  1. In Matthew 4, verse 17 to the end of the passage,

    Matthew 4:17

  2. And John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he caught them.

  3. Immediately they left their boat and their father and followed him.

  4. And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,

  5. and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.

  6. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick,

  7. those afflicted with various diseases and pains,

  8. those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics.

  9. And he healed them.

  10. And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis,

  11. and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

  12. Order!

  13. Order!

  14. Order!

  15. I know what I'm doing.

  16. Order!

  17. Order!

  18. Order!

  19. Order!

  20. Division!

  21. Order!

  22. Order!

  23. There's no good people shouting.

  24. There will be an opportunity for other points of order,

  25. but the Prime Minister must and will be heard.

  26. Order!

  27. Order!

  28. The horrible gentleman has got to learn the art of patience.

  29. And if he is patient, if he deploys Zen,

  30. he will find that it is ultimately to everybody's advantage.

  31. So we'll leave it there, and we come now.

  32. Now, I'm not...

  33. If it...

  34. No, very well.

  35. Order!

  36. Order!

  37. Order!

  38. Order!

  39. Zen!

  40. Restraint!

  41. Patience!

  42. Order!

  43. The title of this sermon is taken from this repeated cause of parliament speakers.

  44. This is John Burkow.

  45. He's been 10 years in the British parliament.

  46. And during...

  47. This one is in...

  48. I think it's German who put it up.

  49. And so when he retires,

  50. people just make lots of videos about him calling orders.

  51. So when these speakers,

  52. when they're shouting,

  53. order, order,

  54. they are giving an order to keep orders.

  55. The word order has two major meanings.

  56. One is to do things in turn,

  57. or in proper perspective.

  58. Another meaning is to give or receive a command.

  59. For example,

  60. in Matthew 6.33,

  61. Jesus said,

  62. but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.

  63. So this is an order

  64. to set the order of our priorities right.

  65. So in this sermon,

  66. I'm talking about these two kinds of orders.

  67. One is to see things in an orderly or proper perspective,

  68. and paying attention to wise orders.

  69. Sometimes they're a bit mixed up.

  70. Hopefully you can pick them up.

  71. So the members of the parliament know that

  72. they need someone to keep their meetings in order

  73. so that they can be efficient

  74. with the use of their time.

  75. But having elected such a person,

  76. they often fail to listen to the order of this person.

  77. So in the parliament,

  78. it reflects the life as general in our society.

  79. So we all like to live in an orderly world,

  80. but we do not know how to order our life,

  81. and we do not like to follow orders.

  82. I suppose most of us appreciate an orderly existence,

  83. such as knowing where to find a new pair of socks,

  84. or queuing up to enter a tenant event,

  85. or vehicles on the road,

  86. or obeying traffic rules.

  87. However, being orderly takes effort and time,

  88. and conforming to orders often infringe our right to comfort,

  89. respect, and self-expression.

  90. For example, we may set an alarm to wake us up

  91. according to our schedule,

  92. but when the alarm sounds,

  93. we might lock the alarm off.

  94. Why do we do that?

  95. Why do we get upset when the alarm sounds at the correct time?

  96. Because it interrupts our comfort.

  97. The desire for comfort often influences our behavior

  98. more than anything else.

  99. Another thing we observe in the parliament

  100. is that parliamentarians are usually merciless.

  101. They belittle or provoke one another.

  102. However, they do not care what their opponent's viewpoints are.

  103. They do not care if their opponent

  104. had a bad day or bad time in their family

  105. or personal life.

  106. Their priority is to win the argument.

  107. So they kept talking even when their times were up.

  108. This is to do with our desire

  109. or need to be respected.

  110. No one likes to appear to be a ruser in front of others.

  111. And also the heroes of our time

  112. are those who dare to challenge or rebel against others

  113. and show the world what they can do

  114. without conforming to social orders.

  115. We see others as some kind of oppression

  116. that stifles self-expression.

  117. We often think that we could do better than others

  118. if we are given a chance to express ourselves.

  119. So there is something wrong with the world.

  120. We seek comfort, respect, and self-expression.

  121. But these things usually bring these orders.

  122. As every one of us want to express ourselves,

  123. then there won't be order in the world.

  124. So it is like electing a speaker for parliament to keep orders.

  125. For everyone is busy expressing their wills

  126. and ignoring the calls to keep order.

  127. Or it is like setting an alarm clock

  128. to keep us up to our schedule

  129. but ignore the alarm and sleep in.

