  6. inspires you to honor God and make disciples in your community.

  7. Today we're gonna talk about peace. We're gonna talk about

  8. number one, what's real peace? Is it really momentary pasts

  9. of the worries? And second, where do we get through peace?

  10. And third can we get a hold of it long

  11. term or is it really a day or two that

  12. we get that piece. So today we're withinuing our four

  13. part series or a four week series entitled Promise Fulfilled,

  14. and we are at our third week. We're discussing the

  15. songs of Christmas, and today we're going to talk about

  16. the song entitled Gloria. And that's the song Gloria and

  17. it's found in Luke chapter two, verse eight to fourteen.

  18. We start with verse eight and it says there and

  19. in the same region, there were shepherds out in the

  20. field keeping watch over their flock by night and an

  21. angel of the Lord appeared to them. In the glory

  22. of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled

  23. with great fear. And verse ten, and the Angel said

  24. to them, fear not, for behold, I bring you good

  25. news of great joy that will be for all people.

  26. For unto you is born this day in the city

  27. of David, a savior who is Christ the Lord. And

  28. in verse twelve, and this will be a sign for you. You'll

  29. find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

  30. And suddenly there was a and there was with the

  31. angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying

  32. glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace

  33. among those with whom He is pleased. So what's the

  34. story behind it. There were shepherds tending their sheep at night,

  35. and all of a sudden the angel appeared and said,

  36. fear not, Okaya, Angel Madel Because angels in the Bible

  37. are not babies. They're huge warriors. And it was a

  38. bright light that shone in front of them. That's why

  39. the angel said, fear not, for I have brought you

  40. good news. Parandosian good news, anion that God was to

  41. be born, that the Savior, the Redeemer, and bid us

  42. a story paratigna, he will be born. How do we

  43. know that you will see a manger and the babies

  44. they're wrapped in swaddling cloth, and in swaddling cloth. These

  45. are rettazontela, and you would see him in a manger.

  46. What's a manger? Animals? Jesus was painting a picture that

  47. yes he is Lord of all, that he is the

  48. king of all kings, but he wants to go to

  49. Earth show his show himself as humble as he can,

  50. a humble estate. Sabinilla, the creator now goes inside this creation.

  51. Jesus was being birthed in good news, in good news

  52. in the Vineginna angel so the shepherd Sabila and Ala taot.

  53. And what happened next? The angels began to sing the

  54. word multitude arap is a representation of a thousand angels

  55. Aelona glinas heavens opening heavens. You would see them and

  56. they were ready to sing. And this was their one

  57. life song. Glory to God in the highest Is it

  58. a familiar phrase for us? Actually in Latin, that's where

  59. we get the title of the song. Gloria and its

  60. full context or full title in the Latin verse, which

  61. was popularized in the third and fourth century. I know

  62. you know this song Gloria in Excelsis dao. This is

  63. the meaning yentleg glory to God in the Highest. The

  64. angels began to worship. The angels began to sing Sabella.

  65. The glory of God is present in heaven. This is

  66. the glory of God and the good news that the

  67. birth of God was actually coming to earth, meaning the

  68. glory of God in the Highest is now coming to us.

  69. We can experience Heaven on earth. We can experience his

  70. glory and experience his faithfulness. We can experience his power

  71. as he comes to us on earth. What else does

  72. God bring and pends in have any angel the good news?

  73. Not only does the glory of God come to us

  74. on earth. He was saying, the presence of God brings peace.

  75. Can you tell that person beside you? God brings peace? Peace? Peace?

  76. You know peace in the Bible, It's been there since

  77. the beginning. In Genesis, you would see man at peace

  78. with nature, peace with animals. He was at peace in

  79. the garden of Eden, and God was at peace with mankind. Unfortunately,

  80. what entered sin. As soon as Sin entered what happened.

  81. Peace was distorted, Peace was lost. That's why you would

  82. hear about stories in the Bible where a brother would

  83. kill a brother, nations would conquer nations. You would heal

  84. people oppressed, freeing by God, and then once again being

  85. oppressed by another group of people. This is the theme

  86. of the Bible. Lagishang Mehrong war and they will be

  87. at peace and then once again man. That's why during

  88. this time there was a treaty by the Roman Empire

  89. called Pax Romana. What does that mean? Roman peace? But

  90. that peace wasn't enough for the people of God, Sabinila.

