  1. Good morning to you all.

  2. Oh, thank you.

  3. Let me pray before we start.

  4. Our Father and our God, we do indeed give you great thanks and praise

  5. that you are a God who is perfect.

  6. You are a God who has answers.

  7. You are a God who saves his people.

  8. You are a God who pours out love and mercy to your people.

  9. Father, please help us now to understand the message that you would wish for us

  10. to hear this morning from these amazing passages.

  11. In Jesus' name, amen.

  12. Well, we have come to our second last message here in Esther

  13. and we have heard about four interesting characters.

  14. King Xerxes, whose character is extremely questionable, is obsessed with himself.

  15. Queen Esther, we know she's beautiful.

  16. She has kept her Jewish heritage private and along with the fact that her life is in danger,

  17. so is the life or lives of all the other Jews and they are threatened with annihilation.

  18. Mordecai, he's of the Jewish family of Esther and he's the guy who refused to bow down to Haman

  19. and seemingly has started and caused this problem that we have right at this moment in time.

  20. And Haman himself, the man obsessed with hatred that comes from his ancestor King Agag

  21. that we learnt about some weeks back, the king of the Amalekites.

  22. And Haman is the guy who we learnt last week who is filled with pride

  23. and whose plans are not just to see the death of Mordecai,

  24. but to see the whole Jewish race annihilated.

  25. Now, it's not difficult to dislike Haman.

  26. And it is easy to wish for poetic justice.

  27. Now, poetic justice is a literary term.

  28. It's what every good book and every good movie has.

  29. You know what I mean.

  30. There's good characters and there's bad characters, evil characters,

  31. and all along it looks as if the evil characters are going to win.

  32. And yet the author uses the evil characters to somehow turn the tables

  33. and the evil characters receive the punishment that they deserve.

  34. We would say they got their just desserts.

  35. Now, poetic justice happens all throughout life.

  36. We often want to see the tables turned for good to win over evil.

  37. But poetic justice leaves things a little unresolved.

  38. The grief of a family when a member of their family is killed by a mad gunman,

  39. and we only just have to look at recent news,

  40. they are still left in grief,

  41. even though the gunman gets the punishment

  42. and is sent to jail for a long time.

  43. The punishment doesn't bring back the one who was shot.

  44. There is still something unresolved,

  45. even though the gunman is actually punished.

  46. Now, in chapters 7 and 8 of Esther,

  47. we see perfect justice.

  48. Yes, there is poetic justice through this story.

  49. Yes, Haman dies on the very gallows that were meant for Mordecai,

  50. and the people of God have their lives saved by a reversal of the death edict.

  51. But there's more for us to see in relation to God's perfect justice.

  52. You see, commonly, poetic justice has something missing.

  53. But in God's perfect justice,

  54. he writes the wrongs fully and completely.

  55. Nothing is missing.

  56. Now, there are four points that we can learn from God's perfect justice

  57. from these two chapters.

  58. We didn't read chapter 8,

  59. but we'll get to that.

  60. There's two points in chapter 7,

  61. and there's two in chapter 8.

  62. In God's perfect justice,

  63. there is perfect knowledge,

  64. there is perfect judgment,

  65. there is perfect reward,

  66. and there is perfect joy.

  67. First of all,

  68. in perfect justice,

  69. there is perfect knowledge.

  70. Any justice that we see in this world

  71. isn't perfect

  72. because no human has all the information

  73. or knowledge of another person.

  74. There are many secrets that are hidden.

  75. And we see this happen in Esther chapter 7,

    Esther 7 chapter mention

  76. in the first six verses,

  77. especially look with me at verses 3 and 4.

  78. Having been asked again

  79. what the queen's request is by the king,

  80. the queen, Queen Esther, answers,

  81. if I have found favour with you, your majesty,

  82. and if it pleases you,

  83. grant me my life,

  84. this is my petition,

  85. and spare my people,

  86. this is my request.

  87. For I and my people

  88. have been sold to be destroyed,

  89. killed and annihilated.

  90. If we had merely been sold

  91. as male and female slaves,

  92. I would have kept quiet

  93. because no such distress

  94. would justify disturbing the king.

  95. She knows how to speak to this king,

  96. doesn't she?

  97. She's very clever.

  98. Esther reveals her concern

  99. for her own life and her people.

  100. Remember, no one knows

  101. that she is a Jew at this stage,

  102. not even her husband, the king.

  103. All knowledge of the problem

  104. is not revealed straight away,

  105. nor does she make it clear

  106. that it is the edict

  107. that Haman actually put together

  108. and that the king actually signed

  109. is the main problem.

