  1. We're gathered together this afternoon and the presence of

  2. God to do three things. Firstly we want to remember

  3. God's sovereignty and death as in life.

  4. Job, the patriarch said, the lord giveth and the lord taketh

  5. away. Blessed, be the name of the

  6. Lord. Yes, we're here.

  7. And we're sorrowful. Were heartbroken in a real sense

  8. at Elsie's death. But with submissive Hearts, we

  9. do acknowledge. The day that I gave us, Lord,

  10. has ended. The second reason we gather

  11. together here. Is to seek God's word of comfort

  12. for our hearts. The Lord Jesus said, I am the

  13. resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though.

  14. He were dead yet, shall he live and whosoever liveth and

  15. believeth in me shall never die. Believe as though, this he added

  16. blessed. Are they that mourn for they

  17. shall be comforted? It was a sigh of the prophet.

  18. Who said that he was appoint unto them that mourn in Zion

  19. beautiful, ashes. The oil of joy for mourning, the

  20. Garment of priya's for the spirit of heaviness that they

  21. might be clove dork. All the Trees of Righteousness.

  22. The planting of the Lord that he might be glorified.

  23. The third reason we have come together, this afternoon is of

  24. course to give thanks to the Lord for the life and testimony

  25. affiliate Elsie, Scott. L see, as many of, you know, I

  26. know passed away peaceably in the hospital on Friday morning,

  27. the 31st of May about 5:43 or their bites.

  28. She spent 11 weeks in the hospital.

  29. Under behalf of the carried off, free Presbyterian Church here,

  30. the Kirk session, and the congregation.

  31. I know that you would want to join with me in extending our

  32. sympathy to this Scott. The Huddle's and Family Circle

  33. out this time of bereavement today were especially thinking

  34. of Elsie's, nephews and nieces we think of Hubert.

  35. And we think of our own, who can't be here today.

  36. She did phone me yesterday. Wish to be remembered.

  37. We think of Samuel Del C, and Alan.

  38. And their families. We think of the stepsons, Paul,

  39. David, and Philip, and the Scott family.

  40. And I want you to be assured of our prayerful support at this

  41. time. And I say to you, you on behalf

  42. of the family, A big. Thank you for coming.

  43. Your presence here means so much to them today.

  44. I would also like and behalf of the family to say a big thank

  45. you to the staff of the Ulster Hospital of the various Wards in

  46. which else he was looked. After during those 11 weeks in

  47. the hospital. We appreciate their

  48. professionalism and their devotion and care and the family

  49. would also like to thank the Undertaker's today for assisting

  50. in the funeral arrangements and we appreciate their

  51. professionalism. Elsie was a wife.

  52. She was a stepmom. She was a mount.

  53. And she was a great aunt. And the Bible tells us that the

  54. memory of the just is blessed. And you who knew Elsie best even

  55. more than I did, you that she was a good Godly genuine

  56. gracious. Christian letting And she will

  57. be sorely missed. And the sense that our seat will

  58. be outing. It'll be empty.

  59. In this church. It'll be empty at home.

  60. Can I just point out before we go any further that there is a

  61. basket at the door of the church and that is for anyone that

  62. wants to give a donation in lieu of flowers.

  63. The money that's gathered will go in its entirety to the

  64. Revival movement has started. Of course, by the lead attorney

  65. Alan doing better as the every hunk associate and outs.

  66. He had a great love for the distribution of the word of God

  67. and wanted to support the cause of the distribution of the word

  68. of God and it was her desire that any donations in lieu of

  69. flowers would go to the Revival movement now there.

  70. Basket as I've said, if you haven't come prepared to worry

  71. about it. If you want to contact me

  72. personally and write on it in lieu of flowers for L.

  73. Say we will make sure that that goes to the appropriate Place.

  74. Could I just also mention at this stage that when we do go to

  75. ballet, gayane Park in the car, parked just directly opposite

  76. the church, and the get to the cemetery would be open and that

  77. will make ease of access for those who are going to the

  78. burial. Could I also Ask you to bring

  79. your sheet with you, for if you're ready, look down at,

  80. you'll notice that the third hem, at least a few verses will

  81. be sung at the gravesite. There was all these people

  82. Emery's that are necessary. We're going to Worship the Lord

  83. together and thank you to stand with me.

  84. We think of this lovely hem, the king of love.

  85. My shepherd is whose goodness feel it.

  86. Never and nothing like, if I am his and he is mine forever.

  87. And these Hemsworth, of course, were picked by L.

  88. Say how impact. And she loved to sing.

  89. Songs of Zion. So let's Stand Together As We

  90. Worship the Lord Place. Let's just unite together in

  91. prayer. Almighty.

