourteen hallelujah, Because it's the Father
-
in us who does the works. Look at Luke nine.
-
Just go down a little bit further Luke nine, Verse one.
-
Then Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them
-
power and authority Dunamus and Exusia. I gave them both
-
over all demons and to cure diseases, demons and diseases.
-
They couldn't stand the power of God. Demons plural and
-
diseases plural. Withluiah, fear not only believe now. Notice he
-
gave empower and authority of all demons and the cure diseases.
-
And he sent them to preach and to heal. He
-
sent them to preach the Kingdom of God, the rule
-
of God. He sent them to preach the Kingdom of
-
God and to heal the sick. They heard and were
-
healed again. People think Jesus just kind of blew into
-
town and just start healing people indiscriminately. But time and
-
again he preached and they heard. Faith came by hearing,
-
and they were healed. That's why it's so important to
-
hear in order to be healed. Now we're talking specifically
-
about healing, but this doesn't apply only the healing. I mean,
-
if we want to be victorious, if we want to
-
be an overcomer, we need to hear. If we want
-
to be holy, we need to hear. If we want
-
to be free, if we want to be protected, prospered,
-
whatever the case may be, it's we need to hear
-
the gospel. Faith comes by hearing. God watches over his
-
word to perform at Jeremiah one twelve. His word is
-
alive and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword Hebrews
-
four to twelve. Man shall not live by bread alone,
-
but by every word that comes out of the mouth
-
of God. We need to hear and be healed. He
-
sent them to preach the Kingdom of God and to
-
heal the sick. He didn't say, just go start healing people.
-
He said, preach the gospel, preach the Kingdom, and then
-
follow that up with healing. Look at verse six. And
-
they departed and went through the towns, preaching the Gospel
-
and healing everywhere, preaching and healing, preaching and healing, preaching
-
and healing. Hear and be healed. Now again, a lot
-
of folk they just wanted to be healed, but not
-
take the time to hear. I see it all the time.
-
Everybody wants an instantaneous miracle, and they do happen. But
-
it's more normal to build your faith on the word
-
of God and hear and be healed. Here and be healed.
-
But you know, many times it's at least as much,
-
if not more important to hear than it is to
-
be healed, or maybe I should say it this way.
-
We need to be at least as much, if not more,
-
interested in the healing as we are the healing. Again,
-
like I alluded to last week, if you announce a
-
meeting where there's going to be teaching on healing and
-
how to be healed, how to receive healing, people are
-
just kind of about it. Announce a meeting where there's
-
going to be signs and wonders and miracles, they give
-
five times as many people. People don't see the connection
-
between hearing and healing, between hearing and faith and receiving
-
the promises of God. Everybody just wants drive through breakthroughs.
-
They want to skip any of the effort on their
-
part and just lay hands on me so I can
-
go back and watch television, you know, just do it
-
for me. I don't have to get into the word.
-
I don't one to have to study healing scriptures, I don't
-
have to meditate them. Just can't you do your thing,
-
you know, anoime with oil and lay hands on me
-
and say shandlelah baba, and can't you just take care
-
of it that way? Well, we have our part to
-
play now. Notice they said they preached and were healed.
-
It's important not only what we hear, which is what
-
Jesus said in Mark four twenty four, right after in
-
Mark's account where he gave the parable of the so
-
or sows the seed. And if you look at that,
-
we taught on that some time ago on a Wednesday night,
-
all four of the types of soil, which are types
-
of people's lives, heart conditions, the hard ground, the thorny ground,
-
the stony ground, and the good ground. The first three
-
did not bring forth any fruit. Only the fourth, the
-
good ground, brought forth fruit. And of the good ground
-
the fourth ones only a third of them apparently brought
-
forth full fruit one hundredfold fruit because said, and some
-
brought in the good ground brought forth through thirty sixty
-
and one hundredfold. But my point is that all if
-
you look at that, we're not going to take time
-
to night. But if you look at it, all four
-
types of the soil of the heart, all of them
-
heard the word. It said, the sower sows the word.
