  2. Psalm 116, very easy to find just open your Bible and you'll

  3. come to Psalms Psalm 116 and we're going to take the trouble

  4. tonight to read the entirety of the psalm. 19 verses.

  5. Let's hear the word of God, of course.

  6. It's never a trouble or a bother to hear the word of God.

  7. Psalm 116 will read from verse 1.

  8. Let's hear the Lord. What Lords words.

  9. I love the Lord because he hath heard my voice and my

  10. supplication because he hath inclined his ear unto me.

  11. Therefore, will I call upon him as long as I live?

  12. The Sorrows of death compassed me.

  13. The paeans of Hale got hold upon me.

  14. I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of

  15. the Lord. Oh, Lord, I beseech thee.

  16. Deliver. My soul.

  17. Gracious is the Lord and righteousness.

  18. Yay. Power.

  19. God is merciful. The Lord.

  20. Preserve with the simple. I was brought low and he helped

  21. me return on to thy rest O, my soul for the Lord has dealt

  22. bountifully with thee. For thy was delivered, my soul

  23. from Death. Mine eyes from tears and my feet

  24. from falling. I will walk before the Lord in

  25. the land. If the lever I believed

  26. therefore, have I spoken, I was greatly Afflicted.

  27. I said in my he hissed. All men are liars.

  28. What shall I Render unto the Lord for all?

  29. His benefits toward me. I will take the cup of Salvation

  30. and call upon the name of the Lord.

  31. I will pay my vows on to the Lord.

  32. Now, in the presence of all his people precious in the sight of

  33. the Lord is the death of his seat.

  34. Sense. Lord truly I am thy servant.

  35. I am that. I serve and the son of thine

  36. hand me the highest list my bones.

  37. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of Thanksgiving and

  38. we'll call upon the name of the Lord.

  39. I will pay my vows on to the Lord.

  40. Now in the presence of all his people in the courts of the

  41. Lord's House and the midst of thee.

  42. O Jerusalem, praise. Ye the Lord.

  43. Amen, we trust and pray God and Stompers one approval and

  44. blessing this reading of the Holy scriptures.

  45. Now, my text tonight is taken from Psalm 116.

  46. And the verse 15 and it reads as follows precious in the sight of

  47. the Lord is the death of his sins.

  48. And my theme. This evening is the precious

  49. death of the saints of God. Now, for a number of weeks

  50. before Easter, we have been Thinking about the theme, the

  51. precious things of God and the Bible.

  52. And previously, I told you there were 72 references in the Bible.

  53. Hey lighting, the things that are most precious to the Lord.

  54. A lot of references are, I know the word.

  55. Precious means, highly valued something to be greatly

  56. esteemed. Something to be mostly

  57. treasured. And many weeks ago.

  58. I preached in the first message. The precious thoughts of God.

  59. Psalm 139 verse has 23 24. And what a lovely thought that

  60. is that God, Almighty is thinking of you.

  61. And me tonight, that we are in the thoughts of God, and then,

  62. we looked at the precious word of God for Samuel, free and one

  63. and the word of the Lord was precious in those days.

  64. And what a treasure, the word of God is a word in our own mother

  65. tongue, a word that we can read and recite and public and then

  66. private. Without fear or favor, we can

  67. say, like, a hood. I have a message from God for

  68. you. Remember the word of God is

  69. quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword.

  70. The third servant had to do with the precious blood of Christ

  71. first, Peter, 1:18 and 19 of. We told you then we repeat

  72. again, the doctrine of the blood lies at the very heart of the

  73. Gospel. The dr.

  74. P is Lee used to always say to us your students, to make much

  75. of the blood. That he was quoting another

  76. Scottish Divine called, Alexander white.

  77. And of course, we in the Free Church, make much of the blood

  78. and are preaching in her praying and also in our previous.

  79. And then we thought for flip out the preciousness of Faith,

  80. second Peter 2 and one. True faith is a gift.

  81. It's obtained. The object of faith.

  82. Of course is God and Christ. I'm true.

  83. Faith operates are works by the principle of love.

  84. The first message had to do with the precious Promises of God.

  85. Second, Peter, 1 and 4. And I told you there's something

  86. like 7300, very great and precious promises in the book.

