Welcome to Pinoy Tagalog Sermon Podcast, your daily dose of inspiring,
-
heartfelt Tagalog sermons from different pastors and speakers all over
-
the Philippines. We hope that this podcast finds you in
-
good shape. And now here's your message. It'll come. Well,
-
you know it already most of you do. Let's do it.
-
This is my Bible, it is the standard I live
-
my life by. I am a spiritfuled believer, sustained by
-
my personal relationship with the Lord, empowered by my commitment
-
to community and express throughout reach to others. Therefore, I
-
can say, and all right, we're going to interrupt the
-
series on Galatians for today, regalations for for next week.
-
But I want to start with just a great video.
-
The most Amazing Man Alive.
-
The most Amazing man alive. Police often questioned him just
-
because they find him interesting. He once counted to infinity twice.
-
His picture is worth a billion words. He is both
-
left handed and right handed. It only takes him twenty
-
minutes to one sixty minutes. He can't judge a book
-
by its cover. He uses to askos locks instead of
-
by seeing. He can speak Braille. He once beat up
-
the man who invented boxing. He once overthrew a Third
-
World dictator by making a single phone call. His barbecue
-
ribs are so good. He was given a Nobel Peace Prize.
-
People come from miles around just to watch his beard grow.
-
He was turned down for the Lead and Cool Hand
-
Look because he was too cool. He never asked for
-
directions because he has never lost. He had to walk
-
to school, appeal both ways in the snow barefoot. There
-
is no lufa in his shower. He uses an sosa.
-
He has had a full time job since he was two.
-
He is not afraid of the dark. The dark is
-
afraid of him. His favorite food is steak. Sometimes he
-
even cooks it. He won the Bulletser for a grocery
-
list he scribbled out on an apple. He once was
-
named Man of the Year on January eight. He does
-
not lift weights. He cannot find any that are heavy enough.
-
He knows what to do with a Klondike pack. He
-
is the most amazing man alive. He is your father.
-
Happy Father's Day, My friends.
-
Come on thereby, let's give all the man a hand clap.
-
Let's do yeah, you know, and rightfully so we celebrate
-
Mother's Day, and it's awesome, and you get to Father's
-
Day kind of like your dirty dog give You know,
-
we need to celebrate men because men are awesome, and
-
we're gonna make it special. They are, yes, yes, and
-
don't forget at the close of service, we've got something
-
special for every man in the house. You know, let's
-
not make it just fathers. They have about Father's week.
-
What if the man gets to control the TV remote
-
all week long? Someone like that. As Sarah feared Abraham
-
and called him lord, You're gonna be called lord for
-
a whole week. I just went lordy, lordy. Okay, oh
-
my hey, We're gonna look at a day in scripture
-
that will help you. And I remember, God wants us
-
men to think legacy. Everybody say legacy, very very important,
-
very important. That men understand stand this, every man, every woman.
-
So even though I'm addressed seeing men, this applies to
-
the ladies just as much. Every single parent. Wherever you
-
find yourself today, God wants you to be able to
-
leave and create a venue for legacy. No matter how
-
we have started, no matter how we have failed, no
-
matter how much we've blundered, no matter how much we've
-
maybe taken no responsibility God can change things and do
-
things quickly in your life so that you finish well,
-
finish well, So it's not just starting, it's finishing well.
-
I've seen many people start something, a project or something spiritual,
-
whatever it is, only to stop quickly. And I'd rather
-
see someone start slowly and finish strong. So everybody say,
-
finish strong. And while you have bread and you have
-
this day, God, out of his mercy and his grace,
-
can begin to create legacy from your life and just
-
help you. Legacy is such a great word, and basically
-
it's just something that's handed down by a predecessor, someone
-
that is just giving you something of value for your life,
-
to help you so that you can run your race
-
in such an accurate way, godly way, and that way
-
you can finish strong and keep this process going. The
-
picture I think of is when you drop a pebble
-
or rock in water and boom, Okay, there you are
-
your legacy. But if you've done this correct, thinking about
-
not yourself but those that are following and those that
-
are going to take up your mantle, it begins to expand.
