Good morning, First Baptist Wimberly.
-
This is Mike Gibbons.
-
Welcome to Friday.
-
I hope you have heard about the next five weeks here at First Baptist Wimberly.
-
If you haven't, then let me tell you, for the next five weeks, beginning this Sunday, August 23rd through Sunday, September 20th, we will be meeting for one gathering at 1030.
-
Normally we have two gatherings, but for the next few Sundays, we are going to all meet shoulder to shoulder.
-
I know you'll see some people you don't normally see.
-
Introduce yourselves to each other.
-
This is one of the reasons we are meeting in one service.
-
Our main reason for doing this, though, is to emphasize that we are entering a new phase at First Baptist Wimberly.
-
Pastor Aaron is going to introduce our core values.
-
The objective of these core values is to shape us and unite us to fulfill the mission of our church, to magnify Christ and share the gospel in our homes, the Wimberley Valley, and beyond.
-
These core values that you'll hear about define our unique identity.
-
They guide our decision making as a church and they direct our ministry actions.
-
They are born out of the Great Commission to make disciples and expressed by the Great Commandment to love God and love others.
-
We want to embrace these core values as a church family.
-
We want them to shape our attitudes.
-
We want these core values to unite us in love as we work together toward the same mission.
-
When we do that, we will be living out the main evangelistic task of the church, as expressed in John 13, verses 34 through 35.
-
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
-
You also are to love one another.
-
By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.
-
This is Mike Gibbons, and I love being your pastor.
