  1. We do pray, Father, that even as I speak now and preach this message,

  2. that you would be the one who would give it power by your spirit,

  3. that you would make your word alive to us, that you would grow us in Christ,

  4. that we would be growing up in our faith and growing up in our love and our dependence on you.

  5. And we pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

  6. When I was a young adult, and I hate to say it's a little while ago,

  7. but when I was a young adult, late teenager,

  8. the big issues in the world or the Western world for people like us,

  9. the things that we lived with a certain level of fear about,

  10. were things like nuclear Armageddon.

  11. It was still 1977 when I came to Christ, the Cold War was still happening.

  12. The Berlin Wall hadn't come down at the end of that age.

  13. And throughout high school, you know, some of the nuclear weapons were still being tested,

  14. some of the really large ones around the world as the big nations, the superpowers,

  15. rattled their sabres.

  16. And in the Christian circles that I mixed in,

  17. it was really common for people to be talking about when the world was going to end

  18. and when Jesus was going to return.

  19. And it wasn't just in one or two churches, it was in many churches.

  20. And there were a lot of books that were written coming out of the United States.

  21. A guy called Hal Lindsay that was read in lots of churches wrote books like The Late Great Planet Earth,

  22. which had a particular view about how the end of the world would come about,

  23. how it would happen, when it would be.

  24. And I think people were anticipating that it was likely to be in our own lifetime.

  25. I suspect that some of the big issues which dominate the thinking of young adults

  26. when we think about cataclysmic-type issues right now are issues like climate change

  27. and what it might do to the world,

  28. what the world into the future is going to be like to live in.

  29. I think our perspective on the end of time varies according to where we live.

  30. So at the moment we're living in a place and a point of time in history

  31. where we're fairly privileged, where we live with a fair amount of wealth,

  32. where we are able to access goods from nearly any place on the surface of the earth,

  33. where our TV is dominated by things like food programs

  34. and the next fancy meal that we can eat.

  35. I saw a wonderful new cookbook from, was it Donahay or was it Nigella the other day?

  36. Absolute treat, drooling looking at it,

  37. but knowing I can't eat those things if I'm going to keep slimming down.

  38. But it's good to think about it.

  39. But I wonder whether when we live in significant comfort,

  40. if we're not really anticipating the things of God in terms of the return of Christ

  41. and what that might mean for us.

  42. The very last prayer at the end of the Bible, the very last words of the Bible are,

  43. Come Lord Jesus.

  44. And if you're like me, like a week or two before I got married,

  45. that's not a prayer I wanted to pray.

  46. It was like, oh, come Lord Jesus, but not yet,

  47. because I still want to experience what it's like to be married.

  48. Somebody told me a story like that this morning.

  49. But if I was living in southern Sudan or south Sudan where Darian Klentsos has just visited

  50. with some other people from Sydney or the Central African Republic

  51. where Christians have been killed at the hands of Muslim tribes in recent days,

  52. 300 people.

  53. They're having days of mourning right now for 300 people that have been killed in the last few weeks.

  54. If I was a member of one of those families and experiencing the seriousness of the suffering

  55. which they are going through at this point of time,

  56. then it might be a very easy thing for me to pray,

  57. Come Lord Jesus.

  58. Come Lord Jesus.

  59. Rescue us from this terrible mess.

  60. Save us from this time of trial.

  61. So when I was growing up, everybody had a bit to say about Christ's coming.

  62. I was told when I was at theological college that there were American leaders in the Reagan years

  63. who were linked to the administration.

  64. This is back in the 1980s.

  65. And they believed that God had given them the ability to push the nuclear button

  66. and trigger a nuclear war.

  67. And in their mind they could do that because they could see such circumstances

  68. precipitating the return of Christ with this nuclear Armageddon.

  69. They're helping God along by making things happen for him.

  70. That's the mentality.

  71. At the same time, early 1980s, around the corner from Coorong in West Dride,

  72. there was a church that met upstairs in one of the buildings there.

  73. And they made a name for themselves around Sydney because for a period of 12 or 18 months

  74. they drove around in vans which proclaimed the return of Christ and the specific date when it was going to occur.

  75. And you could go to one of those, their church, and you could be sure that their minister was serious about what he was saying.