  87. And every one of them is. Yeah.

  88. And a man to those who are in Christ Jesus, every promise is

  89. like a blank check signed by Christ, and you can bring it to

  90. the bank of Heaven. You can cash it and you can say

  91. to God do this in Jesus name. Then we thought about the

  92. preciousness of redemption, a few weeks ago, from sound, 49

  93. verses here tonight. Then we thought about the

  94. precious sons of Zion Lamentations 4 and 2.

  95. A few weeks ago we consider what I perceived to be the most

  96. precious thing of all in the eyes of God.

  97. That's the preciousness of Christ first Peter 1:2 and seven

    1 Peter 1:2

  98. unto you, therefore, which believe he is precious.

  99. And I told you them out of the 72 references in the Bible, to

  100. the precious things of God, seven times and Peter's letters.

  101. The word precious is used. Chapter 1 6 & 7 chapter 119,

  102. chapter 2 verse 4. Chapter 2 Verse 6, chapter 2

  103. verse 7, second Peter 1, verse 1 and second Peter, chapter 1,

    2 Peter 1:1 2 Peter 1:4

  104. verse 4. V reference.

  105. It involves God's dear son. Jesus Christ.

  106. Five remember in the Bible, as the number of Grace of what a

  107. gracious Revelation, Jesus Christ, is to the soul in the

  108. fullness of his personal work. No.

  109. Tonight are those 72 references to the precious things of God in

  110. the Bible, as one that I've given a very strange title.

  111. The precious death of the saints of God.

  112. The text says precious in the sight of the Lord is the death

  113. of his sins. They have a question tonight.

  114. How can death ever be turned precious?

  115. Is there such a thing as a precious death?

  116. Is there such a thing as i unpressurized f?

  117. I believe the answer to those questions is.

  118. Yes, there is think of the text Psalm 116 verse 15 precious in

    Psalms 116:15

  119. the sight of the Lord is the death of his sins.

  120. Now, you three things I want to leave with you this evening.

  121. I want you to think first of all, of the principle of death

  122. that's mentioned. If you isolate the word, death

  123. underline, it, let's learn this. The death is the universal

  124. experience of all. They're all must needs die.

  125. Every one of us will only ever escaped death by the second

  126. Advent of Jesus Christ to this earth, those who are alive and

  127. remain unto the coming of Christ.

  128. When he returns will be caught up.

  129. Meet them and the air. And they'll be given a new body

  130. like Ananda has glorious body, but generally, the Kia says this

  131. Hebrews 9:27 and as it is appointed unto man once to die.

    Hebrews 9:27

  132. And after death the Judgment death remember is By Appointment

  133. death comes at the end of life. And we could talk tonight about

  134. the universality of death death. Came about remember as a

  135. consequence. All of the fall and of sin into

  136. the world. And we think, again of what the

  137. Apostle Paul stated, and Romans, chapter 5 and in the verse 12

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  138. wherefore as by one man, sin entered into the world and death

  139. by sin and so death passed upon all men for that.

  140. All have sinned and over there in the book of second, Samuel in

  141. second Samuel chapter 14, and in the verse Retain it was Samuel.

    2 Samuel 14 chapter mention

  142. The prophet who made this statement for we must needs die

  143. and artist water spelt. And the drawing, which cannot be

  144. gathered up again. Neither does God respect, and he

  145. person yet, Dorothy devise means that his bank wished be not

  146. expelled from him. Isn't it strange in Genesis,

    Genesis 5 chapter mention

  147. chapter 5? For example, we read the words

  148. aren't he died. Were given their a list of man

  149. that enjoyed greed longevity. They lived for hundreds of

  150. years. The oldest amongst them, was a

  151. man called Methuselah Methuselah lived to 996.

  152. Sorry 969 years. That was a long time.

  153. That was a long life. Imagine living to your hunger.

  154. But but that's mine was heading towards the Thousand Years 969

  155. years, but, you know, worried off him and he died.

  156. They're naturally. When it comes to the subject of

  157. dear death, we hit it, we lose it.

