    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  3. The first 11 verses this very important chapter of Holy

  4. Scripture. Philippians chapter 2 will read

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  5. from verse 1. Let's hear the word of the Lord.

  6. And as the reading takes please, we encourage you to follow.

  7. What we need to hear the words, but see them on the page.

  8. Let's be thankful. Of course for the word of God

  9. and our own language for thankful to God.

  10. They have a faithful and reliable translation of holy

  11. scriptures and the authorized version.

  12. Let's hear the word of the Lord Philippians chapter 2 verse 1.

    Philippians 2:1

  13. If there be there for any consolation Christ, if any

  14. comfort of Love of any Fellowship of the spirit, if any

  15. bowels and mercies for fill, ye my joy that you be like-minded,

  16. having the same love being of one.

  17. Accord of one mind, let nothing be done.

  18. Through Strife or vainglory. But in lowliness of Mind, Let

  19. each esteem other better than themselves.

  20. Look, not every man that his own things, but every man also on

  21. the things of others, Let this mind be in you which was also in

  22. Christ. Jesus who being in the form of

  23. God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God but made

  24. himself of no reputation and took upon him.

  25. The form of a servant and was made in the likeness of man and

  26. being found in fashion. As a man.

  27. He humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the

  28. death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath.

  29. Highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every

  30. name that at the name of Jesus Christ, every knee should buy of

  31. things in heaven and things in Earth and things under the

  32. Earth. And that every tongue should

  33. confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the

  34. Father. Amen.

  35. We Do. Lord and stumbles on approval

  36. and glassing this reading of the Holy scriptures.

  37. Now, my text this morning as we continue, our series of messages

  38. in the book of Philippians is taken from Philippians chapter

    Philippians 2:6

  39. 2, verses 6 to eat. It reads as follows who being in

  40. the form of God. Thought it not robbery to be

  41. equal with God that made himself of no reputation and took upon

  42. him. The form of a servant was being

  43. the likeness of man being found in fashion as a man.

  44. He humbled himself and became obedient.

  45. The death, even the death of the Cross.

  46. No, my theme today is to consider the example of Jesus

  47. Christ. The God Mom now Philippians

    Philippians 2:5–11

  48. chapter 2 verses 5 to 11 as one of the most important passages

  49. in the entire Bible. It is one of the most profound

  50. christological portions of Holy Scripture, many reformed and

  51. Protestant scholars. Believe this is one of the best

  52. passages of the Bible to defend the doctrine of the Incarnation

  53. and explain that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.

  54. However, the Apostle Paul did not write these words under the

  55. inspiration of the Holy Spirit to theologians or to Scholars.

  56. It is not a mere, systematic. Theological lecture.

  57. The Apostle Paul is not using the tax to combat heresy or to

  58. denounce theological error. No.

  59. He is writing about the Practical matter of how true

  60. believers can get along with each other.

  61. The church in Philippi was facing a time of Discord and

  62. disunity and disharmony. And the Apostle Paul is

  63. stressing here, the need for Unity and Harmony in the local

  64. church. He is writing therefore to

  65. Common People to business, people in the church to

  66. Housewives. To act soldiers, may be serving

  67. soldiers to two young people to two sleeves to help them to live

  68. in harmony with one another. In other words, Philippians

    Philippians 2:5–11

  69. chapter 2, verses 5 through 11 is set in the context of a very

  70. practical matter. In order to live in harmony.

  71. One with another, I'm going to Spurt of hue Unity.

  72. They must cultivate the mind of Christ.

  73. He says, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ

  74. Jesus. And remember the sermon from

  75. last week. We encourage you to go to the

  76. website until listen to it. Again, they must cultivate the

  77. mind of Christ. It's very important.

  78. We thought about the portrait of Christ mind.

  79. What was Mind Lake and we said it was a sound made in dealing

  80. with others. We must have the attitude of

  81. Christ. He knew who he was and what did

  82. Kim to do. It was a single mind remained,

  83. satin pleasing his Heavenly Father.

  84. It was a spiritual main. He never had a evil or a bitter

  85. thought towards any individual his motives and his conversation

  86. was always an only sinlessly pure.