  92. God and loving Heavenly Father. We gathering this house this

  93. afternoon and we're conscious that it is to us a house of

  94. mourning. We know that it's better to go

  95. to the house of mourning and in the house of feasting and we're

  96. conscious that even as we draw nigh unto thee in the name of

  97. our Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ approaching by fear

  98. than the grind of Fez precious shared blood were conscious, the

  99. dart the living and the true God.

  100. And besides the either is none. Other the high, our God.

  101. Alone, we're conscious that Arnie, we move and live and of

  102. being and that were at the God who gives us breath to breathe

  103. and strength to. And Joy are very Mobility is of

  104. thee. We thank you for every temporal

  105. material blessing. We acknowledge that these of all

  106. come from thy good hand. We do acknowledge that thou art,

  107. Sovereign not only in life, but also in death, and Lord with a

  108. ready even men. Mentioned the fact that the day

  109. that thou has given to else, a has ended and we thank thee for

  110. the day of her birth. We thank thee for her long life.

  111. We thank thee. O God for the many happy

  112. memories that, she enjoyed as she journeyed through life and

  113. we know that her greatest and most treasured memory was the

  114. time on the occasion when she put her faith and trust in the

  115. Lord. Jesus Christ, and we want to

  116. give the thanks. Not only that they were Aaron

  117. Baker that the our Sovereign that they were to Triune God,

  118. but we also worship thee this afternoon as the God and Father

  119. of the Lord Jesus Christ. And we thank thee for Manny who

  120. can speak of him like Thomas and say my Lord and my God who can

  121. also exclude him. I know like job that my redeemer

  122. liveth like else say this is my beloved and this is my friend.

  123. We thank thee that Christ indeed was her Redeemer.

  124. He was Lord and Savior that he was her best and most treasured

  125. friend. We thank thee indeed that she

  126. was amongst us as a Godly genuine gracious.

  127. Good Christian lady and we know that our family here, her

  128. nephew's and niece's can rise up and call her blessed and the

  129. Lord. And we know that each one in

  130. particular have special memories that they Treasure of the time

  131. that they spent with her and her company.

  132. Having conversation. And we know that many of those

  133. conversations did indeed Center in a round, the preciousness of

  134. Christ and they wonder of the word of God and Lord, we're

  135. conscious and life's journey, Elsie new, many trials, and

  136. troubles. We think of the passing of her

  137. late husband, David, we think of the death of her brother,

  138. Johnny. We think of the death of her

  139. nephew's, John and Robert and particular.

  140. The passing of her sisters, Margaret Andrew Bay.

  141. I mean, you're either these all took a toll, but we're thankful

  142. that the word of God who came and said even unto her.

  144. And we thank thee for all the trials and temptations of life,

  145. and that LC learned, and prove to thrust.

  146. And the reality of him who said, I will never, leave thee, nor

  147. forsake thee, and, oh, God, we thank thee even for her dear

  148. family. Today, we think of her nephew's

  149. under nieces. Remember, Hubert remember?

  150. I'm who can't be with us and, you know, about her own illness

  151. and we pray your blaster and be with her.

  152. Do you remember Samuel? Remember L.

  153. See herself? We think of Alan here.

  154. We think of LC stepsons, Paul, and David and fellowship, what

  155. we think of their extended families.

  156. Lord. Remember them all at the stain?

  157. We thank thee. That thou Hearst I said, blessed

  158. are they that mourn for they shall be comforted?

  159. And we ask thee that even at this time of morning when a

  160. family has lost a loved one to death that you'll draw alongside

  161. and you'll help them or God to remember the great.

  162. Hope that Elsie had in Christ and that for her even and Friday

  163. morning after that 11 week in the hospital.

  164. We're glad Lord when she closed her eyes and death and breathed

  165. her last. It was absurd.

  166. The body and present with the Lord, we're thankful that she

  167. was gone and to the nearer presence of the Lord.

  168. Her eyes have seen the king for Elsie and Friday.

  169. It was sweeping through the needs of the New Jerusalem,

  170. washed in the blood of the lamb. And oh God, we know that her

  171. passing is not the end of Health.

  172. Say we know that her death was not goodbye, but a mere good

  173. night. I'll make you in the morning and

  179. midst of all the change in the midst of all the tears and the

  191. thee we Crave thy presence shutters and Wealthy blesses

  192. help us come and minister to us and do us good in our hearts

  193. for. We ask it in Jesus name.

  194. Amen. How man it during those 11 weeks

  195. that Elsie was in the hospital, she had a number of visitors,

  196. not only myself but some from this church also visited her and

  197. she heard of course, her dear family and she always looked

  198. forward to two islands. Visit and Gigi told me, you

  199. know, he always reach the word of God to me.

  200. And that's such a blessing. And with asked, Alan this

  201. afternoon to come and read to us the word of God.

