  1. Well, we're in the gospel of Matthew Chapter 7.

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  2. Matthew chapter 7, we are getting close to the end, the

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  3. Lord has been teaching an incredible amount of things in

  4. this particular sermon and he's beginning to wrap it up.

  5. In fact, today's passage the Lord, outlines two paths, two

  6. ways and we'll look at those in a little bit of detail in just a

  7. moment. But first, let's read the

  8. passage. Here.

  9. Now, the word of the Lord in Matthew 7:13, Enter by the

    Matthew 7:13

  10. narrow gate for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads

  11. to destruction and those who enter by, it are many for the

  12. gate is narrow. And the way is hard that leads

  13. to life and those who find it are few, the word of the Lord,

  14. you may be seated. This probably is one of the most

  15. symmetrical passages you'll find anywhere in Scripture, it is

  16. written very much in Poetic style and it's consistent, we're

  17. looking at two different ways and that's what I'm going to ask

  18. you this morning is to consider these two different paths.

  19. The word is O dose, or road or path or way or Journey.

  20. Sometimes it means a journey. So we're talking about the path

  21. of life. We're talking about the Journey

  22. of life. We're talking about what you do

  23. with those days. As in years, the Lord has given

  24. you on Earth and how are you situated in that?

  25. What are you doing? And where do you think you will

  26. end? And it and it lays out pretty

  27. simply, there's a mention of a gate on each of these roads.

  28. There's a mention of the path in something about the path.

  29. One path is very difficult, it's hard.

  30. The other path is easy. And then there's a destination.

  31. There's a destination to each of these paths.

  32. One path leads to destruction. And the other leads to life.

  33. There's I don't think there's any question that these two are

  34. talking about eternal life and eternal destruction death.

  35. There's about a half a dozen verses in the scripture.

  36. We won't recount them. You're familiar with probably

  37. each and every one of them had pretty well.

  38. Tell us that at the end of the path, there's a time of judgment

  39. and then there's a time of Consignment to a reward or a

  40. punishment. And that's where this one leads

  41. to the broad. Path.

  42. Leads to destruction leads to Eternal death.

  43. I'll use a good word. It's the word Jesus used hell.

  44. At least a hell. It's just that simple over and

  45. over in the Bible were called from the earliest days of the

  46. scripture all the way up until the very last verses of the

  47. Bible. We're told that we need to make

  48. some discernment. Some discretion, we need to make

  49. a decision. We need to decide and choose,

  50. which path were on. Choose you this day.

  51. Whom you will serve. Joshua told the people that's in

  52. the choices. Binary, there's only two choices

  53. then and now, in the days of Joshua's, you served the gods

  54. that were served on the other side of the river by our

  55. fathers, or Gods of this Pagan land Canaan, but as for me and

  56. my house, we will serve the Lord the other choice.

  57. Moses had laid down the same prescription for the people.

  58. Just half a generation earlier when he had said, simply I set

  59. before you life and death choose life that you may live.

  60. And the Lord is doing the same thing here, he's sitting before

  61. us two ways, two paths. So let's look at a couple of the

  62. details concerning each one of these and see where it leads us.

  63. I'll talk first about the gate. The first gate is narrow.

  64. The road is a road that has a narrow gate, the word there

  65. really is Street and it means it is very tight.

  66. It's pressed in on every side. In fact that you word is used in

  67. English to speak of a a straitjacket or being straight

  68. laced. It means your compressed in your

  69. pushed in. It's really not a very

  70. comfortable place. The gate is narrow so that you

  71. can't carry a lot of baggage with you.

  72. The gate is narrow, you've got to go in by yourself.

  73. You can't take some friends or parents or someone with you.

  74. You've got to enter it one by one by one.

  75. You come through that narrow gate.

  76. And that narrow gate is constricted to where you must

  77. leave all the baggage behind especially That which has to do

  78. with self and selfishness and that which has to do with your

  79. sin. In other words, it's not easy to

  80. get into this gate. In fact, the Bible says there

  81. are few that find it. Never mind how few that seek for

  82. it. Few that find it, it escapes

  83. most everybody because most everybody has found a better

  84. gate gate to another road that gate is a gate that is wide.

  85. It is flat, it is open. It's the word that we get our

  86. word plate or the word Plateau from it's a wide gate effect.

  87. You hardly notice it. It's a gated so wide.

  88. It's just a looks like just a whole big beautiful party and

  89. it's a place where everybody starts.