  76. He wasn't trying to lead people astray.

  77. But he had a group of people gathered around him who were dead set certain it was a matter of faith that this date,

  78. I forget what it was, Christ was going to return.

  79. And as it drew near and the night arrived, the Sydney media were onto it and they were gathered outside

  80. and the television networks were broadcasting throughout the evening.

  81. Not because they were expecting Jesus to return, they were expecting it to fall on their face.

  82. And that's what happened.

  83. Though the night wore on, Jesus didn't return, it got later and later, it got into the early hours of the morning

  84. and finally people started to come out of the building and go home looking very disillusioned

  85. because they had had this strong faith that Jesus was about to do something,

  86. that God was about to do something in our midst.

  87. And it didn't happen.

  88. We experienced the bazaar.

  89. A Catholic community down the south coast of New South Wales.

  90. There was a bloke called William Cam who was known as the Little Pebble.

  91. Well, the Little Pebble went to prison in 2006 convicted of repeated child sexual abuse.

  92. He led this Catholic community which was anticipating the return of Christ, the end of the world.

  93. There's a whole heap of quotes I could read to you but let me just read one.

  94. He said,

  95. Many people believe a nuclear war might never happen but within the framework of the year 2000 to 2004,

  96. during the Third World War, China will attack Japan, Asia and Russia will come to the aid of Europe

  97. and it is to be noted that Russia will attack the United States from or through Alaska via Cuba.

  98. It hasn't happened.

  99. In 1925, a group of people in Sydney from the Theosophical Society spent £10,000,

  100. which was a huge sum of money.

  101. I wish I'd turned it into today's language but I haven't,

  102. to build an amphitheatre down at Balmoral Beach, a Grand Pavilion,

  103. which I don't think is there anymore but it was called the Star Amphitheatre

  104. and they were expecting the second coming of Jesus Christ

  105. and they built it in that place because they were going to sit there in the stands

  106. and welcome his arrival as he walked on the water through Sydney Heads.

  107. Thank you.

  108. Thank you.

  109. Thank you.

  110. Thank you.

  111. Thank you.

  112. Thank you.

  113. I keep this.

  114. I treasure this book.

  115. I treasure it because it's rubbish but I treasure it.

  116. It's written by a man called John Cable.

  117. In 1981, when I've been a Christian for years,

  118. John Cable, Deputy Principal at Frenchess Forest High School,

  119. not far away, wrote this book called Stir Up Your Mind, The Trumpet Will Sound

  120. and he resigned his job in the school

  121. to dedicate himself for the next 12 months of living for Christ

  122. and proclaiming to people that Jesus is going to return in 1982

  123. because he's been into the scriptures

  124. and he is convinced by the scriptures,

  125. especially the passages in Daniel,

  126. that this is when these things are going to happen.

  127. If you sat in his church,

  128. you'd probably think he was a good bloke,

  129. a sincere Christian,

  130. but what do we need to be able to say about these things?

  131. What is wrong with them, all of them?

  132. The polite word is rubbish.

  133. I've got a better word and I don't think I can use it.

  134. It's rubbish.

  135. It's rubbish.

  136. We ran this in our small group the other night

  137. and it's interesting because even within our small group,

  138. we could say it was rubbish and we knew why it was rubbish

  139. because there's a whole lot of scriptures that you can go to

  140. where Jesus says no one knows the day or the hour

  141. and we'll go there in a minute.

  142. But even as we sat in our small group,

  143. I think within our group,

  144. we would be persuaded by someone who was amongst us,

  145. who seemed like a nice person,

  146. who seemed to know their Bible

  147. and who seemed to be able to unfold things for us.

  148. And it's protective of the people of God

  149. for us to know the scriptures

  150. and it's sometimes alright for us to say to one another,

  151. that's rubbish.

  152. I don't mean in an ungodly way,

  153. but there's some things that we can believe

  154. that actually cause a lot of harm

  155. and this is one of them.

  156. This is rubbish.

  157. Now in a sense,

  158. speculation about the return of Jesus

  159. began with Jesus himself.

  160. He caused it.

  161. Days before his death,

  162. he said to his friends,

  163. I hope he'd laugh with me if I said that

  164. in his presence,

  165. which is in his presence

  166. because his spirit's here,

  167. but days before his death,

  168. he said to his friends,

  169. John 14 verse 2,

    John 14:2

  170. in my father's house are many rooms,

  171. if it were not so,

  172. I would have told you.

  173. And I am going there to prepare a place for you.

  174. And if I go and prepare a place for you,

  175. I will come back and take you to be with me

  176. that you also may be where I am.