  158. We shun it. We don't want the fierce up to

  159. it. We shy away from, but here's the

  160. reality. One day, it's going to happen

  161. one day. I'll die.

  162. One day you'll die. It will happen.

  163. Death has been called the king of Terrors.

  164. Dr. Peaslee used to coined the phrase under Terror of Kings the

  165. Apostle Paul called it The Last Enemy to be destroyed.

  166. Some talk about the Grim Reaper. And of course the Grim Reaper is

  167. not a friend. When the Grim Reaper comes we

  168. could really say the Grim Reaper as a fool and over in the Book

  169. of Job and Chapter 14 verse 10. We read But Mom and I, and we

  170. wish to the way, ye man gives up The Ghost and where is he?

  171. This is true. If all this is true of

  172. Christians and non-christians, doesn't matter if you're rich or

  173. /, does it matter if you're educated or uneducated?

  174. It doesn't matter if you're a strong believer or a week

  175. believer. And the reality is that when

  176. death comes the death of a, loved one that brings grief into

  177. the home, it fills us with a sense of sadness.

  178. We shed tears. There's a sense of Pian and

  179. Applause. The stress.

  180. Many are filled with Gloom and fear at the thought and the

  181. prospect of death and it's a very strange subject.

  182. I a sad subject, a straw, a strong subject, but look at the

  183. text. You see, death is not to be

  184. totally considered. Are viewed as all Gloom as all

  185. sadness, has all to do with tears and distress and peer.

  186. The Bible tells us in Revelation 14 verse 13, blessed are the

    Revelation 14:13

  187. dead which die in the Lord. The word blessed is one of the

  188. Beatitudes and it means literally in colloquial terms

  189. with the happiness or happy happiness.

  190. They think about it. Happy happy are the dead which

  191. die in the Lord. You see Watson view here in our

  192. text. Is the death of a True Believer?

  193. It's only their death that is precious in the sight of God.

  194. The death of old man is not precious and is saying death.

  195. Yes, is heartbreaking. Yes, Dad can be a sad event.

  196. But listen to What God Says. In Ezekiel 33 and verse 1 verse

  197. 11. I have no pleasure.

  198. In the death of the wicked. There's a big difference between

  199. the death of one of the redeem children of God and the death of

  200. someone who's a rebel to go. And the wonderful thing is this.

  201. That is only the child of God, that's in view here.

  202. And no matter who we are, we're all included some of his date at

  203. the stake Fierce, the fire of persecution.

  204. Maybe someone who's dated see and they never had a body.

  205. Maybe someone who's died in the company of family and friends.

  206. Somebody who's dead at home, or in a hospital or died in the

  207. Battle because it doesn't matter who they are or where they're

  208. date, or the way that they'd if they're a child of God, if the

  209. redeemed and washed in the precious blood of Christ and

  210. blessed, are the dead, which die in the Lord.

  211. I want you to think not only of the principle of death is

  212. mentioned, but I want you to think of the participants of

  213. death that that's mentioned. If you look at the tax, very

  214. carefully. It says precious in the sight of

  215. the Lord is the death of his sins.

  216. Now, think of the words, the death of his sins.

  217. That's a remarkable statement, doesn't it?

  218. The sience, referred to the holy ones.

  219. That is one who's in a saving relationship with him, his sins,

  220. one that he has chose one that he is called one that he has

  221. cared for one that he has cleansed one that he has

  222. Commissioned. I want to make it clear tonight

  223. that the word cience here has nothing to do with those who

  224. have died under through the process of be efficacious as

  225. Taught by the Church of Rome. Of course, the Church of Rome

  226. teaches that after a period of time, someone who has died as a

  227. faithful adherents to Roman Catholicism.

  228. And when it's been discovered, that they did a few Miracles.

  229. I think it has to be too, and that has to be Witnesses and

  230. their phone usually happens over a period of hundreds of years

  231. and then they're declared to be. I sinned and that's of course

  232. the first step towards being a vacation and beatification is a

  233. process. No.

  234. Know this word cience here has nothing to do with those

  235. so-called science, designated to be scenes by the Church of Rome.

  236. They, the reference is to individuals who are since before

  237. they died. Not after they died.