  91. The absence of war doesn't mean we are at peace

  92. it ourselves. Why because peace is not always the absence

  93. of war. And when we talk about peace. This is

  94. the world today. They define peace differently, Sabinilla. How do

  95. you define peace? How do you get peace when you

  96. google it? Sabinilla. Just do the steps. There's a formula

  97. to get peace. Get away from stress full situations. So

  98. if you work for an environment that's stressful, Sabina, what

  99. do you do, Magrissa Gado, is that the solution for

  100. peace the world would teach us that to get peace.

  101. Sometimes we need to spend money. You want to feel safe,

  102. buy a good card, you'll have peace of mind peace.

  103. The world teaches us that peace comes in buying something

  104. or doing the steps? Is that real peace? Look in

  105. the Manu wellampamillion on something for peace of mind? Look

  106. in the Manu sobram pc. Is that the peace that

  107. God wants for us? When he was born on earth,

  108. he brought peace? But what is that piece that the

  109. Bible is talking about? And I want to share with

  110. you the word peace? Oh sorry before that. Peace does

  111. not mean to be in a place where there is

  112. no noise, trouble or stress. It means to be in

  113. the midst of those things and still be calm in heart.

  114. Get in peace regardless of your situation. You may be

  115. in a situation that's not okay, but you can have peace.

  116. God can give you that peace because if you're that

  117. person who doesn't want a stressful situation, you can't exist

  118. in a situation that there is trouble or noise even

  119. Peaceion rest in Peaceion who wants to rest in peace? Today?

  120. We ladi bah. God talks about a different kind of

  121. peace in the Old Testament and the word used in

  122. the Old Testament for peace is shalom. Say that with

  123. me shalom shalom. How about the shalom that is cold,

  124. shalom pass? Say that shalom pass. Okay, So despite the

  125. last full show, shalom pass, sorry shalom. The word shalom

  126. in Greek, it's called a raine, and say that with

  127. me a raine, the Greek word for peace or shalom.

  128. This was what the angel was talking about. So what

  129. does it mean? Sabina shalom is the absence of war,

  130. but not just that. It was the presence of something better.

  131. Who wants to know what kind of peace that is?

  132. If it's an object, this is a picture of peace

  133. of shalom, it's a break picture. One brick sabin la

  134. shalom is strong. It can be put on by other bricks.

  135. When combined, it's a fortress. It's a it's a gait

  136. that can keep you protected. What if that gait, that

  137. strong rock is destroyed anemonere it's broken down right. The

  138. Hebrew word also for restore is also shalom. Shalom means peace, strong, wholeness.

  139. Now it also means to restore, but ti nima Tayo

  140. Gavin Dima Ta Battle. So if there's an illustration that

  141. I want to share with you of what Shalom is,

  142. it's this. Who's this? NA gets to know? Five thirty

  143. see bass Bass. This is mister Potato head. I remember

  144. my cousin would always play with this. This was her

  145. favorite toy, and when I visit, I would play with

  146. her and I would make sure that the parts are wrongs.

  147. A been a that's wrong. And I remember shah favorite

  148. young game, any toy that stairs to infinity and beyond.

  149. So yeah, gives mister Potato sempre mister Potato halas. I

  150. believe the design of mister Potato is really like that.

  151. It easily takes out because it's for kids, so you

  152. can put it wherever you want. This is the design

  153. of mister Potato, and the picture of Shalom is mister

  154. Potato combined together. Shalom is complete, whole, at peace, restored.

  155. Once it breaks down, once a piece falls apart, just

  156. like us, when we go through life and we give

  157. up something, we fall apart. We need to be restored.

  158. Shalom is the super glue, the mighty band that brings

  159. mister Potato together. That's a picture of shalom, the peace

  160. that the angel was talking about. That was the picture

  161. of the coming of Christ when he arrived here. Unfortunately,

  162. in them in details, mister Potato, we have more moving parts.

