  1. I was out early on a cold Sunday morning three weeks ago, running down at the National Park.

  2. I was only thinking about one thing.

  3. Why?

  4. Why am I up on such a cold morning going for a run?

  5. Instead of being in bed with my fingers freezing off, that warm shower was beckoning to me.

  6. But something was disciplining me to endure.

  7. Discipline is what trains or corrects our behavior.

  8. And the only thing that was disciplining me to go faster and to run was to run faster than my father.

  9. My dad, who is 28 years older than me, has always been faster than me.

  10. And it's driven me to train at the gym, down at the track in the National Park.

  11. And two weeks ago, I finally beat my father's PB.

  12. I'm faster than him by seven seconds at the moment.

  13. Now I've got my sights set on something higher, something a little bit more improbable, beating Steve Jeffrey himself.

  14. We'll see if we can get there.

  15. I'm going to need a lot of discipline to get there.

  16. But we're all disciplined by a variety of things.

  17. It could be the desire for coffee to get out of bed in the morning.

  18. It could be the desire for money and success to work hard.

  19. But just like my desire to run, it can swing in and out of season.

  20. One day we might be very motivated to work hard.

  21. The next day we are motivated by a desire for leisure.

  22. What is it that disciplines us to obey God?

  23. What teaches and corrects our behavior following God?

  24. We want to be good people who are honest and patient and generous, not thieves, not someone who bullies others,

  25. not someone who destroys other people's character or hurts people.

  26. But what disciplines and corrects us to behave like God?

  27. If you're anything like me, your discipline following God swings, just like my pursuit of running.

  28. Would it be true that some days it can seem great?

  29. You know, you might get up early, you read your Bible, you spend some time meditating and praying with God,

  30. and then you feel all day like everything just clicks.

  31. And pursuing holiness, it just happens.

  32. You get to share Jesus with someone.

  33. But then some days it feels like a nightmare.

  34. You don't sleep well, you wake up late.

  35. You don't have time for God.

  36. You don't have time to read the Bible and pray and meditate.

  37. You snap at the kids, you kick the dog, you get angry with people at work,

  38. and you feel far from God all day.

  39. We can feel the gap between those two days,

  40. and we can just feel that we need to work harder, motivated by different things.

  41. But the truth of the gospel is that we are saved by God's grace,

  42. and it is God's grace that continues to train us.

  43. There's a quote from a book called Disciplines of Grace by Jerry Bridges.

  44. He has this quote,

  45. Our worst days are never so bad that we are beyond the reach of God's grace,

  46. and our best days are never so good that we are beyond the need of God's grace.

  47. We are never beyond the reach of God's grace.

  48. Our bad days are never that bad that we're too far from God,

  49. and our good days are never so good that we don't need God's grace.

  50. And this is the place that we find ourselves in as we start a new series,

  51. Disciplined by Grace.

  52. And we're going to see that it is within God's grace,

  53. God's unearned, undeserved love for us,

  54. that we are trained and corrected.

  55. But we're also going to look at the things that we substitute in

  56. to try and motivate ourselves to obey God.

  57. So let me pray for us as we come to God's word.

  58. Heavenly Father, thank you so much that we can be gathered today,

  59. treasuring you together,

  60. and that we get to sit around your word.

  61. God, give us ears to hear,

  62. so we can understand what motivates us to follow you.

  63. Amen.

  64. Let me read from Ephesians chapter 2.

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  65. It says,

  66. For it is by grace you have been saved,

  67. through faith.

  68. And this is not from yourselves,

  69. it is the gift of God.

  70. Not by works,

  71. so that no one can boast.

  72. We are saved by God's grace,

  73. his unearned, undeserved love.

  74. And we don't do anything to be saved.

  75. As Nick mentioned before,

  76. he just put his hand up,

  77. realizing his need.

  78. But then,

  79. we start to learn what a Christian is supposed to be.

  80. We read parts of the Bible,

  81. like Galatians 5,

  82. where we see the fruit of the Spirit is love,

  83. joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness.

  84. And we're supposed to show these things.

  85. And we go,

  86. we have these lists that make us forget

  87. that we're saved by God's undeserved,

  88. unearned grace.

  89. And our behavior becomes a priority.

  90. We might be measuring ourselves

  91. against other Christians

  92. to give us a sense of understanding

  93. how we're going.