  87. We must. Pursue the mind of Christ.

  88. We must be selfless. To live in harmony and unity, we

  89. must learn to die to self must experience a life of self denial

  90. and life of self-sacrifice and humbly live for others for

  91. Christ's sake. And therefore, we must be

  92. submissive to the will of God. We must be steadfast in for felt

  93. God's purpose. And remember how knowing the

  94. mind of Christ is a powerful reality.

  95. But, here's the key to true, happiness, Holiness, and

  96. Harmony, and even the hope. Now, your weather Street the

  97. point, The Apostle Paul sets before us the person and work of

  98. Jesus Christ. Also superb, example, of supreme

  99. humility. And this solid theological

  100. understanding of who Christ is, is the very Foundation of

  101. promoting Harmony and unity among ourselves.

  102. Paul is saying in order to promote Harmony and unity, We

  103. must grow in humility by being modeled on, Jesus Christ, and

  104. his Incarnation, unders death. See we live in a day when people

  105. don't want Doctrine, they argue it's dry.

  106. It's it's divisive. It's boring.

  107. What we want. We want Harmony.

  108. We want Unity, we want life. You let me tell you this

  109. morning. You can't divorce, true Harmony

  110. and unity from the doctrine of Christ.

  111. And remember that God's Doctrine?

  112. True Doctrine centers in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

  113. And therefore, true Christians who want to live in harmony and

  114. unity with each other must learn to emiti.

  115. It uncultivated. Christ model of human.

  116. Day, and that's why the Apostle Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit

  117. stated Philippians, chapter 2, verses 5 to 11.

    Philippians 2:5–11

  118. That's the context. Yes.

  119. It's a profound theological statement.

  120. Yes. It's a wonderful treaties of of

  121. the doctrine of Christ, but none of never be divorced from the

  122. context. Now stressed out to you, at

  123. least until your three occasions, but I repeat that for

  124. emphasis so that you can grasp it.

  125. Remember the setting it. It's very important ever divorce

  126. a thing from its context. And the context is this profound

  127. theological statement about Christ, as sat in the context of

  128. Paul arguing for the need to model yourself on Christ.

  129. Humility, in order to promote Harmony and unity in the house

  130. of God. Now this morning, I have three

  131. things as we begin to open up this text as probably take a

  132. second sermon. It might even take a third

  133. servant so you'll have to bear. For me, I want you to consider

  134. first of all, the mystery of Christ person.

  135. Who is Jesus Christ? Now?

  136. If you look at the contacts, look at your book?

  137. Verse 5. Let this mind be in you which

  138. was also in Christ. Jesus.

  139. He mentions Christ Jesus. So we're going to ask the

  140. question. Well, who is Christ Jesus?

  141. Someone wrote a book one time and it was entitled will The

  142. Real Jesus Christ of Nazareth, please stand up.

  143. I'm we're giving the answer who he is in verse 6, who being in

  144. the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,

  145. not text of scripture. Has to do with his.

  146. Co eternality with the father. His coexistence with the father.

  147. I'm just going quality with the father.

  148. He one of the greatest and most profound events.

  149. And the whole of the world is the event known as the

  150. Incarnation of the god mer. That is the Eternal Son of God.

  151. God, the son, taking human flesh, taking a real human body,

  152. that with the properties of, of body and soul into Union, with

  153. his divine nature. And coming into this world, via

  154. the Virgin birth member 1st. Timothy, 3:16 greed is a must

  155. Godzilla's God was manifest in the flesh.

  156. Look with me at verse 6. Who being in the form of God.

  157. Never going to pause there? Because the word being means

  158. from the verb to be? Existent.

  159. It's a reference to has pre-existence before he was born

  160. of the Virgin Mary in the fullness of time.

  161. Jesus Christ is not a created being, he is the second person

  162. of the Triune God before he killed him before.

  163. He came to Bethlehem young people.

  164. He existed in the form of God. Now they're called.

  165. Say he came to exist. Or he entered into existence

  166. through the time, freedom is clearly Eterna.

  167. It's a reference to Eternity past the Apostle Paul, simply

  168. exerts, something that Jesus Christ existed eternally.

  169. Who being in the form of God. Now, the word form?

  170. It's important and I want you to know the meaning of it.

  171. The Greek word is morphe from which we get the English word of

  172. morphology and the word morphing means.