-
And these are they which are on hard ground hear
-
the word, and then the devil comes immediately he takes
-
the seed that sown. Then it says, these are those
-
sown on thorny ground who hear the word, and then
-
it gets choked. And then these are those on heart
-
or on stony ground. They hear the word, but they
-
have no depth. Persecution, af fliction arises for the word's sake.
-
They quit, they give up. They all heard the word.
-
But he said, these on those on good ground heard
-
the word, same phrase, nothing different. I looked that into Greek.
-
It's the same Greek word. I say, well, maybe this
-
word hearing for the good ground a different word for hearing.
-
It's not. And he says the good ground heard the word,
-
but they brought forth fruit thirty sixty and one hundredfold.
-
And then just a few verses after that, Jesus says,
-
take heed what you hear, Take heed what you hear.
-
And then over in Luke, when Luke tells about the
-
sol or sowing the word, he says, take heed how
-
you hear Luke eight eighteen. So it's not only important
-
what you hear. Most of us realize that, hopefully we do.
-
You can't feed on a bunch of worldly, cardinal secular
-
stuff and fly like an eagle doesn't work. I mean,
-
people want to do it, but I've never seen anybody
-
do it successfully. Yet those that fly like eagles are
-
those that seek after God and hunger after the word,
-
read it and meditate it, and study it, and press
-
into God and worship and pray. So he tells us
-
it's not only important what we hear. Like I started
-
to say, most of the things, realize it's important what
-
we hear. But then he says, take heed, how you hear?
-
What you hear? If you're hearing truth, hearing the word
-
of God, there's obviously a certain way to hear it
-
that produces fruit thirty sixty and one hundred fold, Because
-
all four of them heard it same word, but only one.
-
I'm brought forth fruit. Take heed how you hear? And
-
and we covered this and the teaching on how to
-
bring forth thirty sixty and one hundredfold. When I did
-
a message on that, and I knew it was there,
-
but I'd never taken a time to put it together.
-
So I went to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. All
-
of them tell the parable of the sewer. All of
-
them say the good ground brought forth thirty six hundred fold,
-
and every one of them gives it just a little
-
bit of a nuance of meaning to the word hearing
-
that they did that. The other three types of soil
-
did not do. The good soil heard a certain way
-
that none of the others did. And Matthew gives us
-
a hint to it. Luke gives us a hint to it.
-
Mark gives us into it. John gives a hint to it.
-
They all add a certain meaning, and when you put
-
it together, it lets us know that. Here's how we
-
bring forth thirty sixty one hundredfold harvest on the word.
-
We hear the word, yes, but we have to hear
-
it and receive it. That's what Mark brings out. Says,
-
they heard the word and received it and brought forth
-
through thirty six and one hundredfold. Now, the word receive
-
in the Greek means too. You know, most people say, well,
-
I receive it. Any time I hear the word, I
-
receive it. Well do we The word receive It means
-
to accept, delight in and brace with obedience, to take
-
the word and embrace it with obedience, to delight in it.
-
How many people delight in the word of God that
-
you can think of? I mean, if everybody delight in
-
the word of God, there's not be an empty seat
-
here tonight. The word also means to acknowledge as one's own.
-
They heard it and received it. Receive means to acknowledge
-
his one's own. I think that's how fayir Greek English
-
lexicon defines it, to acknowledge is one's own. So they
-
hear it and they go, that's mine. I'm taking that
-
by his strikes, I was healed, he's yahweh rafa. I
-
acknowledge that as mayer, and I'm going to take that.
-
The Lord is my shepherd, the Lord is my heal.