  94. Oh, I'm sinning less than him.

  95. I'm better off than her.

  96. God must be happy with me.

  97. He must be happy with what I'm doing

  98. because I've pegged myself against someone else.

  99. Our view of ourselves goes from God's view

  100. and it changes based on our performance.

  101. I think it ultimately comes from a good place

  102. where we have a desire to do the right thing.

  103. People who are Christians want to follow and obey God

  104. and to pursue holiness.

  105. But we easily make God's things

  106. things that we can achieve on our own.

  107. Let's see what should be motivating us

  108. to pursue God

  109. from Titus chapter 2, verse 11.

    Titus 2:11

  110. For the grace of God has appeared

  111. that offers salvation to everyone.

  112. Grace.

  113. Grace has appeared.

  114. God's unearned, undeserved love has appeared

  115. and his name is Jesus.

  116. His death and resurrection offers us salvation.

  117. We can have forgiveness and friendship with God

  118. not because of us

  119. but because salvation is a free gift.

  120. God doesn't start the work of salvation

  121. and then say,

  122. off you go.

  123. Good luck.

  124. Try really hard to follow me, okay?

  125. But now you're on your own.

  126. He still actively works.

  127. Spiritual growth is not our initiative.

  128. It is God's.

  129. And he keeps working in us

  130. through his undeserved and unearned grace.

  131. God is the one who has given us his Holy Spirit

  132. so that we can read his word, the Bible,

  133. and actually listen to it

  134. so that we can hear him speak.

  135. So from Hebrews chapter 12,

    Hebrews 12 chapter mention

  136. which was read for us,

  137. it says that the Lord disciplines the one he loves

  138. and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.

  139. Endure hardships as discipline

  140. because God is treating you as his children.

  141. For what children are not disciplined by their father?

  142. Discipline is whatever God chooses to use

  143. to grow us in godliness.

  144. Like a parent teaching and correcting,

  145. the difference is a child will grow up.

  146. A child will grow up and become an adult.

  147. But we, as God's children,

  148. never arrive fully formed this side of heaven.

  149. We continue to be God's children

  150. who are in need of teaching and training.

  151. He has saved us,

  152. but he doesn't want us to stay like we are.

  153. He wants to change us to fit heaven

  154. and it's a sign that he loves us.

  155. God's discipline is a positive thing

  156. because he loves us.

  157. And now God has a magnitude of options

  158. to choose how he's going to train and rebuke us.

  159. He uses his word as we read it

  160. and it's wonderful to see that our kids

  161. love reading God's word.

  162. He might be nudging us

  163. or pushing us to obey him from his word.

  164. It could be preaching like this.

  165. It could be the words of someone

  166. in your community group.

  167. It could be a friend.

  168. God knows exactly what we need

  169. at any given point.

  170. And our response to God's discipline

  171. should be obedience and trust.

  172. But we don't pursue God.

  173. We don't pursue holiness

  174. and being like God on our own.

  175. We don't do it to remain in God's kingdom

  176. once he saves us.

  177. But God himself teaches us

  178. and trains us to obey him.

  179. It's called sanctification.

  180. Sanctification is being made holy.

  181. It's God doing his work in us

  182. making us like him.

  183. And it's not that he's changing us

  184. because he's angry with us.

  185. He's not upset like a parent might be

  186. when they see a child behaving the wrong way

  187. and they snap at them.

  188. His salvation for us

  189. and his sanctification

  190. are both works of his grace.

  191. His unearned and undeserved love.

  192. God's discipline in our lives

  193. and the desire to pursue God

  194. is a gift.

  195. We can't pursue him on our own

  196. and without his help

  197. we can do nothing to please him.

  198. Paul continues in Titus 2, verse 12.

    Titus 2:12

  199. God's grace teaches us

  200. to say no to ungodliness

  201. and worldly passions

  202. and to live self-controlled,

  203. upright and godly lives

  204. in this present age.

  205. Paul says that not only

  206. does God's grace save us

  207. and bring us into his family,

  208. his grace is our teacher.

  209. It teaches us to say no

  210. and it teaches us to say yes.

  211. No to disregarding God.

  212. No for ignoring him

  213. and taking him for granted.

  214. And God's grace teaches us

  215. to say yes to self-control,

  216. to uprightness,

  217. to godliness.

