  1. Good morning.

  2. It's good to be here. It's good to be here with you.

  3. If you haven't figured out, during the hot days of the summer, our church has, just like SeaWorld, splash zones.

  4. There are places where the fans blow.

  5. So if you are dying of heat, get up, move around, find a place where you can be comfortable as we look at God's Word together.

  6. I don't want you dying out there.

  7. I know it's getting a little warm.

  8. But it is a good day to be here in the house of the Lord together.

  9. So let's rejoice in that.

  10. You know, it's one of the best opening scenes in modern television history.

  11. A man lying on the ground and an eye pops open.

  12. Do you remember it?

  13. Some of you are too young to have seen the first episode of the series Lost that was a huge hit for 10 years.

  14. That eye belonged to Jack Shepard.

  15. And as he raised himself up in the middle of a bamboo forest, ran frantically trying to find out where he was,

  16. and emerged onto a beach where at first silence as he looked one way and then the other way.

  17. Chaos.

  18. The sound of an airplane engine whirring in the background, overwhelming everything else, screams and cries.

  19. And you realize that Jack Shepard had just been in a plane accident.

  20. The plane had gone down.

  21. And Jack was emerging into this scene of chaos.

  22. Bewildered.

  23. Afraid.

  24. Uncertain.

  25. Thankful to be alive.

  26. But confused.

  27. What do I do now?

  28. Where do I go?

  29. How do I proceed?

  30. Friends, we haven't been in an airplane crash.

  31. I would imagine most of you.

  32. I don't know.

  33. Maybe someone has.

  34. But I think that this is something that happens to us often in life.

  35. We go through some change.

  36. We go through some transition.

  37. And suddenly we're in this new situation.

  38. And we don't know where we are.

  39. And we don't know where we're going.

  40. And we wonder, how do we go forward from here?

  41. What does that look like?

  42. Some of you are starting school this week.

  43. Maybe it's a new school.

  44. Maybe it's a new town for you.

  45. Some of you are heading back to elementary school or junior high or high school.

  46. And as you walk in that first day, some of you have, some of you will do it tomorrow.

  47. You may experience a similar disorientation.

  48. And ask the same questions.

  49. Why am I here?

  50. What has brought me here?

  51. How am I going to get through this?

  52. And friends, it doesn't even need to take a life transition for that to happen.

  53. Sometimes life just comes at you, doesn't it?

  54. And brings something unexpected.

  55. Bring something overwhelming.

  56. And you find yourself in this place of bewilderment and fear and uncertainty.

  57. And as we stand there, we ask the question, God, where are you?

  58. God, why am I here?

  59. God, how do I move forward from here?

  60. What is it going to look like for me to move ahead from where I am right now?

  61. Well, friends, that's where our passage this morning takes us.

  62. We are in Acts 28.

  63. That's page 937 in your pew Bible.

  64. If you've not been here all summer, we are preaching through the end of the book of Acts.

  65. And this is the penultimate sermon.

  66. Greg will wrap it up next week.

  67. But this week is the second to last one.

  68. And our passage speaks to that kind of disorientation and confusion and speaks words of hope.

  69. If you remember last week, Pastor Nick read chapter 27.

  70. Paul is a prisoner being taken to Rome.

  71. And he's on a ship that ultimately wrecks in the sea.

  72. And as we begin this passage, Paul and all the people in the ship have not been saved from the storm.

  73. They have not been saved from the shipwreck.

  74. But through the storm and through the shipwreck, God has carried them.

  75. And God has brought them to the beach like Jack Shepard.

  76. Wondering, why are we here and where do we go from here?

  77. So, let's read together Acts chapter 28.

    Acts 28 chapter mention

  78. We're going to read verses 1 through 16 together.

  79. After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta.

  80. The native people showed us unusual kindness.

  81. For they kindled a fire and welcomed us all because it had begun to rain and was cold.

  82. When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire,

  83. a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand.

  84. When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another,

  85. No doubt this man is a murderer.

  86. Though he has escaped the sea, justice has not allowed him to live.

  87. He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

  88. They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead.

  89. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him,

  90. they changed their minds and said he was a god.

  91. Now, in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief men of the island named Publius,

  92. who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days.

  93. It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery,

  94. and Paul visited him and prayed and, putting his hands on him, healed him.

  95. And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured.

  96. They honored us greatly.

  97. They also honored us greatly.

  98. And when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed.

  99. After three months, we set sail on a ship that had wintered in the island,

  100. a ship of Alexandria with the twin gods as figurehead.

  101. Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days.

  102. And from then, we made a circuit and arrived at Regium.

  103. And after one day, a south wind sprang up.

  104. And on the second day, we came to Puteoli.

  105. There, we found brothers and were invited to stay with them for seven days.

  106. And so, we came to Rome.

  107. And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and three taverns to meet us.

  108. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.

  109. And when we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

  110. Let's pray together.

  111. Lord, we are thankful for your word.

  112. For in it, you speak to us.

  113. And Lord, you speak to us not only information about you or what has happened in the past.

  114. But Lord, you speak to us words of life.

  115. Words that are meant to encourage our souls.

  116. To turn our gaze towards you and to see you in all your majesty and beauty.

  117. Holy Spirit, I invite you this morning.

  118. Help us to understand your word rightly.

  119. And to respond as you would have us to this morning.

  120. We pray in Jesus' name.

  121. Amen.

  122. Amen.

  123. In this odd little passage,

  124. this odd narrative stuck at the end of this long book about God's work in building his church,

  125. what do we see?

  126. What is there for us this morning?

  127. I think we see this.

  128. We see a portrait.

  129. It is a portrait of God's provision for his people pursuing his mission.

  130. I want to talk about two key aspects of that this morning.

  131. I want to talk about how God, both in building the early church in Acts and still today,

  132. God is active.

  133. I want to talk about what it is to understand his mission

  134. and what it is to understand his provision for his people.

  135. This is the big picture.

  136. God's provision for his people pursuing his mission.

  137. You may not have noticed it.

  138. The most important verse, I think, in the big picture of this book of Acts is verse 14.

  139. It is actually just the very last part of verse 14.

  140. Right?

  141. What does it say?

  142. Look with me.

  143. And so we came to Rome.

  144. This is the most exciting thing that we have seen in eight chapters in the book of Acts.

  145. Because Paul has been trying to get here for eight chapters.

  146. Why?

  147. Why?

  148. Why is that so important for Paul?

  149. If you go back, you realize Paul had gone to Jerusalem and there had been arrested and accused.

  150. He had been brought before various courts.

  151. And in defending his ministry and in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ,

  152. he had found himself imprisoned and on this inexorable process of heading towards Rome.