  202. Him. And I were with Elsie and

  203. Thursday night, and the hospital, and I invited him as a

  204. family, member to read from the scriptures, and he's going to

  205. come and read those two. Portions of scriptures to us.

  206. And I thank you all. So, Psalm 23, I'm going to read.

  207. I like to think that the if it had bought the Sheep through

  208. some danger and they're resting calmly on the grass.

  209. Lush. Green grass, freshwater in the

  210. Hillside and David thought themselves who looks after me.

  211. And he says, the Lord is my shepherd.

  212. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in Green

  213. Pastures. He leads me beside Still Waters.

  214. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of

  215. righteousness for his namesake. Yea though, I walk through the

  216. valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil for thou art

  217. with me, thy rod, and thy staff. They Comfort Me by preparest a

  218. table before me in the presence of mine enemies, thou anointest

  219. my head with oil. My cup runneth over.

  220. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my

  221. life. And I will dwell in the house of

  222. the Lord. Forever.

  223. Different saying this time and John trouble on the streets of

  224. Jerusalem. Jesus has healed lepers in the

  225. blind, to see the lame to work, raise the dead to life, and the

  226. Jews are plotting to kill him. And Jesus Comforts his disciples

  227. and John chapter 14. He says, let not your heart be

    John 14 chapter mention

  228. troubled. Ye believe in God believe.

  229. Also in me and my father's house are many mansions.

  230. If it were not. So I would have told you I go to

  231. prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you,

  232. I will come again and receive you unto myself.

  233. That where I am, there you may be also.

  234. On further, I go, you know, and the way you know, Thomas says to

  235. him, Lord hike on Lord. We know not whither, thou goest

  236. and how can we know the way Jesus said unto him?

  237. I am the way, the truth and the life.

  238. No man. Cometh to the father.

  239. But by me and verse 27 says, peace, I leave with you.

  240. My peace. I give unto you not as the world

  241. giveth give I unto you, let not your heart, be troubled.

  242. Neither Let It Be Afraid. This is the Living Word of the

  243. Living God. Do you think?

  244. Holland very much for reading from the scriptures.

  245. I appreciate his help. I just want to read one other

  246. passage in 1st Thessalonians, 4:13 the Apostle Paul says, but

  247. I would not have you to be ignorant Brethren concerning

  248. them, which are asleep that you sorrow, not even as others which

  249. have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus

  250. died and rose again, even so them also, which sleep in Jesus,

  251. will God bring with him. For this, we say unto you by the

  252. word of the Lord. That we which are alive and

  253. remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them,

  254. which are asleep. For the Lord.

  255. Himself shall descend from heaven with a shite.

  256. With the voice of the Archangel with the Trump of God, the dead

  257. in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain

  258. shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the

  259. Lord in the air. So shall we ever be with the

  260. Lord? Wherefore Comfort.

  261. One, another, with these words and we do pray, as I wanna say,

  262. it's the Living Word of God that the Lord will bless his word to

  263. her hearts. I have behalf of the family.

  264. It is my honor today. No need to conduct this funeral

  265. service for The Departed, Elizabeth Scott, but it's also

  266. my privilege to be able to bring a short tribute in memory of

  267. her. Elizabeth Scott was born in the

  268. 8th of November 1924. He was born into the Huddleston

  269. family. Elsie is she was affectionately.

  270. Called was the third child born to William and Mary Ann.

  271. He'll say had two sisters and a brother, the eldest sister birds

  272. called Margaret followed by Johnny and her youngest sister

  273. was rubbing their oldest a Stan. You're familiar with that else.

  274. He's the last of a generation. So this is This is an end of an

  275. era in that sense. The family lived in Colombia.

  276. Callie and I have no doubt that life was hard.

  277. And remember, it wasn't long after World War 1.

  278. What about ten years or so. And I remember LC telling me

  279. that one Christmas. She got a lovely new door and

  280. she treasured that doll. And as a girl, she she loved

  281. playing with it as a young girl. She also learned to Raider,

  282. basica number, there was less cars and the road, And she did a

  283. 10 count the Kelley school. She proved to be a bright

  284. intelligent pupil. She was always kind.

  285. She was considerate and her aim was to please and help other

  286. people. Nobody else.

  287. He was about 12. Tragedy struck.

  288. Her mother date. And I could identify with Elsie

  289. and not because of that young person.

  290. My mother date as well. When I was about five and the

  291. death of a, mother was a big blow to Al say she adored her

  292. mother and Tamar, father remarried.

  293. And else he struggled with the impact of that, the session and

  294. she ended up living with her older sister Margaret, took it

  295. upon herself to help rare the siblings and only last year

  296. during a visit and Egger boy court.

  297. And the we I'll call it the flat.

  298. She called it the apartment and she told me that her stepbrother

  299. wailmer had passed away. That was the first time she'd

  300. ever mentioned them. After lesions School else.