  218. Godliness.

  219. And these three terms,

  220. godliness,

  221. uprightness and self-control,

  222. they reflect how we

  223. take care of ourselves,

  224. how we respond to others

  225. and how we respond to God.

  226. God takes us,

  227. a people who are stuck

  228. in darkness,

  229. the place where we are

  230. unable to obey God,

  231. stumbling around,

  232. hurting one another,

  233. and he offers us salvation.

  234. He brings us into his

  235. marvelous light,

  236. into his kingdom,

  237. where we can see who Jesus

  238. really is and see who we are.

  239. But when we change teams,

  240. when we go from the dominion

  241. of darkness to the dominion

  242. of light,

  243. we come over with

  244. a lot of old habits.

  245. We come over with

  246. a lot of bad habits,

  247. a lot of old ways

  248. of doing things.

  249. There's a really old movie

  250. called Pretty Woman.

  251. Has anybody seen the movie

  252. Pretty Woman?

  253. The movie came out in 1990,

  254. so that's going to date you

  255. a little bit.

  256. In this movie,

  257. Pretty Woman,

  258. there's a high-flying businessman

  259. played by Richard Gere,

  260. and he pulls a woman

  261. off the street

  262. to pretend to be his girlfriend.

  263. It's not a very wholesome movie,

  264. but it's useful

  265. for this illustration.

  266. They're totally mismatched socially.

  267. One is from the top end

  268. of society,

  269. one is from the very bottom,

  270. but he invites her in,

  271. he gives her his credit cards,

  272. and she goes off shopping,

  273. and very soon,

  274. she looks like the top end

  275. of society.

  276. She's looking like

  277. the best of 80s fashion.

  278. This was only 1990,

  279. so the outfits are terrible.

  280. She looks the part.

  281. She looks like she should fit in,

  282. but she doesn't know

  283. how to act the part.

  284. She still has the bad habits

  285. of where she's come from,

  286. the bottom end of society.

  287. She doesn't speak the same way.

  288. She doesn't know how to use

  289. the right cutlery

  290. at the fancy dinner table.

  291. She's gone from the bottom

  292. to the top,

  293. but she still has the bad habits

  294. of where she's come from.

  295. And there's a process,

  296. and this is the joy of the movie

  297. as we see her transformed.

  298. This kind of thing,

  299. it's not that different for us.

  300. God has plucked us

  301. from being his enemies,

  302. and he has taken us

  303. to the very top of society,

  304. God's children.

  305. But we bring a whole lot

  306. of bad habits with us.

  307. Sinful practices,

  308. ways of speech,

  309. unhelpful,

  310. ungodly attitudes.

  311. But God trains us himself.

  312. And it's not to keep us

  313. in the kingdom of God.

  314. It is because God

  315. has brought us into his family

  316. that he is fitting us

  317. to obey

  318. and to be part of his family.

  319. He's showing us

  320. what it is like

  321. to be in his family.

  322. And this is a wonderful joy,

  323. brothers and sisters,

  324. that God disciplines us

  325. and doesn't leave us

  326. with our bad habits

  327. that hurt ourselves

  328. and hurt other people.

  329. The desire to pursue God

  330. and be like him

  331. is all his gift.

  332. And when we remember this,

  333. it protects us.

  334. Knowing the place

  335. of God's discipline

  336. protects us

  337. from setting

  338. our own discipline

  339. and attempting

  340. to follow God

  341. motivated by the wrong thing.

  342. We're going to see

  343. three things

  344. that might be

  345. motivators for you

  346. to obey God.

  347. Three things

  348. that might motivate us

  349. and discipline us

  350. in the wrong way

  351. to obey God.

  352. The first one is that

  353. we can be disciplined

  354. by debt.

  355. 1 Corinthians 6.20

  356. says that

  357. you were bought

  358. for a price.

  359. Jesus

  360. has paid a price

  361. for us

  362. to be brought into heaven.

  363. He paid for our sins

  364. dying on the cross

  365. and this is

  366. wonderfully true

  367. and we are saved.

  368. And because of this

  369. we are in debt

  370. to God

  371. but God's gift

  372. of salvation

  373. is our free gift.

  374. We can't pay back

  375. this gift.

  376. It is a real problem

  377. for a Christian

  378. or for a person

  379. to try and pay back

  380. this debt

  381. to God

  382. and to be disciplined

  383. by debt.

