-
communion together. I'm going to be speaking on Eat the Lamb,
-
and go ahead and get your communion elements. You don't
-
need fancy church elements. I've brought some iced tea and
-
I've brought a ritz cracker, So I'm just trying to
-
show you be creative because we're going to be partaking together.
-
It's not how fancy the elements are, but it's the
-
understanding of what's available through communion and what Jesus has
-
accomplished for us. Get a pen and paper. If you
-
did not get the notes, we mailed them out on Friday.
-
We emailed them. And if you do not get the
-
email and you would like the notes, if you will
-
go to our website www dot vcfsummrset dot com and
-
go to the little spot that says about there's a
-
place where you can email us and give us your
-
email address and we will mail you that on Friday,
-
so you having in advance and you can print those
-
off or be looking at your computer as we go
-
through the notes week by week, because we want you
-
well informed and well equipped in this hour. Amen. So
-
we're going to talk about communion, about eat the lamb,
-
the Old Testament, What does the Old Testament have to say.
-
We're going to briefly look at this. We're going to
-
just hit some points and things that I want you
-
to see today. What we call communion are the Lord's Supper.
-
All began with the Israelites exodus from Egyptian bondage, and
-
that began the introduction of passover. Visual lights have been
-
in a little over four hundred years, and they had
-
grown into a very powerful nation, and they had God's
-
favor and blessing on their life, and God knew it
-
was now time for them to be delivered from this bondage.
-
They were about to be set free, but there was
-
one more plague. Of the Egyptians had faced nine, but
-
there was one more that the Egyptians had to face.
-
Here's something though, this is something very interesting and unique
-
about this plague. That the Israelites would be subject to
-
this plague as well unless they had proper preparation and protection.
-
Preparation and protection. And this is what I want you
-
to see about the Lord's Supper for you and I.
-
We can have preparation for the things that we're facing
-
right now, and we can have protection. They had to
-
slay an animal. Most of them would have used the lamb,
-
So I'll just be referring to a lamb throughout this
-
and entire ape. That's Christ for us. So when we
-
get over to the New Testament, you'll see how Christ
-
fulfilled this. And they were to apply the blood of
-
the lamb to their home on the sidepost and the
-
top lentil for our protection. And then they were to
-
eat the roasted lamb. And those elements are represented for
-
us in communion. Let's look at two verses in Exodus
-
chapter twelve, and I want this to come alive to you.
-
Exodus twelve, verse seven. Then they are to take some
-
of the blood and put it on the sides and
-
tops of the door frames of the houses where they
-
eat the lamb. Verse eight. That same night, they are
-
to eat the meat roasted over the fire. Now get
-
this along with bitter herbs. Now, if you're at home,
-
say that with me. Bitter herbs and braid bread made
-
without yeas. That verse eight really speaks to me. I
-
want this to come alive. So the blood was applied
-
to the door frames in the top lentil, and they
-
were eat to eat the roasted meat, and they were
-
to put bitter herbs on the meat in preparation. And
-
the bread was to be made without yeast, and yeast
-
in the Bible is always a reference to sin. So
-
in essence, they were to make this bread leave any
-
sin behind. They were getting ready to leave exodus and
-
go out and be brought into the Promised Land eventually,
-
and we're to leave sin behind, and that we do
-
that we make a confession of that when we have
-
communion together. Before things are mentioned here blood, meat, bitter
-
herbs on the meat, and bread without yeast, specific instructions.
-
Now I want to bring up a thought here, and
-
I want you to track with me for a moment,
-
especially the time we're in history. If you sprinkled the
-
blood on the doorpost, that's awesome, that's part of the atonement.