-
The circles get bigger and bigger. Are you with me?
-
How many men want something to outlive you and live
-
way beyond you, and all the men say, yes, I
-
think of qualities that create legacy, like trust and faith. Men,
-
how about the word commitment and the effect of commitment
-
a life of devotion. Are beginning to live a life
-
of devotion or just deciding I'm going to live a
-
dedicated life with God's principles. Legacy begins with all of that. Again,
-
it's it's not how you started or what's happened in
-
your past that always defines you. Because very often the
-
people that have great impact in society, they had a
-
very rough start, they had very poor examples, but somehow
-
they were able to realize life wasn't just about them,
-
it was about all those who would follow them. God
-
could be giving you mercy today, giving me mercy today
-
to defy a brand new future, something that's just awesome.
-
To define a legacy you may not even see in
-
your own life right now, but you're going to say
-
I'm going to make decisions and quality choices so that
-
legacy does follow. And everyone says, now, I'm honorative. Had
-
a lot of men and have a lot of men
-
in my life who have impacted me in ministry, in
-
what I'm doing. I have three overseers. My pastor, brother
-
Larry Stockstill. We were texting and emailing each other throughout
-
the week, thanking him for his impact in my life.
-
And he will be here eventually, comes periodically every few
-
years to other overseers, Mike ware and Jeff Tarbas. They're
-
in periodically. You've met them whenever there's an emergency or
-
a need or whatever. Right here to be here with you.
-
Two men are who are now with the Lord, Brother
-
Billy Hornsby. Some of you go back real far and
-
remember Brother Billy and his impact on my life. Brother
-
Larry's dad, Roy Stockstill, who passed away a year and
-
a half ago. I think of my own dad, John Harrow,
-
he passed away thirty three years ago, healthy at could be,
-
and just the different things that he would do to
-
help and serve in our community. He was also a
-
volunteer fireman. My little community was kind of like Mayberry RFD.
-
Anybody like to watch Mayberry RFD really kind of describes
-
the community. The small community I grew up in Louisiana,
-
everybody helping doing no matter what. My dad was a
-
volunteer fireman and one of the rescues that trained to
-
relm and he got some very toxic material on him,
-
which led to a cancer that ended up taking his life.
-
But he was a man of his word. Now, I
-
remember as a kid going in our little bank because
-
we had a farm, and all the things that he did,
-
I remember this. I saw it. He would borrow money
-
with a handshake, no paper signed ever, can't do that now.
-
And then as selling the cows and all the things
-
that would take place in the farm, he'd pay back always,
-
I said always, because a man pays back his loans. Amen.
-
That's just who he was. He would help the needy.
-
I mean, he would help people up. Our phone would
-
often ring throughout the night because Dad, even though he
-
had great principles, had great mercy. So in the community
-
when people got in trouble, and I grew up in
-
the area where there was a lot a lot of alcohol,
-
and so when people would be drunk or whatever get
-
put in jail, inevitably they would call Dad, because my
-
dad would go bail them out and he'd lecture them
-
and he talked to them, and then he'd make them
-
work on the farm and he'd witness to him. Now,
-
that's what he did all the time. So when I'd
-
hear the phone ring in the middle of the night
-
and I go here, he goes again. If there was
-
an he saw the need. Our community needed a golf course.
-
My older brother played golf and was very very good.
-
We need a golf course. He built one. He just
-
did it. He got someone to draw plans, he got
-
a few men, let's do it. You know, some people dream,
-
some people do. I remember it destroyed our tractor built
-
and it's there today, and it is a fine golf
-
course that he built. We needed a school when all
-
our schools were in rough condition and all kinds of
-
things going on. He built a school, a private school
-
that's still there today. So this was the man that
-
I grew up around. And I found a picture of
-
him when he was finishing college. So bring that picture
-
of my dad there is when he's finished college. It's
-
John Harrold, just trying to get you to think of
-
people that have helped you. He and my mom got
-
married shortly after this picture. Then, of course he died
-
when I had just gotten married to and I had
-
just gotten married. I sent my mom off to Bible College.