  153. He had actually appealed.

  154. He wanted to testify before Caesar.

  155. He'd appealed to go to Caesar so that he could testify.

  156. And so this is in some ways the climax of this whole great narrative from the last chapters.

  157. Now a cynic might think the big reason why Paul wanted to go to Rome is simply so that Paul could defend himself and be vindicated

  158. and be shown to be not a rebel against the Roman Empire.

  159. And that this is simply a theological discussion between Jews and the new believers in Jesus.

  160. But I don't think that's all that it was.

  161. Paul, even though he was in chains, saw Rome as an opportunity.

  162. An opportunity for a number of things.

  163. If you go back in Acts 27, in the middle of the chapter,

  164. God himself comes and says,

  165. You're going to survive this shipwreck because you will testify before Caesar.

  166. You will tell him about the grace of God and what he has done in Jesus Christ.

  167. So God himself reminded Paul,

  168. This is why you're going to Rome.

  169. So you can testify, not about your innocence, but about the work of God in Christ.

  170. We also see from the book of Romans that Paul had long wanted to go to Rome to bless the church,

  171. to be with them, to encourage one another.

  172. It's what we see in Romans 1.

  173. And in Romans 15, we see that Paul had a greater vision too.

  174. That Paul wanted to get to Rome to encourage the brothers there,

  175. but he wanted to go beyond that.

  176. He wanted to take the good news of Jesus Christ beyond to Spain.

  177. He saw Rome as the launching point for a new mission

  178. to reach people who had never before heard about Christ.

  179. Friends, this was Paul's mission.

  180. And you know what?

  181. It was a costly one, wasn't it?

  182. It was a costly one because he wasn't going willingly to Rome at one level, was he?

  183. He was in chains.

  184. He was a prisoner.

  185. He was not a free man choosing to go where he would and when he wanted to.

  186. But he was pulled along by those who held him captive.

  187. And in those chains, he suffered years in prison, shipwrecks.

  188. It's pretty remarkable.

  189. And for Paul, as he saw this cost, he thought, well, this is worth it.

  190. Why?

  191. Because I get to tell others about Jesus.

  192. I get to tell others that he is not dead, but he is risen.

  193. And that makes all the difference in the world.

  194. And so with that sense of vision, even though the cost on his life was high,

  195. he was able to even walk through it in an incredibly gracious way.

  196. As he pursued this mission, strikingly in this story, he was gathering wood.

  197. Right?

  198. He's not thinking, okay, I've been saved.

  199. God said I'm going to get to Rome.

  200. I'm just going to sit back and let people take care of me.

  201. Right?

  202. They shipwrecked.

  203. They were cold.

  204. They were wet.

  205. It had started to rain.

  206. And so Paul goes out and he's gathering wood.

  207. Expending himself yet more for the sake of others.

  208. Later on in our story, in verses 8 and 9, Paul's welcomed in.

  209. You might have thought, oh man, Publius, this is like a day at the spa.

  210. I finally get to relax.

  211. I get some refreshment.

  212. Oh, this is nice.

  213. I need a break.

  214. But Paul didn't see that.

  215. Paul heard, oh, his father is sick.

  216. Let me go pray for him and ask the Lord to heal him.

  217. And then when he did, it wasn't just him, but the whole island, all the sick people on

  218. the island came to visit Paul.

  219. And during his time there, he had a ministry of healing the sick.

  220. And so we see Paul pursuing the mission that God had put on his life to testify to the grace

  221. of God.

  222. It is why he's on the ship.

  223. It is why he acts the way he does towards those in this story.

  224. I wonder, friends, what about you?

  225. What is the mission you're on this morning?

  226. I'm here to tell you that God has a mission for you if you will take it up.

  227. In Acts 17, verses 26 and 27, Paul, preaching to the Athenians, quotes this remarkable statement.

    Acts 17:26

  228. He says, I'm going to paraphrase here.

  229. He says, God has determined the places that you live and the times that you live.

  230. God knows that you are here in New Haven today.

  231. It's not an accident.

  232. God has determined these things for you and he's determined them for a purpose.

  233. A purpose that you might seek God and that you might find him for he's not far from you.

  234. I don't know if you may be here this morning and thinking, I don't actually know why I'm in church.

  235. I'm not usually here.

  236. I'm exploring this.

  237. Or maybe you're thinking, I've been going to church for a long time and I'm about ready to pull the plug.

  238. God has you here this morning.

  239. God has you here in New Haven so that you might seek him and you might find him.

  240. But friends, this is just the beginning of God's great call in your life.

  241. In 1 Peter chapter 2, Paul, I'm sorry, the apostle Peter reminds the believers that he's writing to,

    1 Peter 2 chapter mention

  242. ironically, probably in Rome, probably suffering great trials, he reminds them,

  243. God has made you his special people, a chosen race, a royal people, a people belonging to him.

  244. God has called all believers in Christ into his family, but not just so that they might be saved from the storm,

  245. but so that they might also then, as he goes on, he says,

  246. in order that you may declare the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness and into the kingdom of his beloved son.

  247. This is the calling for all who claim the name of Christ,

  248. that we should boast about our Savior,

  249. that we would say, there is no one like him.

  250. There is none other in the world who has been what he is for me.

  251. This comes in joy, in worship.

  252. It comes in testimony of this is how he's changed our lives.

  253. It comes in the proclamation to a dying world that is losing hope,

  254. that there is a Savior,

  255. and he is the best thing that you will ever find.

  256. And so, friends, he calls you

  257. to take up this mission.

  258. He calls you to embrace this.

  259. Some of you are going to be in New Haven for a couple of years.

  260. Some of you will be in New Haven for the rest of your lives.

  261. Some of you are newly arrived.

  262. Some of you have lived your whole life here.

  263. The question is not actually where you are.

  264. The question is, whose mission are you on?

  265. God has a mission for you to know him

  266. and to make him known.

  267. It's easy.

  268. It's easy for us to slide into having a very self-centered mission

  269. for our lives.

  270. I'm just here to get my degree and get out of here.

  271. I don't even like the Northeast.

  272. And it hasn't even snowed yet.

  273. Some of you are thinking,

  274. I know, I know, but I just got to raise my family,

  275. earn my money,

  276. get my ducks in order.