-
I'm acknowledge that, not he is the shepherd or a
-
shepherd or your shepherd. He's my shepherd. And I shall
-
not want acknowledge it as your own. And you hear
-
the word of God. Don't think, oh, that's be nice
-
for the have or oh for some people. You know. No,
-
I acknowledge that is my own. I take it. I
-
cata lombano, and I seize it. I grab it, I
-
tackle it, I make it my own, and I'm not
-
letting go. It's mine. Hallelujah. You want it, you get
-
your own. This is mine. Oh here, I'll give you
-
some of mine. Do your own work. To your own study. Okay,
-
So Mark brings out they hear it and receive it,
-
and then Matthew says, they hear it and understanding what
-
is this saying? How does this apply in my life?
-
How does this work? I'm going to study this so
-
I can understand it. And then Luke adds another little
-
nuance and Luke says, they heard the word and in
-
an honest and good heart, possess it in an honest
-
and good heart. So obviously the others didn't have that attribute.
-
And Jesus said, to good ground, they heard the word
-
in an honest heart. Lord showed me. If I need
-
to change, I'll change. If I need to repent, I'll repent.
-
If I'm doing something wrong, I want to know it.
-
I'm not going to harden my heart. I humble myself Lord,
-
and I repent. If I need to repent in an
-
honest and a good heart, I receive this, Lord, I
-
receive this. And then Luke also adds, I said I
-
need to crack something I said. Is that Matthew, Mark,
-
Luke and John John doesn't give it. It's Matthew, Mark
-
and Luke. Because I was looking at the four things there.
-
But it's Luke that gives these two things. He says,
-
in an honest and good heart, they possess it. They
-
possess the word of God in an honest and good heart,
-
and bring forth fruit. The good ground receives the word,
-
they hear it, and they receive it in an honest
-
and good heart. They possess it in an honest and
-
good heart, and they bring forth fruit with who can
-
help me? They bring forth fruit with somebody say it, huh, nope,
-
patience who Pomenae? Well, we talked about two weeks ago
-
the power twins faith and patience. Through faith and who Pomenae,
-
we had the promises. You have need of patience, you
-
have need of who pomenae, that after you've done the
-
will of God, you might receive the promise. Run the
-
race with who pomenae. With patience, Let who pomenae have
-
her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire,
-
wanting nothing. And Jesus said in Luke, they brought forth
-
thirty sixty and one hundredfold by receiving the word and
-
exercising who pomenae, patience, steadfastness, endurance, perseverance, energetic resistance, the
-
power of endurance without complaint. They endured, they stood, they
-
did not quit, they would not give up, and they
-
didn't complain and murmuring gripe about it the whole time.
-
It was cheerful endurance. Who I got the vicar? But
-
I can tell you're not feeling good? How bias stripes
-
some heal though he's my healer. Yeah, but I heard
-
about Oh I just rejoice that he's my healer. I
-
mean some folk. You just you ask him how you're
-
doing waiting?
-
Oh?
-
Why did I say that? I should have known better?
-
Because for the next twenty minutes, you're going to get
-
an organ recital. This hurts. This organ hurts, and this hurts,
-
and this hurts, and this hurts. And it's like they
-
just keep rehearsing the problem. At some point we need
-
to shift and exercise patience, cheerful endurance without complaint, energetic resistance.
-
So that's how we That's why g said, be careful
-
how you hear Luke at eighteen? Oh again, we're not
-
left in the dark. Like, oh, he told me to
-
be careful what I hear and how I hear? But
-
how am I supposed to hear? We're not left in
-
the dark. Then if we'll just dig a little. We
-
find out how we're supposed to hear. We are supposed
-
to hear with a love and embracing and a delighting,
-
with obedience, acknowledging it is one's own, understanding it in
-
an honest and good heart, grabbing hold of it and
-
exercising who pomonade patients, steadfast endurance. And then he says
-
that kind of here will bring forth fruit with thirty,
-
sixty and one hundredfold results. Don't you want that? I do.
-
I don't want to be hard, stony or thorny ground
-
for the word. I want to bring forth fruit. And
-
I'm not satisfied with thirty. I want to move on
-
to the sixty and I don't want to get satisfied
-
or six. I want to move on to the hundredfold. Well,
-
how could you bring forth one hundredfold on the word?