  90. It's a place where everybody is born to.

  91. It's that natural condition of mankind where you're born into

  92. the life and even though you draw your first breath at your

  93. birth, you don't worry too much. The Bible says that path is

  94. easy. It's comfortable, its fly out,

  95. there's no stress and it's a place where it's easy to travel

  96. because many people are on that road, you've got a lot of

  97. company. In fact, you look around, you'll

  98. find all kinds of companions, all kinds of fellow Travelers,

  99. and you'll be able to get in a crowd that really makes you

  100. comfortable birds of a feather flock together and you'll find a

  101. group of people that you're willing to try.

  102. Able to hang out with, on this broad, easy Flat Road.

  103. The the life there is said to be easy, whereas the road that is

  104. narrow that comes through the constricted gate is said to be

  105. hard, and that word, for hard means, it is Affliction.

  106. It has persecution. It has Tribulation and

  107. Temptation. In fact, over in Luke, when

  108. Jesus preaches, this material, he says strive to enter the

  109. narrow gate. He's already told us, it's few

  110. that find it. How many fewer actually enter

  111. it? And how many you're going to

  112. enter it without striving. The word is where we get our

  113. word agony. It means to agonize that's not

  114. exactly the way coming to Christ was presented to me and some of

  115. us were presented Christ is it's going to solve your problems.

  116. Christ is going to make your life better.

  117. If your teenager, your acne will clear up quicker.

  118. There's just liable to be all kinds of wonderful things.

  119. It's a place where you can have your best life.

  120. Now, it's a place where you can live out the best.

  121. Version of yourself. It's a place where you'll have

  122. health and where you'll have wealth and on, and on the

  123. presentation of that particular road is marked out as is easy to

  124. can. Jesus said you have to agonize

  125. to get there? What kind of Agony?

  126. Well, you've got to struggle with your sin.

  127. You have to struggle with yourself.

  128. You've got to come to some realizations.

  129. You've got to sober up. and realize where you are and where

  130. you're headed and the Destinies that are mentioned as I

  131. mentioned before or life, eternal life for the constricted

  132. gate and the Hard Road leads to life But wide gate in the flat

  133. easy Road leads to destruction. So I think probably in the

  134. moment to, we have left, I'm just sketch some things out and

  135. I got carried away and I just wrote up, way more more sermon

  136. than I can preach. And I remember in seminary, was

  137. somebody telling us when you through preaching, shut up, So

  138. I'm through preaching, but I'm not going to shut up.

  139. I'm going to met a little and I'm going to look on the broad

  140. Road. I remember a few weeks ago, we

  141. went to Memphis Tennessee to Mike to my uncle's funeral and

  142. we stayed in a the Hilton wanted honey.

  143. Big old Hilton there in the beautiful part of town and it

  144. overlooked a couple of major intersections the the loop, the

  145. interstate, and then a big broad area.

  146. And I remember, looking out the window and it's a dreary day,

  147. the two days we were there with lots of rain but I can watch The

  148. traffic go and I could see the times when it was Rush Hour,

  149. everybody basically parked out there for about a half-hour.

  150. It looked like and that was all there was to it.

  151. And then there were times when the traffic and move and in the

  152. wee hours of the morning games, no traffic at all.

  153. And and I had a chance to just look on that.

  154. Big broad Highway and that's what I want to do this morning.

  155. Very quickly with the broad Road, I want to see what's on

  156. the broad Road. What's going on out there?

  157. It's easy, it's a good life most, everybody's out there.

  158. In fact, you're not going to feel peculiar weird because

  159. there's people on the road, just like you are.

  160. It's a comfortable place to be actually.

  161. But what's going on out there? I tell you what's going on out.

  162. There is a path that leads to destruction.

  163. Let me sketch. Just a few things.

  164. I'm going to use a real simple outline.

  165. I'm going to use the Commandments right out of God's

  166. word. A few of them, not all of them,

  167. but you look out there and you see that, which is life and

  168. health given by God life comes from God, and help comes from

  169. the Lord and we've been given that, but what is going on on

  170. the broad Road out there on the broad Road?

  171. There were those who are out to destroy Humanity And they're out

  172. there advocating and practicing abortion euthanasia.

  173. There's an Insidious move that some of us are becoming aware of

  174. where there's an effort by some Elites to deep populi to

  175. populate the earth. The earth has now about 7

  176. billion people in. They believe that's about three

  177. times too many. So 2/3 of us have to go.