  277. Eventually, I can do that, but not now.

  278. I'm too busy.

  279. I got too much other things to do with my life.

  280. Friends, God says, no, this is not your mission.

  281. He has called you here to be great students.

  282. He has caused you here to raise your families.

  283. Whatever your life situation here,

  284. God has called you here.

  285. And he wants you to honor him

  286. in how you do those things diligently and well

  287. and with an eye to the glory of God.

  288. But friends, if we pursue those things

  289. and we lose the mission of knowing God

  290. and making him known,

  291. we have lost our way.

  292. Some of you may be this morning disillusioned

  293. and weary.

  294. You've been in the church for a long time

  295. and you think,

  296. I've walked that road.

  297. I'm tired of it.

  298. It's too hard.

  299. We will see in just a minute

  300. that God's provision for you is sufficient

  301. to refresh your weary soul

  302. and to see that though it is hard

  303. and the cost is great,

  304. there is no mission that is more worthwhile.

  305. There is no higher calling

  306. than to live for Christ and his kingdom.

  307. Some of you may know the story

  308. of a man named William Borden.

  309. He was an heir to the great Borden Dairy fortune.

  310. He came to New Haven in 1905

  311. as a freshman at Yale.

  312. He had every human advantage it seemed.

  313. He was an outstanding student

  314. becoming the president of Phi Beta Kappa.

  315. He was an outstanding athlete

  316. known as a rower and a sailor and a wrestler.

  317. When he came to New Haven,

  318. when he began his years at Yale,

  319. he purposed that he was going to be here

  320. for the sake of Christ and his kingdom.

  321. He purposed to begin to pray for all of his classmates.

  322. His sophomore year,

  323. he gathered a few of his classmates together

  324. and they created a systematic approach

  325. to engaging every student in his class

  326. so that they would know the good news of Jesus Christ.

  327. But he didn't live with the myopic view

  328. of just the ivory tower that he was in.

  329. For he also lived in New Haven

  330. when it was a great port city.

  331. And he saw the wreckage

  332. of the transient life of seafarers,

  333. of sailors.

  334. And so he started,

  335. he walked off of campus,

  336. down the street,

  337. and began a ministry,

  338. began reaching out

  339. to men whose lives were being destroyed

  340. by alcohol

  341. and transience.

  342. Transience.

  343. He started the Yale Hope Mission.

  344. And years later,

  345. when he died,

  346. as a young missionary in Egypt,

  347. there were testimonies

  348. that came from both

  349. the rich and powerful

  350. and the down and out,

  351. declaring how this man

  352. had lived his life

  353. to know Christ

  354. and to make him known

  355. in every circumstance in life.

  356. Some of you are students.

  357. Go read Borden of Yale.

  358. Go down to the bookstall.

  359. Get it.

  360. If you can't afford it,

  361. just steal it.

  362. No, really.

  363. You can have it for free.

  364. Go read about his life

  365. and consider why are you here.

  366. If you're a student

  367. at one of the other universities,

  368. go read it.

  369. It's still applicable.

  370. And you know what?

  371. If you're not a student,

  372. think about this.

  373. It may not be

  374. your classmates

  375. and your campus.

  376. It may be your workplace

  377. and your cubicle workers.

  378. It may be the other moms

  379. and the play date.

  380. It may be the friends

  381. you hang out with

  382. on Friday nights.

  383. Whatever your circumstances are,

  384. it may be the other ones

  385. It will be your neighbors

  386. for sure.

  387. Who do you live near?

  388. Wherever you are,

  389. this is what God

  390. has called you for.

  391. Friends,

  392. will you take up this mission?

  393. Will you figure out

  394. what your Rome is?

  395. Having seen then clearly

  396. what the mission of God is

  397. for Paul

  398. and then for us,

  399. probably some of you

  400. are thinking,

  401. how do I get there?

  402. What do I do?

  403. How do I?

  404. I can't do that.

  405. That's completely overwhelming.

  406. Well, friends,

  407. this is the good news

  408. of this passage.

  409. Because Paul

  410. was not only called

  411. on a mission by God

  412. as we are,

  413. but Paul saw God

  414. provide for him

  415. every step of the way

  416. and provided in surprising

  417. and a great variety of ways

  418. that some may be more common

  419. or less common

  420. but it's striking

  421. how broad and rich

  422. God's provision is

  423. for his people.

  424. These stories

  425. that we read this morning

  426. have a number of them.

  427. Let's look at a few of them quickly.

  428. The first one is that

  429. we see God displaying

  430. a supernatural power

  431. on behalf of Paul

  432. and his ministry.

  433. Right?

  434. This incredible scene

  435. with the viper.

  436. Right?

  437. Paul's,

  438. it's such an odd story,

  439. isn't it?

  440. I mean, really.

  441. You're just reading along

  442. and suddenly Paul's

  443. collecting wood

  444. and there's this viper

  445. and, you know,

  446. you read the commentaries

  447. and they're like,

  448. well, there aren't any

  449. vipers on Malta today

  450. so this must not be true.

  451. Well, you know what?

  452. 2,000 years,

  453. it's a small island

  454. with lots of people.

  455. They probably killed them all.

  456. It's not that hard.

  457. But the fact is,

  458. it seemed,

  459. as you read the narrative

  460. of verses 4 through 6,

  461. the natives saw the viper

  462. and they knew

  463. Paul had been bitten

  464. and he's going to die.

  465. Right?

  466. So they knew

  467. there were poisonous snakes

  468. on the island

  469. and they knew exactly

  470. how bad it was.

  471. And Luke doesn't even bother

  472. to explain it very much.

  473. He didn't say,

  474. and God shone a light

  475. upon Paul

  476. and there was a great

  477. display of light

  478. and angels.

  479. None of that.

  480. He just says,

  481. and Paul shook the snake

  482. into the fire

  483. and it burned up.

  484. And they all waited

  485. for him to die

  486. and he didn't.

  487. And the testimony

  488. to these natives,

  489. the word here,

  490. natives,

  491. it's so easy for that

  492. to have a pejorative sense.

  493. It originally just meant

  494. people who weren't

  495. Greek speaking.

  496. So that's all it means.

  497. The Maltese had their own

  498. culture and language

  499. and it was not like

  500. a barbaric

  501. or backwards society.

  502. But they did have

  503. their own beliefs

  504. and superstitions.

  505. And they believed,

  506. oh,

  507. the viper came out.

  508. Clearly our God

  509. is bringing justice

  510. on this unrighteous man.