-
Jesus said we could. He never lied Hebrews four two.
-
Look at it sometime it says the word preached did
-
not profit them, not being mixed with help me faith.
-
The word was preached, but it didn't help them because
-
they didn't mix faith with it. Well, that answers a
-
lot of question, right there, A lot of people don't
-
mix faith with it when the words preach, you know,
-
if they mix with it doubt, I don't know. I
-
just don't know about that. Unbelieve that can't be fear well,
-
that never work, and on and on. But we need
-
to mix faith with it we hear the word of God.
-
It's like, again, what is faith? Acting on what you hear,
-
acting on the word of God, believing it and acting
-
on it, acting on it before you see it, before
-
you feel it. Somebody's talking to me after the service recently,
-
I've maybe been last Wednesday or something. They said, you
-
know a good way that they said that they found it.
-
Understand faith because it can seem kind of nebulous. Sometime
-
they say confidence, confidence, confidence in God and what he
-
said and what he'll do. They mix confidence with it.
-
God said it all right, I had confidence in that,
-
and Hebrews eleven one does say in some translations, and
-
faith is the confidence of the things we hope for. Hallelujah.
-
We need to hear. We need to hear and be healed. See,
-
we need to be proactive in hearing. Prevention is always
-
better than cure. I can't think of a single time
-
when it's not. I mean it is. I mean you
-
can go down the line everything and anything. I can't
-
think of a single time where prevention is not better
-
than cure. It's better to not get sick than to
-
get healed. It's better to avoid car trouble than to
-
have car trouble. It's better to stay out of debt
-
than to have to get out of debt. It's better
-
to not backslide than to have to repent and get
-
right with God, and on and on. We need to
-
be proactive in hearing the word of God. Don't wait
-
till you're sick before you start studying healing and getting
-
into the Word of God. Stay, build up in the word.
-
I mean, we need to realize this. This is a
-
dangerous world. Truth be told. We need healing every day.
-
There's all kinds of stuff out there that you and
-
I aren't even aware of. We need healing every day
-
all the time. And it's better to live healed than
-
to get healing, or, let me say better, it's better
-
to be in health than to always beginning healing. A
-
lot of people just content if they could just get
-
healing all the time. Get set, get healed, get set,
-
get here, get set, get heal, get sick, Get here,
-
get sick, get heal, get set, get healed. It's a whole
-
lot better just than live in health. Three John two, Beloved,
-
I pray that you prosper and be healed. No, be
-
in health, be in health, Be in health, be in health.
-
Proverbs four twenty to twenty two. My son, attend to
-
my words and climb your ear to my sayings. Let
-
them not depart from thy eyes. Keep them in the
-
midst of thine heart for their life, to those who
-
find them in health, to all their flesh Exodus fifteen
-
to twenty six. I am the Lord, your physician, your healer.
-
Exus twenty three twenty five. I'll take sickness away from
-
the midst of you. Well, if sickness is taken away,
-
you're going to be in health. Deuteronomy seven point fifteen
-
says the same thing, I will remove all sickness from you.
-
That's a promise you want to embrace. Acknowledge as your own,
-
understand it, seize it, and exercise patience and bring forth
-
fruit on it. Hallelujah. It's good to be proactive when
-
it comes to hearing the word of God. People often
-
give the word no place, in no time. They're too busy,
-
so they give no time, no place for the word.
-
And if somebody is sick or disease, they need to
-
get extra doses of it. They need to double up
-
on it, triple up on it. We need to be proactive.
-
It works. You know, people don't give the word any
-
place and they don't get a lot of fruit. But
-
fortunately the opposite is true. If we give the word place,
-
give it first place, attend to it, it brings forth
-
much fruit thirty sixty one hundred and fold. God's word
-
is medicine. His word is alive. His word is sharper
-
than any two edged sword. It's alive. Hallelujah. Health is invaluable.
-
It is invaluable. You can't put a price on your health.
