  5. And now here's your message.

  6. You were listening to a message from Victory. We hope

  7. it inspires you to honor God and make disciples in

  8. your humanity.

  9. We are starting a new series today at the start

  10. of the year.

  11. The title of this series is Knowing God.

  12. And I'm not sure what you wrote in your faith goals,

  13. but the fasting Normally we have four categories that we

  14. are praying for personal, professional, family, and your ministry, and

  15. so I don't know what you wrote, but I hope

  16. that this one will make it to your list. And

  17. if if nothing happens this year, if you don't get

  18. all of that that you wrote in your faith goal,

  19. then this year will be one of your best years ever.

  20. This is going to be one of the best years

  21. of your life if you only get this one, which

  22. is to know God better. If you know God better,

  23. then your life will change one hundred eighty degree.

  24. And really complete turning points.

  25. So for the next three weeks, that's what we're going

  26. to talk about.

  27. And our prayer is that as we go through the Word, that.

  28. All of us will go deeper in our understanding of God,

  29. and it will not only result for us getting more knowledge.

  30. That's the last thing we want to happen, to put

  31. more information in.

  32. Our over you know, over informed head already.

  33. But what we want to happen is that the more

  34. we know God, the more we will trust Him, the

  35. more we will worship Him, and the more that our

  36. relationship with Him will become real. So if you have

  37. your Bible with you, we're going to read from Psal

  38. thirty four, starting in verse one, and today we're going

  39. to talk about the goodness of God, the goodness of

  40. God some thirty four, verse one, and we're going to

  41. read through eight.

  42. Verse one.

  43. It says I will bless the Lord at all times.

  44. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul

  45. makes its boast in the Lord. Let the humble hear

  46. and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and

  47. let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord,

  48. and he answered me and delivered.

  49. Me from all my fears.

  50. Those who look to him are radiant and their faces

  51. shall be ashamed.

  52. How many of you want that promise?

  53. Those who look to him will never be put to shame?

  54. And in verse seven, this poor man cried, and the

  55. Lord heard him and saved them out of all his troubles.

  56. The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear

  57. him and delivers them all. Taste and see that the

  58. Lord is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge

  59. in him.

  60. Lord, We thank you for your word.

  61. I pray that we would learn to bless you at

  62. all times. We pray that your praise will always be

  63. on our lips. And I pray Lord, that we will

  64. seek you this year and everything that we do, and

  65. like what you promise. We pray that you would deliver

  66. us from all our fears. Lord, and I pray that

  67. we will be able to taste and see that the

  68. Lord is good.

  69. Amen. Again, we're going to talk about God's goodness.

  70. And in verse eight it says, taste and see that

  71. the Lord is good.

  72. How many of you here you love to eat?

  73. Okay, you put your sporting event, you know, hobby. If

  74. you're stress, that's your way of escape. When you're victorious,

  75. when something good happens that's your way of celebration.

  76. It's part of your life. You know. Some people they

  77. eat just for the sake of eating.

  78. A workaholic, Uh, just so they will function and stay alive.

  79. But if given a choice, then they don't really look

  80. for it. So some people eat just for the sake

  81. of eating. But some people uh took it as an art.

  82. You but come on, anion grabbium pepper did young mala la.

  83. Young ingredients? Now you distinct taste? You know. My wife

  84. is like that.

  85. For me, I don't sometimes I don't know the distinction.

  86. I just eat.

  87. I don't ask how it was cool. I don't ask

  88. the ingredients they used.

  89. I just eat.

  90. Some people, what they are concerned about is their quantity, right,

  91. But lima raisiana ulam quantity. Some people are after for equality.

  92. Now verse eight says, taste and see that the Lord

  93. is good. You know, when it comes to our relationship

  94. with God, some people go to church. Some people pray

  95. and read the Bible just for the sake of fulfilling

  96. religious obligation. While some people, when it comes to God,

  97. they are very particular with the quality of relationship.

  98. They are not just.

  99. They're not just contented with going to church every week. No,

  100. they want to know that they are going deeper in

  101. their relationship with God. And that's the invitation that's being

  102. given to all of us this year, as we start

  103. a new year, God is inviting all of us to

  104. taste and see that the Lord is good.