-
Absolutely your salvation in type for us redemption for those
-
in the Old Testament. Right here the death angel passing
-
by for us in type when we apply to our
-
homes the coronavirus passing by any other type of plague,
-
or any other type of sickness. But to appropriate all
-
that the atonement meant and what it means for us,
-
you had to eat the lamb. And if you ate
-
the lamb, you cooked it. You were to put some
-
bitter herbs on it. Now here's the deal. The enemy
-
of our soul, the devil, and his trickery. He would
-
have us turning things upside down and getting the cart
-
before the horse, and getting us completely out of balance
-
in this time, and this is a time for balance
-
in our life like never before. We need balance in
-
our lives, in our families. It might be a time
-
where many are getting their life into balance for the
-
first time. In what the devil himself back by the
-
legion of demons and all those forces, he will arrange
-
for you to have the opportunity to eat more herbs,
-
more bitter herbs than you eat the nourishing lamb. If
-
you're not diligent in this critical hour we all live in,
-
including myself, we can participate in large servings of tribulation
-
and bitter herbs. The call today March twenty ninth, twenty twenty,
-
seeing the example in the Book of Exodus, people who
-
were preparing for their deliverance. You and I preparing for
-
our freedom in our deliverance. Let's get back to eating
-
the lamb and slow down on bitter herbs. It's a
-
choice you make. You have to renew your mind and
-
you have to stay focused in this hour. You know,
-
Jesus speaking to his disciples, he said this in John,
-
these things I've spoken unto you because in me you
-
can have peace. You can have peace in this world.
-
You are going to have some tribulation. You are, we're
-
having some right now. But he says, be of good cheer.
-
I have overcome the world. Jesus has overcome this. It
-
is a moment of tribulation and trial, different complications, different
-
ones that maybe are facing this. We pray for them.
-
We don't take that lightly. But if we put too
-
many herbs on the lamb, on our relationship with Jesus,
-
the bitter herbs will make the lamb bitter. You know.
-
It just takes a little bit of something bitter, bitter
-
herbs on the meat to make a very flavorable, tasty substance,
-
something very very good. Those of you that are chefs.
-
I'm not, but those of you that are. You put
-
all kinds of things on your meat by themselves, they
-
would not be good. Too much of it it would
-
ruin the meat. But the right proportion it makes it good.
-
So let's not let too much of this tribulation, this
-
bitter herb, get on our relationship with the Lord. You know, personally,
-
I like garlic as a seasoning. I'm from Louisiana. I
-
like things seasoned well. But have you ever had something
-
to eat where the chef got carried away with the garlic?
-
For days, all you taste is garlic. If anyone gets
-
around you that's had that, after you've eaten all that garlic,
-
they know you've had too much garlic. What I'm saying
-
is the trap the devil makes available, is that a
-
participant pay right now and everything and anything but the lamb,
-
and you and I are going to eat the lamb
-
in Jesus' name, Let's just slow down. Let's get our
-
feet on the rock on Jesus, keep our fixation on God.
-
Lean into this relationship. I challenge you in the morning,
-
don't turn on the news first. Turn on the best
-
news first, the good news first. Build yourself up and
-
let God speak to you, eat from the lamb our
-
own passover, and let's not allow too much of this
-
bitterness and distribulation to spoil the meat. Our priority is
-
keep the blood on the doorpost, keep the blood of
-
Jesus over your life, keep the lamb on the table,
-
and let's just watch God do something through this. You know,
-
it'd be interesting to videotape your life right now. I
-
bet for many of you it's very calm and very soothing,
-
and it's great. Those of you, though with children, are
-
grandchildren at home with you twenty four to seven, and
-
you're trying to homeschool, and this, that and the other.
-
It's probably a zoo. In fact, your home might look
-
like a zoo. What I've enjoyed different people are sending
-
me pictures of what they're doing creatively. They're out fishing
-
with their family, they're reading, they're playing games outside, they're
-
doing board games inside, they're reading the Bible, they're worshiping,
-
they're doing things where they're allowing to pull the lamb
-
up and eat and get well and stay well. For
-
any of us right now, life has been totally altered.
-
Am I little saying I feel like a fish out
-
of water. Now I'm still moving and I'm still squirming,
-
but it is a little bit awkward if I'm honest.