  178. So you start watching accidents, public policies, and all sorts

  179. of things that are designed to send more and more people to

  180. their grave, help them die a little earlier, help them maybe

  181. never to Be born in the first place.

  182. It's that's what's going on out there on the broad Road, there's

  183. a culture of death, the Lord says those that hate me, love

  184. death. So on the broad Road, it may be

  185. a comfortable place in a lot of ways, but it's headed for

  186. Destruction, the very destruction of the human race I

  187. look on the broad Road and I see that there are those out there

  188. that are committed, not to private property and

  189. productivity. And all those things that the

  190. Lord said about working and dressing and keeping and

  191. guarding, and saving, and multiplying, and building.

  192. All of those, great positive affirmations, that God gave on

  193. creation morning to the, to the, to the humans that were there

  194. Adam and Eve the great creation mandate but instead they are out

  195. to destroy. Property in the means of

  196. production and you see that there are government sponsored

  197. inflation confiscatory, taxation income redistribution and the

  198. worst of all that destroys is the decriminalization of actual

  199. theft. We're now people that steal a

  200. certain amount of money, it's just not worth, Prosecuting them

  201. go to the little Whole Foods up here in the edge of Highland

  202. Park and and talk. To the security guard.

  203. Got to know him. He's a lay preacher from the

  204. Philippines. He's a wonderful man.

  205. And I was talking with him Time After Time After Time, and he

  206. was telling me to. Finally, the policy came down,

  207. that if someone steals shoplifts and carries out a whole bag of

  208. groceries, or a whole Carter, groceries, he's to let him go.

  209. He's not to violate their rights.

  210. He's not to do anything, but just let them go.

  211. It's just Cost of doing business, raise every item in

  212. the store, just another percentage, and let you and me,

  213. pay for it. And we're seeing that in more.

  214. Or Justice systems where criminals are just let go not

  215. prosecuted sentences. Are shortened.

  216. The jailhouse door is opened giving carte blanche to those,

  217. who would steal. What else is going on on the

  218. broad Road? Well, God gave us marriage and

  219. from marriage. We are to be fruitful and

  220. multiply and have families with little babies like that.

  221. That's what the Lord wants us to do.

  222. But what's going on out there? Well, there are those that Would

  223. destroy God's design with one man.

  224. One woman for one lifetime for the purposes of raising children

  225. for the glory of God. Instead we have fornication

  226. cohabitation. We have adultery divorce,

  227. homosexuality, gender confusion transgender anything in the

  228. world to pervert and warp that which God has given.

  229. So if you're on the broad Road you need to kind of accept that.

  230. He's think well, that's just kind of the way people are, you

  231. know? Because one of the things on the

  232. broad road is freedom, Don't You Love Freedom?

  233. Do whatever you want to Do whatever there's a way that

  234. seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of

  235. death. And that's what you see here.

  236. This death and destruction, Thou shalt not bear false, witness

  237. what's going on in the broad Road there?

  238. Well, truth and Justice. What we're looking at on the

  239. broad road is the absolute destroying of Truth and Justice

  240. slander is standard fare for almost all media these days in

  241. our country, repeated false reports coming from government

  242. agencies, Agencies and police and every place else gender

  243. identification, calling that, which is male with pronouns

  244. pronounced for the female and looking at that Stark binary God

  245. created difference and lying about it.

  246. Using the language the tongue that God made for us to speak

  247. and communicate in truth and in love to lie about the realities

  248. that we see and we see courts rendering false decisions in

  249. verdicts ridiculous decisions based upon no established

  250. principle of law, just absolutely serendipitously

  251. ruling any old miscellaneous thing they want and start paying

  252. attention and you'll see those things coming down.

  253. Not only in but anything that's it says a judgment.

  254. School boards, making decisions city council's, state

  255. legislatures, the United States Congress Supreme Court

  256. government, bureaucracies who handle most of the laws these

  257. days. Anyway, most of the laws we love

  258. under never were under the halls of Congress.

  259. They were just put in by edict, in Fiat by the bureaucracy and

  260. it's a pressing God's people. There's a culture out there that

  261. destroys truth and Justice. What else is going on in the

  262. broad Road? Well, people are getting very

  263. comfortable. Table with the notion of

  264. covetousness Bible tells us not to covet but there's a whole

  265. movement in our country that is based upon covetousness, it's

  266. reparations. It's giving back, all kinds of

  267. income redistribution for all kinds of fictitional reasons and

  268. it's not based upon sound demographics.