  110. And note her comments,

  111. in her comments,

  112. she is using the same wording

  113. that is in the decree

  114. that Haman wrote

  115. and the king signed.

  116. Now, understandably,

  117. this king asks,

  118. who has done such a thing?

  119. Now, you could imagine Haman.

  120. Haman would be getting

  121. a little worried

  122. as he's listening to the king,

  123. sitting there at the banquet,

  124. feeling like he's a special guest,

  125. and he hears the queen

  126. speaking this way.

  127. Things haven't been going well

  128. for Haman, remember.

  129. He has just come in from outside.

  130. He's actually had to be humiliated

  131. by parading around the city

  132. with Mordecai being honoured,

  133. the very person who he hates.

  134. Now, Esther reveals the adversary.

  135. It's this wicked Haman.

  136. This wicked Haman is out to kill her,

  137. the queen of all people.

  138. Now, does the king realise

  139. it's the edict

  140. that Esther is referring to?

  141. Maybe not.

  142. Now, we have seen,

  143. we think maybe not,

  144. and the commentators think maybe not,

  145. because we have seen the king

  146. be very slow and lacking thought

  147. throughout all of Esther.

  148. So nothing makes us think

  149. that he's putting all the dots together.

  150. The knowledge shared here

  151. is not complete.

  152. Esther doesn't tell the whole story.

  153. But in God's justice,

  154. all things will be revealed

  155. because perfect justice

  156. has perfect knowledge.

  157. If you can imagine a judge

  158. in one of our courts

  159. making decisions

  160. on what he or she sees before them,

  161. the judge doesn't know the heart

  162. of the person in front of them,

  163. doesn't know the motives,

  164. the judge doesn't know

  165. if the witness is lying or not,

  166. and so cannot really make

  167. a perfect judgment.

  168. We'll do the best he or she can,

  169. but it won't ever be perfect.

  170. A judgment will be made perfect,

  171. will be made,

  172. but it won't be that perfect

  173. because a judge cannot have

  174. perfect knowledge.

  175. But our God

  176. can make a perfect judgment

  177. because all things

  178. will be revealed

  179. on the day of judgment.

  180. Revelation tells us

  181. that when Jesus returns,

  182. the books will be opened

  183. and every wrong

  184. and every right

  185. that we have ever done

  186. will be totally exposed

  187. and all will be revealed.

  188. Now, unless our wrongs,

  189. our sins,

  190. are covered somehow,

  191. we,

  192. every one of us

  193. in this room

  194. is in great trouble.

  195. God's justice

  196. is perfect justice.

  197. He has perfect knowledge.

  198. Nothing is hidden from him.

  199. Even though we can hide

  200. a huge amount from each other,

  201. nothing is hidden from God.

  202. God's perfect justice

  203. requires perfect righteousness

  204. of which we cannot

  205. give ourselves.

  206. In 2 Corinthians 5,

    2 Corinthians 5:21

  207. verse 21,

  208. it says,

  209. God made him,

  210. that is Jesus Christ,

  211. who had no sin

  212. to be sin for us

  213. so that in him

  214. we might become

  215. the righteousness of God.

  216. Jesus is the one

  217. who can cover

  218. all of our sins.

  219. Now, many think

  220. that God will let

  221. everyone

  222. pass the entrance

  223. into heaven

  224. on the day of judgment.

  225. But how can that be perfect

  226. if he lets those

  227. who have ignored him

  228. all their lives

  229. and done their own thing?

  230. Those who have been wicked,

  231. those who have been selfish,

  232. those who have been self-motivated.

  233. And dare I say,

  234. how can even welcoming

  235. a religious person

  236. who comes to church

  237. every Sunday

  238. and then forgets God

  239. the rest of the week

  240. for six days,

  241. no thought of God,

  242. but I'm in church

  243. on a Sunday,

  244. how can that be just

  245. if God allows that person

  246. into his heaven?

  247. You might remember

  248. Jesus said some pretty

  249. horrendous things

  250. about the Pharisees.

  251. And in Luke 11,

  252. Jesus comments

  253. about the Pharisees

  254. in many different ways.

  255. But maybe one

  256. of the worst comments

  257. is,

  258. woe to you,

  259. experts in the law,

  260. because you have taken away

  261. the key to knowledge.

  262. you yourselves

  263. have not entered

  264. and you have hindered

  265. those who are entering.

  266. How awful is that?

  267. To just be a nice person

  268. isn't what is needed.

  269. Putting your life

  270. into Jesus' hands

  271. 100% is what is needed.

  272. to know that you need saving

  273. and that Jesus

  274. is the perfect saviour

  275. because he has taken

  276. the punishment

  277. that we deserve

  278. on the cross.

