  1. All right, I'm just going to make sure I'm not. Sir, we're getting a little bit started, a little bit late. Apologies for that technical difficulty.

  2. Can you hear me? No? Can everyone hear me? Okay. Good? All right. Can we just go ahead and pray?

  3. Dear Heavenly Father, we're so grateful that we can come before you together this morning as a church.

  4. To hear, listen to your word, and just really think about how we can proceed in this assignment which you've given to us.

  5. And we ask, Lord, that you humble us this morning, that you instruct us, that you deliver us from every pride.

  6. And Lord, give us clarity on how we can proceed in your work. We pray all this, Lord, in Christ's name. Amen.

  7. Amen. Amen. Sweet. So, is it? Yeah, I did. I did. Okay.

  8. So, I was told to come talk about personal evangelism here and now.

  9. And when I was told, I was just wondering, I was like, oh my goodness, of all the unqualified people, they would think about me.

  10. So, it's indeed a privilege to be before you here this morning just to talk about this topic of evangelism and what it means for us as a church.

  11. So, I just want to, this is kind of like my outline.

  12. What is evangelism? Why bother about it? Why should we care?

  13. Just some biblical principles to think about as we move forward.

  14. Some practical ways to approach personal evangelism.

  15. Personal evangelism, addressing the barriers to personal evangelism.

  16. I'm going to just spend some time praying, if that's okay.

  17. So, right away, let's just go ahead and define what evangelism really is.

  18. I feel like we need to, first of all, know what we're talking about before we can move forward.

  19. I'm not going to pretend that I know Greek. I do not know Greek.

  20. So, I looked up this Greek word.

  21. Apparently, it's from the Greek word whatever that is.

  22. I don't know what that is.

  23. But, that Greek word, which is the root of evangelism, means gospel or good news.

  24. And, in this context, personal evangelism means personally sharing with your friends or your neighbors the good news of Christ.

  25. So, I'm just going to just, we're just going to talk about, well, what does that look like?

  26. Why should we do that?

  27. Personally engaging our friends and neighbors in this gospel issue.

  28. So, why bother?

  29. And, I came up with this reason.

  30. No one can be neutral towards God.

  31. You're either for Him or against Him.

  32. Not us here as a church, but also everyone else in the world.

  33. Our friends at work, at school.

  34. You're either for Him or opposed to Him.

  35. I'm going to look at John 3, 17 and 18.

  36. And, to save us time, I just kind of like put all the verses here so we can just read together.

  37. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

  38. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned.

  39. But, whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

  40. So, we see two fates, two possibilities, not three.

  41. We see belief in Christ or we see the people who stand condemned.

  42. So, either you believe and if you don't, you stand condemned.

  43. There's no one who's neutral.

  44. And, it's a tendency for me personally sometimes to think about, maybe my friends, you know, they're not Christians, but they're really good people.

  45. And, they'll be okay.

  46. But, this passage tells us otherwise.

  47. That, if they're not in Christ, they will not be okay.

  48. They stand condemned.

  49. And, that's who we were before we came to know Jesus.

  50. We stood condemned.

  51. So, as much as we want to be loving and thinking about our friends as people who are not necessarily Christians, but good, that's not the case.

  52. Without Christ, they stand condemned.

  53. And, that's why it is a very important topic.

  54. It's a very important conversation to be had with them.

  55. Because, outside of Christ, again, they stand condemned.

  56. That's why we care.

  57. But, secondly, in addition to not being neutral, we have been commanded by our Lord to go about this.

  58. I like this passage because, obviously, it's one that everyone knows about, you know, evangelism.

  59. But, it highlights a couple of things that I want to draw our attention to.

  60. I'm going to read it.

  61. Matthew 28, 16 to 20.

  62. Now, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

  63. And, when they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted.

  64. And, Jesus came and said to them,

  65. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

  66. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,

  67. baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

  68. teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

  69. And, behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.

  70. Something that really draws my attention is verse 17, actually.

  71. It says,

  72. When they saw him, this is just after, you know, Christ had been crucified,

  73. he resurrected and he appeared to them.

  74. And, some believed and so some worshipped.

  75. But, some others doubted him.

  76. But, both to those who believed and worshipped and to those who doubted,

  77. he gave them this command.

  78. He didn't call the ones who worshipped aside.

  79. He said,

  80. You guys are strong believers.

  81. Go tell people about Jesus.

  82. Those who doubted, those who worshipped,

  83. all together, he sent them.

  84. And, there's a tendency for us to think,

  85. I'm not as solid.

  86. You know, I feel like I need to get more grounded as a believer

  87. before I can go tell people.

  88. I need to know things.

  89. But, to those who worshipped and to those who doubted,

  90. he sent them all together.

  91. And, he gave them this command to go and make disciples.

  92. It was not, what we see here was not a suggestion.

  93. What we see here was not based on any conditions.

  94. The only condition, he told them, he was like,

  95. You know what?

  96. I'm with you.

  97. Go do this.

  98. I'm in charge of everything.

  99. I'm in charge of all of the world.

  100. I'm in charge of all of creation.

  101. Because I am in charge.

  102. Go.

  103. In confidence.

  104. So, again, we see a clear command.

  105. Not a suggestion.

  106. Not an option.

  107. A clear command to everyone who calls him or herself a believer.

  108. To those who are solid.

  109. To those who are doubting.

  110. To those who are shaky.

  111. To those who are not even really, really sure.

  112. He sent all of them together to go.

  113. And, because of this command he gave to every believer.

  114. What we find is that this command is ingrained into our purpose here on earth.

  115. And, permit me to say that if we're not obeying or walking along in accordance with this command.

  116. We're not only in disobedience.

  117. But, we're probably risking purposelessness on earth.

  118. I want to draw attention to 2 Corinthians 5, 14-15 and also to verse 20.

  119. For the love of Christ controls us because we have concluded this.

  120. That one has died for all.

  121. And that's Jesus.

  122. Therefore, all have died.

  123. And he died for all.

  124. That those who live might no longer live for themselves.

  125. But for who for their sake died and was raised.

  126. He died so that while we live, we wouldn't have to live for ourselves.

  127. So, by virtue of his death, our life on earth now has a new purpose.

  128. Right?

  129. And it's now for the sake of the person who died.

  130. So, what is this purpose that is for the sake of the person who died?

  131. That we may be, in verse 20, ambassadors.

  132. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ.