-
It's probably the most valuable possession we have, or one
-
of them. It's invaluable. So it would pay us rich
-
dividends to be in the word consistently regularly because his
-
word is medicine. I thank God, I'm walking in divine
-
health by and large, But there's times every now and
-
then where I get under attack, and man, I oh,
-
the thing I get out of that is like sickness
-
is terrible. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
-
I hate it. You have no energy, you have no
-
desire to do anything. You feel miserable, you just want
-
to lay in bed. Or if you're in pain, you're
-
just in constant pain that affects everything you do and
-
you're just not yourself. But when you're feeling good, it's great.
-
Health is invaluable. Why would somebody not have time for
-
something that is medicine to all their flesh and where
-
they could hear and be healed. Why would they not
-
want to bring forth fruit? Well, they do want to
-
bring forth fruit, but they don't want to do what
-
it takes to bring forth fruit. Thirty sixty one hundredfold.
-
Where we at Luke nine? What six is that where
-
we left off? Or do we get the eleven six? Okay,
-
go to verse eleven Luke nine to eleven. And the people,
-
when they knew it, followed him, and he received them
-
and spoke under them of the Kingdom of God, and
-
healed them that had need of healing. Again, they heard
-
and were healed. We think it was just an indiscriminate thing. No,
-
he spoke to them the Kingdom of God. He preached
-
the Gospel, and they were healed. They heard and were healed. Hallelujah.
-
Can't go to Luke four, look at a few mormill
-
clothes Luke four and verse forty three. And he said,
-
under them, I must preach the Kingdom of God. See
-
Jesus knew what was important. He and said, I must
-
go heal. He said, I must preach. I must preach
-
the Kingdom, the rule and reign of God. I must
-
preach the Kingdom of God to other cities. For them
-
I sand, and he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
-
Now notice chapter five, verse one. And it came to
-
pass that as the people pressed upon him to hear
-
the word of God, not to be healed, but to
-
hear the word of God. That's hunger. They pressed on
-
him to hear the word of God. Nowadays, it seems
-
most people are just so apathetic and complacent and lacks
-
of days ago about the Word of God. In hearing it,
-
it's saying, well, you know, maybe maybe not some of
-
you were a part of it. But I remember in
-
the charismatic renewal Word of faith renewal in the seventies
-
and eighties, people are so hungry for the Word of
-
God because it was like a brand new, fresh revelation.
-
I mean we would wait in line outside auditoriums for
-
an hour or more just to get in there and
-
run and get in the front seat where you could
-
get under the spout where the glory came out. Now
-
like the church sign I saw. Now, it's like come
-
early so you can get a back seat. That's where
-
you know what a change in attitude. I mean in
-
that word of faith charismatic. They know people couldn't get
-
enough of the Word of God, and they were hauling
-
tape players around everywhere. I don't know how they'd manufacture
-
enough cassette tapes that time. I mean they were going
-
right and left. We were copying them, duplicating them, passing
-
them out. Here. Have you heard this? No, here, give
-
me let me have that series on here. You gotta
-
check this out. Okay, I'll take that. Man. We were
-
hungry for the Word. I'm still that way. But I
-
know a lot of people who were around then that
-
they're not, Oh, anything new, it's on TV. What's the
-
latest video game? What's the latest attraction at the theme park?
-
I need something to tickle my ears. What's the latest
-
fatty'sh teaching or something, or or you know what's the
-
latest spectacular thing going on? Said, just the word, the word,
-
the word. That's where the life is, that's where the path.
-
They pressed on him to hear the word of God
-
now not his verse twelve. And it came to pass
-
when he was in a certain city. Behold a man
-
full of leprosy, who's seeing Jesus fell on his face
-
and beside him, saying, Lord, if you will, you can
-
make me clean. But notice he wasn't healed. Believing that
-
he believed Jesus could good like a lot of people,
-
but he wasn't healed. He was still full of leprosy.