  130. Jesus came to a world like this.

  131. So in chapter 4 of Matthew,

  132. we were told firstly,

  133. Jesus met with temptations

  134. to claim his rights to comfort,

  135. respect, and self-expression.

  136. Jesus chose to be faithful to God's words,

  137. God's orders.

  138. Then Jesus became the light

  139. to the people in Galilee.

  140. Being the light of the world,

  141. Jesus showed us how this order of life is.

  142. If we live in a darkness,

  143. we never know how...

  144. We thought that our lives are good and orderly.

  145. But once the light shines,

  146. then we will know

  147. things are not that we thought it would be.

  148. And that's what Jesus was doing

  149. to the people in Galilee

  150. and the rest of the Matthew.

  151. We can, as we go on to the other chapters.

  152. So at verse 17 of chapter 4,

  153. Jesus said,

  154. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  155. So that is the first thing that Jesus said.

  156. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  157. Repent from seeking for your own kingdom.

  158. If the highest priority in your life

  159. is your right to comfort,

  160. respect, and self-expression,

  161. you will not find satisfaction or rest.

  162. However, if you give up your kingdom

  163. and seek the kingdom of heaven,

  164. you will find something more precious

  165. than your own right.

  166. This kingdom of heaven

  167. is not far away in space or time.

  168. It is something you can be part of now.

  169. The kingdom of God is at hand.

  170. So how did Jesus go about

  171. getting people to repent

  172. and change their ways?

  173. He started with setting right

  174. the order of things.

  175. So the first thing we can consider

  176. is the order of relation

  177. from Matthew chapter 4, verses 18 to 22.

    Matthew 4:18–22

  178. So what I mean by order of relation

  179. is how we relate to people and God.

  180. How do we see people or God

  181. in relation to us?

  182. How important they are?

  183. Do they see people as people?

  184. Jesus called the disciples.

  185. And then,

  186. why did Peter and Andrew,

  187. James and John,

  188. left their families and occupation

  189. and follow Jesus?

  190. It was because who Jesus was

  191. and whom Jesus called.

  192. I know that we usually understand

  193. the call to these brothers

  194. show the authority of Jesus

  195. as their king.

  196. So Jesus,

  197. we consider Jesus king,

  198. so he called,

  199. people will respond.

  200. And that is true.

  201. But there's more than that,

  202. I think.

  203. It's not that

  204. Jesus just simply called anyone

  205. he met

  206. or you think that this person

  207. looks smart

  208. or looks capable

  209. and he will call.

  210. There is a history

  211. behind that.

  212. First of all,

  213. in the book of John,

  214. we knew that

  215. at least John,

  216. the apostle,

  217. and also Andrew,

  218. they were followers

  219. of John the Baptist.

  220. So they,

  221. these two,

  222. John and Andrew,

  223. at least,

  224. maybe their brothers as well,

  225. there's Peter and James,

  226. they were already people

  227. who were looking for

  228. a better world

  229. or something that

  230. is different

  231. to what they experienced.

  232. And so when John the Baptist

  233. came,

  234. they followed

  235. John the Baptist.

  236. And here,

  237. we see the role

  238. of John the Baptist.

  239. he prepared a role

  240. for the Messiah

  241. and John the Baptist

  242. pointed Jesus out

  243. to Andrew and John.

  244. Andrew and John

  245. went to meet Jesus

  246. and spent some time

  247. with him.

  248. They then told

  249. their older brothers

  250. about Jesus.

  251. They knew enough

  252. about Jesus

  253. when the call came.

  254. Jesus also knew them

  255. and their families.

  256. In Matthew 8,

    Matthew 8:14

  257. verse 14,

  258. we will read about

  259. Jesus visiting

  260. Peter's mother-in-law

  261. and healing

  262. her illness.

  263. So,

  264. Jesus knew those

  265. whom he had called

  266. and he was interested

  267. in things that matter

  268. in their life.

  269. The political leaders

  270. focused only

  271. on their political

  272. against.

  273. They will make use

  274. of other people

  275. to reach their goals.

  276. Jesus did not

  277. call the disciples

  278. to be pawns

  279. in achieving

  280. his purpose.

  281. He called them

  282. to be followers

  283. and to be children

  284. of God.

  285. In the parliament,

  286. some people

  287. are indispensable.

  288. Without them,

  289. the government

  290. would not function.

  291. But most people

  292. are unimportant.

  293. Why are they

  294. unimportant?

  295. Because nobody,

  296. in a sense,

  297. inside the parliament

  298. itself,

  299. they are not

  300. being respected.

  301. Usually,

  302. you can see

  303. people just

  304. belittle

  305. the other politicians.

