Hi, it's Melinda.
-
I'm covering for Nancy today.
-
This past Sunday, Pastor Aaron, preaching from the book of Luke, chapter 24, and the road to Emmaus, told us in his third point that we need to realize the importance of scripture.
Luke 24 chapter mention
-
And that reminded me of a passage that Paul wrote to a young pastor named Timothy in the book of Timothy, and that's our daily walk verse today, from 2 Timothy chapter 2, verse 16 and 17, and God's word says, All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
-
See, Scripture was breathed out by God.
-
And if you look, a lot of study notes, study Bibles, and commentaries, they talked about this breathed out by God translates as a Greek word that up until this point had never been used.
-
Some even think that Paul might have even invented this word to show just the authority and the importance of scripture in our life.
-
That it's not just made up by man, but it's inspired and written and breathed out by God.
-
And that because of that, it has authority in our lives and in the lives of everyone.
-
And that it's this divine origin of the scripture is the reason for its power, not only to um help us see our need for Jesus, repent and follow and be converted, um, and trust Jesus as our Savior, but it's also completely useful in training.
-
If we see, if we break it kind of down, it says that it's breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching.
-
It helps us to learn about the things of God, it's for reproof, it gives us um, it shows us where we um are right and where we are wrong, and it's for correction, it helps us when we are wrong to correct us and lead us in a way um of understanding and of a direction change, and then it's lastly is for training and righteousness, and it helps us to walk more like Jesus.
-
So I would ask you today what where is scripture important for you?
-
Where have you decided that you're gonna let scripture breathe into your life and be profitable for righteousness in all good works?
-
Have a great day.
