Good morning, First Baptist Wimberly.
-
This is Mike Gibbons.
-
Welcome to Friday.
-
I don't know about you, but I have been really enjoying this one gathering.
-
It is so good to see everyone together.
-
It encourages me and it makes me look forward even more to getting together on Sunday morning.
-
As Psalm 122.
-
I only got to stay a couple of days and had to leave on Saturday.
-
Over lunch, that Saturday, I reminded her that I would be leaving in a couple of hours.
-
She replied, Pops, you are going to miss the best day of the week.
-
I said, Really?
-
Izzy, what is the best day of the week?
-
Her reply really touched and convicted me.
-
She said, The best day of the week is Sunday because we get to learn even more about Jesus.
-
Now, her parents are doing a good job of raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
-
She wasn't saying that she wasn't learning about Jesus only on Sunday.
-
She learns about Jesus throughout the week.
-
What she was saying was that she was genuinely excited to participate in the fellowship of believers, worshiping together around the throne of grace in their local assembly.
-
As Psalm 84, 10 says, For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
-
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
-
So I'm checking my heart this week and asking, is there somewhere else I would rather be than with my church family on Sunday?
-
Do I really think there are better days elsewhere than one day in the court of our Lord?
-
This is Mike Gibbons, and I love being your pastor.