  306. They don't care

  307. much about them

  308. as a person.

  309. They care more

  310. about them

  311. as a means

  312. for them

  313. to be successful

  314. in their careers

  315. or to,

  316. yeah,

  317. either to help them

  318. or to make them

  319. or put them down.

  320. So,

  321. this is how

  322. our world

  323. functions.

  324. But in the kingdom

  325. of God,

  326. everyone is important

  327. because

  328. everyone is

  329. being redeemed

  330. by the blood

  331. of Jesus

  332. and people

  333. are

  334. so important

  335. that,

  336. yeah,

  337. the Lord Jesus

  338. died for them.

  339. But nobody

  340. is indispensable

  341. just because

  342. the kingdom of God

  343. will go on

  344. regardless

  345. whether we follow

  346. Jesus or not.

  347. Whether we do

  348. anything in the church

  349. or not,

  350. the church will

  351. still go on.

  352. So,

  353. that is the

  354. difference.

  355. in the system

  356. of the world

  357. and the kingdom

  358. of God.

  359. So,

  360. Jesus

  361. does not force

  362. or trick

  363. anyone to

  364. follow him

  365. because

  366. while everyone

  367. in the kingdom

  368. is important,

  369. none of us

  370. is indispensable.

  371. So,

  372. in the kingdom

  373. of God,

  374. personal comfort,

  375. position,

  376. and self-expression

  377. are no longer

  378. our priority.

  379. the disciples

  380. live together,

  381. rejoice together,

  382. suffer together.

  383. They do not

  384. need to outperform

  385. one another

  386. but learn to

  387. forgive one another

  388. and build up

  389. one another

  390. because of

  391. their relationship

  392. with Jesus

  393. and with

  394. one another.

  395. As we go on

  396. with the book

  397. of Matthew,

  398. we will see that

  399. in calling the

  400. disciples to

  401. follow him,

  402. Jesus

  403. would show the

  404. world that

  405. the proper order

  406. of things.

  407. The world

  408. sacrifices

  409. others to

  410. achieve

  411. the desires

  412. of their hearts.

  413. You will notice

  414. that people

  415. will tend to

  416. abuse those

  417. who are most

  418. willing to

  419. help them.

  420. If our parents

  421. help us a lot,

  422. we will tend

  423. to abuse

  424. their help

  425. before considering

  426. their own needs.

  427. This is a way

  428. of the world.

  429. Jesus sacrifices

  430. himself to

  431. complete those

  432. who follow him.

  433. While the first

  434. order of things

  435. in the world

  436. is personal

  437. comfort,

  438. respect,

  439. and self-expression,

  440. the first order

  441. of things

  442. who Jesus

  443. loves is love.

  444. How people

  445. relate to God

  446. and how people

  447. relate to one

  448. another.

  449. Then in Matthew

    Matthew 4:19

  450. chapter 4

  451. verse 19,

  452. we see the

  453. order of

  454. commission.

  455. That is,

  456. how do we

  457. live our life?

  458. Not so much

  459. about purpose-driven

  460. life,

  461. but whose purpose

  462. that is.

  463. What we live

  464. for.

  465. We see that

  466. in John's

  467. baptism,

  468. there is a

  469. purpose in

  470. his life.

  471. He didn't

  472. care about

  473. what the

  474. world offers.

  475. He just

  476. lived in the

  477. wilderness

  478. and prepared

  479. himself for

  480. the coming

  481. of the Lord

  482. Jesus Christ.

  483. And Jesus

  484. said to Peter

  485. and Andrew,

  486. follow me

  487. and I will

  488. make you

  489. fishers of

  490. men.

  491. Jesus was

  492. ordering Peter

  493. and Andrew

  494. to do

  495. something which

  496. they had not

  497. planned to do.

  498. Peter and

  499. Andrew were

  500. trained by

  501. their father

  502. to be

  503. fishermen.

  504. They would

  505. be expected

  506. to continue

  507. the family

  508. business.

  509. In addition,

  510. we know that

  511. at least Peter

  512. was married.

  513. What right

  514. did Jesus

  515. have to tell

  516. Peter and

  517. Andrew to

  518. leave their

  519. families and

  520. occupations

  521. and follow

  522. him?

  523. At this

  524. point,

  525. when my

  526. person asked,

  527. why did

  528. God not

  529. raise more

  530. people like

  531. John the

  532. Baptist to

  533. go with

  534. Jesus?

  535. It would

  536. have been

  537. easier for

  538. people who

  539. do not

  540. have any

  541. time with

  542. families or

  543. family business

  544. to follow

  545. Jesus?

  546. I suppose

  547. God could

  548. have done

  549. that.