  301. He started working and Bale art. She was making children's

  302. clothes else. He was skilled in the use of a

  303. Singer sewing machine. And I'm told that she worked

  304. there a long time and she became a supervisor and Elsie, of

  305. course, in those days love to make things a skill.

  306. Perhaps maybe she inherited from her mother and maybe a skill of

  307. course that was inherited as well through herself.

  308. Start because I'm told at home Margaret and heard love to make

  309. lots of things to me, addresses and curtains, and throws for

  310. beds and blankets for babies and cushion covers, and you name it.

  311. If it could fit in the Singer sewing machine.

  312. It was me it. And I'm also told that when else

  313. he was a child and the attended carried off Presbyterian church

  314. and the Sunday school that all the Huddleston girls.

  315. They had a new dresses for children's day.

  316. No doubt made by Mom and no doubt me and on the Singer

  317. sewing machine. So else he put that talent to to

  318. good use and bail art and later on.

  319. She went to work in the sewing Department of the Belfast City

  320. hospital and I have no doubt if a record was to be known and

  321. maybe someone was to stand up and share it with a word that

  322. else he was probably one of the best Machinist.

  323. She had many friends growing up. and she had loads of sitters and

  324. I used to say to her L say That nobody ever Hass t-80 the dead.

  325. He'll say, no, we're never proposed to you.

  326. Be getting married and he says no, I was far too fussy.

  327. Mr. McLaughlin. Many suitors, but very fussy.

  328. I don't know exactly when L say could see it.

  329. But it's widely believed that she got saved and trusted Christ

  330. as our Lord and savior and Hurley attains in the early

  331. years else. He rode her bicycle all over the

  332. place to work, friends family. I'm told you even ruled over to

  333. clench a to else, sees Alexander's, father's house in

  334. clenching. And of course, you got a ride

  335. home in the back of the car. And the bicycle was in the boot

  336. for many years LC lodged and the home of a mrs.

  337. Patterson and carried off. I'm not sure if a many years, it

  338. could be as many as 20 could even be near 30.

  339. During this time. Elsie was a Sunday school

  340. teacher along with mrs. Patterson and carried off.

  341. Baptist Church, and she was very fearful and not rule and she

  342. loved teaching the children. And of course, our dear sister

  343. here Barbara who played the organ.

  344. When she was a young Barbara doorknob was taught by Juliet L.

  345. See Scott and Sunday school, maybe somewhere you were here.

  346. You were also taught by her and Sunday school and after leaving.

  347. Mrs. Patterson's homes. He moved end here.

  348. We flat and baver. I talk about a flat and Elsie

  349. talked a bit an apartment at Ended like something that wasn't

  350. were abroad and she learned to drive so that basically was

  351. ditched. And she got a wee, green money,

  352. and she gained their independence.

  353. Now, you who knew else, a better than I did knew.

  354. She loved her and dependents. And I remember what I said about

  355. suitors, 40 years ago when her nephew Alan and Denise got

  356. married. She is reported to have said

  357. that her last nephew is now you married.

  358. And she was still single and, but this time She's about 54 or

  359. are 55. But you know what romance was in

  360. the air? Going to tell you what happened,

  361. and the way flat and Devar. There was a problem with the

  362. glass-fronted fire and I'm told that there was a man across the

  363. road by the name of David Scott, who was a plumber, and he got

  364. the job of fixing the fire. No, a, I had the pleasure of

  365. meeting the late, David Scott. He was a lovely man.

  366. Good gracious Godly Man. Very kind and considered has

  367. wavered dead sometime before. He was probably a bit lonely.

  368. Probably. Get a bit hard to coat.

  369. Well, you know what? He got the fire going on romance

  370. blossomed in the flames. Because he was encouraged along

  371. with L. Say I Believe by another

  372. relative to start dealing and David and Elsie was eventually

  373. married and ebrill 1982 in done Donald Darkness.

  374. It was a quiet where she's told me just a few friends, but it

  375. was evident. If you've been ever in the home

  376. that they loved and adored each other.

  377. Now, I have to say here and I'm sure that the stepsons are not

  378. made me saying this that else he was very very well.

  379. Received treated with the utmost respect by David's family, and

  380. they know that I have first-hand witness of that.

  381. And the boys will tell you that after the death of their mother.

  382. The father was like a lost soul. He's like me couldn't boil water

  383. or an egg, and, and the sense meeting L.

  384. Say, was like, at sort of restored and revived and, and

  385. they loved each other and they were married, of course, for

  386. About 21, 22 years. Did we bomb?

  387. Blew their of Church Road? And at that time, they were

  388. attending melatonin Baptist. And then eventually, they joined

  389. the martyrs Memorial. And I remember one of the first

  390. visits to the home. Dr. P is Leo.