  105. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

  106. Can you please turn to the person say the next

  107. you tell that person taste and see.

  108. That the Lord is good.

  109. God wants you to experience him personally. You know if

  110. you are if you are here today, because every Sunday

  111. your parents are dragging you here, you have no choice.

  112. Or maybe you're the husband, you have no choice because

  113. your wife is dragging you here. I hope that your

  114. faith is not just something that your parents own. I

  115. hope that this year your faith will become personal. That

  116. you are here not just because your friends are here.

  117. You are here because you have a personal relations with God.

  118. Our faith in God is rooted in what we know intellectually.

  119. This December, during the Christmas break, I was reading this

  120. book Man Myth Messiah by one of our very own pastor,

  121. Rice Brooks, And this book is about proving the reality

  122. of Jesus that he is a real historical figure, and

  123. everything he did and everything he thought are well documented

  124. and verifiable. Amazing because some people are saying he's just

  125. a product of imagination, he never really existed. How can

  126. we know if he's real? In all of that, it's

  127. amazing if you read this book, how much evidence and

  128. documents and people, not even Christians, are giving this evidence

  129. that there is really a man who walked on earth

  130. named Jesus, who lived in who was born in Bethlehem

  131. and did all these things, who died on the cross,

  132. and all of these things are verifiable.

  133. It's documented.

  134. So the question of whether Jesus did exist is not

  135. a question at all.

  136. He did exist. So that's what this book is all about.

  137. So it's just encouraging to know that our faith is

  138. something that can be proven intellectually, proven historically, geographically, biblically,

  139. we can. But our faith in God is not just

  140. rooted in what we know intellectually. It is also rooted

  141. in what we know experientially. It's not that I know

  142. indeed Basa all a sel is a Bible. But you know,

  143. the reason I'm convinced is because I just don't. It's

  144. not only intellectually, but because I experienced it. I know

  145. that God is my redeemer because not only that he

  146. saved me and cleansed me from all my sins, but

  147. he took away my shame and my guilt and gave

  148. me a fresh start. I was a college student when

  149. I surrendered my life to Jesus, and I was wondering,

  150. Lord kaya Babah, of all the things I've done and

  151. how messed up my life is, can you really give

  152. me a fresh start?

  153. And now I know God is really our redeemer.

  154. Not only he forgave me of my sins, he redeemed

  155. my life. I know that God is my deliverer because

  156. I've been in trouble so many times, yet God delivered

  157. me from them all.

  158. I know that God is my deliverer.

  159. I know that God is my provider because God has

  160. provided for me, and God has been providing for us,

  161. me and my family until today. Every time we have

  162. a need, we will pray to God, and every time.

  163. We have a need, God come through. So I know my.

  164. My faith is not something that can only be proven intellectually,

  165. but also experientially.

  166. We know that God is.

  167. Good because all of us experience the goodness of God.

  168. How many of you hear you experience the goodness of

  169. God in your life. How many of you can testify

  170. that God is good? So this is not something that

  171. we just read. It is something that we're experiencing every

  172. single day.

  173. Every day.

  174. I experience the grace of God. Every day, experience the

  175. mercy of God.

  176. Every day.

  177. I experience the goodness of God so many times. You know,

  178. I will pray in the morning and I'll just I'll

  179. just thank God.

  180. You know. My practice is that.

  181. In the morning, I will thank God for everything that

  182. happened the day before, and I would try to be

  183. as specific as possible. I'll thank God for the clothes.

  184. I'll thank God for the food. I'll thank God for

  185. the means of transportation. I'll thank God for the safety

  186. and protection of our family. I'll thank God for our pillow,

  187. our blanket, and I would thank God every single day.

  188. And I'm just a mazing God below heid, It's overwhelming.

  189. Twenty four hours is not enough for me to go

  190. through the list of the things I need to thank

  191. You for. The air I breathed, the strength in my body,

  192. the ideas, the ability, the talent, the friends, the mentors,

  193. the family, the children, the marriage, on and on and on.

  194. I have so many things I need to thank God for.

  195. How many of you are grateful to God for your life? So,

  196. and here's one more thing about God, God's goodness. God

  197. is not only the ultimate embodiment of goodness.