  550. However,

  551. we can

  552. see that

  553. God's plan

  554. was to

  555. gather people

  556. into his

  557. church,

  558. not

  559. monastery.

  560. So God's

  561. church is

  562. made out of

  563. people like

  564. you and

  565. me,

  566. people with

  567. families and

  568. occupations.

  569. If you

  570. ask Peter

  571. why he

  572. obeyed

  573. Jesus'

  574. order,

  575. he might

  576. answer,

  577. don't the

  578. Baptist told

  579. us that

  580. Jesus was

  581. the Messiah

  582. we were

  583. waiting for?

  584. Andrew and

  585. I did

  586. check him

  587. out and

  588. found that

  589. Jesus was

  590. not an

  591. ordinary

  592. person.

  593. How should

  594. I explain

  595. this?

  596. Peter would

  597. try to

  598. imagine what

  599. Peter would

  600. say.

  601. Jesus may

  602. not be

  603. attractive

  604. physically,

  605. but he

  606. was beautiful.

  607. He was

  608. poor,

  609. but he

  610. lived like

  611. the richest

  612. person in

  613. the world.

  614. He was

  615. troubled by

  616. the suffering

  617. and injustice

  618. around him,

  619. but he

  620. was joyful

  621. all the

  622. time.

  623. He was

  624. humble,

  625. but at

  626. the same

  627. time,

  628. noble.

  629. So there's

  630. something about

  631. this Jesus

  632. that attracted

  633. the first

  634. disciples.

  635. Peter may

  636. ask,

  637. you ask me

  638. why you

  639. obey him?

  640. Would you

  641. not obey

  642. a man like

  643. this?

  644. You ask me

  645. why I

  646. give up my

  647. family and

  648. my job?

  649. At first,

  650. I did think

  651. that I gave

  652. up my

  653. family and

  654. my job

  655. so that I

  656. could help

  657. create a

  658. better world

  659. for my

  660. family by

  661. following

  662. Jesus.

  663. Now I

  664. understand that

  665. I did not

  666. give up

  667. anything.

  668. My family

  669. was not

  670. mine to

  671. give up,

  672. my job

  673. was not

  674. mine to

  675. give up.

  676. They

  677. belonged to

  678. God in

  679. the first

  680. place.

  681. By

  682. following

  683. Jesus,

  684. I gained

  685. life.

  686. My family

  687. also gained

  688. life.

  689. I could

  690. not hold

  691. on to

  692. my family

  693. forever.

  694. I could

  695. not hold

  696. on to

  697. my job

  698. forever.

  699. But the

  700. life in

  701. Christ is

  702. forever.

  703. If you

  704. ask Peter,

  705. do you

  706. know what

  707. it meant

  708. to follow

  709. Jesus?

  710. He

  711. told my

  712. answer.

  713. In the

  714. beginning,

  715. I thought

  716. I had

  717. joined a

  718. party of

  719. political and

  720. social,

  721. change.

  722. John the

  723. Baptist said

  724. the kingdom

  725. of heaven

  726. was at

  727. hand.

  728. I was

  729. sick of

  730. the injustice,

  731. corruption,

  732. oppression in

  733. society.

  734. I could

  735. not wait

  736. for the

  737. kingdom of

  738. heaven to

  739. come.

  740. I was

  741. shocked when

  742. Jesus started

  743. to tell us

  744. that he was

  745. going to be

  746. killed by

  747. the current

  748. political

  749. leaders.

  750. How do

  751. you fight

  752. injustice,

  753. corruption,

  754. and oppression

  755. by being

  756. killed by

  757. such a

  758. system?

  759. I now

  760. understand that

  761. I was part

  762. of the

  763. disorders in

  764. the society.

  765. I could

  766. not even

  767. change myself.

  768. How could I

  769. think that I

  770. could change

  771. the world?

  772. Jesus'

  773. death was

  774. necessary for

  775. my sins to

  776. be forgiven

  777. and for me to

  778. receive the

  779. Holy Spirit.

  780. It is only with

  781. the Holy Spirit

  782. that I could

  783. become like

  784. Jesus,

  785. living a life

  786. that brings

  787. blessing to

  788. others and

  789. glory to

  790. God.

  791. God.

  792. If you

  793. ask Peter,

  794. which is

  795. easier,

  796. to catch

  797. fish or

  798. to catch

  799. men?

  800. Peter might

  801. say,

  802. there are

  803. two different

  804. matters.