  511. And God uses

  512. even that misunderstanding

  513. about the nature

  514. of the spiritual world

  515. and turns it on its head.

  516. And suddenly Paul

  517. is justified before them

  518. and his ministry

  519. is exalted.

  520. Now he still has to clarify

  521. just like he did

  522. in some other seasons

  523. in Acts.

  524. Look,

  525. I'm not a God

  526. but I serve the true

  527. and the living God

  528. who has delivered me

  529. today just as he's

  530. delivered me

  531. from so many other things

  532. so that I might tell you

  533. about Christ.

  534. And then

  535. he gets this

  536. great hospitality,

  537. walks into this man's house

  538. and his father-in-law

  539. is sick

  540. and he probably had

  541. something called

  542. Maltese fever

  543. which was a unique

  544. disease that was

  545. caused from the

  546. milk of goats

  547. on that island

  548. that was discovered

  549. in the 20th century

  550. and therefore eradicated

  551. but before then

  552. this bug got in

  553. and it killed people.

  554. Fever and dysentery

  555. were sort of descriptors

  556. of this thing

  557. that still existed

  558. for a long time

  559. after that.

  560. And Paul walks in

  561. and he prays

  562. and he's healed.

  563. And strikingly

  564. if you're a student

  565. of the big arc

  566. of the Luke-Acts narrative

  567. that Luke has written

  568. for us to know

  569. in Luke 4

  570. Jesus walks into

  571. Peter's house

  572. and heals

  573. Peter's mother-in-law.

  574. Here Paul walks in

  575. and heals

  576. another man's

  577. father.

  578. But they're strikingly

  579. different

  580. because Jesus

  581. comes in

  582. and he says

  583. I'm going to do this

  584. so that you will know

  585. who I am.

  586. But when Paul walks in

  587. he says

  588. I'm going to do this

  589. and I'm going to pray

  590. to God

  591. so that you know

  592. what kind of God

  593. I serve.

  594. And there's this

  595. striking distinction

  596. between those two things.

  597. And in the middle

  598. of what do we see?

  599. We see Paul

  600. we see God

  601. overturning

  602. the natural order

  603. of things.

  604. Poison usually kills.

  605. Maltese fever

  606. usually dies.

  607. And yet

  608. the God

  609. who Paul serves

  610. is a God

  611. who brings life.

  612. And the message

  613. that he brings

  614. is one of eternal life.

  615. And so

  616. these supernatural

  617. things happen

  618. so that Paul's

  619. message

  620. is vindicated

  621. and so that people

  622. will listen

  623. to him.

  624. Friends

  625. do we look

  626. for God

  627. to work

  628. in supernatural

  629. ways today?

  630. I think

  631. it's so easy

  632. for us

  633. to deny

  634. that he does

  635. this

  636. or to think

  637. well he doesn't

  638. do it on my

  639. timetable

  640. so I'm just

  641. not going to

  642. believe in that

  643. because I don't

  644. want to be

  645. disappointed.

  646. friends

  647. God

  648. has

  649. and God

  650. is doing

  651. works like

  652. this today

  653. to validate

  654. the ongoing

  655. spread of the

  656. mission

  657. the message

  658. of Jesus

  659. Christ

  660. and him

  661. crucified.

  662. God

  663. continues

  664. to do

  665. these things

  666. today

  667. in our

  668. world.

  669. But friends

  670. I also

  671. want us

  672. to make

  673. sure that

  674. we don't

  675. look

  676. for

  677. supernatural

  678. things

  679. only in

  680. these

  681. most

  682. overt

  683. and obvious

  684. ways.

  685. as I

  686. have

  687. thought

  688. about

  689. this

  690. friends

  691. is not

  692. forgiving

  693. someone

  694. who has

  695. deeply

  696. hurt

  697. you

  698. or

  699. resisting

  700. a

  701. temptation

  702. to

  703. fill

  704. the

  705. hungry

  706. hole

  707. in your

  708. heart

  709. with

  710. some

  711. worldly

  712. promise

  713. of

  714. fulfillment

  715. or

  716. simply

  717. acting

  718. kindly

  719. to

  720. someone

  721. where

  722. you

  723. will

  724. gain

  725. no

  726. benefit

  727. from

  728. it.

  729. Are

  730. these

  731. not

  732. also

  733. supernatural?

  734. Are

  735. these

  736. not

  737. also

  738. things

  739. that

  740. do

  741. not

  742. happen

  743. outside

  744. of

  745. the

  746. work

  747. of

  748. God

  749. in

  750. our

  751. lives?

  752. So

  753. friends

  754. let us

  755. not

  756. sit

  757. and

  758. wait

  759. for

  760. God

  761. to

  762. part

  763. the

  764. Red

  765. Sea

  766. when

  767. he

  768. actually

  769. simply

  770. wants

  771. to

  772. make

  773. us

  774. patient

  775. instead.

  776. Both

  777. of

  778. them

  779. are

  780. supernatural

  781. in

  782. God's

  783. work

  784. in

  785. our

  786. lives.

  787. And

  788. we

  789. need

  790. to

  791. embrace

  792. a

  793. broad

  794. view

  795. of

  796. how

  797. God

  798. works

  799. to

  800. help

  801. us.

  802. He

  803. comes

  804. alongside

  805. of

  806. us

  807. and

  808. enables

  809. us

  810. to

  811. do

  812. this.

  813. So

  814. we

  815. see

  816. God's

  817. supernatural

  818. work

  819. helping

  820. Paul

  821. and

  822. helping

  823. us

  824. in

  825. our

  826. mission.

  827. The

  828. second

  829. thing

  830. we

  831. see

  832. is

  833. the

  834. kindness

  835. of

  836. strangers.

  837. I

  838. love

  839. verse

  840. two.

  841. The

  842. native

  843. people

  844. showed

  845. us

  846. unusual

  847. kindness.

  848. The

  849. original

  850. actually

  851. reads

  852. showed

  853. us

  854. no

  855. small

  856. kindness

  857. which is

  858. a beautiful

  859. way of

  860. saying

  861. we were

  862. overwhelmed.

  863. It was

  864. abundant

  865. in the

  866. kindness.

  867. And

  868. remember

  869. where we

  870. started.

  871. These

  872. guys have

  873. just been

  874. shipwrecked

  875. on an

  876. unknown

  877. island.

  878. They

  879. might have

  880. expected

  881. bears

  882. and wolves

  883. or unhappy

  884. natives

  885. armed with

  886. spears

  887. and swords

  888. who want

  889. to imprison

  890. them,

  891. who want

  892. to attack

  893. them,

  894. who feel

  895. threatened

  896. by them.