  133. God making his appeal through us.

  134. And this is Paul saying, we implore you on behalf of Christ.

  135. Be reconciled to God so you can really live out this command of being an ambassador.

  136. And this, brethren, is the purpose of the Christian life.

  137. This is why after we came to Christ, God didn't call us right back to himself right away.

  138. He left us on earth so that we can live this out.

  139. He left us on earth so that this work of redemption can continue.

  140. He has done everything that needs to be done.

  141. He died on the cross.

  142. And that is our seal.

  143. Right?

  144. That is what we look at.

  145. And we're convinced that God is actively redeeming the world.

  146. But how does he actually make this happen?

  147. He works through us in making this happen.

  148. And this is the purpose of Christian living.

  149. Living for his glory.

  150. Living to be an ambassador.

  151. Living to exhibit his majesty in all of creation.

  152. And again, I'm going to repeat.

  153. It sounds a little bit too direct.

  154. But if we're not working with this in mind,

  155. we are risking purposelessness on earth.

  156. And it might be a wasted life.

  157. That's why we bother about this issue of evangelism.

  158. Now I want to bring our attention to some biblical principles.

  159. Just to guide our thinking.

  160. And the first one is that unbelief is much deeper than it seems.

  161. There's a tendency for us to see,

  162. oh, they don't believe in Jesus.

  163. Well, I can just talk to them and maybe they would.

  164. But I want to draw our attention to the gravity of unbelief.

  165. How deep it is.

  166. And it's this parable that actually,

  167. to me personally,

  168. it helps me see this very clearly.

  169. And I'm hoping it will help you guys see it as well.

  170. Before I just get to verse 22,

  171. I'm just going to give a little summary of the parable

  172. before we get to that passage.

  173. So there's this rich man who is very rich.

  174. And Lazarus, who is very, very, very poor.

  175. And the Bible tells us that every day Lazarus would be at his gates,

  176. you know, eating the crumbs

  177. and the dogs licking his wounds and his sores.

  178. So these are two different people,

  179. the rich man and Lazarus at his gate.

  180. And eventually they both die.

  181. So the poor man died

  182. and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.

  183. The rich man also died and was buried.

  184. And in Hades.

  185. Being in torment,

  186. he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off

  187. and Lazarus at his side.

  188. And the rich man called out,

  189. Father Abraham, have mercy on me

  190. and send Lazarus to dip

  191. the end of his finger in water

  192. and comb my tongue.

  193. For I'm in anguish

  194. and in this flame.

  195. But Abraham said,

  196. Child, remember that in your lifetime

  197. you received good things.

  198. Your good things.

  199. And Lazarus in like manner

  200. received bad things.

  201. But now he is comforted here

  202. and you are in anguish.

  203. And besides all this,

  204. between us and you,

  205. a great chasm has been fixed

  206. in order that those

  207. who would pass from here to you

  208. may not be able

  209. and none may cross from here to us.

  210. And he said,

  211. Then I beg you, Father,

  212. to send him to my father's house.

  213. This is the rich man saying,

  214. Abraham, please send Lazarus

  215. to my father's house.

  216. For I have five brothers

  217. so that he may want them

  218. lest they also come

  219. into this place of torment.

  220. But Abraham said,

  221. They have Moses and the prophets.

  222. Let them hear him.

  223. And he said,

  224. No, Father Abraham,

  225. but if someone goes to them

  226. from the dead,

  227. they will repent.

  228. Perhaps if they see someone

  229. who rose from the dead,

  230. they might be convinced

  231. and they will repent.

  232. And Abraham said to him,

  233. If they did not hear Moses

  234. and the prophets,

  235. neither would they be convinced

  236. if someone should rise from the dead.

  237. I don't know if you saw

  238. what I saw in this passage

  239. about unbelief.

  240. Abraham,

  241. the rich man is here saying,

  242. you know,

  243. maybe if you just send someone

  244. from the dead,

  245. give them all the evidence

  246. they need on earth,

  247. maybe, perhaps,

  248. they will repent.

  249. And Abraham tells him,

  250. No, not really.

  251. They have the prophets.

  252. They have Moses.

  253. They have all they need.

  254. They don't repent

  255. in the face of all of that evidence.

  256. They probably won't repent

  257. if they see a dead man

  258. rise from the grave.

  259. And what does that tell us?

  260. It tells us that

  261. it's not a matter of evidence.

  262. I don't know about your circles,

  263. but in my circles,

  264. I'm a scientist,

  265. and in my circles,

  266. it's all about the evidence.

  267. Well, what's the evidence?

  268. And there's a tendency for me

  269. to feel like I have to produce

  270. all this evidence.

  271. And even when I can produce

  272. enough evidence,

  273. boom,

  274. they will come to know Jesus.

  275. And here Abraham says,

  276. No, really.

  277. Even if someone

  278. comes from the dead,

  279. they probably will not believe.

  280. What does that tell us

  281. about unbelief?

  282. That is deeper

  283. than evidence.

  284. It's not about your ability

  285. to come up with

  286. a very, very convincing claim.

  287. If people are not believing,

  288. it's because of something deeper.

  289. And this passage draws us to

  290. what that thing is.

  291. 2 Corinthians 4 verse 4.

    2 Corinthians 4:4

  292. I'm just walking us through passages

  293. so we can see

  294. what the Bible says

  295. about this issue.

  296. 2 Corinthians 4 verse,

  297. For the God of this world

  298. has blinded their eyes.

  299. In their case,

  300. the God of this world

  301. has blinded the minds

  302. of the unbelievers

  303. to keep them from seeing

  304. the light of the gospel

  305. of the glory of Christ.

  306. So we see why

  307. just coming up with evidence

  308. is not enough.

  309. We'll not cut it.

  310. Here's why the God of this world,

  311. the enemy,

  312. has blinded their eyes.

  313. It's a spiritual issue.

  314. It is more spiritual

  315. than we think it is

  316. a lot of times.

  317. It is much deeper than that.

  318. So what does this mean for us?

  319. We dare not proceed

  320. trusting in our own strength

  321. because it's so deep.

  322. If a man is steeped in unbelief,

  323. it is so deep

  324. that we can't afford

  325. to move towards that

  326. in

  327. our own strength.

  328. It is,

  329. it's in fact,

  330. impossible.

  331. Right?

  332. So we dare not trust

  333. in our own strength

  334. because unbelief is so deep.

