  1. Good evening everyone. First of all let me say thank you for everyone for your many prayers

  2. and encouragement and support over the past few months. Phoebe has arrived which was fabulous

  3. and is fabulous and she's going fairly strong. She's in a tank thing but she's breathing on her

  4. on her own so apart from the tank thing she's breathing on her own so we're and she's getting

  5. stronger the doctor's very happy with her and all going well so thank you for that really appreciate

  6. it. Let's pray. Gracious God thank you for your word we thank you for your many promises to us

  7. Lord we pray that as we look at discipleship tonight what it means to follow you I pray

  8. Father that you would encourage us that you would challenge us particularly over the next couple of

  9. weeks as we walk with Jesus to Jerusalem as as we see what it means to follow him Lord I pray that

  10. you would you would help us to understand it with clarity in a way that the disciples didn't understand

  11. it so Lord that we might truly be your disciples challenge us we pray rebuke us we pray that you

  12. would change us and encourage us as your people amen. It was December 2000 and Natalie and I had been

  13. planning to go on a holiday to the UK it was the first time that we'd been overseas and it was kind

  14. of one of those things we had been planning it for you know six months or something like that and

  15. we'd planned every contingency. We'd spoken to a number of people who had been to places like the UK

  16. and so they gave us all the bits of advice and we wrote all the advice down and covered all our bases

  17. so we had everything covered we organized our passports we had clothing for every kind of

  18. weather contingency in the UK both cold and freezing we we had medication for every known disease

  19. that we may potentially pick up on the way we had pre-booked accommodation put cars

  20. tours I think even meals I think we'd pre-booked basically everything we had we figured we had

  21. everything we were so you know had all the pamphlets and books and we you know our bags were just

  22. completely loaded we're so looking forward to this and you know we had it all prepared and I was we're

  23. flying out on a Sunday afternoon and so I decided I would preach and do services that Sunday morning

  24. and then left church and went straight to the airport and so I arrived at the airport we're excited we're happy

  25. booked in and all that sort of stuff and we got to the back of the plane and which is where we were seated

  26. right at the very back of the plane and I sat down and then I went oh no I'm not ready for this

  27. I had it was the first time that it dawned on me that it's a long way from Australia to the UK

  28. and I got to sit in this plane and that guy there is too close to me and that seat is too close to me

  29. and there are too many people too close to me and I got I realized however that there was a map on the

  30. back of the plane on the back of the seat and so I watched the map basically all the way to the edge

  31. of Australia and so it was like five hours and I got on the plane I didn't have a change of clothes

  32. I didn't have a book I had I had nothing I literally walked out except for my sermon notes

  33. is all I had I hopped on this plane and I got to Singapore and it was like is there any other way

  34. to get to London than to get back on that plane I'm just not ready for this I just this is this is I

  35. mean we have we're not even halfway there yet and I've got to get back on this plane and fly the rest of

  36. the way it was yeah I got to say it was probably the worst travel experience of my life I just had

  37. not at all mentally prepared I prepared everything else it was down there in the dungeon the plane

  38. somewhere but I had not actually mentally prepared for the actual trip at all and and I just fidgeted and

  39. I whinged and I complained all the way I didn't sleep a wink all the way and this guy beside me wanted

  40. to talk for most of the way it was mind-boggling I said to that I got to the UK and I said look if we

  41. can book a boat home that would be fantastic I love the boat dates what we're about to embark on here

  42. is a journey that Jesus is beginning with his disciples and it's a journey that we have to prepare for

  43. it's a journey that we have to be clearly prepared for because Jesus talks about it in the end of

  44. that verse 62 he talks about fickle following he talks about fickle following he wants to make it

  45. very clear what we are to expect if we're going to be his disciples and follow him and he says this in

  46. verse 62 no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God

  47. what Jesus is saying is you want the good stuff you want heaven but you're ready for the trip

  48. are you ready for the trip to get there because we can have this idea of heaven and the trip's going

  49. to be like heaven as well and Jesus said guys it's not quite like that this is the most significant

  50. turning point in Luke's gospel we've seen the great things that Jesus has done we've seen his

  51. compassion for the lost and we've seen his authority over all that is and now it says in chapter 9 verse 51

  52. having just moments before had Peter's confession that you are the Christ and God himself saying

  53. this is my son whom I will please it's quite clear who Jesus is now what does it mean to follow this

  54. Jesus and so in 951 it says Jesus said his face for Jerusalem that's what it literally means he

  55. resolutely set out for Jerusalem he said his face for Jerusalem and so we are about to embark on this trip