-
Here's my pastor or advice, wherever possible. Shut down some
-
of the voices, the things that are clanging for your attention,
-
the bitter earth herbs that want to just spoil your
-
joy and make you focus on the tribulation rather than
-
the deliverance. Close the door to those unnecessary distractions and
-
those fears they're real. Shut the door to them. Put
-
the blood over the doors of your house, your spiritual house,
-
and your family. Pull yourself up to the table and
-
eat from the lamb until you are well and strong
-
and you're ready for this journey. Amen, I'm talking about
-
just take advantage of this slowdown. Feast on Jesus because
-
he's our health. Read the Word of God, worship, put
-
some worship music on. Read materials in books that are
-
going to build your faith. Have Thanksgiving going on. Here's something. Laugh,
-
laugh a lot, Smile your face won't break. It might
-
actually cause a contagiousness of others in your home. Be
-
sure whatever you eat spiritually right now, it's centered on Jesus.
-
Then you can tell others what you've partaken of and
-
they can receive strength from you because you've experienced him,
-
you know him, you've been partaking of him. You share
-
what's in you. Anyway, out of the abundance of the heart,
-
the mouth speaks. So what are some of the first
-
things that come out of your mouth when you're speaking
-
to someone on the home? Are in social distancing? We
-
have the opportunity right now to be the church like
-
never before. I know it would not be appropriate to
-
me and gather as a group because of just how
-
this disease spreads. But this does not stop the church.
-
I encourage you be more creative than ever before. You
-
can be more effective in this hour. Let's get to
-
the New Testament. Now, New Testament communion move over there.
-
After the ascension of Christ, the Christian Church recognize that
-
Christ became our passover. They saw the correlation. They understood it.
-
One Corinthians five, verse seven. Get rid of the old yeast,
-
so that you may be a new, unleaven batch as
-
you really are. What you are, you're new for Christ
-
our passover, Lamb. He has been sacrificed, Jesus fulfilled passover.
-
He became the lamb. Therefore, he eliminated the necessity of
-
the yearly sacrifice. As I've said before, aren't you're so
-
glad you didn't have to bring fidoh or some other
-
animal to sacrifice a church. Jesus has paid that the
-
cup representing the blood and the bread representing the body
-
the meat became a symbol of the completed work accomplished
-
at the death of Christ. We as believe we received
-
the cup and bread to celebrate the finished work of Christ.
-
The apostle Paul informed the church at corinth about the
-
importance of having the believer received the Lord's supper. It's important.
-
That's why we're going to do this together momentarily first
-
Corinthians eleven, starting in verse twenty four, And when he
-
had given thanks, he broke it and said, this is
-
my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance
-
of me, in remembrance of Jesus Christ. In the same way,
-
after supper, he took the cup, saying, this cup is
-
the new covenant in my blood. Do this whenever you
-
drink it in remembrance of me, in remembrance of Christ's
-
life and his death and what he paid for for.
-
Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup. You
-
are proclaiming the Lord's death that finished work until he comes.
-
After Jesus was raised from the dead, he again was
-
breaking bread in the home of his disciples and his
-
followers Luke twenty four, verse thirty. Luke twenty four, verse thirty.
-
When he was at the table with them, with the disciples,
-
he took bread, he gave thanks, broke it and began
-
to give it to them verse thirty one. Then their
-
eyes were open and they recognized him, and he disappeared
-
from their sight. This particular illustration was with those on
-
the road to Emmaeus, and there they have Jesus with him,
-
and they didn't even realize it. But when they broke
-
the bread and he blessed it and they partook, suddenly
-
their eyes were open. I said, their eyes were open.
-
I'm telling you there's something about communion, and you understanding
-
whatever represents When you partake of it, your eyes, your
-
spiritual eyes, your heart art can be opened. Let's go
-
back up to Matthew twenty five, verse twenty six through
-
twenty eight. I want you to see this when he
-
was with the disciples, because I skipped that originally While
-
they were eating, Jesus took bread. When they had given thanks,
-
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
-
take eat. This is my body. Then he took a cup,
-
and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying,
-
drink from it, all of you. This is my blood
-
of the Covenant, which has poured out for many for
-
the forgiveness of sins. You can see he had the
-
Lord's supper with the disciples and with those on the
-
road to Emmaeus. I believe there's just something so significant
-
when we understand the importance of this. So here we
-
are today, right now, March twenty ninth, a deadly disease
-
of virus that's sweeping not only our state in all
-
fifty states, but literally the world. This outbreak of the coronavirus.