-
She's around fifty years of age. She graduates, the school
-
sends her overseas. She's a missionary for a year as
-
a dean of women. Comes back and I kept telling
-
my mom, you need to remarry. No, no, no, no,
-
you know she don't want to do that. Well, great
-
man whose wife had died. Great friends in the family.
-
There again, everybody knows everyone in the small community. And
-
Bill's youngest daughter and I were good friends. We used
-
to ride horses together. We had horses on our farm.
-
So the Lord brought Bill into mom's life. And after
-
she was a widow for four years, she married Brigadier
-
General William Hogan. So bring up picture of Bill. Now,
-
that's Bill right there, my stepdad on one of his missions.
-
I don't know where, but I found that picture and
-
I thought, well, let me bring that one in case
-
you did know too. He played football for LSU. Come on,
-
bring up the next picture. There he is when he's
-
in college. He was center for several years. When he
-
was a senior, he was quarterback for Lshoe. Yeah, so
-
we grew up. Well, of course I'm an adult then.
-
But Bill was a great man. They were married for
-
seventeen years and he was twelve thirteen years older than
-
my mom, and he passed away twelve and a half
-
years ago. Just showing you people of integrity and character
-
and quality. Great leader, great, great leader. And then I'm
-
gonna bring up another picture my great grandfather and his family. Okay,
-
this is an old picture. Bring it up there it is.
-
He died in nineteen fourteen. Okay, so this picture is old.
-
Everybody say old. Okay. This is my great grandfather right here.
-
He was a philanthropist. He just made things work. He
-
owned banks and farms and houses and I don't know
-
what'll Apparently he loved the Lord because you go around
-
our community. He built this church, he built that church.
-
He gave them my for this over here. That's what
-
he did. Now, this is my great grandmother, Ellen Gray Harold.
-
I'm Mark Gray Harrold. You just heard Andrew Gray Harrol
-
and Declan Gray is running around here somewhere. So just
-
showing ongoing. This is my grandfather's a little boy. This
-
is his older sister. There's a big age difference. That's
-
because five children died between them, not just in infancy,
-
but at age ten twelve. All the diseases way back then,
-
it took place. Now, the great man that he was. Unfortunately,
-
my grandfather became an alcoholic at an early age when
-
the depression hit and he lost all the stuff that
-
he had worked so hard to accumulate. So I'm so
-
grateful when my day grew up he broke that curse.
-
He broke that because he wanted to create something of
-
legacy and kind of picked up the mantle that my
-
great grandfather had. Now are you ready for his name?
-
His name was Leonidas. It is Greek, and Jonathan my
-
middle son. I mean, he's a family buff. They're getting
-
ready to have their first child. Guess what his name
-
is going to be Leonidas and they're gonna call him
-
leon So someone who died over one hundred years ago,
-
legacy is continuing. Men, What are you creating? What are
-
you doing? When my great grandfather moved to Louisiana, it
-
was four brothers from Harrowsville, North Carolina. You can go
-
to Harrowsville, North Carolina. They're a very small community of men.
-
I guess the family big old colonial home is still there.
-
I don't know. It was in pretty shabby shape the
-
last time we were there. But my great grandfather came
-
south and he began doing all that he did legacy
-
legacy so many others. Men in the church who committed
-
themselves to the vision, men who lead their family, men
-
who have stayed devoted, men who could trust the Lord,
-
not just their feelings, even if others were failing them
-
in their lives, or family members were failing them or whatever.
-
They stayed committed as a man, as a husband, as
-
a dead someone who could stay steady in a moment
-
of testing our trial, that when others maybe couldn't do
-
it or wouldn't do it, you decided I'm going to
-
do the right thing. May we be men who do
-
right even others don't. John twenty, verse twenty nine. And
-
then we're going to look at our theme someone we're
-
going to study just briefly in the scripture. But John
-
twenty twenty nine, I want you to see this. And
-
this is after his resurrection, and Thomas was doubting the
-
whole appearance of the Lord, and Jesus appeared to him.