  56. with Jesus let's turn however to chapter 19 because in chapter 19 we get the end of the trip

  57. where Jesus is just about to arrive so Luke chapter 19 it's the last week of his life and Jesus says this

    Luke 19 chapter mention

  58. in verse 37 when he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives the whole crowd of

  59. disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen blessed is the

  60. king who comes in the name of the Lord peace in heaven and glory in the highest it needed to be said

  61. as Jesus arrived at Jerusalem it needed to be said blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord

  62. Jesus said it had to be said the Pharisees and the teachers of the Lord said Jesus tell your disciples to

  63. shut up and Jesus said if they do not speak that which is true the stones would speak it it had to be

  64. said the king has arrived I like to think of our worship in this age as a rehearsal for the age to come

  65. I like to think that as we gather week after week that that's what we're thinking as we come to church and

  66. worship it's a rehearsal of that which is to come in the age when we are gathered around the throne

  67. one day we who by God's grace have been faithful to the Lord are going to stand with innumerable

  68. millions of believers from Bangladesh and Poland and Egypt and the United States and Iceland and Cameroon

  69. and Ecuador and Burma and Borneo and Japan and thousands of tribes and peoples and languages

  70. all purified by Christ with palms of praise in their hand and when we raise those palms of praise in salute to our King Jesus

  71. he will see almost an endless field of green shimmering with life and pulsating with praise

  72. and then like the sound of a thousand choruses we will sing our song of salvation while the mighty Christ with heartfelt love

  73. looks out over those whom he has brought with his own blood

  74. that is the future that is the worship that we are in rehearsal for right now

  75. but as Jesus approached Jerusalem

  76. if he had taken his throne on that day at Jerusalem

  77. none of us would be robed in white

  78. none of us would be waving palms of praise

  79. in the age to come

  80. there had to be a cross

  81. and this is what the disciples had not yet understood

  82. so back in chapter 9

  83. flick back to Luke 9

  84. as Jesus resolutely sets out for Jerusalem from Galilee

  85. he tried to explain this to his disciples

  86. in verse 22 of chapter 9 he said

  87. the son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders

  88. the chief priests and the teachers of the law

  89. he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life

  90. and then in verse 44 he says to them

  91. listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you

  92. I mean you should pick up at that point

  93. the son of man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men

  94. but verse 45 tells us

  95. they did not understand what this meant

  96. it was hidden from them

  97. so they did not grasp it

  98. and they were afraid to ask him about it

  99. you see clearly their understanding of Jesus' last journey

  100. to Jerusalem was actually flawed

  101. they saw him as a king who was moving in to take control

  102. and he was

  103. but they could not grasp that the victory that Jesus would win in Jerusalem

  104. was over sin and Satan and death

  105. and all the enemies of righteousness and joy

  106. and that this victory would be won through his own horrible suffering and death

  107. and that the kingdom which they thought was going to be established immediately

  108. was going to take thousands of years

  109. to be established

  110. and their misunderstanding of Jesus' journey to Jerusalem

  111. resulted in a misunderstanding of what it meant for them to be disciples of Jesus

  112. this is why this is so important for us to see

  113. lest we make the same mistake as those disciples

  114. in Luke chapter 9 verse 51 to 56

    Luke 9:51–56

  115. we learn how not to understand Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem

  116. as the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven

  117. Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem

  118. to resolutely set out is to set his face towards

  119. to doggedly, stubbornly, determinedly

  120. head for Jerusalem

  121. and it meant something very different for the disciples

  122. than it did for Jesus

  123. you can actually see the visions of greatness

  124. that danced around in the disciples' minds at this point

  125. verse 46

  126. an argument started amongst the disciples

  127. as to which of them would be the greatest

  128. it's like Jesus, we're almost there

  129. another week and we're going to be there sort of stuff

  130. we're going to be in Jerusalem

  131. you're going to be king

  132. and let's fight over who's going to be foreign minister

  133. and deputy prime minister

  134. and you know

  135. who's going to be the greatest in your kingdom

  136. Jesus

  137. because Jerusalem and glory

  138. were just around the corner

  139. for the disciples

  140. oh what it would mean for them

  141. when Jesus took his throne

  142. but Jesus had another vision in his head

  143. and one wonders frankly

  144. how he carried it for so long

  145. and alone

  146. here's what Jerusalem meant for Jesus

  147. Luke chapter 13 verse 33

    Luke 13:33

  148. in any case

  149. I must keep going today

  150. and tomorrow

  151. and the next day

  152. for surely no prophet can die

  153. outside Jerusalem

  154. Jerusalem meant one thing for Jesus

  155. certain death

  156. and he was under no illusions

  157. as to whether it was going to be a quick death

  158. or a heroic death

  159. he pointed out in chapter 18 of Luke

  160. verse 31 onwards

  161. we are going up to Jerusalem

  162. and everything that is written by the prophets

  163. about the son of man will be fulfilled

  164. he will be turned over to the Gentiles

  165. they will mock him

  166. insult him

  167. spit on him

  168. flog him

  169. and kill him

  170. when Jesus

  171. set his face to go to Jerusalem

  172. he set his face to die

  173. so he sets out

  174. and he says in chapter 9 verse 52

  175. he sent messengers on ahead

  176. who went into a Samaritan village

  177. to get things ready for him

  178. but the people there did not welcome him

  179. because he was heading for Jerusalem

  180. it doesn't really matter

  181. whether his rejection

  182. is because Jesus

  183. and his companions were Jews

  184. and the Samaritans hated Jews

  185. or whether the rejection

  186. is a more personal rejection

  187. because they didn't want Jesus

  188. being their Messiah

  189. that what matters for this story

  190. is simply that Jesus

  191. is already being rejected

  192. and then what happens is

  193. this focus shifts from Jesus

  194. to the disciples

  195. and their response

  196. and especially the response

  197. of James and John

  198. you see it there in verse 54

  199. they said to Jesus

  200. Lord

  201. do you want us to call down fire

  202. from heaven to destroy them

  203. you get a glimpse here

  204. why Jesus called these guys

  205. the sons of thunder

  206. and you know frankly

  207. I can imagine being there

  208. I can imagine saying it

  209. you know Jesus

  210. do you want me to whip the guns out

  211. you know come on Jesus

  212. you know we're on our way to victory

  213. nothing can stop us now

  214. let's let the fire fall Jesus

  215. let the judgment begin

  216. oh Jesus how Jerusalem

  217. is going to tremble

  218. when they see us coming Jesus

  219. let's get on with the business

  220. right now

  221. and Jesus turns to them

  222. and rebukes them

  223. in verse 55

  224. and they simply went

  225. to another village

  226. those couple of verses

  227. help us to see

  228. that a mistaken view

  229. of Jesus journey

  230. to Jerusalem

  231. can lead to a mistaken view

  232. of what it means

  233. to be his disciple

  234. if Jesus had come

  235. to execute judgment

  236. and take up

  237. an earthly rule

  238. then it would make sense

  239. for the sons of thunder

  240. to launch missiles

  241. at this Samaritan village

  242. but if Jesus had come

  243. not to judge

  244. but to save

  245. then a radically different

  246. form of discipleship

  247. is required

  248. and so here is the question

  249. I think that this passage

  250. is asking every believer

  251. does discipleship mean

  252. deploying God's missiles

  253. against the enemy

  254. in righteous indignation

  255. or does discipleship mean

  256. following him

  257. on the Calvary road

  258. which leads to suffering

  259. and death

  260. the answer in the whole

  261. New Testament

  262. is that the surprise

  263. about Jesus the Messiah

  264. is that he came

  265. to live

  266. a sacrificial

  267. dying service

  268. before he comes

  269. a second time

  270. to reign

  271. in glory

  272. and the surprise

  273. about discipleship

  274. is that it demands

  275. a like of sacrificial

  276. dying service

  277. before we reign

  278. with him

  279. in glory

  280. what James and John

  281. had to learn

  282. and what we must learn

  283. too

  284. is that Jesus'