  238. They were sience because they were part.

  239. And parcel of the people of God, the holy ones of God who were

  240. redeemed and washed in the precious blood of Christ.

  241. Literally, it's a reference to two living sense.

  242. If you turned over there to Ephesians chapter 1, for a

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  243. moment, Ephesians 1 and look with me at verse 1.

  244. It says there, Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of

  245. God to this sience which are at Ephesus and to the faithful in

  246. Christ Jesus. In other words.

  247. It's living seems he, says the same thing in the book of

  248. Philippians and for In chapter 1 and in the verse 1 again, we

  249. have the same or similar information, Paul, and

  250. timotheus. The Servants of Jesus Christ, to

  251. all the saints in Christ Jesus, which are at Philippi.

  252. In other words. They're living and breathing

  253. interventions. They're found in Christ.

  254. They love for Christ and they live out their Christian Life,

  255. Through the strength and power of Christ.

  256. And one day. They've got the Assurance on the

  257. anticipation that they're going to be with Christ.

  258. In other words. They're saying they've been

  259. legally declared righteous by the death and blood shedding of

  260. Jesus Christ that they're not called since by virtue of their

  261. own goodness or morality or uprightness.

  262. You think of the Hem tonight. Only a sinner.

  263. See of by Greece. And one of the greatest verses

  264. in the Bible of second Corinthians, 5:21.

  265. You've got the doctrine of double amputation there for he,

  266. that is. God have made him not as Christ

  267. to be sin for us, or a sin offering who knew no sin that we

  268. might be me at the righteousness of God in him.

  269. You see, on the cross when you think of Christ and the cross,

  270. our sins with its guilt and Punishment was transferred to

  271. the account of Christ. In other words, it was reckoned

  272. to be his, he was treated as the biggest Sinner and criminal of

  273. all. And the Bible says Christ died

  274. for our sins, that that's what it means.

  275. It means that that our guilt and Punishment Due to sin was

  276. transferred to his, a kind Christ, bore our sins in his own

  277. body on the tree. And then, because of the Perfect

  278. righteousness that he earned by a sinless life and earned by his

  279. atoning death, not perfect righteousness.

  280. The moment. We put our trust in him as Lord

  281. and Savior and his trance fair to put the are a kite and we're

  282. designated legally righteous in a sabre counted among those who

  283. are holy and pure since of God. See the sensor redeemed.

  284. The Saints are alive. The Saints are already has

  285. people. Now.

  286. Let me ask you tonight. Are you see it?

  287. Are you trusting in Christ as Jesus Christ, your lord and

  288. savior. Remember what?

  289. The Apostle Paul wrote when he was writing to Titus?

  290. And he says this in chapter 3. He says not by works of

  291. righteousness, which we have done.

  292. But according to his mercy of sieved, us by the washing of

  293. regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, which he shed on us

  294. abundantly through Jesus Christ, Our Lord that being justified by

  295. his grace. Should be made heirs according

  296. to the hope of eternal life. Now.

  297. You are you one of the since tonight.

  298. Are you redeemed? Have you ever testimony to the

  299. ceiling and keeping part of? Jesus Christ?

  300. They give the Hem. Have you been to Jesus for the

  301. cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of

  302. thought? That's a very important question

  303. because the answer to that question then determines your

  304. your legal status before God and how God designates you.

  305. Yeah. The participants of death that's

  306. mentioned. It's the death of his sins.

  307. That's important. You know, you're a sinner

  308. tonight, you know, you need to be sieved.

  309. You know, you've got a soul that needs to be saved.

  310. You know, you must be a child of God.

  311. If you want to be in heaven and you you want to die in Christ,

  312. then you've got to receive her but as many as received him to

  313. them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that

  314. believe on his name, and I press home that the question.

  315. Are you among the people of God? The participants of death that's

  316. mentioned at notice thirdly and quickly hear the perspectives of

  317. death. That's mentioned because it says

  318. in our text in the sight of the Lord you see we're getting here.

  319. God's view of things. We could view death from a man

  320. word point of view. Eunice.

  321. It is painful. It is sad.

  322. It does bring It grief into the heart.

  323. We do shed tears. We mourn here on Earth.

  324. But when we view death, but from a man word point of view, but

  325. from a god word point of view, God's view of death.