-
Then Jesus told him, Thomas, because you've seen me, you
-
have believe. And that's one thing that's great. You've heard
-
the frame. If I see it, I'll believe it. That's
-
kind of where this guy was at the moment. But
-
look at this. The rest of the verse blessed her
-
those who have not seen and what you believe yet
-
have believed. So God wants to raise up men, women,
-
dad's fathers that are willing to be devoted even before
-
even before they see the outcome, willing to have faith,
-
even before they see the result of that faith. Oh
-
it's quiet in here today. Come on, ma'am. Anybody can
-
believe when they see. But the Bible says there's a
-
blessing that comes on a person that can actually make
-
the right step before they see the outcome, right, the
-
right decision, staying committed, staying devoted, staying loyal. So let's
-
look at a man in scripture. Turn to Matthew chapter one.
-
We're gonna look through a window of his life because
-
he's not talked about a lot throughout the scripture. We
-
don't know a lot about Joseph. And I'm not talking
-
about the Old Testament Joseph. I'm talking about Joseph the Guardian,
-
the earthly dead of Jesus. Joseph. Can I say, the
-
foster dead of Jesus, And you don't hear much about him?
-
He gets a cameo appearance at Christmas time. You don't
-
think of all the bathroodramas and so forth. Here comes
-
Joseph and do you have any room at the end? No, bam,
-
off to the manger, they go. That's about all you
-
really see or here. But let's look at a few scriptures,
-
and I hope men especially let this rivet you something
-
you can talk about. Think about in regards to your legacy,
-
not just your biological family, but your spiritual family people
-
you know, your community and so forth. Think all that
-
Joseph was up against. Just think about it. Can you
-
imagine the task of being the dead of Jesus? How
-
do you direct or correct something that's perfect? I mean,
-
come on, put yourself in that place. So think with
-
me the task God gave Joseph in the legacy God
-
gave him through his adopted son that he was responsible
-
to raise Jesus Matthew Chapter one, beginning verse eighteen. This
-
is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. His
-
mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but
-
before they came together, she was found to be with
-
child through the Holy Spirit. Now would you stop and
-
think about that conversation for a few moments. Please, Joseph,
-
I have something to tell you. I'm pregnant. Who's the dead?
-
The Holy Spirit? I haven't met the Holy Spirit? Think,
-
come on, think with me for a minute. He is
-
aware of this news pre dream. Okay, hadn't had the
-
dream yet. He's aware of this pre dream verse nineteen.
-
Because Joseph, her husband, You said, well, wait, I thought
-
they were engaged. Well, back then, when you got engaged,
-
you had to go through divorce or a form of
-
divorce to break up an engagement, So engagement was legally
-
binding at that time. Are you with me? Because Joseph,
-
her husband was a righteous man. Everybody say righteous man,
-
and he did not want to expose her to public disgrace.
-
He had in mind to divorce her quietly. He's going
-
to do this quietly, in an honorable way, when he
-
felt Mary had been unhonorable to him. He's just doing
-
the thing that you would do, except he's doing it honorably,
-
and he's trying to still protect Mary. Thank man, think
-
of qualities here. But after he had considered this, that's important.
-
But after he had considered this, that's probably one of
-
the most important raises as it relates to Joseph, because
-
he's thinking, he's contemplating, trying to figure this out, trying
-
to understand what's going on, trying to do it in
-
an honorable way, not try not to make Mary become
-
a disgrace in the community. An angel of the Lord
-
appeared to him in a dream. Now just stop for
-
a minute. I've had a lot of dreams, and I've
-
had some spiritual dreams as well. All of us probably have.