  335. We can't go about this

  336. just saying,

  337. you know what,

  338. I'm just going to just say things.

  339. So that's the one,

  340. that's another principle.

  341. The third principle

  342. I want to bring to our attention

  343. is

  344. when a person comes

  345. to believe in Jesus,

  346. it is a miracle.

  347. Because it's so deep,

  348. the spiritual blindness

  349. is not something physical.

  350. when that veil is in fact

  351. taken off

  352. of the eyes of people,

  353. we rejoice.

  354. Right?

  355. That's why the angels rejoice

  356. because it's a big deal

  357. that that veil

  358. will be taken off

  359. and people will believe.

  360. So what?

  361. It's a miracle.

  362. Now the fourth principle

  363. is the fact that

  364. God doesn't need us

  365. to do this.

  366. Right?

  367. He has chosen,

  368. but He has chosen to use us.

  369. Sorry about that typo.

  370. He has chosen to use us.

  371. And this in fact

  372. is a gift of God's grace.

  373. And I want to draw attention

  374. to Saul's conversion

  375. just to demonstrate this fact.

  376. Again, Saul persecuted

  377. a lot of Christians

  378. and eventually on his way

  379. to Damascus

  380. to persecute more Christians,

  381. what happened?

  382. In Acts 9,

  383. a very bright light

  384. from heaven

  385. struck him

  386. and he went blind.

  387. And God literally

  388. preached to Saul.

  389. What does this tell us?

  390. He doesn't need us.

  391. He could do

  392. what He wants to do

  393. with or without us.

  394. So we need not feel

  395. like this thing

  396. is dependent on us.

  397. He will save people

  398. if we choose to disobey.

  399. He can do that

  400. and He did that in Acts 9.

  401. He saved Saul.

  402. And we see what Saul

  403. did for the kingdom.

  404. He did not need

  405. any man.

  406. Now some men

  407. were used eventually

  408. but that initial

  409. conviction

  410. was God literally

  411. meeting Saul

  412. on his way to Damascus.

  413. So it's

  414. unbelief is deeper

  415. than it seems.

  416. We dare not proceed

  417. trusting our own strength

  418. because it's deep.

  419. And when a person

  420. believes in Jesus

  421. we rejoice

  422. because it's a miracle.

  423. And God doesn't need us

  424. but He has chosen

  425. to use us

  426. and it's

  427. ridiculous

  428. I think

  429. that He would choose

  430. to use me and you

  431. such weak

  432. and broken people

  433. to undertake

  434. such

  435. a profoundly

  436. spiritual task.

  437. it is a gift

  438. of grace

  439. and we don't take it

  440. for granted

  441. we pursue it.

  442. Now practical ways

  443. to approach

  444. personal evangelism.

  445. It's easy to think about

  446. well okay

  447. now

  448. I know

  449. it's important

  450. why bother

  451. while it's important

  452. we need to like

  453. do this.

  454. What are some ways

  455. to think about this?

  456. How can we do it?

  457. And I want to draw

  458. attention to just

  459. one

  460. task

  461. we have

  462. because there's so many

  463. things to think about

  464. and it's easy to get

  465. overwhelmed

  466. well like

  467. there's just a lot of pieces

  468. but only one thing

  469. is required of us

  470. in this issue

  471. of personal evangelism

  472. and it's that we share

  473. and what does that mean?

  474. We open our mouths

  475. and talk

  476. that is the only thing

  477. required of us

  478. now what happens

  479. after then

  480. might not necessarily

  481. be

  482. our duties

  483. in terms of like

  484. how

  485. the word we share

  486. convicts them

  487. into righteousness

  488. or to truth

  489. our one job

  490. is to share

  491. and I think about

  492. that passage in scripture

  493. where it talks about

  494. the farmer

  495. the farmer goes out

  496. in the morning

  497. plants his seeds

  498. and he goes to bed

  499. right?

  500. He's not worried about

  501. we the scientists

  502. we think about

  503. well what happens

  504. when that seed

  505. is in the soil

  506. and like

  507. the different things

  508. that need to come together

  509. for that seed

  510. to germinate

  511. and like be a fruit

  512. but the farmer

  513. is not

  514. he's probably not educated

  515. he's like

  516. I'm just going to

  517. plant that thing

  518. and go to bed

  519. and that's the attitude

  520. we're called

  521. to have

  522. in this issue

  523. of evangelism

  524. we just talk

  525. and we go to bed

  526. literally

  527. we talk

  528. and we trust God

  529. to use our speech

  530. right?

  531. God takes a seed

  532. and the next day

  533. some sort of fruit

  534. comes out

  535. the farmer has

  536. no idea

  537. how that happens

  538. and we

  539. have no idea

  540. how that is going to happen

  541. well he's got

  542. the farmer

  543. has to wake up though

  544. and plant that seed

  545. and that's what

  546. we're called to do

  547. that is the one job

  548. we have to share

  549. now

  550. there's just some points

  551. I just try to note

  552. and these are things

  553. that have helped

  554. me even thinking about

  555. this thing

  556. this idea of

  557. occupying all streets

  558. I know this is like

  559. an Occupy Wall Street

  560. but that's like

  561. not as

  562. fancy as this

  563. Occupy Wall Street

  564. well what does that mean?

  565. each of us here

  566. we're all on

  567. different streets

  568. some are students

  569. some just have

  570. regular jobs

  571. some are

  572. some are stay at home moms

  573. some are professors

  574. we're all on

  575. different streets

  576. that God has like

  577. put us

  578. right now

  579. and it's important

  580. that we think about

  581. well what does that

  582. what does evangelism

  583. mean for me

  584. on my street

  585. right now?

  586. I'm in medical school

  587. right now

  588. what does that look like

  589. for me

  590. in medical school

  591. interacting with my friends

  592. my classmates

  593. my professors

  594. what does that look like

  595. for me?

  596. and we have to take

  597. that's such an important step

  598. that we take

  599. a step back

  600. and figure out

  601. well what does that

  602. mean for me?

  603. well I'm not a pastor

  604. yes

  605. and that is good

  606. because God's

  607. glory

  608. has to reach

  609. it has to seep

  610. into every facet

  611. of life

  612. right?

  613. God's glory

  614. has to literally

  615. seep into

  616. every facet of life

  617. and that's why

  618. we can't all be pastors

  619. right?