-
What are you doing about it? What are you thinking
-
about it? We need a revelation of our full atonement.
-
Our protection can be supernatural, just as it was for
-
the children of Visual and their exodus. So I've sent
-
these points to get to hear. Here we go two
-
things from the Old Testament. Number one, the lamb's blood
-
on the door post restrained the destroying angel from taking
-
the life of one single Hebrew. That's awesome. Two, the
-
roasted lamb with just a little bit of herb, bitter herbs,
-
brought physical healing to an entire nation. And one night
-
it says no one was feeble. That was a big
-
group of people, Not one of them were feeble. New
-
Testament application. Let's understand this. If the blood and the
-
body of an earthly lamb restrained the destroyer and it
-
brought health, It refrained the destroyer and it brought health,
-
how much more can the blood and the body of
-
Christ protect you and I the believer? This is awesome news.
-
Let that become a revelation. Let it become a foundation,
-
revelation and a foundation. As the ancient Hebrew nation ate
-
the lamb and received healing and applied the blood for protection. Likewise,
-
we're going to partake of the bread and the cup
-
to receive our healing. Some of you might need a
-
physical healing today. Receive that by faith, and we're going
-
to drink the blood or the juice or the orange juice,
-
whatever you have, and proclaim that as a protection over
-
our family and our homes. John six, verse fifty three.
-
Jesus said to them. I tell you the truth. Unless
-
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
-
drink his blood, you have no life in you. There's
-
something about the revelation of this communion. It brings you life,
-
and people are looking for others who have life. We're
-
gonna have some life. Verse fifty five. Jesus said, my
-
flesh is real food, my blood is real drink verse
-
fifty six. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
-
remains in me and I in him Verse fifty seven.
-
Just as the Living Father sent me, and I live
-
because of the Father, so the one who feeds on
-
me will live because of me. You will live because
-
of Jesus. Verse fifty eight. This is the bread that
-
came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died.
-
They passed away. But he who feeds on this bread
-
will live forever. And that's talking about our eternal salvation.
-
You're eating it by faith as a proclamation. Jesus is
-
my Lord, and I'm gonna live forever. You drink the cup.
-
Jesus is my Lord, and I'm gonna live forever. I
-
am so wanting this to become just life to you
-
and come alive in your spirit. Picture that communion cup
-
and the bread in the manner that you would nutrients
-
from the food you're eating right now at your house.
-
Proper foods are high and beneficial nutrients that when they're
-
released in our bodies, when the food molecules are broken down,
-
it brings you life and health. You know, I can
-
hold up a plate of food. This is just a
-
little thing. I have the cracker in. But I could
-
hold up a plate of food all day long and
-
tell you, oh, wow, this is good for you. Man,
-
this is good. Wow, this is good, and then just
-
eat it, not give you any put it back down.
-
It's not going to do you any good. No vitamins,
-
no protein, no minerals. Nothing. Likewise, we can talk about
-
the fact that Christ died on the cross to save us,
-
and he was beaten and he was bruised to heal us,
-
but simply discussing that that event has no impact on
-
your life unless you believe in your heart and you
-
confess Jesus with your mouth. That's in Romans ten. You
-
believe and you confess, you partake, you're doing something with it.
-
So when we eat the bread and drink the cup,
-
it is more than flour or whatever you're using for
-
the body. It's more than a cup grape juice. It's
-
not a routine. It's not to be a routine. Just
-
our confession leads to salvation, and God honors our prayers
-
when we pray in conviction and repentance. Wise, the Father
-
honors an act of faith when we partake of communion.
-
Our healing has been bought through Christ's suffering. But we
-
need to properly discern the body of Christ. The Word
-
of God tells us that we must comprehend what really
-
happened at the whipping post, the piercing of his side,
-
the thorns on his head, the nails in his hands,
-
the nails in his feet. When we take communion in
-
remembrance what he did, and you understand that, get ready
-
for something great. You're stewarding the greatest testimony in history. Listen,
-
we need faith right now because we're human. I need faith.