  177. So what's he saying?

  178. He's saying,

  179. I'm going,

  180. I'm coming back,

  181. I will get you

  182. and I will take you to be where I am.

  183. Jesus spoke very definite words

  184. to his friends and his followers

  185. and at the end of chapter 14,

  186. he said again,

  187. do not let your hearts be troubled

  188. and do not be afraid

  189. you heard me say that I'm going away

  190. and I'm coming back to you.

  191. If you loved me,

  192. you would be glad that I am going to the father

  193. for the father is greater than I

  194. and I have told you now before it happens

  195. so that when it does happen,

  196. you will believe.

  197. Forty days later,

  198. Jesus speaks his last words

  199. in the sight of his disciples

  200. in Acts chapter one,

  201. maybe 50 days later

  202. and he says to them,

  203. it is not for you to know the times

  204. or the dates the father has set

  205. by his own authority,

  206. but you will receive power

  207. when the Holy Spirit comes on you

  208. and you will be my witnesses

  209. in Jerusalem

  210. and in all Judea and Samaria

  211. and to the ends of the earth.

  212. And after he had said this,

  213. he was taken up before their very eyes

  214. and a cloud hid him from their side.

  215. And they were looking intently up into the sky

  216. as he was going

  217. when suddenly two men dressed in white

  218. stood beside them.

  219. Men of Galilee, they said,

  220. why do you stand here looking into the sky?

  221. This same Jesus

  222. that has been taken from you into heaven

  223. will come back in the same way

  224. that you have seen him go into heaven.

  225. So the disciples have been asking about the future

  226. and Jesus is pretty blunt.

  227. He doesn't say rubbish like this,

  228. but he says,

  229. that's my father's business.

  230. They want to know about the future?

  231. That's my father's business.

  232. That's for him to know

  233. and he will act when he is ready.

  234. But in the meantime,

  235. he will empower you

  236. by the Spirit of God

  237. to be his witnesses to the world.

  238. Now we're going to pick up this idea

  239. over the next couple of weeks.

  240. The curtain is coming down

  241. on Jesus' first visit.

  242. He was here for a time.

  243. He went away

  244. and while he is away,

  245. we haven't been left alone.

  246. God has sent his Spirit upon believers

  247. so that we can still function

  248. as his witnesses into all the world.

  249. Now there's a few ideas

  250. which are tucked in here.

  251. It comes out of Acts chapter 1.

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  252. We live between the two comings of God

  253. into his world.

  254. He defines history.

  255. We live between his first coming

  256. and his second coming.

  257. The last 2,000 years

  258. are not just dark ages

  259. and middle ages

  260. and renaissance

  261. and reformation

  262. and industrial revolution

  263. and now the information age.

  264. The 20th century

  265. was not merely marked

  266. by two world wars.

  267. We are defined

  268. by something even greater.

  269. We live between the first

  270. and the second coming

  271. of Jesus Christ

  272. into the world.

  273. And so God

  274. who stepped into our world

  275. almost unnoticed

  276. as a baby

  277. in Bethlehem

  278. will come again

  279. and be noticed

  280. by everyone.

  281. So the second coming

  282. isn't going to be

  283. a hidden coming.

  284. It's going to be

  285. a seen coming

  286. and it will be noticed

  287. by everybody

  288. at the same time.

  289. In Acts chapter 1

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  290. he goes up into the clouds

  291. while the disciples

  292. they're craning their necks

  293. and wondering

  294. what's going on

  295. and Revelation chapter 1

    Revelation 1:7

  296. verse 7

  297. look,

  298. he describes his return.

  299. Look,

  300. he is coming

  301. with the clouds

  302. and every eye

  303. will see him

  304. even those

  305. who pierced him

  306. and all the peoples

  307. of the earth

  308. will mourn

  309. because of him

  310. and so shall it be.

  311. Amen.

  312. So history

  313. is about God's purposes

  314. and Jesus'

  315. clear statement

  316. of intent

  317. to his disciples

  318. is that they will be

  319. his witnesses

  320. to all the world.

  321. That's our mission.

  322. It's the defining purpose

  323. of God's church.

  324. God has empowered us

  325. by his spirit

  326. to communicate

  327. by our lives

  328. and by our words

  329. the love of God

  330. and the kingship of Christ

  331. to the world.