  384. Motivated to perform

  385. so well

  386. to pay back God

  387. thinking

  388. God has done

  389. so much for me

  390. I have sinned

  391. so much

  392. and yet he has

  393. forgiven me

  394. so much

  395. by Jesus' blood

  396. I owe him so much

  397. so do you know what

  398. I'm going to obey

  399. really hard

  400. I'm going to pay

  401. him back

  402. because I am in

  403. so much debt

  404. and I am going to be

  405. good enough

  406. for Jesus' sacrifice.

  407. In Filipino culture

  408. there is a concept

  409. if I can get my

  410. Tagalog right

  411. correct me

  412. utang na la ob

  413. how is this

  414. for my Tagalogs

  415. because that's okay

  416. yes

  417. utang na la ob

  418. in Filipino culture

  419. it's this concept

  420. called the debt

  421. of volition

  422. it's this idea

  423. that you are in

  424. someone's debt

  425. as long as you live

  426. and if someone

  427. gives you something

  428. and places you

  429. in their debt

  430. you don't know

  431. how to measure

  432. this amount of debt

  433. that you are in

  434. and you might

  435. never know

  436. if you have paid

  437. this debt back

  438. can you imagine

  439. being in debt

  440. to someone

  441. and you have no idea

  442. where you stand

  443. with them

  444. and it creates

  445. a relationship

  446. that is dependent

  447. and you just

  448. are always

  449. unsure

  450. do I need to

  451. keep doing

  452. what they ask me

  453. do I keep

  454. paying them back

  455. and this idea

  456. of being in debt

  457. to others

  458. it's a danger

  459. for us

  460. if that's how

  461. we respond to God

  462. we can easily

  463. think of God

  464. with a relationship

  465. in terms of debt

  466. we can focus

  467. on what he's done

  468. in the past

  469. and now what I

  470. have to do

  471. obeying him

  472. as a form

  473. of repayment

  474. being motivated

  475. to be holy

  476. to pay back

  477. God

  478. is impossible

  479. because we're never

  480. going to pay

  481. that debt back

  482. if you're anything

  483. like me

  484. with the amount

  485. I sin throughout

  486. the day

  487. this is not a

  488. close and

  489. intimate relationship

  490. it's not a

  491. healthy relationship

  492. with God

  493. and it only

  494. takes part

  495. of the gospel

  496. into account

  497. it focuses

  498. on the

  499. slave and

  500. master relationship

  501. and not the

  502. parent child

  503. relationship

  504. with God

  505. when we're

  506. disciplined

  507. by God's grace

  508. and not

  509. by debt

  510. we're reminded

  511. that we can't

  512. pay back

  513. God

  514. we can't

  515. pay back

  516. God

  517. for the

  518. sin we've

  519. committed

  520. and the sins

  521. we will

  522. commit

  523. but he has

  524. forgiven them

  525. as an act

  526. of grace

  527. for some

  528. it might be

  529. easier to think

  530. about our

  531. relationship with

  532. God like

  533. duty

  534. so we can be

  535. disciplined

  536. by a sense

  537. of duty

  538. to follow

  539. God

  540. maybe we've

  541. come from

  542. a family

  543. system

  544. that's all

  545. about

  546. obligations

  547. and expectations

  548. and this is

  549. how you must

  550. obey

  551. as a child

  552. of this

  553. family

  554. this is what

  555. you are to

  556. do

  557. and these

  558. are the

  559. expectations

  560. you're a

  561. barnet

  562. and this is

  563. what a

  564. barnet does

  565. this is the

  566. university you

  567. have to go

  568. to

  569. this is the

  570. job you

  571. have to

  572. have

  573. and if

  574. you fail

  575. you shame

  576. this family

  577. and you let

  578. us all down