  805. You catch

  806. fish to

  807. sustain your

  808. life.

  809. To catch

  810. men,

  811. you need

  812. to give

  813. your life.

  814. As Paul

  815. told Titus

  816. that all

  817. men were

  818. foolish,

  819. disobedient,

  820. led astray,

  821. slave to

  822. various passions

  823. and pleasures,

  824. passing their

  825. days in

  826. malaise and

  827. envy,

  828. hated by

  829. others and

  830. hating one

  831. another.

  832. Titus 3.3

  833. How do you

  834. catch men

  835. like this?

  836. It is

  837. impossible

  838. unless the

  839. Holy Spirit

  840. was in

  841. you and

  842. in their

  843. hearts.

  844. In the

  845. kingdom of

  846. heaven,

  847. relationship

  848. with God

  849. and with

  850. one another

  851. is more

  852. important than

  853. personal comfort,

  854. respect,

  855. and self-expression.

  856. Having a

  857. sense of

  858. mission,

  859. a higher

  860. purpose in

  861. life is

  862. also important.

  863. As Jesus

  864. becomes our

  865. Savior and

  866. Lord,

  867. we will

  868. have life.

  869. And this

  870. life will

  871. come with

  872. a mission.

  873. In

  874. Matthew 4,

  875. 23a,

  876. we come to

  877. the next

  878. order,

  879. the order

  880. of logic.

  881. That is,

  882. what are the

  883. most important

  884. things in

  885. life?

  886. how do

  887. we

  888. logically

  889. decide

  890. what to

  891. live for

  892. or how

  893. our life

  894. should be?

  895. Jesus went

  896. throughout all

  897. Galilee,

  898. teaching in

  899. the synagogues

  900. and proclaiming

  901. the gospel of

  902. the kingdom.

  903. We shall

  904. learn some

  905. of the

  906. teachings of

  907. Jesus in

  908. the subsequent

  909. chapters of

  910. the gospel.

  911. For now,

  912. it is enough

  913. for us to

  914. understand that

  915. Jesus was

  916. the Logos.

  917. The gospel of

  918. John says,

  919. in the

  920. beginning was

  921. the Logos,

  922. and the

  923. Logos was

  924. God,

  925. and the

  926. Logos was

  927. with God,

  928. and the

  929. Logos was

  930. God.

  931. Logos was

  932. translated into

  933. word in

  934. English.

  935. However,

  936. Logos means

  937. much more

  938. than word as

  939. we understand

  940. it.

  941. Logos also

  942. means logic

  943. and order.

  944. What was

  945. Jesus teaching?

  946. He was

  947. teaching that

  948. there was

  949. logic and

  950. order in

  951. the existence

  952. of things.

  953. We can only

  954. understand this

  955. when we know

  956. this Logos.

  957. Woly logic

  958. tells us that

  959. we have the

  960. right to

  961. comfort,

  962. respect,

  963. and self-expression.

  964. When I'm in

  965. pain,

  966. or lose my

  967. reputation,

  968. or not given

  969. a chance to

  970. show others

  971. what I can

  972. do,

  973. what should

  974. I expect

  975. from God?

  976. I would

  977. expect God

  978. to intervene

  979. and restore

  980. my comfort,

  981. respect,

  982. and self-expression.

  983. However,

  984. as you know,

  985. life seldom

  986. turns up

  987. like that.

  988. Our pain,

  989. our humiliation,

  990. and our

  991. obscurity

  992. may persist

  993. without any

  994. deliverance.

  995. We want a

  996. God who

  997. intervenes

  998. on demand,

  999. defeats our

  1000. enemies,

  1001. relieves our

  1002. sufferings,

  1003. solves our

  1004. problem quickly.

  1005. The first

  1006. disciples had

  1007. the same

  1008. expectation from

  1009. God.

  1010. In the

  1011. following

  1012. chapters of

  1013. Matthew,

  1014. we shall

  1015. see that

  1016. Jesus was

  1017. teaching

  1018. disciples about

  1019. suffering for

  1020. the kingdom

  1021. of heaven.

  1022. Holy logic

  1023. about life

  1024. does not

  1025. make sense

  1026. when we

  1027. suffer in

  1028. this

  1029. disorder and

  1030. disrupted

  1031. world.

  1032. The

  1033. logical

  1034. order of

  1035. things starts

  1036. with our

  1037. willingness to

  1038. suffer.

  1039. The

  1040. suffering is

  1041. not mainly

  1042. for others

  1043. or for

  1044. God,

  1045. but for

  1046. ourselves,

  1047. for us.