  620. some people

  621. in the engineering field

  622. have to hear the gospel

  623. some people

  624. I've heard one pastor

  625. actually say

  626. we are all pastors

  627. we all are

  628. we all minister

  629. exactly

  630. but when I say pastor

  631. I don't mean like

  632. in the sense of having

  633. a church

  634. that we pastor

  635. I'm sorry about that

  636. I needed to clarify

  637. yeah we're all pastors

  638. we're all missionaries

  639. right?

  640. in a sense

  641. and that is our

  642. primary calling

  643. and what does

  644. being a missionary

  645. as an engineer

  646. look like?

  647. what does being a missionary

  648. as a medical doctor

  649. look like?

  650. and we all have to

  651. work that out

  652. secondly

  653. we need to establish

  654. relationships with people

  655. and this is such

  656. an important piece

  657. that I feel like

  658. it's often forgotten

  659. and it's just like

  660. very very cliche

  661. I hate saying this thing

  662. but I might have to say it

  663. because I feel like

  664. it passes a very

  665. important message

  666. the fact that people

  667. don't know how much

  668. you know

  669. people don't care

  670. how much you know

  671. until they know

  672. how much you care

  673. it's not biblical

  674. but it's kind of true

  675. bees and lived experience

  676. they don't want to

  677. really know how much

  678. they don't care

  679. how much you know

  680. until they know

  681. that you actually care

  682. and that's why

  683. this relationship aspect

  684. is very important

  685. and that's why

  686. before even proclaiming

  687. this gospel to them

  688. we have to demonstrate

  689. that we actually love them

  690. so we don't just

  691. have this assignment

  692. and we just go about

  693. saying this thing

  694. but the gospel

  695. is lived out

  696. right

  697. it's lived out

  698. and it's proclaimed

  699. so if you're proclaiming it

  700. and not living it out

  701. we have to think about that

  702. right

  703. so like

  704. how can we

  705. establish relationships

  706. with people

  707. right

  708. and engage them

  709. in this conversation

  710. right

  711. so relationships

  712. and the good news

  713. is that

  714. we all have people

  715. we're connected with

  716. in one way or the other

  717. right

  718. there's nobody

  719. who's hopefully

  720. not connected to anybody

  721. right

  722. we all have relationships

  723. and

  724. and that's what's cool

  725. about personal evangelism

  726. and that's why

  727. I'm really glad

  728. that in this series

  729. of global missions

  730. we're starting with this

  731. because

  732. if you go

  733. to a different country

  734. you might have to learn

  735. the language

  736. right

  737. you have to like

  738. establish new

  739. and fresh relationships

  740. but right now

  741. you all have people

  742. who you work with

  743. you have neighbors

  744. who you talk with

  745. you have co-workers

  746. right

  747. and these are all

  748. existing relationships

  749. so now we think about

  750. how can we

  751. take advantage

  752. of this

  753. relationships

  754. that are already existing

  755. these people who already know

  756. that we care about them

  757. how can we go even deeper

  758. in these relationships

  759. so we establish relationships

  760. and thirdly

  761. this idea of active engagement

  762. and I've heard a lot of people

  763. say well

  764. you know

  765. I won't really bring it up

  766. until like it comes up

  767. it's going to come up naturally

  768. the conversation is going to come up

  769. and often times

  770. it won't

  771. you know why

  772. it's an awkward conversation

  773. to have

  774. so no one is going to

  775. bring it up

  776. and say well

  777. you tell me what you think

  778. I want to know

  779. sometimes now

  780. sometimes

  781. people bring it up

  782. and they ask you just

  783. randomly

  784. like

  785. Kelechi

  786. like tell me about the gospel

  787. that has happened like

  788. once

  789. or twice

  790. in my life

  791. and I'm 24

  792. which is not that old

  793. but

  794. but

  795. yes

  796. that could happen

  797. and God is good

  798. and God is gracious

  799. and God might be working

  800. behind the scenes

  801. and cause them

  802. to ask you that question

  803. but sometimes

  804. a lot of times

  805. most times

  806. they won't

  807. right

  808. so what do we do

  809. we bring it up

  810. right

  811. we

  812. we

  813. we become active about it

  814. we

  815. we push it

  816. that sounds bad

  817. because

  818. I know Americans

  819. don't like to push

  820. like we just like

  821. you know just do your thing

  822. I'm doing my thing

  823. and just we'll be cool

  824. but no no no

  825. because there's so much

  826. at stake

  827. we

  828. move

  829. we

  830. initiate

  831. so active

  832. engagement

  833. I like to think about it

  834. one conversation at a time

  835. I grew up in Nigeria

  836. and

  837. what is big in Nigeria

  838. is soccer

  839. football

  840. we call it football

  841. you guys call something else football

  842. I don't know what that is

  843. but we call soccer football

  844. and when we play football

  845. in Nigeria

  846. you have the goalie

  847. you have the defenders

  848. you have the midfielders

  849. you have the strikers

  850. right

  851. the job

  852. is for

  853. the defenders

  854. to take that ball

  855. to the net

  856. now that ball

  857. has to go

  858. through the defenders

  859. to the midfielders

  860. to the strikers

  861. and the strikers strike

  862. that's why they call it strikers

  863. they strike into the net

  864. of the other team

  865. but why the defender's role

  866. is so important

  867. is that they initiate

  868. that pass

  869. right

  870. that first pass

  871. they pass it

  872. and pass

  873. by pass

  874. pass

  875. by pass

  876. somehow

  877. after many minutes

  878. sometimes

  879. after 90 minutes

  880. right

  881. hopefully

  882. the ball gets there

  883. but sometimes

  884. it might take 90 minutes

  885. sometimes it might take 5 minutes

  886. sometimes it takes 2 minutes

  887. sometimes seconds

  888. but often times

  889. it takes longer

  890. and that's the same thing

  891. we're dealing with here

  892. one conversation

  893. at a time