  285. journey to Jerusalem

  286. to die

  287. is our journey

  288. to Jerusalem

  289. to die as well

  290. there are certainly

  291. those that view it

  292. as the exact opposite

  293. that since Jesus

  294. suffered so much

  295. and died in our place

  296. therefore we are free

  297. to go straight

  298. to the head of the class

  299. we skip all the exams

  300. he suffered

  301. so that I could have

  302. comfort

  303. he died so that

  304. I could live

  305. he bore abuse

  306. so that I could be

  307. esteemed

  308. he gave up all the

  309. treasures in heaven

  310. so that I could build

  311. up treasures in earth

  312. he brought the kingdom

  313. and paid for our entrance

  314. and now we live in it

  315. with all its earthly

  316. privileges

  317. but that goes against

  318. the plain teaching

  319. of the Bible

  320. even the plain teaching

  321. the context here

  322. Luke chapter 9

    Luke 9:23

  323. verse 23

  324. and 24

  325. Jesus says

  326. if anyone

  327. would come after me

  328. he must deny himself

  329. take up his cross

  330. daily and follow me

  331. whoever wants to save

  332. his life will lose it

  333. but whoever loses

  334. his life for me

  335. will save it

  336. friends what I'm saying

  337. here is that

  338. when Jesus

  339. resolutely set out

  340. for Jerusalem

  341. to walk that

  342. Calvary road

  343. he was not merely

  344. just taking our place

  345. he was setting

  346. our pattern

  347. he's not just

  348. our substitute

  349. he's actually

  350. our pace setter

  351. if we seek

  352. to secure

  353. our life

  354. through returning

  355. evil for evil

  356. or surrounding

  357. ourselves with luxury

  358. in the face

  359. of human need

  360. this passage says

  361. we will lose

  362. our life

  363. we can only

  364. save our life

  365. if we follow

  366. Christ on the

  367. Calvary road

  368. Jesus

  369. died

  370. to save us

  371. from the power

  372. and punishment

  373. of sin

  374. not from the

  375. suffering

  376. and sacrifices

  377. of simplicity

  378. for love's sake

  379. Jesus

  380. died to save us

  381. from the power

  382. and punishment

  383. of sin

  384. not from the

  385. suffering

  386. and sacrifices

  387. of simplicity

  388. for love's sake

  389. and so

  390. verses 56

  391. to 62

  392. are Jesus

  393. way of correcting

  394. the misconception

  395. of discipleship

  396. the misconception

  397. of all the

  398. glories of

  399. discipleship

  400. that James

  401. and John

  402. had

  403. three times

  404. here in

  405. these passages

  406. these verses

  407. we see the

  408. word follow

  409. to describe

  410. what it means

  411. to be his

  412. disciple

  413. verse 57

  414. I will follow

  415. you

  416. verse 59

  417. follow me

  418. and verse 61

  419. I will follow

  420. you

  421. the point is

  422. that being

  423. a disciple

  424. of Jesus

  425. is more than

  426. just learning

  427. about Jesus

  428. it's actually

  429. following Jesus

  430. where Jesus

  431. goes

  432. and as it

  433. says in Luke

    Luke 14:27

  434. 14

  435. verse 27

  436. whoever does

  437. not bear

  438. his own

  439. cross

  440. and come

  441. after me

  442. cannot be

  443. my disciple

  444. when Jesus

  445. says these

  446. words

  447. follow me

  448. he says

  449. it in the

  450. context of

  451. having just

  452. been rejected

  453. at Samaria

  454. as he said

  455. his face

  456. to go to

  457. Jerusalem

  458. and so

  459. just for a

  460. moment

  461. I want to

  462. dwell on

  463. those words

  464. those two

  465. little words

  466. follow

  467. me

  468. and if

  469. you're dozing

  470. off at all

  471. right now

  472. you need to

  473. tune into

  474. this bit

  475. follow

  476. me

  477. follow

  478. me

  479. what I

  480. want you

  481. to do

  482. tonight

  483. after church

  484. is go

  485. home

  486. pick up

  487. your Bible

  488. turn to

  489. Luke chapter

    Luke 9 chapter mention

  490. 9

  491. and you

  492. dwell

  493. on those

  494. two words

  495. you hover

  496. over them

  497. you meditate

  498. on them

  499. you read

  500. them

  501. you think

  502. about them

  503. you incline

  504. your heart

  505. to them

  506. you ask

  507. God to

  508. pray

  509. you pray

  510. to God

  511. ask him

  512. to bend

  513. your heart

  514. to understand

  515. those words

  516. follow me

  517. follow me

  518. follow me

  519. until they

  520. burn

  521. until they

  522. burn

  523. deep in

  524. your heart

  525. and in

  526. your mind

  527. and if

  528. they're not

  529. burning deep

  530. in your heart

  531. and in

  532. your mind

  533. you read

  534. them again

  535. you ponder

  536. you meditate

  537. you think

  538. you pray

  539. you ponder

  540. you meditate

  541. you think

  542. you pray

  543. again

  544. and again

  545. and again

  546. until they

  547. burn

  548. deep

  549. in your

  550. heart

  551. because my

  552. guess is

  553. for most of

  554. us

  555. we read

  556. those versus

  557. and we skip straight over them.