  391. I just come to carried off and he sent the around the area to

  392. do Pastor work on his behalf. And I remember, knocking on the

  393. door and I'll see you tonight. Run This Way dog, and the dog

  394. was called. I'll bite your nails with Bobby

  395. Bobby. Well, it was wet, Bobby.

  396. He decided to have a we run around the garden.

  397. And you know what? That was like a flu flower beds

  398. and on the bed of dirt and whatever.

  399. And then I thought, well, Bobby's going to grate the gate

  400. and I was certain Bobby Bobby and the next thing that we do

  401. crown with a gun, jumped up all over me, and the paws were dirty

  402. and the treasures were dirty, and it just didn't happen once

  403. because it happened that one Christmas.

  404. When I was also visiting the home at when the stepsons were

  405. there. And remember Elsie said, I don't

  406. worry about It must have gotten have a brush you off.

  407. It's not, it went to the dry cleaners.

  408. All right, L? See, you know, used to take

  409. Bobby for a walk somewhere. You seen her in the round

  410. carried off and she said to me one time, you know.

  411. I was reported. For the dog fold the pavement.

  412. The cheek of them. She says, imagine reporting me

  413. for what the dog had done. And it always stuck on her head.

  414. L say, and David long teach others have said they love life

  415. to the full of many lasting memories.

  416. How they had happy times. They laughed and they had bumped

  417. her with each other and Elsie, of course was in her element.

  418. It was we trips to Crown Fade to the static caravan else.

  419. He said the worst would go in the crown field was packing up

  420. and leaving it and they had trips abroad to Europe.

  421. Elsie told me about her trips to Vanna's with Paul and David and

  422. David they'd also trips to Scotland.

  423. You know, what 110 they went to Scotland and David's plumber's

  424. van and they spent the night in the van.

  425. I'm not sure where they partners is the else ever.

  426. Heard you sleep. Sit in the back of the farm.

  427. This is what all just even-handed in Madras.

  428. The back of the van. That was Helsing.

  429. Of course. She was fiercely loyal to David

  430. and hope the boys don't make me mention in this here.

  431. But David at one time got away TP and else had told me, don't

  432. you ever mention that to him? Of course, she told the see in

  433. the gym, Alexander when he was coming down to Korean failed to

  434. see them and don't mention it. Jim, don't look at it.

  435. Don't stare at them. Of course.

  436. What a gem do the very opposite. But but that was L saying

  437. there's a story told that David had a lovely wait Merc, you know

  438. and in the middle of LC and Gem Alexander's yard, there was a

  439. clothesline one of them worldly things and it was left it out.

  440. There was a bit of a poll stacking up in the yard David

  441. didn't see it. He drove over the top of it and

  442. the white Mark he then reversed back over it and you know, I

  443. don't think they ever told them. I'm talented nigh.

  444. Whenever David Dade. At head Elsie heart.

  445. Her late shorter, one date. She was a widow to all these

  446. years. She moved to Edgar Boyd Court,

  447. lovely apartment. She called it.

  448. I called it the flat, we had many cozy chats.

  449. We at a used to say to me come on a Thursday or a Friday, 4:00

  450. p.m. To 5:30.

  451. And then you go home for have to listen to the news.

  452. And during that time. Of course, she sold the we green

  453. money and she got a Volkswagen Lupo and she has to come up to

  454. the church here and the old building and first gear.

  455. And we could hear it almost from coming out of up, the Kelly

  456. narrowed and seriously great the gear in first gear.

  457. And I used to say to her. I'll see you know, we have to

  458. stop. Look, right.

  459. And then look laughs dancing. Yes.

  460. Mr. McLaughlin. First gear out the gate and down

  461. the road. Neither.

  462. Look NAFTA, right? We warned her of the danger of

  463. the Sith failed Road, of course, it was busy as you know, but she

  464. loved to get the Marks and Spencers and managed to tame.

  465. The Volkswagen Lupo went down the road.

  466. It was the highlight of her week to get her hair done.

  467. She loved a better Victoria sponge and even when she had no

  468. car. She looked forward to Elsie,

  469. Alexander her, niece common, and taking her out to be wrong and

  470. don't know Marks and Spencers. Of course, they went.

  471. And she really appreciated that and we talked on the phone.

  472. She always would have said or what else here think it was

  473. usually on a Friday. Sometimes it wasn't chasing, and

  474. I just want to let you all know that she was adored by all her

  475. nephews and nieces and their children and she talked fondly

  476. of your soul. Junu uranium's.

  477. I'm like, I'll tell you something else, she prayed for

  478. you. And she talked about her

  479. stepsons here, Paul and fell upon David, and about their ways

  480. Heller. And Jonathan, as I've said, I

  481. believe he'll see, was saved as a teenager.