-
If I really receive that and understand that my faith,
-
your faith, it will lead to hope. People. We need hope,
-
and so does everyone else around you. Hope is what
-
connects us to the future. But the moment you lose hope,
-
that's the moment you're disconnected to the future. I want
-
to pray, just like if I had hundreds of people
-
right here, right now, I'm going to pray. We're going
-
to make a confession about Jesus being Lord and savior.
-
You might be just a wholehearted follower after Christ. I
-
encourage you to do this anyway. Maybe you've been away
-
from Christ. I encourage you to believe it and mean
-
it and say it. Maybe you've never accepted Christ and
-
you can see what He's done for you. Would you
-
pray with me right where you are, wherever you are,
-
and let's allow Jesus to be our lord before we partake.
-
Would you bow with me as I lead us in
-
a prayer? Just repeat after me. Dear Jesus, I acknowledge
-
you as the way, the truth, and the life. I
-
need a savior, and you're the only way. You're the
-
only connection I have to a holy God. You made
-
a way through your sacrifice, your crucifixion, your blood, your
-
broken body, the full atonement of all that means. So
-
I declare, and I say, right now, Jesus is my Lord,
-
he is my savior. Forgive me Lord of all my
-
sin and become the center of my heart in my life,
-
I declare I will live forever as Jesus said, for
-
those that partake of you. So I thank you today.
-
I am saved in Jesus's name. Amen, I'm excited for you. Now.
-
If you will, wherever you are, would you get the
-
body of the Lord, the lamb that we're not going
-
to let too much tribulation or bitter herbs. Get upon
-
what we eat right now, for this day, for this week,
-
for the duration of what we face. If you need
-
to break it, if it's a loaf of bread or whatever,
-
go ahead and do that. I'm gonna bless it, and
-
we're gonna partake. And by doing this, you're saying, Lord,
-
I'm leaning into you and I'm gonna eat a lot
-
from you every day. So let me bless the broken body. Jesus.
-
I thank you for your body that was broken for us,
-
for the price that you paid. I thank you, Lord.
-
There's so much in your atonement we didn't even have
-
time to mention. But by eating of this, we're receiving strength.
-
We're making a declaration we're not gonna get brought into
-
too much of the fear, in worry and anxiety, we're
-
gonna walk in wisdom. But we're not gonna be destroyed
-
by this. We're gonna be made through this time of
-
tribulation in our life. We're gonna partake of you. We
-
thank you that you're our Lord in our savior. In
-
Jesus' name, let's partake. Take your cup. I've got my
-
iced tea. Let it represent the blood. Put it over
-
the doorpost of your house, of your vehicle. It's your workplace,
-
your children, your family, your neighbors. Let's apply it that
-
the death angel, sickness and disease won't touch you. Father,
-
we thank you for your blood. It never loses its power.
-
It's so powerful. We understand what it represents. And Father,
-
as we partake of this right now, I thank you Lord,
-
your broken body, your blood. It's bringing healing to people's
-
bodies right now who need a touch from you, who
-
need to be freed from fear or worry. And I
-
thank you Lord you encouraging them, and we're careful to
-
give Jesus all the praise in Jesus' name. Let's partake
-
together now. Each occasion you have to have communion at
-
your home. Encourage you to do it. You might do
-
this once a week right now, or every week, every
-
other week, or every day, whatever you want to do.
-
It's an opportunity to say and proclaim and confess. I
-
hereby lay hold of all the benefits of Jesus Christ,
-
full redemption from my life, forgiveness, wholeness, strength, health, sufficiency, peace, calmness,
-
a sound mind. And when we use communion as a
-
tool for intercession, hear me, it is a tool for intercession.
-
We are not only realigning ourselves with Christ, but we're
-
proclaiming the reality of Heaven over every area of our lives. Listen,
-
Jeanette nine and the hoststaff were praying for you. We
-
love you. Please stay in touch, text, call email. It's
-
a time to connect, connect with others in the body
-
of Christ. Connect with your neighbors. Remember we're going to
-
be praying every day online at twelve fifteen Monday through Friday,
-
except Wednesday, it'll be at seven pm at night, it'll
-
be live streaming, and of course Sunday morning at ten thirty.