  198. He is also a God who is obsessed with good.

  199. You know, in Genesis, in the book of Creation, after

  200. create I think everything that he created, God looked at

  201. his creation and he said it is good. And then

  202. day two, day three, day four, day five, after creating

  203. the world, he paused and then looked at his creation

  204. and said it is good.

  205. God is obsessed with good.

  206. The only time, the first time that he said it

  207. is not good is when he saw Adam alone. How

  208. many single people do we have in this room? How

  209. many of you are encouraged today? In the good Tuma

  210. is Adam. So he formed a woman and gave it

  211. to Adam. Because not good is not good. God is

  212. obsessed with good. That's why we can know. You know,

  213. some people are saying, ad bussy, if you're like the

  214. Lenham trouble, that's there. That's another preaching for another time.

  215. But God is not only the embOS audiment of good.

  216. He's obsessed with good. That's why we can be assured

  217. that whatever He is doing in your life, it is good.

  218. Whatever He is allowing in our life, it is good.

  219. When he closes a door, it is good when he

  220. opens a door. It is good when he says yes,

  221. It is good when he says no. It is good

  222. when he says wait, it is good. Everything that God

  223. is doing in our life it is good. Tell the

  224. person said next to you, it is good, my trialka,

  225. it is good. You're believing for something this year, no major, impossibly,

  226. but you know in your heart there's a witness of

  227. the spirit KaiA nilrd do. If you are facing a mountain, tell.

  228. That person said next to you, it is good.

  229. But in my mountains Amo you know why, because once

  230. God wants to give you a mountain, moving faith or else,

  231. every time you face a mountain you will be stuck.

  232. But I'm also aware that maybe for some of us

  233. here you are here today and you're hearing God is good,

  234. but you're struggling deep inside. You want to believe that,

  235. but you can't believe it with all your heart, maybe

  236. because of something that happened to you in the past,

  237. or maybe because of something that's happening in your life

  238. right now, And maybe you're thinking, Okay, I've been hearing.

  239. This that God is good, but every time.

  240. I look at my situation, it seems like it's inconsistent

  241. with the goodness of God. It seems like there is

  242. a disconnect. It seems like it's ironic that we're saying

  243. God is good, But then why did I went through

  244. that experience.

  245. We're saying God is good, Yet when I look.

  246. At my situation, why is it that God is not

  247. doing anything about my situation? So I want to believe

  248. God good, but it seems like where I am today,

  249. what I'm going through, is inconsistent with the goodness of God.

  250. You know, one of the favorite arguments of skeptics people

  251. want to discredit God is that one of their favorite

  252. arguments is this, If God is good, if God is

  253. all good and all powerful, then why is there evil

  254. and suffering in the world. How many have you heard

  255. that argument before? If God is all good and all powerful,

  256. then why is there.

  257. Evil and suffering in the world.

  258. If He is good and wants to do something about it,

  259. but he can't do anything about it, then he is good,

  260. but he's not all powerful. If he is all powerful,

  261. he can do something about it. But he's not doing

  262. anything about it. Then he's all powerful then, but he's

  263. not good. If God is good, why is there so

  264. much evil and suffering in the world? Now, It's that

  265. sounds very logical and intimidating question. Explain you as a Christian?

  266. How do I explain? That sounds intimidating? But God is

  267. not intimidated by our questions. I came across this code

  268. that I want to show you, and I like it.

  269. It says God is able to handle our questions. The

  270. question is are we able to handle his answers. We

  271. can throw all kinds of questions to God, Lord, Why Lord?

  272. Why? Lord? Why? And I tell you God is an answer.

  273. But the question is can you handle God's answer to

  274. your question? Going back in Some thirty four as we

  275. as we look at the context of the chapter that

  276. we read, Son thirty four was written by David when

  277. he was a fugitive hiding in caves, not because of

  278. anything wrong he did. In fact, when he was serving

  279. under King Saul as one of the soldiers of King Saul.