  279. So that we then

  280. can stand confident

  281. when that book

  282. is open

  283. and everything

  284. about our lives

  285. is revealed.

  286. Our sin

  287. will not be seen

  288. but Jesus

  289. by his very

  290. life and death

  291. will be covering

  292. the pages

  293. and only

  294. Jesus

  295. will be seen.

  296. If we are trusting

  297. in Jesus

  298. as Lord

  299. and saviour

  300. then the perfect

  301. knowledge

  302. of all of our

  303. actions

  304. good and sinful

  305. will in fact

  306. be covered

  307. by our saviour

  308. Jesus.

  309. Now God's

  310. perfect justice

  311. will also be

  312. a perfect

  313. judgement.

  314. There was

  315. a day of judgement

  316. for Haman.

  317. For a time

  318. it all looked

  319. as if

  320. everything

  321. was going well

  322. for Haman.

  323. He had position

  324. he had wealth

  325. he had power

  326. he had honour.

  327. It would be

  328. understandable

  329. to be looking on

  330. and say

  331. this isn't fair

  332. this person

  333. is evil.

  334. and yet

  335. look at

  336. everything

  337. that he has

  338. and that is

  339. not uncommon

  340. in life.

  341. We see

  342. many people

  343. in life

  344. who are

  345. elevated

  346. seemingly

  347. blessed

  348. in finances

  349. and position

  350. and we might

  351. be tempted

  352. to call out

  353. and say

  354. it isn't fair.

  355. fair.

  356. How often

  357. have you thought

  358. that a punishment

  359. does not

  360. fit the crime?

  361. We cry out

  362. it isn't fair

  363. and I can

  364. and every one

  365. of you with

  366. children will

  367. know

  368. children can

  369. do this

  370. the best.

  371. they cry out

  372. they cry out

  373. but it's

  374. not fair

  375. she is

  376. to blame

  377. he is

  378. to blame

  379. but with

  380. God

  381. his punishment

  382. is perfect.