  163. He has twelve. We have thirteen, Marame. We have a

  164. lot at stake relationships that we have. What else our health,

  165. our finances, the friends, the career that we have, and

  166. once one of these falls down, we feel we are

  167. not at peace anymore. So what shalom? I'm going to

  168. give you a best picture that I can, because when

  169. I was studying this word, I even asked for Pastor

  170. Dennis for a copy of a word study that he

  171. did Negula in just one word. It was twenty slides

  172. of a word study of what peace means, or what

  173. shalom means. And this is what it means. Shalom means

  174. being complete, it's being whole, it's good health. Shalom also

  175. means peace, which is our topic today. What else Shalom

  176. means well? Fair, safety, soundness, safety and soundness is us

  177. sleeping well at night we know that the doors are locked.

  178. It also means tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness also means rest,

  179. when we say shalom, when we say I want shalom,

  180. God also gives us rest harmony, the absence of agitation

  181. or discord. It's being complete, perfect and full. If that's

  182. the definition of what the angel was saying, that God

  183. brings peace, how many of us want shalom in our

  184. lives that regardless of what's happening outside, you can be complete.

  185. Regardless of what's happening at outside, you can be whole.

  186. You may lose your job tomorrow, but you can still declare, Lord,

  187. thank you, but I'm healthy. Thank you, Lord God, that

  188. I'm prosperous. Thank you, Lord God, that you are restoring

  189. me into fullness. Lord, You're taking out the agitations in

  190. my life. And this is a picture of the coming

  191. of Jesus. He was bringing peace or shalom. And this

  192. is what Isaiah was waiting for. In Isaiah nine, verse six,

  193. it says here he prophesied that there will be someone

  194. who will be born to us, to be given to us.

  195. He will be called what wonderful counselor Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

  196. and Prince of Peace. The Prince of Peace was now born.

  197. Prince of Shalom has arrived. The prince that will restore

  198. what is broken in us, the prince that will make

  199. sure that we are full again, the prince that will

  200. make sure that we are prosperous, we are healthy. And

  201. you know what he brings not only peace. He brings

  202. peace with no end. That's why what I was talking

  203. a while ago, that's not peace, peace or stress in life.

  204. Setting aside and having that peace. That's not peace. That's

  205. ignoring reality. But this is the peace that God wants

  206. for all of us. It's the peace that has no end. Shalom.

  207. Tell that person beside you shalem. So as we continue,

  208. I'm going to share with you three types of peace

  209. that God brought, the three shaloms that God brought when

  210. he was born, that the glory of God when he arrived.

  211. This is what he offered us. First, God gives peace

  212. within man. Can you raise your right hand, put it

  213. in your heart and say, Lord, thank you for that

  214. peace within me. You know, God brings peace within us,

  215. it says in John fourteen. And this was Jesus say

  216. saying peace, I live with you. My peace I give

  217. to you, and we receive it. It's Jesus giving that peace,

  218. not as the world gives, Do I give it? And

  219. let not your heart be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

  220. How many of us have been living a life being

  221. afraid of tomorrow, being troubled of the smallest things. What

  222. we plan for dening yaah, we get to be in trouble,

  223. what we've been hoping for, dening yiareh, we get to

  224. be afraid. But I believe God is reminding us. Jesus

  225. is reminding us that He's giving us peace today. Not

  226. only peace that when we receive it we can move forward.

  227. It's actually peace from the past as well, peace from condemnation,

  228. peace from the lives of the enemy. Peace he's from

  229. sin This is what peace that God brings to us.

  230. In to share a story, a true story, in fifteen

  231. fifty five, there was this bishop named Nicholas Ridley, and

  232. he was actually born, not born, burned, burn at the

  233. stake Sinow in a push and why why because of

  234. what he believed in. He was a follower of Christ.

  235. The day before his execution, before he was burned in

  236. the steak, his brother, of course loves him so much,

  237. actually offered to stay with him. Sabina, bro, I think

  238. I'll be here I'll stay with you, open to a

  239. tile about your childhood, if you want to eat whatever,

  240. but I'll just I'll be with you the whole time.