  280. He served excellently. He was very loyal, he worked with integrity,

  281. yet instead of being rewarded for his excellent service. When

  282. his popularity started to spread, they started making writing songs

  283. about David Musa spotify in Nomatau song about David. David

  284. killed these thousands and Saul killed this hundred. So King solon,

  285. why are they giving more credit than my subordinate David,

  286. more than me the king. So King Saul became jealous

  287. of David. And since then Latna going to David guith

  288. magandha pang, it's a putting any King Saul. So he

  289. started making a plan of killing David instead of rewarding

  290. him for his good service. King Saul tried killing David.

  291. So because of that he was forced to run away.

  292. So for so for a long time he was. He

  293. went through lots of difficulties.

  294. And challenges, and he was.

  295. To the point he needed to cross the enemy territory

  296. because in his mind Atani King Saul, the problem was

  297. when he went to the enemy territory, even there he

  298. was famous. Sobs David Spotify Inmataik Goliath. So they took him,

  299. captured him and brought him to Akish. You can see

  300. that in Ps. Thirty four at the heading before verse one.

  301. It gave us the context of the som So they

  302. brought him to Akish and Sabiah, we captured David, the

  303. the this famous warrior of Israel. Now the Bible said,

  304. he changes behavior. He he pretended to be insane, so

  305. sucking up king or sab indeed, buta palasa. So why

  306. are you bringing this guy to me, sab you famous Dio.

  307. So they let him go, and that's how he was

  308. able to escape. And then he went back, got got

  309. out of the enemy territory, went back to the cave

  310. of Adelam, and that's where I believe David.

  311. Penned this song. And here's what he said.

  312. Amazing, I mean talking talk about in just this talk

  313. about evil and hardship in life. He was not doing

  314. anything wrong. He's a man after God's own heart. Yet

  315. he experienced injustice, he experienced evil, he experienced.

  316. Hardship and life.

  317. But rather than complaining, rather than turning his back from God,

  318. rather than raising his fist and said God beca lord,

  319. sying him particil because of the Lord, put not God

  320. worship and a manas church tastas Lord, my lucky Lord.

  321. You know, instead of complaining to God, instead of being

  322. bitter toward God.

  323. Here's what he said. Here's what he wrote.

  324. In verse one, he said, I will bless the Lord

  325. at all times.

  326. Wow.

  327. Good times, praise God. Bad times, praise God. Time of abundance,

  328. praise God. Time of lack, praise God. Time of health,

  329. praise God. Time of sickness, Praise God. He said, I

  330. will bless the Lord at all times? How can you

  331. do that? Sometimes? How many of you here would be

  332. honest to admit that sometimes you don't feel like praising God.

  333. You don't feel like praying to God? The will im

  334. TiO bro.

  335. How many of years sometimes you don't feel like reading

  336. the Bible?

  337. How many of years?

  338. Sometimes you don't feel like going to church. It's okay

  339. as long as you don't do it. So I will

  340. bless the Lord at all times. How can you do that?

  341. You can only do that if you believe that God

  342. is good. You can only bless the Lord at all

  343. times and praise God. If you believe that God is good,

  344. then you will see his goodness in your life and

  345. your situation maybe indeed good just it suation to my own.

  346. But I can praise God today. You know why, because

  347. I'm convinced God is good. And God will do good

  348. in my situation. If you have that confidence, even if

  349. the answer is not yet coming, you will be able

  350. to praise God. I mean, have you here, you want

  351. to be able to praise God at all times? Pero

  352. we can pray, we can praise God.

  353. Is as well. You know.

  354. I like what David said and Son twenty seven, verse

  355. thirteen to fourteen, New King James version.

  356. I like how he said it.

  357. I would have lost heart Upindan, no, gabiive up. I

  358. would have lost heart unless I had believed that I

  359. would see the goodness of the Lord in the land

  360. of the living. Wow, Inde, No, I'm convinced. I will

  361. see the goodness of the Lord in the land of

  362. the living in my lifetime. We will see the goodness

  363. of the Lord. I will see the promises of God fulfilled.

  364. That's why, but give up shindition to give up because

  365. he's convinced. So here's what he said in verse fourteen.

  366. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he

  367. shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.

  368. Just because you don't see the good yet doesn't mean

  369. there is no good in it. You know, I saw

  370. this picture one time of a cop showing two angles.

  371. One is front view, one is aerial view top. And

  372. when I saw that, I realize, every time you look

  373. at the SIXU, there's really a different, different angles perspective.