  897. They

  898. might

  899. have

  900. expected

  901. all

  902. sorts

  903. of

  904. things.

  905. But

  906. they're

  907. with

  908. Paul

  909. and

  910. Paul's

  911. with

  912. God

  913. and

  914. God

  915. is

  916. watching

  917. over

  918. them.

  919. And

  920. so

  921. they

  922. have

  923. this

  924. incredible

  925. provision

  926. from

  927. the

  928. natives

  929. on

  930. the

  931. island

  932. and

  933. the

  934. head

  935. man,

  936. the

  937. most

  938. important

  939. person

  940. takes

  941. them

  942. in

  943. and

  944. welcomes

  945. them

  946. and

  947. treats

  948. them

  949. richly.

  950. And

  951. you

  952. see

  953. even

  954. at

  955. the

  956. end

  957. of

  958. that

  959. part

  960. of

  961. the

  962. story

  963. in

  964. verse

  965. 10.

  966. When

  967. we

  968. went

  969. to

  970. put

  971. out

  972. to

  973. sale,

  974. they

  975. gave

  976. us

  977. everything

  978. we

  979. needed.

  980. And

  981. friends,

  982. these

  983. aren't

  984. people

  985. who

  986. have

  987. believed

  988. in

  989. Jesus.

  990. These

  991. are

  992. not,

  993. this

  994. is

  995. not

  996. the

  997. church

  998. coming

  999. alongside.

  1000. These

  1001. are

  1002. people

  1003. who

  1004. still

  1005. believe

  1006. in

  1007. the

  1008. God

  1009. of

  1010. justice,

  1011. who

  1012. still

  1013. willingly

  1014. and

  1015. embrace

  1016. jumping

  1017. onto a

  1018. ship

  1019. with

  1020. the

  1021. twin gods

  1022. of

  1023. Castor

  1024. and

  1025. Pollux

  1026. on the

  1027. front,

  1028. believing

  1029. that

  1030. having

  1031. those

  1032. gods

  1033. on the

  1034. front

  1035. will

  1036. save

  1037. them

  1038. from

  1039. shipwreck.

  1040. The

  1041. people that

  1042. God used

  1043. to help

  1044. Paul and

  1045. to encourage

  1046. him

  1047. are not

  1048. the people

  1049. you might

  1050. have

  1051. expected.

  1052. And

  1053. yet,

  1054. God is

  1055. there.

  1056. God

  1057. has

  1058. provided

  1059. for

  1060. Paul

  1061. to

  1062. get

  1063. him

  1064. back

  1065. on

  1066. his

  1067. journey,

  1068. to

  1069. get

  1070. back

  1071. on

  1072. the

  1073. boat

  1074. through

  1075. the

  1076. kindness

  1077. of

  1078. strangers.

  1079. They

  1080. have

  1081. all

  1082. they

  1083. need

  1084. for

  1085. the

  1086. ship,

  1087. for

  1088. the

  1089. sail

  1090. ahead.

  1091. I

  1092. remember

  1093. after

  1094. my

  1095. freshman

  1096. year in

  1097. college,

  1098. I went

  1099. on a

  1100. missions

  1101. trip

  1102. to

  1103. India.

  1104. Some

  1105. friends,

  1106. some

  1107. friends'

  1108. parents

  1109. were leading

  1110. the

  1111. trip.

  1112. We

  1113. arrived

  1114. in

  1115. Delhi

  1116. at

  1117. 11

  1118. o'clock

  1119. at

  1120. night

  1121. expecting

  1122. to

  1123. connect

  1124. from

  1125. Delhi

  1126. to

  1127. fly

  1128. to

  1129. Bombay

  1130. where

  1131. we

  1132. were

  1133. then

  1134. going

  1135. to

  1136. be

  1137. met

  1138. by

  1139. people

  1140. we

  1141. had

  1142. never

  1143. seen

  1144. before

  1145. who

  1146. were

  1147. going

  1148. to

  1149. take

  1150. us

  1151. to

  1152. the

  1153. place

  1154. that

  1155. we

  1156. were

  1157. actually

  1158. going

  1159. to

  1160. settle

  1161. in

  1162. for

  1163. five

  1164. weeks

  1165. and

  1166. do

  1167. some

  1168. ministry

  1169. in

  1170. the

  1171. name

  1172. of

  1173. Jesus.

  1174. We

  1175. got

  1176. to

  1177. Delhi

  1178. and

  1179. the

  1180. plane

  1181. was

  1182. cancelled.

  1183. And

  1184. if

  1185. you've

  1186. ever

  1187. been

  1188. in

  1189. a

  1190. circumstance

  1191. like

  1192. this

  1193. it's

  1194. not

  1195. just

  1196. it

  1197. was

  1198. cancelled

  1199. and

  1200. there's

  1201. this

  1202. nice

  1203. person

  1204. who

  1205. speaks

  1206. perfect

  1207. English

  1208. who's

  1209. saying

  1210. and

  1211. we

  1212. would

  1213. like

  1214. to

  1215. take

  1216. care

  1217. of

  1218. you

  1219. and

  1220. help

  1221. you

  1222. rebook

  1223. your

  1224. flights

  1225. in

  1226. the

  1227. most

  1228. convenient

  1229. and

  1230. easy

  1231. way

  1232. so

  1233. that

  1234. you

  1235. can

  1236. get

  1237. to

  1238. your

  1239. destination

  1240. as

  1241. quickly

  1242. as

  1243. possible.