  383. Psalm 73

  384. the whole

  385. of the psalm

  386. explains

  387. this dilemma

  388. beautifully

  389. but we won't

  390. read the whole psalm

  391. but the psalmist

  392. does say

  393. I envied

  394. the arrogant

  395. when I saw

  396. their prosperity

  397. and the wicked

  398. they have no

  399. struggles

  400. their bodies

  401. are healthy

  402. and strong

  403. they are free

  404. from common

  405. human burdens

  406. they are not

  407. plagued

  408. by human

  409. ills

  410. and the psalmist

  411. continues

  412. with saying

  413. that he has

  414. been faithful

  415. and yet

  416. things are

  417. going wrong

  418. for him

  419. and he cries

  420. out to God

  421. and he says

  422. God

  423. this isn't

  424. fair

  425. and then

  426. he realises

  427. it's not

  428. fair

  429. only for

  430. a time

  431. in the psalm

  432. it says

  433. how quickly

  434. are they

  435. destroyed

  436. completely

  437. swept away

  438. by terrors

  439. it looks

  440. all unfair

  441. but it's

  442. only

  443. for a time

  444. that it is

  445. unfair

  446. scripture

  447. tells us

  448. in many

  449. different

  450. ways

  451. the

  452. meek

  453. shall

  454. inherit

  455. the

  456. earth

  457. the

  458. first

  459. shall

  460. be

  461. last

  462. the

  463. last

  464. shall

  465. be

  466. first

  467. take

  468. courage

  469. God's

  470. justice

  471. is

  472. perfect

  473. judgment

  474. and if

  475. there

  476. wasn't

  477. a day

  478. of

  479. judgment

  480. then that

  481. would mean

  482. that God's

  483. justice

  484. is not

  485. perfect

  486. after all

  487. heaven

  488. now here

  489. in Esther

  490. we see

  491. the king

  492. has a

  493. problem

  494. and Haman

  495. an even

  496. bigger problem

  497. we know

  498. the king

  499. is weak

  500. and we

  501. know

  502. and here

  503. in this

  504. story

  505. he's

  506. horrified

  507. that someone

  508. would plan

  509. to kill

  510. his queen

  511. but

  512. he's the

  513. one who

  514. has

  515. promoted

  516. this

  517. wicked

  518. person

  519. he's the

  520. one who

  521. has given

  522. him all

  523. the power

  524. and the

  525. high

  526. position

  527. how

  528. embarrassing

  529. for this

  530. king who

  531. is only

  532. concerned

  533. about

  534. himself

  535. he's going

  536. to look

  537. like a

  538. goose

  539. he's

  540. enraged

  541. and he's

  542. disturbed

  543. and he

  544. has to

  545. take

  546. himself

  547. outside

  548. to give

  549. him some

  550. space

  551. to think

  552. what on

  553. earth

  554. am I

  555. going to

  556. do

  557. here

  558. now

  559. Haman

  560. on the

  561. other

  562. hand

  563. tries

  564. to see

  565. whilst the

  566. king's

  567. out of

  568. the room

  569. tries to

  570. see if he

  571. might be

  572. able to

  573. persuade

  574. the queen

  575. to change

  576. the story

  577. or something

  578. or to

  579. plead

  580. for life

  581. because

  582. Haman

  583. knows

  584. only too

  585. well

  586. that this

  587. king

  588. is about

  589. to kill

  590. him

  591. he has

  592. seen

  593. this

  594. king

  595. annihilate

  596. kill

  597. many

  598. many

  599. people

  600. but as

  601. fate

  602. or is

  603. it

  604. coincidence

  605. or have

  606. we learnt

  607. by now

  608. throughout

  609. Esther

  610. God's

  611. hand

  612. is at

  613. work

  614. quietly

  615. Haman

  616. trips

  617. and he

  618. falls

  619. on to

  620. queen

  621. Esther

  622. just

  623. as the

  624. king

  625. is coming

  626. in

  627. not

  628. a good

  629. look

  630. one

  631. would

  632. think

  633. and for

  634. this

  635. weak

  636. king

  637. inwardly

  638. he

  639. most

  640. probably

  641. saying

  642. woohoo

  643. I've

  644. got another

  645. reason to

  646. get this

  647. guy

  648. I'm not

  649. going to

  650. look as

  651. bad as

  652. what I

  653. thought I

  654. might have

  655. been

  656. he won't

  657. be as

  658. embarrassed

  659. about this

  660. one

  661. or he

  662. won't

  663. lose

  664. face

  665. but

  666. Proverbs

  667. 11

  668. 19

  669. tells

  670. us

  671. truly

  672. the

  673. righteous

  674. attain

  675. life

  676. but

  677. whoever

  678. pursues

  679. evil