  482. She told taught Sunday school as I've said and carried off

  483. Baptist. Many years, he attended Murphy's

  484. Law from the meetings were all with her dear friend, Pearl

  485. Shanks else. He loved the Lord and she loved

  486. the word of God. She loved hearing it.

  487. She loved reading it. She loved talking about it, you

  488. know, whenever she was sending a family card to someone maybe at

  489. Christmas, or a birthday, or some other event.

  490. And this was especially true your for Nissan.

  491. And when she was writing to her card.

  492. She always inserted the taxed proverbs.

  493. You five and six trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and

  494. lean not unto thine own understanding in all, thy ways

  495. acknowledge. Him and He Shall direct thy

  496. path. She told me about the Christmas

  497. dinner and or the Boxing Day dinner, Diner at Philip and

  498. howlers, and she just appreciate the very fact that she was asked

  499. to give a word of thanks for the food.

  500. And she always felt that that was important and getting a wee

  501. word. And for the Lord, as I've said

  502. LC cope with Ella Health, perhaps, you didn't know that.

  503. In her early life, she did recover from a very serious

  504. stroke. And we're thankful to God,

  505. giving her grease to cope with illness.

  506. Not only our own, but the illness of loved ones have

  507. talked about, the death of her husband, the death of her

  508. sisters, the death of her brother, the death of her

  509. nephew, John, Robert, and many others had in the midst of the

  510. mold. You know what?

  511. She learned to trust Christ at all times.

  512. She was not a murmur and you knew that she was not a

  513. complainer. But she was a fiercely

  514. independent woman. She was a gracious suffer.

  515. But she was also a woman of Prayer.

  516. And her prayers will be mess than I knew.

  517. She prayed. I knew she was a Praying Woman

  518. and sadly, only a few months ago her health seemed to

  519. deteriorate. She was admitted to the

  520. hospital. I confess.

  521. I didn't think that you'd be into long wasn't serious.

  522. You'll be out again, but that wasn't to be slowly.

  523. Elsie went down and down every day.

  524. We went a visitor. She was doing a wee bit further.

  525. And in the last few days. She found it difficult.

  526. Her family and friends were often with her.

  527. As I've said, I was with her and the Tuesday.

  528. So was her brother Sammy. Weird on the Thursday night.

  529. I'll know me spent some time with her.

  530. And then on the Friday morning, it but 543 or their bites.

  531. She breathed her last. She went home to be with the

  532. Lord. Her eyes have seen the king.

  533. She was reunited with her family and friends.

  534. And the Bible says, as I've already quoted the memory of the

  535. just is blessed and the memory of the liat.

  536. Elizabeth Scott has blessed amongst us.

  537. Could I just leave a short message with you?

  538. In the Book of Proverbs may have put it in the order of Sir, our

  539. book of Psalms. We have it, put it in the order

  540. of service and Psalm 116 verse 15.

    Psalms 116:15

  541. We read precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his

  542. Saints. There's three things.

  543. I want to leave with you. I want you to think of the

  544. description of God's people here in the text has since God's

  545. people are described in a variety of ways using different

  546. metaphors. In the Bible.

  547. Where were called, Christians followers disciples even jewels.

  548. And here's another precious one has sins.

  549. The word science is a reference to Holiness of life.

  550. Pez, holy ones. Has speaks of someone in a

  551. relationship with him? The Bible tells us about a zig

  552. and Rebecca. She became Hess and that was

  553. true in the day that David and Elsie get married, but it was

  554. also true of the day that LC trusted Christ as Lord and

  555. Savior. She became his because she could

  556. talk about my redeemer. She could talk about my beloved.

  557. This is my friend. She could talk about my Lord and

  558. my God. It has since also as someone who

  559. has a regard for God who believes that God is, and of

  560. course, the Bible tells us the full of sadness, heart.

  561. There is no God. It's important that we recognize

  562. that God is that he's the true and the Living God has revealed

  563. himself in the pages of Holy Scripture, and Elsie, leaned

  564. hard on the fact that God has because the Bible tells us God

  565. is our refuge and strength, a very present help and The day of

  566. trouble. How and when your we World falls

  567. apart and crashes and round you. Who do you turn to for help?

  568. What will L say, always turn to the Lord reference to his scenes

  569. as a reference to someone who's a reference for God.

  570. The Bible tells us be though in the fear of the Lord, all the

  571. days of thy life. The Bible tells us there in the

  572. Book of Proverbs and Proverbs chapter 9 and in the verse 10

    Proverbs 9 chapter mention

  573. that they fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and

  574. knowledge of the Holy as Understanding and Elsie had such

  575. a reverence for God that she knew and discovered that she was

  576. a sinner and that she had a soul and that she knew she needed a

  577. savior in the Lord. Jesus was the only savior.