  173. What a thing is of itself. It's what is intrinsic or

  174. essential? To being in other words, what

  175. he's saying is that? Jesus Christ and he says, it's

  176. in the form of God is in the essential nature of God.

  177. Paul is saying that Jesus Christ in his nature in his character

  178. corresponds with the nature and character of God, the father,

  179. and he does so inherently. He'd also unchangeably, he does

  180. so eternally, let me explain. Dissuaded the word morphe ties

  181. into the Roman stump. Now if you want to post a letter

  182. today, you could enter the shop and you pay 60 in P or whatever

  183. it is. You put a first-class stamp on

  184. it and the Royal Mail delivers it but the way back in Roman

  185. times, they didn't have stamps. So what they did was when they

  186. had an important document that they wanted to be delivered to

  187. someone, they ruled the document up and they sealed it with a wax

  188. seal on. There was a ring stump pressed

  189. into the hot wax bearing. The insane Emperor Emperor's

  190. Insignia, and the impression in the wax was the exact

  191. representation of the Insignia on.

  192. The rain. We have some similar today's I

  193. think of a rubber stamp on ink when I'm filling in passports

  194. for the Republic of Ireland. I have to use my rubber stamp

  195. and rare. Thank and what's on the rubber

  196. stamp when I press it into the ink and put it onto the paper,

  197. as an exact impression and paper, the exact image of what

  198. is on the stamp. The Apostle Paul is saying, is

  199. this, that the relationship that Jesus Christ Bears to God, the

  200. Father? He is the exact image or the

  201. exact representation of who and what God is.

  202. Now. That's that's important because

  203. Jesus Christ is not a junior partner to God.

  204. He's not a created being, he's not one who's inferior to the

  205. father Jesus Christ as a fully-fledged member of the

  206. godhead. He's equal with the father and

  207. every respect. How do you seek will from

  208. eternity past? Jesus Christ as he turned away,

  209. God. Jesus Christ exists as God.

  210. What Paul is saying, is that Jesus Christ?

  211. And his pre-existence from all eternity possess.

  212. The essential nature of God, the character of God, the Divine

  213. attributes of God. In other words, he is God before

  214. he came to Earth. Jesus Christ, existed and dwelt.

  215. in the indivisible glory of the father.

  216. He existed and dwelt in the Perfections of Heaven.

  217. He was one with the father and the spirit and the blessedness

  218. of his Divine being, but he willingly he voluntary last out

  219. Glory. For the Earth.

  220. Let really, we have to say. God was manifest in the flesh.

  221. You know, this is one of the fundamental doctrines of Bible

  222. believing Christianity. This is a most basic fundamental

  223. truth and all truth. Really circularly.

  224. It's or revolves around this one truth.

  225. All Doctrine centers around the Revelation that God was manifest

  226. In the Flesh. Know if you deny this.

  227. Doctrine. Or are you reject us Doctrine?

  228. I have to say this morning. You cannot be a true Christian.

  229. If you deny that Jesus Christ is eternally the Son of God or the

  230. doctrine of the Incarnation or the doctrine of his virgin

  231. birth. You cannot be a true Christian.

  232. You can't be born of the spirit. You can't be seemingly joined to

  233. Christ and Union with him. This is a ground theme.

  234. The equality. Of the son with the father.

  235. Who being? That's a reference to Eternal

  236. existence who being in the form of God.

  237. The exact nature of God. That's a reference to the

  238. doctrine of the Trinity that not brings in the the truth of it.

  239. The father and the truth of break the spirit 3 +, 1 + & 1, &

  240. 3 are not three Gods young people.

  241. We don't worship. Three Gods.

  242. We worship one living and true God, who subsist in three

  243. persons father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the semen substance.

  244. Equal in power and Glory. So here's the Apostle, Paul who

  245. is Jesus Christ? He is someone who from all

  246. eternity existed, as God, the son, as the Son of God, and

  247. therefore, Jesus Christ as God, the son as a trinitarian person.

  248. Hiko exists. He's going terni.

  249. He's quick. Look at the text.

  250. Look at verse 6, thought it not robbery to be equal with God and

  251. it was not me. I want to tell you this morning.