  1244. No

  1245. it

  1246. is

  1247. bewildering

  1248. and

  1249. confusing

  1250. and

  1251. you

  1252. think

  1253. how

  1254. in

  1255. the

  1256. world

  1257. do

  1258. I

  1259. get

  1260. from

  1261. where

  1262. I

  1263. am

  1264. now

  1265. to

  1266. where

  1267. I

  1268. need

  1269. to

  1270. be

  1271. in

  1272. a

  1273. timely

  1274. manner

  1275. and

  1276. we

  1277. had

  1278. no

  1279. idea

  1280. we

  1281. didn't

  1282. understand

  1283. the

  1284. systems

  1285. it

  1286. was

  1287. 1130

  1288. at

  1289. night

  1290. all

  1291. the

  1292. offices

  1293. were

  1294. closed

  1295. down

  1296. I

  1297. mean

  1298. we

  1299. we

  1300. slept

  1301. in

  1302. the

  1303. airport

  1304. that

  1305. night

  1306. which

  1307. was

  1308. a

  1309. lot

  1310. of

  1311. fun

  1312. but

  1313. you

  1314. know

  1315. what

  1316. happened

  1317. along

  1318. the

  1319. way

  1320. George

  1321. happened

  1322. that's

  1323. all

  1324. I

  1325. could

  1326. tell you

  1327. his

  1328. name

  1329. is

  1330. George

  1331. and

  1332. God

  1333. looked

  1334. at

  1335. us

  1336. he

  1337. walked

  1338. up

  1339. to

  1340. the

  1341. leaders

  1342. of

  1343. our

  1344. group

  1345. and

  1346. said

  1347. maybe

  1348. I

  1349. can

  1350. help

  1351. you

  1352. he

  1353. got

  1354. us

  1355. in

  1356. the

  1357. right

  1358. lines

  1359. he

  1360. got

  1361. us

  1362. he

  1363. did

  1364. the

  1365. negotiation

  1366. which

  1367. included

  1368. new

  1369. fees

  1370. and

  1371. things

  1372. like

  1373. that

  1374. he

  1375. got

  1376. us

  1377. our

  1378. plane

  1379. tickets

  1380. and

  1381. helped

  1382. us

  1383. get

  1384. on

  1385. the

  1386. plane

  1387. to

  1388. the

  1389. destination

  1390. the

  1391. next

  1392. morning

  1393. we

  1394. called

  1395. him

  1396. George

  1397. the

  1398. angel

  1399. there

  1400. was

  1401. no

  1402. reason

  1403. he

  1404. needed

  1405. to

  1406. take

  1407. care

  1408. of

  1409. us

  1410. except

  1411. the

  1412. kindness

  1413. of

  1414. strangers

  1415. by

  1416. which

  1417. God

  1418. helped

  1419. us

  1420. get

  1421. to

  1422. where

  1423. we

  1424. were

  1425. going

  1426. to

  1427. do

  1428. the

  1429. work

  1430. that

  1431. he

  1432. had

  1433. called

  1434. us

  1435. to

  1436. do

  1437. friends

  1438. when

  1439. you're

  1440. stuck

  1441. do

  1442. you

  1443. ask

  1444. God

  1445. to

  1446. help

  1447. when

  1448. you

  1449. hit

  1450. those

  1451. points

  1452. where

  1453. you

  1454. think

  1455. I

  1456. don't

  1457. know

  1458. what

  1459. to

  1460. do

  1461. do

  1462. you

  1463. start

  1464. looking

  1465. for

  1466. God

  1467. to

  1468. intervene

  1469. because

  1470. he

  1471. does

  1472. and

  1473. he

  1474. will

  1475. let

  1476. us

  1477. not

  1478. fall

  1479. into

  1480. our

  1481. self

  1482. reliance

  1483. I'm

  1484. going

  1485. to

  1486. fix

  1487. this

  1488. American

  1489. mode

  1490. but

  1491. let

  1492. us

  1493. live

  1494. instead

  1495. by

  1496. faith

  1497. believing

  1498. that

  1499. the

  1500. God

  1501. who

  1502. has

  1503. called

  1504. us

  1505. on

  1506. this

  1507. mission

  1508. will

  1509. also

  1510. provide

  1511. for

  1512. us

  1513. all

  1514. that

  1515. we

  1516. need

  1517. in

  1518. every

  1519. circumstance

  1520. to

  1521. do

  1522. what

  1523. he

  1524. has

  1525. called

  1526. us

  1527. to

  1528. do

  1529. and

  1530. then

  1531. finally

  1532. friends

  1533. when

  1534. you

  1535. look

  1536. at

  1537. verses

  1538. 11

  1539. through

  1540. 16

  1541. you

  1542. think

  1543. why

  1544. is

  1545. this

  1546. here

  1547. it's

  1548. just

  1549. like

  1550. a

  1551. little

  1552. travelog

  1553. and

  1554. then

  1555. we

  1556. went

  1557. to

  1558. here

  1559. and

  1560. then

  1561. we

  1562. went

  1563. to

  1564. here

  1565. and

  1566. finally

  1567. we

  1568. got

  1569. to

  1570. Rome

  1571. this

  1572. whole

  1573. section

  1574. could

  1575. have

  1576. just

  1577. said

  1578. and

  1579. then

  1580. we

  1581. sailed

  1582. to

  1583. Rome

  1584. and

  1585. then

  1586. we

  1587. be

  1588. done

  1589. right

  1590. but

  1591. what

  1592. is

  1593. it

  1594. in

  1595. this

  1596. last

  1597. section

  1598. that

  1599. we

  1600. see

  1601. the

  1602. encouragement

  1603. of

  1604. brothers

  1605. isn't

  1606. it

  1607. striking

  1608. not

  1609. only

  1610. the

  1611. kindness

  1612. of

  1613. strangers

  1614. who

  1615. don't

  1616. know

  1617. this

  1618. God

  1619. but

  1620. the

  1621. encouragement

  1622. of

  1623. brothers

  1624. they

  1625. came

  1626. from

  1627. Rome

  1628. they

  1629. traveled

  1630. out

  1631. of

  1632. the

  1633. city

  1634. into

  1635. the

  1636. province

  1637. of

  1638. Rome

  1639. which

  1640. is

  1641. why

  1642. you

  1643. see

  1644. it

  1645. in

  1646. verses

  1647. 14

  1648. and

  1649. 16

  1650. they

  1651. entered

  1652. into

  1653. the

  1654. province

  1655. and

  1656. then

  1657. they

  1658. were

  1659. headed

  1660. towards

  1661. Rome

  1662. and

  1663. these

  1664. brothers

  1665. came

  1666. out

  1667. and

  1668. do

  1669. you

  1670. see

  1671. Paul