  241. If you were Nicholas, what would you be feeling if

  242. tomorrow you'll be burned he is how in Kannah the

  243. next day? What would you feel? I think what the

  244. brother would offer would actually be a nice gestured about Anna.

  245. But you know what he said. He said, it's okay.

  246. He declined the offer. Sabina, I want to sleep, and

  247. I want to sleep soundly like a baby. Why because

  248. I know my God has given me peace. I can

  249. be at peace. That what I believe. In Orelan, they

  250. take my life. He was at peace with his creator.

  251. He was at peace within himself despite the situation that

  252. he was in. That's why in twenty nine eleven it

  253. says the Lord will give strength to his people. The

  254. Lord will bless his people with peace. Some of us

  255. we deny ourselves from inner peace. Why because we like

  256. to magnify the worries a warrior. I'm the smallest thing.

  257. You get to magnify it, and you feel that there

  258. is no peace. Peace is upon us, and God wants

  259. to give us peace. Peace within all of us. The

  260. second one that he gives is peace among men. Peace

  261. among men, it says in our main text in the song,

  262. it says, Lord to God in dies and on earth,

  263. peace among those who are those among us, His people

  264. among us. And this is another piece that he gives us.

  265. How I want to share with you this story. This

  266. is a picture of a white labrador. How many of

  267. you have experienced playing with a labrador, owning a labrador?

  268. Talking to a labrador? A labrador by nature, it's playful,

  269. sabinila young labradoranaka labrador, that's its nature Masa. It would

  270. wag it steale you know, lats an your friends. But

  271. for some reason, this labrador owned by a family was

  272. like this agitated galt remember ba galt sa mundo. The

  273. labrador was so angry. The kids who played with the

  274. labrador Indians galip so iron. So the parents were uh

  275. and worried. So they've been looking for help, to maxilla

  276. and veldto injection, and they've been looking for a solution.

  277. The dog was agitated palang galitna the lit day in dog.

  278. You know what happened? They found this uh sabi the vet.

  279. The dog whispered so he went in home service for

  280. Munta and he watched the dog. You're not the dog,

  281. and just saying you watched the dog, watched the dog

  282. was staring him down. Call Gallet. For the next three hours,

  283. sab dog Galatian dog. Really angry, Sabina, this is not

  284. the nature of this dog. Hunga sabin for hourly in

  285. churchto sabins, and all of a sudden the dog was fired.

  286. So you dog, Mahinana. And then he noticed young dog

  287. and when it would put its left paw over its

  288. right paw, magand ha ha as a Satan got his

  289. twis source approached the dog carefully nimas him as paguna,

  290. sagai let sabundo, and then it took away that torn

  291. fortunately on pocus in a laboradora something in between Suma

  292. be she mister her potato hitala Sunan. Donn what happened

  293. to the dog. I was so happy. It was so

  294. reallyd swagging its tail all over, playing lacking everyone, eating

  295. the trash. It was doing what he was doing for

  296. the past few years in his life. So happy. The

  297. dog was back to Norman. You would see he had

  298. that piece, was playing with everybody shoulder shalom. What happened?

  299. Why am I sharing it? The story of the dog

  300. the labrador? This is what happened after that? What happened

  301. to the dog got relieved? Why am I sharing this story?

  302. You know why? Because just like the labrador, some of

  303. us were like that. Some of us been angry at

  304. the world. Oh I remember my time was angry at life.

  305. Some of us we've been angry l la pit and

  306. palantyo bro being I was a salad and victory grouping. Okay,

  307. let galled someone do. And I remember how I was

  308. invited to a victory group and I was angry. So

  309. I got to Toba to Sin Sabin too. You knowed

  310. I was that guy with that torn But you know,

  311. after a few years, I approached my victory group leader

  312. and asked him, Bro, why were you patient with me?