  252. There's a lot of rubbish written about that particular statement.

  253. There's a lot of lies written about that statement.

  254. Literally, it means this. It was no exaggeration for him,

  255. too. Clean to be God or for him to be

  256. called God. Jesus Christ was forever

  257. conscious of who he was. He knew who he was, and who he

  258. is. John Calvin says in this tax

  259. there that there would be no wrong done though.

  260. We had shown himself to be equal with God.

  261. In other words. He didn't use what he possessed

  262. godhead. For his own Advantage.

  263. He didn't use his possession as God, the son or the Son of God

  264. to further his own interests, at the expense of the father or the

  265. expanse of the spur, be go equal with the father was not

  266. something that he greedily clutched and said it's mine or

  267. ostentatiously. Displayed.

  268. He was not exerting his equality.

  269. He was not being arrogant. Or Blasphemous to claim to be

  270. God. When the be a monstrous

  271. exaggeration for me, or for you to claim to be God or a god.

  272. But it was no robbery for Christ.

  273. Too clean to be gone. Why?

  274. For he is God, who co-exist is coeternal?

  275. His co-equal with the father. Let me put it this way.

  276. I have no rate this morning to claim to be the Prince of Wales.

  277. That would be robbery, that would be a lie.

  278. That would be arrogant, that Title Prince of Wales, belongs

  279. to One, Man of the House of Windsor and I do desire nor

  280. thought to be the prince of Wheels.

  281. But when Jesus Christ claimed to be God, when he came and said, I

  282. am, he spoke the truth. He wasn't telling lies.

  283. See, this is a very rich statement.

  284. Jesus Christ is God. I don't want you to understand

  285. and consider the Majesty of his person for the Covino.

  286. Dating it. There could be no duplicity

  287. here. There could be no ambiguity

  288. about this. He is God, the son.

  289. Everything that belongs to God belongs to Christ and thus forms

  290. part there, if the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and people poke

  291. fun at the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, they laugh and they

  292. say, well I can there be three Gods.

  293. I repeat. There's not There's three

  294. passions in the one godhead and everything that belongs to God

  295. belongs to Christ all the Divine substance, all the Divine

  296. Essence, all the attributes, the power of the prerogative, the

  297. sovereignty, the Majesty. It's all has just as much as it

  298. was God, the father's, I'm God, the Holy Spirit, and it was not

  299. a robbery for him to clear him that you Children Here, know

  300. what robbery is. It's taking something that not

  301. yours. You know that robberies a bad

  302. Act. The Bible says, Thou shalt not

  303. steal, whether that's a pan or a penny or whether that's like

  304. robbing the bank. The Lord Jesus were told thought

  305. it not robbery to be equal with God.

  306. The Lord Jesus who existed from all eternity in the form of God

  307. co-equal. As I've said, cool exist in

  308. Kuwait, are no and that equality belonged to him.

  309. It was his by intrinsic, right? It was his by the very essence

  310. of us being I want you to understand this morning the

  311. mystery, or the Majesty of his person, only to get into your

  312. main, the equality, and the eternality, and indeed the

  313. existence of the Sun. I want you to consider something

  314. else. Not only the mystery of the

  315. Majesty of his person. I could go on to verse 7, but

  316. I'm going to resist that Temptation.

  317. I want you to think of the the message.

  318. Of Christ purpose. Because if the doctrine of the

  319. Incarnation is true that God was manifest in the flesh.

  320. Why did he come? And the answer is for the son of

  321. man has come to seek and to see of that, which was lost.

  322. The Bible says, as a faithful saying that Christ Jesus came

  323. into the world to save Sinners. Paul says of whom.

  324. I am chief and these are real Tris.

  325. And these are real truce for a real world because even though

  326. he was coeternal with the father and coexisted with the father,

  327. and co-equal with the father verses 7 and 8, teachers about

  328. the steps that they God, the son took to empty himself by taking

  329. upon himself human nature and ending up dying on atoning,

  330. death on the cross, the Bible. He humbled himself.

  331. No one humble Christ willingly, voluntary graciously.

  332. He offered up himself unto death as a once and for all sacrifice

  333. for sin and the Bible tells us, but this man after he had

  334. offered one sacrifice for sins forever.