  332. It's a great privilege.

  333. So when we think

  334. about who we are

  335. as a church

  336. Christ's intentions

  337. for us

  338. must be first

  339. and foremost

  340. in our thinking

  341. and that is

  342. as much as we come together

  343. to strengthen each other

  344. in a gathering

  345. like this tonight

  346. he wants us

  347. out there

  348. in the world

  349. declaring the true things

  350. about Christ

  351. to the people

  352. that we know

  353. and he doesn't just

  354. want us declaring it

  355. he gives us

  356. the power

  357. to be able

  358. to influence

  359. men and women

  360. and boys and girls

  361. who are out there

  362. around us.

  363. Now it's true

  364. 2,000 years later

  365. affluent north shore

  366. of Sydney

  367. and Jesus coming

  368. just seems

  369. a little bit slow

  370. and maybe even

  371. a little bit quaint.

  372. People had an expectation

  373. of him coming back

  374. in their lifetime.

  375. They'd heard the angel

  376. say why do you stand here

  377. looking into the sky

  378. this same Jesus

  379. who has been taken

  380. from you into heaven

  381. will come back

  382. in the same way

  383. that you have seen him

  384. go into heaven.

  385. Other people

  386. had heard Jesus

  387. say that he would return.

  388. A number of places

  389. in the New Testament

  390. express expectations

  391. differently.

  392. In Luke chapter 17

    Luke 17 chapter mention

  393. Jesus says

  394. just as it was

  395. in the days of Noah

  396. so also it will be

  397. in the days

  398. of the Son of Man.

  399. People were eating

  400. and drinking

  401. and marrying

  402. and being given

  403. in marriage

  404. up until the day

  405. that Noah

  406. entered the ark

  407. and then the flood

  408. came and destroyed

  409. them all.

  410. So Jesus

  411. is sort of saying

  412. well life goes on

  413. the world

  414. the world turns

  415. people get hitched

  416. and sometimes

  417. unhitched

  418. Noah built his ark

  419. something that took

  420. a hundred years

  421. until the judgment

  422. came

  423. and plenty of people

  424. must have been there

  425. shaking their heads

  426. at this strange man

  427. building this strange

  428. vessel in the desert.

  429. Ridiculous.

  430. Jesus' first coming

  431. was a long time ago

  432. it seems remote

  433. and it seems

  434. distant

  435. and maybe

  436. a little foolish

  437. to believe in it.

  438. Second coming.

  439. But his followers

  440. thought differently.

  441. They expected

  442. his imminent return

  443. they were living life

  444. expecting Jesus

  445. to come back

  446. very very soon.

  447. and so it became

  448. a very serious

  449. problem for them

  450. when fellow believers

  451. died before Jesus

  452. returned.

  453. And you come to

  454. this passage

  455. in 1 Thessalonians

    1 Thessalonians 4 chapter mention

  456. chapter 4

  457. and Paul is writing

  458. a pastoral response

  459. to a very real world

  460. problem.

  461. Our brothers and

  462. sisters have died

  463. Jesus hasn't come

  464. back

  465. what's their status

  466. where are they

  467. with the Lord?

  468. And he says

  469. brothers and sisters

  470. we do not want you

  471. to be ignorant

  472. about those

  473. who fall asleep

  474. or to grieve

  475. like the rest

  476. of people

  477. who have no hope.

  478. We believe

  479. that Jesus died

  480. and rose again

  481. and so we believe

  482. that God

  483. will bring with Jesus

  484. those who have

  485. fallen asleep

  486. in him.

  487. According to

  488. the Lord's own word

  489. we tell you

  490. that we who are

  491. still alive

  492. who are left

  493. until the coming

  494. of the Lord

  495. will certainly

  496. not precede

  497. those who have

  498. fallen asleep.

  499. For the Lord

  500. himself will come

  501. down from heaven

  502. with a loud command

  503. with the voice

  504. of the archangel

  505. and with the trumpet

  506. call of God

  507. and the dead

  508. in Christ

  509. will rise first

  510. and after that

  511. we who are still

  512. alive and are left

  513. will be caught up

  514. together with them

  515. in the clouds

  516. to meet the Lord

  517. in the air

  518. and so we will be

  519. with the Lord

  520. forever.