  1672. do

  1673. you

  1674. see

  1675. what

  1676. he

  1677. says

  1678. verse

  1679. 14

  1680. 15

  1681. on

  1682. seeing

  1683. them

  1684. Paul

  1685. thanked

  1686. God

  1687. and

  1688. took

  1689. courage

  1690. he

  1691. knew

  1692. that

  1693. this

  1694. was

  1695. another

  1696. provision

  1697. from

  1698. the

  1699. Lord

  1700. these

  1701. brothers

  1702. have

  1703. come

  1704. to

  1705. encourage

  1706. us

  1707. as

  1708. we

  1709. finish

  1710. this

  1711. journey

  1712. and

  1713. he

  1714. was

  1715. strengthened

  1716. he

  1717. was

  1718. encouraged

  1719. by

  1720. it

  1721. friends

  1722. I

  1723. wonder

  1724. if

  1725. you

  1726. viewed

  1727. coming

  1728. to

  1729. church

  1730. this

  1731. morning

  1732. like

  1733. that

  1734. I

  1735. get

  1736. to

  1737. worship

  1738. with

  1739. brothers

  1740. and

  1741. sisters

  1742. what

  1743. an

  1744. incredible

  1745. gift

  1746. from

  1747. the

  1748. Lord

  1749. I

  1750. am

  1751. weary

  1752. I

  1753. am

  1754. tired

  1755. this

  1756. has

  1757. been

  1758. a

  1759. long

  1760. journey

  1761. I

  1762. need

  1763. my

  1764. brothers

  1765. and

  1766. sisters

  1767. to

  1768. remind

  1769. me

  1770. and

  1771. to

  1772. encourage

  1773. me

  1774. and

  1775. to

  1776. help

  1777. me

  1778. on

  1779. the

  1780. way

  1781. for

  1782. those

  1783. of

  1784. you

  1785. who

  1786. are

  1787. starting

  1788. your

  1789. year

  1790. at

  1791. the

  1792. university

  1793. I

  1794. implore

  1795. you

  1796. make

  1797. this

  1798. your

  1799. commitment

  1800. do

  1801. not

  1802. forsake

  1803. the

  1804. fellowship

  1805. of

  1806. believers

  1807. there

  1808. is

  1809. no

  1810. assignment

  1811. done

  1812. there

  1813. is

  1814. no

  1815. extracurricular

  1816. activity

  1817. that

  1818. is

  1819. worth

  1820. losing

  1821. the

  1822. fellowship

  1823. of

  1824. being

  1825. a

  1826. part

  1827. of

  1828. a

  1829. local

  1830. church

  1831. now

  1832. I'm

  1833. speaking

  1834. to

  1835. the

  1836. university

  1837. crowd

  1838. because

  1839. it's

  1840. the

  1841. beginning

  1842. of

  1843. school

  1844. year

  1845. but

  1846. friends

  1847. I

  1848. know

  1849. there

  1850. are

  1851. many

  1852. out

  1853. you

  1854. who

  1855. are

  1856. not

  1857. a

  1858. part

  1859. of

  1860. that

  1861. who

  1862. are

  1863. also

  1864. thinking

  1865. why

  1866. do

  1867. I

  1868. go

  1869. to

  1870. church

  1871. it's

  1872. so

  1873. hot

  1874. the

  1875. preacher

  1876. goes

  1877. on

  1878. so

  1879. long

  1880. why

  1881. am

  1882. I

  1883. here

  1884. seriously

  1885. I

  1886. just

  1887. come

  1888. in

  1889. I

  1890. go

  1891. out

  1892. is

  1893. this

  1894. really

  1895. what

  1896. I

  1897. want

  1898. friends

  1899. I

  1900. want

  1901. to

  1902. tell

  1903. you

  1904. as one

  1905. of the

  1906. primary

  1907. ways

  1908. for us

  1909. to pursue

  1910. the mission

  1911. that he's

  1912. called us

  1913. to

  1914. we

  1915. can't

  1916. do it

  1917. alone

  1918. we

  1919. truly

  1920. can't

  1921. I

  1922. can't

  1923. tell

  1924. you

  1925. how

  1926. much

  1927. being

  1928. here

  1929. was an

  1930. encouragement

  1931. to me

  1932. in the

  1933. weeks

  1934. and months

  1935. after

  1936. Brandy

  1937. went

  1938. to

  1939. be

  1940. with

  1941. the

  1942. Lord

  1943. in

  1944. January

  1945. I

  1946. needed

  1947. to

  1948. be

  1949. here

  1950. even

  1951. when

  1952. I

  1953. was

  1954. completely

  1955. overwhelmed

  1956. even

  1957. when

  1958. I

  1959. didn't

  1960. have

  1961. the

  1962. energy

  1963. to

  1964. stay

  1965. and

  1966. to

  1967. fellowship

  1968. and

  1969. to

  1970. interact

  1971. even

  1972. when

  1973. I

  1974. couldn't

  1975. sing

  1976. to

  1977. be

  1978. here

  1979. with

  1980. you

  1981. all

  1982. was

  1983. such

  1984. an

  1985. encouragement

  1986. to

  1987. me

  1988. and

  1989. I

  1990. needed

  1991. to

  1992. be

  1993. here

  1994. and

  1995. friends

  1996. I

  1997. will

  1998. say

  1999. that

  2000. part

  2001. of

  2002. the

  2003. reason

  2004. why

  2005. I

  2006. knew

  2007. I

  2008. needed

  2009. to

  2010. be

  2011. here

  2012. is

  2013. because

  2014. I

  2015. had

  2016. done

  2017. it

  2018. for

  2019. so

  2020. long

  2021. if

  2022. you

  2023. give

  2024. up

  2025. the

  2026. habit

  2027. now

  2028. when

  2029. the

  2030. storms

  2031. of

  2032. life

  2033. do

  2034. come

  2035. you

  2036. will

  2037. find

  2038. yourself

  2039. alone

  2040. and

  2041. adrift

  2042. so

  2043. now

  2044. make

  2045. it

  2046. a

  2047. commitment

  2048. make

  2049. it

  2050. a

  2051. priority

  2052. do

  2053. not

  2054. despise

  2055. this

  2056. gift

  2057. from

  2058. God

  2059. but

  2060. treasure

  2061. it

  2062. because

  2063. friends

  2064. the

  2065. God

  2066. who

  2067. has

  2068. called

  2069. us

  2070. on

  2071. this

  2072. mission

  2073. is

  2074. the

  2075. God

  2076. who

  2077. will

  2078. provide

  2079. for

  2080. us

  2081. because

  2082. this

  2083. is

  2084. the

  2085. very

  2086. nature

  2087. of

  2088. the

  2089. message

  2090. and

  2091. the

  2092. gospel

  2093. that