-
But still it's a dream. It's not an appearance. It's
-
a dream. Okay, there is a difference. But after he
-
considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him
-
in a dream and said, Joseph, son of David, do
-
not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife,
-
because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
-
She will give birth to a son. And you, Joseph,
-
you have the responsibility. You're to give him the name
-
what's his name? Because he will save his people from
-
their sins. Of course, they were looking for a a
-
side that would be a political redeemer and deliver them
-
from the Romans. But right here, even the angels saying
-
he's going to deliver people from their sins verse twenty two.
-
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had
-
said through the prophet, the Virgin will be with child
-
and will give birth to a son, and they will
-
call him Emmanuel, which means God with us. When Joseph
-
woke up, he did what the Angel of the Lord
-
had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. Wow,
-
next verse very important. But he had no union with
-
her until she gave birth to a son, and he
-
Joseph gave him the name what Jesus. So here we are,
-
two thousand plus years later, singing songs about Jesus, rejoicing
-
in our spiritual heritage because of Jesus, because a man
-
named Joseph created legacy. And you don't hear much about Joseph.
-
Think about what Joseph was up against. Think about the pressure,
-
the shame, the accusation. And let's think about our time today, everybody.
-
I've never seen a time such as now where people, families,
-
men are under such pressure. Many of you. The pressure
-
is robbing you of sleep at night. You have anxiety,
-
pay the bi raise the kids, answer to the boss,
-
deal with the situations, fix the problems, fix the broken
-
stuff around the house. Everybody say stuff that pressure on
-
you of trying to figure out life and land it.
-
Think of the pressure on Joseph when all this went
-
down and he has to take a whole new direction.
-
I'm sure he had a nice condominium picked out somewhere
-
that they were going to live. I mean, he had
-
all these plans and now it's chaos. Come on, chaos,
-
And with all those pressures, Joseph did the right thing,
-
even before he had a full revelation. Come on, ma'am.
-
Of course, you've got to know the word to know
-
what the right thing is. You've got to know the
-
heart of God. You've got as Andrew was talking about
-
listening to the Holy Spirit. You've got to know that
-
to know what the right thing is. Joseph was a
-
man who did the right thing, and because he did,
-
he got the revelation from God. Because he was going
-
to do the right thing, and because he got a
-
revelation of God's plan and of being committed and devoted,
-
God gave him a legacy that speaks today, delivering men
-
and women of their sins no matter what country we're from,
-
aren't you glad we celebrate the nations of the world
-
got people out all over and we have guest missionaries
-
in today. It's awesome and I believe that is the
-
heartbeat of every person here. It's not in your notes,
-
but write it down. God wants your life to outlast
-
your few moments here on earth. Got to thinking about
-
that earlier, and I wrote it down. God wants your
-
life to outlast your few moments here on earth. So
-
let me just quickly give you four things we can
-
see from the life of Joseph as we just take
-
a glimpse through this window that can help us create legacy,
-
fine legacy, or expand the legacy that we're already working on.
-
Number One, Joseph was a man of marrows, but he
-
was also a man of mercy. Okay, can you see
-
that what we've just read? It's a great combination. I
-
love combinations. Anybody go to dairy Queen occasionally? I like
-
a strawberry cheese quake blizzard. Do I hear an amen
-
in the house? Combination? I love a combination peanut butter
-
and no, not chocolate. Jeanet. Gosh, she's got one track mine,
-
don't she. Peanut butter and jelly. Yes, I like my
-
pizza with pepperoni and Canadian bacon combination and cheese. Of course,
-
I like a combination of things going on all at once. Now, look,
-
this is an amazing combination for Joseph, Marls and mercy.