  313. Why didn't you give up? You know why? Because I

  314. knew you were going through something. Maybe, young guy, let

  315. money in. It's a picture of us. When sin is

  316. taken out, we began to see life in a different perspective. Heal,

  317. this is the piece that God brings among men. And

  318. you know what when I took out that thorn, when

  319. my victory group leader walked me through life. When he

  320. walked me through the word of God and what God

  321. has done in my life, what Jesus has done. You know,

  322. I began to forgive and I began to forgive them,

  323. and not only that, I began to ask for forgiveness.

  324. This is the piece that God brings to us, Peace

  325. within us first, what else? Peace among men. That's why

  326. I appreciate our victory group leader's why because sometimes just

  327. sometimes people are angry at them, but they are patient,

  328. They pray for you, they make sure you hear the word.

  329. And then pakah sobran close nuna chakasi la babahwe kaladatila

  330. lordship plank. This is a picture of what God brings

  331. to us. We get reconciled with others, we can release forgiveness,

  332. and we can also ask for forgiveness. This is the

  333. second piece that God brings. And the third, which I

  334. think is the most important one, that the peace of

  335. God that He has brought to us. This is he

  336. restored relationship with God. God restored us to him, says

  337. in his word and in the song. With whom he

  338. is pleased doesn't mean it means it's not for all.

  339. It means not everyone. Why Why do you think God

  340. needs to restore us to him? Because scripture says we

  341. were also enemies, enemies of God. We were also at

  342. war with God because of sin. That's why in Romans five,

  343. it's a good reminder. It says here for a while

  344. we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the

  345. death of his son. It's a picture now of the

  346. arrival of Jesus and what he would do for the

  347. next thirty three years. And it's a picture again of shalom,

  348. God restoring us to completeness, God restoring our relationship with him,

  349. God making sure that we are okay with him. Why

  350. because only if we are okay with God, that's the

  351. time we can be at peace with ourselves. Within us,

  352. that's the only time we can release forgiveness and be

  353. at peace to others. As you continue, this is Jesus

  354. saying to his disciples before he went up, he said

  355. these things. I have spoken to you that in me

  356. you may have peace. Only in God that we can

  357. have peace in the world. You will have tribulation. That's

  358. a promise we will always have that stress will always

  359. go through trials, but be of good cheer. In another

  360. in a different version, it says, take heart, I have

  361. overcome the world. God has overcome the stress that we

  362. are going through. I believe God is reminding us that

  363. He has overcome even sickness, death, even financial crisis, even

  364. that relational issue. He has overcome and that's why he

  365. can have peace today. This is the peace that God

  366. wants for all of us, a peace that we can

  367. rest in him. The question is probably for us now, Bro,

  368. I've been attending church, listening to the word of God

  369. for the past three years. Taulam peace. Why don't I

  370. feel that peace? Why can't I be at peace after

  371. I leave the church? Were reading a little after I

  372. leave the church and Jumper in a problem, why can't

  373. I find that peace? And we go back to verse

  374. eleven of our story. It says here for unto you, Yes,

  375. Jesus was born for us, and Jesus was born to

  376. save us. That's why it says unto you is born

  377. this day in the city of David. A savior saved

  378. us from our sins. But the question is what is

  379. our response when he accepted when we accepted him as

  380. our savior? What is our heart. Do we consider him

  381. as our lord? Is he the lord of our lives?

  382. Or do we consider Jesus as only our savior and

  383. not our lord? Because the Bible tells us that if

  384. we consider Him as our lord and savior, we will

  385. have that peace, that peace that we can enjoy, that

  386. peace of any situation, that you can be okay, peace

  387. within peace among people, and peace with God. That's why

  388. the Apostle Paul reminds us. Before the Apostle Paul's remind you,

  389. I forgot peace rules the day When Christ is the

  390. lord of your heart? What rules your day? Is it worries?

  391. As soon as you wake up? What's on your mind?

  392. What rules it? What dictates your action of the day?

  393. Is it problems, finances, relational issues, being hopeless? Is that

  394. what rules your day? Who wants to have peace to

  395. rule your day? It says, let's have Christ to be

  396. the lord of our hearts. Not only our hearts, but

  397. Christ as the Lord of our lives. That's why I'm

  398. encouraged when the Apostle Paul said this that if we