  579. everyone does

  580. their duty

  581. and the family

  582. works

  583. God has

  584. done his

  585. duty providing

  586. for us

  587. and we

  588. are bound

  589. to respond

  590. with obedience

  591. so we can be

  592. disciplined by a

  593. sense of duty

  594. to follow God

  595. God again is a

  596. master in this

  597. situation and we

  598. have to obey

  599. it makes our

  600. pursuit of

  601. holiness

  602. a legal

  603. obligation that

  604. we have to

  605. carry out

  606. devoid of

  607. love and

  608. mercy and

  609. intimacy

  610. again we

  611. are responsible

  612. we do have

  613. a duty to

  614. obey God

  615. he is our

  616. master

  617. but if that's

  618. where it

  619. stops

  620. if it's

  621. devoid of

  622. grace

  623. his

  624. unearned and

  625. undeserved

  626. love

  627. then being

  628. disciplined by a

  629. sense of duty

  630. or obligation

  631. is just going to

  632. lay a burden on

  633. our shoulders

  634. that we can

  635. never lift

  636. if we're

  637. disciplined by

  638. duty

  639. it will

  640. eventually turn

  641. into a

  642. worship of

  643. God that is

  644. based on

  645. our works

  646. God's

  647. teaching and

  648. instruction is

  649. done within a

  650. relationship

  651. one where Jesus

  652. has fulfilled

  653. every legal

  654. responsibility and

  655. obligation

  656. and we reap

  657. the rewards of

  658. what Jesus has

  659. done

  660. so we can be

  661. disciplined by

  662. a sense of

  663. duty we can be

  664. disciplined

  665. by a debt

  666. to him

  667. and lastly

  668. we can be

  669. disciplined by

  670. doubt

  671. unsure of

  672. whether Jesus'

  673. death was

  674. really sufficient

  675. doubting that

  676. really God

  677. does God

  678. really love

  679. me

  680. I'm not

  681. sure

  682. and so I'm

  683. going to cover

  684. my bases with

  685. obedience

  686. I'm going to

  687. make sure that

  688. I'm in God's

  689. good books by

  690. doing everything

  691. I can

  692. I'm going to

  693. try and tip

  694. the balance

  695. you know

  696. there's my

  697. sins

  698. there's

  699. Jesus'

  700. work

  701. and just to

  702. make sure

  703. this side is

  704. heavier

  705. I'm going to

  706. put my works

  707. on top of

  708. Jesus'

  709. as if that

  710. were possible

  711. trying to

  712. give God

  713. every reason

  714. on top of

  715. what Jesus

  716. has done

  717. to let me

  718. into his

  719. family

  720. I can imagine

  721. doing something

  722. like this in

  723. my work before

  724. ministry

  725. where you know

  726. around this

  727. time of year

  728. was when we

  729. had the pay

  730. increases

  731. and so you

  732. know it was

  733. always trying

  734. to be on

  735. best behaviour

  736. you know

  737. get to

  738. work early

  739. leave late

  740. after the

  741. boss has

  742. left

  743. I try and

  744. look as

  745. good as

  746. possible

  747. I'm always

  748. working really

  749. hard when

  750. he was around

  751. just to make

  752. sure that the

  753. boss had no

  754. doubt in his

  755. mind that I

  756. was one of

  757. the hard

  758. workers

  759. but if we're

  760. disciplined by

  761. doubt we

  762. run the risk

  763. of forgetting

  764. the gospel

  765. our anxiety

  766. and our worry

  767. becomes bigger

  768. than God's

  769. grace

  770. his undeserved

  771. and unearned

  772. love

  773. that there

  774. is nothing

  775. we can do

  776. at all to

  777. earn his

  778. forgiveness

  779. and yet he

  780. gives it

  781. anyway

  782. there is

  783. nothing we

  784. can do to

  785. get his

  786. approval

  787. yet Jesus'