  680. finds

  681. death

  682. now

  683. this

  684. is

  685. poetic

  686. justice

  687. and

  688. God's

  689. justice

  690. is

  691. perfect

  692. judgment

  693. we

  694. can be

  695. certain

  696. that

  697. God

  698. will

  699. judge

  700. Haman

  701. he has

  702. been

  703. judged

  704. by the

  705. king

  706. by

  707. being

  708. given

  709. death

  710. at that

  711. moment

  712. but

  713. God's

  714. judgment

  715. is

  716. eternal

  717. death

  718. and

  719. Haman

  720. will

  721. have

  722. that

  723. and

  724. God's

  725. perfect

  726. justice

  727. will

  728. receive

  729. a

  730. perfect

  731. reward

  732. now

  733. God

  734. promises

  735. to

  736. fully

  737. and

  738. completely

  739. reward

  740. the

  741. righteous

  742. some

  743. of the

  744. rewards

  745. will be

  746. in this

  747. life

  748. but

  749. much

  750. of

  751. our

  752. rewards

  753. will

  754. be

  755. in

  756. eternal

  757. life

  758. in

  759. our

  760. life

  761. after

  762. death

  763. there

  764. is

  765. a

  766. great

  767. reversal

  768. and

  769. a

  770. great

  771. reward

  772. for

  773. the

  774. righteous

  775. and

  776. we

  777. see

  778. it

  779. in

  780. Haman

  781. and

  782. Mordecai

  783. if we

  784. compared

  785. the

  786. two

  787. of

  788. them

  789. Mordecai

  790. was

  791. humbled

  792. at

  793. the

  794. beginning

  795. of

  796. the

  797. story

  798. of

  799. Esther

  800. and

  801. then

  802. Mordecai

  803. was

  804. honoured

  805. and

  806. exalted

  807. Haman

  808. was

  809. honoured

  810. and

  811. exalted

  812. at the

  813. beginning

  814. and

  815. then

  816. he

  817. was

  818. humbled

  819. there

  820. was

  821. a

  822. massive

  823. reversal

  824. for

  825. Mordecai

  826. when

  827. all

  828. of

  829. Haman's

  830. estate

  831. that

  832. was

  833. given

  834. to

  835. Esther

  836. by

  837. the

  838. king

  839. was

  840. handed

  841. over

  842. to

  843. Mordecai

  844. to

  845. take

  846. care

  847. of

  848. along

  849. with

  850. the

  851. king

  852. handing

  853. over

  854. his

  855. signet

  856. ring

  857. we see

  858. in

  859. chapter

  860. 8

  861. to

  862. Mordecai

  863. signifying

  864. that he

  865. can speak

  866. for the

  867. king

  868. in

  869. all

  870. of

  871. Susa

  872. isn't

  873. that

  874. amazing

  875. that the

  876. king

  877. can

  878. just

  879. switch

  880. like

  881. that

  882. you

  883. see

  884. there

  885. is

  886. also

  887. a

  888. great

  889. reversal

  890. in

  891. the

  892. kingdom

  893. of

  894. God

  895. we

  896. might

  897. see

  898. the

  899. wicked

  900. and

  901. Haman

  902. in

  903. this

  904. passage

  905. grow

  906. in

  907. wealth

  908. and

  909. position

  910. and

  911. pride

  912. and

  913. honour

  914. but

  915. there

  916. will

  917. be

  918. a

  919. time

  920. where

  921. all

  922. will

  923. be

  924. reversed

  925. God

  926. will

  927. reward

  928. those

  929. who

  930. serve

  931. him

  932. faithfully

  933. Hebrews

    Hebrews 6:10

  934. chapter 6

  935. verse 10

  936. says

  937. God

  938. is not

  939. unjust

  940. he

  941. will

  942. not

  943. forget

  944. your

  945. work

  946. and

  947. love

  948. you

  949. have

  950. shown

  951. him

  952. as

  953. you

  954. have

  955. helped

  956. his

  957. people

  958. and

  959. continue

  960. to

  961. help

  962. them

  963. this

  964. isn't

  965. just

  966. poetic

  967. justice

  968. this

  969. is

  970. a

  971. great

  972. reward

  973. from

  974. God

  975. God's

  976. rewards

  977. are

  978. based

  979. on

  980. what

  981. we

  982. do

  983. now

  984. don't

  985. get me

  986. wrong

  987. I

  988. am

  989. not

  990. talking

  991. about

  992. salvation

  993. here

  994. there

  995. is

  996. nothing

  997. that

  998. we

  999. can

  1000. do

  1001. to

  1002. earn

  1003. our

  1004. salvation

  1005. that

  1006. is

  1007. purely

  1008. a

  1009. gift

  1010. from

  1011. God

  1012. but

  1013. in

  1014. Revelation

  1015. 22

  1016. the

  1017. Lord

  1018. does

  1019. say

  1020. behold

  1021. I

  1022. am

  1023. coming

  1024. soon

  1025. my

  1026. reward

  1027. is

  1028. with

  1029. me

  1030. and