-
Even though he believed Jesus could. His problem was he
-
wasn't sure that he wanted to. It was right on
-
the money what you said at the opening. You know
-
he wants they say, asked Jesus, if you want to,
-
you can make me ho And he said I want to.
-
One translate said, of course I want to. He wants
-
us healed, he wants his curity, wants us cleansed. He
-
knew he could, he knew he could, he wasn't sure
-
if he wanted to, and Jesus put forth his hand
-
verse thirteen and touched him, saying I will or I
-
want to be clean, and immediately the leprosy departed from him.
-
To notice, the man asked if you will, Jesus said,
-
I will, if you want, I want to. When did
-
Jesus ever say I won't. Can anybody give me a
-
chapter and verse where Jesus said I won't, or somebody
-
come and came to him and said, if you will
-
you and Jesus said no, I won't, because God's trying
-
to teach you something, or this is for your good,
-
or this is working character into you. This is perfect
-
all that religious traditions, which is right from the devil.
-
Jesus never said I won't. He said I will. Now
-
these people, it says he say he won't. For something
-
to be scriptural, there must be scriptures to back it up.
-
They don't have scriptures to back it up, so it's
-
not scriptural. It's the traditions of man which make of
-
non effect the word of God. He never said I won't,
-
he said I will. Look at verse fifteen, But so
-
much the more went their fame abroad of him. Now
-
notice this, and great multitudes remember I established earlier that
-
in one place at least a multitude was ten to
-
fifteen thousand a multitude. This is a great multitude, now, notice,
-
and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed,
-
to hear and to be healed here, and be healed
-
here and be healed. Salvation as well, I'll say it
-
this way. Healing, just like sad. Salvation starts with hearing.
-
Faith comes by hearing. Romans ten fourteen says, how shall
-
they believe unless they hear? How shall they hear without
-
a preacher? How shall they preach unless they are sent?
-
Faith comes by hearing the word of God? How are
-
they going to believe unless they hear? They came to
-
hear and to be healed. Hallelujah. Oh okay, amount of time.
-
Let's just we're here, let's just we'll read this and
-
we'll take it up here next time. Verse sixteen. And
-
Jesus would drew himself into the wilderness and prayed. And
-
it came to pass on a certain day, as he
-
was teaching, as he was, what teaching as he was,
-
what teaching?
-
Well?
-
Was he teaching the word on a certain day as
-
he was teaching? Mayboy once a just skip the teaching,
-
get to the healings and the miracles and the deliverance
-
and the freedom and the prosperity. They don't want to
-
have the word, the teaching that builds the faith, that
-
causes faith to lay hold of the promises of God.
-
On a certain day, as he was teaching the where
-
pharisees and doctors of the Law sitting by, which would
-
come out of every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem.
-
And notice, as he was teaching the power of the Law,
-
Lord was present to heal them. As he was teaching
-
the power, the Lord was present to heal them, and
-
none of them got healed. There's no indication that any
-
of them got healed, only the one man that they
-
tore open the roof and let him down on a cot.
-
And Jesus said, Gris verse twenty four, take up your
-
bed and walk. None of all these people were there,
-
and none of them were getting healed, and yet the
-
power was present to heal. Why were they not being healed?
-
The Word tells us verse twenty and when Jesus saw
-
their faith, so even though he was teaching, apparently they
-
weren't mixing faith with it they weren't embracing it, they
-
weren't grabbing hold of it. They weren't allowing faith to come.
-
They must have been hearing it like the stony ground,
-
the hard ground, the thorny ground, with unbelief or doubt
-
or fear, or like I just don't know about this,
-
and I think that's passed away. That's not for it today.
-
But that would never work for me. We can hear
-
it and it's still not do us any good. I mean,
-
it's sad for me or any preacher to know that
-
on any given ser many preachers, there's people that go
-
out there and didn't do them a bit of good
-
because they didn't. They may have heard it, but they
-
didn't mix faith with it, or they questioned around. I
-
just don't know about that. I don't think that would work.