  1048. Holy logic

  1049. tells us that

  1050. we must

  1051. fight for

  1052. our rights,

  1053. otherwise our

  1054. life is not

  1055. worth living.

  1056. Jesus said,

  1057. deny yourself,

  1058. take up the

  1059. cross and

  1060. follow me.

  1061. It is only

  1062. when we

  1063. suffer the

  1064. loss of

  1065. comfort,

  1066. respect and

  1067. self-expression

  1068. that we can

  1069. start to

  1070. understand the

  1071. kingdom of

  1072. God.

  1073. Even John

  1074. the Baptist

  1075. had his

  1076. doubt about

  1077. Jesus when

  1078. John was

  1079. languishing in

  1080. prison.

  1081. We read

  1082. from Matthew

  1083. 11, 2-6.

  1084. Now when

  1085. John heard

  1086. in prison

  1087. about the

  1088. deeds of

  1089. the Christ,

  1090. he sent

  1091. word by

  1092. his disciples

  1093. and said

  1094. to him,

  1095. are you

  1096. the one

  1097. who is

  1098. to come

  1099. or shall

  1100. we look

  1101. for another?

  1102. Why did

  1103. you not

  1104. say that?

  1105. Because the

  1106. Messiah who

  1107. came was

  1108. supposed to

  1109. set the

  1110. prisoner free

  1111. and he

  1112. was still

  1113. in prison.

  1114. And Jesus

  1115. answered

  1116. him,

  1117. go and

  1118. tell John

  1119. what you

  1120. hear and

  1121. see.

  1122. The blind

  1123. receive their

  1124. sight and

  1125. the lamb

  1126. walk.

  1127. Lepers are

  1128. cleansed and

  1129. the deaf

  1130. hear and

  1131. the dead

  1132. are raised

  1133. up and

  1134. the poor

  1135. have good

  1136. news preached

  1137. to them.

  1138. And blessed

  1139. is the one

  1140. who is not

  1141. offended by

  1142. me.

  1143. John the

  1144. Baptist was

  1145. wondering why

  1146. he was

  1147. suffering in

  1148. prison while

  1149. Jesus was

  1150. performing

  1151. miracles in

  1152. the community.

  1153. John the

  1154. Baptist was

  1155. like the

  1156. prophet Elijah.

  1157. They are

  1158. both faithful

  1159. servants of

  1160. God and

  1161. they both

  1162. expected God

  1163. to defeat

  1164. evil with

  1165. power.

  1166. Jesus replied

  1167. to John

  1168. was,

  1169. what I

  1170. preach and

  1171. what I

  1172. did are

  1173. enough to

  1174. reassure you

  1175. my identity.

  1176. I will

  1177. indeed defeat

  1178. evil and

  1179. restore order

  1180. to the

  1181. creation,

  1182. but not

  1183. in the way

  1184. or the

  1185. timing you

  1186. expect.

  1187. Do not

  1188. trust me

  1189. because I

  1190. do things

  1191. according to

  1192. your orders,

  1193. but trust

  1194. me because

  1195. of who

  1196. I am.

  1197. If we

  1198. live by

  1199. the logic

  1200. of the

  1201. world,

  1202. we will

  1203. be offended

  1204. by Jesus.

  1205. Jesus did

  1206. not come to

  1207. make our

  1208. earthly life

  1209. more comfortable.

  1210. Jesus did

  1211. not come to

  1212. help us to

  1213. fulfill ourselves.

  1214. He came to

  1215. live a life of

  1216. love and

  1217. obedience to

  1218. God.

  1219. In doing so,

  1220. He redeems us

  1221. and tells us

  1222. to follow Him.

  1223. The way of the

  1224. cross is the

  1225. only way for

  1226. us to be

  1227. different from

  1228. the way of

  1229. the world.

  1230. The way of

  1231. the cross is

  1232. the only way

  1233. for us to

  1234. find rest in

  1235. our souls.

  1236. And the

  1237. last one is

  1238. from Matthew

    Matthew 4:23

  1239. chapter 4,

  1240. verse 23,

  1241. B,

  1242. until,

  1243. and verse

  1244. 25,

  1245. the order of

  1246. creation.

  1247. There is,

  1248. what does God

  1249. want,

  1250. what does God

  1251. want to change

  1252. in our minds

  1253. and our hearts,

  1254. in our thinking

  1255. as well?

  1256. There is,

  1257. why does God

  1258. create the

  1259. whole universe?

  1260. So God

  1261. created the

  1262. universe with

  1263. the seventh

  1264. day in mind.