  374. And many times, you know when every many times when

  375. we look at our situation, we only see the here

  376. and now, the front view, anraqita along your present, anraquito

  377. along young current, anraquita along young.

  378. Today front view. This is a good reminder for me

  379. that there's another way to.

  380. Look at my situation, that God actually have a higher view.

  381. There is an aerial view, There is a bigger story,

  382. and there is a bigger plan and purpose for my life.

  383. That is why, you know, I know that God's purpose

  384. is not always make me happy, to make sure I'm happy. No,

  385. we don't even do that to our own children. Sometimes

  386. we allow our children to go through some difficulties because

  387. we know it's good for them. There's a bigger picture.

  388. I'm not just looking at my kids right now. I

  389. have a seven year old. I'm not just looking at

  390. her now as a seven year old. I'm considering what

  391. shall become when she's eighteen, twenty thirty, or the years

  392. to come. So what we're doing now is connected to

  393. the bigger story? Are you iman of your following? There

  394. is a bigger story. There is another way to look

  395. at our situation. First Corinthians, Chapter two, verse nine, it

  396. says no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and

  397. no mind has imagined what God is prepared for.

  398. Those who love him. Wow.

  399. I like that verse. No eye has seen, no ear

  400. has heard, and no mind has imagined. You have no

  401. idea what God wants to do in and through your life.

  402. My book has pabalrd. Can I really say the future

  403. is bright? But my projection call Lord three to five

  404. years projection malab Lord Sabina Bible. No eye has seen,

  405. no ear has heard, and no mind can imagine what

  406. God has prepared for you. That's why you can really

  407. say with conviction the future is bright.

  408. Okay.

  409. Can you encourage the person sit next to you, Tell

  410. that person the future is bright when you get to

  411. the next chapter of your life. Here's our confidence, here's

  412. our conviction. If we walk with God, if we, by

  413. the grace of God, consistently walk with God in the

  414. midst of inconsistencies in our lives, we will get to

  415. the next chapter of our life and We're going to

  416. look back and we're going to look at the tears

  417. we've sown, and we will be able to say to God,

  418. you are right.

  419. Lord.

  420. Weeping may last for a night, for a night, but

  421. joy will come in the morning. Tama, Lord, you are good.

  422. We're going to look back and we're going.

  423. To say that God is good. Last thing I want

  424. to say.

  425. In verse two, it says, let's humble ourselves before God.

  426. If God is good, let's humble ourselves before God. If

  427. you're going to boast, don't boast about yourself, Boast about

  428. the Lord. Boast about the goodness of God in your life. Godi,

  429. blifess the Lorgian business.

  430. I'm in this year.

  431. Of all the crisis, the challenges. Praise God. This is

  432. the biggest sale we ever had. And it's not because

  433. of our careful planning and accounting. It's all about the

  434. goodness of God. If you're going to boast, boast about

  435. the Lord. Verse three, let's magnify him. Don't magnify your problem.

  436. Let's not magnify our weakness. Let's not magnify the crisis.

  437. Let's magnify the Lord. It's not that we deny the

  438. bad things that's happening, but I refuse to focus on that.

  439. I'm choosing to focus on God. If God is good,

  440. I have to focus on what God is doing.

  441. And verse four it says, let's seek him.

  442. And that's what we want to do is starting tomorrow,

  443. as we start the year, we want to seek God

  444. for his ways are better and his thoughts are higher.

  445. Now God is sovereign, he can use even our pain

  446. to do us good.

  447. I had a.

  448. Flu shot before, and it was painful, but it was

  449. a temporary affliction. Bao in flu shot, you know, when

  450. I realize what it can do for me, I realized

  451. that the pain is worth it for me to be

  452. protected for what the flu can actually the trouble that

  453. the flu can do to me, this is temporary. This

  454. this pain is not going to really cripple me. In fact,

  455. it's going to protect me. And sometimes we are mad

  456. that God for the shot when God is trying to

  457. protect us protect a handkitten. Congindica, you're not break last year.

  458. You're in for a big trouble, Hindi kungnatulo young business

  459. dil nayan.