  326. It's completely different to our view of death because God's be

  327. of death is about his people. Remember.

  328. It's only the sense of God, that's clearly in view.

  329. God sees things differently from us.

  330. His thoughts are not our thoughts.

  331. His ways are not our thoughts. when Naaman, the leper came to

  332. be cleansed, he came to the door of Elisha, and he said, I

  333. thought Even was wrong. A natural Mounds View of death

  334. is not the same as gods. He death is not something

  335. precious to mankind. Death, Grieves death brings a

  336. sense of loss and be in and heartache and tears.

  337. I was thinking of the seasons of the Year thinking about tax them

  338. is a 64. It says we all do Fiat has a

  339. leaf and you think of the leaves and the tree in the Autumn, Tay

  340. heard you turn color. How does it begin to weather?

  341. But yet even as they turn color on begin to whether there's a

  342. beautifulness of like that saying and of course, many

  343. people go to the lack of Philadelphia or the go over to

  344. New England and you can see some of the most spectacular

  345. beautiful scenery in the Autumn time.

  346. And in the States of America all to do with the changing of the

  347. color of the leaves. Why?

  348. Here's the answer. They're dying.

  349. And the leaves will fall and they'll be born away with the

  350. one. And it's a picture of men.

  351. We all do feared as a leaf. And yet, I think of those that

  352. are carried away and time through the portal of death.

  353. I often think of fellows and Hartford Arnold's book at some

  354. party in heaven, all about their two boys.

  355. Disabled boys, who died 10 days apart Thomason and Ians lie, and

  356. you see some party in heaven as from God's Viewpoint because

  357. there is Jubilation and celebration.

  358. From God's Viewpoint, because God thinks about the death of

  359. his sins. It's in his sight.

  360. And it's only at always, in his say, in light of the death, of

  361. one of the sea. There's Haley precious greatly

  362. prized in the sight of god. Notice.

  363. Lastly. The prospect of death is

  364. mentioned and you've got the word here, precious in the sight

  365. of the Lord. Now why it?

  366. Let me close with this thought. Dance is a deliverance from Pain

  367. and sorrow life. We know it as a battle.

  368. We know that death as The ultimate penalty for sin, the

  369. wages of sin is death. The Bible tells us the soul that

  370. sinneth it shall die. Send when it brings sin when it

  371. is finished, bringeth forth death, and you see, sin, brought

  372. death into the world. That's why there is such a thing

  373. as the universality of death. Because there's the universality

  374. of sin and death. Not only are said, not only

  375. brought death, but bro, sickness and brought sadness.

  376. I'm brought suffering and heartache.

  377. I'm peeing, I'm problems. And that's why we have Or and

  378. I'm the manifestation of evil all around us.

  379. Where did it come from? It can be traced back to eaten.

  380. It can be traced back to the fall.

  381. It could be traced back to selling an atom.

  382. Remember job said, you'll 14 verse one, man.

  383. That is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble as the

  384. Sparks Fly upward. Suffering is our common lat.

  385. But, you know, the death. Of every believer, as a

  386. deliverance, from that pain, and suffering you think tonight of

  387. someone taking their last breath.

  388. Their eyes closed, their heart stops.

  389. Their physical life is over. Jobe.

  390. Ask the question. Where is He?

  391. Man dire, and we are still the way.

  392. Ye give up the ghost. Where is he?

  393. Well, we can say, well, he's delivered from peeing and

  394. sorrow. Doesn't the Bible, say in

  395. Revelation, 21, and for, and God shall wipe away all tears from

  396. their eyes. The Bible talks about No, More

  397. Death. Neither peeing, their sorrow,

  398. the former things are passed away.

  399. You see? I say that for this reason, we

  400. hear regularly of people who died.

  401. Death brings pee in a loss and grief into hearts and families

  402. and we hear this expression their suffering is over.

  403. I would say tonight. The suffering is over, only if

  404. they have died in Christ. If not, and I say this.

  405. With profound sadness in my heart.

  406. The suffering really has only begun but about suffering the

  407. paeans and torments of hell for all eternity.