  1265. It is the

  1266. day of rest.

  1267. The creation

  1268. was waiting

  1269. with ego,

  1270. longing for

  1271. the revealing

  1272. of the sons

  1273. of God.

  1274. That is

  1275. from Romans

  1276. 8.

  1277. The creation

  1278. was subjected

  1279. to futility

  1280. and is waiting

  1281. to be set

  1282. free from

  1283. its bondage

  1284. to corruption

  1285. and obtain

  1286. the freedom

  1287. of the glory

  1288. of the children

  1289. of God.

  1290. God.

  1291. In the

  1292. presence of

  1293. Jesus,

  1294. the son of

  1295. God,

  1296. we see

  1297. the healing

  1298. of those

  1299. who were

  1300. afflicted with

  1301. virus,

  1302. disease,

  1303. and pain,

  1304. those oppressed

  1305. by demons,

  1306. epileptics,

  1307. and paralytics.

  1308. This is a

  1309. taste of what

  1310. is to come.

  1311. At the

  1312. revealing of

  1313. the sons

  1314. of God

  1315. in the day

  1316. when Jesus

  1317. comes again,

  1318. sickness,

  1319. demons,

  1320. pains,

  1321. and paralysis

  1322. will no longer

  1323. be able to

  1324. interrupt the

  1325. day of rest

  1326. for those

  1327. who are

  1328. in Christ.

  1329. We heard

  1330. the speaker

  1331. of the

  1332. parliament

  1333. telling members

  1334. to practice

  1335. Zen

  1336. to keep

  1337. orders.

  1338. The world

  1339. does not

  1340. know how

  1341. to keep

  1342. orders.

  1343. Practicing

  1344. Zen

  1345. may help

  1346. us to

  1347. calm down

  1348. for a while,

  1349. but it

  1350. does not

  1351. last long.

  1352. God

  1353. does not

  1354. tell us

  1355. to practice

  1356. Zen.

  1357. God

  1358. does not

  1359. just shout

  1360. order,

  1361. order.

  1362. He does

  1363. something about

  1364. this.

  1365. God sent

  1366. his son

  1367. in Jesus.

  1368. we see

  1369. orders.

  1370. Before

  1371. Jesus'

  1372. natural

  1373. and physical

  1374. disorders

  1375. submitted

  1376. themselves,

  1377. Jesus showed

  1378. us a more

  1379. excellent way

  1380. to live.

  1381. In Matthew

    Matthew 11:28–30

  1382. 11,

  1383. verses 28

  1384. to 30,

  1385. Jesus said,

  1386. Come to

  1387. me,

  1388. all who

  1389. labor and

  1390. are heavy

  1391. laden,

  1392. and I

  1393. will give

  1394. you rest.

  1395. Take my

  1396. yoke upon

  1397. you and

  1398. learn from

  1399. me,

  1400. for I am

  1401. gentle and

  1402. lowly in

  1403. heart,

  1404. and you

  1405. will find

  1406. rest for

  1407. your soul,

  1408. for my

  1409. yoke is

  1410. easy and

  1411. my burden

  1412. is light.

  1413. The

  1414. order of

  1415. relation

  1416. is shown

  1417. in the

  1418. Trinity.

  1419. In the

  1420. baptism of

  1421. Jesus,

  1422. the Holy

  1423. Spirit

  1424. descended

  1425. on him,

  1426. and the

  1427. Father said,

  1428. This is

  1429. my beloved

  1430. son,

  1431. with whom

  1432. I am

  1433. well pleased.

  1434. Jesus

  1435. then gave

  1436. a new

  1437. commandment

  1438. to his

  1439. disciples,

  1440. love one

  1441. another.

  1442. When we

  1443. are called

  1444. to follow

  1445. Jesus,

  1446. we will

  1447. have the

  1448. ability

  1449. to love.

  1450. Real love

  1451. cause.

  1452. It

  1453. cause us

  1454. comfort,

  1455. respect,

  1456. and self-expression.

  1457. 1 John

  1458. 4, 7

  1459. said,

  1460. Beloved,

  1461. let us

  1462. love one

  1463. another,

  1464. and whoever

  1465. loves has

  1466. been born

  1467. of God

  1468. and knows

  1469. God.

  1470. How do

  1471. we love?

  1472. We love

  1473. when we

  1474. start

  1475. treasuring

  1476. God and

  1477. other people.

  1478. The order

  1479. of commission

  1480. is also

  1481. shown in

  1482. the Trinity.

  1483. As the

  1484. Father has

  1485. sent me,

  1486. so send

  1487. an eye

  1488. you.