  894. one conversation

  895. at a time

  896. and we pass it on

  897. right

  898. I've had friends

  899. in school

  900. that I've been chatting with

  901. so engaging them

  902. on this topic

  903. and they're like

  904. yeah

  905. 3 years ago

  906. in college

  907. my roommate

  908. brought that up

  909. and we had a conversation

  910. about it

  911. and I'm like

  912. thank God

  913. for that roommate

  914. he's passed the ball

  915. to me

  916. now I have to be faithful

  917. I have to bring it up

  918. thank God

  919. I brought it up

  920. and who knows

  921. 5 years from now

  922. when he becomes a resident

  923. hopefully another resident

  924. will be faithful

  925. and bring it up

  926. and eventually

  927. hopefully

  928. maybe 10 years

  929. that ball

  930. will get to the net

  931. so what do we do

  932. we advance

  933. one conversation

  934. at a time

  935. what would it look like

  936. if every one of us here

  937. is faithful to that

  938. what would it look like

  939. if the

  940. however many Christians

  941. 1 billion

  942. I don't know

  943. what would it look like

  944. if that

  945. the millions of Christians

  946. who are on the earth

  947. are faithful to that

  948. are saying

  949. you know what

  950. I'm going to be faithful

  951. to this

  952. and bring it up

  953. wherever I go

  954. and every Christian

  955. all around the world

  956. is passing the ball

  957. right

  958. and your co-worker

  959. who starts work tomorrow

  960. with you

  961. you bring it up

  962. and hopefully

  963. his previous co-worker

  964. brought it up

  965. and as he moves through life

  966. different believers

  967. are bringing it up to him

  968. how amazing would that be

  969. one conversation

  970. at a time

  971. and I brought this up

  972. because

  973. sometimes it takes years

  974. sometimes

  975. you don't even see the fruit

  976. sometimes the defenders

  977. are out here being distracted

  978. and the strikers

  979. go and scar

  980. and they're like

  981. oh wow

  982. that's true

  983. that was the pass I made

  984. you know

  985. sometimes it might not happen

  986. in our lifetime

  987. and that's the patience

  988. required

  989. in personal evangelism

  990. so you might have to

  991. bring it up in conversations

  992. and one approach

  993. I found helpful

  994. is asking questions

  995. personally

  996. because you might

  997. wonder

  998. well how do I bring it up

  999. what do I even start

  1000. I don't even know

  1001. what

1002. what can I even say

1003. and I like asking questions

1004. sometimes out of the blue

  1005. like

  1006. hey man

  1007. what

  1008. you know

  1009. how did you

  1010. I mean

1011. what did you grow up

  1012. did you like

1013. grow up going to church

  1014. or not really

  1015. and you probably say

  1016. not really

  1017. like oh

  1018. why was that

  1019. and you probably

  1020. give some response

  1021. and you ask

  1022. why

1023. and you keep asking why

  1024. and you keep talking

1025. I mean it sounds simplified

  1026. but it works

1027. because when you ask why

  1028. there's a genuine interest

  1029. in like

  1030. finding out why

1031. and when you ask these questions

  1032. you listen

  1033. again this is not

  1034. the bible right

  1035. this is just

  1036. a personal approach

  1037. that I've used

  1038. and obviously

1039. it could work in different ways

1040. but this is one way

1041. that has really helped me

  1042. in my journey

1043. just asking all these questions

  1044. and listening to learn

  1045. listening in a way

  1046. just starting to see

  1047. like you care about

1048. what your life look like

1049. and then what I found

  1050. is that

1051. after talking for a while

  1052. people get tired

  1053. of talking about themselves

  1054. a little bit

  1055. sometimes

  1056. and

  1057. they want to hear

  1058. you talk about yourself

1059. and so they ask you

  1060. well what about you

  1061. and then you like

  1062. take your time

  1063. and you smile

1064. are you sure you want to know

  1065. and then you share

  1066. well that's

  1067. a little bit simplified

1068. but that just gives an idea

  1069. of how

  1070. just one approach

1071. asking a lot of questions

  1072. with a genuine interest

  1073. to know and learn

  1074. about these people

  1075. and then over time

  1076. who knows

  1077. perhaps

  1078. because you've asked them

  1079. so many questions

1080. and they've talked about themselves

  1081. perhaps they would listen

1082. to you talk about yourself

  1083. they'll listen to you

1084. talk about what gives you

  1085. hope and fulfillment

  1086. and these questions

1087. could come in different shapes

  1088. and sizes and forms

  1089. but thinking actively

  1090. I challenge you

1091. as you move to work tomorrow

  1092. just thinking

  1093. how can I

  1094. just bring this up

  1095. using work

  1096. how can I like

  1097. bring this up

  1098. in what way

  1099. everyday thinking about that

  1100. like

1101. how can I do this

1102. and also praying about it

  1103. like God

  1104. can you just open

  1105. let me see

1106. let me see a way

1107. in which I can bring this

  1108. to the table

  1109. this conversation

1110. and I found that God

  1111. is faithful

  1112. in answering that prayer

  1113. especially

  1114. about creating room

  1115. for us to see

1116. how we can engage people

1117. or if you have a home

1118. you can invite people over

  1119. maybe step out

  1120. of your comfort zone

1121. maybe you're the kind of person

1122. who likes to have people

  1123. in your space

  1124. maybe

1125. maybe you could try that

  1126. have people over

  1127. at your home

  1128. cook something for them

1129. and just talk to them

1130. and get to know them

  1131. now addressing some barriers

  1132. to personal evangelism

  1133. I have to move

  1134. because we have like

  1135. five minutes to go

1136. but this is like the end

1137. now there are a couple of

1138. things that we think about

1139. that kind of hinder us

  1140. like I don't want to be

  1141. that person

  1142. I don't want to be

1143. I don't want to be that weird

1144. like that's just weird man

1145. and people start avoiding you

  1146. and stuff like that

  1147. and I'm sorry

1148. you might have to be

  1149. that weird person

  1150. you probably will be

  1151. that weird person