  521. Therefore encourage

  522. each other

  523. with these words.

  524. He's saying to them

  525. don't worry

  526. they won't miss out

  527. death won't cheat

  528. you out of the joy

  529. of God's

  530. Christ's return

  531. Christ will bring

  532. his people with

  533. them.

  534. Death does not

  535. defeat the purposes

  536. of God.

  537. Christians believe

  538. very distinctive

  539. things about life

  540. after death.

  541. We believe in the

  542. resurrection of all

  543. people.

  544. people.

  545. We don't believe

  546. in reincarnation

  547. one cycle of life

  548. to another

  549. one creature

  550. to another.

  551. We don't believe

  552. in annihilation

  553. back to dust

  554. with no further

  555. consequences.

  556. We believe in

  557. the resurrection

  558. of all people

  559. to face the

  560. judgment of God

  561. and ultimate

  562. responsibility

  563. accountability.

  564. We believe in

  565. the justice of God

  566. which does not

  567. allow us to

  568. escape

  569. responsibility.

  570. We believe in

  571. the mercy of God

  572. in the Lord

  573. Jesus Christ

  574. which allows us

  575. to stand safe

  576. at the judgment.

  577. When we recite

  578. the Apostles

  579. Creed we did a

  580. little while ago

  581. we say that we

  582. believe in the

  583. resurrection of

  584. the dead.

  585. And so for the

  586. Christian person

  587. the return of the

  588. Lord Jesus Christ

  589. is full of hope.

  590. Faith in him

  591. will be vindicated

  592. when we see him

  593. face to face.

  594. Believers who

  595. have died the

  596. most horrible

  597. deaths through

  598. the ages

  599. will stand before

  600. the resurrected

  601. Christ with

  602. their own

  603. magnificently

  604. resurrected bodies.

  605. Every one of

  606. our friends and

  607. relatives will

  608. stand before the

  609. Lord Jesus and

  610. acknowledge him

  611. as king.

  612. it's a really

  613. interesting thought

  614. because most of

  615. us have friends

  616. and associates

  617. and relatives

  618. that we would be

  619. really pleased to

  620. meet again

  621. and then there's a

  622. few others that

  623. we think oh no

  624. not them.

  625. that brings me to

  626. what I think is the

  627. most important

  628. question for us

  629. and it's about

  630. us.

  631. How will you

  632. experience the

  633. second coming of

  634. the Lord Jesus?

  635. It's a question

  636. for me too.

  637. What will his

  638. coming mean to

  639. me and to

  640. you?

  641. The early

  642. Christians proclaimed

  643. Jesus as God's

  644. judge of all

  645. people.

  646. The Apostle

  647. Peter said in

  648. Acts chapter 10

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  649. he commanded us

  650. to preach to the

  651. people and to

  652. testify that he

  653. is the one whom

  654. God appointed as

  655. judge of the

  656. living and the

  657. dead.

  658. All the prophets

  659. testify about him

  660. that everyone who

  661. believes in him

  662. receives forgiveness

  663. of sins through

  664. his name.

  665. Philippians chapter

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  666. 2 has this

  667. magnificent song

  668. of Jesus'

  669. kingship.

  670. God exalted

  671. him to the

  672. highest place

  673. and gave him

  674. the name that

  675. is above every

  676. name.

  677. That at the

  678. name of Jesus

  679. every knee should

  680. bow in heaven

  681. and on earth

  682. and under the

  683. earth and every

  684. tongue confess

  685. that Jesus Christ

  686. is Lord to the

  687. glory of God

  688. the Father.

  689. So the

  690. resurrection

  691. isn't just for

  692. believers, it is

  693. for unbelievers as

  694. well.

  695. Every person will

  696. bow before Jesus

  697. Christ and will

  698. acknowledge his

  699. kingship.

  700. His reality and

  701. his truth will be

  702. absolutely inescapable.

  703. We won't be able to

  704. stand there debating

  705. with Dawkins on that

  706. day about whether he's

  707. real or not.

  708. We will be confronted

  709. by a very inconvenient

  710. reality.

  711. Revelation chapter 20

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

  712. describes the judgment

  713. of all people.

  714. I saw a great white

  715. throne and him who

  716. was seated on it

  717. and earth and sky

  718. fled from his

  719. presence and there

  720. was no place for

  721. them.

  722. And I saw the dead

  723. great and small

  724. standing before the

  725. throne.