  1031. I

  1032. will

  1033. give

  1034. to

  1035. everyone

  1036. according

  1037. to

  1038. what

  1039. he

  1040. has

  1041. done

  1042. this

  1043. is

  1044. a

  1045. reward

  1046. over

  1047. and

  1048. above

  1049. the

  1050. gift

  1051. of

  1052. salvation

  1053. the

  1054. question

  1055. that

  1056. we

  1057. need

  1058. to

  1059. ask

  1060. ourselves

  1061. is

  1062. am

  1063. I

  1064. living

  1065. for

  1066. God

  1067. in

  1068. all

  1069. areas

  1070. of

  1071. my

  1072. life

  1073. am

  1074. I

  1075. serving

  1076. him

  1077. faithfully

  1078. for

  1079. this

  1080. wonderful

  1081. reward

  1082. that

  1083. is

  1084. promised

  1085. we

  1086. see

  1087. great

  1088. concern

  1089. also

  1090. in

  1091. Esther

  1092. she

  1093. has

  1094. everything

  1095. she

  1096. has

  1097. power

  1098. she

  1099. now

  1100. knows

  1101. for

  1102. a

  1103. moment

  1104. that

  1105. her

  1106. life

  1107. is

  1108. safe

  1109. but

  1110. there

  1111. is

  1112. still

  1113. sadness

  1114. there

  1115. is

  1116. still

  1117. unfinished

  1118. business

  1119. and

  1120. it's

  1121. the

  1122. same

  1123. here

  1124. in

  1125. Esther

  1126. poetic

  1127. justice

  1128. was

  1129. given

  1130. to

  1131. Haman

  1132. he

  1133. was

  1134. hung

  1135. on

  1136. the

  1137. very

  1138. gallows

  1139. that

  1140. he

  1141. intended

  1142. for

  1143. Mordecai

  1144. but

  1145. Esther

  1146. is

  1147. still

  1148. sad

  1149. because

  1150. her

  1151. people

  1152. still

  1153. have

  1154. the

  1155. edict

  1156. that

  1157. they

  1158. are

  1159. to

  1160. be

  1161. annihilated

  1162. they

  1163. need

  1164. to

  1165. be

  1166. rescued

  1167. otherwise

  1168. they

  1169. die

  1170. now

  1171. we

  1172. need

  1173. to

  1174. understand

  1175. that

  1176. in

  1177. this

  1178. time

  1179. that

  1180. Esther

  1181. is

  1182. written

  1183. a

  1184. king

  1185. could

  1186. not

  1187. change

  1188. a

  1189. law

  1190. that

  1191. he

  1192. had

  1193. made

  1194. any

  1195. edict

  1196. he

  1197. had

  1198. put

  1199. out

  1200. it

  1201. could

  1202. not

  1203. be

  1204. changed

  1205. it

  1206. could

  1207. not

  1208. be

  1209. revoked

  1210. because

  1211. shock

  1212. of

  1213. shock

  1214. it

  1215. might

  1216. look

  1217. as if

  1218. the

  1219. king

  1220. had

  1221. made

  1222. a

  1223. mistake

  1224. but

  1225. a

  1226. new

  1227. edict

  1228. was

  1229. written

  1230. where

  1231. the

  1232. Jews

  1233. were

  1234. permitted

  1235. to

  1236. defend

  1237. themselves

  1238. and

  1239. their

  1240. families

  1241. this

  1242. is

  1243. amazing

  1244. this

  1245. is

  1246. a

  1247. reversal

  1248. it's

  1249. a

  1250. great

  1251. reversal

  1252. for the

  1253. Jews

  1254. they

  1255. were

  1256. destined

  1257. to

  1258. be

  1259. annihilated

  1260. but

  1261. now

  1262. can

  1263. defend

  1264. themselves

  1265. against

  1266. those

  1267. who

  1268. defend

  1269. themselves

  1270. against

  1271. those

  1272. who

  1273. would

  1274. come

  1275. after

  1276. them

  1277. to

  1278. kill

  1279. them

  1280. now

  1281. God

  1282. has

  1283. also

  1284. made

  1285. an

  1286. irrevocable

  1287. law

  1288. that

  1289. is

  1290. a

  1291. law

  1292. that

  1293. will

  1294. never

  1295. be

  1296. changed

  1297. and

  1298. that

  1299. is

  1300. the

  1301. wages

  1302. of

  1303. sin

  1304. is

  1305. death

  1306. God

  1307. will

  1308. not

  1309. change

  1310. his

  1311. laws

  1312. but

  1313. he

  1314. won't

  1315. change

  1316. his

  1317. laws

  1318. not

  1319. because

  1320. he's

  1321. frightened

  1322. that

  1323. he's

  1324. made

  1325. a

  1326. mistake

  1327. he

  1328. won't

  1329. change

  1330. his

  1331. laws

  1332. because

  1333. he

  1334. has

  1335. perfect

  1336. justice

  1337. God

  1338. must

  1339. be

  1340. just

  1341. but

  1342. he

  1343. is

  1344. also

  1345. the

  1346. justifier

  1347. and

  1348. he

  1349. maintains

  1350. justice

  1351. by

  1352. sending

  1353. Jesus

  1354. to

  1355. die

  1356. in

  1357. our

  1358. place

  1359. and

  1360. to

  1361. take

  1362. the

  1363. punishment

  1364. we