  335. Sat down on the right hand of God, and I want to ask this

  336. morning because I believe passionately these are real

  337. truths that I'm teaching you and telling you and they're real

  338. truce for a real world. A world of trial, a world of

  339. Tears, a world of Temptation. A world of sin and suffering and

  340. sorrow. I want to ask the question.

  341. Is Jesus Christ. A real sea of your to you?

  342. If he came into the world to seek and to save that, which was

  343. lost. If Christ Jesus came into the

  344. world of see of Sinners, have you acknowledged it your Center,

  345. acknowledge that you have a soul Exotics that you need Christ and

  346. your life. Remember, neither?

  347. Is there salvation in any other? For there is no other name under

  348. Heaven, given among men. Whereby we must be sieved.

  349. You see the doctor of his incarnation?

  350. What does it mean to you this morning?

  351. God In the Flesh, does it mean anything?

  352. It must have been something either you rejoice in this and

  353. you receive Christ in the fullness of his coming?

  354. Or you reject him. Remember the Bible says he came

  355. unto his own and his own received him.

  356. Not put as many as received him to them gave he power to become

  357. the sons of God. Are you one of his children this

  358. morning? Have you borrowed the money?

  359. Have you trusted him as Lord? And Savior?

  360. Remember again? What Joe and emphasizes there

  361. and not particular 12 verse? Even to them, that believe on

  362. his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the

  363. flesh, nor of the will of, man, but of God, and the Word was

  364. made flesh, and dwelt Among Us. Jesus Christ came into the world

  365. to see if Sinners. Jesus Christ came into the world

  366. so you could receive He was manifested.

  367. The Bible tells us to to destroy the works of the devil.

  368. You see, these are all statements of purpose.

  369. Sinners are are born in sin and sheep and iniquity there fected

  370. by some affected, by a world of tears of trial and Temptation.

  371. And what does the coming of Christ into the world mean to

  372. you? Hi many try to live as if

  373. Christ, never existed. How many try to live as if

  374. Christ has not called equal with the father?

  375. How many try to live as if he's not God?

  376. The son? As if he didn't come into the

  377. world, it's nothing to there. And yet the reality is, this is

  378. the greatest message of love and great.

  379. His message of grease and a great message of Salvation.

  380. Through Christ can say, I was born for you Christ.

  381. Can say I live for you, the Christ can say I died.

  382. An atoning death for you? I rose again bodily for you and

  383. I called you that I might redeem you and change and transform.

  384. You, you know, you can't save yourself.

  385. And, you know, the church doesn't see if and certainly the

  386. poop doesn't see it. Have you submitted to him?

  387. Have you bowed the knee to him? You know, the Bible tells us.

  388. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

  389. Speaking of Christ. Jesus Christ.

  390. God, the son, God In the Flesh. You don't need a dictionary to

  391. understand the meaning of the word gift.

  392. You receive the gift. And you say thank you, and

  393. you've got joy and gladness in your heart.

  394. About the gift. I want you to consider not only

  395. the magistrate of the mystery of his person, but I want you to

  396. think about the message of us purpose.

  397. Why did he come? And what does it mean to you?

  398. This morning? I don't want you to consider.

  399. Lastly. I want you to consider the mains

  400. of Christ Porsche. Because as I thought about how

  401. this impacts on our lives and what our response ought to be to

  402. the coming of God, the son into the world.

  403. There were three things that come and these three things were

  404. something that dr. Alan Kearns told many many years

  405. ago in the Medfield College of the Bible in relation to the

  406. doctrine of the Incarnation. And this is what he said, our

  407. response ought to be and I remember hearing them and I

  408. wrote them down and I've had them and I've just brought them

  409. into the message rather than go on and do versus seven and

  410. eight. We will open that up at a second

  411. time, but here was the three thoughts.