  726. The books were

  727. opened and another

  728. book was opened which

  729. is the book of life.

  730. The dead were judged

  731. according to what they

  732. had done as recorded

  733. in the books.

  734. The sea gave up the

  735. dead that were in it

  736. and death and Hades

  737. gave up the dead that

  738. were in them and each

  739. person was judged

  740. according to what he

  741. had done.

  742. And then death and

  743. Hades were thrown into

  744. the lake of fire.

  745. The lake of fire is the

  746. second death.

  747. death.

  748. And if anyone's name

  749. was not found written

  750. in the book of life,

  751. he was thrown into

  752. the lake of fire.

  753. Death is not a way of

  754. escape for anyone

  755. because there is a

  756. second death.

  757. I heard a lovely talk

  758. that life here is

  759. pretty difficult for

  760. believers sometimes.

  761. In fact, for all

  762. people at one time or

  763. another.

  764. A friend of mine,

  765. Jonathan Dykes,

  766. was doing a mission

  767. down the south coast

  768. of New South Wales

  769. and he interacted

  770. with a couple of

  771. blokes and this one

  772. bloke in particular

  773. said he has quite a

  774. difficult time in his

  775. workplace.

  776. He really is persecuted

  777. because he's a

  778. Christian.

  779. His boss just gives

  780. him a terribly hard

  781. time.

  782. And Jonathan said,

  783. so how long has that

  784. been going on?

  785. And the guy said,

  786. 35 years.

  787. And he said, I had

  788. another friend, he

  789. worked with me for

  790. 25, but he went

  791. somewhere else after

  792. 25, he couldn't

  793. handle it anymore.

  794. But this world, and I

  795. don't know if it's

  796. school for you or

  797. uni for you or back

  798. into your family,

  799. whatever it is, is not

  800. a pretty place to live.

  801. And it's not just for

  802. Christians, it's for

  803. people who aren't

  804. Christians as well.

  805. The difficulties of

  806. life come upon us all

  807. in different measures

  808. and at different

  809. times.

  810. But the return of

  811. Jesus will see a

  812. great reversal of

  813. fortunes.

  814. Those who have

  815. trusted and believed

  816. in him will be

  817. vindicated for the

  818. whole world to see.

  819. We will have been

  820. the knowers who

  821. plugged away at

  822. building the rescue

  823. ship while everyone

  824. else thought that we

  825. were fools.

  826. We will be safe.

  827. But in the meantime,

  828. we are the people of

  829. God that he has sent

  830. into the world to tell

  831. people about Christ and

  832. to live for Christ.

  833. All of us will

  834. experience the return

  835. of the Lord Jesus

  836. Christ.

  837. It's going to be in

  838. one of two ways.

  839. He will come back

  840. while we are still

  841. alive in the way that

  842. the whole world will

  843. see.

  844. Or we will experience

  845. being raised from the

  846. dead after our death

  847. and brought alive into

  848. the presence of

  849. Christ.

  850. And that day will be

  851. either joyous beyond

  852. expression or devastating

  853. in the most appalling

  854. way.

  855. We will be people of

  856. faith welcoming

  857. the Saviour whom we

  858. have trusted and

  859. hoped for and who

  860. has written our

  861. names in the Lamb's

  862. Book of Life.

  863. Or we will be amongst

  864. those who despised and

  865. rejected the wonderful

  866. rescuer that God has

  867. sent, who has come

  868. once and who will

  869. certainly come again.

  870. And the wonderful thing

  871. about the return of

  872. Christ being slow is

  873. that those who have not

  874. yet believed him still

  875. have time to turn and to

  876. come into his safe

  877. presence.

  878. There's still time for

  879. friends and workmates and

  880. school friends and

  881. relatives to respond to the

  882. wonderful invitation of the

  883. Son of God to come to him

  884. and to find forgiveness and

  885. rescue.

  886. So those of us who do know

  887. Christ, we are still under

  888. orders.

  889. We are not alone.

  890. He has given us his spirit

  891. and he has sent us as his

  892. witnesses into this vast

  893. world.

  894. It's almost like he's put on

  895. rescue uniform.

  896. You know, he's given us

  897. orange overalls and he's sent

  898. us out with a message which

  899. can make people absolutely

  900. safe when Jesus returns,

  901. which he certainly will.

  902. Amen.