  578. Neither. Is there salvation in any other?

  579. For there is no other name under Heaven, given among men whereby

  580. we must perceive and she knew she needed to be cleansed in the

  581. precious blood of Christ by trusting him and by fear of

  582. having application in that blood were by She was washed by faith

  583. and therefore she came to Christ and she cried out to him and and

  584. and and and she confessed him. Elsa was not only Washed by the

  585. blood of Christ, but she was walking by the Faith of Christ.

  586. I've already made reference at Elsie was a machinist a

  587. dressmaker and you know, the Bible is loads to say about

  588. garments in fact 170 references to the word garments.

  589. I'm one of those references of Song of Solomon, chapter 4 verse

    Song of Solomon 4:11

  590. 11. And this is what it says.

  591. And this is the bridegroom. Speaking of us prayed.

  592. Thy lips, all my spouse drop as the honeycomb.

  593. Honey and milk are under thy tongue and the smell of thy

  594. garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

  595. You see L say like the bride and the bridegroom had such a

  596. relationship with Christ that she Not only was washed in the

  597. blood of Christ. But she walked by the Faith of

  598. Christ. She could say like Paul to

  599. Timothy I know in whom I have believed and am persuaded that

  600. he is able to keep that which I've committed unto him against

  601. that day. And how do I know that Elsa was

  602. a good? Genuine Godly Christian woman.

  603. When I went under her home. She always was reading the Bible

  604. or Other Christian literature, whatever.

  605. I went to read a portion before I left the home L, say always

  606. got her own Babel and she said, I'll, I'll read it along with

  607. you. Mr. McLaughlin.

  608. She's, you couldn't hear at the end, the best.

  609. And in fact, one day, when I was in visitor, was there for about

  610. 40 minutes and I was shouting, you could a heard me at, they

  611. bought a man to killing her and LC caps.

  612. An account here. You must have looked locked, and

  613. I can't hear you. And I'm showing them.

  614. Almost horse. You know what they end.

  615. She took the two bits of cotton wool out of her ears.

  616. She had got olive oil, and, and that was the reason why she

  617. couldn't hear me, but she did love reading her, baby.

  618. She always talked about the Lord Jesus, to everybody, that would

  619. lessen. She could say, this is my

  620. redeemer. This is my friend.

  621. This is my Lord. She proved her testimony by the

  622. life that she lived. When Trials and troubles come,

  623. the death of her husband, her sisters, John A Hurley at

  624. nephews. John and Robert and have

  625. mentioned, she didn't give up. She didn't pack in her life of

  626. faith. She trusted in the Lord to give

  627. her Greece to see her through Elsie Worship.

  628. The Lord of mentioned carried of Baptist.

  629. Donald Baptist Beltran about this they the martyrs Memorial

  630. and then she transferred membership here to carried off a

  631. description of God's people has since and we could talk

  632. literally that else say was a living sinned and of course if

  633. you're not a sin before you die, you'll never be one.

  634. We Believe and we totally reject that.

  635. You can become a saint after you die else.

  636. He was a scent before she died. Listen to the scripture.

  637. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his sins

  638. thing. No need a description of the

  639. people of God. We think about the death of the

  640. people of God. You know, else.

  641. He left her life and such a way that she knew that almost died.

  642. She knew that old people die. She knew that the young may die.

  643. An LLC lived, her life and later that you see even a good genuine

  644. Godly sincere, Christian days. Abraham Dade.

  645. David Esther, Hannah Moses Samuel, the New Testament

  646. apostles CLC. Knew that death was an

  647. appointment, not to be messed with the Bible tells us in

  648. Hebrews chapter 9 and 27 hours is appointed unto man once to

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  649. die. And after this, the Judgment

  650. Elsie knew that God has set a boundary for her.

  651. Listen to what the Bible says in Acts 17 and hath made of one

  652. blood, all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the

  653. Earth, and have determined the times before appointed and the

  654. bounds of their habitation. You see, there's a time a place

  655. away for all men must die. Elsie, not only had a birthday.

  656. But you had a death day and maybe you're here, and you never

  657. think about that and you haven't realized it and it doesn't make

  658. any impact upon you. Who cares?

  659. You shrug it off with a shrug. Your shoulders head remains me.

  660. If the story that's told in The Chronicles of Narnia written by

  661. c.s. Lewis and one of the volumes.

  662. I think it was the Silver Chair or the silver throne, and it was

  663. a picture of a prince that have been captured by a wicked witch

  664. and held in the dungeon. And for almost 24 hours, he had

  665. access to food and all the Delicacies that you could think

  666. of and rest and relaxation. But at a time, Five Minutes to

  667. Midnight, the Wicked Witch's followers came and tied him to a

  668. silver chair and 45 minutes that Prince screamed out every moment

  669. of that. Five minutes.

  670. I'm a prisoner. Someone get me out of here.

  671. Despite having all of life's best the famous of clothes,

  672. Delicacies and fun, and happiness, 45 minutes of every

  673. day. He realized I'm a prisoner.