-
You say why because most people have a tendency to
-
dominate on one or the other. Come on, men, thank
-
God for Marls. Please, but listen, if you are just
-
totally driven by Marls, which we need, I mean, it
-
doesn't move. But if you just dominate that and just
-
communicate that, you can create an atmosphere where God's forgiveness
-
can't flow. Yes, yes, see, because the Holy Spirit is
-
going to want to minister mercy and compassion. The lady
-
caught an adultery. She should have been killed, but Jesus
-
had mercy. He wasn't condoning sin. He was trying to
-
bring an answer so that there could be a change
-
in her situation. Are you with me? You know? And
-
we have to be very careful because remember last week Galatians,
-
we talked about the evil eye. We can cast that
-
evil eye of judgment on someone if their morals aren't
-
just like ours. How we're going to reach someone unless
-
they feel the love coming from your heart you're not
-
condoning sin, you're bringing Jesus to them. Then there's a
-
person who's all mercy, mercy, mercy. But if they don't
-
have marls. Now listen to me, please, If you are
-
overly mercy, if you're if you've got that degree, when
-
someone else doesn't do that like you do, you can
-
be offended at someone who doesn't flow like you. Because
-
I've seen mercy people be offended a bunch. Are you
-
hearing me? Okay, no matter where it is, what what area? Oh,
-
there's so much mercy. When this one doesn't do it
-
just like them, well, they end up mad at them. Yeah,
-
the n a ditch. They just end up in a ditch.
-
Joseph had morals, but he had mercy. He knew what
-
was right, he knew what was pleasing to God. But
-
in the middle of wanting to please God and still
-
honor Mary and do this right, he had a wonderful
-
merciful spirit. After he had the dream, God give us
-
dads fathers. Spiritual fathers will have strong morals. But with
-
strong moral moral excuse me, strong mercy mercy as it
-
relates to people, especially people walking through tough stuff, it
-
would be nice if the only people in your life
-
were exactly like you, then you could just stand around
-
with them and be right. But the people around you,
-
even family, maybe especially family, they're not like you. And
-
everybody says number two. Something else we can see about Joseph.
-
Joseph was logical, but he believed in the supernatural. Come on,
-
don't quit believing in the supernatural. God has not lost
-
his recipe for miracle. Church. Even this Saturday, our Encounter service,
-
We're just going to pray and pray in the spirit
-
and believe God from all of his presence to invade
-
all of our lives. He still has a miracle for
-
your life, a miracle for your home, your marriage, a
-
miracle for your children. If you will step up and
-
believe old pastor, let's be logical. Let's get a logical
-
plan and figure it all out with good old common sense.
-
Thank God for common sense. And I think you need
-
to get a plan. You need plans in your life.
-
But please make room for God to mix it all
-
up and just come in with a miracle and do
-
something of that nature. This is an area my father
-
had to grow in because of just the way he
-
was wired. He was a self made man, if he
-
touched it, it worked. If he touched it, it just
-
would prosper in Doo. I mean, people in the community
-
come to him. He help them with their budgets in life.
-
And so he had a tendency to lean on that.
-
So as he grew in the Lord and my mom
-
and praying for miracles and things happening in the family
-
and all this type of stuff, he had to grow
-
and develop that side. And he did. I said he did.
-
He chose to men, don't forget we serve a supernatural God,
-
the supernatural power of God, Almighty God can do anything. Amen.
-
And he wants to Number three. Third thing about Joseph life.
-
That helps to remind myself and hopefully you about legacy.
-
He was a great thinker, but he was a great dreamer.
-
All these are very similar. Just trying to write down
-
different thoughts that I can see from those few passages
-
in Matthew. He was a thinker and he was a dreamer. Men,
-
we have to think through things, and please think, use
-
your brain. Think, get up and think that's a good thing.
-
Don't be passive aggressive, don't do that. How about this Manja,
-
just calm down, you just calm down. Think, but also dream.
-
Joseph did not react think about it. He did not react.