  788. blood wipes

  789. away our

  790. sin and

  791. makes us

  792. approved

  793. before God

  794. if we are

  795. pursuing holiness

  796. and obedience

  797. to God

  798. with a sense

  799. of doubt

  800. let me

  801. encourage you

  802. to come back

  803. to the heart

  804. of the gospel

  805. that you

  806. are loved

  807. even though

  808. you are

  809. unlovely

  810. you are

  811. forgiven

  812. even though

  813. you do

  814. not deserve

  815. it

  816. imagine

  817. you hop on

  818. the metro

  819. later today

  820. the metro is

  821. full

  822. it's pumping

  823. and unfortunately

  824. it crashes

  825. and everyone

  826. on that train

  827. goes to heaven

  828. and everyone

  829. rushes off

  830. that train

  831. to head

  832. to God

  833. and to get

  834. into heaven

  835. and start

  836. the feast

  837. it's a terrible

  838. accident

  839. but we are

  840. in heaven

  841. it's good

  842. and you are

  843. there

  844. thinking

  845. great

  846. I am

  847. nearly there

  848. but you are

  849. just dragging

  850. these three

  851. big bags

  852. behind you

  853. one has got

  854. debt written

  855. on it

  856. one has got

  857. duty written

  858. on it

  859. and one has

  860. got doubt

  861. written on it

  862. and you are

  863. dragging these

  864. three bags

  865. with you

  866. I just

  867. need to

  868. carry

  869. my works

  870. to work

  871. off my debt

  872. the works

  873. of my duty

  874. and just in case

  875. Jesus hasn't

  876. done enough

  877. I have got

  878. an extra bag

  879. filled with

  880. some other

  881. good things

  882. just in case

  883. and I am going

  884. to take these

  885. to God

  886. and I am going

  887. to get into

  888. heaven

  889. and you are

  890. dragging these

  891. and huffing

  892. and puffing

  893. you finally

  894. get there

  895. everybody

  896. that was on

  897. the train

  898. is already in

  899. they are enjoying

  900. the feast

  901. it's wonderful

  902. and you drop

  903. it all at

  904. God's feet

  905. and say

  906. God

  907. look at

  908. what I have

  909. done

  910. I worked

  911. hard

  912. all my

  913. life

  914. to pay

  915. you back

  916. for Jesus

  917. dying

  918. for me

  919. I have

  920. done

  921. all of

  922. these

  923. things

  924. out of

  925. debt

  926. out of

  927. obligation

  928. to you

  929. and I have

  930. got an

  931. extra bag

  932. just in case

  933. you want a

  934. little bit

  935. extra

  936. that is

  937. just for

  938. you

  939. surely

  940. that is

  941. all you have

  942. required

  943. of me

  944. what do

  945. you think

  946. God's

  947. response

  948. would be

  949. I can't

  950. help but

  951. imagine

  952. God would

  953. respond like

  954. a patient

  955. parent

  956. to an

  957. anxious

  958. child

  959. little

  960. child

  961. you didn't

  962. have to

  963. drag

  964. all of

  965. this here

  966. your entry

  967. in here

  968. has already

  969. been paid

  970. your ticket

  971. was purchased

  972. by Jesus

  973. many years

  974. ago

  975. that all

  976. looks

  977. exhausting

  978. all you

  979. had to

  980. do

  981. was

  982. obey

  983. and I

  984. know

  985. that was

  986. hard

  987. for you

  988. because

  989. you

  990. were

  991. sinful

  992. but I

  993. was next

  994. to you

  995. every step

  996. of the

  997. way

  998. but you

  999. always

  1000. forgot

  1001. that I

  1002. love you

  1003. and you

  1004. motivated

  1005. yourself

  1006. with the

  1007. wrong

  1008. thing

  1009. brothers

  1010. and sisters

  1011. let's

  1012. not forget

  1013. that God

  1014. disciplines us

  1015. from a

  1016. place of

  1017. love

  1018. and

  1019. forgiveness

  1020. run

  1021. to him

  1022. asking

  1023. him

  1024. to help

  1025. you

  1026. to obey

  1027. ask him

  1028. where you

  1029. were sinning

  1030. it's a

  1031. dangerous

  1032. thing to

  1033. do to

  1034. ask God

  1035. where you

  1036. were sinning

  1037. to point

  1038. it out

  1039. if you

  1040. don't know

  1041. he will

  1042. point it

  1043. out

  1044. and listen

  1045. really well

  1046. because God

  1047. will reveal

  1048. how you

  1049. need to

  1050. change

  1051. it could

  1052. come through

  1053. a friend

  1054. it could

  1055. come through

  1056. reading God's

  1057. word

  1058. when I

  1059. do this

  1060. very quickly

  1061. many of

  1062. my faults

  1063. come to

  1064. mind

  1065. run to

  1066. God

  1067. and ask

  1068. for him

  1069. to help

  1070. you

  1071. to obey

  1072. him

  1073. beg him

  1074. on your

  1075. knees

  1076. for the

  1077. power of

  1078. his

  1079. holy

  1080. spirit

  1081. to give

  1082. you

  1083. self

  1084. control

  1085. upright

  1086. and

  1087. godliness

  1088. and don't

  1089. be motivated

  1090. by a

  1091. sense of

  1092. debt

  1093. or duty

  1094. or doubt

  1095. let me

  1096. pray for

  1097. us

  1098. heavenly

  1099. father

  1100. I