  674. I need someone to get me out of here.

  675. And you see everyone should know way we get a reality check and I

  676. believe coming into the house of mourning like this.

  677. We get a reality. Check that man is a prisoner to

  678. send that man is a fallen creature.

  679. And that death is not natural to man, and it's death was never

  680. intended to be part of God's world, but death has been in

  681. there just because of sin, Romans, 5 and 12.

  682. Wherefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world and death

  683. by sin and so death passed upon all men and All have sinned

  684. death occurs because of sin and God's judgment on sin and a

  685. funeral like this even at the death of a sinned, it can be a

  686. wake-up call to what is really going on.

  687. Because one day, death will come for you and come for me.

  688. There is life after death. Jesus said what shall it?

  689. Profit? A man, if he shall gain the

  690. whole world and lose his own soul, or what, shall a man give

  691. in exchange for his soul and there's two ways to die.

  692. You can die in Christ. And if you die in Christ, will

  693. be absent from the body and present with the Lord, and

  694. you'll enter into paradise, and you'll be with King Jesus.

  695. And you'll know the bless of half her.

  696. But if you die without Christ, this was the worst death of all.

  697. To die in your sins. Jesus said, if you die, in your

  698. sins, three times where I am, you cannot be and that should

  699. make you tremble and that should make you think on the Bible,

  700. urges us flee from the Wrath to come death is an anime death as

  701. unnatural. And yes, it's hard and yes,

  702. there's tears and yes, there's real grief and Pines and this

  703. family sorrow, but, but they don't sorrow without hope.

  704. because, What we're really doing.

  705. This afternoon is declaring the death of a cent.

  706. Listen to the taxed precious in the sight of the Lord is the

  707. death of his Saints. Don't need a description here of

  708. the people of God, and the death of the people of God, but a

  709. declaration about the people of God, precious in the sight of

  710. the Lord, is the death of his sins.

  711. Clc's death is precious because the price was already paid the

  712. price of the precious shed blood of the Lord Jesus shall see.

  713. Knew she was Redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.

  714. It was precious because of the police that God had prepared for

  715. her. And the island had already read

  716. that to you as the Lord. Jesus said in my father's house

  717. are many mansions. If it were not.

  718. So I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you.

  719. And if I go, well, prepare, please feel come again.

  720. And receive you unto myself that where I am there you may be else

  721. and it was all so precious because of the prospect that are

  722. we at at her? Listen to these words, as we

  723. close from John's gospel. The Lord Jesus said in his

  724. prayer, father, I will that they also him now, I was given me be

  725. with me where I am that, they may behold my glory which thou

  726. Hast given me for thou lovest me before the foundation of the

  727. world. Elsie.

  728. Scott's Earthly day has ended. Her physical life is over all

  729. her sorrows and all her suffering suffering is over.

  730. Remember what the Bible tells us in the Book of Revelation and

  731. God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall

  732. be no more death. Neither sorrow nor crying.

  733. Neither. Shall there be any more Pian for

  734. the former things are passed away.

  735. Elsie, Scott has gone to a better please L.

  736. See Scott soon have him. And how do we know that was?

  737. Because she was a good woman because she was gracious,

  738. because she was Godly the answers not Elsie.

  739. Scott is in a better place because of her faith in the

  740. finished work of Jesus Christ, and Alan, read for us.

  741. Those words in John 14. Jesus said, I am the way, the

  742. truth, the life, no man comes unto the father. but by me, By

  743. Christ and resting on his finished work.

  744. And that's the grind and Elsie rested on, and put all her hope

  745. for eternity. And because of that growing, and

  746. God can say precious in the sight of the Lord, as the death

  747. of his sins and Earth, we mourn. But in heaven, there's

  748. Jubilation on almost like a party saying.

  749. Because another Soul has entered in to their Eternal reward on

  750. Eternal rest. Let me just ask this and

  751. closing. Will your death be precious?

  752. Or will it be perilous? And what you do with Jesus

  753. Christ and life's journey. If you reject him, refuse them,

  754. it'll be perilous. But if you receive him and rest

  755. and him alone. It'll be precious.

  756. I will you die. And Christ over Theta, precious

  757. in the sight of the Lord, is the death of has, since we're going

  758. to sing our closing, hymn or turning to the order of service

  759. face-to-face with Christ, my savior.

  761. prayer and benediction and then they found Ali will make their

  762. way out of the church along with the Earthly remains, as we had

  768. hall for Refreshments on, you're all invited to come and we would

  769. love to have as many as possible.

  770. Let's Stand Together As we sing? It's just close in prayer.

  771. Lord. We thank thee for the sense of a

  772. presence with us. We thank you for these all.

  789. Amen. Amen.