  1152. and that's fine

  1153. you know

  1154. I remember reading

  1155. when I became a believer

  1156. and it was like

1157. the scariest article I read

  1158. and you know

  1159. he was like

  1160. the moment you become

  1161. a Christian

1162. you give up your rights

  1163. to be cool

  1164. that was like

  1165. the first sentence

  1166. in that like

  1167. in that article

  1168. I was like

  1169. oh my god

1170. what did I just get into

1171. and that is just truth

  1172. because if we're

  1173. really trying

  1174. not to be weird

  1175. I'm sorry

  1176. we'll miss the point

  1177. and we'll just

  1178. waste our lives

  1179. and

  1180. we are following

  1181. a lot of people

  1182. who are weird

  1183. Jesus was strange

1184. and he said some things

  1185. and like

  1186. hundreds of people

  1187. just walked away

  1188. like this dude

  1189. is crazy

  1190. eat my flesh

  1191. and drink my blood

  1192. and they walked away

  1193. like this dude

  1194. is weird

  1195. and

  1196. that is

  1197. the person

  1198. we're following

  1199. right

1200. it is going to be weird

  1201. what's one second

1202. I'm just going to round up

  1203. and then we'll go

  1204. have some questions

  1205. you can see

  1206. I'm still a struggling Christian

  1207. and I brought up

  1208. that passage right

  1209. earlier

  1210. about the people

  1211. who doubted

  1212. who were struggling

  1213. and he still

  1214. sends them

  1215. so it doesn't matter

  1216. you're struggling

  1217. you're saying

  1218. yeah we're all struggling

1219. in fact if you think

  1220. you're not struggling

  1221. then

  1222. I don't know

  1223. we're all struggling

  1224. and that's just truth

  1225. I don't know

  1226. what to say

  1227. and this is like

  1228. a very important one

  1229. I give some suggestions

  1230. right

  1231. asking questions

  1232. like

  1233. what do you think

  1234. you know

1235. hey what do you think

  1236. about that

1237. hey what gives you hope

  1238. in life

  1239. hey what's

  1240. what gives you purpose

  1241. and as the answer

  1242. you just go deeper

  1243. press into that

  1244. well why

  1245. and ask many more

  1246. why questions

  1247. many more wondering questions

  1248. like you know

  1249. I'm just wondering

1250. I see you do this

1251. why do you do that

  1252. why are you so

  1253. scared

1254. why are you so anxious

  1255. just asking why

  1256. and that really

  1257. unpacks what people think

  1258. and sometimes

  1259. we're just afraid

  1260. of having these conversations

  1261. because we don't know

1262. what they're going to say

  1263. but people just

  1264. answer

  1265. and you keep asking

  1266. and over time

  1267. hopefully

  1268. by them answering

  1269. they've told you

  1270. a lot about themselves

  1271. they've let you

  1272. into your lives

1273. and you can let them

  1274. into yours as well

1275. now I want to bring

  1276. still on this conversation

  1277. I don't know what to say

1278. I want us to consider

  1279. Apostle Paul

  1280. now Apostle Paul

  1281. was something similar

1282. to an attorney in his day

  1283. very eloquent

  1284. but

  1285. he brings this up

  1286. now the Corinthians

  1287. from what I read

1288. did a little bit of research

  1289. on these people

  1290. people would travel

  1291. to Corinth

  1292. these professional orators

  1293. they would go

1294. and have all these speeches

  1295. and people would pay

  1296. to go listen

  1297. to these orators

  1298. so the Corinthians

  1299. were I guess

1300. known to love this thing

  1301. this eloquence

  1302. and all that

1303. but here's what Paul says

  1304. Paul says

  1305. and I

1306. when I came to you brothers

  1307. I did not come

  1308. proclaiming to you

  1309. the testimony of God

  1310. with lofty speech

  1311. or wisdom

1312. for I decided to know

  1313. nothing among you

  1314. except Jesus Christ

  1315. and him crucified

1316. and I was with you

  1317. in weakness

  1318. and in fear

  1319. and much trembling

  1320. this is Paul

  1321. saying this

  1322. right

  1323. and my speech

  1324. and my message

  1325. were not implausible

  1326. words of wisdom

  1327. but in demonstration

  1328. of the spirit

  1329. and of power

  1330. so that your faith

  1331. might not rest

1332. in the wisdom of man

1333. but in the power of God

1334. and Paul is here saying

  1335. guys

  1336. when I came

  1337. I didn't have all the words

  1338. I wish I did

  1339. but I intentionally

  1340. I just

  1341. I didn't have it

  1342. but I proclaimed

  1343. one thing to you

  1344. Jesus

  1345. and him

  1346. crucified

  1347. and I didn't want to

  1348. talk about anything

  1349. I didn't want to talk about

  1350. much else

  1351. and here's why

  1352. so that when you

  1353. eventually believe

  1354. it won't be that

  1355. Paul's eloquence

  1356. brought you to faith

  1357. right

  1358. so that your faith

  1359. will be

  1360. purely

  1361. on Jesus

  1362. and that's why

  1363. worrying so much

  1364. about well

1365. how can I put this

  1366. in this eloquent way

  1367. doesn't really help

  1368. what do we do

  1369. we just proclaim

  1370. Jesus

  1371. it's a simple message

  1372. we're all broken

  1373. we're all messed up

  1374. God really loves us

1375. and he wants to fix this

1376. and how does he fix this

  1377. he changes us

  1378. one by one

  1379. that is the gospel

  1380. he died

  1381. so that the consequences

  1382. of our foolishness

  1383. will come upon us

  1384. and he took that

  1385. upon himself

  1386. so that we

  1387. will live for him

  1388. that's the gospel

  1389. and Paul said

1390. when I came to you

  1391. I didn't have to

  1392. I didn't really need

  1393. to come up with

  1394. all this

  1395. you know

  1396. super logical

  1397. and eloquent things

  1398. I just

  1399. proclaimed Jesus

  1400. and him crucified

  1401. and that's what

1402. he calls us to do today

  1403. again

  1404. I don't know what to say

  1405. consider what Paul said

  1406. Jesus and him crucified

  1407. start there

  1408. and over time

  1409. we'll work with you

  1410. I don't want to be rejected

  1411. again

  1412. the person we're following

  1413. was rejected

  1414. in fact

  1415. killed

  1416. I don't think we're at that point

  1417. where we're getting killed

  1418. yet

1419. but this is who we're following

  1420. because he was rejected