  269. It's based upon pure ideology. That was born in the pit of

  270. Hell. And we'll take everybody else to

  271. hell. All these doctrines were

  272. atheistic without God to start with.

  273. Not the mind of God, they're not the law of God, they're not the

  274. will of God, they are Godless, and they're headed to a Godless

  275. place of darkness and that's what's going on out there on the

  276. road, real the politics of in me Envy fraud, bribery most

  277. business now is conducted by bribery.

  278. You don't. Really get to have a very big

  279. business with massive profits unless you figure out how to

  280. kick back or how to pay lobbyists or whatever else and

  281. that's gone on the whole wide world ever since it began even

  282. in the Bible. We remember that the official

  283. was waiting on people to bribe to get Paul out of jail and you

  284. know, bribery has been one of the ways that that moves, it

  285. gambling, gambling of any sort. It's not, you're taking a risk

  286. is what makes gambling, a sin. It's that your coveting that

  287. which you did not earn. God did not give you and was not

  288. acquired by the means. That God expects you hard work,

  289. labor, Thrift And in charity is how God expects people to

  290. accumulate into keeping to husband and Shepherd their

  291. wealth. But instead we try to hit the

  292. lottery, hit the jackpot and that is a flagrant violation of

  293. the tenth. Commandment in every way.

  294. What's going on out there on the broad Road?

  295. Well, it's the destruction of all personal Integrity.

  296. It is the doing away with all kinds of things.

  297. It's a hatred of humanity. It's headed straight.

  298. The damnation. And if you're on that Broad Road

  299. and your practice in some of these things and you're

  300. comfortable with others, practicing it and you think I'm

  301. way off base and I'm being harsh and critical then you've got the

  302. majority opinion with you because there's many on the

  303. broad Road, there's a whole lot of yet a whole lot of you and a

  304. lot of what people are doing on the broad road is having a whole

  305. lot of energy put into persecuting and and against

  306. those that are on the narrow road, what's going on in the

  307. narrow road, we are to strive to seek to find it, it's pressure

  308. on all sides, it's constricted. There's persecution from the

  309. people on the broad road but it's the following of Christ.

  310. I'll tell you, let me just well, let's see.

  311. I'm out of town Tommy. So I'm going to take one minute.

  312. Can you shorten up your service up here?

  313. So yeah he's already shortened it as much as I think the Bible

  314. in the BC, o will let him, let him shorten it up.

  315. But let me tell you something. Since going on the broad Road

  316. and this includes, I hope our congregation this morning.

  317. We see people on the broad road that are agonizing.

  318. They are in a bit of a straitjacket.

  319. They are following the commands of the Lord, they are seeking

  320. and striving for Holiness. They are mortifying sin in their

  321. life, let not sin, therefore reign in your mortal body, It's

  322. what the scriptures tell us. They're taking up their cross

  323. people on the, on the narrow road or are dying daily.

  324. They're striving and they're working, and they're praying for

  325. sanctification Holiness of Life. They want their speech cleaned

  326. up. They want, have kept clean

  327. speech, and truthful speech, and gentle speech, and loving

  328. speech, and edifying building up speech and they're working at

  329. it, they're keeping their mouths shut when they need to and

  330. they're opening it when they when they need to their work.

  331. Going on those things, they're loving the brothers there in the

  332. fellowship of saints. They're huddled with that little

  333. flock, that that the Lord has called in to himself there on

  334. the narrow road in the narrow road is hard.

  335. It's not necessarily easy. They're seeking to obey the

  336. great commandment of love, the Great Commission of making

  337. disciples, they're practicing and holding the means of Grace

  338. prayer. Under the word of God

  339. Fellowship, preaching, in proclamation of a true gospel,

  340. they're being Salt and Light. They're walking worthy of the

  341. call. They're bearing witness to the

  342. gospel, they're giving forth that thing that matters the

  343. most. If you read the book of

  344. Revelation is the word of their testimony, they're testifying

  345. and that word testifying In testimony, is the word for

  346. witness. It's the word martyr.

  347. What's going on on the narrow road.

  348. Maybe somebody there is going to face For their faith in Christ,

  349. martyrdom. Are you ready for that?