-
When he gets the news from Mary, he starts devising
-
a plan that would be honorable and just and rework
-
his life. He wanted to do, not disgrace Mary. He
-
thought it through, but he received a dream. He made
-
way for a dream. He made way for something bigger
-
than what he was thinking about. And God can give
-
us all that. God helped me to just dream your
-
dreams from my family in life, and greater yet, for legacy,
-
things that live on beyond us. Lord, help me to
-
be sensitive to your dream. And please remember a dream
-
is never just for you, It's for all those who
-
follow Amen. Number four last thing is a reminder I
-
see from the life of Joseph all very similar. Joseph
-
could refrain and do right, but he was also a
-
man of revelation because he had a revelation through the
-
Angel for our plan and this son is going to
-
save people from sins. Can you imagine just trying to
-
figure all that out, folks, Come on, we read the
-
end of the book. It's just right there being written.
-
They're trying to understand what's going on. So he was
-
able to refrain himself. But he was a man of
-
revelation and continuing revelation about this son that he's raising.
-
Because he had a revelation, he could refrain himself, and
-
he kept himself refrained from Mari until after she had
-
the baby. He saw listen, and he was handpicked to
-
be the earthly dad of our Savior, the earthly dead
-
of the Son of God. Wow, how special is that
-
God saw stuff in him? And I believe every man
-
in here, God sees stuff in you that you don't see.
-
Right now, don't let the devil beat you up and
-
limit you and cause you to be defeated in the stop.
-
God sees stuff in you, just like he saw in Joseph,
-
and I want you to take him off. Just think
-
about some men. Think about men who have impacted you.
-
Whether it's a family member, a teacher, a coach, a neighbor,
-
a relative. Just think from it. Ladies should do that
-
as well. Think about men who have impacted your life.
-
You need to if there's still a little you need
-
to thank them. If they've gone on to glory, you
-
need to thank God for them and what they've taught you.
-
I'm thinking of a man the precious man that could
-
have been my father as well. And I've mentioned him before.
-
Roosevelt Norris down in Louisiana, one of the most godly,
-
quiet men of character you could ever meet. He worked
-
for my grandfather. My grandfather that was an alcoholic, so
-
he dealt with all that. Now he had his other job,
-
but my grandfather did have rental properties and so forth,
-
and he would manage that and take care of that.
-
And then after my grandfather had died, he worked for
-
my dad when my dad still had all that property
-
and so forth. Worked for my dad after my dad died,
-
And I'm still now minister and all that type of stuff.
-
On my day off, I'd go up to the farm
-
and the property, trying to manage your property. Then mister
-
Roosevelt worked for me. So I'm the third one in
-
line that he's working for. Then. An elderly man, just
-
strong as an ox and godly, godly to the core.
-
He and his wife. He just lived it. He just
-
lived it. One time he had taken the chainsaw home
-
to do something with it, and he left it in
-
the back of his truck and someone stole it out
-
of his truck, and he came to me immediately to
-
tell me. He said, now I'm going to replace it.
-
I said, no, you're not. You're not going to replace that.
-
And I said, he said, you know what, I'm going
-
to pray and God's going to show me who has it. Yeah,
-
and he did, and he went right to a certain
-
house and up under the porch, under the steps, and
-
there it was, and he grabbed it and took it.
-
I mean, that's that's the type of man that he was,
-
and the respect this man would work in. Now, growing up,
-
I'm my little boy, called me Mark, and so forth.
-
After college, as soon as I made the declaration I'm
-
going to Bible College, I'm going to be a minister.
-
The moment I said that, and he found out about it.
-
The next time he saw me, it was no longer Mark.
-
He called me reverend. I said, mister Roosevelt, you don't
-
need to call me that. He said, yes, sir. I
-
don't know how to describe this man to you. We
-
were working hard. One time, we had removed the stump.
-
I know, I'm skinny as can be, but I can
-
work hard. Okay. He is a big, old, just muscle guy,
-
and I mean he picked up this stump put it
-
in the back of the truck, and it was hot,
-
and we sat on the tailgate and I said, mister Roosevelt,
-
won't it be good when we get to heaven and
-
we won't have all this work? And he took his
-
cap off and he looked at me. He says, Reverend,
-
I believe they're going to be so few of us.
-
We's all going to be working overtime. I wrote it
-
down so I wouldn't forget it. It was just, oh, listen, then.
