Hi everyone, this is Nancy with your Wednesday edition of our daily walk.
-
This past Sunday I enjoyed time with my two adult sons.
-
Their love and watch care over me is such a blessing.
-
They are truly the hands and feet of the Lord in my life in so many ways.
-
In the quiet of this morning, I've been reflecting a bit on my mother who loved God with all her heart.
-
No matter what challenges she faced, and she faced many difficult ones.
-
She clung deeply to her belief in God's faithfulness, and she placed her hope in him, trusting that he would see her through and on to eternal life with him.
-
I asked that a portion of a verse in Lamentations be written on her headstone, because I do believe her faithfulness to God was great, and his faithfulness and his mercy was great towards her.
-
Let me share with you the verses in Lamentations that I believed she lived.
-
Lamentations 3, beginning with the last part of verse 21 and reading through verse 26.
-
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope.
-
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
-
His mercies never come to an end.
-
They are new every morning.
-
Great is your faithfulness.
-
The Lord is my portion, says my soul.
-
Therefore I will hope in him.
-
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
-
It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
-
This past Sunday we sang that great hymn that draws from that very passage.
-
Do you remember the words?
-
Oh, I can remember my mother singing that song.
-
Sometimes in a church service, and sometimes in the quiet of her own personal devotional time.
-
Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father.
-
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
-
Thou changest not.
-
Thy compassions they fail not.
-
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.
-
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon, and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
-
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth.
-
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide, strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.
-
Blessings all mine, and ten thousand beside.
-
Great is thy faithfulness.
-
Great is thy faithfulness.
-
Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
-
All I have needed, thy hand has provided.
-
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.
-
Amen.