  1421. there's a decent chance

  1422. we will be

1423. and we need to embrace that

  1424. and move forward

  1425. and find hope

  1426. and faith

1427. and the fact that he

  1428. who matters most

  1429. has accepted us

  1430. right

  1431. right

  1432. so we cling

  1433. and that's why it's important

  1434. to cling to him

  1435. so tightly

1436. so that when we're rejected

  1437. we have something

  1438. to latch into

  1439. the love of Christ

  1440. so action steps

  1441. what do we do

  1442. we pray

  1443. we think about people

  1444. in our lives

  1445. we pray for them

  1446. we spend time

  1447. praying for them

  1448. I encourage you

  1449. before you even have

  1450. the conversation

  1451. pray for them

  1452. take two minutes

  1453. take one minute

  1454. pray for them

  1455. pray that their hearts

1456. will be open to it

  1457. pray that their hearts

  1458. will be broken

  1459. pray

  1460. and then

  1461. you know what

  1462. just go

  1463. literally

  1464. literally

  1465. just go

1466. and I want to end

  1467. with this story

  1468. it's my senior year

  1469. in college

  1470. and

  1471. I

  1472. it was spring

1473. I was going to graduate

  1474. in May

  1475. May 2015

  1476. so it was spring

  1477. this was January 2015

  1478. it was a Friday

  1479. I got a text

  1480. from my friend

  1481. I didn't see the text

1482. but the text came in

  1483. on Friday night

  1484. it was like

  1485. yo Kelechi

  1486. let's hang out

  1487. tomorrow

  1488. please tell me

  1489. you're on campus

  1490. let's hang out tomorrow

  1491. that's the way

  1492. your text was

  1493. literally

  1494. please tell me

  1495. you're on campus

  1496. let's hang out tomorrow

  1497. I didn't see the text

  1498. Friday

  1499. but I saw it

  1500. Saturday morning

  1501. Saturday morning

  1502. I saw it

  1503. I'm like

  1504. oh yeah sure

  1505. let's hang out

  1506. later tonight

  1507. and

  1508. so I came back

1509. at like 3pm that day

1510. and I got an email

  1511. you know

  1512. from the

  1513. school's president

  1514. you know

  1515. and you know

  1516. usually if someone

  1517. passes away

  1518. we get an email

  1519. you know

  1520. oh

  1521. you know

  1522. we regret to announce

1523. the death of this person

  1524. and

  1525. and so that name

  1526. was my friend's name

  1527. the person

  1528. whom I just texted

  1529. that morning

  1530. right

  1531. so apparently

  1532. he was killed

  1533. by a car

  1534. at 4.30am

  1535. Saturday morning

  1536. he sent a message

  1537. at 8pm

  1538. he was killed

  1539. 4.30am

  1540. and I sent a message

  1541. at 9am

  1542. and I responded

  1543. not knowing

  1544. what had happened

  1545. and he was gone

  1546. but

  1547. the hope I had

  1548. was that

  1549. he came to know

  1550. the Lord

  1551. you know

  1552. the summer before

  1553. however

  1554. I was just thinking

  1555. this guy's here today

  1556. and he texts me

  1557. and he dies

  1558. like

  1559. 5 hours

  1560. however many hours later

  1561. and I'm thinking about

  1562. wow

1563. we don't have as much time

1564. as we think we do

1565. and I began to think about

1566. a lot of my friends

  1567. in college

  1568. whom I'd never

  1569. ever engaged with

  1570. and I was wondering

  1571. like can I really

  1572. can I really say

  1573. I love these people

  1574. and the one thing

  1575. I claim to believe

  1576. they need

  1577. I don't tell them

  1578. about it

  1579. it's either

  1580. I don't really

  1581. love them

  1582. or I don't really

  1583. believe they need

  1584. this thing

  1585. either

  1586. I didn't

  1587. I don't

  1588. like literally

  1589. there was no other

  1590. explanation I could

  1591. come up with

  1592. either I don't

  1593. love them

  1594. or I don't think

  1595. they need

  1596. the gospel

  1597. in other words

  1598. they'll be fine

  1599. without it

  1600. and so

  1601. that just really

  1602. challenged me

  1603. in college

  1604. I had a job

  1605. in Boston

  1606. and I just

  1607. called them up

  1608. I'm like yo

  1609. I can't

  1610. I can't come

  1611. I have to

  1612. just stay

  1613. back in campus

  1614. and hang out

  1615. with my friends

  1616. and so

  1617. for a full year

  1618. I worked

  1619. as a campus

  1620. missionary

  1621. but that's not

  1622. what we're called

  1623. to do

  1624. but the reason

  1625. why I shared

  1626. that story

  1627. is for you

  1628. to think about

  1629. the fact

  1630. that your

  1631. co-worker

  1632. or your

  1633. classmate

  1634. tomorrow

  1635. might in fact

  1636. be gone

  1637. by Tuesday

  1638. and I'm not

  1639. saying this

  1640. to scare anyone

  1641. but I'm saying

  1642. this to

  1643. just proclaim

  1644. reality

  1645. but the life

  1646. we live

  1647. is very brief

  1648. last night

  1649. before I went

  1650. to bed

  1651. I looked up

  1652. a message

  1653. from my friend

  1654. that a

  1655. classmate

  1656. of ours

  1657. passed away

  1658. on the

  1659. first of

  1660. November

  1661. and I'm just

  1662. thinking about

  1663. I wonder

  1664. I wonder

  1665. if his

  1666. friends

  1667. shared this

  1668. thing with him

  1669. before he

  1670. passed away

  1671. he went to

  1672. eat

  1673. and

  1674. he complained

  1675. of stomach

  1676. upset

  1677. and he was

  1678. gone

  1679. by the next

  1680. day

  1681. he died

  1682. and I'm not

  1683. saying this

  1684. is just

  1685. cast

  1686. a veil

  1687. of hopelessness

  1688. and fear

  1689. and panic

  1690. but just

  1691. for us

  1692. to understand

  1693. that this

  1694. is an

  1695. urgent call

  1696. we don't

  1697. have time

  1698. we really

  1699. do not

  1700. have time

  1701. and we

  1702. have to

  1703. move about

  1704. this with

  1705. a sense

  1706. of urgency

  1707. so I

  1708. want to

  1709. just spend

  1710. one minute

  1711. because we

  1712. need to

  1713. go up

  1714. and just

  1715. pray

  1716. what was

  1717. your question

  1718. it wasn't

  1719. a question

  1720. okay

  1721. great job

  1722. thank you

  1723. my name

  1724. is Rico

  1725. and I've

  1726. been traveling

  1727. west

  1728. to the

  1729. industry

  1730. where

  1731. helping

  1732. and able

  1733. to see

  1734. the

  1735. cancer

  1736. and the