  558. Follow me, follow me, follow me.

  559. And they are so significant.

  560. They reveal two things.

  561. They reveal a person and they reveal a path.

  562. They reveal Jesus, they reveal his mission.

  563. They reveal a sweetness and they reveal a suffering.

  564. When Jesus responded the way he did

  565. to these three would-be followers,

  566. he was teaching that the Calvary Road through Jerusalem

  567. would be a hard road

  568. and would require personal sacrifices.

  569. And he was testing, testing, testing

  570. to see if he, the me in the follow me,

  571. was their greatest treasure.

  572. There are two things happening here.

  573. Firstly, Jesus is offering himself

  574. for our fellowship and our friendship

  575. and our partnership.

  576. Just think about that.

  577. This is the me bit.

  578. This is the me of the follow me.

  579. The creator of the universe,

  580. the king of kings, the lord of lords,

  581. the one who upholds everything

  582. by the power of his word,

  583. the one who is from everlasting to everlasting,

  584. that's mind-boggling in of itself,

  585. born of a virgin, the holy one of God,

  586. perfect in obedience, triumphant over sin

  587. and death and hell and demons.

  588. In him are hidden all the treasures

  589. of knowledge and wisdom.

  590. And this Jesus, this me,

  591. says follow me.

  592. Me.

  593. Me.

  594. Do you get who's saying follow me

  595. on this Calvary Road?

  596. The significance of those words.

  597. And the second thing that Jesus is doing here

  598. is testing us.

  599. Testing us

  600. that if

  601. this

  602. is in actual fact

  603. enough.

  604. In other words,

  605. he's testing us.

  606. Do you know

  607. who's calling you

  608. to follow him?

  609. Is it enough

  610. to have Jesus?

  611. Is it enough

  612. to be satisfied

  613. in him?

  614. Is he your treasure,

  615. your joy,

  616. your security,

  617. your hope,

  618. your friend

  619. in times of loneliness,

  620. your home,

  621. your father,

  622. your mother,

  623. your power

  624. to look straight ahead

  625. rather than to be turned aside

  626. in fickleness

  627. of discipleship?

  628. When Jesus says

  629. follow me,

  630. he wants us

  631. to be satisfied

  632. in him

  633. and not to be satisfied

  634. in our homes,

  635. our furniture,

  636. the security system

  637. which keeps it safe,

  638. the manicured garden,

  639. the climate controlled atmosphere,

  640. the cockroach,

  641. mouse free,

  642. ant free,

  643. fully automated kitchen,

  644. not even the cosy comfort

  645. of the bedroom

  646. where we lay down

  647. our head at night

  648. and cuddle up

  649. under a doona

  650. because the son of man

  651. has no place

  652. to lay his head.

  653. No place to lay his head.

  654. He wants to know

  655. are we satisfied

  656. in him?

  657. In him.

  658. We don't need to make

  659. these words

  660. any harder

  661. than they are.

  662. Jesus isn't saying

  663. there will never be

  664. a time

  665. when you will have

  666. a bed

  667. or a pillow

  668. or a roof.

  669. Jesus is not saying

  670. that one of the criteria

  671. of being his disciple

  672. is that we must sleep

  673. standing up

  674. but it has

  675. something to say.

  676. It has something

  677. to say about

  678. how many beds

  679. and how many pillows

  680. and how many rooms

  681. and how many doonas

  682. we have.

  683. It has something

  684. to say

  685. about how many

  686. places we've invested

  687. in to lay

  688. our head,

  689. how much comfort

  690. and luxury

  691. that we seek

  692. to surround

  693. ourselves with.

  694. It has got something

  695. to say about that.

  696. Brothers and sisters,

  697. we're 16,000

  698. people groups

  699. in this world

  700. still waiting

  701. to hear the gospel

  702. and millions

  703. of children

  704. and people

  705. starving

  706. through no fault

  707. of their own

  708. and many people

  709. in our own country

  710. hard pressed

  711. because of jobliness

  712. and just emptiness

  713. of the soul.

  714. It is inconceivable

  715. that a disciple

  716. of Jesus Christ

  717. can go right on

  718. pursuing the great

  719. Australian dream.

  720. What excites me

  721. so much

  722. is when I see

  723. Christians

  724. who have

  725. an alternative

  726. dream,

  727. a dream

  728. of breaking

  729. loose

  730. from the shackles

  731. of this

  732. self-serving

  733. consumer

  734. culture

  735. in which we live,

  736. a dream

  737. of doing

  738. something radical,

  739. something

  740. radically loving

  741. with your house,

  742. something radically

  743. loving with your

  744. portfolio,

  745. something radically

  746. loving with your

  747. income,

  748. something radically

  749. loving with your

  750. free evenings

  751. or mornings

  752. or afternoons

  753. or weekends

  754. or something

  755. radically loving

  756. with your job.