-
Or they didn't even hear the minders off somewhere else.
-
But these people Jesus saw their faith, now says he
-
saw their faith. Where do they get the faith? I
-
believe this is what I believe. You can believe something else.
-
I can't prove this with the scripture, but you can't
-
disprove it with the scripture. So when we get to heaven.
-
You'll find out I'm right and you're wrong. But I
-
can't prove this, but I think I have good evidence
-
for it. I believe it says these four men they went.
-
I'm saying for I've always heard four, but doesn't say for.
-
I wonder if one of the other passages it does,
-
but i've always heard four. Anyway, we'll say his friends,
-
these men they went. It says they open up the
-
roof and they let him down. And Jesus saw their faith.
-
Whose faith? The men faith that let him down? And
-
the man's faith on the bed, Because that takes some faith.
-
I mean, if you're a paralytic, do you even take
-
some faith if we said, hey, we're gonna haul you
-
up on the roof, here tear open the roof and
-
let you down on some ropes. But that takes some
-
faith on your part. I mean, they might roll you
-
off the roof, then you're really in bad shape. That
-
takes some faith. Might fall through the roof. Oh he's dead.
-
Now he was paralyzed, but now he's dead. Oh, Jesus
-
said fear and the hat only believe. But I'll conclude this,
-
he saw their faith. Now here's what I'm saying I
-
can't definitely prove it, but I think I have strong
-
evidence for it. Here's what I think happened. The men
-
will say, the four men they were in that meeting,
-
they heard Jesus. They said, let's go get Simeon. Let's
-
go kidd him. Did you hear what I heard? Yeah?
-
I heard it too. The power that the spirit of
-
the Lord is upon him. He's anointed to preach deliverance
-
of the captors. He's preaching the year. Do you believe
-
in your freedom? Let's go get Simeon. He's down there paralyzed.
-
We need to get him in this meeting. And they
-
go and they get him, and they come back and
-
their seats taken. They pressed to hear the word of God.
-
Oh what are we gonna do? And one of the
-
must have an idea. I don't care. Let's go up
-
on the roof, tear the roof open. I've heard two
-
interpretative with some people say this is Peter's home, others
-
say it was jesus home. In one place that does
-
say they went to his house. Speaking of jesus house, See,
-
Jesus wasn't so poor, he didn't have anything. That's a
-
tradition of men. He had a treasure they gave to
-
the poor. He took care of a whole entourage of
-
people that traveled with him, and women helped out. We
-
know that, but I can imagine the talk. But he
-
saw their faith. I think these men were in the meeting.
-
They had faith, would say, whoa, let's go get Simeon.
-
They'd lower Simeon down. And Jesus can sense the faith
-
coming out of him. He says, I say, do you rise,
-
take up your bed and walk. And he rose, took
-
up his bed and walked. Jesus would have said, according
-
to your faith, be it unto you, unto you, Collelijah, Father,
-
we thank you. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by
-
the word of God. And the more we feed on
-
the word, the more faith comes, the more faith comes,
-
the more confidence we have. And what you've said, and
-
what you've promised, and what you've told us, Lord, we
-
thank you that we can be here and be healed.
-
Lord teach us to take heed not only what we hear,
-
but how we hear, and that when we hear the
-
word of God, we would not allow ourselves to be
-
distracted or have wandering minds. Or wandering thoughts. But rather
-
we would hear it and accept it, delight in it,
-
and embrace it with obedience. We would acknowledge it as
-
our own. We would understand it in an honest and
-
good heart, possess it and exercise patience and bring forth
-
fruit thirty sixty and one hundredfold in our own lives,
-
and then go out and minister healing and life and
-
salvation to others. Hallelujah. In fact, let's make that our
-
prayer in that confession. Our confession is we endeavor to
-
bring this to a close. Say this when we close
-
your eyes and just say and pray this with me. Lord,
-
teach me what to hear and how to hear. Thank
-
you for listening. We hope that you enjoyed today's episode.