-
I believe God responds to us when we respond to
-
him in obedience and truth and faith. Even before the
-
dream comes about, I watched mister Rooseveld have to bury
-
a child and do it with such dignity one of
-
his teenagers who died. Oh, I'm serve God, life's going
-
to be perfect. It's not, folks. And if someone tells
-
you that they're lying to you, now it's the thief
-
that comes to steal. Jesus comes to give us life,
-
and he'll give you life even through something hard. Are
-
you with me? Okay? Now? I believe God is pleased
-
when you and I make good decisions and we stay
-
devoted and dedicated to doing the right thing, even before
-
we receive the outcome of a dream. Joseph did not
-
live to see the fulfillment of Jesus paying for the
-
sins of the world world. We don't know what point
-
he died, but when Jesus is dying on the cross,
-
he looked at John and said, behold you. You know
-
my mother is now your mother, and so forth they
-
did that exchange. He wanted to make sure that his
-
mother was taken care of. Obviously, Joseph was deceased. God
-
help us to be dedicated and devoted even before we
-
see the full outcome. You know, I started talking about
-
my dad, and like I said, if he touched it,
-
it worked. I mean, it's just what he did, all
-
the different things, from developing subdivisions to this, that and
-
the other. I don't know. He just he had a
-
knack and making something work. He had plans that we,
-
he and I were going to do together when I
-
finished college in architecture. I meant he had bought a
-
lot of property. I said, a lot of property, and
-
we were going to develop this property and we were
-
going to build houses. I'll tell you, he bought a
-
lot of property. I'm in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds
-
of acres that we were going to develop, and we
-
put down the water lines. We did all this stuff.
-
So when I have this call now that I know
-
I have to follow in Bible College and so forth,
-
I had to break that news to my dad, the thinker, Hello,
-
and so I put some tension there. Jenne said, yep,
-
he didn't fully embrace that at that moment. He was
-
excited about it because he could see what God was doing,
-
but didn't fully embrace it. But we still loved each
-
other deeply. Of course, in after Bible College and Jeanette
-
and I got married and the doors opened for ministry,
-
you would have thought it was his idea all along.
-
Isn't that right? Because you know, he could see what
-
God was doing and he was excited. So he got
-
to witness one year of our lives in ministry before
-
he died. Now, man, listen to me. He left everything
-
in order. Are you hearing me? I said, he left
-
everything in arder when he knew was sick. He already
-
had it in order. But I was to be the
-
executor of his will. And that was hard doing all that,
-
but just meeting. But I meant I had from boom.
-
I mean, I just need to follow each each thing
-
to make this work so Mom was secure and could
-
keep going on in life and not have to liquidate everything.
-
Everything was in arder, everything thought through, everything in place. Everything.
-
When I go back to my little town, and I
-
will at some point this summer to check on my
-
mom and help her with a few projects around her house,
-
like we want to do even for our widows, I
-
feel the responsibility to go do that. My brothers they're helping.
-
But I will always do this because my little town
-
is Maybury RFD. I'm serious. So I will go downtown
-
park on one end of the street, and I'm gonna
-
go jogging because it's just a good prayer time, beautiful
-
little town. It's a little historic town, old homes on
-
a lake, gorgeous where I grew up, a lot of
-
architecture and so forth. I will jog. I haven't lived
-
there in thirty four years? Are you here? And I
-
will have people stopping waving Haymark, Hey Mark, And inevitably
-
somewhere on the route, I will be stopped and somebody's
-
going to tell me a story about my dad and
-
something he did for them and something he taught them
-
in some way, he helped them, something he gave them,
-
or my stepdad as well, something he did because legacy
-
is to live on. Now. Man, we can be selfish
-
and self centered and just I'm gonna do this and
-
I'm gonna have my way and I'm gonna live contrary
-
to the word of God and you'll be miserable, or
-
can say, Lord, I surrender it all create a legacy
-
through me. Can we stand? Thank you for listening. We
-
hope that you enjoy today's episode. Don't forget to share