  757. Some of us

  758. have discovered

  759. such wonderful

  760. freedom from

  761. the love of

  762. things,

  763. but some of us

  764. are yet to

  765. discover it.

  766. Likewise,

  767. Jesus isn't

  768. saying here,

  769. it will always

  770. be wrong to go

  771. to your dad's

  772. funeral.

  773. The point is

  774. that Jesus

  775. Christ is

  776. absolute

  777. and all

  778. other allegiances

  779. are relative

  780. to that.

  781. That's the point

  782. Jesus is making

  783. here.

  784. Jesus isn't

  785. trying to

  786. create a bunch

  787. of laws

  788. that all

  789. disciples have

  790. to keep.

  791. This is where

  792. we get bogged

  793. down so much.

  794. We fight

  795. over,

  796. thou shalt

  797. not give

  798. all your money

  799. or thou shalt

  800. not have a bed

  801. or thou shalt

  802. not go to

  803. your dad's

  804. funeral.

  805. And we forget

  806. about the

  807. me,

  808. who it is

  809. that's called

  810. us to follow

  811. him.

  812. We get so

  813. caught up in

  814. the follow

  815. bit and we

  816. forget about

  817. it's me,

  818. the me that's

  819. called us

  820. to follow

  821. him.

  822. The point of

  823. this whole

  824. passage is Jesus

  825. sets out to

  826. Jerusalem

  827. is that he

  828. knows our

  829. idols.

  830. He knows

  831. it.

  832. He knows

  833. perfectly

  834. what is

  835. competing

  836. in your

  837. heart

  838. with

  839. affection

  840. for him.

  841. He knows

  842. it.

  843. It's why

  844. he raises

  845. the question

  846. in verse

  847. 62 about

  848. fickle

  849. following.

  850. It's the

  851. danger of

  852. indecisive

  853. discipleship.

  854. No one

  855. after putting

  856. his hand

  857. to the

  858. plough

  859. and looking

  860. back is

  861. fit for

  862. the kingdom

  863. of God.

  864. In other

  865. words,

  866. you can't

  867. plough in a

  868. straight line

  869. if you're

  870. looking behind

  871. you.

  872. No, I

  873. know it.

  874. I come

  875. from the

  876. country.

  877. I've

  878. tried it.

  879. You

  880. cannot

  881. serve

  882. Christ.

  883. You

  884. cannot

  885. make

  886. Jesus

  887. look great

  888. to this

  889. world if

  890. you're

  891. always

  892. second

  893. guessing

  894. whether

  895. or not

  896. he's

  897. worth

  898. following

  899. and

  900. trusting.

  901. Looking

  902. back

  903. means

  904. longing

  905. back.

  906. It

  907. means we

  908. are not

  909. really

  910. sure if

  911. he's

  912. worth

  913. following.

  914. It's

  915. having a

  916. divided

  917. heart

  918. and James

  919. says that

  920. the double

  921. minded person

  922. is unstable

  923. in all

  924. they do.

  925. Friends,

  926. tonight

  927. Jesus

  928. is coming

  929. to us

  930. through

  931. his word

  932. and he's

  933. looking

  934. in our

  935. faces

  936. and he's

  937. looking

  938. straight to

  939. our hearts

  940. and I

  941. want to

  942. say please

  943. let him

  944. do it.

  945. Please

  946. let him

  947. do it.

  948. Let him

  949. mess with

  950. your heart.

  951. Let him

  952. mess with

  953. your heart.

  954. Let these

  955. words

  956. follow me

  957. burn.

  958. Burn

  959. deep

  960. within you

  961. until you

  962. burn for

  963. a passion

  964. for his

  965. glory.

  966. Burn

  967. for a

  968. passion

  969. for his

  970. kingdom.

  971. Jesus

  972. is worthy,

  973. he is

  974. worth

  975. following

  976. even

  977. through

  978. Jerusalem,

  979. even to

  980. the cross

  981. and from

  982. there

  983. to all

  984. the nations

  985. of the

  986. world.

  987. Yes,

  988. he died

  989. just outside

  990. of Jerusalem

  991. but it's

  992. not bad

  993. news.

  994. His

  995. death

  996. is our

  997. life

  998. and so

  999. follow

  1000. him.

  1001. Follow

  1002. him.

  1003. sh

  1004. 고

  1005. him.