  1737. way I

  1738. approach

  1739. even people

  1740. that I

  1741. meet next

  1742. to me

  1743. like a

  1744. starbucks

  1745. whatever

  1746. is I'll

  1747. just ask

  1748. them is

  1749. there

  1750. anything

  1751. you need

  1752. prayer for

  1753. so at

  1754. work

  1755. the co-workers

  1756. if someone's

  1757. going through

  1758. a hard time

  1759. or anything

  1760. or even

  1761. sometimes

  1762. just saying

  1763. is there

  1764. anything

  1765. I pray

  1766. for you

  1767. and then

  1768. pray for

  1769. them

  1770. there

  1771. and

  1772. well

  1773. another thing

  1774. that we

  1775. want to

  1776. think about

  1777. is when

  1778. we're

  1779. ministering

  1780. to someone

  1781. or sharing

  1782. the gospel

  1783. to someone

  1784. think about

  1785. how do I

  1786. want to be

  1787. a religion

  1788. and hear

  1789. the gospel

  1790. and even

  1791. within that

  1792. is like

  1793. the greatest

  1794. commandment

  1795. ask God

  1796. God will you

  1797. teach me to

  1798. love you

  1799. with all my

  1800. heart

  1801. and soul

  1802. and will you

  1803. teach me to

  1804. love my

  1805. neighbor

  1806. as I

  1807. know

  1808. because we're

  1809. loving our

  1810. neighbor in

  1811. the way he

  1812. calls us

  1813. to and

  1814. encourages us

  1815. and one

  1816. last verse

  1817. within that

  1818. is in

  1819. Colossians

  1820. 312

  1821. where

  1822. it's a

  1823. combination

  1824. of asking

  1825. the Holy

  1826. Spirit

  1827. to teach

  1828. us this

  1829. and it's

  1830. also being

  1831. mindful of

  1832. and it

  1833. really is the

  1834. fruit of the

  1835. spirit

  1836. is therefore

  1837. as God

  1838. chosen people

  1839. fully and

  1840. dearly love

  1841. both yourself

  1842. with compassion

  1843. kindness

  1844. humility

  1845. gentleness

  1846. and patience

  1847. and so

  1848. as we're

  1849. ministering

  1850. as we're

  1851. sharing the

  1852. gospel

  1853. and evangelizing

  1854. just being

  1855. that kind

  1856. passion

  1857. gentle

  1858. and thinking

  1859. about being

  1860. in their

  1861. shoes

  1862. the way

  1863. I want

  1864. to do

  1865. but

  1866. it makes

  1867. a big

  1868. difference

  1869. in real

  1870. life

  1871. too

  1872. as you

  1873. were saying

  1874. is God

  1875. plants the

  1876. seeds

  1877. he uses us

  1878. to plant

  1879. the seed

  1880. not for

  1881. them to know

  1882. Christ right

  1883. at that

  1884. moment

  1885. we share

  1886. that gentleness

  1887. we share

  1888. what the

  1889. gospel is

  1890. and even

  1891. going back

  1892. to Genesis

  1893. 126

  1894. God

  1895. created us

  1896. in his

  1897. image

  1898. and one

  1899. of my

  1900. other favorite

  1901. verses is

  1902. Psalms 37

  1903. 20

  1904. Psalm 37

  1905. 4

  1906. the light

  1907. in the

  1908. Lord

  1909. will give

  1910. you the

  1911. desires

  1912. of your

  1913. heart

  1914. and that's

  1915. God

  1916. what Jesus

  1917. did is

  1918. to restore

  1919. him

  1920. thank you

  1921. yeah and

  1922. these are

  1923. I mean

  1924. that's

  1925. absolutely

  1926. correct

  1927. it really

  1928. does matter

  1929. how we

  1930. proclaim it

  1931. and again

  1932. it has to be

  1933. done in

  1934. love

  1935. in gentleness

  1936. in compassion

  1937. because that's

  1938. how Christ

  1939. dealt with us

  1940. that's really

  1941. how he did

  1942. it with us

  1943. and think

  1944. about a

  1945. Samaritan

  1946. woman

  1947. as he

  1948. engaged

  1949. her

  1950. in compassion

  1951. she had

  1952. multiple

  1953. husbands

  1954. and he

  1955. didn't come

  1956. yelling

  1957. he knew

  1958. all about

  1959. that

  1960. but there

  1961. was a love

  1962. there was a

  1963. you know

  1964. I'm with you

  1965. there was a

  1966. sense of

  1967. solidarity

  1968. with this

  1969. person

  1970. and that's

  1971. what

  1972. we're called

  1973. to do

  1974. so let's

  1975. just spend

  1976. one minute

  1977. I just want

  1978. to encourage

  1979. you just

  1980. right now

  1981. in this

  1982. time

  1983. just think

  1984. about

  1985. five people

  1986. three people

  1987. that you

  1988. want to

  1989. be praying

  1990. for and

  1991. you want

  1992. to start

  1993. working

  1994. towards

  1995. engaging

  1996. with

  1997. just think

  1998. about them

  1999. dear lord

  2000. we thank you

  2001. lord for

  2002. the gift

  2003. of evangelism

  2004. we have

  2005. this grace

  2006. you've given

  2007. to us

  2008. you've

  2009. decided to

  2010. use us

  2011. broken

  2012. and weak

  2013. people

  2014. to

  2015. work

  2016. alongside

  2017. you

  2018. in this

  2019. redemption

  2020. plan

  2021. and it's

  2022. a beautiful

  2023. thing

  2024. and often times

  2025. lord we're

  2026. for different

  2027. reasons

  2028. we take it

  2029. for granted

  2030. and we

  2031. choose not

  2032. to obey

  2033. and sometimes

  2034. we just

  2035. we might even

  2036. just waste

  2037. our lives

  2038. just pursuing

  2039. other things

  2040. I want to pray

  2041. for these people

  2042. whom we have

  2043. thought about

  2044. that first of all

  2045. you will be

  2046. working in your

  2047. heart

  2048. changing them

  2049. saving them

  2050. but also

  2051. that you

  2052. will give us

  2053. the boldness

  2054. to actively

  2055. bring it up

  2056. to be

  2057. uncomfortable

  2058. give us the

  2059. willingness

  2060. may we be

  2061. willing to be

  2062. that weird

  2063. person

  2064. we consider

  2065. christ on the

  2066. cross

  2067. and whatever

  2068. whatever shame

  2069. comes with

  2070. being that weird

  2071. person

  2072. help us to

  2073. embrace that

  2074. because christ

  2075. embraced death

  2076. on the cross

  2077. for us

  2078. and since we're

  2079. crucified with him

  2080. may we be

  2081. willing to die

  2082. to our pride

  2083. in ourselves

  2084. for the sake

  2085. of others

  2086. we thank you

  2087. for this time

  2088. we pray all this

  2089. lord in christ's

  2090. name

  2091. amen

  2092. thanks for trying

  2093. to get a hold

  2094. of ours

  2095. and

  2096. you

  2097. and

  2098. we

  2099. to

  2100. you

  2101. you