  1489. When we

  1490. are called

  1491. to follow

  1492. Jesus,

  1493. we will

  1494. have a

  1495. sense of

  1496. mission in

  1497. life,

  1498. a mission

  1499. that makes

  1500. us forego

  1501. personal comfort,

  1502. respect,

  1503. and self-expression.

  1504. A missional

  1505. life does not

  1506. start with

  1507. preaching the

  1508. gospel.

  1509. It can,

  1510. but it

  1511. doesn't need

  1512. to.

  1513. It starts

  1514. with something

  1515. simple,

  1516. just like

  1517. being on

  1518. time,

  1519. being

  1520. considerate

  1521. to other

  1522. people,

  1523. and being

  1524. gospel-minded

  1525. in what

  1526. we do.

  1527. The order

  1528. of logic

  1529. is shown

  1530. in the

  1531. Trinity.

  1532. In the

  1533. beginning,

  1534. the world

  1535. was chaotic

  1536. and without

  1537. form.

  1538. The Spirit

  1539. of God

  1540. was hovering

  1541. over the

  1542. face of

  1543. the water.

  1544. God spoke,

  1545. and the

  1546. world obeyed

  1547. its creator

  1548. and became

  1549. orderly.

  1550. When we

  1551. are called

  1552. to follow

  1553. Jesus,

  1554. another change

  1555. is in our

  1556. mind.

  1557. Our minds

  1558. are being

  1559. renewed day

  1560. by day.

  1561. Through

  1562. suffering,

  1563. we gradually

  1564. learn to

  1565. trust God's

  1566. order of

  1567. things,

  1568. and not

  1569. demanding God

  1570. to do

  1571. things according

  1572. to our

  1573. own orders.

  1574. The order

  1575. of creation

  1576. is shown

  1577. in the

  1578. Trinity.

  1579. God set

  1580. aside the

  1581. seventh day

  1582. of the

  1583. Sabbath.

  1584. The Lord

  1585. Jesus said

  1586. He was

  1587. the Lord

  1588. of the

  1589. Sabbath.

  1590. Meanwhile,

  1591. Jesus said,

  1592. My Father

  1593. is working

  1594. until now,

  1595. and I am

  1596. working.

  1597. The Father

  1598. and Son

  1599. sent the

  1600. Holy Spirit

  1601. to convict,

  1602. comfort,

  1603. and bring

  1604. many sons

  1605. to glory.

  1606. The

  1607. restoration

  1608. of relationship,

  1609. the restoration

  1610. of regional

  1611. life,

  1612. and the

  1613. restoration

  1614. of our

  1615. minds

  1616. are all

  1617. necessary

  1618. to bring

  1619. us

  1620. rest

  1621. in the

  1622. pride in

  1623. God.

  1624. Jesus is

  1625. still

  1626. proclaiming,

  1627. repent for

  1628. the kingdom

  1629. of heaven

  1630. is at

  1631. hand.

  1632. Through

  1633. His

  1634. disciples,

  1635. Jesus is

  1636. still calling

  1637. and sending

  1638. disciples.

  1639. The way

  1640. of the

  1641. cross is

  1642. uncomfortable,

  1643. and often

  1644. humiliating,

  1645. and usually

  1646. means obscurity.

  1647. But as you

  1648. walk in it,

  1649. you will find

  1650. love,

  1651. purpose,

  1652. meaning,

  1653. and rest.

  1654. would you

  1655. repent of

  1656. your way

  1657. and follow

  1658. Him?

  1659. Let us

  1660. pray.

  1661. Father,

  1662. we

  1663. usually do

  1664. live in

  1665. darkness,

  1666. and many

  1667. a time

  1668. we don't

  1669. like

  1670. light,

  1671. because we

  1672. don't want

  1673. our

  1674. evil

  1675. is

  1676. exposed.

  1677. we

  1678. thank

  1679. you for

  1680. your

  1681. goodness

  1682. to us,

  1683. and you

  1684. pull us

  1685. out from

  1686. darkness,

  1687. and change

  1688. us,

  1689. and help

  1690. us to

  1691. see your

  1692. intended

  1693. way of

  1694. life,

  1695. what life

  1696. supposed to

  1697. be.

  1698. We

  1699. worship

  1700. you,

  1701. and to

  1702. know that

  1703. you are

  1704. the God

  1705. who created

  1706. all things

  1707. and ordered

  1708. all things.

  1709. Thank you,

  1710. Father.

  1711. We pray in

  1712. Jesus' name.

  1713. Amen.

  1714. Amen.