  1365. deserve

  1366. his

  1367. law

  1368. does

  1369. not

  1370. change

  1371. but

  1372. he

  1373. steps

  1374. in

  1375. to

  1376. save

  1377. us

  1378. he

  1379. pays

  1380. the

  1381. cost

  1382. so

  1383. that

  1384. anyone

  1385. who

  1386. puts

  1387. their

  1388. trust

  1389. in

  1390. Jesus

  1391. will

  1392. be

  1393. saved

  1394. that

  1395. great

  1396. verse

  1397. that

  1398. all of

  1399. you

  1400. would

  1401. know

  1402. for

  1403. God

  1404. so

  1405. loved

  1406. the

  1407. world

  1408. that

  1409. he

  1410. gave

  1411. his

  1412. only

  1413. son

  1414. that

  1415. whoever

  1416. believes

  1417. in

  1418. him

  1419. shall

  1420. not

  1421. perish

  1422. but

  1423. have

  1424. eternal

  1425. life

  1426. in

  1427. God's

  1428. perfect

  1429. justice

  1430. there will

  1431. also be

  1432. rejoicing

  1433. in the

  1434. last

  1435. few

  1436. verses

  1437. of chapter

  1438. 8

  1439. from 15

  1440. to 17

  1441. when

  1442. Mordecai

  1443. left

  1444. the

  1445. king's

  1446. presence

  1447. he

  1448. was

  1449. wearing

  1450. royal

  1451. garments

  1452. of

  1453. blue

  1454. and

  1455. white

  1456. a

  1457. large

  1458. crown

  1459. of

  1460. gold

  1461. and

  1462. a

  1463. purple

  1464. robe

  1465. of

  1466. fine

  1467. linen

  1468. and

  1469. the

  1470. city

  1471. of

  1472. Susa

  1473. held

  1474. a

  1475. joyous

  1476. celebration

  1477. for

  1478. the

  1479. Jews

  1480. it

  1481. was

  1482. a

  1483. time

  1484. of

  1485. happiness

  1486. and

  1487. joy

  1488. gladness

  1489. and

  1490. honour

  1491. in

  1492. every

  1493. province

  1494. and

  1495. in

  1496. every

  1497. city

  1498. to

  1499. which

  1500. the

  1501. edict

  1502. of

  1503. the

  1504. king

  1505. came

  1506. there

  1507. was

  1508. joy

  1509. and

  1510. gladness

  1511. among

  1512. and

  1513. celebrating

  1514. and

  1515. many

  1516. people

  1517. of

  1518. other

  1519. nationalities

  1520. became

  1521. Jews

  1522. because

  1523. fear

  1524. of

  1525. the

  1526. Jews

  1527. had

  1528. seized

  1529. them

  1530. we

  1531. see

  1532. the

  1533. people

  1534. of

  1535. Susa

  1536. rejoice

  1537. when

  1538. they

  1539. see

  1540. Mordecai

  1541. is now

  1542. the

  1543. second

  1544. in

  1545. charge

  1546. they

  1547. were

  1548. not

  1549. all

  1550. Jews

  1551. all

  1552. the

  1553. people

  1554. of

  1555. Susa

  1556. there

  1557. were

  1558. many

  1559. nationalities

  1560. there

  1561. but

  1562. they

  1563. were

  1564. all

  1565. rejoicing

  1566. because

  1567. the

  1568. wicked

  1569. Haman

  1570. had

  1571. been

  1572. dealt

  1573. with

  1574. and

  1575. now

  1576. we

  1577. have

  1578. this

  1579. new

  1580. guy

  1581. who

  1582. seems

  1583. to

  1584. be

  1585. a

  1586. good

  1587. guy

  1588. and

  1589. they're

  1590. excited

  1591. about

  1592. that

  1593. so

  1594. they

  1595. too

  1596. can

  1597. rejoice

  1598. and

  1599. we

  1600. see

  1601. rejoicing

  1602. amongst

  1603. the

  1604. Jews

  1605. they

  1606. no

  1607. longer

  1608. have

  1609. a

  1610. death

  1611. warrant

  1612. over

  1613. their

  1614. heads

  1615. and

  1616. they

  1617. can

  1618. defend

  1619. themselves

  1620. they

  1621. can

  1622. stand

  1623. firm

  1624. for

  1625. God

  1626. friends

  1627. if

  1628. if you

  1629. have been

  1630. set

  1631. free

  1632. from

  1633. your

  1634. sin

  1635. and

  1636. you've

  1637. been

  1638. set

  1639. free

  1640. from

  1641. God's

  1642. perfect

  1643. judgment

  1644. are

  1645. you

  1646. rejoicing

  1647. Paul

  1648. says

  1649. to

  1650. rejoice

  1651. in the

  1652. Lord

  1653. always

  1654. and

  1655. as

  1656. believers

  1657. haven't

  1658. we got

  1659. a reason

  1660. to

  1661. rejoice

  1662. in

  1663. Esther

  1664. there

  1665. was

  1666. rejoicing

  1667. and

  1668. dancing

  1669. for

  1670. days

  1671. and

  1672. others

  1673. saw

  1674. their

  1675. gladness

  1676. and

  1677. were

  1678. attracted

  1679. to

  1680. their

  1681. God

  1682. others

  1683. saw

  1684. that

  1685. their

  1686. God

  1687. had

  1688. delivered

  1689. them

  1690. from

  1691. death

  1692. this

  1693. God

  1694. of