  460. You will be in for a greater trouble.

  461. If you did not wait for the timing of God,

  462. you will be in for a greater trouble. Sometimes the

  463. pain that God is allowing in our lives is really.

  464. Meant to protect us, not to injure us.

  465. So God is sovereign. God is God can use even

  466. the pain to do us good. And sometimes, but Lloyd

  467. been a ala, I'd rather see you cry now than

  468. see you.

  469. Suffer for the rest of your life.

  470. God is a great plan for your life. And God

  471. is a good father, will do everything to protect us.

  472. And sometimes the best way to protect us and for

  473. us to listen is through pain. My pain, defiant, rebellious

  474. name and your.

  475. Nigh from Melissa.

  476. If a pain, it makes us attentive, it makes us humble,

  477. it makes us cooperative. Sometimes Gods allowed because God is

  478. a great plan for our life. You know, the Cross

  479. is the ultimate proof that God is good if you're

  480. looking for a proof, if you ever find yourself in

  481. a situation again.

  482. Which we all we we we all are.

  483. Sometimes we have this proclivity to still doubt Godhai moment

  484. that was after one week may problaim and Lord doesn't

  485. to talk about. We have this proclivity to forget God

  486. and forget the goodness of God in our life. But

  487. if ever we find ourselves again in that place, in

  488. that position where we are doubting, we're dama bato.

  489. Lord tutu lao.

  490. If you're looking for a proof of the goodness of God,

  491. just look at the cross, because the cross is the

  492. ultimate proof that God is good. When we look at

  493. the Cross, we are reminded that even in the midst

  494. of great evil, of great injustice, God was accomplishing something good.

  495. He was brutally murdered, He paid for the crime he

  496. never commit.

  497. That was injustice, that was evil.

  498. Yet now we know because of what Christ is done

  499. for us on the cross, salvation is possible for all

  500. of us. In fact, if not for the Cross, you

  501. and I won't be here today. How many of you

  502. are grateful for the Cross and for what Christ has

  503. done for us. So if you are here today you're

  504. asking why Lord, or why are you allowing me to

  505. be afflicted? Remember that there is purpose for the cross.

  506. There is purpose for the cross. And whatever you're going through,

  507. whatever is breaking your heart, let's all remember God is working.

  508. And doing something good. Because God is good.

  509. If you believe that, if you believe that God is good,

  510. give him a clap and a praise.

  511. Even right now, God is good? Can we all stand.

  512. Because we end our time together? Lord, we declare today

  513. that you are good. You are good at all times.

  514. You are worthy of our praise, You're worthy of our trust,

  515. You're worthy.

  516. Of everything we have.

  517. Lord, I pray today we will have greater confidence that

  518. we are serving a good God. That you are good

  519. in everything that you do. You are good in everything

  520. that you allow. You are good in every situation we

  521. find ourselves in.

  522. You are good in every season.

  523. You are good, and we are confident, like David, we

  524. will see your goodness in our lifetime.

  525. We will see your goodness.

  526. In the land of the living, not only when we

  527. die and be with you in heaven, but even here

  528. we will see your goodness of God. So thank you

  529. for assuring us I we would learn to trust you

  530. more and more. I pray we would learn to delight

  531. ourselves in you like David Guy Dian and I'm in

  532. mainteen the hand. Lord, what's happening? Lord, I pray like David,

  533. we will choose to praise you. We will choose to

  534. sing praises to you and worship you. We will give

  535. you a sacrifice of praise.

  536. Because you are good.

  537. I pray for those of us here today who are

  538. going through a difficult situation. Lord, I pray we would

  539. learn to wait and to have courage to wait on you, Lord,

  540. to wait on you, Lord, and be of good courage.

  541. Father that I pray that you will impart strength. I

  542. pray that you will impart joy. That there will be

  543. joy in waiting God. There will be peace in waiting,

  544. there will be faith in waiting, Lord God. We will

  545. not be paralyzed Lord by our situation.

  546. Lord.

  547. Rather, Lord God, we would learn to rise above our situation.

  548. We would learn, Lord God, to praise you, not based

  549. on our situation, but we would learn to praise you

  550. based on who you are, based on what you've done

  551. for us on the cross. We will not just look

  552. at the present situation. We will look at the cross

  553. and we will be reminded that God is good.