  412. We ought to be thankful unto Christ.

  413. Thanks be unto God for his on speakable gift.

  414. You see the true Christian never gets Beyond?

  415. He's lost in a sense, of wonder sense of Amazement the the

  416. newness and freshness of crazed. As always the newly slain lamb

  417. Before the Throne of God, there's joy.

  418. There's peace. There's happiness.

  419. Fills us hard. Be thankful unto Christ, Lord.

  420. Thank you for being born for me. Thank you for loving for me.

  421. Thank you. Lord for dying for me.

  422. Thank you. Lord, for saving me.

  423. It's not a prayer that you could pray.

  424. Some of you won't come to the prayer meeting.

  425. Give difficulty. You say, I don't know what to

  426. say. Mr. Magorium.

  427. Here's the answer. You can come and pray, be

  428. thankful unto him. I told you some time ago when I

  429. was at Marion and the 84 year old woman came to the prayer

  430. meeting for the first time. She was saved, ten years that

  431. day. It was a Tuesday and she was

  432. saved when she was 74. I just come in to the prayer

  433. meeting, and she sat in the very front row and she cried out.

  434. Thank you, Lord, for saving me. You lubbers, joy and happiness

  435. in upper and that we woman's fear is really it, the

  436. thankfulness that you had that you were seeing.

  437. Are you thankful this morning that you have this experience?

  438. I want you to think, secondly. Thinking like Christ.

  439. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ.

  440. Jesus. I told you that last week, the

  441. word mind means the attitude. You see if we have the attitude

  442. of Christ, a spurt of self-sacrificing self-denying.

  443. There's no room for Pride. What if we got to be prayed

  444. abide? There's no room for

  445. self-promotion or are are no place for division or disunity

  446. or Discord? All that it takes to serve God.

  447. And to live for the glory of Christ and to reach Sinners and

  448. exalt the savior. All the teks.

  449. We're willing to guess. Nothing will be too much for us.

  450. It'll be a great spirit of sacrifice in our heart and then

  451. and later who he is and what he's done.

  452. Remember CT stud said of Jesus Christ be God and day for me

  453. then no sacrifice can be too green for me for me to make for

  454. him. If he left the Realms of Glory,

  455. the bosom of the father, for the bosom of the Virgin, and lived

  456. among man, in the likeness of sinful flesh in a real human

  457. body and and went to the cross and injured, the horrible.

  458. Half of crucifixion and rose again for us, then surely, in

  459. light of who he is. And what he's done, does it not

  460. cause us to think about him? and lastly, Allen Kearns

  461. emphasize this Talking of him. If we really believe the gospel.

  462. Will not keep it to her sales because this is the greatest

  463. message in the world. And here's the means of having

  464. Christ. As our portion will only be

  465. thankful unto Christ and think like Christ, but we will talk of

  466. Christ. What was it?

  467. Drove the early church? What was it?

  468. That feel the great missionary movements.

  469. The old church has string, what caused people to uproot their

  470. lives and leave Northern Ireland?

  471. Go to Kenya and go to Uganda and go to Nepal and other places to

  472. the far-flung corners of the earth and bear hardship for

  473. Jesus Christ, and suffer loss of this world and its goods, maybe

  474. even suffering L health. Because they really believe the

  475. gospel. They were gripped with us, and

  476. there are willing to go and tell others of Christ.

  477. And, you know that We need to do in our church.

  478. We need to go and tell others how great a savior.

  479. Come on here. A man that told me all things

  480. that ever I did. It's not this the Christ, the

  481. Messiah. Remember, they mom from the

  482. gadarenes after he got converted, and he wanted to go

  483. with Christ, and Grace, said, go home and tell what great things,

  484. the Lord of Dunphy. And the Bible tells us he went

  485. to the capitalist. He went the ten cities, not just

  486. us home and among his family, but he went to many others.

  487. Yes, and he told them of the great things that the Lord had

  488. done for him. No, this morning.

  489. Let's consider this example. Of the mystery of Christ person.

  490. Let's take into our main god, the son manifest in flesh.

  491. Let that impact upon us. And then let's think of us

  492. purpose. God, the son came to see of

  493. Sinners. He came to see of me.

  494. Have you see if this morning? Are you trusting Christ?

  495. And then let's Have this means employed have Christ Our

  496. portion. Then let's be thankful.

  497. Let's think often of him. In the steps that he took and

  498. humiliation and that stock of him to others.

  499. May the Lord bless you this morning.

  500. Thank you for listening.