  1695. the

  1696. Jews

  1697. this

  1698. God

  1699. of

  1700. us

  1701. he

  1702. watches

  1703. over

  1704. us

  1705. and

  1706. he

  1707. cares

  1708. for

  1709. us

  1710. and

  1711. he

  1712. gives

  1713. us

  1714. eternal

  1715. life

  1716. and

  1717. a

  1718. promise

  1719. that

  1720. all

  1721. the

  1722. wrong

  1723. and

  1724. all

  1725. the

  1726. evil

  1727. in

  1728. this

  1729. world

  1730. will

  1731. in

  1732. fact

  1733. be

  1734. dealt

  1735. with

  1736. eventually

  1737. we

  1738. have

  1739. a

  1740. confidence

  1741. in

  1742. a

  1743. God

  1744. who

  1745. is

  1746. just

  1747. amazing

  1748. and

  1749. words

  1750. cannot

  1751. express

  1752. it

  1753. enough

  1754. the

  1755. joy

  1756. in

  1757. God's

  1758. people

  1759. allows

  1760. others

  1761. to

  1762. see

  1763. that

  1764. there

  1765. is

  1766. something

  1767. worth

  1768. rejoicing

  1769. about

  1770. is

  1771. that

  1772. you

  1773. the

  1774. German

  1775. philosopher

  1776. and

  1777. atheist

  1778. and

  1779. I

  1780. have

  1781. a

  1782. sneaking

  1783. suspicion

  1784. Steve

  1785. used

  1786. Friedrich

  1787. Nietzsche's

  1788. comment

  1789. somewhere

  1790. in this

  1791. series

  1792. but

  1793. Friedrich

  1794. Nietzsche

  1795. the

  1796. philosopher

  1797. said

  1798. I

  1799. might

  1800. believe

  1801. in

  1802. the

  1803. redeemer

  1804. if

  1805. his

  1806. followers

  1807. looked

  1808. more

  1809. redeemed

  1810. I

  1811. mean

  1812. really

  1813. Mahatma

  1814. Gandhi

  1815. on the

  1816. back

  1817. of

  1818. that

  1819. statement

  1820. he

  1821. actually

  1822. said

  1823. if

  1824. it

  1825. weren't

  1826. for

  1827. Christians

  1828. I

  1829. would

  1830. be

  1831. a

  1832. Christian

  1833. what

  1834. an

  1835. indictment

  1836. that

  1837. is

  1838. if

  1839. us

  1840. Christians

  1841. cannot

  1842. actually

  1843. show

  1844. how

  1845. wonderful

  1846. our

  1847. great

  1848. God

  1849. is

  1850. what

  1851. hope

  1852. is

  1853. there

  1854. for

  1855. the

  1856. world

  1857. that

  1858. is

  1859. horrendous

  1860. that

  1861. we

  1862. have

  1863. people

  1864. like

  1865. this

  1866. say

  1867. that

  1868. sort

  1869. of

  1870. stuff

  1871. perfect

  1872. righteousness

  1873. comes

  1874. only

  1875. in

  1876. Jesus

  1877. my

  1878. friends

  1879. and

  1880. if

  1881. you

  1882. know

  1883. this

  1884. Jesus

  1885. you

  1886. need

  1887. to

  1888. show

  1889. people

  1890. that

  1891. God's

  1892. justice

  1893. is

  1894. perfect

  1895. and

  1896. his

  1897. salvation

  1898. is

  1899. free

  1900. that

  1901. is

  1902. reason

  1903. to

  1904. rejoice

  1905. if

  1906. life

  1907. is

  1908. tough

  1909. for

  1910. you

  1911. at

  1912. this

  1913. moment

  1914. in

  1915. time

  1916. but

  1917. you

  1918. are

  1919. trusting

  1920. in

  1921. Jesus

  1922. know

  1923. this

  1924. it

  1925. is

  1926. only

  1927. for

  1928. a

  1929. time

  1930. that

  1931. it's

  1932. going

  1933. to

  1934. be

  1935. tough

  1936. there

  1937. is

  1938. an

  1939. eternity

  1940. of

  1941. things

  1942. that

  1943. are

  1944. made

  1945. right

  1946. and

  1947. perfect

  1948. you

  1949. are

  1950. only

  1951. in

  1952. a

  1953. moment

  1954. of

  1955. time

  1956. our

  1957. reward

  1958. will

  1959. come

  1960. and

  1961. it

  1962. will

  1963. be

  1964. perfect

  1965. and

  1966. it

  1967. will

  1968. be

  1969. for

  1970. all

  1971. eternity

  1972. there

  1973. is

  1974. poetic

  1975. justice

  1976. in

  1977. Esther

  1978. but

  1979. more

  1980. importantly

  1981. Esther

  1982. points

  1983. us

  1984. to

  1985. God's

  1986. perfect

  1987. justice

  1988. that

  1989. remains

  1990. because

  1991. there

  1992. is

  1993. perfect

  1994. revelation

  1995. perfect

  1996. knowledge

  1997. there

  1998. is

  1999. perfect

  2000. judgment

  2001. there

  2002. is

  2003. a

  2004. perfect

  2005. reward

  2006. waiting

  2007. for

  2008. everyone

  2009. and

  2010. it

  2011. comes

  2012. with

  2013. rejoicing

  2014. be

  2015. the

  2016. people

  2017. of

  2018. God

  2019. and

  2020. let

  2021. others

  2022. see

  2023. it

  2024. Amen