  2094. we

  2095. believe

  2096. God

  2097. has

  2098. called

  2099. us

  2100. on

  2101. a

  2102. mission

  2103. because

  2104. he

  2105. first

  2106. came

  2107. on

  2108. a

  2109. mission

  2110. for

  2111. us

  2112. Jesus

  2113. came

  2114. not

  2115. to

  2116. be

  2117. served

  2118. but

  2119. to

  2120. serve

  2121. and

  2122. to

  2123. give

  2124. his

  2125. life

  2126. he

  2127. came

  2128. to

  2129. give

  2130. himself

  2131. as

  2132. a

  2133. ransom

  2134. for

  2135. many

  2136. he

  2137. came

  2138. as

  2139. a

  2140. mission

  2141. not

  2142. to

  2143. do

  2144. his

  2145. own

  2146. will

  2147. but

  2148. to

  2149. do

  2150. the

  2151. will

  2152. of

  2153. his

  2154. father

  2155. who

  2156. had

  2157. sent

  2158. him

  2159. and

  2160. he

  2161. now

  2162. is

  2163. our

  2164. provision

  2165. friends

  2166. if you

  2167. think

  2168. God

  2169. has

  2170. abandoned

  2171. you

  2172. if

  2173. you

  2174. think

  2175. you

  2176. can't

  2177. do

  2178. it

  2179. go

  2180. back

  2181. to

  2182. the

  2183. very

  2184. beginning

  2185. go

  2186. back

  2187. to

  2188. the

  2189. very

  2190. heart

  2191. of

  2192. the

  2193. cross

  2194. Jesus

  2195. came

  2196. and

  2197. lived

  2198. a

  2199. perfect

  2200. life

  2201. that

  2202. we

  2203. could

  2204. not

  2205. live

  2206. so

  2207. that

  2208. he

  2209. might

  2210. offer

  2211. himself

  2212. up

  2213. as

  2214. a

  2215. perfect

  2216. sacrifice

  2217. to

  2218. take

  2219. the

  2220. penalty

  2221. for

  2222. the

  2223. sin

  2224. of

  2225. our

  2226. imperfect

  2227. lives

  2228. of

  2229. our

  2230. rebellion

  2231. of

  2232. our

  2233. casting

  2234. off

  2235. God

  2236. over

  2237. and

  2238. over

  2239. again

  2240. and

  2241. exalting

  2242. ourselves

  2243. to

  2244. the

  2245. center

  2246. of

  2247. our

  2248. lives

  2249. Jesus

  2250. is

  2251. the

  2252. perfect

  2253. provision

  2254. to

  2255. save

  2256. us

  2257. from

  2258. God's

  2259. wrath

  2260. against

  2261. our

  2262. sin

  2263. and

  2264. to

  2265. bring

  2266. us

  2267. into

  2268. a

  2269. new

  2270. life

  2271. and

  2272. a

  2273. new

  2274. relationship

  2275. with

  2276. him

  2277. and

  2278. in

  2279. Christ

  2280. all

  2281. the

  2282. other

  2283. things

  2284. in

  2285. our

  2286. lives

  2287. take

  2288. on

  2289. a

  2290. new

  2291. meaning

  2292. and

  2293. a

  2294. purpose

  2295. and

  2296. so

  2297. our

  2298. studies

  2299. and

  2300. our

  2301. relationships

  2302. and

  2303. our

  2304. children

  2305. and

  2306. our

  2307. work

  2308. and

  2309. our

  2310. play

  2311. and

  2312. our

  2313. rising

  2314. up

  2315. and

  2316. our

  2317. sleeping

  2318. all

  2319. of

  2320. these

  2321. things

  2322. become

  2323. renewed

  2324. with

  2325. a

  2326. purpose

  2327. to

  2328. bring

  2329. glory

  2330. to

  2331. God

  2332. and

  2333. they

  2334. are

  2335. endued

  2336. with

  2337. a

  2338. mission

  2339. that

  2340. in

  2341. all

  2342. of

  2343. these

  2344. things

  2345. we

  2346. have

  2347. an

  2348. opportunity

  2349. to

  2350. proclaim

  2351. the

  2352. excellencies

  2353. of

  2354. him

  2355. who

  2356. called

  2357. us

  2358. out

  2359. of

  2360. darkness

  2361. into

  2362. light

  2363. so

  2364. friends

  2365. thank

  2366. God

  2367. thank

  2368. God

  2369. for

  2370. this

  2371. great

  2372. provision

  2373. and

  2374. take

  2375. courage

  2376. let's

  2377. pray

  2378. Lord

  2379. we

  2380. praise

  2381. you

  2382. this

  2383. morning

  2384. for

  2385. you

  2386. have

  2387. provided

  2388. for

  2389. us

  2390. all

  2391. that

  2392. we

  2393. need

  2394. in

  2395. Christ

  2396. we

  2397. have

  2398. the

  2399. greatest

  2400. treasure

  2401. we

  2402. have

  2403. the

  2404. savior

  2405. that

  2406. we

  2407. didn't

  2408. even

  2409. know

  2410. that

  2411. we

  2412. needed

  2413. we

  2414. have

  2415. been

  2416. rescued

  2417. from

  2418. a

  2419. danger

  2420. that

  2421. we

  2422. so

  2423. want

  2424. to

  2425. deny

  2426. Jesus

  2427. we

  2428. praise

  2429. you

  2430. that

  2431. you

  2432. came

  2433. to

  2434. save

  2435. us

  2436. to

  2437. rescue

  2438. us

  2439. God

  2440. we

  2441. pray

  2442. I

  2443. pray

  2444. I

  2445. pray

  2446. for

  2447. us

  2448. as

  2449. a

  2450. church

  2451. that

  2452. we

  2453. would

  2454. embrace

  2455. your

  2456. call

  2457. of

  2458. mission

  2459. on

  2460. our

  2461. lives

  2462. and

  2463. Lord

  2464. as

  2465. we

  2466. begin

  2467. to

  2468. take

  2469. steps

  2470. to

  2471. live

  2472. that

  2473. out

  2474. in

  2475. the

  2476. coming

  2477. days

  2478. and

  2479. weeks

  2480. and

  2481. months

  2482. God

  2483. that

  2484. we

  2485. would

  2486. do

  2487. that

  2488. trusting

  2489. in

  2490. your

  2491. provision

  2492. knowing

  2493. that

  2494. you

  2495. are

  2496. with

  2497. us

  2498. Lord

  2499. knowing

  2500. that

  2501. the

  2502. cost

  2503. may

  2504. be

  2505. high

  2506. but

  2507. that

  2508. the

  2509. reward

  2510. is

  2511. great

  2512. we

  2513. thank

  2514. you

  2515. and we

  2516. praise

  2517. you

  2518. in

  2519. Jesus

  2520. name

  2521. amen
